- 0:25Now let's open our Bibles and study God's Word.
- 0:30Good morning. Are you the rowdy crowd?
- 0:35Oh, yeah. See you.
- 0:36A little more committed than the other two services When I asked
- 0:39the other services, are you the rowdy crowd?
- 0:40They're like, yeah, I guess so. OK, all right.
- 0:44You're the rowdy crowd. OK, listen, I love to interact
- 0:47with people when I teach. Lets me know that they're with
- 0:49me in the room. So that's OK.
- 0:51We going to get a little rowdy this morning?
- 0:53Is that OK to get a little rowdy?
- 0:54OK, listen, I'm going to ask you guys, There you go.
- 0:57That that there's my people. All right now.
- 0:59Hey, so please open your Bibles to a fileyman, if you would.
- 1:05We're going to go ahead and look at that together this morning.
- 1:09But as you're turning there, I want to share a little bit about
- 1:13myself. I probably won't be using the
- 1:15pulpit too much because I'm short.
- 1:17That's the first thing I need to tell you.
- 1:19And this thing is. If I had a box or something like
- 1:23a phone book or something I could stand on to be all right.
- 1:25But I let just about my life I was Ray.
- 1:28I didn't get raised in a Christian home.
- 1:30I didn't come to faith till I was 20 years old.
- 1:33I have a darkness to light testimony.
- 1:35I was in the darkness and I had seen a great light, and God drew
- 1:38me into his love through that light.
- 1:40And so that was my testimony. I was in college when that
- 1:44happened, and I went to college for music education.
- 1:47So I'm a music teacher by my undergraduate education, my
- 1:51postgraduates, obviously Jesus stuff.
- 1:53But what you have to understand about my undergrad is I'm still
- 1:57an artist. I'm still a creative person.
- 2:00I'm one of those people that are always.
- 2:02I'm always creating, I'm always doing stuff like that.
- 2:05And so I appreciate artists, I appreciate art, I appreciate all
- 2:09that. It's part of my personality.
- 2:11And the day I got saved, I met a beautiful young woman named Lori
- 2:15who is now been my wife for over 30 years.
- 2:19We have four children. We have an oldest daughter who's
- 2:22adopted and three boys. We have a brand new grandbaby
- 2:27named Ivy who I hope is watching right now.
- 2:29So Granddad says hi. And then also, of course I have
- 2:33a son in love who is Chris, who married our daughter.
- 2:37And we're so blessed with our family.
- 2:39My wife is also a musician. She's been a professional
- 2:42harpist most of her life. And so as I was an orchestral
- 2:47percussionist, I played marimba and vibraphone and all that
- 2:49stuff. My wife is a harpist and she
- 2:52just retired from 30 years as the principal harpist for the
- 2:56Idaho State Civic Symphony and and also she's a teacher and so
- 3:01my wife teaches gifted and talented students.
- 3:04So she takes kids that have a that they're they're testing
- 3:07really high and she help and pushes them farther.
- 3:12I've gone into her math classes, and I don't like math, and I've
- 3:16gone into her math classes and it looks like the IT looks like
- 3:20numbers, you know, that remember the show numbers, you know, and
- 3:23to like 4th graders doing all this stuff on the board.
- 3:25And I'm like, who are these children?
- 3:28And so my wife is really smart, really gifted.
- 3:31I don't know why she married me. God's grace, I suppose.
- 3:34Because I'm married up and I'm thankful for that.
- 3:36I've been in ministry for over 35 years and I'm a transitional
- 3:41pastor. I've actually been in several
- 3:42different churches and have been the lead pastor at three
- 3:46different churches. One was an interim, the other
- 3:48was a senior pastor in a small town of about 3000 people for
- 3:52almost a decade Then I've been in Idaho Falls now for six years
- 3:55and I love our church family and I love building gospel culture.
- 3:59And so I'm going to talk a little bit about that today as I
- 4:01talk about love with you guys now.
- 4:04You guys understand that Love's kind of the whole point, right?
- 4:08Yeah. Because you understand that for
- 4:09God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that
- 4:15whoever would believe in him would not perish but have
- 4:18everlasting life. So who's a whosoever?
- 4:21Who's a whosoever? Right, because you're whosoever,
- 4:23right because if you believe in Jesus you can have eternal life.
- 4:26Whosoever wants to believe in Jesus.
- 4:29Now one one of the things we see about John 316 is that there was
- 4:33love that led to an action. So let look at it like this if
- 4:37your note taker you want to write it down.
- 4:38If love is a fact, it leads to an act.
- 4:41If love is a fact, it leads to an act.
- 4:44So you can't just say you love people?
- 4:48Yeah, yeah. As a church, we can't just say
- 4:50we love people. We actually have to love people,
- 4:54and people are not lovable. Isn't it real though?
- 4:59OK, let me ask you a question about this whole keeping our
- 5:01word thing, OK? Because if there's truth, right?
- 5:04So my dad used to say to me, he says, listen, if you say you're
- 5:11going to take the trash out and you don't take the trash out,
- 5:15then your word is trash. And some of you are like, I was
- 5:20raised by a Marine. That's the way it rolled my
- 5:23house, right? So it's like, no messing around
- 5:26with my dad. That was it.
- 5:27You know what? If you said you going to do it,
- 5:29you do it. How many of you?
- 5:31This is OK? How many guys understand there's
- 5:33like, coffee and Donuts downstairs?
- 5:35It'll be OK. When we're done, a cup of coffee
- 5:39and a donut will heal most wounds.
- 5:40OK. So please understand I'm about
- 5:43to say something to y'all. It's going to get uncomfortable.
- 5:46You OK with that? How many of you have ever said
- 5:50you was going to pray for somebody and didn't pray for
- 5:53him? Show your hands.
- 5:55OK. Those of you who didn't raise
- 5:57your hand, bunch of liars anyway.
- 5:58But that's that's all right. But here's, here's the, here's
- 6:01the real right. The reality is we say, oh, I'm
- 6:04going to pray for you then we don't pray for people.
- 6:06So let me help you with some. I got a way to connect those
- 6:08dots. When somebody says, would you
- 6:10pray for me, say yes and then pray for them.
- 6:14When? Right then.
- 6:17Yes. Then you don't have to go away.
- 6:19Is him who that says going to pray for.
- 6:22Then you're doing one of these on your knees at night.
- 6:24You're like, Lord, I just want to pray for everybody I said I
- 6:26was going to pray for. So there it is.
- 6:28You know, it's like you're just trying to cover your base with
- 6:30God. Like, he knows he's looking at
- 6:32you going really right, dude, take a notepad, write it down.
