- 0:43Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:48culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:51media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:54through Thursday. I'm your host, Lauren Meissner,
- 0:57the founder of the youth digital media brand Centennial World.
- 1:02Welcome back to Mini Scroll everyone.
- 1:04OK wanted to address 2 housekeeping things.
- 1:06The first is I got a question. Why high stakes?
- 1:10Their episode from Thursday wasn't published on our RSS
- 1:14feed, so like on infinite Scrolls like Apple Podcasts or
- 1:17Spotify. And that's because they have
- 1:19their own dedicated RSS feed. So I'll link it down below.
- 1:23But basically we're going to put their episodes on YouTube like
- 1:26because we've rebranded our YouTube channel to the
- 1:28Centennial World Podcast Network YouTube channel, but they're
- 1:32going to have their own dedicated RSS feed.
- 1:34So we only put the first episode of their podcast 2 weeks ago on
- 1:38our feed as like a teaser to drive you guys to their podcast.
- 1:42So go subscribe to them at their own feed on Spotify or Apple or
- 1:47anywhere that you listen to podcasts.
- 1:49The next thing I want to tell you guys about, so as some of
- 1:52you might know, Danny, who was our video editor, who did all of
- 1:55our podcast editing for the deep dives, she has left us, she
- 1:58actually got a really cool social job at MasterChef.
- 2:01Anytime anyone leaves the business and they get a really
- 2:03cool job, I feel like it's proof of concept for me and it just
- 2:07like keeps me going a little bit, you know, because I'm like,
- 2:10wow, their experience here with like what I'm building has
- 2:13helped them get this really mainstream opportunity or this
- 2:16like really cool opportunity. So it feels like very exciting
- 2:20for me that she got a cool job. But with that being said, you
- 2:23guys know I'm like always pretty open about how things are going.
- 2:26And I know it probably looks like things are like thriving
- 2:29over here. And in like, in some ways they
- 2:31are. It's really weird.
- 2:32I'm at this very weird place where like the brand has more
- 2:35recognition than we've ever had. I have more personal recognition
- 2:39and like more opportunities. Like my personal career as the
- 2:41founder of Centennial World as like an Internet culture expert
- 2:45is bigger and better than it's ever been.
- 2:48But then like commercially, the business has actually been
- 2:51struggling a lot these last two quarters, so I can't replace
- 2:55Danny right now. So what we're going to do is for
- 2:58the Friday deep dives, we will be having at least one a month,
- 3:03possibly 2, but we're going to scale it back to at least one a
- 3:06month. I'm really sorry.
- 3:07I know some of you guys love the deep dives, but on the weeks
- 3:10that I don't do a deep dive, I will actually do mini scroll on
- 3:13Fridays instead. So you guys will still get 5
- 3:16episodes a week, but it might not always be a deep dive on
- 3:19Fridays. It might be mini scroll, which I
- 3:21know some of you guys will also prefer.
- 3:23So that's the compromise for now until we get into a better
- 3:26position and I can get us a video editor again.
- 3:29All right, let's get into the stories for today, because the
- 3:31first three that I have for you guys is so long and I fear how
- 3:35long this podcast episode will be.
- 3:37So I'm going to be giving you guys an update on the Michaela
- 3:40Testa and a Paul Addis Paul situation, because so much has
- 3:44gone down over the last two weeks and I haven't talked about
- 3:47it since everything first went down back in January.
- 3:50And I actually think the high stakes girls are going to do
- 3:53like a deep dive into this, a more in depth coverage of this.
- 3:56So this will be I mean, I I struggle being high level, but
- 4:00this will be relatively high level in the scheme of things.
- 4:03And then yes, I think they will do their own deep dive.
- 4:06So I'll direct you guys that one for like further detail.
- 4:09But before I get into the story, trigger warning this story is
- 4:12going to cover sexual abuse, manipulation, fat shaming,
- 4:16animal abuse and many other triggering topics.
- 4:20If you are not in that headspace, definitely go to the
- 4:22time stamps down below. I always have time stamps in
- 4:25every description so you can skip this story.
