- 0:00Triple back alert triple back alert triple back alert folks. That's right
- 0:03We got three people that got paid today. All right, Jordan love got paid to a guy paid and
- 0:11Taylor Decker got paid. All right. Now the real question is how do they affect the Cowboys current negotiations?
- 0:19With Dak Prescott and how does Taylor Decker's deal affect Trent Williams current holdout?
- 0:25Also, does it add more fuel to the fire?
- 0:30For the 49ers to try to get a deal done with Trent Williams as well as is the quarterback market starting to become a little bit out of hand
- 0:37Is it me? I think it's just me. I don't know. We'll talk about this all of this in more on the ninth team episode of
- 0:45The greatest football podcast you could possibly listen to on a day-to-day basis
- 0:51I am your host your GM who still is on the road currently in Miami
- 0:58Sipping a pina colada
- 1:00Looking at the mock drafts as well as all 22 film for the next three years in advance kale. Let's lock in
- 1:18All right folks, let's get into these bag alerts, okay? We're gonna start off with the quarterbacks
- 1:32Then we're gonna go to the offensive linemen. Okay, because everybody likes the quarterbacks and just got to show them love
- 1:39Sometimes more than offensive linemen. So but we're gonna do things a little bit different though
- 1:43We're gonna go and we're gonna go in depth a little bit more with all of these contracts. Okay, so if you guys don't know
- 1:50Tua inked a four-year
- 1:53212.4 million dollar extension with the Dolphins. He gets a 42 million dollar signing bonus. He gets
- 2:0293.1 million guaranteed at signing as well as
- 2:07167.1 million in total guarantees his average salary folks
- 2:1553.1 million, okay
- 2:17Now when you when you look at everything, you know from a broad perspective, you're probably thinking okay the dolphins
- 2:24You know ain't up, you know not inked up but locked up there
- 2:27You know their their franchise quarterback cool great amazing
- 2:31But when you really look at it, right you you really have to sort of go in depth to really
- 2:37Understand the structure of the contract because if you just look at the numbers you're thinking
- 2:42Oh, you know the dolphins basically somewhat overpaid for him and you know this and the other and whatever
- 2:49You know whatever opinions that you know people can possibly have
- 2:52But when you really go in depth and you look at the the contract they structured the contract in a way
- 2:58So that basically they front-loaded it and the reason why I say front-load is because basically
- 3:04He gets a large majority of his money within the first two to three years
- 3:10So that guess what that back part of that contract if anything crazy happens
- 3:15Guess what they can they can move off of it very easily and there's no problems
- 3:20Compared to if you if you back load the contract and now you're in a position where you're trying to figure out exactly
- 3:27How are you going to?
- 3:29You know break down and try to either do a restructure or to a trade or you know a release or whatever the case may be
- 3:38Because let's let's because let's be let's be real here folks coming into the league to
- 3:44Suffered a major injury while he was in college right an injury that by many accounts is somewhat similar to what Bo Jackson
- 3:52Suffered when he was playing for the Raiders and ultimately ended his
- 3:55football career right and so you know those first few years when Tua was you know in you know in the NFL
- 4:04He was taking some shots right and let's not forget the the the season where he
- 4:11Suffered multiple concussions in one season there there was a point in time
- 4:16Where you could easily make an argument that you know Tua is gonna have to make some very serious
- 4:24life decisions because he just kept on taking you know concussions left and right and
- 4:31You know you would see him you know within the next you know two weeks or whatever
- 4:36But it's like no it doesn't work like that. We have seen multiple players
- 4:41Who who have had to retire because of multiple head injuries case in point Luke Keekley?
- 4:48Luke Keekley had to retire because he kept on getting concussions
- 4:52If he had he not gotten those those you know all those concussions that he suffered Luke Keekley
- 4:59Probably would have you know had a longer career, but he just couldn't do it anymore, right?