- 6:37Right. So.
- 6:38But that's a reality, right? If we're going to love people,
- 6:40we actually have to love people. We actually have to connect with
- 6:43them in a way that they recognize the love of God
- 6:47through us. Listen very carefully that they
- 6:49recognize the love of God through us as God's people.
- 6:55And so I want to look at Fileyman because, you know, Paul
- 6:58says, man, I'm talking to you for Love's sake, because of love
- 7:02is the reason I'm asking you to restore a man who stole from
- 7:08you, who hurt you. I want you to restore him as a
- 7:14person of faith because he's come to faith.
- 7:18So that's kind of the, the premise of everything we're
- 7:20going to look at. But let's go ahead and talk
- 7:22about this for a second. First of all, he says this and
- 7:25he starts with us. Paul.
- 7:26Everybody knows who Paul is, right?
- 7:28Paul was a mess. Paul was a guy.
- 7:31He was known as Saul. He held the coats while Stephen
- 7:35was stoned. He was so mad at the way.
- 7:39He was those who followed Jesus. He was so mad at them he got
- 7:42paperwork to go and imprison them or take their lives.
- 7:47If they continue to follow Jesus, how many?
- 7:50You think he was a problem child?
- 7:53He's a problem child for the Kingdom of God, and yet he's on
- 7:56the road in all of his fury. Paul's in all of his fury.
- 8:00And God shows up. How many of you had that
- 8:04encounter? You were going through life and
- 8:06all your stuff, all your fury, all your stuff.
- 8:08And then God shows up and you had a problem because you had an
- 8:11encounter with God. Who had the encounter with God?
- 8:15Oh, I had an encounter with God. It was it was 1:00 in the
- 8:19afternoon. I was talking to a guy named
- 8:21John Mitchell. I thought he was a recruiter for
- 8:23the Navy. Come to find out, he's the
- 8:26Campus Crusade for Christ director on campus.
- 8:30He starts asking me questions. I'm like, get to your point.
- 8:33He goes, You going to hell? And and then he looks at me.
- 8:38I thought, I'm dumbfounded. I have no idea what to say.
- 8:40And he looks at me and goes, So what you going to do about it?
- 8:43I said, I don't know. You have all the answers right.
- 8:45But see, people have been sharing faith with me and I had
- 8:49an encounter with Jesus at that moment and my whole world got
- 8:53undone. Church, I'm going to tell you
- 8:56something right now. If you have an encounter with
- 8:58Jesus today, your whole world's going to get undone.
- 9:01And it's the good kind of undone.
- 9:05Because he loves you. Now I understand, he says Paul,
- 9:07a prisoner of Jesus Christ. Now there's something about this
- 9:10world. This world wants to trap us.
- 9:12Did you guys know the world wants to trap us?
- 9:14The things of this world wanted the love of the world, less of
- 9:17the flesh, pride of life, right? All those things that John talks
- 9:19about in first John, chapter 2, verses 15 through 17, right?
- 9:23All those things. The world wants to trap us.
- 9:25Listen, if anything's going to have my life, it's going to be
- 9:28Jesus. And I hope you can say the same
- 9:30thing. Listen, I'm if I'm going to be
- 9:32trapped by anything, it's the love of God that constrains me.
- 9:36It's going to be my life with Jesus, and I love it.
- 9:38He says I'm a prisoner, but I'm not a prisoner of the world.
- 9:41I'm a prisoner of Jesus Christ. You can lock me up, but I still
- 9:43belong to Jesus. I don't care what's going on in
- 9:46your life. You belong to Jesus, and he
- 9:49loves you deeply. Now he says.
- 9:51He says, I'm a prisoner of Lord Jesus Christ.
- 9:53He says, and Timothy our brother.
- 9:55Now there's something interesting about this idea of
- 9:57Timothy, our brother. Because Paul was not only
- 10:00saying, look, I belong to Jesus, I don't care what my
- 10:03circumstance is in life, but I also belong to a family of
- 10:07people and I do ministry with other people.
- 10:10There is no lone wolf being a Christian.
- 10:13It doesn't work that way. You can't just be on your own.
- 10:17You're part of the body of Christ.
- 10:19We invest in one another. That's the love that we show
- 10:22towards one another. We'll talk a little bit more
- 10:25about that in just a minute. But he goes on and he continues
- 10:28on. He says to find Lehman.
- 10:30That's the focus of this letter. Now there are three words we use
- 10:34in Bible study back home. We talk about this all the time.
- 10:37Now I'm going to share those 3 words with you.
- 10:39These are important three words. I want you to write them down If
- 10:41you're a note taker. If you're a note taker, you want
- 10:43to write these three words down. Put 123.
- 10:45It's really important. Pay attention.
- 10:47Write them down. I'll go slow.
- 10:49All right, Are you ready? Number one is context. #2 is
- 10:55context. #3 is context. Do you guys realize that you are
- 11:04reading a private letter? Yes, it was written to others.
- 11:07It was written to the church that was in the house.
- 11:09But it's a small group of people.
- 11:11But like Timothy and Titus, they're letters from one man to
- 11:16another man. And Sophie Lehman is that.
- 11:20It's it's it's a letter from Paul to this man and also those
- 11:26who are in his household and those that are there and the the
- 11:29church that's in the house where he's serving.
- 11:31And so he goes on. He says to Fei Lehman.
- 11:34He says. Our beloved and fellow laborer.
- 11:39If you and I are going to say that we serve God, we should
- 11:42probably do what? Serve God.
- 11:44And if we love God, we're going to serve him.
- 11:47Are we those that are loved? Do we know that we're loved?
- 11:50Do you actually know that you're loved?
- 11:52Maybe today you don't know. Maybe you've been in church for
- 11:55a while. Maybe this is your first time in
- 11:56church. But maybe you just don't.
- 11:59Do you? Do you know that God loves you?
- 12:01God loves you so deeply and and the people around you love you
- 12:06as well. See, you are beloved and I want
- 12:09you to know that, but I love what he says.
- 12:11He says you are our beloved and you are our fellow laborer.
- 12:14In Christ you're serving the Lord with us and we're so
- 12:17blessed by that. And then he goes on and he says,
- 12:20he says to the beloved apthea and archipist, our fellow
- 12:24soldier. Ma'am, I'll tell you right now,
- 12:27man. Paul says this.
- 12:29He goes, man, look, if I belong to anybody, I belong to Jesus.
- 12:32I do ministry with a group of people.
- 12:34But Timothy's part of this. Finally, man, you're part of
- 12:37this. You're a fellow laborer.
- 12:38We're doing this thing together. And then he talks his to this.
