- 1:42Adventures of the Saints starring Vincent Price. The Saint based on characters created by
- 1:59Let's I'm known to millions from books, magazines and motion pictures. The robin
- 2:04Hood of Modern Crime now comes transcribe to radio, starring Hollywood's brilliant and talented
- 2:08actor Vincent Price as the saint. Thank you. Come in, mister Templar.
- 2:34Oh what and how are you sit down? I haven't seen you for
- 2:38a long time. I do my best to keep out of jail, and
- 2:42you do your best to get a lot of people in. What can I
- 2:45do for you? And I wanted permission to see one of your prisoners is
- 2:49Tommy Patrick. Can't be done even for you. Patrick's in the prison hospital,
- 2:53no visitors allowed there. I see you know Tommy, he did some
- 2:59work for me years ago, Warden, That's all. I didn't even know
- 3:01he was here in prison until I got his letter letter. I wonder how
- 3:06I got a letter out of here. I don't know. He couldn't very
- 3:07well have put it in the mailbox at the corner. Mind if I take
- 3:10a look at it. Oh, of course not it is, dear mister
- 3:17Templar. Maybe I got no right to ask your help, but I need
- 3:21it bad. They're trying to kill me. But I don't know why.
- 3:24I'll meet Patchack. H You know, I've got a hunch Timmy's telling the
- 3:30truth? Am I right? Warden? Yes you are. Patchack's been here
- 3:34three years. You do out next spring? Three years? There have been
- 3:37five attempts on his life by other prisoners. The leadist at a day or
- 3:40so ago. Was he hurt seriously? Knife? But not seriously? We
- 3:45don't know who did it, and Patchack's too scared to tell. Most likely
- 3:47we'll never know. Wouldn't haven't you any way of protecting this man? Protect
- 3:52him? Look, Templar, this prison was built for twelve hundred men.
- 3:57I've got four thousand. The guards are overworked and paid, the food's bad,
- 4:00there's no recreation facility. And every year society sends me a thousand more
- 4:04men and says, keep them in your crowded cage for a few years and
- 4:08send them back. Good citizens, protect Patcheck? Why I can't even wait?
- 4:13What's that? It's been a break? Hello? Heaven? Where is
- 4:16it? How many I see? Be right over? What is it?
- 4:21Wharton? Your friend Patchack, Templar, he couldn't wait for you? Is
- 4:26gone? Read all about the prison break? Patcheck, still at LIVEE Read
- 4:40all that taxi a taxi, Good afternoon, Louie, afternoon, mister Templar.
- 4:47Ain't it a heavenly days? It is? Mister Templar, Three twelve
- 4:53Main Street, Louis gotcha? Read about that prison break? Last name was
- 5:00the templar. Say this Patrick rolled out in the lottery run You think they'll
- 5:03catch him? No sooner, Lady Louis, they always do, you know,
- 5:08shothing. I kind of hope they don't. In my in my sub
- 5:11unconscious that is. Oh why is that, mister Temple. In the universe
- 5:15of guilt feeling, Louis, whenever there's a man in hiding, that man
- 5:17might be you or me. Yeah, fruit, huh, Louis, it's
- 5:21freud, That's what I said, sick fraud. You don't shopping more,
- 5:27mister Temple. I kind of felt this way when that letfot escaped last spring.
- 5:30Remember then he comes back to his cage all by himself. Was kind
- 5:33of said, I'm allegory, Louis, No, no, no, it
- 5:35was a lat foot. You think Patrick will come back to the cage,
- 5:40mister Temple, And I'm afraid that for him there is no hiding place.
- 5:43Hey, isn't this main street? Louis? Oh yeah, sure, you
- 5:49three twelve anybody we know. I got a tip that Tommy Patrick used to
- 5:54live here. Perhaps if I can help him, then you and I won't
- 5:57feel they're guilty. Wait for me, Louis, I'm sure I'll be dying.
- 6:01What's the matter. I've been to this house before. You got friends
- 6:05in the strangest places. Yeah, as I remember, the landlady was one
- 6:09of the most charming, cultivated damsels I ever had the pleasure of meeting.
- 6:15Some guys got all the luck. You're sure you don't want me to come
- 6:17with you? No, thanks, Louis. I want her all to myself.