- 5:04And so you know with with Tua situation as far as being a quarterback the dolphins
- 5:10Basically prioritized and basically made it made a contract to where okay. Yes, you get your money
- 5:17But at the same time if anything crazy happens guess what we can move off of it. We can restructure it
- 5:24We can adjust it. We can do so many different things instead of you know it being an ironclad, you know
- 5:31Unmovable type of deal right and then not to mention
- 5:35Let's let's sort of give an applause to Mike McDaniel as well because let's be real here
- 5:41Um when Brian Flores was the head coach for you know for the dolphins to it was not to it was not doing the best
- 5:48and there were you know, there were a lot of rumors and
- 5:52Talk, you know around the lead that was basically
- 5:55Saying hey the dolphins might move off it to hey the dolphins might be involved in trying to get time Brady
- 6:01Hey, the dolphins might be involved in trying to get the Sean Watson at that time when when you know before he got traded to the
- 6:08to the Browns
- 6:09so you have to it's been a very roller coaster-esque type of
- 6:15career so far for Tula and
- 6:18Honestly speaking last season was statistically speaking his best season, right?
- 6:25And I'm gonna I'm gonna read off these stats
- 6:27I just want you to sort of you know get a glimpse of exactly how great or not great
- 6:33But how good his season was right so he had
- 6:36388 completions
- 6:40560 attempts he had a
- 6:4369.3
- 6:45completion percentage right he threw for
- 6:494,624 yards he had 29 touchdowns almost 30 touchdowns right 14 interceptions
- 6:57I mean come on folks. Those are really good numbers
- 7:00Those are really good numbers and you would expect that with the type of offense that they ran
- 7:05You know when you have Jalen waddle and Tyree Kale and David our chain and Raheem Oster and company
- 7:11Of course, you know, he's gonna put up those numbers
- 7:14But at the same time you also see that the dolphins also
- 7:19Prioritized in making sure that they protect to it as best as possible
- 7:23So what did they do? They emphasized more on the run game
- 7:27They emphasize more on the quick pass they emphasize more on trying to be as fast as possible
- 7:33Because they realized that the longer that to a holds on to the ball the more
- 7:38Acceptable he is to get hurt right and when we when we sort of go a little bit more in depth
- 7:45Into you know into this iceberg according to next gen stats right shout out to the next gen stats 620 since 2016
- 7:53Tua has thrown
- 7:551199 yards on quick passes traveling
- 7:5910 plus air yards alright last season last season alone
- 8:05Then any other quarterback right so
- 8:09Now now you're probably thinking you know why why would you read off a stat like this?
- 8:13That's because that shows that Mike McDaniel and that offense is
- 8:19Emphasizing more on getting the ball out of two his hands as fast as possible. That's their goal and it worked and you know
- 8:26The the stats you know basically speak for themselves now the question is
- 8:33You know, what is the expectation moving forward right because let's be real here the dolphins have basically
- 8:41Mortgage
- 8:42Well not not completely mortgage, but they are trying to mortgage that roster to get a Super Bowl and
- 8:49Granted, you know the super the roster is is really good
- 8:52It is on both sides of the ball. It really is however, however, we do have to address the elephant in the room here
- 9:01You know Tyree kill is gonna want is gonna want more money to run arm instead at one point in the offseason was contemplating retirement
- 9:09They lost Connor Williams and you know that roster is on the ticking time bomb
- 9:15It's not a bunch of you know young players who you know are just about to enter into their prime one
- 9:22Not like no you have a mixture of old of old veterans and you know still fairly
- 9:29You know young players who are still in their prime, right and not to mention you're in a division where you have Aaron Rodgers
- 9:37And Josh Allen as well
- 9:39So you have there there's a lot of there's a lot of things that are riding on this one season
- 9:45Alone not to mention the multiple moves that they made in order to bolster the roster as well
- 9:51When you you know when they went after and got Bradley Chud
- 9:55I can't even speak Bradley Chubb and they paid him when they went after
- 10:00Jaylin Ramsey and whatnot those weren't just you know just moves just to just to make them
- 10:06They're making those moves because they feel like in their heart of hearts that they can try to to the Super Bowl and possibly win
- 10:14That's what it boils down to right and so you know the pressure is on to and now
- 10:19To you know to show up you got paid. So now you have to show up folks
- 10:27You know kudos to the front office for for modeling a
- 10:31Contract that not only pays to but at the same time protects them just in case of anything crazy happens and you know finally things
- 10:40You know came to an understanding now moving on to Jordan loves this deal, right? Well actually know what no no no
- 10:47No, I want to I want to keep on talking about to was deal a little bit more
- 10:51Just just so people can sort of like understand things right because I wanted to do something a little bit different, right?
