- 0:39Speaker 1: It's all on my Wednesday. Thanks for being with us.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Glad you're here. We're gonna do a little baseball post
- 0:46Speaker 1: game from last night. Also, Scott clin Dinnon is here.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We'll hear from Mallory and apparently the Rangers are not
- 0:56Speaker 1: going to have the al Wes clenched by the time
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'd get there on Friday. Nativaldi's off to a disturbing
- 1:07Speaker 1: start to begin the season. Nate gave up five two
- 1:12Speaker 1: out base hits, left the game early, and Balmer salvage
- 1:18Speaker 1: just one game of the three game series, eight to three.
- 1:22Speaker 1: The final in that one Bisalo Beavers homering for the Rangers.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Seeger had his third home run. Nemo's continuing to hit,
- 1:34Speaker 1: but the Rangers pitching staff is already taxed because the
- 1:40Speaker 1: starters aren't going deep enough. But they'll get a day
- 1:42Speaker 1: of rest tomorrow before opening at home against the Cincinnati
- 1:46Speaker 1: Reds on Friday. We will be at that game providing
- 1:49Speaker 1: reports for you Friday afternoon. The Astros have won five
- 1:54Speaker 1: in a row. In a game you may or may
- 1:55Speaker 1: not have heard right here on the zone, six to four.
- 1:59Speaker 1: The final big hit a Carlos Correa three run Jimmy
- 2:03Speaker 1: Jack in the fifth inning. The Astros win it, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: the Red Sox have lost five in a row. The
- 2:12Speaker 1: Aggie baseball team continues to play really well on Tuesdays,
- 2:16Speaker 1: especially seventeen hits, nine for extra bases. They bomb Sam
- 2:22Speaker 1: Houston sixteen to two in a run rule game. Gavin
- 2:28Speaker 1: grohovec is still hitting really well, as is Nico Partida,
- 2:34Speaker 1: as is Caden Serell. So you know that's gone pretty
- 2:40Speaker 1: well for Texas. A and m Jory and Wilson had
- 2:47Speaker 1: a home run as well a bomb, his fifth of
- 2:52Speaker 1: the season. Cole Hubert two and a third innings had
- 2:58Speaker 1: help their am. Now twenty three and five, they will
- 3:04Speaker 1: host Vanderbilt beginning with three games Tomorrow night and Friday night,
- 3:11Speaker 1: five point forty five on the air on the Zone.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Caden Sorel, Nico Partida, and Boston Kellner earning mid season
- 3:21Speaker 1: recognition from Baseball America. Sorell selected the mid season College
- 3:28Speaker 1: Player of the Year, Partiita named Freshman of the Year.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Kellner also getting mentioned as well. He was Freshman All
- 3:44Speaker 1: American Second Team n C DOUBLEA Division One Cabinet. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't know what that is approved emergency legislation today. You
- 3:55Speaker 1: know it's got to be important designing to stop programs
- 3:59Speaker 1: from side players who circumvent the transfer portal, but the coaches, gms,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and attorneys who know the issue are divided on whether
- 4:08Speaker 1: that will hold up in court. The legislation approved and
- 4:12Speaker 1: poses severe penalties on programs that accept players who transfer
- 4:17Speaker 1: without entering the portal, a half season suspension for the
- 4:23Speaker 1: head coach, a fine equal to twenty percent of the
- 4:28Speaker 1: school's football budget. These are the stiffest fines ever proposed,
- 4:32Speaker 1: by the way, But again, will they make it through
- 4:36Speaker 1: the courts? Yeah? Probably not. Kaylin de boorr Is telling
- 4:40Speaker 1: on Three Sports he knew Michigan was interested in hiring him,
- 4:44Speaker 1: said to Bor, I'd have to be living under a rock.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'm not naive. I never talked to anyone, not one time.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I don't know how you could live with yourself and
- 4:54Speaker 1: look into the player's eyes if you're looking at other
- 4:56Speaker 1: opportunities in the midst of the season and getting ready
- 4:59Speaker 1: for for a playoff game and making a run at
- 5:03Speaker 1: a national championship. Meanwhile, you know this is going to
- 5:08Speaker 1: continue to happen. John Andrachek is the head coach at
- 5:14Speaker 1: Campbell University, home of the Camels. He resigned today saying
- 5:23Speaker 1: they're not going to pay to keep up. Despite months
- 5:26Speaker 1: of intense work in collaboration with athletic director Terrific Athletics administration,
- 5:31Speaker 1: several creative options proposed explored, there are no pathways that
- 5:37Speaker 1: the institution will support to fund the program appropriately moving forward. Again,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't think we have seen the last of this happening.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Tiger Woods has made his first public comments since his
- 5:55Speaker 1: crash at Dui Charge on Friday, said Tiger on his website.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I
- 6:05Speaker 1: find myself in today. I am stepping away for a
- 6:09Speaker 1: period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.
- 6:13Speaker 1: This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my
- 6:17Speaker 1: wellbeing and work toward lasting recovery. I'm committed to taking
- 6:22Speaker 1: the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, more
- 6:25Speaker 1: focused place personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and
- 6:30Speaker 1: support as for privhaecy for my family, loved ones, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: myself at this time. The Masters have put out a
- 6:39Speaker 1: statement saying, hey, Tiger ain't going to be here this
- 6:42Speaker 1: next week, and basically we hope he get help. And
- 6:46Speaker 1: the PGA Tour posted a nothing burger response today to
- 6:51Speaker 1: Tiger's announcement. But if he is serious, we hope it
- 6:56Speaker 1: takes and we hope he can get off the paid
- 7:00Speaker 1: edication to which he's been addicted for quite a while.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Speaking of the Masters, which starts next week, it's a shocker,
- 7:09Speaker 1: but Scotty Scheffler is the listed favor favorite on Bovada
- 7:14Speaker 1: betting at plus five hundred. Bryson d Chambeau and Rory
- 7:19Speaker 1: are plus eleven hundred, John Rohm plus twelve, Ludwig Oberg
- 7:24Speaker 1: plus eighteen along with Xanders Schoffley. Then Cameron Young and
- 7:28Speaker 1: Matt Fitzpatrick are on the list. It's a long list.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Chris Gottrup, who's been playing well, is plus fifty five hundred,
- 7:38Speaker 1: George Speed plus four thousand, along with Brooks Koepka and
- 7:44Speaker 1: right now at least again right now, the University of
- 7:50Speaker 1: Texas has four of the top ten most expensive football
- 7:55Speaker 1: tickets for the coming season. Number one on the list
- 7:59Speaker 1: averaging at six No. No, I don't think averaging. I
- 8:02Speaker 1: think this is the get in price versus Oklahoma and
- 8:06Speaker 1: the Cotton Bowl at six hundred and thirty four dollars.
- 8:09Speaker 1: The Texas A and M game at Kyle Field second
- 8:14Speaker 1: place at six hundred and thirty one dollars, Wisconsin Notre
- 8:20Speaker 1: Dame five hundred forty one dollars, Ohio State at Texas
- 8:25Speaker 1: five hundred twenty nine dollars, Army Navy four hundred eighteen dollars,
- 8:31Speaker 1: lsu Ole, Miss oh That'll be delicious for sixteen, Alabama,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Tennessee for fifteen, Michigan, Ohio State for ten Texas Tennessee
- 8:45Speaker 1: three ninety and Oklahoma, Georgia at three fifty five. That
- 8:52Speaker 1: means teams in the SEC one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 9:01Speaker 1: seven have seven of the top ten most expensive get
- 9:05Speaker 1: in ticket prices. Right now, kickoff is a long way away,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and the Big ten has two and then there's Army
- 9:15Speaker 1: and maybe so there you go. Okay, that will catch
- 9:22Speaker 1: you up a little bit on some things going on.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Scott Clandennon is here at the bottom of the hour.