- 6:31Yeah, very wrong, dear heart and gentle person. Don't you remember
- 6:35me so good? Well, I'm a friend of Tommy Patcheck. Oh you
- 6:41are I know who I am, Shirley Temple. You're a cop, that's
- 6:45what. Cops have been thicker than flyers around here last night and today bowl
- 6:49to fly for here. That's pretty thick. I run a respectable room in
- 6:54house, and every time a cop comes to the front door, five more
- 6:57rumors go out the back. They're flying for business and the bubonic plague.
- 7:01Hey cops, what do you want? Cop? I'm not a policeman.
- 7:05Really, I'm trying to help Tommy if I can. If you know anything,
- 7:09I got a very poor memory. Well, now here what a treasury
- 7:14note? Refreshed it in it? I got a memory like an Ellison,
- 7:16come on in. Thank you Now about Tommy Patrick, Well, so you
- 7:24sure you're not a cop? Quite sure? Well? I ain't looking for
- 7:28Tommy to come here. But he's got a sister, Nancy. I didn't
- 7:32know that the cops known either. They were raised separate, and Tommy didn't
- 7:35want to brought into his trouble. Any idea where I could find her?
- 7:40I got a very poor memory. Here we are, thanks, swear to
- 7:45the Voodoo Room, Cigarette Room, Voodoo Room. That's Charlie Ferrelli's place.
- 7:48Isn't he say you positive you're not a cop? Madam? I might as
- 7:55well confess I am a personal emissary of j Edgar Hoover. Yeah, that's
- 8:01good enough for me, finest president we ever had. Thank you, and
- 8:05goodbye. Barbara Fritchell bartender. Who do you think you're talking to you?
- 8:18While you're standing behind the bar? I presumed you were the bartend. Well
- 8:22I'm not Joe Is I'm a big shut around here? Oh, I beg
- 8:26your pardon. I wait for Joe the small show. You'll have a long
- 8:28wait. He went out to get a drink, which means he won't be
- 8:31back for several drinks. Well, it be scotch over ice, please,
- 8:39yeah, thank you, Yeah, Nancy around, Nancy around? Who wants
- 8:46to know? A guy wears a neck time, drinks scotch and the eftanoone
- 8:48thinks all the girl should fall down, dying dead when he waves his little
- 8:52thing. Look. All I asked was is Nancy man drinks scotch and the
- 8:56after noon thinks she's gotta write this real big up ready here, drinks scotch
- 9:01and please you talk too much and you don't say anything. Just go polish
- 9:05your glasses. Okay, okay, real big pin stripe, white shoite,
- 9:11dick tied type up. Well. I was down at the state prison last
- 9:18night. I had a letter from a man who wanted to see me.
- 9:22They couldn't wait. Ye, I'm signing temper. I used to know your
- 9:28brother. What do you want? I want to help if I can the
- 9:31SAT, don't you? Yes? I remember tom To talked about you could
- 9:35come to my place later. I live at the Sheldon. It's the back
- 9:37apartment on the second floor eleven. I'll take off early to night. I'll
- 9:41be there. Nancy, do you think there's any chance Tommy might come?
- 9:43I don't excuse me, but I've got a message to deliver Mac. Well,
- 9:48what is it, Jack, Mister just said that he wants to see
- 9:52you in his office. Keep out of this. Frank Farrelli doesn't even know
- 9:56he's here. I said that mister Farrell wants to see he missed the man
- 10:01of distinction here, and if I have to persuade him, then I'll persuade
- 10:03him. I stopped flecting your muscles. Frank, you need your strength for
- 10:07the cocktail hour. I said that, mister FERRELLI wants to see you,
- 10:13but an not attractive gun. It matches your face. Lead on, Jack,
- 10:18Now you'll lead. I'll be right behind you, just to make sure
- 10:20that you get you stay here, and so the deal is gonna scotch in
- 10:28the afternoon. Thinks right away all the girls should pull down dying dead.
