Speaker 3: I think he said you give him the sign?

Speaker 4: You ready? Yeah, I'm ready, Lisa? Can you hear me?

Speaker 5: I can hear you? Can you hear me?
• 1:04
  Speaker 4: Yeah?
• 1:04
Speaker 3: All right, Coop just gave me a thumbs up, So
• 1:06
Speaker 3: all right, all right, here we go. All right, ladies
• 1:10
Speaker 3: and gentlemen, This is Carl Lee and I have my
• 1:15
Speaker 3: crew still in the well. I won't say I have
• 1:17
Speaker 3: mall in the building. Hollis Lewis is in the building,
• 1:19
Speaker 3: and the football Queen Lisa Odie, she is by phone.
• 1:23
Speaker 4: How you doing, Lisa?
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: Good.
• 1:26
Speaker 3: I'm doing okay. So just so you know, I don't
• 1:30
Speaker 3: know if you could hear when we were talking, I
• 1:32
Speaker 3: had made a comment about I was gonna start with something, and.
• 1:36
Speaker 4: Uh, Hollis overruled me.
• 1:39
  Speaker 3: So as a as a as a as a politician,
• 1:41
Speaker 3: he wants to open. He got to start with the
• 1:44
Speaker 3: hottest story in the sports world right now. And what
• 1:48
Speaker 3: is tell us what that story is so we can
• 1:50
Speaker 3: we'll just jump right into I'm gonna try to make
• 1:52
Speaker 3: it sound dramatic. In the dead of nights, Dallas Mavericks
• 1:57
Speaker 3: have moved possibly one of the maybe top three NBA players,
• 2:02
Speaker 3: Luca Donnas, by trade to the Los Angeles Laker for
• 2:06
Speaker 3: basically ad a one to one. This is sort of unprecedented,
• 2:11
Speaker 3: at least in modern NBA because most superstars, you know,
• 2:15
Speaker 3: they normally like demand the trade. There's a whole bunch
• 2:19
Speaker 3: of friction leading up and then this drama played out,
• 2:22
Speaker 3: similar to what's going on in Miami and with Jimmy Butler. However,
• 2:26
Speaker 3: this is even more unprecedented than that, because again you
• 2:29
Speaker 3: have Luca Donna's twenty five years old, not even just
• 2:33
Speaker 3: approaching his peakness, a five time first team NBA player,
• 2:38
Speaker 3: a twenty eight point a game average player. They were
• 2:42
Speaker 3: in the NBA Finals last year and they basically moved
• 2:47
Speaker 3: him for again eight. He is a great player, but
• 2:50
Speaker 3: normally a guy like that, you're getting the Kings rants.
• 2:56
Speaker 3: I'm with shock Lee was there were no drafts, there
• 2:59
Speaker 3: was no picks. Well it was one in the future. Yeah,
• 3:02
Speaker 3: it was just ancillary. Are how far back like next year?
• 3:06
Speaker 3: I think it's at least he correct me from mom.
• 3:08
Speaker 3: I want to say twenty It might be twenty sex.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: I want to say twenty eight. Though I don't believe
• 3:12
Speaker 3: it's you know, in the next coming see. I think see,
• 3:15
Speaker 3: I would think that you'd want to get something like
• 3:17
Speaker 3: in the next draft, you know. But Okay, I'm before
• 3:23
Speaker 3: Lisa because because I know Lisa's going to have a
• 3:25
Speaker 3: whole lot of information to to probably come at this
• 3:29
  Speaker 3: in a in a different way. I'm gonna I'm gonna
• 3:32
Speaker 3: go kind of rogue on this and say, here's my
• 3:36
  Speaker 3: issue with this. I don't understand. I don't understand the
• 3:42
Speaker 3: players in the mix. One personally, to me, Lebron, look
• 3:48
Speaker 3: as many games as Lebron has won, as many titles
• 3:51
Speaker 3: and things that he is the best ever or has
• 3:55
Speaker 3: this his his statistical numbers are as great as anybody ever,
• 4:01
Speaker 3: right and again and because he has played so long,
• 4:05
Speaker 3: which again speaks to the physicality of what.
• 4:08
Speaker 4: He does in the off season to.
• 4:10
Speaker 3: Maintain that kind of status, to play at the highest
• 4:14
Speaker 3: level and be one of the greatest players ever. But
• 4:19
Speaker 3: one of the things that I just don't care and
• 4:22
Speaker 3: and and I and I just feel this. This is
• 4:24
Speaker 3: just how I feel about him. Everywhere he goes, he
• 4:30
Speaker 3: ends up being some some part of an issue, or
• 4:34
Speaker 3: there's an expectation of bringing players in. And I know
• 4:37
Speaker 3: that you're saying that that nobody knew this, this was
• 4:40
Speaker 3: all in the darkness, just came up. But everywhere he goes,
• 4:44
Speaker 3: he it's like he has to bring a championship team
• 4:48
Speaker 3: with him, and and and and well that's just that's
• 4:53
Speaker 3: just my that's just my take it. Again, I'm I
• 4:56
Speaker 3: cannot consider myself an expert on this, but this is
• 4:59
Speaker 3: how I feel and how I how I see it.
• 5:02
Speaker 3: Y'all can y'all can try to change me in that,
• 5:05
  Speaker 3: but I don't know. I don't know how how deep
• 5:08
Speaker 3: you can go to change it.
• 5:09
Speaker 5: Lebron found out about this ever dinner, am I not correct,
• 5:13
Speaker 5: You are correct, Like Laker's general manager, I think his
• 5:17
Speaker 5: name is Rob Tlinka, if I'm not mistaken correct, He's
• 5:20
Speaker 5: consult with him. Like this was a totally quiet trade
• 5:25
Speaker 5: and it had to be that way. They wanted to
• 5:27
Speaker 5: keep it under wraps because they didn't want to involve,
• 5:31
Speaker 5: you know, the agent for Luca. They didn't want to
• 5:34
Speaker 5: involve you know that the trade having that leverage part,
• 5:38
Speaker 5: and then they knew the fan backlash from the Mavericks.
• 5:40
Speaker 5: I mean, they're not happy. They're not happy in Dallas.
• 5:43
Speaker 3: But I guess my point, and again I understand what
• 5:46
Speaker 3: you're saying, Coachley, but the story is, again, why is
• 5:50
Speaker 3: an organization who has been relatively successful with said player
• 5:56
Speaker 3: player who's been successful. We haven't necessarily heard any disparaging
• 6:00
Speaker 3: things about him off the court. We've heard issues like
• 6:04
Speaker 3: maybe he's not in the best of shape. You know,
• 6:07
Speaker 3: he does like the whining things to the reft, which
• 6:09
Speaker 3: is kind of normal and modern NBA. So my question
• 6:12
Speaker 3: is again, and I've kind of and I've looked at it,
• 6:15
  Speaker 3: I'm thinking two.
• 6:16
Speaker 4: Things are at play here.
• 6:18
Speaker 3: Number One, he was eligible for the Max deal, So essentially,
• 6:23
Speaker 3: if he played for the Dallas matter bicks around September
• 6:27
Speaker 3: October this year, he would have got what was tannam
• 6:30
Speaker 3: out to about a three hundred to maybe four hundred
• 6:34
  Speaker 3: million dollar deal.
• 6:35
Speaker 4: We're talking seventy eighty million per.
• 6:38
Speaker 3: Year over the life of a contract wrote So maybe
• 6:41
Speaker 3: the owners didn't want to pay that.
• 6:44
Speaker 4: That's possible and again and that problem, and that may
• 6:47
  Speaker 4: be the reason.
• 6:48
Speaker 3: But at the same token, I'm thinking, Okay, you don't
• 6:51
Speaker 3: want to pay that fine, And I think Luca Dollars
• 6:55
Speaker 3: had the potential to bring you multiple championships. He's an
• 6:58
Speaker 3: international Superstar member, he's a fullborn player. Yeah, And if
• 7:02
Speaker 3: it's not that pitting out aside, it has to they
• 7:06
Speaker 3: have to know something that we just don't know. Is
• 7:10
Speaker 3: is it a linger injury that nobody knows about? This
• 7:13
Speaker 3: is some allegations it's going to come out the next
• 7:15
Speaker 3: year or too, because this is not the normal motive
• 7:18
Speaker 3: operantus to trade a twenty five year old top three,
• 7:23
Speaker 3: top five NBA player.
• 7:26
  Speaker 5: Yeah, MVP, I mean, yeah, he's I don't know. I mean,
• 7:31
  Speaker 5: I think it's weird. I think I think you're probably
• 7:33
Speaker 5: on the right trail when you're talking about the money issue.