- 9:29Speaker 1: We'll have some topics. We will compare notes on our
- 9:34Speaker 1: bracket and his was so similar to mine. I know
- 9:38Speaker 1: he's busted out. By the way, if you're playing Sports
- 9:42Speaker 1: Talk Madness, you can go on and look, yeah, let's
- 9:45Speaker 1: play this song just so we can play the song
- 9:49Speaker 1: because I love the one Shining Moment. We will hear
- 9:53Speaker 1: and see one Shining Moment Saturday evening, probably not till
- 9:58Speaker 1: about ten thirty or eleven clock because the games start
- 10:01Speaker 1: too late. But hey, that's just me anyway. Our Sports
- 10:06Speaker 1: Talk Madness contest brought to you by Chad Jones, Law
- 10:11Speaker 1: and Zornam and Flooring and good on you. If you
- 10:15Speaker 1: are near the top of the leaderboard. I think there's
- 10:18Speaker 1: a couple of names up there that are tied. Right now,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I can't even find my name on that later board.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's so far down. It's just it's not good. Anyway,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you can go online at schipower dot com to the
- 10:32Speaker 1: contest page and check where you are. You probably already
- 10:36Speaker 1: know where you are.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Now.
- 10:38Speaker 1: One team in the final four. I mean I've been
- 10:41Speaker 1: before without any final teams in the final four, so
- 10:44Speaker 1: at least I got one. I would have had the
- 10:47Speaker 1: two finalists if Duke hadn't have just choked so badly. Okay,
- 10:54Speaker 1: we'll take a break. We're going to talk to Maggie
- 10:56Speaker 1: Baseball after this for nco in Insurance.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Inco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 11:04Speaker 4: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While
- 11:08Speaker 4: our name has changed, we're still the same local team
- 11:10Speaker 4: you know and trust, now with even more to offer
- 11:13Speaker 4: from business insurance to personal protection and employee benefits. We're

- 11:20Speaker 4: service you expect now with the strength of Hub International
- 11:23Speaker 4: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 11:26Speaker 4: co Insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 11:30Speaker 1: On the Clark Eisenhower edition of Sports Talk, I visit
- 11:34Speaker 1: with Chronicle outdoor writer Matt Wyatt about the devastating freeze
- 11:38Speaker 1: in February of twenty twenty one that killed an estimated
- 11:41Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty thousand speckled trout.
- 11:43Speaker 5: That freeze and the fishkill that resulted from it, it
- 11:46Speaker 5: really put in motion a conservation movement, and what resulted
- 11:51Speaker 5: from that is a bunch of regulation changes that have
- 11:53Speaker 5: really shaped that coastal fishery and what we see today.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Join me aag Thursday at five as we go outdoors
- 11:59Speaker 1: exclusively on the zee.
- 12:11Speaker 3: H.
- 12:16Speaker 6: Well, Hello there, my.
- 12:23Speaker 1: This is Early Willie. He has done many versions of
- 12:27Speaker 1: this great song over the past, but this wouldn't one
- 12:31Speaker 1: of the originals.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Oh, I guess that I'm doing fun It's been so
- 12:44Speaker 6: long now, but it seemed now.
- 12:50Speaker 7: That it was all.
- 12:53Speaker 6: Yesterday. Gee had it funny.
- 13:01Speaker 8: Times?
- 13:11Speaker 9: How's your new love?
- 13:15Speaker 6: I hope that he's doing fine.
- 13:19Speaker 1: So tomorrow we have got our Clark Osenawer Outdoor Edition.
- 13:23Speaker 1: We are going fishing on Big Lake Linke Calcashew out
- 13:27Speaker 1: of Hackbury, Louisiana tomorrow. Also we'll have a high school report.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We will have a preview of Vanderbilt Texas A and M.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We will have some spring football, of course, and then
- 13:45Speaker 1: on Friday, Ryan will be here and I will be
- 13:51Speaker 1: up at Globe Life for the home opener. Finally, the
- 13:55Speaker 1: home opener for the Texas Rangers on Friday, and Heaven Grant.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Let's see. Mackenzie Gore is going to start that game
- 14:10Speaker 1: and have been set up before that. Jacob de Grom
- 14:14Speaker 1: was going to start, but de Gram was scratched from
- 14:16Speaker 1: his weekend start and last weekend, and so he pitched yesterday.
- 14:30Speaker 1: So back to back, what's a little troubling. And if
- 14:34Speaker 1: you're a Ranger fan, of course, I'm excited about the
- 14:38Speaker 1: four and two start and the fact that they've won
- 14:41Speaker 1: two road series. Maybe the stats are staggering, but I
- 14:48Speaker 1: don't know. It's been like forty something years since they
- 14:51Speaker 1: won two road series to start the season. But the
- 14:55Speaker 1: two aces have not been good. This was a second
- 15:00Speaker 1: start today of Nate and Valdi. He wasn't good. De
- 15:05Speaker 1: Gram had great stuff the way he always does in
- 15:09Speaker 1: last night's win, but he didn't make it through five
- 15:13Speaker 1: full innings. And I talked to Will, I talked to
- 15:18Speaker 1: Louis on his show today and you know, the disturbing
- 15:21Speaker 1: part about de Gram is he's got, you know, all
- 15:24Speaker 1: world stuff. But he had the issue last year of
- 15:29Speaker 1: going deep into games, right, I mean seldom a couple
- 15:34Speaker 1: of times. Was seldom to go past six innings. In fairness,
- 15:37Speaker 1: most starters don't go past six innings these days. But
- 15:40Speaker 1: he just had a hard time. He accumulated lots of pitches,
- 15:44Speaker 1: a lot of it because he's a strikeout pitcher. That's normal.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Avaldi was not like that. I mean, Avaldi was dominant
- 15:51Speaker 1: last year except for the Rangers season. In a better season,
- 15:58Speaker 1: may have won the Cy Young But man, he has
- 16:03Speaker 1: gotten two off to two really bad starts here in
- 16:09Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. He must be better. De Gram is
- 16:14Speaker 1: going to be the Grom. His stuff is good. But anyway,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that's that. Let's get to Aggie baseball sixteen to two
- 16:24Speaker 1: last night. What did I say yesterday? Man, that south
- 16:28Speaker 1: wind's blowing out, there's going to be some balls leaving
- 16:31Speaker 1: the yard. What happened? Well, there were nine extra base
- 16:36Speaker 1: hits by this Aggie team. They haven't had a lot
- 16:42Speaker 1: of problems hitting the polotas so far. A couple of
- 16:48Speaker 1: home runs Nico Partida is in foygo four more hits,
- 16:57Speaker 1: three hits from Goehope, Grahovk. Gonna hear from him here
- 17:00Speaker 1: in just a minute. In fact, i'll tell you what
- 17:03Speaker 1: Trey We're gonna hear from Gavid Grohovc. First, we'll hear
- 17:07Speaker 1: from Michael Early here in just a minute. Grohovic hit
- 17:11Speaker 1: a bob like I don't know, seven thousand feet something
- 17:15Speaker 1: like that, uh, four hundred and forty three feet and
- 17:19Speaker 1: left the bat at one oh nine. I'm telling you
- 17:23Speaker 1: that ball was hurting when it got hit. Here's Gavin
- 17:25Speaker 1: Grohovc afterwards.
- 17:27Speaker 10: Gavin, what's the baseball look like when you're up there?