- 10:33When guy to see him, mister, he was bash. So I brought
- 10:37up. Oh, come in, come in, mister Diamond Temple. Welcome
- 10:41to the Voodoo Room, mister Temple, let us see more. Rob you
- 10:46go, thank you. That's our own brand. And the viol of perfume
- 10:50for the lady of your choice from the Voodoo Room. That's a little trick
- 10:54I picked up from Shervin Billing's wall. Thank you? And where did you
- 10:58pick up this little trick? Mister right? Yeah, he's rather fast conscious,
- 11:03but a hard worker. I was asking about Tommy Patchick, mister Farrell,
- 11:05I hide him. Indeed, Well, you're a friend of Tommy's,
- 11:09mister Temple, possibly possible, and you might possibly be in touch with him
- 11:15soon. I couldn't say. You couldn't say, but you could tell us
- 11:20the basis of your interest in Tommy. I could, but I see no
- 11:22reason to. You see no reason to, mister Templar. Showing interest in
- 11:26other people's affairs is not always healthy, and some people know this instinctively,
- 11:31and others have to be taught teaching. Frank. Sure, not such a
- 11:39big upright now, that's not Frank. I'm not the back way, okay,
- 11:45mister. Hey, mister Ferrell, I think I broke the butler poipe
- 11:48me game something crack. Well, let's look on the right side. Rank
- 11:54might have been, yeah, yeah, say something right, freaking sketch and
- 11:58the afternoon or whatever? Nicktime Louis. Hey, hey, mister Temple,
- 12:18what happened here? Wait? I'll help you to the kids. Oh gee,
- 12:24what happened mister Templar, you look horrible. You should smell pretty,
- 12:28but it's a doubtful consolation. Eh, Hey, tangled with the mister Charlie
- 12:33Farelli. Yeah, how does he look? Not as scratch? That's really
- 12:39as bad, Madison. Stay away from mister Temple unless you know about his
- 12:41business. The better maybe. But after you take me home for repairs,
- 12:46you can take me to the Morgue. I hope and trust a round trip
- 12:50the newspaper. Mort Paul, I'm gonna do some checking on Frelli. I
- 12:54begin to detect quite an odor about this whole business, so I hardly trust
- 13:01myself in the same camp with you. You got to miss the template,
- 13:03you said, so you're detecting order, So I said, oh, yes,
- 13:22hello, Well, Simon Templar, the robin Hood of modern crime.
- 13:26How are things in Sherwood Forest? Everybody's getting ready for television? Come on
- 13:31in, come on in, sit down, and let's chew the fact you
- 13:35know anything bad about anybody? Yes, that's why I'm here. I wonder
- 13:37if I could look at your fire fan, Charlie Forever. Oh, no,
- 13:41need to get dusty. I'll tell you what you want to know.
- 13:43RELLI came with this country around twenty five years ago, probably from Sicily nobody
- 13:46knows for sure made big doing prohibition days liquor what a nightclub might be leveling
- 13:52now and might not big connections on the world and otherwise. Police never pinned
- 13:56anything. I don't know if you ask me, they never will. It's
- 13:58a class operator. Thanks Sam. How's your memory on Tommy patcheck? Oh?
- 14:01I had to pull a file on him today after his break last night.
- 14:05Yeah. Sent up three years ago for a tempted robbery. He and
- 14:07his buddy tried to hold up a liquor store. His partner was killed Nick
- 14:11Panteller, Yeah, pan Tell I think that was his name. Tommy was
- 14:15shot, they recovered. He claimed it was a frame and why would anyone
- 14:18want to frame him? He didn't know. I guess that's why nobody believed
- 14:22him. I see well, Thanks Sam. Oh anytime sat, that's an
- 14:26interesting egg on your foot you walk into a dog. No, someone slugged
- 14:31me? Oh, now, why would anybody want to slug you? I
- 14:35don't know. I guess that's why nobody believed me. Yeah, Well,
- 14:39stuff happened. Stuff happened. Good night, man, Simon Temple and Aunty.
- 15:03Is anybody watching that. I'm not sure you should see the rest of
- 15:09me. Well, I mean, what happened chat beat me up some But
- 15:13I'm the durable type, pre war construction. He's always hanging around with the
- 15:18own Katie because I'm afraid of him too. What about I don't know you.
- 15:26I get the feeling he's watching me all the time. I almost feel
- 15:30sometimes like that's why he's hired me, so he can watch me. Does
- 15:33he know Tommy Patrick's your brother? I don't nobody knows everything. Maybe he
- 15:37does. Tommy's done? Why Why is somebody trying to have him killed?
- 15:43What he's done is a shoulder to cry on. I'm not the client type.
- 15:50He's just knowing that kid's out there somewhere cold and scared it alone.