• 7:38
Speaker 5: You know, they're trying to veil it though with you know,
• 7:41
Speaker 5: the conditioning and the way games. You know, the was
• 7:45
Speaker 5: upset with that. And then they're also saying, you know,
• 7:48
Speaker 5: I've heard I've seen on the internet head coach Jason Kidd.
• 7:53
Speaker 5: You know, he's what you're touching on. What you just said, Hollis,
• 7:56
Speaker 5: He's frequently expressed concerns about his arguing with officials that.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: That that is definitely not enough that could be remedied, right, yes.
• 8:06
  Speaker 5: Right, So I don't I don't understand it. I know
• 8:10
Speaker 5: it was the Quiet trade and I think I think
• 8:12
Speaker 5: Nko Harrison and then the Lakers general manager of Pelinka.
• 8:16
Speaker 5: I think they've had a relationship in the past of
• 8:17
Speaker 5: trade so correct. Yeah, and they and they've done it
• 8:22
Speaker 5: in a manner, tried to do it in a similar manner,
• 8:25
Speaker 5: and they got busted. And I can't remember what the
• 8:27
  Speaker 5: trade was.
• 8:28
Speaker 4: Was that the Chris Praul deal? Maybe ye was that
• 8:31
  Speaker 4: that deal?
• 8:32
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's well, thank you, But but this time they
• 8:35
Speaker 5: pulled it off. And they pulled it off well, no
• 8:38
Speaker 5: one had any idea.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: And it leads me to believe that I just outside
• 8:43
Speaker 3: of the money. It leads me to believe that something
• 8:47
Speaker 3: must have been going on, something it's transpired that we're
• 8:51
Speaker 3: not made available to Because again, you picked Luka Donnas
• 8:56
Speaker 3: on the open market, you will get a king's handsome.
• 9:00
Speaker 3: Not only everybody ears you're gonna get draft picks. I
• 9:04
Speaker 3: mean I think a team, you know, you take a
• 9:06
Speaker 3: team I don't know, you take a team like Miami maybe,
• 9:08
Speaker 3: or a team like Charlotte or someone like that, I
• 9:12
Speaker 3: think they would probably leverage their immediate future for a
• 9:16
Speaker 3: guy like Luca. I mean, you could have got draft picks,
• 9:18
Speaker 3: you could have got cash options, you could have got players.
• 9:22
Speaker 3: And basically what you just did, like Lisa mentioned this
• 9:26
Speaker 3: quiet trade in the night, you basically just swapped Ad
• 9:29
Speaker 3: for Luca. Ad is six years older, he's injury prone,
• 9:33
Speaker 3: he doesn't play a similar style of Luca like Luca plays.
• 9:36
Speaker 3: So it's just, again I think, just my personal opinion,
• 9:41
Speaker 3: they know something that they're not releasing to the public.
• 9:45
Speaker 4: What Okay, So what could that actually be?
• 9:50
Speaker 3: And to your point, I think if there's a lingering
• 9:55
Speaker 3: or a potential injury that we haven't heard about that
• 9:58
Speaker 3: he's playing through that nobody's talked about, Okay, I'm not
• 10:01
Speaker 3: even sure yet. If that would be justifiable. Yeah, because
• 10:04
Speaker 3: you I mean, you got to take the physical Yeah,
• 10:06
Speaker 3: so they would probably find out that, right, Yeah, yeah,
• 10:10
Speaker 3: because you so if it's so bad that you want
• 10:12
  Speaker 3: to let him.
• 10:13
Speaker 4: Go, why am I going to take him? Yeah? I
• 10:15
Speaker 4: mean you're right about that when.
• 10:17
Speaker 5: You think of it was, excuse me, some type of
• 10:19
Speaker 5: a serious injury though it would have affected his style
• 10:23
Speaker 5: of play already this season. Like he's exactly all.
• 10:29
  Speaker 3: I mean, you know, and I mean I don't and
• 10:32
Speaker 3: I'm reaching, so don't get it right, right, I'm just
• 10:34
Speaker 3: trying to figure it out.
• 10:35
Speaker 4: And that's something and to your reach, to your reach.
• 10:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, when you start talking about a player who's not
• 10:43
Speaker 3: always in shape, you know, maybe six seven, eight, ten
• 10:47
Speaker 3: pounds over what we're wantedy, he's thirty thirty over thirty
• 10:52
Speaker 3: over what becomes what what you challet what you question
• 10:57
Speaker 3: is his dedication to the game.
• 11:01
Speaker 4: But but what is his What is his.
• 11:06
Speaker 3: Performance weekend and week out and game in game out?
• 11:11
Speaker 4: Twenty eight points a game. I'm getting he's not.
• 11:13
Speaker 3: He doesn't play much d if you've seen his defensive
• 11:15
Speaker 3: highlights or lack thereof, that ain't his game. I'm not
• 11:18
Speaker 3: sure there's a whole lot of None of the superstars
• 11:21
Speaker 3: really necessarily are playing a lot of defense.
• 11:23
  Speaker 6: I mean.
• 11:24
Speaker 3: And then even if you say, even if you take
• 11:26
Speaker 3: the like the d Shape comments, well, I mean, this guy,
• 11:28
Speaker 3: y'all went to the Western confer defensive Finals, you went
• 11:31
Speaker 3: to the NBA Championship.
• 11:33
Speaker 4: You know, he's not a player that misses a whole
• 11:35
  Speaker 4: bunch of games.
• 11:36
Speaker 3: I think a Kawhala Leonard where he's just missing game
• 11:38
Speaker 3: after game after game. This is a guy who you
• 11:41
Speaker 3: know is gonna play regularly and he's successful in his play.
• 11:45
Speaker 4: So again, it just leads me to believe.
• 11:47
Speaker 3: And again I could be wrong, and it could just
• 11:49
Speaker 3: be a simply economic financial decision, but I just think
• 11:52
Speaker 3: something else is at play here. I think it's actually personally,
• 11:56
Speaker 3: I think it's if it's anything, it has to me
• 12:01
Speaker 3: it would have to be a hidden injury somewhere, a
• 12:04
Speaker 3: potential or it's just it's just a matter of fact
• 12:08
Speaker 3: of we don't want to do the money.
• 12:11
Speaker 5: From what I mean, from what I saw today on
• 12:13
Speaker 5: the internet, guys, he wasn't very happy in Dallas. I mean,
• 12:16
Speaker 5: I don't think he was happy. He had made some
• 12:18
Speaker 5: comments about management, like I think they had replaced some
• 12:22
Speaker 5: people on the staff, and he he had made like
• 12:24
Speaker 5: a statement like, well, they get rid of everybody I
• 12:27
Speaker 5: like down here, like not. He was not as content
• 12:32
Speaker 5: as people think he was and probably maybe didn't like
• 12:36
Speaker 5: put it out there, you know, like like some of
• 12:39
Speaker 5: the players do that I'm not happy here. You know.
• 12:41
Speaker 5: Maybe that's just on his style of play. But you know,
• 12:44
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm like, you guys, something's going on.
• 12:46
Speaker 3: So do you think do you think Dallas just made
• 12:50
Speaker 3: a preemptive strike realizing that maybe they were going to
• 12:53
Speaker 3: lose him uh in the next few years.
• 12:56
  Speaker 5: I mean that that's a good theory. That's a good
• 12:58
Speaker 5: theory that would come second behind the money. I really
• 13:01
Speaker 5: feel like it's the money. But but but to me,
• 13:04
Speaker 5: I don't think it was all roses and unicorns in
• 13:07
Speaker 5: Dallas for him. I don't think he was just happy
• 13:11
Speaker 5: cause maybe his personality he just didn't put it out
• 13:14
Speaker 5: there like some of those other players do.
• 13:16
Speaker 4: But do you do you risk in this deal?
• 13:19
Speaker 3: And more so, I think this this happens more so
• 13:22
Speaker 3: in basketball than maybe football. How does this affect the
• 13:28
Speaker 3: fan base? Your your hometown fan base. But the thing
• 13:35
Speaker 3: is that I would say I would guess that they're
• 13:37
Speaker 3: probably not happy if you're a Max fan. But at
• 13:40
Speaker 3: the same time, you do got a d so it
• 13:43
Speaker 3: ain't like you just lost Luca Donags and ain't getting nothing.
• 13:47
Speaker 4: I mean, you do have another All Star. You do
• 13:49
Speaker 4: have another a champion.
• 13:51
Speaker 5: So he's not as young, he doesn't have as many.
• 13:54
Speaker 4: You're right, but he's Tory one.
• 13:57
Speaker 3: So could we make the case that this might have
• 13:59
Speaker 3: been a tree raid for a championship?
• 14:05
  Speaker 4: No, I can't. You know, I don't.
