- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode? Luna: Totally. It feels like forever since we did greetings. Lucas: Right. Episode one was all about hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches. But today we're going deep on the time-of-day thing. Luna: Ooh, I remember that. But honestly, I still mix up tardes and noches sometimes. Lucas: That's exactly why we're revisiting it. With Fexingo, repetition is your friend. Luna: Yeah. So what's the plan? Lucas: We'll practice the four greetings: hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches. Each one has a time of day. Let's start with the all-rounder: hola. Luna: Hola. Lucas: Great. Hola just means hello, any time. Repeat after me: hola. Luna: Hola. Lucas: Perfect. Now, for morning, we say buenos días. Literally 'good days'. Say it with me: buenos días. Luna: Buenos días. Lucas: Yes. Note the 'B' is soft, like a gentle B. Buenos días. Luna: Buenos días. Lucas: That's it. And it's used from sunrise until around lunch or early afternoon. Luna: Got it. So not after like 2 PM? Lucas: Exactly. After that, we switch to buenas tardes, for the afternoon and early evening. Repeat: buenas tardes. Luna: Buenas tardes. Lucas: Nice. Notice it's buenas with an A, feminine plural, to match tardes, which is feminine. Luna: Buenas tardes. That's feminine. Lucas: You're catching on. And then when it gets dark, we say buenas noches. That means good night, and it's used as both a greeting and a farewell. Luna: Buenas noches. Lucas: Yes. So we have hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches. Luna: Hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's do a tiny role-play. It's morning. I'll be you, and you can be me. I'll say 'Hola, buenos días' and you respond with 'Buenos días, ¿cómo estás?' Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Hola, buenos días. Luna: Buenos días, ¿cómo estás? Lucas: Bien, gracias. Perfect. Now let's flip it. It's afternoon. You greet me. Luna: Oh, okay. Hola, buenas tardes. Lucas: Buenas tardes. ¿Cómo estás? Luna: Muy bien, gracias. That felt natural. Lucas: See? Now let's do a night one. It's late, say 10 PM. Luna: Hola, buenas noches. Lucas: Buenas noches. ¿Cómo estás? Luna: Bien, gracias. Buenas noches. Lucas: Okay, let's quickly quiz. I'll say a time of day, you pick the greeting. Morning. Luna: Buenos días. Lucas: Afternoon. Luna: Buenas tardes. Lucas: Night. Luna: Buenas noches. Lucas: Any time. Luna: Hola. Lucas: Nailed it. You've got time-of-day greetings down. Luna: Thanks. It helps to think about the actual time. Lucas: Exactly. So remember: hola is your all-purpose, buenos días for morning, buenas tardes for afternoon, buenas noches for night. Luna: Hola, buenos días, buenas tardes, buenas noches. Lucas: Perfect. And that's a wrap for today. Thanks for joining us on Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Practice these greetings throughout your day. Say buenos días when you wake up, buenas tardes after lunch, buenas noches before bed. Hola anytime. Luna: And we'll see you next time for more Spanish fun. Hasta luego! Lucas: Hasta luego. Keep practicing with Fexingo!