- 17:31Speaker 11: I'm not gonna say a beach ball because that's cliche,
- 17:34Speaker 11: but now I'm seeing it, well, right now, it's a
- 17:36Speaker 11: little bigger than a cherry, a little smaller than a
- 17:41Speaker 11: like more of a bowling ball, a little smaller than that.
- 17:43Speaker 10: So so one house the handfield after Friday night.
- 17:48Speaker 7: It's good.
- 17:49Speaker 11: It's good, obviously, the scary situation, but you know, we
- 17:52Speaker 11: may do with what it was, and we're all good now.
- 17:54Speaker 10: And then for you, you've had a nice year, but
- 17:56Speaker 10: you hadn't seen the ball go out since until least
- 17:58Speaker 10: last three games. So how does that feel and how
- 18:01Speaker 10: does that allow you to get back to fielding maybe
- 18:04Speaker 10: more like your normal something.
- 18:05Speaker 7: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 18:06Speaker 11: I wouldn't say I didn't feel like myself. I just
- 18:08Speaker 11: you know, I needed to become a more all around
- 18:10Speaker 11: player and I felt like I was doing that. And
- 18:12Speaker 11: you know, I've gotten good pitches to hit the past
- 18:14Speaker 11: couple of games, and I've been producing for the team.
- 18:16Speaker 11: So that's really all that matters to me.
- 18:17Speaker 12: Away somebody who's been out to hit the ball all
- 18:20Speaker 12: your life, Like, what right now feels different? Is that
- 18:22Speaker 12: to feel different or is there a moment that clicked
- 18:24Speaker 12: for you?
- 18:26Speaker 11: Honestly, there was a swing that I took when I
- 18:27Speaker 11: was in Missou that I fell straight off to the
- 18:30Speaker 11: right side. Uh yeah, there was a story behind that,
- 18:33Speaker 11: but that swing honestly got me dialed in. Just keeping
- 18:35Speaker 11: me behind baseball is knowing that I can catch a
- 18:37Speaker 11: basketball de you can still do damage. So but overall,
- 18:40Speaker 11: it's just the mindset I got going right now, just
- 18:42Speaker 11: and you know, the trust that this this team and
- 18:44Speaker 11: the coach all having me, and you know, I want
- 18:46Speaker 11: to produce for the team. So that's what That's what
- 18:47Speaker 11: we're doing.
- 18:48Speaker 9: Where is this mindset of this team right now?
- 18:50Speaker 7: Especially on offense?
- 18:51Speaker 9: Just fourth you know, fourth straight double digit love scoring games.
- 18:56Speaker 11: Just continue to do damage, don't make any moment too big,
- 19:00Speaker 11: treat every inning like we're losing. So you know, we're
- 19:03Speaker 11: just gonna go up there were and to continue what
- 19:04Speaker 11: we do. We have a great lineup one through nine.
- 19:07Speaker 11: Obviously we see that with guys like Jorian hitting balls
- 19:10Speaker 11: you know, a mile long. But no, it's a great
- 19:13Speaker 11: offense right now, and I'm happy with what we're doing.
- 19:16Speaker 10: Who do you think went further yours?
- 19:17Speaker 11: Or statistically it said mind by three feet?
- 19:20Speaker 9: So have you already read that in this space?
- 19:24Speaker 10: Not yet?
- 19:26Speaker 2: Y'all hit multiple doubles tonight?
- 19:27Speaker 7: Can I know them meeting behind the selly.
- 19:32Speaker 11: It's more like we're rocket. It's like a rocket and
- 19:35Speaker 11: we're launching the rocket, so more like a rocket launcher.
- 19:38Speaker 11: I'll leave it at that.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Anything else.
- 19:42Speaker 13: As a player, how does it feel to see a
- 19:44Speaker 13: young kid like na go PARTI that being able to
- 19:47Speaker 13: hit four tonight?
- 19:48Speaker 11: It's awesome, man, I love. I mean, they don't feel
- 19:51Speaker 11: young like those guys came in and they were ready
- 19:53Speaker 11: to work. Those guys they show up like they're it's
- 19:56Speaker 11: nobody else's business and they get their job done. And
- 19:58Speaker 11: Nico Boston and Jory and whoever else you want to
- 20:01Speaker 11: thro out that as a freshmen or younger, like they've
- 20:03Speaker 11: done a great job all year.
- 20:04Speaker 1: So that's Gavin Grohovic. I just it was just flashed
- 20:10Speaker 1: up here. Baylor is playing Minnesota in the college that's
- 20:13Speaker 1: that postseason tournament in Vegas where they're paying people. It's
- 20:19Speaker 1: the quarterfin Well, I know they're paying people, but I mean,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you know, extra, what's it called.
- 20:27Speaker 7: The College Basketball Crown?
- 20:29Speaker 1: College Basketball Crown. That's in Vegas, right, it is in Vegas.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's a postseason tournament. And they got
- 20:39Speaker 1: some teams together, and I'm probably the first one to
- 20:46Speaker 1: ever talk about it outside of Waco. I mean, I
- 20:48Speaker 1: didn't even know Baylor was playing. Honestly, maybe this is
- 20:51Speaker 1: the first game. If it's the quarterfinals, maybe they have
- 20:54Speaker 1: you know, like eight teams in the tournament. I don't
- 20:57Speaker 1: know how many teams are in the tournament. And do
- 21:03Speaker 1: we know is it televised somewhere? I mean, these games
- 21:07Speaker 1: are almost always televised, but FS one is doing well.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I knew somebody had to be doing it, and who
- 21:13Speaker 1: else is playing? We've got the bracket. The field is set,
- 21:18Speaker 1: is what it says.
- 21:19Speaker 14: Oklahoma, Colorado, Oh you Colorado, Stanford, West Virginia, Rutgers, and Creighton.
- 21:26Speaker 14: So's there's four games, right or did they start before that?
- 21:32Speaker 1: That's got to be the only teams playing. I mean
- 21:34Speaker 1: eight teams, right, and they're playing two, four, six, eight
- 21:39Speaker 1: eight teams? I think anyway, it doesn't matter. I I
- 21:43Speaker 1: didn't know this was going on until I saw it
- 21:46Speaker 1: scrolled eight teams. Yeah, wow, Okay, hey, you know, is
- 21:54Speaker 1: this going to take over the n I because you
- 21:56Speaker 1: know the NCAA owns and runs the n IT as well. Right,
- 22:00Speaker 1: they took that over up I don't know how many
- 22:01Speaker 1: years ago, and depending I guess on how much money
- 22:06Speaker 1: they pay. I mean that's the incentive, right, you go
- 22:10Speaker 1: to Las Vegas, you get some extra cash. That's not bad.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Guys are going to be playing basketball anyway, you know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: even though they're not in the tournament. The season's over.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It beats practicing. How much winner gets three per per
- 22:28Speaker 1: per person the team? Okay, the team gets three hundred thousand, Okay,
- 22:35Speaker 1: so what twelve players? Thirty twenty five.
- 22:41Speaker 9: A man is an NL prize pool.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Oh it's a pool. Okay, Okay, Well, I mean, hey,
- 22:47Speaker 1: like you go to Vegas. How many of those guys
- 22:49Speaker 1: have already given back twenty thousand dollars at the tables? Right?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Because normally you'd say, hey, they're all freshmen, but mostly
- 22:57Speaker 1: all these guys are twenty four and twenty five and
- 22:59Speaker 1: twenty six years old these days, so they're they're legal
- 23:02Speaker 1: to be at the tables. Maybe next year instead of
- 23:07Speaker 1: going to the NCAA, Bucky can take the team to
- 23:10Speaker 1: Las Vegas. We can go cover that. Yeah, he probably
- 23:13Speaker 1: probably wouldn't go for that. Okay, back to baseball. Sorry,
- 23:16Speaker 1: we got diverted. I didn't. I mean I had read
- 23:19Speaker 1: about this tournament. I didn't know what was going on.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I didn't know who was playing in it. But hey,
- 23:27Speaker 1: pay the man. Okay.