- 10:57So when you look at to his deal shout out to spot rack as well because spot rack
- 11:02Allows you to see the breakdown of the cap space. I mean not the cap space
- 11:07But the cap hit of you know a player's contract and whatnot, right? So when you look at it, right?
- 11:12To his deal to his deal come what what is it next year next year?
- 11:18His cap hit will be fifty nine point four million his base salary only be twenty five million the year after that
- 11:25That's when it's the year where it's going to be the most amount of money, right?
- 11:30His base salary is going to be fifty four million his cap is going to be sixty three point four million
- 11:36However, he does have an out in
- 11:392027 right the dead cap it will only be nineteen point eight million
- 11:45So the the reason why I'm saying all of this is because the dolphins did it the right way
- 11:52They understood that he has a high, you know that he has a high injury risk
- 11:56But at the same time they do realize that they do want to pay him because of
- 12:01You know of how great the offense runs when he is on the field
- 12:05So, you know, it's it's basically it's like peanut butter and jelly if they came together it worked and
- 12:13You know, this is this is the type of deal that you have now
- 12:17Moving on to Jordan loves his deal because Jordan loves his deal is also unique as well, right?
- 12:23So Jordan love ain't a four year two hundred twenty million dollar deal
- 12:28He gets a seventy five million dollar signing bonus. He gets a hundred million a hundred point eight million guaranteed at signing
- 12:35He'll have a hundred and sixty point three million in total guarantees
- 12:40His average salary will be fifty five million which ties with both Joe Burrow and
- 12:47Trevor Lawrence as the highest paid quarterbacks in the league now
- 12:51When we look at Jordan loves his situation right Jordan love situations a little bit
- 12:55awkward
- 12:57Because he didn't he didn't initially, you know play, you know his all of his rookie season, right?
- 13:04He had to sit behind in Rogers, of course
- 13:06We all know exactly how that how that situation ended
- 13:09But last season was basically his first full season of you know playing
- 13:15Under this new regime with the Packers and whatnot and it actually went very well, right?
- 13:20So let's look into these stats. Okay, because again, we gotta look into these stats because a lot of times the stats in
- 13:28The footage will also paint a picture than what our opinions can do, right?
- 13:34So basically he threw for four thousand one hundred fifty nine yards
- 13:38thirty two touchdowns eleven interceptions
- 13:42he had
- 13:44372 completions out of
- 13:46579 attempts right and he had a 64.2
- 13:52Complacent percentage, okay, you were talking about somebody who
- 13:56Has done a phenomenal job with that Packers offense because that Packers offense has gone through a lot of
- 14:04Not terminal a terminal, but a lot of change, right?
- 14:08David Bakhtiari is gone. You know some of those people from the offensive line is gone
- 14:13You know they got Josh Jacobs. They the receiving core is still fairly young and whatnot
- 14:20so a lot of turn a lot of turnover has occurred with that Packers offense, but
- 14:28This is very promising because Jordan love
- 14:32Continues to show why that pick was you know was actually a great pick because remember when that pick happened
- 14:39Multiple people were saying it was a horrible pick multiple people were saying oh
- 14:44The Packers should have just you know got Aaron Rogers another receiver. Oh, they should have done this
- 14:49They should have done that so many different things right depending on who you listen to and who you
- 14:55You know look at it and whatever right fact of the matter is that pick was a great pick
- 15:02It was they realized that it was time for them to make a transition into fine their next franchise quarterback
- 15:10And at the same time move off of Aaron Rogers in the drama that came with him, right?