• 14:08
Speaker 3: I believe Again, if it conspiracy theories to the side,
• 14:12
Speaker 3: I believe this was probably just a money saving because
• 14:15
Speaker 3: I mean, if I could go with that, if Lucas
• 14:17
Speaker 3: signs what he's turned him out to the max contract
• 14:19
Speaker 3: with the Lakers, I believe he'll lose approximately like one
• 14:23
Speaker 3: hundred and twenty million dollars, So the max contract he'll
• 14:26
Speaker 3: end up getting, or he'll be available for him to
• 14:28
Speaker 3: sign with the Lakers or whoever he goes to. If
• 14:30
Speaker 3: he doesn't, say with the Lakers was going to be
• 14:31
Speaker 3: about one hundred and twenty million dollars less. So again,
• 14:35
Speaker 3: three hundred million dollars, we can give that up, or
• 14:39
Speaker 3: we can just take a quote unquote lesser player.
• 14:42
Speaker 5: Well, and it could be a combination of all those things.
• 14:45
Speaker 5: You know, it could be a pation of the money,
• 14:47
Speaker 5: the fact that he wasn't happy, the fact that Jason
• 14:50
Speaker 5: Kidd had some concerns. I mean, it was probably just
• 14:52
Speaker 5: a perfect storm of all these different factors playing in
• 14:55
Speaker 5: to trade him to the Lakers.
• 14:57
Speaker 3: But let me ask you this so again in the
• 15:00
Speaker 3: NBA in particular, do you think this move sets a
• 15:04
Speaker 3: new precedent that NBA teams and ownership is taking back
• 15:08
Speaker 3: control of the reins Because NBA has been one, you know,
• 15:12
Speaker 3: big organization where the players has of late, particularly in
• 15:16
Speaker 3: the Lebron James era, the players have had the power.
• 15:19
Speaker 3: The players have had control. Not only players demand you know, trades,
• 15:24
Speaker 3: but they can also even demand trace who is to
• 15:26
Speaker 3: where they want to go, and they do this publicly.
• 15:28
Speaker 3: So do you think like this sets sort of a
• 15:30
  Speaker 3: new tone?
• 15:31
  Speaker 4: Oh?
• 15:32
Speaker 5: I think it sends a clear message. I think it
• 15:35
Speaker 5: sends a clear message that we're in control, we have
• 15:37
Speaker 5: the money, and we're going to do what we want
• 15:39
Speaker 5: to do and we don't have to involve you players.
• 15:42
Speaker 5: I think that's totally the message.
• 15:44
Speaker 3: Step Oh okay, so okay, So with Lucas and his
• 15:51
Speaker 3: let's say, his personality, his willingness to and or his
• 15:56
Speaker 3: inability to be quote in top shape and his ability
• 15:59
Speaker 3: to be able to speak openly and whatever whatever.
• 16:03
  Speaker 4: Right.
• 16:04
Speaker 3: So now, because when when you start talking about that change,
• 16:09
Speaker 3: the guys who are gonna be hit by that are
• 16:11
Speaker 3: gonna be your top players, those top players who are
• 16:14
Speaker 3: the best who who maybe they don't they don't practice
• 16:17
Speaker 3: hard enough, you know, they talk too much, they say
• 16:20
Speaker 3: the wrong things in the media.
• 16:22
Speaker 4: Those are that bad apple that you want to get
• 16:26
  Speaker 4: rid of.
• 16:27
Speaker 3: How many teams can afford to actually get a get
• 16:30
Speaker 3: leave that guy, get rid of that guy and go
• 16:34
Speaker 3: somewhere and get something forward.
• 16:37
  Speaker 4: Because I think Luca's.
• 16:39
Speaker 3: A good take, but I'm gonna make the case everybody's
• 16:42
Speaker 3: not gonna be a good take. But I guess I
• 16:46
Speaker 3: guess that's how it happened. Yeah, I mean, I guess
• 16:48
Speaker 3: that's why this is just so surprising to me. Because again,
• 16:51
Speaker 3: last week we talked about Jimmy Butler from Miami, and
• 16:55
Speaker 3: he's not what I would call like on those top
• 16:58
Speaker 3: tier players, right He's he's not in that class of player.
• 17:01
Speaker 3: He might be second tier, third period, third tier, you know,
• 17:04
Speaker 3: far as you have a hierarchy of NBA players, and
• 17:08
Speaker 3: I could see a move to somebody like that. But
• 17:12
Speaker 3: when you have like what some consider Luca Donna's as
• 17:16
Speaker 3: a generational talent, the best player in his class, with
• 17:19
Speaker 3: guys like John Moran those you know and Mellow and
• 17:23
Speaker 3: you know Mellow Ball and everybody in that of that
• 17:26
Speaker 3: similar age, and this is the and this is the move,
• 17:30
Speaker 3: you know, like like you know what I'm saying, Like
• 17:32
Speaker 3: I expect that from like a third tier, second tier
• 17:34
Speaker 3: pay player, but he's a top tier player.
• 17:36
Speaker 4: And you just basically just sent him off for it.
• 17:40
  Speaker 4: I ain't go again.
• 17:41
Speaker 3: I'm not saying nothing because ad is something, but you
• 17:44
Speaker 3: could have really, as I said before, got a king's
• 17:46
Speaker 3: ransom for him on the open market. So I'm confused
• 17:51
Speaker 3: by it. Yeah, like you like you. It was almost
• 17:53
Speaker 3: like it was we want to get rid of him, yeah,
• 17:57
Speaker 3: you know, and that we'll just we'll just swap out
• 18:00
Speaker 3: and call it even That's pretty much what happened. I mean,
• 18:03
Speaker 3: they got some other players, but there's you know, those
• 18:05
Speaker 3: are ancillary players. They might get cutting next week, right, No, right.
• 18:09
Speaker 5: Well, And I think I think I think all the
• 18:13
Speaker 5: sports news outlets are baffled, like it was just nobody
• 18:16
  Speaker 5: saw that coming.
• 18:17
Speaker 4: Nobody and again and again, you know how that is.
• 18:21
Speaker 3: Everybody talks, right, and everybody was super surprised. So to me,
• 18:25
Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I'm going by, I'm gonna put my
• 18:27
Speaker 3: ten foil coofie on and and my tenfoil had and
• 18:31
  Speaker 3: I'm saying I'm a conspiracy theory and something's going on.
• 18:35
  Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I don't know. I think, like I said,
• 18:40
Speaker 5: you could be right, Hallows, you're you know, it's a
• 18:42
Speaker 5: good that's a good thing to put out there, a
• 18:44
Speaker 5: good theory. But I really feel like, I don't know.
• 18:47
Speaker 5: I just think these general managers maybe are putting a
• 18:50
Speaker 5: message out there to the players. You know, we're the
• 18:52
Speaker 5: ones that have the money, we are in charge.
• 18:55
Speaker 3: I'm kind of like I'm with that too, I mean,
• 18:58
Speaker 3: because I just feel like basketball is it's to me,
• 19:04
Speaker 3: I think it's growing and and the and the salaries
• 19:09
Speaker 3: are going up and up and up and up without
• 19:12
  Speaker 3: no hesitation.
• 19:13
Speaker 4: You know, hundreds and hundreds of millions.
• 19:14
Speaker 3: Of dollars to practically everybody, right, and with basketball, guys
• 19:21
Speaker 3: they can play now for fifteen twenty. You know, Lebron
• 19:26
Speaker 3: is what in year what twenty one, twenty two, and
• 19:28
Speaker 3: he's and he's a top ten player right now. Yeah,
• 19:32
Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, Steph Curry still going strong.
• 19:35
Speaker 3: So now with the conditioning and how they take care
• 19:37
Speaker 3: of their body and you know, science and and all
• 19:40
Speaker 3: the things, guys are playing longer. So it might you
• 19:44
Speaker 3: guys could be right. It could have been a move like, look, man,
• 19:46
Speaker 3: we're not playing that no more. We're done doing that.
• 19:49
Speaker 3: And if you ain't won a championship in the last
• 19:51
Speaker 3: seven years, you ain't gonna win one by right, start over.
• 19:53
Speaker 4: Because the question is.
• 19:56
Speaker 3: How long can he and because how long can Ron
• 20:00
Speaker 3: be the reason why we win the championship?
• 20:04
  Speaker 4: There's the question. He's a great player.
• 20:07
Speaker 3: He and we can add people around him and that
• 20:09
Speaker 3: even makes him better.
• 20:11
Speaker 4: But having him on his own, can he can he
• 20:17
  Speaker 4: take you there?
• 20:18
Speaker 3: I mean, nobody's taking you there on your not an
• 20:20
Speaker 3: NBA nobody, well nobody, nobody's taking you on your own.