- 23:29Speaker 15: Uh.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Let's hear from the skipper, Michael Early after last night's
- 23:34Speaker 1: beatdown of Sam.
- 23:35Speaker 10: Houston, coach, what has been the key to the offensive
- 23:39Speaker 10: success over the last a week and a half or so?
- 23:41Speaker 13: Now thing, I mean, we got a secret we got
- 23:43Speaker 13: I think we got some really good players and on
- 23:46Speaker 13: the balls in the zone, they're hitting hard. I think
- 23:48Speaker 13: they gave us a few tonight, just not some great
- 23:50Speaker 13: outfield play by them, but balls didn't play, hitting hard
- 23:53Speaker 13: and for the most part, scoring runners.
- 23:55Speaker 7: When he was supposed to score.
- 23:56Speaker 10: When it comes to Gavin Grohovic in the last three games,
- 23:59Speaker 10: he said, what are you seeing from him that's leading
- 24:02Speaker 10: the success?
- 24:03Speaker 7: He's like ball's travel. He avan's got a really tight,
- 24:05Speaker 7: short swing, and when he gets out in front, that
- 24:07Speaker 7: doesn't play. So he lets ball's travel.
- 24:08Speaker 13: And get to him get deep because he works hard.
- 24:12Speaker 13: He's blessed to be big and strong. That's a recipe
- 24:14Speaker 13: for success. And I think he's dode a really good
- 24:15Speaker 13: job controlling and strike something.
- 24:17Speaker 12: Another guy who's seen the ball well, Jordian Wilson, what
- 24:19Speaker 12: do you see in.
- 24:20Speaker 7: Front the own pressman.
- 24:22Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean it's hard to look past a couple
- 24:25Speaker 13: of his plays on the on the field right now.
- 24:26Speaker 7: I mean, he's got to be better than that. And
- 24:28Speaker 7: I know he's better than that. He's got to play
- 24:29Speaker 7: more aggressive.
- 24:31Speaker 13: But yeah, I mean he's I know he can hit
- 24:33Speaker 13: homers right, and that's awesome, that's great, But over the
- 24:36Speaker 13: course of time, homers hommers winny games. But we need
- 24:39Speaker 13: to play good defense, So not to shy away from
- 24:42Speaker 13: the question, but I'm still got that in my mind.
- 24:43Speaker 7: But yeah, I mean he's he's a very extremely talented kid.
- 24:48Speaker 13: When that's when that ball finds the barrel, where that
- 24:51Speaker 13: barrel finds the ball.
- 24:52Speaker 7: He's got a chance to hit it really hard.
- 24:53Speaker 13: Going back to that number, one's the last time he
- 24:55Speaker 13: saw a ball play right field bleachers. We've had some
- 24:58Speaker 13: pretty good left handed pretty good have tanned hitters here
- 25:00Speaker 13: over the course of a couple of years.
- 25:02Speaker 7: So it's an impressive homer.
- 25:03Speaker 13: But I've seen a couple of our guys go on
- 25:05Speaker 13: the road a few times, and Sorell sure has a
- 25:09Speaker 13: few in there as well.
- 25:10Speaker 9: It's kind it feels like when you guys score sometimes
- 25:12Speaker 9: you score a drove. Just what is about this group
- 25:14Speaker 9: that they just st are able to win? Everything's good,
- 25:16Speaker 9: it's it's really good.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 13: I just think we got a deep line up. I
- 25:18Speaker 13: mean that's you know right now, one through nine, it's
- 25:22Speaker 13: pretty it's you know, we want to be relentless, we
- 25:25Speaker 13: want to be methodical throughout the lineup, and I think
- 25:28Speaker 13: they do that and they kind of feed off it.
- 25:30Speaker 13: And you've got a lot of talented guys when it's
- 25:32Speaker 13: not doing great, you don't know who's going to be
- 25:34Speaker 13: the guy that started. I think Labuda let off a
- 25:36Speaker 13: couple of those innings hit by pitch or a walk,
- 25:40Speaker 13: and I think you might have come back around once
- 25:41Speaker 13: or twice. But just it takes one guy to spark it.
- 25:44Speaker 13: And I mean, you got a deep line up. There's
- 25:47Speaker 13: times where you don't know when we're starting them. You
- 25:50Speaker 13: know the leadoff hitter, right, you know, lead off once
- 25:51Speaker 13: in a game, it can it can be anywhere.
- 25:53Speaker 7: And that's that's what they've been doing so far and lately,
- 25:56Speaker 7: and it's been great.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Blake Bitroup has a hit in all but one of
- 25:59Speaker 5: his start Just what does he bring whenever?
- 26:01Speaker 9: You know he does, got the opportunity.
- 26:02Speaker 7: That for one he's producing, he's producing.
- 26:07Speaker 13: And I said to Monaco earlier, and I loved the
- 26:09Speaker 13: Steve Smith quote, like people say we have depth, and
- 26:12Speaker 13: like you're just a guy. You're a jag if you're
- 26:14Speaker 13: just playing right, You only have depth if you play well.
- 26:17Speaker 13: Right now, he's you know, his players lay into place.
- 26:19Speaker 13: He's he's playing, he's doing well. And those guys are
- 26:22Speaker 13: bringing up off the bench like they're finding ways to
- 26:24Speaker 13: contribute and too. Like again, it's only depth if they
- 26:27Speaker 13: play well or contribute in somewhat.
- 26:29Speaker 10: Would you see from the two arms in the back
- 26:31Speaker 10: off of the game, Vincent and Power.
- 26:33Speaker 7: Yeah, Vincent had the good one ink and then after
- 26:35Speaker 7: that like that was him.
- 26:37Speaker 13: After that he kind of lost a little bit, uh clearly,
- 26:41Speaker 13: so he's still work in progress. I mean, I'm not
- 26:44Speaker 13: sure how many times this year he's pitched in two
- 26:45Speaker 13: different innings, so learning experience from him.
- 26:48Speaker 7: Pitched down a little bit because we were scoring. He
- 26:52Speaker 7: just lost it.
- 26:52Speaker 13: But Powell was great, He was great. We wanted to
- 26:54Speaker 13: get him out there today and I'm glad we did so.
- 26:57Speaker 13: He did a nice job. I told him after the
- 26:58Speaker 13: game too, I don't I don't look at the scoreboard
- 27:02Speaker 13: when you come into pitch or when you're hitting, like
- 27:04Speaker 13: you have a job to do. So if that's a
- 27:06Speaker 13: one run ball game, he comes in with nobody, nobody
- 27:09Speaker 13: out to guys.
- 27:09Speaker 7: On and he gets out of it.
- 27:10Speaker 13: And that's why you know he got the lineup card
- 27:12Speaker 13: today because I thought that was a huge, huge thing
- 27:15Speaker 13: to come in and do.
- 27:16Speaker 12: To that point, you talk about just how deep in
- 27:18Speaker 12: you than one through nine as a manager, how challenge
- 27:21Speaker 12: is to kind of put a line up, you know
- 27:23Speaker 12: what's so many guys and so many options that should
- 27:25Speaker 12: have deserve to be in that line up, and.
- 27:26Speaker 13: A given night once on well one, two, three is
- 27:29Speaker 13: pretty easy and you always get when you're laying those
- 27:32Speaker 13: guys in there, and.
- 27:32Speaker 7: Then after that it's you know, we've been mixing around
- 27:34Speaker 7: with right field and d h.
