- 5:21Speaker 4: So dear Heavenly Father and the precious name of your
- 5:25Speaker 4: son Jesus, we thank you for this platform. We thank
- 5:29Speaker 4: you for Queen Angela and her visions. God, we thank
- 5:33Speaker 4: you for waking us up this morning with the use
- 5:36Speaker 4: of our lambs. God. Ah. We thank you, God. We
- 5:40Speaker 4: give you praise, and we give you honor. Now we
- 5:43Speaker 4: commend this show into your hands. Have your way God,
- 5:48Speaker 4: in the name of Jesus, and that those let it
- 5:52Speaker 4: fall into the hands of those that need to hear it.
- 5:56Speaker 4: In Jesus' name, we do pray a man in a
- 6:00Speaker 4: man Maya Angelo is our quotas for this week. You
- 6:09Speaker 4: should be angry. Excuse me, you must not be built.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Use that anger. You write it, you pance it, you
- 6:23Speaker 4: paint it, you dance it. Maya Angelo. Once again, Welcome
- 6:29Speaker 4: to today's podcast. We are continuing our series on understanding
- 6:35Speaker 4: grief and loss. In this episode, we will focus on
- 6:41Speaker 4: the second stage of grief anger. The five stages of
- 6:47Speaker 4: grief introduced by Elizabeth Koobler Ross are denial, anger, bargaining, depression,
- 6:56Speaker 4: and acceptance. While everyone experienced is grief differently, these stages
- 7:02Speaker 4: provide a helpful framework for understanding what many people experience
- 7:09Speaker 4: after a significant loss. Remember that a loss is just
- 7:17Speaker 4: not losing a loved one, but it's the loss of
- 7:20Speaker 4: a relationship or job, a part of your body. All
- 7:24Speaker 4: these things we go through we experience grief. Anger is
- 7:31Speaker 4: often misunderstood. Many people feel a shame of their anger
- 7:37Speaker 4: doing grief, believing that it is wrong or unspiritual. However,
- 7:42Speaker 4: anger is a natural response to pain. It's often their
- 7:47Speaker 4: emotional expression of deep disappointment, fear, and helplessness. I recall
- 7:56Speaker 4: that when my son passed away, that I was angry
- 8:01Speaker 4: when people would tell me that their older grandmother or
- 8:06Speaker 4: grandfather had a heart attack and survived, And I would
- 8:12Speaker 4: be angry thinking they lived their life and they survived,
- 8:17Speaker 4: and my son was just starting his life and he
- 8:21Speaker 4: didn't survive. So at times I would be angry, But
- 8:26Speaker 4: I would also think that these thoughts are and right,
- 8:30Speaker 4: They're not Christian, like, maybe I'm not saved enough? Why
- 8:34Speaker 4: am I going through being angry? And I know that
- 8:39Speaker 4: God doesn't make any mistakes. That we may not understand
- 8:44Speaker 4: his plan and his purpose, but he doesn't make any mistakes.
- 8:48Speaker 4: But today we are going to discuss what anger looks
- 8:53Speaker 4: like doing grief. Why does anger develop, signs that you
- 8:58Speaker 4: might be stuck, and the angry stage, the consequences of
- 9:05Speaker 4: unresolved anger, and practical tools that you can use during
- 9:11Speaker 4: your healing process. What is the anger stage? After the
- 9:17Speaker 4: numbness of denial begins to faith, reality starts to set in,
- 9:25Speaker 4: the lord becomes undeniable. Questions begin to surface, why did
- 9:32Speaker 4: this happen? Why now? Why? Me, why didn't someone prevent this?
- 9:41Speaker 4: Anger is offered an attempt to regain control. When life
- 9:45Speaker 4: fills unfair and chaotic, people may become angry at God.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Many ask why did God allow this? Even faithful believers
- 9:59Speaker 4: can strug with these questions. In scripture we see examples
- 10:04Speaker 4: of people honesty, especially in anger and confusion to God.