- 15:54Well maybe he won't be alone if we can reach him, or if he
- 15:58can reach us. Does he know where you live? But how can you
- 16:03get burned out? Hey, you're quite an accomplished man, frank you ten
- 16:12bar beat up the customers listening at keyholes? What else do you do?
- 16:17I take guys, I find in my girl's room and I throw him downstairs.
- 16:22Did you forget your blackjack? Frankie might need it big? Lady killing
- 16:26up later? All right, Well, come on, let's see how you're
- 16:29bound. I stand still. This is for the egg on my head,
- 16:34Frankie, And this is just because I don't like you. I hope your
- 16:47neighbors don't object it. Noisy parties, Nancy. No, I'm not hurt,
- 16:53but I don't think I'll have Frankie makes me any more? Drinks pretty
- 17:00terrific? Was I? Well? No? Why do you know? Best?
- 17:03Good night? Nancy? Oh no, indeed, Frankie might be back.
- 17:07I'll sit up and you take the bedroom. Now, get some red?
- 17:11Did you sleep it all last time? No? Keep waiting for Tom.
- 17:15Get some rest. I'll stretch out on the couch if Tommy comes.
- 17:18All awaken you all right, Nancy. If I'm going to spend the night
- 17:26on your couch, you'd better call me. Simon. Nancy. Yes,
- 17:41Simon m R. I smell coffee and bacon. You do, Nancy.
- 17:49Men have married for such an aroma, did you? Yeah? I did?
- 17:56Finally, Simon, I wonder I say pitch Tom. No they didn't.
- 18:00I went out this morning around six and bought a paper. Here.
- 18:06Please, no trap around that, you escape band. It's still at large.
- 18:11Simon sure, brother, sound the fire escape, Tommy, come on
- 18:22out, Let me help you. Tommy, there you go. Come on,
- 18:30I take it easy, Come on that, don't talk. I'll get
- 18:36your breakfast and then put you to bed. Right, did anyone see you
- 18:40come in? I know I had a breakout. Say hey, JOm me,
- 18:48I know, I know. Now pull yourself together. I haven't got
- 18:51much time. Who's trying to kid you? Really? Why? Why?
- 18:59I don't know, I don't know what. You must let him alone.
- 19:03I can't Frank FORRELLI, the police, some of them are, all of
- 19:07them will be here at any minute. Oh tell me, But we've got
- 19:14to find out why. Tommy, Nancy Hannington coffee all. Now. You
- 19:26say Elly is trying to have you killed. That means you know something or
- 19:29he thinks you do what he did. I don't know. I don't know
- 19:34which I think. I've been trying to figure it out for three years.
- 19:37Please let him alone. I can't you say the hold up was a frame,
- 19:41right. We didn't even have guns. Nick and I just went in
- 19:45for some beer and the owner started shooting at us. He got Nick and
- 19:49let to get me too, and I came to there was a gun playing
- 19:52honey, well on Nick too? Did Nick know for Elli? O?
- 19:59Can I rest for a one? No, You've got the answer me.
- 20:02Yeah, yeah, I think you know him in sicily But I never said
- 20:07he was lazy. But he was a good guy. He didn't work.
- 20:11But how did he get along? Why I got the idea for Ally?
- 20:14Gave him money? I don't know why you were his friend? Yeah?
- 20:18We live in the same room and house on thirty. I know where it
- 20:22is. You know, I was there yesterday and met your charming landlady.
- 20:25Did Nick ever tell you anything about Frellie? About anything at all? Look?
- 20:32Would you rather see him exhausted or dead? Tell me, Tommy,
- 20:36did Nick ever tell you anything about Frelly? Yesh? Just no? One
- 20:42just anything ever happened to him? So Nick, I was the looker?
- 20:49Did you no? No, you couldn't. You were shot and rare rounded
- 20:52into prison. What happened to Nick's things? Do you know? I were
- 20:57sold? Yes? He kept everything you had in an old trunk trunk Any
- 21:03chance it might still be at the rooming house? Maybe, Temmy, Look,
- 21:08is there any way we can get into that house without being seen that
- 21:11police are watching me? I don't know. Oh, you've got to know.