- 27:36Speaker 13: I think this weekend the trio of t K, Jorian
- 27:40Speaker 13: and Bendy all played in two games, so that's that
- 27:44Speaker 13: part's good. And then when you know, getting bare off
- 27:46Speaker 13: his feet, we did it last week. Just you know,
- 27:47Speaker 13: we got a shorter week this week and we want
- 27:50Speaker 13: to keep it fresh. But when that, I think part
- 27:52Speaker 13: of it too is like that bottom the order is
- 27:53Speaker 13: getting on base. I think Kellner might be leading the
- 27:56Speaker 13: team in waltzers leading then walks Bear might have the.
- 27:58Speaker 7: Ice on base. Mood is on base twice today, so
- 28:01Speaker 7: that eight nine getting on for you know, the top
- 28:04Speaker 7: is really good.
- 28:04Speaker 10: You mentioned the short week. How nice is it to
- 28:06Speaker 10: be done early in your midweek when you have a shortest.
- 28:09Speaker 13: It's always nice to be done early. I prefer to
- 28:12Speaker 13: play seven as long as we win.
- 28:13Speaker 7: They had one more re dinner. But yeah, it's good.
- 28:16Speaker 7: It's good because it's a Wednesday.
- 28:18Speaker 13: Practice changes this week and that's why I told them
- 28:20Speaker 13: after the game, like Wednesday's usually we're pretty light kind
- 28:24Speaker 13: of guys, kind of just hitting the cage, do our
- 28:27Speaker 13: live abs, get him.
- 28:28Speaker 15: Out of here.
- 28:29Speaker 7: Thursday focused on the other team.
- 28:30Speaker 13: Well, it's a lot quicker, right, we're gonna be going
- 28:32Speaker 13: over all the Vanderbilt stuff and then getting ready to go.
- 28:34Speaker 12: Yeah to that point short week, use four arms today?
- 28:37Speaker 12: Is that how you executed and wanted to go? And
- 28:39Speaker 12: you know what type turn around there?
- 28:42Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean we've you know, our bullpen's our bullpen,
- 28:45Speaker 13: and why I think it's enough.
- 28:46Speaker 7: It's just enough, right, And we got to in.
- 28:49Speaker 13: Times like that when you get other guys out there,
- 28:50Speaker 13: plus you get to see guys and how they can
- 28:52Speaker 13: help you.
- 28:52Speaker 7: And Grant was great again, and I thought Cole was fine,
- 28:56Speaker 7: Like Cole is fine. Not not as good as it
- 28:58Speaker 7: was last week, but he got us off to.
- 29:00Speaker 13: A decent start. And seeing Vincent should have flashed of
- 29:04Speaker 13: what he can be. Right, he's ninety three, ninety five
- 29:05Speaker 13: with a.
- 29:06Speaker 7: Big breaker, just got to get a little more control.
- 29:08Speaker 7: And then getting a guy like Cooper out there.
- 29:10Speaker 13: It's another left He's going to run it up three
- 29:11Speaker 13: to four and has a good little cutter and it
- 29:13Speaker 13: gets split.
- 29:14Speaker 7: I don't think he threw to day, but yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 1: That's Michael Early after the win. Again, Vanderbilt in for
- 29:21Speaker 1: three starting tomorrow evening at six. We're on the air
- 29:25Speaker 1: at five forty five tomorrow and five forty five on
- 29:29Speaker 1: Friday and then Saturday afternoon to complete the three game
- 29:34Speaker 1: Easter weekend series. And this team continues to hit. It
- 29:39Speaker 1: looks like the wind is going to still stay in
- 29:44Speaker 1: the south at least until Saturday. So pop it up,
- 29:48Speaker 1: blow it out. But when you're hitting the ball one
- 29:51Speaker 1: hundred and nine miles per hour off the bat, you
- 29:54Speaker 1: don't really need the south wind to help. It just
- 29:57Speaker 1: takes it a little a little farther. Okay, we're going
- 30:01Speaker 1: to take a break. We're going to come back. Scott
- 30:04Speaker 1: cland Dinon is here and I was just watching the
- 30:08Speaker 1: goalies fighting. That's always fun when goalies fight. We will
- 30:13Speaker 1: come back. We'll have some topics we'll visit with Mallory
- 30:17Speaker 1: in the second hour of the program. Let me get
- 30:21Speaker 1: to my information here, but I do know that Sevchek

- 30:29Speaker 1: Easter weekend. They are closing the garage area good Friday
- 30:35Speaker 1: afternoon at two o'clock. Okay, they close at two o'clock
- 30:40Speaker 1: on Friday. The gasoline island will remain open until six
- 30:45Speaker 1: on Friday. There will be no service Saturday. Okay, nothing going.
- 30:51Speaker 1: So you can take your car back in on the
- 30:55Speaker 1: Monday after Easter. If you can't get it there by Friday,
- 31:00Speaker 1: you know, nunish depending on what's going on with your car. Now,

- 32:56Speaker 1: Having Kanty and Michelle are unsportsmanlife.
- 33:00Speaker 8: There is a little bit of a choke factor when
- 33:01Speaker 8: it comes to duke basketball and it spans the end
- 33:04Speaker 8: of coach K's tenure there and it's led over into
- 33:07Speaker 8: john Shire. So for as good as he's done following
- 33:10Speaker 8: up a legendary coach, it still hasn't it clips the
- 33:14Speaker 8: bar to clear of duke basketball and what has been
- 33:16Speaker 8: established the previous four decades unsportsmanlike.
- 33:20Speaker 19: Listen in weekday mornings from fining to eight on the
- 33:22Speaker 19: Zone E ninety three point seven FM.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Hello Walls, Hello Walls. If I'm not mistaken, and I'm
- 33:42Speaker 1: seldom mistaken about this this kind of stuff. These songs
- 33:47Speaker 1: came out of an album called and then I wrote
- 33:55Speaker 1: Funny How Time Slips Away? Hello Walls Crazy. Those are
- 34:00Speaker 1: the three of the songs that are on that album.
- 34:04Speaker 1: And I'm thinking as about nineteen sixty one when that
- 34:09Speaker 1: album came out. Scott Glndennon is here. It is all
- 34:13Speaker 1: Willie Wednesday. We were just talking some Major League baseball.
- 34:20Speaker 9: But before we go there, Yeah, I did hear a
- 34:22Speaker 9: Willy song today.
- 34:24Speaker 1: That you had not heard?
- 34:25Speaker 20: Oh no, that okay, it from my all time favorite. Okay,
- 34:28Speaker 20: don't hear it enough?
- 34:29Speaker 1: What is it?
- 34:31Speaker 9: Well? It's in his top ten songs, and I don't
- 34:35Speaker 9: hear it enough Okay, okay, I'd have to be crazy.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Oh I love that song.
- 34:40Speaker 9: I love that song.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Seve from Holtz wrote that song, yes, and performs on
- 34:44Speaker 1: that song in the background.
- 34:45Speaker 6: Yes.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great song. It's a great song. Do
- 34:48Speaker 1: you know when I first heard that song, it wasn't
- 34:50Speaker 1: Willy singing it. I heard Steve Fromholt sing that song.
- 34:54Speaker 1: And I saw him a couple of times when I
- 34:56Speaker 1: was in school. He was a big deal. He's a
- 34:59Speaker 1: great song. But he opened for Steven Stills in Dallas
- 35:06Speaker 1: in the early seventies. Okay, it was a summer and
- 35:10Speaker 1: I went and saw that and he opened for Stills.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And when he announced the title of that song, you know,
- 35:19Speaker 1: there was laughter in the audience. I'd have to be
- 35:21Speaker 1: crazy to fall out of love with you, basically. And
- 35:28Speaker 1: so I remember that song distinctly when he backed up
- 35:33Speaker 1: Stephen Stills. So, and I think Steve Fromholtz, I believe
- 35:39Speaker 1: this is right, died in an accident.