- 15:15And you know for the people out there that think that I have beef with Aaron Rogers
- 15:20I don't have beef with Aaron Rogers, but I
- 15:25Hold I hold him to a higher standard because some of the things that he do is
- 15:30Is is a little bit childish just just a little bit just a little bit, right?
- 15:35Because you would think by now technically speaking in my eyes
- 15:39He should have had a second championship that
- 15:42COVID year when they went up against the
- 15:44The the Buccaneers and the NFC championship they should have won it, but guess what he did he choked
- 15:51He choked let's call it for what it is folks. He choked. Okay granted. Yes. He won two more MVP's, but he choked
- 15:57He me while Tom Brady got another championship
- 16:01You only have one and that's mainly because of the defense
- 16:04But again, I'm gonna leave that alone because if I don't gonna open up indoors box
- 16:08I don't want to do that. So back to Jordan Love. Okay. All right. He um
- 16:13Jordan love Jordan loves, you know career so far has definitely been a roller coaster as well because you know, he hasn't had
- 16:22The opportunity to you know play multiple seasons and sort of grow like he he his growth
- 16:29Occurred on the bench, right? His growth occurred when you know
- 16:35When you had your veteran quarterback who basically was playing more out of
- 16:40Anger in spite towards the front office then to basically sort sort of show him like hey
- 16:46This is how you do this. This is how you do that. This is what you look out for in this coverage
- 16:51This is what you look out for and that covers. This is how you, you know beat the teams within your division
- 16:56This is how you prepare yourself, you know for those winter games in Green Bay all those different things, right?
- 17:02and you know the Packers basically are saying like okay
- 17:09Jordan love is the franchise quarterback. We are going to build around him. We believe in him
- 17:14We see, you know something about him that just makes us, you know want to
- 17:19Embrace him and make him, you know the guy right and it shows with the type of deal that he has
- 17:27However, the way that they structured it is really right and we're gonna talk about all of this and more right now
- 17:35Okay, so when you look at it, right his base salary isn't even really that high
- 17:41It's not for the next three years
- 17:44His base salary is between 10 to 11 million dollars, right? The cap hit next year's cap hit
- 17:5229.7 the year after that
- 17:5436.1 million the year after that
- 17:5842.4 million his last year is the year where his cap hit is
- 18:04astronomically high at
- 18:0674.2 million so basically what they sort of did was the way that they structured his deal because I'm looking at it right now
- 18:14They basically configured it in a way
- 18:17To where a lot of his money goes into the signing bonuses, right?
- 18:23Which then sort of
- 18:25Counteracts with the base salary and everything else, but at the same time you're gonna back load it
- 18:32So that basically by the time we get to the back end part of that contract
- 18:37There's either gonna be a restructure. There's either gonna be an extension
- 18:41Something is going to take place, right? Which is good. Which is good because again
- 18:46They that Packers roster is in a really good place technically speaking if they make a few a few more moves
- 18:54They could go and they can be on the same level as the Lions or the 49ers now
- 19:00There are some people that probably saying, you don't know what you're talking about, but I do know what I'm talking about
- 19:05That receiving core great
- 19:07Run game the expectation is supposed to be you know phenomenal, right?
- 19:12Not to mention look at the defense you have John here Alexander Alexander. They brought in Xavier McKinney through free agency
- 19:19They have Kenny Clark. They got Rashawn Gary. They have some pieces now. They got it
- 19:26They have it now the question is
- 19:30What what exactly do they have to do now to take them to that next step and can Jordan love take them to that next step?
- 19:38Right because we'll what whether we want to admit it or not
- 19:43That division has now become very competitive now. You got Kaila Williams. You got Jericho
- 19:50You got Jordan love and now you have JJ McCarthy, which I don't know JJ McCartney's gonna be the starter
- 19:58But that's another story for another day
- 20:01But all of those rosters are all competitive and they're and you know in their own way and so I will not be surprised if you know
- 20:11The the basin came is I don't know why I cannot speak today
- 20:15I would not be surprised if the last you know the last divisional game between all of them
- 20:22Will decide who will be the who will win the division?