- 12:42He says to the Archer. But he says, man, you're my
- 12:44fellow soldier. Man, you have stepped up when it
- 12:47was hard. Is following Jesus easy?
- 12:50No, we got to step up when it's hard.
- 12:53And so you and I are going to step up.
- 12:54We're not only going to be fellow laborers, but we're going
- 12:57to be fellow soldiers. We're going to link arms.
- 12:59We're going to lock Shields, and we're going to say no more.
- 13:02We're going to tell the world about the love of Jesus.
- 13:05That's the fight that you and I fight.
- 13:07That's the fight that we face, because the world needs to know
- 13:12about the love of God. Now he goes on in verse 3 and he
- 13:16says to them right before he says now to the church that's in
- 13:18your house. So these two, by the way, they
- 13:20were hosting the church in their home, which is very common in
- 13:25the ancient Near East world in that 1st century.
- 13:28And so now it goes on, it says grace to you in peace from God
- 13:31our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 13:33Now I'm going to be honest with you as a pastor, Every time I
- 13:36read a Paul epistle, right? A Pauline epistle, Man I.
- 13:40I I have to go through this grace and peace thing, but I
- 13:42will say it anyway because some of you may never heard it.
- 13:44Did you know that you will never know God's peace until you
- 13:46experience his grace? You guys know that you have to
- 13:50experience the grace of God before you can experience the
- 13:53peace of God. So what is the grace of God?
- 13:57The grace of God is God's unmerited, undeserved favor upon
- 14:00you. It's the gift of God.
- 14:03It's the gift of eternal life. But we have a culture that's a
- 14:06gospel culture. So the gospel can be defined and
- 14:09but there's lots of ways to define the gospel.
- 14:11But think about it like this. The gospel being God's grace for
- 14:14the undeserving mad. The God God's grace for the
- 14:17undeserving. You're undeserving and God has
- 14:18given you grace. But a gospel cultures and we
- 14:21share that grace with one another.
- 14:22What does that mean? That means if we're in a House
- 14:24of love, you can be real about who you are, and you're going to
- 14:27receive grace from the people around you because they've
- 14:30received grace from God. Now this is how we say this back
- 14:33home. This is how we talk about this
- 14:34back at Water Springs. We say it like this.
- 14:36We say as a church, we're going to love up.
- 14:39We're going to love in. We're going to love out.
- 14:41We're going to love. Now what does that mean?
- 14:43Love and up. That makes sense, right?
- 14:45We're going to love God. We're going to love him with
- 14:48everything we've got. So we're going to love God fully
- 14:51and completely. #2 we're going to love in.
- 14:54That means we're going to love the community of the body of
- 14:56Christ fully and completely. We're going to build one another
- 15:00up in the most holy faith. We're going to stir one another
- 15:02up to love into good works. We're going to build the body of
- 15:05Christ. And out of a Jesus community
- 15:07comes the mission. So we love out.
- 15:10That means we take that love that God has given us.
- 15:13We're going to take that love. We're going to take it out the
- 15:15doors. We'll take that into the world
- 15:17now. We're going to love now.
- 15:18What does love now mean? Love now means grace needs to be
- 15:22given and experienced by people in real time.
- 15:28Okay. Let me let me talk to you about
- 15:29experiencing grace in real time. Okay.
- 15:32So if I say that finish the sentence.
- 15:35David was a man after. See, that's how we know, David.
- 15:41But let's be real for a minute. Let's talk about King David.
- 15:46King David decided at one point. I'm not going to go to war with
- 15:51the rest of the boys like I should.
- 15:53I'm going to stay home. Maybe he's feeling like he's
- 15:57getting a little older. I can relate to that.
- 16:01Getting a little older. He's going to stay home and he's
- 16:03on the the top of the palace. He's looking down and there's a
- 16:07a young guy taking a bath. That's why we call her
- 16:12Bathsheba. No, I'm kidding.
- 16:13But. But no.
- 16:14But no. She she she taking a bath,
- 16:16right? And he looks at her and he
- 16:18doesn't go. Oh, Lord.
- 16:19I shouldn't look. That's not my I should.
- 16:21I should look away. He doesn't do that.
- 16:23He does one of these. Then he invites her over, has an
- 16:30affair with her, gets her pregnant.
- 16:34By the way, how long has her husband been gone?
- 16:35He's been at war. It's been a while.
- 16:38Gals, you know that you that doesn't happen overnight
- 16:41sometimes. Got to pass before you know
- 16:42you're pregnant. So something's been going on for
- 16:45a while. So he invites Uriah home to
- 16:50sleep with his wife to cover up his sin.
- 16:53Uriah is such a man of integrity he won't do it.
- 16:55He he tries to get him drunk and he won't do it.
- 16:58So then he writes a letter to the leader of the army to send
- 17:03Uriah out front to get him killed, and Uriah took it with
- 17:07his own hands because he was such a man of integrity.
- 17:09What a great contrast between the man that we know is the man
- 17:13after what? God's own heart.
- 17:15So let's be real. Why can't we say that David was
- 17:17a man after God's own heart? Grace.
- 17:21The reason we say David was a man after God's own heart is
- 17:24because we see grace poured out upon him.
- 17:28But we have a tendency to read the Bible into the past, and we
- 17:31don't. And we don't realize, oh, that
- 17:32we oh, grace is something about the past.
- 17:35Did you know right now you could come to Jesus with all your mess
- 17:37right now? And you're going to experience
- 17:40grace. You'll experience it for me.
- 17:41I'm going to tell you that right now.
- 17:43Do you know why? Because I'm messed up.
- 17:45I am messed up. My life is messed up.
- 17:47My future is bright. You can get in on it because God
- 17:51loves you, too. But you have to know something.
- 17:54If you come and you express your brokenness, your sin to me, I'm
- 17:58going to share with you the grace that I have been afforded.
- 18:00That's what makes us a gospel community as the Church.
- 18:04As we love one another, as we should, as we love up, love in,
- 18:06love out, and we love now we show grace and love in real
- 18:09time. Well, this is what's been going
- 18:11on. Check this out.
- 18:12He goes on and he says this. Paul goes, man, I thank God for
- 18:17you. He says I thank God and I make
- 18:19mention of you always in my prayers.
- 18:22By the way, are you glad when people pray for you right now?
- 18:26How do you want people to pray for you?
- 18:27Do you want people to pray blessing on you?
- 18:29Absolutely. Or do you want to pray that that
- 18:31people are praying like God get them?
- 18:34Right. But here's the thing.
- 18:36Are people thankful for you when you come in a room?
- 18:39Are they thankful when you leave the room?
- 18:42Is that. Was that too, uncle?