- 21:17Yeah, yeah, yeah, I do. Yeah. To the backyard
- 21:22next door and to the garage. Come on, Nanty, we're taking him
- 21:25out of here. We'll move him if we have to carry him. If
- 21:29we leave him here for Ellie, we'll kill him. Come on, if
- 21:33that trunk is still there, we've got a chance, Louis, listen very
- 21:44carefully. Go ahead, mister tem Are you feeling particularly reckless today? How
- 21:49would you like to take somebody for a ride? Well, mister Temple,
- 21:55they nothing I wouldn't do for you, know that, But but take somebody
- 21:57forever. My wife wouldn't like you haven't got a wife, yeah, but
- 22:00if I had one, she wouldn't like it. No, honest, mister
- 22:03Temple. I never bumped off nobody in my whole life. I know that,
- 22:07and I wouldn't expect you to start now. I just want you to
- 22:08take somebody for a ride in your cab. Oh. Oh, that somebody
- 22:12is somebody the police want. I don't want them to find him just yet,
- 22:17gotcha. Look, don't hit any bumps. He's in pretty bad conditions.
- 22:19I'll worry, mister Temple. He'll think he's no baby. Bucky,
- 22:22Louis, I like you. Oh aster Temple, I bet you say that.
- 22:27All the cab drivers and right behind this door, what are you doing
- 22:44sneaking in the back way. This is a respectable room in house, or
- 22:48it would be if I had respectable rumors. Look, mother, I haven't
- 22:52much time. Do you remember Nick Pantel? Sure there was shot three years
- 22:57ago? Dead? Now? Yes, I know. Did he leave a
- 23:00trunk here? Got a very bad memory? Then I sold the trunk,
- 23:07used to stuff in it. I had a perfect right. He didn't give
- 23:11me my two weeks notice before leaving. Is the trunk still here? Now?
- 23:15I'm the seller door here? Thank you? That's okay. Oh,
- 23:18I'll mention it to anybody. I won't even mention the Tommy Patrick's sisters standing
- 23:25right in my hall behind the door. First, the cops would be kind
- 23:29of interested because they're looking for a brother just to He's got a perfect right
- 23:33to call the police if you want to not me. I hate cops first,
- 23:37if they was to ask me. I got such a good memory here.
- 23:42Thanks going back on me again, Wait a minute, any till I
- 23:57get the light of it. You see, I think so there's only one
- 24:03trunk here, looks like Frelli covered this angle years ago. Huh. The
- 24:07lining's ripped up, so it's the bottom perhaps, but perhaps Nick Pantel read
- 24:14pose the purloined letter you see this way there on the trunk. I'm going
- 24:18to see if it comes off that true that the best hiding place is sometimes
- 24:22the most obvious. There's a newspaper clipping on the other side. He's an
- 24:29Italian. No, but I'll find someone who can. And when I hello,
- 24:34Frelly, H'm mike Hi. I'll take that clipping. Keeping trouble with
- 24:38Frank. Thank you. What are you proposed to do now? What do
- 24:44I propose to do now? What would you do? Nothing? You're licked,
- 24:48Frelli. You can destroy that clipping, but I can guess what it
- 24:51says. You committed a crime in Sicily years ago and had to flee the
- 24:53country. Probably you killed a man. Nick Pantel knew it and was blackmailing
- 24:59you. You had him killed, and you tried to have Tommy killed at
- 25:03the same time, just because he might know, just because he might know.
- 25:07And if I committed this crime, mister Templar, why didn't they extracise
- 25:11me? Because Mussolini was making the trains run on time and accepting bribes whenever
- 25:15they came along. Since then, you haven't been too sure. For Ellie.
- 25:18Everything is to say, on mister Temple, who got the money?
- 25:22Where's Tommy? And I said, she doesn't know? Frank? Do you?
- 25:26I think I'll just let you brood about that one. What do you
- 25:30think we should do, Frank? Well, it looks like him or you,
- 25:34mister f How about the girl, Frank, I don't know her,
- 25:38Frank. You heard what he said kid? Well, Frank, No,
- 25:42it won't work for Elly, it won't work well. Difference of opinion is
- 25:45what makes horse races. They get back. You top the gun the floor
- 25:51already his tops all over the house and outside? Who called him? I
- 25:56did, mother, and you hated cot I did, but I remembered there
- 26:00was a reward out for Tommy, and I figured Manson knew where he was.