- 20:25I will not be surprised because each of their rosters their offenses are you know our high functioning
- 20:32Can definitely put points on the board fast
- 20:35While at the same time they all have a really good run game as well. So it's a lot of moving pieces folks
- 20:42It's a lot of moving pieces. Let's keep let's keep an eye on these situations now
- 20:48But we do have to talk about how does these quarterback contracts? How does these you know current?
- 20:55Deals affect, you know, what's going on with the Cowboys in that Prescott because let's be real here folks
- 21:00This this is starting to look like a really bad breakup
- 21:04It really is and you know
- 21:06You have a deck who is trying to play face and you know basically try to kiss up to the fans and basically say
- 21:13You know, I want to be here. I want to you know
- 21:15Be the quarterback for you guys this and the other all the PR stuff that you're supposed to say
- 21:20But at the same time you have Jerry Jones who is basically sort of tired of
- 21:26Being in this, you know state of being like complacent and not really getting anywhere
- 21:32So he's trying to be like, you know, I really want to move on but I understand that you're my best chance of winning
- 21:38But it's like
- 21:40It's it's it's it's a really bad breakup. It really is and
- 21:44You know, they have a lot of tough decisions that they have to make, you know
- 21:48Respectively for for their own organization as well because you have two players right now
- 21:54Who have already said publicly that they want to reset their markets within their own individual positions, right?
- 22:00Not to mention you already know that Prescott. He's gonna he's gonna crash over that that the 60 million dollar mark
- 22:08You know that I know that we all know that but the question is how is this going to get done?
- 22:13Well, not how but if it can get done at this point because again when we look at, you know
- 22:20Dax market value right according to spot rack shout out to who spot rack
- 22:24He's you know, his market value would be a four-year 220 point three million dollar deal and he will be making
- 22:3255.1 million right and you know that that probably is the going number right now for
- 22:39Four quarterbacks because we look at the regular season. Dax Prescott is really good. He is he the the stats don't lie
- 22:47He is really good. It's just when you get to the off-seat
- 22:50Well, not the off-season, but once you get to you know, the playoffs he just fold and granted
- 22:55You know, that is a lot of that that's a lot of quarterbacks as well
- 22:59But at the same time we have to call a spade a spade here folks
- 23:03And then also, you know that this can sort of open up to somewhat of a bigger conversation itself
- 23:09The Cowboys really don't have a whole lot of leverage because guess what is Jerry is Jerry gonna be willing to
- 23:15Tank to get one of those quarterbacks next year
- 23:18Probably not is he gonna be willing to make a trade for another quarterback that might be, you know available probably not you don't you don't trust trade Lance
- 23:27So, I mean, what other option do you really have at this point?
- 23:32Honestly speaking like like this. Let's really have this conversation
- 23:35Let's really address the elephant in the room here now. I'm not trying to make it seem like oh
- 23:40Cowboys you need Dak Prescott more than what Dak Prescott needs the Cowboys
- 23:45I'm not trying to make it seem like that but Dak Prescott has basically made it seem like well not made it seem like but he has
- 23:52Basically said like listen if I leave I know I'm gonna have a market. I
- 23:57Know I'm gonna have a market whether you want to a minute or not
- 24:00I am going to have a market and you know, I have no problem leaving
- 24:06To you know to a better opportunity. That's basically what it is at this point now
- 24:11The question is is Jerry going to you know, make the decision and
- 24:18Basically pay back one more time or is he gonna go in a different direction and you know surround
- 24:24Surround the you know the team with somebody different. That's the question
- 24:29That's the number one question that I think everybody wants to know at this point because again the quarterback market
- 24:36You know, that's the running number now. It's 50 plus million. That's what it is
- 24:40Now, you know and this could probably transition to you know to the other topic as well at times
- 24:46Do you feel like the quarterback market is starting to get out of hand? Yes?