- 18:43Was that too real? I'm sorry, do you?
- 18:46Wait a minute. But that is real, right?
- 18:50Are people thankful for you? If they're thankful for you,
- 18:52it's probably because love is flowing from you, Grace is
- 18:54flowing from you. They want to be with you because
- 18:57you bring light and hope into the space that you're in.
- 19:00And so this is what's going on. Finally miss this guy.
- 19:03Paul's like, man, I thank God for you and I am praying for
- 19:07you. And he goes on and he says he
- 19:10explains why. Bible students, I I really want
- 19:12you to see this. Bible students.
- 19:15You need to understand what I'm about to share with you because
- 19:17this ties into the Gospels. When Jesus has asked what are
- 19:21the greatest commandments, listen to this.
- 19:24He says this. He said, Man, I'm thanking God
- 19:26for you. I'm making mention of you always
- 19:28in my prayers. Hearing of your love, OK, what
- 19:35to hear enough his love and faith, which you have towards
- 19:40the Lord Jesus. He loved God, he says, Man, I'm
- 19:45thankful for you and I'm praying for you because I've heard of
- 19:49your love for God. That's what I've heard.
- 19:53I've heard about your love and your faith towards God.
- 19:56And then he goes on and says Anne.
- 19:59All the Saints. So let's learn something about
- 20:03Feynman. Check this out.
- 20:05So he's loving God. He's loving others.
- 20:10So church say love. God say love.
- 20:13Others say repeat. That's that's how we do it.
- 20:18We love God. We love others.
- 20:20We repeat, Let's say it again. Love God.
- 20:23Love others. Repeat.
- 20:25That's what we're supposed to do.
- 20:27But how many of you guys have discovered it's not easy to love
- 20:29people? Do you know why it's hard to
- 20:31love people? Because people messed up.
- 20:37People are messed up sometimes. People are unlovable.
- 20:41We supposed to love them anyway. Why?
- 20:42That's what we're commanded to do.
- 20:44So here's a guy that's loving God.
- 20:46He's loving others, but he loves the loss.
- 20:48Listen to this. I am praying and this is what
- 20:52I'm praying for. He goes on to say this, that the
- 20:55sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgement
- 21:00of every good thing which is in you, in Christ Jesus.
- 21:05So all the good stuff that's in you 5 Lehman is from Jesus.
- 21:09And I pray that that good stuff that's in you from Jesus, you're
- 21:12going to continue to tell people about, you know, we call that,
- 21:14we call that our testimony. Are you telling people about the
- 21:17goodness of God in your life? Are you telling people how he's
- 21:21rescued you from darkness and brought you to the Kingdom of
- 21:23the Son of his love and to the Kingdom of light, how your deeds
- 21:27have been exposed? And as you came into the light,
- 21:29the blood of Jesus Christ cleans you from all sin?
- 21:32Are you telling people how much he loves you, man?
- 21:35Are you telling me, guys, that's how we change the world.
- 21:38We change the world one person at a time right now.
- 21:42We doing it on radio, We doing it on TV.
- 21:44We doing it all over the world right now.
- 21:47But when was the last time you stopped and told somebody your
- 21:50testimony? See, I do this thing when I go
- 21:52to the store and embarrasses my wife and I embarrass her all the
- 21:56time. So my wife, my wife's from the
- 21:59Midwest, She's from Chicago. So there's some rules that I
- 22:02didn't know about how we're supposed to behave.
- 22:07And of course, I grew up, I grew up on the beach, and then I
- 22:10moved to Idaho in 1976. I've been there since then.
- 22:12So I'm like, I'm a little bit redneck.
- 22:16I'm just going to be honest with you.
- 22:18And so I go to the grocery store.
- 22:20I find the longest line to get in.
- 22:22Do you know why I get in the longest line?
- 22:24Because I'm always going to pick the wrong line anyway.
- 22:28And so I just picked the wrong. I picked the long line.
- 22:31And I pull in and I wait. And then usually somebody gets
- 22:35behind me. And then I start to pray.
- 22:38And then I just start talking to people about Jesus.
- 22:41I start saying, hey, how's your day?
- 22:43I'm like, oh, it's good. It's a little busy in here.
- 22:45I said, it is. If the person behind me is
- 22:48elderly and they've only got a couple things, I might want you
- 22:49to go first. Right.
- 22:50And then you can see all the other people going, what's up
- 22:53with this guy? And she goes, oh, it's very nice
- 22:56of you. Then somebody said, why did you
- 22:57do that? It's busy in here.
- 22:58I said, I did that because God's love compels me to be gracious
- 23:01and kind. And I can wait.
- 23:05And so can I tell you about Jesus right now?
- 23:07Sometimes I'm in line and I start talking about Jesus.
- 23:09I get to the front of the line because people just get out of
- 23:11the way. It's like part in the sea.
- 23:12It's like, it's like, hey, there's some preacher over here.
- 23:16Everybody get out. It's happened on more than one
- 23:20occasion. My wife laughs when it happens.
- 23:22She goes you you can clear a room faster than a cop.
- 23:24I said yes I can. I go into a parking lot with
- 23:29people that, like, I'll loiter and I start talking about Jesus.
- 23:31They're like, they're gone. Cops show up and the lights
- 23:33flash and everybody's like, what's happening?
- 23:36Like, I'm just going to talk to people about Jesus now.
- 23:38Are you talking to people about Jesus?
- 23:40If you love God, if you love others, you're telling people
- 23:45about Jesus. Now here's the next thing.
- 23:48Of all the good things in your life, James 117 says all good
- 23:51things come down from the Father of lights.
- 23:53If there's something good in your life, it is from the Lord.
- 23:58Gentlemen, the Bible says he who finds a wife finds a good thing.
- 24:05You need to take the time today to thank God for your wife.
- 24:10Ladies, I got nothing for you. Got to put up with him.
- 24:14No, no ladies. If you got a good man, you need
- 24:16to be thankful for that. You need to be thankful for the
- 24:19good things that are in your life.
- 24:21OK, enough being funny. Let's move on Now check this
- 24:23out, he says of this man. He says and for the he says for
- 24:30we have great joy. I love the sentence.
- 24:34We have a great joy and peace or consolation.
- 24:38Comfort in what? Your what?
- 24:42Love says, man, You're love. We've you love God, you love
- 24:46others. You love the loss you're telling
- 24:48about Jesus. And then we have been refreshed
- 24:53by your love, as he goes on to say, because the hearts of the
- 24:56Saints have been refreshed by you.
- 24:58Brother. How many of you guys in this
- 25:02room would say that you are Old Testament fans?