- 4:28OK, so over the course of the last two weeks, the Michaela
- 4:30Testa Ana Paul situation has really escalated after Michaela
- 4:34released 2/2 and 1/2 hour long podcast episodes expanding on
- 4:38her claims about the Australian influencer Anna Paul and her
- 4:42brother Addis. I covered the original claims
- 4:45and all of that on mini scroll like I said, so I won't rehash
- 4:48all of it here. But for context, Michaela and
- 4:51Anna were longtime friends. They both do only fans and
- 4:55influencing. And Michaela dated Anna's
- 4:57brother Addis from 2019 to 2022. Michaela also lived with the
- 5:01Paul family for a while while dating Addis.
- 5:04At the end of January, Michaela released a lengthy video on
- 5:07TikTok calling Anna Paul out for a ton of problematic behavior,
- 5:12basically saying that her fans have no idea who the real Anna
- 5:15is. Michaela accused Anna of being a
- 5:17fraud, of lying to fans about how nice she is, lying about how
- 5:21wealthy she grew up, and she also accused Anna's brother
- 5:24Addis of abuse. Anna responded in her own TikTok
- 5:27video, which has now been memed across the Internet because of
- 5:31the infamous It makes me Feel Broke quote from this response.
- 5:36OK so Michaela has been saying that she wanted to take some of
- 5:39her accusations to the police rather than the Internet.
- 5:42But she did return a week and a half ago with two podcasts
- 5:46episodes detailing her experience with the Paul family.
- 5:49And now Anna and Addis have both responded.
- 5:52Michaela's episode double s down on her original accusations with
- 5:55a lot of receipts and further context.
- 5:58Some of the main takeaways. So like I said this, so this is
- 6:01essentially 5 hours of footage. So these are like the main
- 6:03takeaways. Michaela said that the family
- 6:06would often make fun of people's looks, like saying that Sofa
- 6:09Dofa's eyes are too close together.
- 6:11Sofa Dofa is another Australian TikTok star and fat shaming.
- 6:16Anna's ex-boyfriend Glenn Michaela claims Anna's mother
- 6:19was really manipulative and that her dad actually is homeless and
- 6:23is not doing van life despite what Anna claims.
- 6:27So this was a whole thing, but Anna's dad lives in his car in
- 6:32his van, and the Paul family claims he's doing van life like
- 6:35it's because he's trying to have this, like, fun experience
- 6:38traveling around Australia. But then other influencers who
- 6:41know the Paul family personally, including Michaela, are saying
- 6:44like, that's not true. And she seemed to say or like,
- 6:47insinuate that their mother is the reason for this.
- 6:50The insinuated throughout the episode that Anna's mother is
- 6:52like, controlling and has kind of created this really a meshed
- 6:56dynamic and like toxic dynamic within their family.
- 6:59She claimed Addis, Anna's brother, would take Anna's only
- 7:04fans content for her. And she had a lot to say about
- 7:10how Anna was enabling Addis's deeply disturbing behavior.
- 7:14And yeah, talked about how the family was basically enmeshed in
- 7:17a very unhealthy way. She then detailed some really
- 7:19dark things that allegedly happened in her relationship
- 7:22with Addis. First, she claimed that Addis
- 7:24had been charged with rape. Now, this is a quote directly
- 7:27from the Daily Mail that I found.
- 7:29Quote According to court documents obtained by the
- 7:31Courier Mail, Addis, 24, legal name Johannes Theodore Paul,
- 7:36pleaded guilty to three charges of carnal knowledge of a girl
- 7:39aged 12 to 16 in incidents which occurred between December 2017
- 7:44and October 2018. Addis was aged 16 to 17 at the
- 7:48time of the offenses, however he was dealt with as an adult since
- 7:51criminal proceedings began in 2022.
- 7:54He was sentenced at Southport District Court a $1500
- 7:57recognitions, given a 12 month good behavior bond and ordered
- 8:01to pay $1000 compensation. No convictions were recorded.