• 20:24
Speaker 3: But my question okay, so let me post it more
• 20:27
Speaker 3: as a question that with Lebron and any other say,
• 20:35
Speaker 3: any other team, they know that you've got to have
• 20:38
Speaker 3: at least two legitimate players. Yeah, I'm not one.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: Hundred percent sure that that.
• 20:48
Speaker 3: Lebron and that other superstar, I don't know if they
• 20:52
  Speaker 3: work together.
• 20:56
Speaker 5: It's going to put that out there. This is a risk.
• 20:59
Speaker 5: I mean, it really has a risk to who well
• 21:04
Speaker 5: I mean about it.
• 21:09
Speaker 4: I'm with you, Lisa, I keep talking because I'm right
• 21:12
  Speaker 4: there with you.
• 21:13
Speaker 5: Well, I mean, we know how egos are on the
• 21:15
Speaker 5: n Y and it might be breezed right now. You know,
• 21:18
Speaker 5: he feels like he's the face of the Lakers, which
• 21:20
Speaker 5: he is to a degree now to a degree, and
• 21:23
Speaker 5: now they bring in this other superstar who you know,
• 21:26
Speaker 5: rivals his name. I mean, we can't be sure whether
• 21:31
Speaker 5: they're gonna gel on the on the court, or whether
• 21:33
Speaker 5: they even have the right chemistry. I mean, it could be.
• 21:35
Speaker 5: I'm not saying that it probably will be. It probably
• 21:38
Speaker 5: will be a good news, but it could be a disaster.
• 21:41
Speaker 5: I mean, I'm going to put that out there.
• 21:43
Speaker 4: I mean, I see where you going with that.
• 21:47
Speaker 3: But I think at at the at the best, Lebron
• 21:50
Speaker 3: maybe has two more seasons left, and I think for
• 21:53
Speaker 3: the Lakers, this was a play on their future. And
• 21:58
Speaker 3: again and again and and and even to that point, Yeah,
• 22:03
Speaker 3: even to that point, it's like just kind of going
• 22:06
Speaker 3: back for me. I mean, why even just make the
• 22:08
Speaker 3: trade to the Lakers. Why is it just the destination?
• 22:11
Speaker 3: Why why is it just like Okay, in the in
• 22:14
Speaker 3: the dead and night, we're just gonna hay trade. We're
• 22:16
Speaker 3: gonna trade you to the premier franchise. It's just everything
• 22:20
Speaker 3: about this. I mean, again, I'm a Laker fan, so
• 22:23
Speaker 3: I'm happy he's with us, but it just thinks to
• 22:26
Speaker 3: how like something to me is going on. I could
• 22:30
Speaker 3: even make a case that the Lakers are saying, like,
• 22:33
Speaker 3: where are we going next? Who's gonna be our guy?
• 22:35
Speaker 3: Because at some point Lebron is not, you know, some
• 22:38
Speaker 3: point soon, yes, he's gonna he's gonna he's gonna be
• 22:43
Speaker 3: less the player than what he is. Still, now, we
• 22:48
Speaker 3: need a face. We need somebody who can play. We
• 22:51
Speaker 3: need somebody who's I'm gonna say Lebron like okay, yeah,
• 22:57
Speaker 3: and and so let's get him already in the house already.
• 23:02
Speaker 5: So but it is, I mean, it's just weird that
• 23:06
Speaker 5: they did this. I mean, where did I mean, how
• 23:08
Speaker 5: did they even start the conversation?
• 23:11
  Speaker 4: That's what I'm wondering.
• 23:12
Speaker 5: Our best player? You want an MVP contender? I mean,
• 23:15
Speaker 5: you know, and they only involve them.
• 23:17
Speaker 3: This is gonna be like like twenty maybe fifteen, maybe
• 23:21
Speaker 3: even ten years from now, maybe five. The way media goes,
• 23:24
Speaker 3: it's gonna be like a thirty for thirty on this.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: It's gonna be like a Netflix like documentary on this
• 23:30
Speaker 3: whole thing, and then we're gonna be able to find
• 23:32
Speaker 3: out all the you know, the nuances of it. But
• 23:35
  Speaker 3: I see, I think I don't think it'll take that long.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: I think because people talk. Now, yeah, you know, people
• 23:41
Speaker 3: get to the media people. But it's the thing though,
• 23:43
Speaker 3: so nobody talk when this dealer is going. But it's happening.
• 23:47
Speaker 3: But I'm not okay, so let's say, I'm not gonna
• 23:49
Speaker 3: say it until it happened, right, but.
• 23:50
Speaker 4: People never do that now.
• 23:52
Speaker 3: But but now it happened and it's and it's big
• 23:55
Speaker 3: news and everybody's talking about it. You know, I'm going
• 23:59
Speaker 3: to esp in and whisper it to somebody. This is
• 24:03
Speaker 3: what this is what they were saying. Why this is
• 24:06
Speaker 3: the why? You know, and again the why could be
• 24:10
Speaker 3: They're they're looking at Lebron being gone that maybe you
• 24:14
Speaker 3: know that that could that very well could be the possibility.
• 24:17
Speaker 4: And if and then and and because well, let me
• 24:19
Speaker 4: ask this question to both of you.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: If they let's say they, let's say they totally was
• 24:25
Speaker 3: gonna give Lebron a total respect that he probably fought
• 24:29
Speaker 3: and thinks he deserves, and maybe other people may think
• 24:32
Speaker 3: he deserves, sit him down and said, hey, this is
• 24:36
Speaker 3: this is this is our plan. What's Lebron saying? Does
• 24:40
Speaker 3: he say yes or no? Is he willing to make
• 24:42
Speaker 3: that player trade basically one for one because he ain't
• 24:46
Speaker 3: gonna be those draft picks.
• 24:47
Speaker 4: He ain't gonna be part of that.
• 24:49
Speaker 3: He ain't gonna be he he he may not even
• 24:51
Speaker 3: be there when they at that point.
• 24:54
Speaker 4: Do you think Lebron is okay? That's what I'm saying.
• 24:56
Speaker 3: I don't think they talked about talk to him, That's
• 24:58
Speaker 3: what I'm saying. But I'm just saying I'm asking the question.
• 25:01
Speaker 3: If they would have brought Lebron in, set him down,
• 25:04
Speaker 3: ask him the question and say, hey, what about taking Luker?
• 25:08
Speaker 3: What do you think about the trade for him? That's
• 25:11
  Speaker 3: actually a good question. I mean, I think, I mean,
• 25:15
Speaker 3: I think he would have been for it. I mean,
• 25:18
Speaker 3: and that's with the caveat that him and a d
• 25:20
Speaker 3: are boys and they've had a great working relationship, and
• 25:22
Speaker 3: they won a championship.
• 25:24
  Speaker 4: I think, on.
• 25:27
  Speaker 3: I don't that's a good question, because I mean, the
• 25:29
Speaker 3: Lakers actually playing good right now. You know, we're in
• 25:32
Speaker 3: contention to, you know, possibly be the number one contender
• 25:36
Speaker 3: in the Western Conference. So we're actually things are going
• 25:38
Speaker 3: well for the Lakers right now. So I don't know,
• 25:41
Speaker 3: because I mean, he's not necessarily considering the future of
• 25:44
Speaker 3: the franchise, So I mean, just to shake up things
• 25:47
Speaker 3: for the sake of shaking it up, I probably think
• 25:49
Speaker 3: he would have probably been against it, honestly, I think.
• 25:53
Speaker 5: So I'm going to take a different angle. I'm gonna
• 25:56
Speaker 5: look at it this way because I feel like if
• 26:00
Speaker 5: they would have involved Lebron a little more with him
• 26:05
Speaker 5: knowing what was coming down the pipe with Luca, that
• 26:08
  Speaker 5: maybe I mean, I'm not saying I don't know how
• 26:10
Speaker 5: he's reacted to this. I mean, obviously no one knows yet,
• 26:13
Speaker 5: but I'm just wondering if he would have felt more
• 26:17
Speaker 5: involved in getting him there, that maybe he would be
• 26:21
Speaker 5: more a little open and receptive. Maybe I'm totally off faith,
• 26:25
Speaker 5: but I just feel like a lot of these guys
• 26:28
Speaker 5: in the NBA it's all about them all the time,
• 26:30
Speaker 5: and it's hard to bring in another superstar, especially if
• 26:33
Speaker 5: you haven't been told they're coming. I mean to me
• 26:36
Speaker 5: that that that could be a really bitter pill to
• 26:40
  Speaker 5: swallow for Lebron.
• 26:42
Speaker 3: Well, but let me, well, let me just say, let
• 26:44
Speaker 3: me let me just use an example quote back in
• 26:49
Speaker 3: the day, there was no really, there was no reason
• 26:52
Speaker 3: for me to con me as as as ownership general manager.