- 35:44Speaker 9: I'm going to look it up.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Okay, look and see. I feel like he died in
- 35:49Speaker 1: an accident, falling out of a deer stand or something
- 35:52Speaker 1: like that. I could be wildly wrong, could be another
- 35:56Speaker 1: singer songwriter I'm thinking about from that area. I know
- 36:00Speaker 1: he died fairly young.
- 36:01Speaker 20: Yeah, no, he did Texas Music Hall of Fame in
- 36:04Speaker 20: two thousand and three.
- 36:05Speaker 9: Okay, twenty fourteen, temple. Let's see here. Uh yes, rifle
- 36:17Speaker 9: fell from its case and discharge.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Oh I didn't. I didn't remember that.
- 36:21Speaker 9: I didn't route to the hospital.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Oh good gosh.
- 36:23Speaker 20: He was preparing to hunt Farah Hoggs who were killing
- 36:27Speaker 20: the baby goats on his ranch near his residence outside
- 36:30Speaker 20: El Dorado.
- 36:31Speaker 1: Okay, amazing, Okay, I knew it was an accident. I
- 36:36Speaker 1: thought it involved hunting. I didn't remember it was that.
- 36:39Speaker 1: But that's but anyway that today it's just yeah, you know, yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 9: Why don't I listen to this song enough?
- 36:47Speaker 1: Right? Right?
- 36:49Speaker 20: I get that he not Willie only has a thousand
- 36:53Speaker 20: of those he does.
- 36:54Speaker 1: And I pulled I pulled out the the Shotgun Willy
- 36:59Speaker 1: album like last year when I'm traveling, right, and I
- 37:02Speaker 1: just I just threw that up because I've got about
- 37:04Speaker 1: one hundred of his albums downloaded. I don't know, but
- 37:07Speaker 1: I just pulled that one up. And my wife goes,
- 37:10Speaker 1: that's a really good album. After it's done, right, yes,
- 37:13Speaker 1: and go yeah, that's a really good album. It He's
- 37:16Speaker 1: got a lot, He's got a lot of those, and
- 37:19Speaker 1: he's not finished. He has a new one coming out
- 37:21Speaker 1: at the end of this month, just in time for birthday.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Birthday and the picnic Yep Yep coming out this month. Okay,
- 37:32Speaker 1: major League Baseball, Okay, let's do major League Baseball and
- 37:35Speaker 1: I have this is this is very difficult. No, yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I'm apologizing. I had. It's difficult to do.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I had the Rangers clinching the Als by their seat,
- 37:47Speaker 1: by their home opener on Friday. You did, I did.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I said it. I'm not I'm not walking it back.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I said it. I believed it at the time.
- 37:56Speaker 9: But now, but I think it's changing a playoff Berth.
- 37:59Speaker 1: No, I'm thinking that it's it's going to be mathematically
- 38:04Speaker 1: impossible for that to happen by Friday. I'm thinking since
- 38:07Speaker 1: they lost today.
- 38:08Speaker 9: But a playoff Berth.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, definitely.
- 38:12Speaker 9: Okay, Oh yeah, I mean you can shift it to
- 38:14Speaker 9: a playoff.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Birth No, I'm not shifting anything. I thought they were
- 38:17Speaker 1: going to clinch the division by by Friday. A Valdi
- 38:23Speaker 1: was terrible.
- 38:24Speaker 9: Second, mean, he's going to with a one point fourteen.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I don't know he'll get it. He'll get it going.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Maybe he will. He's too good and less unless there's
- 38:33Speaker 1: something bothering him that we don't know about, right, because
- 38:36Speaker 1: that would explain a lot, because this is we haven't
- 38:40Speaker 1: seen this but a Ranger fans have not seen this
- 38:44Speaker 1: native Yes, Rangers, they have not seen that native ball.
- 38:47Speaker 20: Mean, the Red Sox did eventually and they said your
- 38:50Speaker 20: career is over, let's get rid of you.
- 38:52Speaker 1: And then well that was stupid, was it? Yeah? That
- 38:56Speaker 1: was stupid?
- 38:57Speaker 9: No, because he went to the Rangers.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Yeah, you're you're hoping he's gonna be like this all
- 39:01Speaker 1: season and unless unless there's an injury, there's no way
- 39:04Speaker 1: he'll be like this. He's too good.
- 39:06Speaker 9: Why do I have to hope of that?
- 39:08Speaker 1: Because of these like this all season? The Rangers are
- 39:11Speaker 1: gonna have trouble. They're their bullpen has already shot and
- 39:14Speaker 1: there's six games into the season, right, because again, I
- 39:18Speaker 1: know it's early.
- 39:19Speaker 6: Uh uh.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Last night, to Gram was limited to eighty pitches and.
- 39:25Speaker 9: This was to make up for the start he didn't
- 39:27Speaker 9: do on the weekend.
- 39:27Speaker 1: That's correct, He was still limited to eighty pitches. Okay,
- 39:31Speaker 1: because it was his opening opening start, and for the
- 39:36Speaker 1: most part he was really, really good. But the home
- 39:42Speaker 1: run ball has bothered him. It's bothered both EVOLDI and
- 39:46Speaker 1: to Grom at times.
- 39:49Speaker 20: But unless you play somebody better than Baltimore, doesn't really matter.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Well, I mean he was, he was sailing. I mean,
- 39:56Speaker 1: you know when he's pitching well and right, it's like, good, gosh,
- 40:01Speaker 1: he's unhittable, right, I mean he was unhittable stations. Oh no, no, no, no, no.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Now they won their game last night even though he
- 40:09Speaker 1: had a three Yeah, yeah, they won two out of three.
- 40:12Speaker 1: They won two out of three against at Philly. They
- 40:14Speaker 1: won two out of three here, first time they've opened
- 40:17Speaker 1: the road with two back to back road winning series
- 40:22Speaker 1: to open the season, and like maybe the history of
- 40:25Speaker 1: the Texas Rangers.
- 40:26Speaker 9: So why are you not.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I'm a little concerned about about the two best pictures
- 40:32Speaker 1: that they have on this roster right now. I'm not
- 40:36Speaker 1: concerned about de Gram. His stuff was filthy last night.
- 40:39Speaker 1: It was his first start. I think he'll be fine.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I'm more concerned about a VOULDI. It doesn't add up
- 40:45Speaker 1: right now, and that's why I'm concerned. There may be
- 40:47Speaker 1: something going on with him that we don't know about,
- 40:51Speaker 1: because that's just not what we've seen from him. And
- 40:55Speaker 1: he's just getting lit up. He had five he gave
- 40:59Speaker 1: up five two strike hits today. Okay. Usually his stuff
- 41:03Speaker 1: is way good enough to put stuff away, right, to
- 41:06Speaker 1: put batters away, right, And he gave up five two
- 41:09Speaker 1: strike hits and that's really unusual for him. Okay, we
- 41:13Speaker 1: did a break. We'll talk about the Astros when we
- 41:15Speaker 1: come back. The Astros Report is brought to you by

- 43:57Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about.
- 44:00Speaker 9: A two on the.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Zone live is a picture and I play the lead.
- 44:13Speaker 1: But my can you see the difference and can you
- 44:16Speaker 1: understand why Willie eventually left Nashville with with these highly
- 44:22Speaker 1: produced songs, strings in the background, the echo and the mic.