- 25:04You love the Old Testament. Who's like, Oh yeah.
- 25:06Oh, good for you. There's my Old Testament people.
- 25:09Right on. How many of you are like, Old
- 25:11Testament's boring. I could do without it.
- 25:14OK, I'm going to try and change your mind.
- 25:17So hold on a second. The rest of you who didn't raise
- 25:19your hands? Yeah, y'all busted now.
- 25:22But here's the thing. We have a tendency to not think
- 25:26about the Old Testament the way we should.
- 25:28I want to share something with you about the Old Testament.
- 25:31How many guys know that in Genesis is where we find the
- 25:33first promise of a savior? Genesis 315, first promise of a
- 25:38savior. It's called the Proto Evangelium
- 25:40for those who for Bible students in the room, right?
- 25:43And then we see in Genesis chapter 12, we see a promise to
- 25:47Abraham that he is through him all the nations of the earth
- 25:50shall be blessed. Well then that promise is
- 25:53reaffirmed in chapter 15, Chapter 17 again a little bit in
- 25:56chapter 18. And then we see that that what
- 25:59happens in chapter 22 of Genesis where he takes Isaac, right?
- 26:03And Isaac's like, hey dad, we got wood, we got fire.
- 26:07Where to sacrifice because Isaac wasn't stupid and he wasn't 12,
- 26:11right? And so Abraham and Isaac up the
- 26:14hill and Abraham says God will provide himself a sacrifice and
- 26:18he did. It was Jesus.
- 26:20So what happens is we study the Bible and we forget how
- 26:24important the Old Testament is. Because I was raised and I
- 26:28didn't know this when I was first a Christian, I thought the
- 26:30New Testament started in Matthew.
- 26:32Do you know why I thought the New Testament started in
- 26:34Matthew? Because there's a big old page
- 26:36that said New Testament and then Matthew was the next book.
- 26:41Testament is a covenant. Do you guys realize that the the
- 26:46the new covenant, the New Testament started when the
- 26:48church was born in Acts chapter 2.
- 26:50When Jesus died on the cross, he said it's finished.
- 26:52That's at the end of the Gospels.
- 26:53So what are the Gospels for? What's the Old Testament for?
- 26:56Check this out. Think about it like a big
- 26:58doorway. The Old Testaments on this side
- 27:01and the capstones of the Old Testament is Jesus fulfilling
- 27:06all the promises of the Old Testament and bring us over to
- 27:09the book of Acts, which you guys are studying together now and
- 27:13lead us all the way through the New Testament.
- 27:16And so that's a great way to consider that you.
- 27:18We need to know the Old Testament.
- 27:20But one of the thing we learned about the Old Testament, we
- 27:22learn in the Old Testament is that sin affects an entire
- 27:25people. Did you guys know that sin
- 27:27affects an entire people? The sin of a husband will affect
- 27:32his marriage. The sin of a wife will affect
- 27:35your household. The sin of children affects
- 27:37other children. The sin affects a people, not
- 27:40just a person. And you have to understand
- 27:44there's sin done by us, sin done to us, and sin done in our
- 27:47presence. And it all defiles us.
- 27:49And we all need the blood of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from
- 27:51sin. But sin affects the whole
- 27:54people. Did you guys also know that love
- 27:56affects a whole group of people? Love affects a whole group of
- 28:00people. When there is real love in this
- 28:02house, it will change people when they walk through the
- 28:05doors. Listen, here's the here's the
- 28:07reality, right? We at a church a lot like the
- 28:10church back home. For me, if you're uncomfortable
- 28:13sitting next to people who smell like weed and booze, this isn't
- 28:15the place for you. Because we want broken people
- 28:18here. How many guys understand we want
- 28:19the House of God full of broken people because that's where
- 28:22they're going to get help. But Jesus is here to help them.
- 28:24We want them here. And so when they come through,
- 28:26we gonna love them, man. We had one dude vaping down the
- 28:31children's ministry hallway one day and we're like, what are you
- 28:36doing? Because I'm going to get my kid.
- 28:41I'm like, you need to stop doing that.
- 28:44It didn't even occur to him that he shouldn't do it.
- 28:48He's like he he was just his life was just broken and we just
- 28:52loved him. We also told him to stop because
- 28:55we love our kids too, right? We'll talk about that as we
- 28:58close up. There's a balance in these
- 29:00things. But here's the idea, this idea
- 29:03that love, love and grace can change a people.
- 29:07Just like sin can affect the people.
- 29:10The thing about the power that you find in the leader like fi
- 29:13Lehman is that. And also in Paul is that the the
- 29:18authority of a leader is found in their love, not in their
- 29:20title. And you need to understand
- 29:24something is that love is the thing that draws us to people.
- 29:32It's love. It's true love and true
- 29:34compassion for people. And if you love people, you tell
- 29:36them the truth, right? Well, because by Lehman is such
- 29:40a great guy. Paul says this in verse eight.
- 29:42He says, therefore, because you're such a great dude,
- 29:45because you love God, you love people, you love the lost, and
- 29:48people are being refreshed by your love for them, he says.
- 29:51Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to command
- 29:54you, what is fitting? He says.
- 29:55Look, I could just tell you what to do and you need to do it.
- 29:58I could do that. But he says, but for Love's
- 30:01sake, because of love, I'm going to ask you to do this.
- 30:07I'm not going to command you. By the way, you understand that
- 30:09Paul had some clout in the early church, right?
- 30:12He could have commanded. He says no because of your love
- 30:15for God, your love for people, your love for the loss, and your
- 30:17love for your community. I'm going to ask you for Love's
- 30:19sake, to do this thing, which I'm going to ask you to do right
- 30:21now is a hard thing to do. Listen very carefully.
- 30:25What Paul's going to ask him to do is a hard thing to do.
- 30:27What I'm going to ask you to do today is going to be a hard
- 30:29thing to do because I'm going to ask you to love those who are
- 30:31unlovable. I'm going to ask you to love
- 30:34your enemies because God asks you to love your enemies.
- 30:35I'm going to ask you to do the hard thing, and that's what
- 30:39Paul. He says, for Love's sake.
- 30:40I'm asking you to do the hard thing.
- 30:43I'm. I'm asking you to step up and do
- 30:45the hard thing. And he goes, he says this.
- 30:46He says, he says for Love's sake, I rather appeal to you.
- 30:51And then he says this. You understand there's a little
- 30:53bit of humor here, being such a one as Paul the missionary, the
- 30:59the go getter for the church, the aged and the prisoner of the
- 31:03Lord. Do you guys see the little bit
- 31:05of, I'm not going to say manipulation, I'm just going to
- 31:09say truth that he's dropping. He's like, look, man, I could
- 31:13compel you, but I'm not going to do it for Love's sake because
- 31:16you're a guy who loves God, you love, you love others, you love
- 31:18the loss. You refresh people with love.