- 10:10Speaker 4: The psalms are filled with raw emotions. Other people we
- 10:16Speaker 4: might blame is the doctors. I know, I blamed the
- 10:20Speaker 4: hospital for years. I couldn't go back to that hospital
- 10:24Speaker 4: because he died there, and somehow it must have been therefore,
- 10:32Speaker 4: that's what I believe when I was going through my
- 10:36Speaker 4: anger stage. You're mad at family members friends. I was
- 10:42Speaker 4: mad at my friends because we hang around in a
- 10:45Speaker 4: circle that all our friends and our children was the
- 10:49Speaker 4: same age. So when their children was making milestones and
- 10:56Speaker 4: I was doing the angry stage, I couldn't go because
- 11:00Speaker 4: I was like, now I I don't belong in this
- 11:02Speaker 4: circle anymore because I don't have a child. We be
- 11:07Speaker 4: mad at church leaders, employers, even the person who die.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Sometimes the blame is just a vibe. Often is simply
- 11:17Speaker 4: grief searching for somewhere to land self derected anger is
- 11:24Speaker 4: very common. People replay events repeatedly. I should have done more,
- 11:30Speaker 4: I should have been there, if only I had called.
- 11:35Speaker 4: This can become a painful cycle of guilt and self condemnation.
- 11:41Speaker 4: What does anger look like? Not everyone express his anger
- 11:45Speaker 4: in the same way. Some people become explosive, others become silent.
- 11:53Speaker 4: Common symptoms include ret be an irate, be an irritable,
- 12:01Speaker 4: small inconvenience trigger major reactions, frustration, Our patients become difficult, bitterness,
- 12:13Speaker 4: resentment develops towards others who seem happy or unaffected, Isolation,
- 12:22Speaker 4: people with jaw because they don't want others to see
- 12:25Speaker 4: their anger. Physical symptoms. Anger often affects the body by headaches,
- 12:33Speaker 4: high blood pressure, muscle tension, fatigue, and difficult sleeping. The
- 12:41Speaker 4: body often carries emotional pain when it has not been processed.
- 12:49Speaker 4: What happens when you get stuck in anger? Grief is
- 12:54Speaker 4: meant to move, even if solely we cannot allow our
- 13:00Speaker 4: so to stay in one particular stage of grief toolng.
- 13:07Speaker 4: When anger becomes a permanent resident instead of a temporary stage,
- 13:12Speaker 4: several problems can develop. Our relationships can suffer. Friends and
- 13:19Speaker 4: family may begin to pull away people and often misunderstand
- 13:25Speaker 4: grief driven anger. The grieving person may feel abandoned, creating
- 13:33Speaker 4: even more anger. And we've seen a lot of relationships
- 13:38Speaker 4: after the death of a loved one, especially a child.
- 13:43Speaker 4: We've seen relationships that didn't weather the storm because they
- 13:49Speaker 4: were both angry and sometimes at each other, and their
- 13:54Speaker 4: relationship just couldn't stand the grief. Spiritual growth becomes stoiled.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Stilled anger towards God can create distance and prayer and worship.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Have you ever prayed and you feel like God is
- 14:13Speaker 4: not listening to your prayers because you are angry and
- 14:19Speaker 4: you don't know where your anger is coming from, and
- 14:23Speaker 4: you feel like God is not even hearing you. Instead
- 14:27Speaker 4: of bringing questions to God, people may stop talking to
- 14:32Speaker 4: him all together. Bitterness takes root. The Bible warns against
- 14:38Speaker 4: bitterness because it affects every area of life. Bitterness turns
- 14:43Speaker 4: temporary pain into a long term prison emotional exhaustion. Anger
- 14:52Speaker 4: requires enormous emotional energy. People become drained and overwhelmed, difficult
- 15:01Speaker 4: moving forward. Being stuck in anger often prevents individuals from
- 15:07Speaker 4: embracing new opportunities, relationship, and purpose. The loss continues to
- 15:15Speaker 4: define every accent of your life. The Bible does not
- 15:21Speaker 4: teach that anger itself is sinful. Ephesians four and sixteen
- 15:28Speaker 4: says be angry and do not sin. This means that
- 15:33Speaker 4: anger is a legitimate emotion. The danger comes when anger
- 15:39Speaker 4: controls us, rather than informing us. Consider these biblical examples.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Job Job experienced devastating laws. He questioned God, he expressed frustration,
- 15:54Speaker 4: yet he continued bringing his pain to God. And he
- 16:01Speaker 4: was able, through all that loss and all that grief
- 16:05Speaker 4: to pray for others. And when he prayed for others,
- 16:11Speaker 4: that's when his relief came. That's when his resurrection came.