- 8:05Michaela also talked about how she compared horror stories with
- 8:08Addis's exes and she claims that they have similar stories as
- 8:12well. Similar like stories of abuse as
- 8:14well. She said Addis was taking 50% of
- 8:18Michaela's Only Fans money and he was trying to start his own
- 8:21Only Fans management agency. She then claims that he slit his
- 8:26wrist in front of her during a fight, would threaten suicide,
- 8:30and that he would, this is really horrific, rape her in her
- 8:33sleep while she was taking sleeping pills.
- 8:36She also accused Anna of animal abuse, talking about how she got
- 8:39all these pets for views and basically doesn't treat them
- 8:42very well. Her story is so harrowing and
- 8:45she does say throughout it that she's not the perfect victim and
- 8:48she's done some really horrible things that contributed to a lot
- 8:51of what was going on in that household and going on in her
- 8:54relationship, but that she, you know, wanted to speak out about
- 8:57all of this. So Anna has now responded to
- 9:01Michaela's podcast episodes. A few days ago, Anna essentially
- 9:04said she will not speak on Michaela and Addis's
- 9:06relationship because it was between the two of them.
- 9:09And then she denied most of Michaela's claims that were
- 9:12directly about her. She denied abusing and
- 9:15neglecting her animals. And she did come with some
- 9:17receipts that I would say seemed to debunk that she she mistreats
- 9:20her animals. Anna said that this animal stuff
- 9:23is a projection from Michaela because when Michaela's cat was
- 9:27an inconvenience to her, she had her assistant drop it off at a
- 9:30shelter. Anna also says her dad is not
- 9:32homeless or neglected, and she showed alleged proof that she
- 9:36sends her dad money all the time.
- 9:38She also addressed Michaela's claims that Anna hates
- 9:41influencer Jack Cooper. And Anna said that was really
- 9:44personal to her because she loves Jack.
- 9:46And then Jack himself actually responded to this and was like,
- 9:49I've only met Anna Paul twice. Like, I don't know what's going
- 9:52on. She responded to a lot of other
- 9:54allegations that Michaela had. But the general sentiment from
- 9:58fans around this response is that Anna chose to respond to
- 10:02kind of like a relevant or like less damaging claims.
- 10:05And she really avoided a lot of the more serious claims that
- 10:09Michaela made. The same day that Anna posted
- 10:12her address on TikTok, Addis made a post on Instagram.
- 10:17He said. I'm sorry it's taken me so long
- 10:19to speak. I had hoped that Mick would find
- 10:21peace after telling her story and I could continue to stay off
- 10:23the Internet. But it seems she is intent on
- 10:26using our toxic relationship as a weapon to destroy Anna and
- 10:30assume her life. I want to start by saying Anna
- 10:32had no place in our relationship and surely in 2025 we can agree
- 10:36that my mistakes are mine. He went on to say that their
- 10:38relationship was toxic, unhealthy, and destroyed both of
- 10:41their mental health. He said some of the stories she
- 10:44has told are true, most are absurdly exaggerated, and some
- 10:47are so twisted I'm in shock. He talked about how Michaela
- 10:50struggled with her mental health largely because of her childhood
- 10:53that they all urged her to seek support in their own ways.
- 10:57A few key facts to clarify right away.
- 10:59I never had sex with Mick while she was asleep, never ran at her
- 11:03with a knife or touched her in anger.
- 11:05And there was never a time when I cut my wrist and spread blood
- 11:07on a wall. He then tried to outline how
- 11:11their working relationship was because he was like her quote,
- 11:15UN quote, I guess, like manager for only fans.
- 11:17And so he like, divided, like Michaela's role and his role in
- 11:21like what her career was. It goes on and on.
- 11:24There's 20 slides on his Instagram and then he has even
- 11:28more slides in his next post on Instagram.
- 11:32He says the next slides are various TikTok mix shared after
- 11:35we broke up publicly stalking my dad, admitting to tracking me on
- 11:39a separate phone and calling out any girls I spoke to.
- 11:42And then he just has all these like Tik toks.
