- 0:01It is much easier to see and criticize others for their ideas
- 0:07Behavior or habit, then to see in oneself, potentially those
- 0:12same issues. Jesus raised this issue in his
- 0:16Sermon on the Mount. And why beholdest thou?
- 0:20The mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest
- 0:24not the beam that is in thine own eye.
- 0:27Or how wilt thou say to thy brother.
- 0:30Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye.
- 0:33And behold a beam is in thine own eye.
- 0:38Thou hypocrite, First cast out the beam out of thine own eye,
- 0:43and then shalt thou See, Clearly to cast out the mote out of thy
- 0:48brother's eye, Jesus is admonishing, his followers about
- 0:53not judging others, when one does not see one's own faults.
- 0:59The mother takes this to a deeper level by helping us see
- 1:03that the natural Affinity by which we can see and understand
- 1:07the actions and motives of others is part of the
- 1:10synchronicity of the universal creation that implies, that what
- 1:15we see has its own Roots within ourselves.
- 1:19And in many cases the actions, which we find the most abhorrent
- 1:24are those which we carry within ourselves active or latent.
- 1:29As the case may be. The mother writes quote.
- 1:35It is rather remarkable that when we have a weakness for
- 1:39example, a ridiculous habit, a defect or an imperfection since
- 1:45it is more or less part of our nature, we consider it to be
- 1:48very natural. It does not Shock us.
- 1:52But as soon as we see this same weakness, the same imperfection,
- 1:56the same ridiculous Habit in someone else, it seems quite
- 2:01shocking to us. And we say what?
- 2:04He's like that without noticing that, we ourselves are like
- 2:09that. And so do the weakness and
- 2:14imperfection, we, add the absurdity of not even noticing
- 2:18them. There's a lesson to be drawn
- 2:21from this when something in a person seems to you completely
- 2:26unacceptable or ridiculous. What is like that?
- 2:30He'd be caves like that? He says, things like that, he
- 2:34does things like that. You should say to yourself.
- 2:38Well, well, but perhaps I do the same thing without being aware
- 2:42of it. I would do better to look into
- 2:45myself first before criticizing him.
- 2:49So as to make sure that I am not doing the very same thing in a
- 2:52slightly different way. If you have the good sense and
- 2:57intelligence to do this, each time you are shocked by another
- 3:00person's Behavior. You will realize that in life.
- 3:05Your relations with others are like a mirror, which is
- 3:08presented to you so that you can see more easily.
- 3:11And clearly the Weaknesses you carry within you.
- 3:16And a general and almost absolute way.
- 3:19Anything that shocks you in other people is the very thing
- 3:23you carry in yourself in a more or less veiled, more or less
- 3:27hidden form though perhaps in a slightly different guys which
- 3:33allows you to delude yourself. And what in yourself seems
- 3:37inoffensive enough becomes monstrous as soon as you see it
- 3:42in others and quote reference SRI aurobindo in the mother