- 16:17Speaker 4: That's when God gave him double for all his troubles David.
- 16:22Speaker 4: Many psalms revealed David's anger, confusion, and grief. Instead of
- 16:29Speaker 4: hiding his emotion, he prayed through them. Jesus himself expressed
- 16:36Speaker 4: righteous anger. This reminds us that anger is not weakness.
- 16:42Speaker 4: The key is learning how to process it in healthy ways.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Tools for moving through anger one name the anger. Ask
- 16:55Speaker 4: yourself what am I really anger about? Often anger is
- 17:03Speaker 4: covering sadness, fear, or disappointment. And when I asked myself,
- 17:09Speaker 4: I said, what am I angry? About what is actually
- 17:14Speaker 4: making me angry, And the answer was simple, I missed
- 17:20Speaker 4: my son that I was angry because his place at
- 17:26Speaker 4: the table, his president in his room was missing, and
- 17:31Speaker 4: I was angry about that. Journal honestly right, without censoring yourself.
- 17:39Speaker 4: God already knows your heart. Honesty the beginning of healing
- 17:46Speaker 4: when we say what we are really angry about, when
- 17:50Speaker 4: we're honest, even if it's like, God, why did you
- 17:54Speaker 4: take my baby? Whatever that feeling is, be honest about it.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Because if you're not honest about what you want to heal,
- 18:05Speaker 4: you just put a band aid on the wound and
- 18:09Speaker 4: it's going to continue to fester on the inside. Talk
- 18:17Speaker 4: with safe people, choose trusted friends, pastors, counselors, or support groups.
- 18:27Speaker 4: Healing often happens in community for practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is
- 18:36Speaker 4: not saying the loss was acceptable. It is releasing the
- 18:41Speaker 4: burden of carrying resentment. Pray your anger, Bring your emotions
- 18:48Speaker 4: directly to God. Authentic prayer curates room for healing. So
- 18:57Speaker 4: when you're going through a loss, you find yourself in
- 19:05Speaker 4: that second stage of anger. One exercise that you can
- 19:13Speaker 4: do is find a quiet place, sit comfortably, take a
- 19:20Speaker 4: slow mindful breath. Now ask yourself the following questions, pausing
- 19:32Speaker 4: after each one. Question one, what loss am I grieving today?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Name it specifically. I am grieving the loss of my job.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Question two, Who or what am I angry with? Be
- 20:00Speaker 4: completely honest, No one has to hear this answer. I
- 20:09Speaker 4: am angry with my supervisor because it wasn't right what
- 20:19Speaker 4: she wrote or my report to cause me to lose
- 20:23Speaker 4: my job. Question three? What expectations were shattered by this loss?
- 20:31Speaker 4: What did you hope would happened instead? I worked at
- 20:36Speaker 4: this job for a number of years. I was hoping
- 20:42Speaker 4: that instead of being terminated, I would resign from this job.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Question four? What emotions are underneath my anger? Is this sadness, fear, loneliness,
- 20:59Speaker 4: disappointment or regret. I regret that I stayed at this
- 21:06Speaker 4: job too long because I had a fear of getting
- 21:13Speaker 4: another position. Question five? What is one burden that I
- 21:20Speaker 4: need to release today? Take a moment and identify it.