- 24:50Yes for sure because a lot of the people that are getting paid
- 24:54Their playoff records aren't aren't well some of them probably haven't even made it to the playoffs at all
- 25:00There's only one
- 25:02Other that I could think of right now. That's in that. Well, no
- 25:06There's only two that are in that top five top ten highest paid quarterback threshold
- 25:11That have actually made it to the Super Bowl and both of them lost in the Super Bowl Joe Burrow and Jaylen Hertz
- 25:17Right. So I and I understand that you know
- 25:21Quarterbacks are trying to get their value everybody's trying to get their value everyone's trying to be aggressive and trying to get you know
- 25:26Paid and whatnot not opposed to that at all want players, you know to get paid because you know, you guys play a very physical
- 25:33demanding sport that you know, shaves years off of your lives and you want to be able to be financially
- 25:40compensated and financially stable once you walk away from the game
- 25:44However, we do have to realize that GM's and somewhat some owners are starting to push back on this idea that
- 25:52You know, we have to throw a boatload of money, especially to these quarterbacks, right and it shows like
- 25:58That press card is gonna he's gonna break the bank again. He's gonna rob the bank one more time
- 26:05He got one he got one more robbery, you know
- 26:08He's getting everything ready. He's got the ski mask. He got the bags. He got you know, the plan and everything
- 26:14He he's gonna do it one more time. The question is who's gonna be the sucker to do it
- 26:18That's the real question at this point now if you're the Cowboys, you know, do you let that press card walk?
- 26:26Do you try to figure out a way that you can you know come to some middle ground? I don't know. I don't know personally if it was me
- 26:35I
- 26:36Probably would let Dak walk
- 26:38I would at this point because you haven't gotten anywhere you haven't even made it to an NFC championship
- 26:45What exactly are you paying him for?
- 26:47Are you paying him for just to pay him or are you paying him with the idea that?
- 26:52Hey, there's a chance that he could possibly take us to another place
- 26:55Because whether we want to a minute or not folks
- 26:58They still have to pay CD Lam and CD Lam has already made it be known that he wants to reset the receiver market, right?
- 27:04Then you have Michael Parsons as well
- 27:07Those are two big contracts
- 27:09You can't just have three big contracts and then you know the rest of the roster is basically full of you know
- 27:16people that you
- 27:18Like but you really don't like this like it's like I don't know about this guy
- 27:23I don't know about that guy so I say I like to say this Jerry Jones is just I
- 27:28Think he's at a point where he is just tired of basically running around in the same circle and not getting as far as
- 27:36You know to what the Eagles have gotten or the 49ers, right?
- 27:40He feels like he can be there, but at the same time
- 27:43He's in a situation where I got to pay three my best player
- 27:47I got to pay them top top dollar money and at the same time
- 27:50The rest of the roster isn't even in a good place. So it's like it's damn if you do damn if you don't
- 27:58What do I do with this?
- 27:59Somebody help me, but hey guess what I'm not a GM for them. So hey more power to you now
- 28:05Let's go on with this other bag of Lerner, okay?
- 28:08Because we got to show the offensive linemen love okay because without the offensive linemen a lot of these quarterbacks would not be lasting that long
- 28:16Okay, just saying it just putting out there. Hey me if you want don't care now left tackle for the Alliance Taylor Decker
- 28:24ain't right
- 28:26ain't a three-year
- 28:2860 million dollar extension now you look at that you're probably thinking huh?
- 28:33Hmm not that bad right it really isn't let's let's go a little bit deeper to it, right?