• 26:57
Speaker 3: All of that I don't need and you as my
• 26:59
Speaker 3: play Hollis, I don't need to talk to you about
• 27:01
  Speaker 3: the trade.
• 27:02
Speaker 4: I don't need to talk to you about what I'm
• 27:03
  Speaker 4: about to do.
• 27:04
Speaker 3: Okay, Well, I'm just saying, I'm just saying we got
• 27:12
Speaker 3: we the trade for the trade that got us herschel Walker.
• 27:19
  Speaker 4: Okay mm hmm.
• 27:21
Speaker 3: There's nobody on our football team prior to that that
• 27:25
Speaker 3: any management coach could ask us and say, are you willing?
• 27:32
Speaker 3: What do you think about a herschel Walker trade? David Howard,
• 27:36
Speaker 3: Chris Martin, all these guys, Isaac Holt, all these guys
• 27:40
Speaker 3: who are playing, who are starters, who are part of
• 27:43
Speaker 3: a number one defense. You nobody's gonna be okay with that.
• 27:49
Speaker 3: So you're doing this behind the back of the strategy
• 27:56
Speaker 3: and or what players see. We were looking and thinking, man,
• 28:00
Speaker 3: we you know we we just went to the NFC
• 28:02
  Speaker 3: Championship game.
• 28:03
Speaker 4: We lost. We'll be back.
• 28:06
Speaker 3: And he's sitting in his office and he's thinking, all
• 28:09
Speaker 3: we need is a guy like herschel Walker.
• 28:12
Speaker 4: And then Dallas says, Okay, we'll give him to you.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: For this and all a whole host of draft picks
• 28:18
Speaker 3: that they that they traded for people and they won
• 28:21
Speaker 3: three super Bowls. Absolutely, they literally took the herschel Walker draft.
• 28:25
Speaker 3: I'm thinking about that after the conversation last week. The
• 28:28
Speaker 3: draft picks y'all gave up. They actually won a super
• 28:30
Speaker 3: Bowl with those players. Yes, so you know what I'm saying,
• 28:34
Speaker 3: so and making the point that players don't always get
• 28:38
Speaker 3: that opportunity. Let's say back in the day, they didn't
• 28:42
Speaker 3: get there, and nobody's nobody's caring about what you think.
• 28:47
Speaker 4: That general manager's up there, he's cutting a deal.
• 28:50
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think Lebron's there, Nobody it's over for Lebron.
• 28:54
Speaker 3: I think him getting Bronni, him getting JJ Reddick. That's
• 28:59
Speaker 3: it for that's your last hurrah. As far as constructing teams.
• 29:03
Speaker 3: You got one two, maybe maybe three more years left
• 29:07
Speaker 3: playing at a high level. Them days of you getting
• 29:10
Speaker 3: to choose the team and we consulting with you, them
• 29:13
Speaker 3: days are over for Lebron. You're you're a guy now?
• 29:16
Speaker 4: So is that because of are we are?
• 29:19
Speaker 3: Do you think that is part of what the deal was,
• 29:22
Speaker 3: to show you that you don't have any I.
• 29:24
Speaker 4: Don't think this had anything to do with Lebron.
• 29:27
Speaker 3: This has nothing to do with Lebron in my book,
• 29:29
Speaker 3: this far as the Lakers are concerned. Hell, you was
• 29:32
Speaker 3: presented an opportunity and you took it.
• 29:35
  Speaker 4: That's it.
• 29:36
Speaker 3: I mean, it's like somebody giving you free money. Hey,
• 29:38
Speaker 3: I'm gonna take that. I'll take it. That's what it
• 29:40
Speaker 3: sounds like, right, it sounds like again that's violent. Yeah,
• 29:43
Speaker 3: we're just gonna this is the deal we got, it's
• 29:45
Speaker 3: in front of our face. We ain't gonna pass this opportunity.
• 29:48
Speaker 3: What you need from us. But again, the interesting point,
• 29:51
Speaker 3: the interesting side is the Dallas side. Why did you
• 29:55
Speaker 3: do this? And I can't wait to find out that part. Yeah,
• 29:59
Speaker 3: because you're talking about trying to get something back. I mean,
• 30:04
Speaker 3: we well, and that's just.
• 30:05
Speaker 5: Amazed that they pulled it off. Guys without anything any leak.
• 30:11
Speaker 5: I mean even even when I read an article today.
• 30:14
Speaker 5: I read some article on the internet about it, and
• 30:17
Speaker 5: it said that that the Rob Polenka actually flew to
• 30:22
Speaker 5: Dallas and met Niko Harris's person at some coffee shopper.
• 30:28
Speaker 5: Did nobody see them?
• 30:29
Speaker 3: I mean, come on, but do you think, but do
• 30:32
Speaker 3: you think people would like even if they saw them,
• 30:35
Speaker 3: do you think people would even like get a hint
• 30:38
Speaker 3: of that at least Nico.
• 30:41
Speaker 5: I mean, he's there, He's part of the math community, right,
• 30:44
Speaker 5: so I mean somebody would have recognized him. I don't know.
• 30:47
  Speaker 5: It's all strange. It's really it's a strange thing. It's
• 30:50
  Speaker 5: all strange facts.
• 30:52
  Speaker 4: It really is.
• 30:54
  Speaker 3: Well, let's let's take a quick break and then we'll
• 30:56

• 32:30
  Speaker 2: their conversation.
• 32:32
Speaker 3: All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are we are back,
• 32:35
Speaker 3: and uh we are getting ready to lose the football queen.
• 32:39
Speaker 3: She is out of town and has dinner arrangements and
• 32:43
Speaker 3: she didn't she didn't include Hollison myself, so we won't
• 32:47
Speaker 3: have anything to eat.
• 32:48
Speaker 5: So next week, okay.
• 32:51
Speaker 3: I'll take that. So we're gonna we're gonna go ahead
• 32:54
Speaker 3: and take our Super Bowl picks. Yeah, before you before
• 33:01
Speaker 3: you get out of there, and and let's let's see.
• 33:05
Speaker 3: So I'm gonna start it just because I'm going to
• 33:08
Speaker 3: kind of explain why I like Kansas City. I like
• 33:12
Speaker 3: my homes, I like the defense there, I like like it.
• 33:16
Speaker 3: I like it all right. But I have a tendency
• 33:21
Speaker 3: to not like dynasties, people who keep winning over and
• 33:27
Speaker 3: over and over. And I think a lot of people
• 33:29
Speaker 3: have it, whether or not they know it or not.
• 33:32
Speaker 3: You know people who are who rooted for Kansas City
• 33:35
Speaker 3: before and and they won the championship and now it's
• 33:39
Speaker 3: you know, now they're going into their third opportunity to win.
• 33:42
Speaker 4: Now they're like, I don't really like them.
• 33:44
Speaker 3: I'm I'm unfortunately I am in that group of people.
• 33:49
Speaker 3: So I've got to go to Phil. I gotta go
• 33:51
Speaker 3: with Philly, Philly, man, I gotta go for Phylicia.
• 33:53
  Speaker 4: Who you got?
• 33:54
Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, well, I mean I thought about I've
• 33:58
Speaker 5: gone back and forth because I really don't I have
• 34:00
Speaker 5: I definitely have Chiefs fatigue. Like just like Carl just said,
• 34:04
Speaker 5: I'm over it, I'm over my homes. I'm over But
• 34:06
Speaker 5: you know what, I think the bottom line is it's
• 34:09
Speaker 5: gonna come to coaching and whether the Eagles can can
• 34:13
Speaker 5: strategically able to predict what Andrey Andy Reid has in store.
• 34:18
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, he's elevating my homes play with
• 34:22
Speaker 5: and I want the Eagles to win. I really like
• 34:26
Speaker 5: I like I like hurt, you know, I like the
• 34:28
Speaker 5: whole storyline, you know, with the running back that. But
• 34:31
Speaker 5: I really feel like they're gonna do it. It's gonna
• 34:33
  Speaker 5: be a three.
• 34:33
  Speaker 4: P all right.
• 34:35
Speaker 3: So you so you got the Chiefs, I got the Okay,
• 34:40
Speaker 3: So again my heart is with Philly me, but my
• 34:47
Speaker 3: mind is telling me the Chiefs is going to do
• 34:51
Speaker 3: it again. And I just don't think that my homes
• 34:58
Speaker 3: can be stopped. I don't think think that you can
• 35:01
Speaker 3: put a defense out there that's going to adequately stop
• 35:05
Speaker 3: what he's doing. I think he has. He doesn't have
• 35:08
Speaker 3: like the best receivers in the game. I think actually
• 35:11
Speaker 3: Philly has far as offensively, they have better weapons all around.