- 31:20I'm going to ask you to do this, but remember who I am.
- 31:22And remember I'm old and I'm in jail.
- 31:26Oh, come on, you. You don't see that.
- 31:28That's funny to me. I'm like, I'll look at that and
- 31:30I go, Paul's got a sense of humor, right?
- 31:33I look at that, I go, that's really, that's something else.
- 31:35But then he goes on, he says this.
- 31:37He says that this is the second appeal.
- 31:38He says, I appeal to you for my son, Onissimus.
- 31:43Onissimus was a slave that belonged to fi Lehman who ran
- 31:46away. Onissimus means profitable.
- 31:49And then he goes, whom I have begotten well in my chains, he's
- 31:54my son. In the faith he's he was lost,
- 31:56but now he's found. He's part of the body of Christ
- 31:58and I can't just keep him with me.
- 32:00I need to send him back to make things right.
- 32:01Church. You need to make things right.
- 32:04If you've hurt people, you need to make things right.
- 32:07You can't just you can't just walk away.
- 32:09You got to make things right, fix things, make things right.
- 32:16Some of the weirdest things for me in our fellowship is to watch
- 32:20two people who were divorced, came to know Christ, got
- 32:25remarried, and then both ended up at all.
- 32:27Four of them ended up at church together and to watch them
- 32:31worship together and to sort through that mess that was their
- 32:33life by making things right. And they're not going to,
- 32:37they're going to undo, they're not going to undo things.
- 32:39They came to Jesus after those issues, but they're they're
- 32:42making it right. They're going to fix those
- 32:44things. They're going to work those
- 32:45things out. We got to make things right with
- 32:47people. We can't just hurt people and
- 32:49walk off. We got to make it right.
- 32:51So Paul's asking him to do this. He says he's asking Odyssemous
- 32:55to go back and he says, he says this.
- 32:57He says he was once he he who is once unprofitable.
- 33:01He was he was became unprofitable to you when he left
- 33:04you. But now it's profitable to you
- 33:08and to me. He's asking them to do the hard
- 33:11thing. Church, There are times that we
- 33:14get asked to do the hard thing. Have you guys ever left church
- 33:18doing one of these going because the word of God just kind of
- 33:23cracked you across the tush. You know what I'm talking about?
- 33:26Like you, you come to church. You're like, oh, it's great to
- 33:28be here today. I'm so glad to be in God's
- 33:30house. And they opened the Bible up
- 33:33past the head, opens the Bible up.
- 33:34He starts reading. You're like, I really wish I'd
- 33:37have stayed in bed because God's speaking to you through the Holy
- 33:41Spirit. When God's speaking to the Holy
- 33:44Spirit, he's giving you an opportunity for confession.
- 33:46He's giving you an opportunity to repent, to change your mind
- 33:48about things, to come to him. But here's the thing about love
- 33:51that I I want to leave you guys with.
- 33:54Remember we talked about how important the Old Testament is?
- 33:57Did you guys know that when Paul and Titus and Timothy and Phi
- 34:01Lehman and these all these other guys were talking about the the
- 34:06Bible, they were talking about the Old Testament.
- 34:08You guys familiar with that? And so Paul says something very
- 34:11interesting when he's writing to Timothy.
- 34:14He says this. He says now the purpose.
- 34:18And this is in First Timothy, chapter one, verse five.
- 34:22He says, now the purpose of the commandment, that's the word of
- 34:26God. He says the purpose of the
- 34:28commandment is love. What's the purpose of the
- 34:31commandment? Church love.
- 34:33The purpose of the commandment is love.
- 34:35When you don't understand the Old Testament, that's very hard
- 34:37to understand that the purpose of the commandment is love.
- 34:41And it's from a pure heart, a good conscience and sincere or
- 34:45unhypocritical faith. So the purpose of the
- 34:47commandment is love. But love comes out of those
- 34:49things when we've been made right before the Lord.
- 34:52But here's the thing, he goes on to say, he says.
- 34:55From which some have strayed straight from what?
- 34:59The commandment and the commandment is love, but they've
- 35:01strayed from that. Turning aside to what?
- 35:04Idle talk. There are people behind pulpits
- 35:07talking about stuff that we shouldn't be talking about, and
- 35:11there's stuff Christians are talking about online.
- 35:13We need to stop. We need to share the love and
- 35:18the light of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 35:22Use every vessel, every tool you got.
- 35:25We use all kinds of social media.
- 35:27We drop more than one. We drop.
- 35:29We drop more than one video a day.
- 35:30We we busy as a church. Social media wise, we got stuff
- 35:34going on and out and it's all about Jesus.
- 35:40There are things that don't belong here, Paul goes on to
- 35:44tell Timothy. Look, the word of God shows us
- 35:47what is right, what is wrong, how to get right, how to stay
- 35:49right. So young man, preach the word.
- 35:55If you're a young guy in here, young gal in here, you want to
- 35:58be teaching, you preach the word.
- 36:02You don't preach other stuff. You preach the word.
- 36:04That's what we're called to do. I'm not going to get caught up
- 36:07in this other stuff. Well, these guys got caught up
- 36:10in idle talk. Listen, desiring to be teachers
- 36:13of what? The law and the purpose of the
- 36:16commandment is what love. But they want to be teachers of
- 36:19the commandment of the law and understand neither the things
- 36:22which they say nor the things which they affirm.
- 36:24Want to share with you guys? About my first experience in a
- 36:28church? Remember I was 20 years old when
- 36:31I I I received Jesus. I was a mess.
- 36:34I was a bar musician. When I was 16, OKI played in a
- 36:39reggae band. That was my first band I played
- 36:41in. I was.
- 36:41I played reggae music, right? I love reggae music.
- 36:46I couldn't play it worth a darn, but I loved reggae music and so
- 36:49I got quickly replaced. And then I played in a funk band
- 36:53and I was the only white guy in the band and so they started
- 36:56calling me Tyrone and that's my alias.
- 36:59I actually, I actually, I went out in my scholarship plaques at
- 37:02the university where I went to school, say Tyrone on them.
- 37:06All my professors call me Tyrone.
- 37:08I like, I like okay. So I'm playing in these bands.