- 44:30Speaker 1: You know when when he when he turned in Redheaded Stranger,
- 44:34Speaker 1: they said, hey, uh, you know we like the songs.
- 44:38Speaker 1: When when is the final cut cut gonna come? You
- 44:41Speaker 1: know it? I mean we we kind of like it,
- 44:44Speaker 1: but but when are you going to do all of
- 44:45Speaker 1: the production and when do we get to hear that?
- 44:48Speaker 1: And Willie's like, no, no, no, you have the album.
- 44:51Speaker 1: The album is finished. They're like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 44:54Speaker 1: no no, you can't turn anything like that in. But
- 44:58Speaker 1: I mean just different day difference, right, and and the
- 45:02Speaker 1: production and everything.
- 45:04Speaker 9: Maybe we can hear I have to be crazy. We
- 45:06Speaker 9: can do that back.
- 45:08Speaker 1: We could do have to be crazy. It's not oh no,
- 45:11Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's it's later Willy. It's Austin Willy.
- 45:15Speaker 9: It's Austin will Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 1: Compared to compared to this, Yeah, compared to the big
- 45:19Speaker 1: production Nashville Willie, Yes, Okay.
- 45:22Speaker 20: Do you have the thing where he uh talks Texas history?
- 45:26Speaker 20: Do you have that album?
- 45:27Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 45:28Speaker 1: I think I do, Yes, Yeah, and then he he
- 45:32Speaker 1: he has the Texas song, yeah, and a couple others. Yeah,
- 45:37Speaker 1: he does the u uh Davy Crockett I think on
- 45:40Speaker 1: that album pretty sure. In fact, I know he does
- 45:43Speaker 1: because I heard Paula play it not too long ago. Okay,
- 45:47Speaker 1: we'll do, we'll get to I'd have to be crazy,
- 45:50Speaker 1: that's by request. Okay. Astros baseball, they won five in
- 45:54Speaker 1: a row. They're they're hitting the ball. Yes, they're pitching
- 45:59Speaker 1: pretty decent.
- 46:00Speaker 9: Pretty decent. Yeah, you were exactly right, But Garrett.
- 46:03Speaker 1: But I said, Garrett Crochet, you know who had been
- 46:06Speaker 1: who was lights out in the opener at Brilliant last year,
- 46:11Speaker 1: and the Astros let him up today. I didn't listen
- 46:14Speaker 1: to the game or watch it, right, I know Correy
- 46:17Speaker 1: has three run shot home run in the fifth was
- 46:20Speaker 1: the end of Garrett Crochet.
- 46:22Speaker 20: Crochet is seventeen and fifteen and two in his last
- 46:27Speaker 20: seventeen starts and his two loss or to the s.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Okay, so the Astros have his number, Yes, I have
- 46:32Speaker 1: his number. Okay, I didn't know that going in too bad.
- 46:34Speaker 1: They don't have his agent's number. Yeah, probably got the
- 46:39Speaker 1: devil anyway, so they know how to hit him.
- 46:42Speaker 20: Well, knowing how to hit crochet and actually do it
- 46:44Speaker 20: are two different things.
- 46:46Speaker 9: But no, after the first two games they have.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Figured him out. No, I'm saying, oh the first two
- 46:53Speaker 1: games that they lost. Yeah, yeah, yes, you were there
- 46:56Speaker 1: last week, right, travesty. You had just said there's no
- 47:00Speaker 1: way on the air. You had just said there's no
- 47:03Speaker 1: way they pitched the Mike Trout in a scoreless game.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Pitch Did I say, no way they pitched Mike Trout?
- 47:09Speaker 20: Why would you pitch the Mic Trout? Was I incorrect
- 47:11Speaker 20: in my.
- 47:13Speaker 1: I don't remember what you said. No, I said you'd
- 47:16Speaker 1: have to be I pitched to Mike Trout and a
- 47:19Speaker 1: scoreless Dame Nelson could change the word the words. The
- 47:22Speaker 1: words hadn't gotten out of your mouth until until uh
- 47:26Speaker 1: he he hit one a moonshot, right, yes, I mean
- 47:32Speaker 1: just the go what are you doing? And then somebody else, Homer,
- 47:35Speaker 1: I forget that they had another solo home.
- 47:37Speaker 9: The guy behind me. Was it back to back?
- 47:41Speaker 15: No?
- 47:41Speaker 1: Okay? The three run home run okay.
- 47:44Speaker 20: Because they went back to walking Trout and saying, well, well, yeah,
- 47:46Speaker 20: he's not going to beat us. No, he's not gonna
- 47:48Speaker 20: beat us. And was that guy did hit it? Off
- 47:52Speaker 20: of Christian Row.
- 47:54Speaker 1: So I was upset, okay, but you off you were
- 47:59Speaker 1: on Christian Walker's case. Yes, And the following game he
- 48:03Speaker 1: went on that game, No, No, I know he got
- 48:06Speaker 1: a hit.
- 48:07Speaker 9: He gotta hit.
- 48:08Speaker 1: He's horrible, and I understand what I'm talking about. On
- 48:11Speaker 1: the weekend he like had two or three rabbis, I know.
- 48:15Speaker 1: So you think it was your calling him out that
- 48:16Speaker 1: woke him up.
- 48:17Speaker 20: Well, they're not playing Jeremy Pangy yet only played that
- 48:20Speaker 20: one game.
- 48:22Speaker 1: And did he get hurt? Is that why he hadn't
- 48:23Speaker 1: played it?
- 48:24Speaker 9: No, he was.
- 48:24Speaker 20: He was hurting, and I think that they figured out that,
- 48:27Speaker 20: you know, maybe we need to give what's.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Wrong with him again? Broken finger okay, broke it in
- 48:32Speaker 1: the okay? Oh yeah? And Baseball Classic yes okay, yes, okay,
- 48:38Speaker 1: but so played short yes okay.
- 48:44Speaker 9: But this league really does not want to.
- 48:47Speaker 1: See has been pretty good by the way.
- 48:51Speaker 20: Uh yeah, well this is the batting averages through the
- 48:55Speaker 20: game today.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Now he had a knock at an RBI today, yes, okay.
- 49:01Speaker 9: Jordan Alvarez four seventeen.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he's smoking home run six RBIs.
- 49:06Speaker 9: Which really should be four home runs.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I think yesterday al TV had four hits.
- 49:11Speaker 9: Right, Yes, he had four hits, two home runs.
- 49:14Speaker 1: He had another hit today, yep, so.
- 49:15Speaker 9: Three forty eight.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Christian Walker, I don't know how Oh I've got I've
- 49:20Speaker 1: got the ba's right here. Three thirty three. Christian Walker
- 49:24Speaker 1: is hitting three thirty three. The guy that you want
- 49:25Speaker 1: to give up.
- 49:26Speaker 20: Yes, he's hot trading now.
- 49:29Speaker 1: He had a single an RBI today.
- 49:31Speaker 9: What about parades?
- 49:32Speaker 1: Parades had a double a an RBI and he is
- 49:35Speaker 1: hitting two twenty seven.
- 49:36Speaker 9: Yeah, he was two seventeen to four.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Okay, so he kepped his average today.
- 49:40Speaker 9: Yeah, Korea three ninety six.
- 49:42Speaker 1: What do you have? Correa is hitting two ninety six. Yeah,
- 49:47Speaker 1: and then the bottom of the order really falls off. Yeah.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Den Myers, Matthews, z uh and Diz didn't play today.
- 49:57Speaker 1: Viasquez caught today. U. But the bottom third of the
- 50:02Speaker 1: order is is like Bendoza territory.
- 50:04Speaker 9: Yes, but it doesn't really matter.