• 35:16
Speaker 3: But I think he has adequate I mean, I'm thinking
• 35:19
Speaker 3: back to the Super Bowl he lost with the Rams,
• 35:21
Speaker 3: where you know, nobody can catch a football.
• 35:24
Speaker 4: It's not like that this year with them teams.
• 35:26
Speaker 3: I mean, they've got pretty short, haanded receivers who can
• 35:28
Speaker 3: get open, who are fast and quick, and he has
• 35:31
Speaker 3: an offensive line that can give him the adequate time
• 35:33
Speaker 3: he needs to assess of what's going to downfield to
• 35:36
Speaker 3: deliver the ball. So I mean, again, nobody's proven to
• 35:40
Speaker 3: stop that this season. We know that, you know, the
• 35:44
Speaker 3: ref love the Chiefs.
• 35:48
  Speaker 4: Bring that out.
• 35:49
Speaker 3: That's part of Taylor. Swift gonna be there, Kate and
• 35:51
Speaker 3: Carr gonna be there. So I mean, you know, again,
• 35:55
Speaker 3: my heartest with Philly. I want Philly to win. You know,
• 35:58
Speaker 3: I'm rooting for Philly, but I think that Chiefs is
• 36:00
Speaker 3: probably gonna, uh, you know, pull off history. I think
• 36:03
Speaker 3: I think I think this is going to be a
• 36:06
Speaker 3: defensive game, regardless of how much they score. Okay, I
• 36:11
Speaker 3: think it's gonna be a defensive game. And I think obviously,
• 36:16
Speaker 3: maybe the quarterback who plays the best in this game
• 36:23
Speaker 3: is gonna win this game.
• 36:24
  Speaker 4: I don't.
• 36:24
  Speaker 3: I don't think so. I think because again I think
• 36:27
Speaker 3: Jalen Hurst can play great. But if you don't, but
• 36:30
Speaker 3: if you stop, say Kawan Barkley because he's Jen Hurst
• 36:35
Speaker 3: times again, No, but but again.
• 36:39
Speaker 5: It's gonna come down to defenses and mistakes guts. I mean,
• 36:43
Speaker 5: which ever defense can stop the other star players on
• 36:46
Speaker 5: the offense and whoever doesn't turn the ball over.
• 36:50
Speaker 3: The running the football, Running the football will forever be
• 36:56
Speaker 3: the motive of winning football games. Yeah, particularly in deep play, Yes,
• 37:01
Speaker 3: because what happens is and it's and and when you're
• 37:05
Speaker 3: running the football and you're getting first downs, that's different
• 37:10
Speaker 3: than trying to throw the ball and keep getting first
• 37:12
Speaker 3: downs because you you're not You're it's just not you
• 37:15
Speaker 3: just can't do that.
• 37:16
Speaker 4: Everybody can't just do that.
• 37:18
Speaker 3: But if you can control the football and keep if
• 37:21
Speaker 3: they can keep the Chiefs defense out on the field,
• 37:24
Speaker 3: but they're gonna wear them down, that in turn gives
• 37:28
Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts way better opportunities because he's gonna get more
• 37:33
Speaker 3: than what's gonna happen for Mahopes he's not gonna get
• 37:35
  Speaker 3: out on there.
• 37:36
Speaker 4: He's not gonna be out on the field enough. That's
• 37:38
  Speaker 4: my thought.
• 37:39
Speaker 3: I'm thinking if they come in, and I think if
• 37:42
Speaker 3: they can run the ball, which I don't think.
• 37:45
  Speaker 4: Again, I don't think.
• 37:46
Speaker 3: Defensive box are really very good at being out there
• 37:51
Speaker 3: trying to actually make tackles.
• 37:52
Speaker 4: I would agree with that.
• 37:53
Speaker 3: And and and you're talking about the big board, Yes,
• 37:57
Speaker 3: and we'll run at you.
• 38:00
Speaker 5: I think we'll know the first quarter what Sekwon Barkley
• 38:03
Speaker 5: is going to be able to do, don't you guys
• 38:04
  Speaker 5: think I.
• 38:09
Speaker 4: Agree with that and disagree with that.
• 38:10
Speaker 3: I think me too, it'd be a great you know,
• 38:13
Speaker 3: far as like setting the tone. But I think it's
• 38:17
Speaker 3: to Coachley's point. You know, when you talk about deep,
• 38:19
Speaker 3: deep playoff runs, which obviously they they're they're in. You know,
• 38:24
Speaker 3: running backs tend to get better as they go. As
• 38:26
Speaker 3: they go, you know, that level of running back, particularly
• 38:29
Speaker 3: like in a February game where everybody's tired, everybody's beat
• 38:34
Speaker 3: up at this point, you know, And I could and
• 38:36
Speaker 3: I could see them maybe even at even maybe even
• 38:41
Speaker 3: at a fifty to fifty run past maybe somewhere early
• 38:45
Speaker 3: in the first quartern't have to be that all game.
• 38:48
Speaker 3: But then I'm looking at them Phillage, so yeah, it's
• 38:51
Speaker 3: Philly's concerned. I'm then I'm looking at them getting somewhere
• 38:54
Speaker 3: over into maybe a seventy to thirty run run if
• 39:00
Speaker 3: they get up seven nothing.
• 39:02
Speaker 4: Now we're gonna run the ball if you can.
• 39:03
Speaker 3: If Philly can get a seventy run seventy to thirty
• 39:07
Speaker 3: past to excuse me, run the pass ratio and they're
• 39:10
Speaker 3: successful to moving the ball and winning, that's yeah, yes,
• 39:13
Speaker 3: But that's just I don't know, because Mahomes can score
• 39:16
Speaker 3: really really quick and from a lot of different angles.
• 39:19
Speaker 3: So you cannot afford I mean, I don't think they
• 39:22
Speaker 3: can afford to get down you know nothing. If you
• 39:25
Speaker 3: get down I let's say fourteen seventeen points, it's gonna
• 39:29
Speaker 3: be a long climb home.
• 39:30
Speaker 4: Okay, to your point.
• 39:31
Speaker 3: Okay, So let's say the Chiefs up seven or ten
• 39:36
Speaker 3: to nothing to the Eagles.
• 39:40
Speaker 4: Can the Eagles come back?
• 39:41
Speaker 3: I think they could come back from there if we're
• 39:43
Speaker 3: talking about a two score game, because I think, again,
• 39:46
Speaker 3: what the Eagles have been able to proven that they
• 39:48
Speaker 3: can do. They can score quick too. With say Kwan
• 39:50
Speaker 3: Barkley right and jayalen Hurst. They make them big runs.
• 39:53
Speaker 3: They make them sixty fifty yard runs.
• 39:54
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 39:55
Speaker 3: But again, if you're talking three scores, because I think
• 39:57
Speaker 3: what happens if you're down a three scores, It sort
• 40:00
Speaker 3: of changes in the offensive coordinator's mind, how he's calling plays,
• 40:04
Speaker 3: and it creates a sense of urgency where you actually
• 40:07
Speaker 3: might start to get away from your game plan and
• 40:09
Speaker 3: start to try to push the ball downfield instead of
• 40:12
Speaker 3: doing playing to your strengths. So again, if you find
• 40:15
Speaker 3: yourself being impatient, that really really is going to hurt
• 40:18
Speaker 3: a team like Philly.
• 40:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, I think you're right. And also it's going to
• 40:22
Speaker 5: cut down to coaching. I mean you've got to, you know,
• 40:25
Speaker 5: really good head coaches out there, and you know it's
• 40:28
Speaker 5: going to depend on who who's the most creative and
• 40:31
Speaker 5: who has the most strategic play calling. I mean, Sirianni
• 40:35
Speaker 5: is a good coach, but he's kind of fairly predictable.
• 40:38
Speaker 5: I mean, you know what we're what the offense is
• 40:40
Speaker 5: pretty much gonna do. But I'm telling you Andy Reid
• 40:43
Speaker 5: and Mahomes, you just don't know what they've gotten their
• 40:45
  Speaker 5: in their pockets.
• 40:46
Speaker 3: So but I think I'm I agree one hundred percent.
• 40:50
Speaker 3: But what I will say is I think this game
• 40:53
Speaker 3: may look like an old school football game.
• 40:56
Speaker 4: I hope that more so than any other game.
• 41:00
Speaker 3: Because even I mean Philly, even if if they can
• 41:04
Speaker 3: substitute backs and still run the football, they got two backs,
• 41:10
Speaker 3: so they're they're set up to rest one and go again.
• 41:15
Speaker 3: So they're not saying we take him out. We got
• 41:17
Speaker 3: to start throwing the ball. So now you can't. You
• 41:20
Speaker 3: you have to defend. You have to defend the run.
• 41:24
Speaker 3: If you're gonna beat Phillip.
• 41:25
Speaker 4: It's gonna be interesting. It really, it really will be.