- 37:10I'm doing all this stuff. That was my life and I had this
- 37:14encounter with Jesus and I said, I have this encounter with
- 37:18Jesus, I need to find church. And so I go to the only church
- 37:21that I knew it, which was a little Bible church in an
- 37:24A-frame on our campus. And I went to this little
- 37:27university Bible church and I went in there and I sat down in
- 37:30the back and I had an usher come grab me hard enough by the arm
- 37:36to bruise me, to pick me up and say you cannot be here.
- 37:43And I'm like porque. And why not?
- 37:49He said. Because you have long hair.
- 37:53Yes, I had hair. This is punishment for a mullet.
- 38:03I'm just saying, I had the part. I had the party in the back,
- 38:07been this in the front, you know, But he said you can't have
- 38:10long hair and be in church. You're a man, you can't have
- 38:12long hair. And he escorted me out of the
- 38:14church. Now, later on, I learned where
- 38:17that passage is from. That's in First Corinthians
- 38:19Chapter 11, to which Paul says we as the church have no such
- 38:26customs. This man wanted to be a teacher
- 38:31of the Word, but he didn't even know the Word.
- 38:34And if you would have known the Word, he didn't know.
- 38:36What I needed was the love of the body of Christ, not a
- 38:39haircut. God took care of the haircut.
- 38:45See, if there's something needs to be changed in your life,
- 38:47God's going to handle it. He going to get it done.
- 38:54But you know what we need to do as a church?
- 38:55We need to love people. We need to love people in all
- 38:58their mess. Because there is therefore now
- 39:01no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.
- 39:05And if you come to Jesus with all your mess, you're going to
- 39:07be loved and you're going to be loved.
- 39:08Here I want to share a couple things as I close up with you.
- 39:13The purpose of the commandments, right?
- 39:15If you're a note taker, I got a few things for you to write
- 39:17down. It's like I probably have a
- 39:18whole another Bible study where the stuff in here I'm just going
- 39:21to share a few things with you. First of all, we talk about the
- 39:24commandments. The purpose of the commandment
- 39:27is love. Listen to this Matthew 22 versus
- 39:3134 through 40. Jesus is confronted by a
- 39:35Pharisee, a doctor of the law, and he says to Jesus, what are
- 39:39the greatest commandments? What does Jesus say?
- 39:41You shall love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, mind
- 39:43and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.
- 39:44In this fulfill all the long prophets in the Gospel of Mark
- 39:50we see in Mark's account that he is he is approached by a scribe
- 39:54who are like the lawyers of the day.
- 39:56So it could have been very much that this typical.
- 39:58It could be the same event or different one.
- 40:01But in Mark 1228 through 34, the same thing happens.
- 40:04Jesus answers the same way, but then we get to one of my
- 40:08favorite gospels, which is the Gospel of Luke.
- 40:11And in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 10, verses 20, it's 27
- 40:15through was what was it, 25 through 37, Jesus is confronted
- 40:24by a lawyer and Jesus doesn't answer.
- 40:27He says to the lawyer, well, what do you think it says?
- 40:30And what does the lawyer say? You shall love the Lord that God
- 40:33with all your heart, so mind and strength, you shall love your
- 40:35neighbors yourself. And Jesus says you are right.
- 40:39What's the purpose of the commandment?
- 40:40Church Love. Jesus says the purpose of the
- 40:45commandment, to fulfill the commandment As to what?
- 40:47Love God, Love others. Repeat.
- 40:50Say it with me. Love God, love others.
- 40:53Repeat. Now I love what we find, where
- 40:57we find these. That's Deuteronomy, by the way.
- 40:58Deuteronomy 6 versus 4 and five, that's where we find love God.
- 41:04But then we find in Leviticus 1918, that's where we find love
- 41:07neighbor. And they put it all together.
- 41:11In Psalm 19 seven it says the law of the Lord is perfect
- 41:14converting the soul. What's the purpose of the
- 41:15commandment? Is love.
- 41:18And I love what Paul says in Romans 2 four, he says In Romans
- 41:212 four, he says, do you not know?
- 41:23It is the goodness of God that leads a man to repentance.
- 41:27The love of God changes your life, and the love of God will
- 41:29change other people's lives. Church, we're to love God, love
- 41:33others, and we're to take that love into the world and show
- 41:36grace to people in real time because God's grace is available
- 41:39for them. But there's two things that are
- 41:42this is the hard thing I'm going to ask you to do.
- 41:44This is like Paul asking fine Lehman to receive Onissimus.
- 41:48I'm going to ask you to love your enemies.
- 41:51Now here's the good thing. You're not going to have to be
- 41:53mad at me because I'm not asking you directly.
- 41:57I'm asking you on behalf of the word of God, because it tells us
- 42:02in Matthew, chapter 5 versus 43 and 44 that we are to love our
- 42:06enemies. Those who come against us, those
- 42:08who want to use us, were to love our enemies.
- 42:11Do you know why it's hard to love your enemies?
- 42:13Because they're your enemies. Hello.
- 42:17That's that's that's an easy answer.
- 42:19Luke 627 and 28 tell us the same thing.
- 42:22We are to love our enemies. So I want to share with you how
- 42:27we do this. How do we love in a world that's
- 42:30so full of indifference and hate?
- 42:33Well, in our fellowship we we we have a culture.
- 42:37We say it's love over fear. Do you know, I always say it's
- 42:40love over fear because it tells us in First John that true love
- 42:47does what casts out fear because fear involves what for men.
- 42:54How many people do you know won't come to church because
- 42:55they're afraid to come to church?
- 42:56Do you know why they're afraid to come to church?
- 42:58Because they don't know if there's going to be love here.
- 43:00But if there's love here, that love will cast out their fears
- 43:04and they will sit down in their mess and their muck and their
- 43:07mire, and they will begin to know who Jesus is through the
- 43:10word of God, Right? Oh, yeah.
- 43:13You can clap for that. Yeah.
- 43:14Yeah, Absolutely, 100%. Now here's what I want you to
- 43:18realize. I want to talk about this.
- 43:19We live in a weird world, Dan. I'm going to do something.
- 43:22I need you to pretend with me. I'm a creative person, so I I do
- 43:25a lot of things with pictures. I sometimes I use a whiteboard
- 43:28when I teach and spell everything wrong so people know
- 43:30it's okay. But I want you to put the word
- 43:33like right here, the word hate. Right here, put the word hate.
- 43:37You already got the word hate. You pull a box of word right
- 43:39here, Okay word. This is hate.
- 43:42Then over here, we're going to draw a line and we're going to
- 43:45put the word word AFFIRM over here.
- 43:48Now here's the problem with the world that we live in right now,
- 43:51especially as Christians. They're only giving us two
- 43:55options in this world right now, especially in the Western world,
- 44:01Eastern world. This is not an issue in the
- 44:05Western world. Here's the issue.