- 21:26Speaker 4: I need to relise depending on a job because God
- 21:34Speaker 4: is in control and no matter what, He's gonna take
- 21:38Speaker 4: care of me. When one door closes, another will open,
- 21:42Speaker 4: it will open out. Say I acknowledge my anger, I
- 21:48Speaker 4: acknowledge my pain, I choose to begin releasing what I
- 21:53Speaker 4: cannot control. Take another slow breath. If you are a
- 22:02Speaker 4: person of faith, pray, Lord, you see my hurt, you
- 22:08Speaker 4: see my anger. Help me bring my pain to you
- 22:13Speaker 4: rather than carrying it alone. Give me the courage to
- 22:18Speaker 4: heal and the strength to move forward. Anger is not
- 22:24Speaker 4: a sign that you are failing. It is often evidence
- 22:28Speaker 4: that something deeply important has been lost. The goal is
- 22:33Speaker 4: not to suppress anger. The goal is to understand it,
- 22:37Speaker 4: process it, and allow it to lead you towards feeling
- 22:43Speaker 4: rather than bitterness. Remember, anger is a normal part of grief.
- 22:50Speaker 4: You do not have to stay there. Your current situation
- 22:56Speaker 4: is not your final destination. Healing is impossible, growth is possible,
- 23:04Speaker 4: Hope is possible. Dear Heavenly Father in the precious name
- 23:12Speaker 4: of Jesus, is that anyone who's listening to me on
- 23:16Speaker 4: tonight and they do not know you in the part
- 23:18Speaker 4: and their sins and they want to get to know
- 23:21Speaker 4: you God, Ah, they can just repeat this. I am
- 23:25Speaker 4: a sinner and I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ,
- 23:31Speaker 4: and that he died on the cross for us so
- 23:34Speaker 4: that we might have eternal life. God, I want to
- 23:38Speaker 4: get to know you in my healing process. I want
- 23:42Speaker 4: to allow you to heal me. I want to get
- 23:44Speaker 4: to know you. God accept me into your family. And now,
- 23:49Speaker 4: if you've said this, find yourself a Bible, believe in church,
- 23:55Speaker 4: and grow in the knowledge of God so that you
- 23:58Speaker 4: can see all the promises that He has for you
- 24:03Speaker 4: manifested in your life. And if you already know God,
- 24:07Speaker 4: when you are going through any situation, in any circumstance,
- 24:12Speaker 4: he said, He'll never leave you nor forsake you. So
- 24:15Speaker 4: even when you've had a significant loss and you're angry
- 24:19Speaker 4: and you're feeling like, why did this happen to me?
- 24:23Speaker 4: God is still there even though you might not feeling
- 24:27Speaker 4: He is there when we don't know that he's working.
- 24:31Speaker 4: He's working it out and our behave Lord, remember the
- 24:37Speaker 4: visionary of this movement. God, touch her body from her
- 24:43Speaker 4: head down to her toe, anything that's not right, and
- 24:48Speaker 4: her body regulated. God, you made her and you know
- 24:51Speaker 4: all about her. God healing, restore her back to every
- 24:56Speaker 4: bit of health. For the others and the crew podcast, God,
- 25:01Speaker 4: you know the things they have need of God, give
- 25:04Speaker 4: them the desires their heart. God, in Jesus' name, we
- 25:07Speaker 4: do pray a man and a man and a man.
- 25:13Speaker 4: We thank God on tonight for this podcast. We thank
- 25:18Speaker 4: God for the visionary and I thank God for you.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Thank you for joining us for this episode on the
- 25:26Speaker 4: second Stage of grief, and our next episode we explore
- 25:31Speaker 4: the third stage of grief, bargaining and examine the if
- 25:37Speaker 4: only thoughts that often emerge after loss. Until next time,
- 25:44Speaker 4: take care of yourself, have a wonderful, wonderful Fourth of
- 25:49Speaker 4: July if you celebrate it, and once again, if you
- 25:55Speaker 4: don't remember anything that I said or tonight, give yourself
- 25:59Speaker 4: permission in the hill. Good night, and I will see
- 26:02Speaker 4: you on the third Wednesday in July. God bless.