• 41:31
Speaker 3: So all right, see you. You take care of be safe,
• 41:37
Speaker 3: all right, coach, So I'll see you. So I want
• 41:41
Speaker 3: to ask you about you know, obviously we had the
• 41:44
Speaker 3: Pro Bowl this past weekend. You are a three time
• 41:47
Speaker 3: Pro Bowler. What are just some of your highlights of
• 41:50
Speaker 3: your Pro Bowl days? What are some things that come
• 41:54
Speaker 3: to mind as you were playing in the game? And
• 41:56
Speaker 3: I think you was it eighty seven, eighty eight, and
• 41:58
Speaker 3: eighty nine, Yes, you may three consecutive, yes, correct? Okay,
• 42:02
Speaker 3: so what are some of your highlights? What are the
• 42:03
Speaker 3: some some of the things you remember about that time?
• 42:05
Speaker 3: You know when people have asked me, like, you know what,
• 42:10
Speaker 3: you know, which one was your favorite or whatever? Just
• 42:16
Speaker 3: that first one, just the reality of that first one,
• 42:19
Speaker 3: and you don't get. You don't get it doesn't become
• 42:22
Speaker 3: a norm second and third year. You know what I'm saying,
• 42:25
Speaker 3: It doesn't come norm You're still excited. But being in
• 42:29
Speaker 3: being on that first one and being a starter in
• 42:31
Speaker 3: each one of them, you know, that to me was
• 42:36
Speaker 3: was special. And at that time, you're in you know,
• 42:40
Speaker 3: it's the pro Bos in Hawaii. Yes, so was this
• 42:43
Speaker 3: your first time? The first one was that's your first
• 42:45
Speaker 3: time going to Hawaii? Yes, okay, so not only do
• 42:47
Speaker 3: you get to play in the Pro Bow you know
• 42:49
Speaker 3: you're all in Hawaii team, but you're in Hawaii as well.
• 42:51
Speaker 3: And bro, I got fair, I got all kinds of
• 42:53
Speaker 3: family there with me, family, everybody basically almost everybody came,
• 42:59
Speaker 3: you know, and and again, and I think we I
• 43:03
Speaker 3: think the winner, the winner got ten thousand and the yes,
• 43:08
  Speaker 3: that's that's that's it's totally different now. And then the
• 43:12
Speaker 3: team that lost, I think got five thousand. So for me,
• 43:17
Speaker 3: I was willing to forego my ten to make sure
• 43:20
Speaker 3: all my things as many people who wanted to come,
• 43:23
Speaker 3: was gonna come, and I'll pay that back on you know,
• 43:26
Speaker 3: if we win, because I either got ten or five.
• 43:30
Speaker 4: But man, it was, it was, it was.
• 43:32
Speaker 3: It was just amazing just to see it, just to
• 43:34
Speaker 3: be able to get out into town just walking around.
• 43:37
Speaker 4: I mean, it was phenomenal.
• 43:39
Speaker 3: But then the craziest thing is, like, you know, you're
• 43:45
Speaker 3: playing like everybody you line up, you know, and fortunately
• 43:50
Speaker 3: to be a starter in each one of them. You
• 43:53
Speaker 3: start looking across the across the line, and everybody's a
• 43:59
Speaker 3: name that you know. You look at the linebackers. You
• 44:03
Speaker 3: got LT. I mean you got like everybody. You got
• 44:08
Speaker 3: Ronnie for the first Well who did you?
• 44:10
Speaker 4: Who was the name? So you play with l T?
• 44:12
Speaker 4: Who else I had? There was h Ronnie Lott? Yes LT?
• 44:18
  Speaker 4: Your backer?
• 44:19
Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, Chris Doleman, okay, Reggie White. Matter of fact,
• 44:25
Speaker 3: I have Reggie White's helmet at home. We swapped helmets
• 44:29
Speaker 3: because what they do is everybody swapped swapped helmets at
• 44:32
Speaker 3: the Pro Bowl to try to get everybody's help. Now,
• 44:35
Speaker 3: was that strategic you be lying the Reggie White? Or
• 44:37
Speaker 3: you just happened to be near him? Trust me, he
• 44:39
Speaker 3: ain't come to me and say I want no, Actually,
• 44:43
Speaker 3: it just it just it just kind of happened.
• 44:45
  Speaker 4: Really.
• 44:48
Speaker 3: He was looking and I was, you know, everybody was
• 44:50
Speaker 3: trying to hang out, and he was like, you want
• 44:52
Speaker 3: to swap Oh, let me think about that. Yeah, I
• 44:57
Speaker 3: think I do, you know, and that kind of stuff
• 45:01
Speaker 3: is just unbelievable, Like you can't. I'm starting on the
• 45:08
Speaker 3: I think I was the left side corner and br you,
• 45:12
  Speaker 3: I'm looking down.
• 45:13
Speaker 4: The line Bright, that's Reggie White.
• 45:16
Speaker 3: I'm looking at the line back on the same side
• 45:19
Speaker 3: and it's lt I'm looking at the safety and it's
• 45:22
Speaker 3: Ronnie Lott. I'm like thinking, bro, I can tell you
• 45:26
Speaker 3: the game plan for the AFC is going thirty nine
• 45:31
Speaker 3: because everybody, I think I would almost make the case that.
• 45:37
Speaker 4: Maybe everybody that started on and I.
• 45:40
Speaker 3: Don't remember everybody's name, but I'm gonna say almost everybody
• 45:44
Speaker 3: on that team, that first starting team.
• 45:48
Speaker 4: Was a Hall of Fame player.
• 45:49
Speaker 3: I mean, because when you look at the eighties during
• 45:52
Speaker 3: that era, I mean, we had teams like the forty
• 45:55
Speaker 3: nine ers, yeah, the Giants, they sort of ran the eighties. Yes,
• 45:58
Speaker 3: those were the teas, So you know, it was it
• 46:01
Speaker 3: was really about the NFC during the eighties.
• 46:03
  Speaker 4: It really was.
• 46:05
Speaker 3: And again and I don't even know. I want to
• 46:08
Speaker 3: I want to say, and I could be totally wrong.
• 46:10
Speaker 3: So if somebody looks this up and says Carl was
• 46:12
Speaker 3: lying on the show, I'm just I'm but I think
• 46:15
  Speaker 3: I don't think I lost a in those three years.
• 46:20
Speaker 3: I think we won all three of my face Now,
• 46:23
Speaker 3: how competitive were those games? Is this something like where
• 46:28
Speaker 3: y'all fair, everybody you know had a couple of dreams,
• 46:31
Speaker 3: and it's casual until the money, until you get like
• 46:35
  Speaker 3: it's it's it's everybody wants to play well, and everybody's
• 46:39
Speaker 3: playing hard. But you know people are talking to you,
• 46:42
Speaker 3: they're laughing at you know, they're laughing with you. And
• 46:44
Speaker 3: that was Sterling's first I think that was Sterling's rookie season,
• 46:48
Speaker 3: and he and he made the Pro Bowl, which is
• 46:50
Speaker 3: where me and him kind of got together and became friends.
• 46:54
Speaker 4: It's it's competitive game, but but.
• 46:58
Speaker 3: Once you get down to the fourth quarter, the difference
• 47:00
Speaker 3: between the ten and the five, if that game is
• 47:03
Speaker 3: closed still now you're trying, you're trying to get to ten.
• 47:06
Speaker 4: You don't want to fight. You didn't you didn't want
• 47:09
  Speaker 4: to five.
• 47:10
Speaker 3: But and again, even though like you could sense the
• 47:14
Speaker 3: temperature climbing toward the end of the game, you just can't.
• 47:20
Speaker 3: You just can't look anywhere. There's nobody that's gonna come
• 47:25
Speaker 3: out on my side as a receiver who's not great.
• 47:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what I'm saying. And and and Brom.
• 47:33
Speaker 3: I'm like I said, I'm sitting there thinking, man, they
• 47:35
Speaker 3: gotta be throwing at me, you know, because so this
• 47:38
Speaker 3: was a conscious thought, yes, because I'm like thinking, it's
• 47:41
Speaker 3: my first Pro Bowl. Maybe they don't buy it, you know.
• 47:46
Speaker 3: Darryl Green's on the other side. Okay, you know what
• 47:49
Speaker 3: I'm saying, So I mean think about it. And on
• 47:52
Speaker 3: the other side on the AFC, you had both of
• 47:55
Speaker 3: the Chiefs corners, which are.
• 47:59
Speaker 4: Both both of them were Pro Bowl, All Pro guys.
• 48:03
Speaker 3: Two on the same team, and brother they on the
• 48:06
Speaker 3: other side. But let's go to your defensive backfield one
• 48:09
Speaker 3: secon because you just said something, So you had you
• 48:12
Speaker 3: Darryl Green at the corners.