- 11:44OK, sure. So then Veruca Salt got
- 11:47involved. Veruca Salt is another
- 11:49Australian influencer and last year she actually went semi
- 11:53viral when she took to TikTok and claimed she had recently
- 11:56discovered that Anna Paul's dad was homeless despite Anna having
- 12:00millions of dollars. So she was like the one that
- 12:02brought this to the Internet, this like narrative to the
- 12:04Internet. And she stood by her claims in
- 12:07her response. She made a video a couple days
- 12:08ago and she has always stood by that.
- 12:11She's always said, like, I know for a fact that he wants to be
- 12:15living in a home with them and that there's something going on
- 12:18where like they won't support him, they neglect him, whatever.
- 12:21And anyways, now after Michaela's videos, Veruca has
- 12:24doubled down and was like, if Anna's dad loves van life so
- 12:28much, why isn't he traveling? Why is he living in a grocery
- 12:31store parking lot down the street from Anna?
- 12:33So yes, that is a high level recap of everything that has
- 12:36gone on recently between all of these people.
- 12:39And I just feel so bad for Michaela.
- 12:46I I don't know about the Anna stuff like their relationship,
- 12:50their friendship. And also at the end of the day,
- 12:52like we'll never really know in terms of like their friendship
- 12:54specifically. But when it comes to Michaela's
- 12:57accusations against Addis and just some of the family
- 13:01dynamics, like I choose to believe that and it's all just
- 13:06sounds so traumatic. And I'm just so sorry for
- 13:10Michaela. I think Anna Paul is probably
- 13:12just going to go back to posting like normal.
- 13:14I don't see another way through. I also think Michaela said she
- 13:17was going to post another video, but she hasn't yet.
- 13:20I'm not sure. But yeah.
- 13:21So I'll keep you guys posted on that.
- 13:23But like I said, if you want a more like comprehensive deep
- 13:26dive, the high Stakes girls will do that for you guys in the next
- 13:30couple of weeks. OK, the next story that I have
- 13:32for you guys is that an American YouTube has been arrested after
- 13:36visiting a remote island tribe and leaving behind a can of Diet
- 13:41Coke. I know that this headline sounds
- 13:44like satire, but it's not, and it's actually a really messed up
- 13:47story. So a 24 year old American
- 13:50YouTube, and I'm sorry I'm going to butcher this, but he's named
- 13:53Mikhailo Viktorovich Polyakov I think has been arrested after
- 14:00sneaking onto North Sentinel Island in an attempt to meet an
- 14:03uncontacted tribe. If you guys are into YouTube
- 14:06trends that you actually might know about this tribe.
- 14:08I have learned all about this tribe because there were tons of
- 14:11video essays about them over the last few years.
- 14:15But essentially they are on this tiny island that is part of
- 14:18India's and a man islands, and they are untouched by the modern
- 14:22world. No one is allowed to travel
- 14:25within about 5 kilometers of the island to protect them, to
- 14:28protect their way of life and to protect their immunity.
- 14:31And they were trending on YouTube a few years ago after a
- 14:3427 year old American missionary went to the island trying to
- 14:38spread the word of the gospel. And they presumably killed him.
- 14:42But there's no way to actually know that or Fact Check that
- 14:47apparently, because there's no way to recover the body because
- 14:50it's illegal to go on the island.
- 14:52And it's also just like really dangerous for this tribe.
- 14:54So they're not going to try and like recover the body.
- 14:57But yes, they presumably he is like presumed dead.
- 15:00They presumably killed him. So now this YouTube has
- 15:04illegally visited the island. He spent about 10 minutes there.
- 15:08He left behind a coconut and a can of Diet Coke.
- 15:13He also collected sand samples and you guessed it, he's locked
- 15:19it. This is some serious entitlement
- 15:22if I have ever heard of it. Like this is literally why
- 15:26people hate influencers. Like anything for content, these
- 15:31people are uncontacted. I mean, you guys, like I said,
- 15:34you can watch, you can read all about them.
- 15:36You can watch all these videos on them.
- 15:38They have no herd immunity to any of the, you know, viruses,
- 15:41diseases, anything that like we carry.
- 15:43It's so dangerous for anyone to make contact with them.