- 50:07Speaker 1: It doesn't matter to scoring.
- 50:10Speaker 20: You know, Valvarez and al Tuve are doing what they're doing. True,
- 50:18Speaker 20: that is not what the American League West wants to see.
- 50:21Speaker 20: Is a healthy ord On Alvarez play one hundred and
- 50:23Speaker 20: fifty games?
- 50:24Speaker 1: Yeah, The question is Canny I mean, that's the question, right,
- 50:28Speaker 1: can't he do it?
- 50:28Speaker 9: He's got stolen base is your chip?
- 50:30Speaker 1: No way he does That's awesome.
- 50:34Speaker 20: But I think that you know, pitching, pitching, middle relief
- 50:38Speaker 20: has been good, okay. You know, starters have been okay.
- 50:44Speaker 20: You know you have Burroughs today, Burrows.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Five, five hits, two runs. Yeah, not terrible, struck out six.
- 50:52Speaker 1: But he did walk three.
- 50:53Speaker 9: Yes, uh, quality start for Hunter Brown.
- 50:57Speaker 1: By the way of all, they walked three today. That's
- 51:00Speaker 1: that's about two and a half more batters per game
- 51:02Speaker 1: than he walks in eight innings. Right, yes, so I'm
- 51:06Speaker 1: that's why so you say something's wrong, That's why I'm concerned,
- 51:09Speaker 1: because he just doesn't walk batters. And again he didn't
- 51:13Speaker 1: give up you know, hits with two strikes very often,
- 51:16Speaker 1: and so that, yeah, there there is some concern there.
- 51:19Speaker 20: And you were exactly right with your commentary yesterday about
- 51:26Speaker 20: las m.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Kullers.
- 51:28Speaker 9: That was not overthrowing pitching, cutting up the Red Sox
- 51:34Speaker 9: lineup over and over again.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Well, look, when he's been healthy, he can he can
- 51:40Speaker 1: do that to any any lineup, right, He's done that
- 51:43Speaker 1: historically to any lineup. But that's a huge phrase when
- 51:46Speaker 1: he's been healthy, yes, because he missed two years.
- 51:49Speaker 20: But he's also But the other thing is, is he
- 51:51Speaker 20: been healthy? Well, I don't want to see him go
- 51:55Speaker 20: out and try to do more than he can and
- 51:58Speaker 20: put his health at risk. He was not trying to
- 52:01Speaker 20: reach back and throw ninety five miles an hour. Okay,
- 52:05Speaker 20: he doesn't throw the curveball like he used to. That
- 52:08Speaker 20: was causing strain on his elbow. He has a different picture,
- 52:12Speaker 20: and you can be a successful pitcher.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Well.
- 52:15Speaker 1: A lot of these guys learn that. A lot of
- 52:17Speaker 1: them don't learn it right, But a lot of them
- 52:19Speaker 1: do because they use the experience that they've had and
- 52:23Speaker 1: they've become crafty veterans, right, Yes, and they understand they
- 52:27Speaker 1: don't have to strike every batter out that they face,
- 52:30Speaker 1: and when you're younger, a lot of guys don't. There.
- 52:33Speaker 20: He also posted out nine because he was still able
- 52:37Speaker 20: to stay away from the walk.
- 52:38Speaker 9: I think he had a walk in his last inning
- 52:40Speaker 9: he was out there.
- 52:41Speaker 1: How many innings you throw yesterday? Seven? Yeah? You know
- 52:45Speaker 1: Rangers would kill for a pitcher to go seven innings
- 52:47Speaker 1: right now? So the Aggies, yeah, no kidding, what are
- 52:51Speaker 1: they going to do with SIDEO? We talked about this
- 52:54Speaker 1: every week. They're gonna leave him, Yes, they're gonna leave
- 52:56Speaker 1: him for now. Yes, okay, Chip.
- 53:00Speaker 20: It's kind of funny because in twenty twenty two, week
- 53:04Speaker 20: after week we talked about the fact that A and
- 53:06Speaker 20: M cannot continue to win by bashing people when you
- 53:11Speaker 20: don't have pitching starting pitching because it wasn't there. Okay,
- 53:16Speaker 20: you can't do it at some point in time, it's
- 53:19Speaker 20: gonna fail you. Well, it failed against Oklahoma and the.
- 53:23Speaker 9: Cult World Series.
- 53:24Speaker 20: They lost the two games they played Oklahoma in the
- 53:26Speaker 20: Cult World Series, they made their run. This offense and
- 53:30Speaker 20: how it's going is significantly better than that. And I
- 53:33Speaker 20: don't know, if you want to talk deeper, yes, and
- 53:37Speaker 20: the bad with more guys that have pop and more
- 53:40Speaker 20: guys at that pop, still more guys on the.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Bench right deep deep? Yeah, I mean, uh, what about
- 53:48Speaker 1: labudhat Catcher last night?
- 53:51Speaker 9: I gave Bear some time off.
- 53:52Speaker 1: I mean it's not yeah, yeah, I know it was
- 53:54Speaker 1: a big deal, but yeah, you know, I thought.
- 53:58Speaker 9: It was kind of interesting considering how Sam Houston wants
- 54:02Speaker 9: to run.
- 54:03Speaker 20: That's given you put some trust out there, and Labuda
- 54:06Speaker 20: is going to be able to control the running game.
- 54:09Speaker 20: And you know, Sam had a couple of steals, but
- 54:11Speaker 20: it wasn't and also the score got out of hand.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Jorian Wilson in the field has not been particularly pretty yet.
- 54:22Speaker 20: Jorian Wilson will do something in each game that you
- 54:25Speaker 20: sit there and say, that's a young.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Shake your head, and you shake your head. But then
- 54:30Speaker 1: he'll hit one five hundred feet you go, fo nine.
- 54:33Speaker 20: They added a foot to that. It was four thirty nine.
- 54:36Speaker 20: I have a picture of the track man that says
- 54:38Speaker 20: it's four thirty nine, and here we are fluffing stats
- 54:41Speaker 20: and making it four forty when it was only four
- 54:44Speaker 20: hundred and thirty nine feet.
- 54:45Speaker 1: Well, Grahovic mentioned, you know with my postscape comments that
- 54:49Speaker 1: that hey, his was three feet more. So now you're
- 54:51Speaker 1: saying officially four feet it was four feet bore.
- 54:54Speaker 9: I mean, I'll show you the picture here during the break.
- 54:57Speaker 1: But that's funny. No.
- 55:00Speaker 9: I just think that you know, four teams, four teams
- 55:06Speaker 9: that at either.
- 55:08Speaker 20: The BIGS or the top of college baseball. If you
- 55:12Speaker 20: can slug like this, you have a chance to win
- 55:15Speaker 20: all the time. Seattle won last year because they slugged,
- 55:19Speaker 20: not because all of a sudden they they'd always been pitching,
- 55:22Speaker 20: but they went out and got guys at the at
- 55:25Speaker 20: the you know, at the trade deadline that would hit
- 55:28Speaker 20: and they became the team that you know, nobody wanted
- 55:30Speaker 20: to see.
- 55:32Speaker 9: I mean, the Yankees didn't pitch very well last year.
- 55:34Speaker 20: They did, but they still slugged. Yeah, so that's basically
- 55:38Speaker 20: what the game is now. Your Rangers could pitch last year,
- 55:42Speaker 20: but you couldn't slug.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Could not couldn't hit anything. So you're right, Okay, we
- 55:48Speaker 1: did a break, we'll close out the first hour. We've
- 55:50Speaker 1: got more to come. Putting off kind of comparing brackets
- 55:54Speaker 1: and such, because that hasn't been pretty. David Gardner's Jewelers Remember.