• 48:14
Speaker 4: Joey Browner. Joey Browner was also in the Pro Bowl.
• 48:16
Speaker 3: Okay, but who was your strong safety because Ronnie Lott
• 48:20
Speaker 3: was free, Roddy was free, and Joey was strong.
• 48:23
  Speaker 4: Joey is strong.
• 48:24
Speaker 3: Who was your so your Mike Becker would have been singletary, right? Yes,
• 48:28
Speaker 3: so ye singletary of one backer? You had probably a
• 48:32
Speaker 3: Lawrence Taylor at the strong Who was the weak side.
• 48:36
Speaker 3: I'm trying to think who would have been? I mean
• 48:39
Speaker 3: it's a plethoro. Yeah, yes, had you had Chris Doman
• 48:42
Speaker 3: and Reggie White. Chris Doman, Reggie White, you know, I mean,
• 48:49
Speaker 3: come on, just just those two.
• 48:50
Speaker 4: Those were the sock masters of that era. It's wow.
• 48:55
Speaker 3: So so so when we think about again, and I've
• 48:57
Speaker 3: heard Kubbe Bryant, uh he said something about the NBA
• 49:02
Speaker 3: like All Star Game and it's not competitive anymore. Obviously
• 49:06
Speaker 3: said this before he passed away. So what are your
• 49:09
Speaker 3: thoughts just kind of on the the the iteration of
• 49:12
Speaker 3: it now where again, we've always had like the Pro
• 49:15
Speaker 3: Bowl games as far as the competitions is, the races
• 49:18
Speaker 3: who can throw the farthest? I think those are fun,
• 49:20
  Speaker 3: But now it's it's it's it's devolved into what now
• 49:24
Speaker 3: is like a flag football game. So so what are
• 49:26
Speaker 3: your thoughts just going to what it was and what
• 49:29
Speaker 3: it is now. I can understand I can understand why
• 49:34
Speaker 3: you you don't want to play a game.
• 49:38
  Speaker 4: I understand that.
• 49:39
Speaker 3: And I'm not even talking about the players, but I'm
• 49:41
Speaker 3: just talking about from a safety perspective. You know, you
• 49:43
Speaker 3: got the best players in the league, and they're all
• 49:47
Speaker 3: and they're they're out there playing. They don't want to
• 49:51
Speaker 3: play hard because they don't want to risk getting an injury.
• 49:53
Speaker 4: So then that game looks bad.
• 49:55
Speaker 3: So now the league is like, okay, let's try to
• 49:57
Speaker 3: figure out something else. But the worst thing, here's what
• 50:00
  Speaker 3: I hear. I don't buy into any of it. I
• 50:04
Speaker 3: don't like any of it. As far as what like,
• 50:07
  Speaker 3: I don't. I don't like the flag. I don't like
• 50:09
Speaker 3: the games because again it's not it's it's okay so me.
• 50:13
Speaker 3: So if it's me and Darryl Green gonna be running in,
• 50:16
Speaker 3: you know, for something, I don't care. Even if I
• 50:20
Speaker 3: were to beat him, What am I getting like that?
• 50:23
Speaker 3: That ain't that, that's nothing. That's not gonna be enough
• 50:25
Speaker 3: for me to think I am the best player in
• 50:28
Speaker 3: the league, you know, or I'm that best corner or whatever.
• 50:32
Speaker 3: What I would prefer if you don't want to play flag,
• 50:36
Speaker 3: if if flag should not.
• 50:38
Speaker 4: Be the case, I would rather you just say this
• 50:43
Speaker 4: list the all pro players. Just list them, just list them, and.
• 50:48
Speaker 3: And and and and if you're not gonna play a game,
• 50:50
  Speaker 3: don't play.
• 50:51
  Speaker 4: So just do that. It's it's it's it's kind of
• 50:53
Speaker 4: like All State, you.
• 50:55
Speaker 3: Know, make it just like that, you know, and and
• 51:00
Speaker 3: you could make it, you know, because there's All Pro
• 51:03
Speaker 3: and then there's still the Pro Bowl, and that those
• 51:06
Speaker 3: two things don't necessarily have to be the same. So
• 51:09
Speaker 3: I would just make it all NFL teams, you know,
• 51:13
Speaker 3: a f C, NFC and you and you risked them,
• 51:17
Speaker 3: and you you list them.
• 51:18
Speaker 4: And there is no game.
• 51:21
Speaker 3: Now, if you want to do an actually all star game,
• 51:24
Speaker 3: then you gotta you gotta then you then you got
• 51:26
Speaker 3: to pick those players and they and you have to
• 51:28
Speaker 3: have them play football. Now, I think, did you say
• 51:32
Speaker 3: this to me or somebody said it? If anything, what
• 51:36
Speaker 3: I would be okay with would be is, then Mike,
• 51:39
Speaker 3: let's say that you you you took NBA All Stars,
• 51:44
Speaker 3: NFL All Stars and had some kind of competition there.
• 51:50
Speaker 3: I would be okay with that.
• 51:54
Speaker 4: What did you do that? Though?
• 51:55
Speaker 3: Well, I mean I think timing would probably be issue.
• 51:58
Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's an interesting idea and it's not mine.
• 52:01
Speaker 3: But somebody I was having this conversation with somebody, I
• 52:04
Speaker 3: can't remember who it was, and when they brought it up,
• 52:06
Speaker 3: I was like, you know, because you could even now
• 52:08
Speaker 3: if you play flag football with the NFL All Stars,
• 52:13
Speaker 3: NBA all the NBA. Yes, and then you go to
• 52:16
Speaker 3: the court because we play basketball. Football player thinks they
• 52:20
  Speaker 3: can play basketball.
• 52:21
Speaker 4: That's actually not a bad idea, you know, that.
• 52:23
Speaker 3: Would be that would make sense to me. You know,
• 52:26
Speaker 3: I play on your court, you play.
• 52:28
Speaker 4: On my field. Yeah, that's not a bad idea. And
• 52:32
  Speaker 4: and and.
• 52:32
Speaker 3: Then you know, and again we're playing flag for the football.
• 52:35
Speaker 3: I would be okay with that because I'll make the
• 52:38
Speaker 3: case that the NBA schurch there's gonna be some NBA
• 52:41
Speaker 3: players man that can that can that that's gonna be
• 52:43
Speaker 3: able to play. Yeah, I mean that that's actually not
• 52:47
Speaker 3: a bad idea if I mean maybe huh yep, because
• 52:52
Speaker 3: I mean, I guess would like because I know the
• 52:54
Speaker 3: NBA All Stars coming up, so you can actually just
• 52:57
  Speaker 3: wait to.
• 52:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, you can they can make that work. They can
• 52:59
  Speaker 4: make you.
• 53:00
Speaker 3: Could play during the NBA All Star break and then
• 53:03
Speaker 3: you can have it like that. That actually would be
• 53:04
Speaker 3: kind of fun. I would think people would love watching it.
• 53:08
Speaker 3: Do like a cross cross promotion between the two leagues
• 53:11
Speaker 3: and can and and you're gonna have all kinds of
• 53:14
Speaker 3: talking into that, which would make it even cooler, you
• 53:16
Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, Like they're gonna talk smack, yeah,
• 53:19
Speaker 3: you know. And and when you get on my field,
• 53:23
  Speaker 3: when you're in.
• 53:24
  Speaker 4: The football field.
• 53:24
Speaker 3: So now I'm talking all this, you get on we
• 53:27
Speaker 3: get on the basketball.
• 53:28
  Speaker 5: Bro.
• 53:28
Speaker 4: You talking all this? You remember all that, all that
• 53:30
Speaker 4: you was talking. Let me see what you can.
• 53:33
Speaker 3: Do now, you know. I think that would be That
• 53:36
Speaker 3: would be the way to go. I'm with you on that.
• 53:40
Speaker 3: I really might be the first time I'm with you
• 53:42
Speaker 3: on that one. I think that would be fun. Yeah,
• 53:45
Speaker 3: because I think it's better than what we've seen from
• 53:47
Speaker 3: both you know, leagues, because none of the All Star
• 53:50
Speaker 3: games are really you know, even if you look at
• 53:52
Speaker 3: the NBA, you look at like, you know, it's fun
• 53:56
Speaker 3: kind of when they pair it with the w NBA players,
• 53:59
Speaker 3: But if you look like the Slam contest, even a
• 54:01
Speaker 3: three point contest is eh, you know, and the game
• 54:04
Speaker 3: is eh. So yeah, yeah, that would be fun. All right, Well,
• 54:08
Speaker 3: we just got our nod to get out of here.
• 54:10
Speaker 3: So hollis I appreciate you getting here and uh we