- 15:45Not to mention, just like from their own, I don't know,
- 15:49collective mental health perspective.
- 15:52I think in theory we believe that they don't know that the
- 15:55rest of the world exists. There is footage of them looking
- 16:00up at a plane, like when planes have flown over to like take
- 16:02photos of them and stuff and like shooting arrows at them.
- 16:05But like, they don't in theory know that other people exist.
- 16:08So they're not like zoo animals and trying to like vlog your
- 16:13experience like in the name of content.
- 16:15What did you think was would happen?
- 16:17It's literally illegal to go there.
- 16:18Even if he wasn't caught while he was there, like still in the
- 16:21region. When he goes back and he uploads
- 16:23that footage to his YouTube channel, like what did he think
- 16:25was going to happen? I can't.
- 16:27It's so wild. The Diet Coke is honestly the
- 16:30craziest part of that whole story.
- 16:32And the last story that I have for you guys is Becca Moore has
- 16:35shared her side of the story in her breakup with Shannon
- 16:39Beveridge. So TikTok star Becca Moore has
- 16:41opened up on her podcast about her side of the breakup Story
- 16:44with you Tuber Shannon Beveridge.
- 16:46Becca and Shannon dated for about a year.
- 16:48And when they announced their breakup last year, Becca got
- 16:51dragged online because the reasoning that she gave was that
- 16:55she couldn't see herself having babies with a woman or she
- 16:59wasn't sure yet. And it wasn't fair to Shannon
- 17:02to, like, keep dragging her along.
- 17:03But anyways, now she's kind of come out, like, defending
- 17:06herself after months of backlash.
- 17:08And she explained what it was like dating Shannon and what
- 17:11actually happened, at least from her perspective, in their
- 17:15relationship. So Becca talked about how
- 17:17Shannon had the upper hand in their relationship and there was
- 17:20just this like power dynamic. But Becca never wanted to rock
- 17:24the boat or like push Shannon away.
- 17:26So she would just kind of let a lot slide and like let Shannon
- 17:29kind of lead the way in their relationship.
- 17:32And this was Becca's first. She said it was her first, like
- 17:34serious, like long term relationship because she's only
- 17:3725 and it's also her first relationship with a woman.
- 17:41So she said like, I just felt like I didn't know anything
- 17:44compared to Shannon. So she said early in their
- 17:46relationship, Shannon did something at a bar that broke
- 17:49her trust. And she would have never let
- 17:51that slide if it was a man. But because it was her first
- 17:53relationship with a woman, she wasn't totally sure like what
- 17:57the go was and if there were any kind of like differences and I
- 18:01guess like communities and expectations.
- 18:03And she just kind of saw Shannon's behavior as more
- 18:05nuanced than she normally would see a man's behavior because she
- 18:09was like, well, she's like a woman.
- 18:10Like, I just understand her more.
- 18:12She did clarify, I think I, I didn't get this from her
- 18:15podcast, but I guess some people were concerned that based on how
- 18:18she spoke about this instance, that it was a domestic violence
- 18:22moment. And she clarified like it was
- 18:24not that there was no like physical harm or anything.
- 18:27So it seems like it was probably cheating.
- 18:30Becca said she loved Shannon so much.
- 18:32Like, that was her person, and that was her best friend.
- 18:35But the beginning of the end really came when they went home
- 18:38to, like, Becca's hometown for Thanksgiving.
- 18:40They got into a big fight. And during it, Shannon kept
- 18:43saying, you want to break up with me?
- 18:45I know you do. Shannon would be like telling
- 18:47Becca, like, how she felt. And Becca would be like, oh,
- 18:50wait, like, is this true? Like, is that how I feel?
- 18:52Like, do I want to break up with her?
- 18:53And then she'd be like, wait, does she want to break up with
- 18:55me? Like, is that what she's saying
- 18:57this? So when she saw Shannon with the
- 18:59kids at her family Thanksgiving, it kind of made Becca this was
- 19:03like, right off the back of this fight.
- 19:05It made Becca worried that their timeline for kids would be
- 19:08different because Shannon was six years older.