- 28:38So his average salary is only 20 million. That's it. There's only 20 million and his total guarantee is only 31.8 million now
- 28:46Unfortunately, there's no information of you know the money that he gets guaranteed that signing nor the signing bonus
- 28:52But that'll probably come out
- 28:54You know maybe in a few days or not
- 28:56But when you really look at it, you know
- 28:58The the Lions are in a place now where they can you know
- 29:03Resign a lot of their own players which you know it's worked and then not to mention they wasn't as active
- 29:10You know in free agency either so it's like you have that mixed with you know
- 29:15The roster is still in a really good place where it's like okay
- 29:18You can lock up a penace well a man Ross a brown a Jericho and now Taylor Decker in one offseason and not look
- 29:25You know and I look twice about it
- 29:26you can do that because of the place that they're in and you know, they are
- 29:31Prioritizing taking care of their players making sure that everyone is locked up, which is a great thing and you know
- 29:38They can they're still in the running to you know give not only their own division trouble
- 29:45But everyone else in the NFC trouble they are as of right now
- 29:50They are at the gate and they are the gatekeepers that are keeping the 49ers from possibly going back in possibly winning a Super Bowl
- 29:58That is my honest opinion. That is an opinion that I will stand on because when you look at it
- 30:03The lines are in a situation right now
- 30:06Where if they probably make you know one or two two more trades
- 30:11Especially for that defense especially for the secondary right they can be a really dangerous team
- 30:19Especially later into the season. I'm telling you I understand that the 49ers of the 49ers
- 30:24I understand the Eagles are the Eagles. I understand that more power and respect to them
- 30:29But at the same time the Lions are a sleeper and people are going to be sleeping on them
- 30:35Until until it gets later into the season and they just start going on a tear, right?
- 30:41Because again, they have a solid run game
- 30:44Their past game is phenomenal and that defense is it is is ferocious not to mention they got DJ reader as well
- 30:51So you have him in the middle. You got hutch on one side. I forget who the other past wrestler is
- 30:56Who's the other past wrestler? I can't even think so. He's probably somebody great. Anyway moving forward
- 31:02You got Brian Branch. So they have pieces
- 31:05they have a lot of pieces in place and you know, they probably
- 31:10Me personally do I think they probably need to address corner. Yeah, possibly are they going to do that?
- 31:15I don't know. I again crystal ball still charging
- 31:19It's at about
- 31:2185% so that's gonna take me about what two more days before the crystal ball is fully charged
- 31:26But you know when it is I'll let you guys know now moving forward, right? When we look at this deal
- 31:31You're probably thinking you know, it's it's a really small deal. Nothing to really worry about and it is
- 31:37it is something to worry about because that puts pressure on not only the 49ers, but it also puts pressure on
- 31:44The on the bucking years as well. I forgot to add them into the talking points
- 31:48But guess I guess we're gonna be in there now because when we look at it, right?
- 31:53according to spot rack, right the the the top seven
- 31:57highest paid left tackles by average, right Christian Derisaw 26 million
- 32:03Loretta me Tunsel 25 million and you Thomas 23.5 million Trent Williams is currently looking for more money
- 32:1023 million Jordan Milada 22 million Dion Dawkins 20 million and now Taylor Decker 20 million, right?
- 32:17And so that number is going to continue to rise because of how great left tackles have
- 32:24You know how are starting to become especially coming out of college now, right?
- 32:29So you have that mixed with you know, some of the best left tackles are still in the game right now who you know
- 32:36They're still playing at an elite level even as they get older you have that to attack on so
- 32:42You know, it's only a matter of time before Trent Williams
- 32:46Cresces that 30 million dollar mark and I do believe he's going to do it because why he is still the best left tackle in
- 32:54The game right now. I don't care what anyone says
- 32:57Trent Williams is still that guy
- 33:00This is still his yard and you have to get by him. He can still hold his own
- 33:07Against some of the best patch rushers that you could possibly think of and the 49ers realize and they know that if they do not
- 33:16Sign Trent Williams to an extension. They're screwed
- 33:20They're screwed their chances of going to the Super Bowl and possibly holding up a Lombardi
- 33:24It's over if they don't get a deal done with Trent Williams
- 33:27Now me personally do I feel like this this holdout is you know, it's gonna draw into the start of the regular season
- 33:34No, because I feel like they're gonna prioritize getting that deal done a lot quicker
- 33:39compared to Brandon Iewix simply because
- 33:43Trent Williams, it's a little bit more easier to fix. It's not like a whole it's it's a new deal
- 33:50But it's not a new deal. It could basically just be an extension
- 33:53So honestly, you could just tacked on more guaranteed money and you know, everything would would be good compared compared to
- 34:00Brandon Iewix who at one point he's like I want to be here
- 34:04But I don't want to be here, but I like Washington, but I like Pittsburgh, but I like Washington
- 34:09But I like the 49ers, but I like you guys
- 34:11It's just confusing, right?