- 44:09They say to me, you have to affirm my sin or you hate me.
- 44:18You understand? It's it's a linear line.
- 44:19That's all I get. And that they put me in one or
- 44:22two categories. Either you affirm or you hate.
- 44:25Hold on a second. I am told I can't hate my
- 44:27enemies by God. And if I'm a Christian man, I
- 44:30don't. I don't hate my enemies.
- 44:32So I can't hate you. Don't say I hate you.
- 44:34I can't hate you. But I also cannot affirm you
- 44:38either. Because I love you.
- 44:40Because I love you. I'm going to tell you what The
- 44:42love of God. I'm going to tell you what
- 44:44you're doing right now before God has some issues and you need
- 44:49to repent, change your mind about those things and follow
- 44:52God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
- 44:56I'm going to step up and I'm going to come up here for Love's
- 44:58sake. I'm not going to hate you.
- 45:02I'm not going to affirm you. But church, there's something we
- 45:05doing. We doing a lot of hate online.
- 45:08Church, we doing a lot of hate online.
- 45:09We need to stop this stuff. There is stuff that does not
- 45:13belong in a pulpit, man. The pulpit is for the word of
- 45:17God. I had a I don't, I don't talk
- 45:20about, I don't talk about world stuff.
- 45:23I address cultural issues like I am now.
- 45:26But I had a couple that were new to the church.
- 45:29They've moved into our area, you know, and they said, well, we
- 45:33want to know where you stand with your, you know, your, your
- 45:35political views. And I said, I'm not having this
- 45:38conversation with you in church. I don't talk.
- 45:42I'm going to talk about the love of Jesus.
- 45:43I'm going to talk about the word of God because that's what the
- 45:45pulpit's for. I've been called to preach the
- 45:47word of God. If I was supposed to be a
- 45:49politician, I would leave the pulpit.
- 45:50I'd become a politician. That that's it.
- 45:53If I'm on this is not a platform for that.
- 45:56And so they said, but they pushed me and they pushed me.
- 45:58I had one of our security guys with me.
- 46:00His name's Chris. Love this guy Chris.
- 46:02And I go outside and I said, okay, I will not have this
- 46:05conversation with you in the church.
- 46:06Let's go out in the parking lot. So we went out in the parking
- 46:08lot and we actually went out to the cars and they looked at me
- 46:11and said okay, So which side of the aisle you on?
- 46:15And I'm thinking to myself, Lord, give me wisdom.
- 46:18And I just looked at him and I said, okay, here's the deal.
- 46:22You want to know what side of the aisle I'm on?
- 46:24Listen, here's the deal. I'm not this side.
- 46:26I'm not that side. I'm a monarchist.
- 46:28I believe in the rule of 1 king. He's coming back and he will fix
- 46:32it all. And I just said that's the real
- 46:40that's just how it is, right? I never saw him again.
- 46:43Do you know why? Because they wanted to hate, and
- 46:49I wouldn't let him hate. They wanted to say things about
- 46:53people. They wanted to say hateful
- 46:55things about people. We can't be doing that church.
- 46:57That is not what we're called to do.
- 46:59You and I are not called to hate.
- 47:01We're not even supposed to hate our enemies.
- 47:03And you know, I'm going to be honest with you.
- 47:04That verse bothers me. Those verses bother me.
- 47:08Lord, I want to hate my enemies because they're my enemies.
- 47:11And the Lord's like, no, don't do that.
- 47:13That's not how you win them to me.
- 47:14You win them by loving them. Do you realize that loving your
- 47:18enemies could cost you everything she has?
- 47:21Know that my choice to say I'm gonna preach the word of God has
- 47:27cost me hundreds of relationships because of people
- 47:31who want to hate. I shared this idea of not hating
- 47:35and not affirming but loving. Coming to that the other option,
- 47:38which is a biblical option, we had a family leave the church
- 47:44and I I reached out to him and said Oh no, no, no, because we
- 47:47hate and we decided to hate church.
- 47:52I'm going to tell you something right now.
- 47:53I don't understand why people are choosing to do what they
- 47:56know God tells them not to do. We're counseling people right
- 48:00now. People are getting divorced and
- 48:02they say to us as pastors, well, we know it's wrong and we know
- 48:05we shouldn't do it, but we've decided we're going to do it
- 48:07anyway. What is wrong with us?
- 48:12So maybe you're here today and you got some hate, maybe you got
- 48:16some hate going on, and maybe it's just maybe you've been
- 48:18watching a little bit too much news, you know what I'm saying?
- 48:22You got some hate going and you need to let that go because
- 48:24you're not going to win anybody with hate.
- 48:27And maybe you're so tired of hate.
- 48:28You've come over here and you're just saying, but I'm just, you
- 48:30know what? If that's what they want to do,
- 48:32that's fine. Just gonna let them do.
- 48:35No. Maybe you need to repent of
- 48:37that. And maybe you need to come to
- 48:39the place and say, if I'm going to love people, I'm going to
- 48:41share with them the testimony of Jesus, that they might know
- 48:43Jesus and run away from their sin and have eternal life.
- 48:45But I'm not going to hate people and I'm not going to affirm
- 48:47them. I'm going to love them because
- 48:48God has called me to love God, to love others, and to repeat
- 48:51that process and take that out into the world and to refresh
- 48:54the church with my love that God has given me to give to them.
- 48:57That's what we got to do, church.
- 48:58So let's all stand and let's pray together.
- 49:03Father God, you are so good and we are so messed up and we need
- 49:10your help because Lord, we need your help to do these very
- 49:13things. And Lord, I pray, Lord, for
- 49:16those that right now they might need a might need a touch from
- 49:19your spirit to just say I, I I got hate in my heart.
- 49:22I got to let it go. Maybe there's people today that
- 49:28just don't know you. They've never confessed with
- 49:30their mouth. They've never believed in their
- 49:31heart that they could be saved. Maybe today they need to.
- 49:35They need to with their heart. They need to believe God and
- 49:38with their mouth they need to confess and make make that
- 49:40confession into salvation. Lord, I pray that you would do
- 49:44only that sovereign work that you can do and draw people to
- 49:46yourself, and you would add to the church daily those that
- 49:48would be saved. But Lord, I also asked that you
- 49:51would do a work of healing where we have hatred, Lord, a work of
- 49:57truth where we have compromise. And you do that in and through
- 50:01each one of us as we love you and love one another.
- 50:03In Jesus name God's kid, say Amen.
- 50:06Church, you are loved, You are a family.
- 50:08Never forget it. Let's give the Lord a hand.
- 50:09Let's praise him. We pray that you've been