- 19:10Shannon had already kind of planted these, like, seeds of
- 19:12doubt in her mind the night before.
- 19:14Being like, I know you want to break up with me.
- 19:16So that's when things started to, like, really spiral for
- 19:19Becca. She said she never really got
- 19:21over this fight and then Becca brought it up weeks later and
- 19:25was like, I'm not over this. Like I'm still upset about this.
- 19:27And Shannon said let's just give up.
- 19:29She then said the easiest way to announce that they had broken up
- 19:33was to kind of lean on like the baby excuse and that Shannon's
- 19:37team agreed. So Becca said the episode was
- 19:40passed to Shannon's manager, but not to Becca's.
- 19:43And that Becca did show this episode, I think she said to two
- 19:46friends and they told her not to post it because they figured it
- 19:50would get a lot of backlash. And it did.
- 19:52But obviously she did post it. And after they did, Becca got so
- 19:55much hate and Shannon essentially refused to really
- 19:59address it. She said that her manager said
- 20:00she wasn't allowed to address it.
- 20:01And Becca's like, your manager is not like your boss.
- 20:03Like I can, you know, my manager can tell me not to do something.
- 20:06I. Can still do it.
- 20:08And Shannon said one thing at the end of one podcast episode.
- 20:12I think she said like stop telling Becca she's not gay
- 20:14enough or something instead of being like please stop sending
- 20:17Becca. Hey, whatever Becca wanted her
- 20:18to say. But they actually kept dating or
- 20:20at least like hooking up and kind of dating about a month for
- 20:24about a month after this breakup video.
- 20:27And then this is the craziest part.
- 20:29So they were in a relationship for a year.
- 20:31They did like announce their break up.
- 20:32This is kind of the, this is like the weird thing.
- 20:34But like they did announce their breakup, but then they just like
- 20:37kept hooking up. But like, in theory they were
- 20:40like broken up, I guess, but like kind of not.
- 20:41I don't know. And like Becca makes that clear.
- 20:43She's like, I don't fucking know what was going on.
- 20:45But they were like still kind of together for a month.
- 20:47And then Shannon ghosted her. She said that she didn't reply
- 20:51to her text message for 22 days until Becca was robbed in her
- 20:56home and she messaged Shannon to tell her and then Shannon
- 21:00answered yes. So that was Becca's side of the
- 21:03story. And months ago, I listened to
- 21:06Becky, who was Shannon's girlfriend right before Becca on
- 21:12the By Design podcast. She did like her first ever
- 21:15public interview talking about her relationship with Shannon,
- 21:18getting her side of the story out there.
- 21:20Because as we know, Becky's so hot is a song, a huge hit by
- 21:24Fletcher, who is also Shannon's ex that was written about Becky.
- 21:28And like, she basically did this podcast to talk about like that
- 21:31experience and how horrible it was having this like hit song
- 21:33written about her and, you know, reminding her of her current
- 21:36girlfriend and her ex and all the drama, whatever.
- 21:39And honestly, listening to Becca's podcast, podcast about
- 21:42that relationship she had with Shannon, and then like thinking
- 21:45back to a lot of what Becky said about her relationship with
- 21:48Shannon, like there are quite a few parallels.
- 21:50So I don't know, I don't think Shannon's going to speak out
- 21:53about this. I think she's just going to
- 21:54like, let this ride, let this go.
- 21:58However, I also saw an interesting little piece of
- 22:02information on Reddit. Unconfirmed obviously, but
- 22:06people on Reddit seem to think that Shannon is now dating
- 22:09Teffy. TikTok star, iconic pop culture
- 22:13commentator Teffy. That would be quite the
- 22:15crossover. I've actually interviewed Teffy.
- 22:17She was actually like the nicest person, I think the nicest
- 22:20person I've ever interviewed. I think she was like, I was on
- 22:24zoom with her mom at one point. Like she is exactly what she is,
- 22:29like what she seems like online. Like she was exactly like that.
- 22:32It was actually like really fun, but yes, so that's the team
- 22:37anyways, guys that's it for today.