- 34:13And so, you know, if you're if you're a 49ers fan, this probably has to be the most stressful offseason for you guys
- 34:19Okay, Brandon Iewix is looking for a trade. Trent Williams is now in a holdout
- 34:25You got to pay Brock Purdy next year. You guys are trying to win a Super Bowl
- 34:29You drafted Ricky Pierce on the first round. It's just a whole bunch of hoopla all
- 34:35Around there's nothing you can really do about it
- 34:38Honestly, because whether we want to a minute or not
- 34:4149ers have been trying to mortgage themselves to win a Super Bowl and every single year
- 34:46They come up close and they come up too short and you know, that's another year. That's wasted
- 34:52Now the real question is
- 34:55What how exactly are they going to configure this contract for Trent for Trent Williams? Are they gonna give him a two-year?
- 35:01You know, whatever crazy amount of money that he wants
- 35:04Are they gonna give it a three just to give them a little bit of cushion exactly?
- 35:08How are they going to do it if it was me personally? I'll probably do a three so that way that last year
- 35:14You can you know if he wants to retire if he wants to do anything crazy
- 35:19Guess what you have your out, right?
- 35:21And you would just somewhat front-low the the first two years give him a crazy signing bonus
- 35:27So that his base salary and the cap hit are relatively low because again
- 35:32they still have a lot of big deals and
- 35:34Not to mention if Brock Purdy wins a major award like an MVP or let alone a Super Bowl
- 35:40That's 60 plus million that you're gonna have to give the Brock Purdy. No, no if ends or butts about it, right?
- 35:46And so, you know, and this will probably that was probably the last thing I'll say and then you know that this will be in for the episode
- 35:53The 49ers right now you have to win it all
- 35:58You have to win it all to justify every single move that they have made so far
- 36:03They have to win it all now. I'm not saying they have to you know
- 36:08Go undefeated and then win a Super Bowl not saying any of that
- 36:11But they have to win a Super Bowl to justify every single move they made from going after Christian McCaffrey
- 36:18From going after Trent Williams from getting Javon Hargrave for letting you know
- 36:23Eric Armstead and the fours back before his buckner walk
- 36:27They got to do something because if they don't then guess what they're gonna be making a documentary
- 36:31And you guys are gonna be putting the same situation into those as that that bill squad back in the
- 36:37late 80s and early 90s, but I digress
- 36:41But I will say this before I end the episode before I get into all the things that I need my football junkies to do
- 36:48To any person that is reacting to any of the clips that you guys see on
- 36:53You know on Twitter Instagram wherever you guys see the stuff for your respective teams
- 36:58I want to continue to say this until training camp is over. Please do not over hype it. Do not okay
- 37:04I understand there's a dynamic catch. I understand the quarterback may have not made, you know a certain player whatever
- 37:10Please please please please please do not over react to it. Okay, don't pay it. No mind. Please don't okay?
- 37:17Because yes as fans, you know, we want the the ooze and the odds and whatnot
- 37:22I get all those things but at the same time it's it's training camp. It's practice
- 37:28It's practice. So of course there's gonna be some hiccups
- 37:31Of course, you know a quarterback may not, you know, make the right throw or they might have a bad day at practice
- 37:38Or whatnot that doesn't mean that they're gonna be a bad player. Okay
- 37:42That's all I gotta say about that because I've seen a lot of people on Twitter that are just going crazy
- 37:47Oh my god, this person gotta go. Oh my god. We gotta train and get rid of them. There's any others. It's like bro
- 37:53Relax relax your nerves. It's just practice AI said it best. We're talking about practice
- 38:01Not again
- 38:03Not again, but we're talking about practice, right now