- 26:06Hurted me to go back on my principles. I forced myself. What
- 26:11we do was mister FRELLI is a sentable man, Frank. He'll go back
- 26:15to the old country. That's better than facing a murder rap here, isn't
- 26:18it. Yes, there's much better. Put up the gun, Frank,
- 26:21will not before right give me that, Frankie, give me that before I
- 26:26break your martini arm. There, very impetuous young man, frank We might
- 26:33accuse him, yeah, but he didn't. Shall we go for Ellie,
- 26:36Yes, we'll go, But there's only a question of time for me,
- 26:38mister Templer. I'll be back in any sensible society. Money can buy anything.
- 26:44And when we returned to was shall I say sensible basis, I'll be
- 26:48back, and if you come back, I won't be here. No.
- 26:52In the meantime, I'll read up on Paul. He might have saved me
- 26:56a lot of trouble. And Tommy Patchack in a full pardon, mister Temple.
- 27:10Guy, that's Tommy deserved a few good breaks. Louis. Yeah,
- 27:14it just two things about the case of bothering, mister Templar. You think
- 27:18a guy like Farelli could ever come back to this country, like you said,
- 27:22he'll be trying, Louis, throw it up for you and me.
- 27:26Yeah. Yeah. And what's the other thing. Well, you know that
- 27:30day you had me drive Tommy Patrick all over town this cab when the cops
- 27:33was looking for him. Yeah, Well, all he talked about was his
- 27:36sister, What a wonderful girl she was, and how pretty. Yes,
- 27:41well, he was saying how hard she worked all her life, now regular
- 27:45she was, and how pretty? Yeah, And I just wondered, that's
- 27:48all you know if a girl was that too pretty, Louis. The Voodoo
- 27:53Club is under new management, new owner, new bartender, but the fame
- 27:57figure out girl. Yeah, let's drive over there. You seem to be
- 28:02out of cigarette. You've been listening to another transcribed adventure of the Saint,
- 28:18the robin Hood of Modern Crime. Now Here is our starve and some Price

- 28:37then Some Price, inviting you to join us again next week at the same
- 28:40time for another exciting adventure of the Saint good Night. The last script of

- 29:02Leslie Charters, is a James L. Safier production and is directed by Helen
- 29:06mack Vincent. Price is now starring in The Winslow Boy at the Las Palmas

- 29:29on the Air presents another outstanding drama, Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde starring Frederick
- 29:33Marsh and Barbara Belghetti. So remember visits The Big Show today on NBC.
- 29:45Welcome back, always great here. Sheldon Leonard doesn't make a ton of radio
- 29:52appearances, but was very popular in film and Talivision. It appeared in The
- 29:59Damon Run the which isn't surprising. The main things when I hear him on
- 30:03radio tend to be more comedy features where he'll play urban characters or gangsters Like
- 30:11I hurt him a lot as a gangster. It's surprising to hear him playing
- 30:15a reporter an episode of Bold Venture. He was a great TV producer in
- 30:21his later career, Make Room for Daddy, and of course the big one,
- 30:26The Andy Griffith Show. All right, well, now we turn out
- 30:30to some listener comments and feedback, and we have quite a few. Garland
- 30:33writes in, I love your podcast. Favorites are the Saints, Sam Spade
- 30:38and Nick Carter. Thank you for your work, buddy, Oh thanks so
- 30:42much. Lee writes in, dear mister Graham, loved the show. Your
- 30:48passion for it is obvious, and I feel lucky for having found the program.
- 30:52Many blessings, Thanks so much. Sherry then says, Hi, I
- 30:56play the shows during my daily walks. I walk longer and enjoy the detective
- 31:03theater of the mine and I found that as well. I take one good
- 31:10long walk a week. I'm not walking as much as I did back when
- 31:12I was training for the four half marathons I did last year, but it
- 31:19definitely makes the walk go quicker. And it was actually I was listening to
- 31:26audio drama all the time on my walks during my training last year. In
- 31:33fact, the vast majority of episodes of the War that I did after March
- 31:40I listened to them during my walk because that had been one thing I was
- 31:44wondering when I decided I was going to do the half marathon, because at
- 31:48the same time I was also doing the World War two podcast, which of
- 31:53course takes even more of your time. But combining the two that worked,
- 31:59and then once that was done, included old time rating on a course some
- 32:04of the big finish stories as well. Thanks so much for your donation and
- 32:08comments. Fan, and then also have a comment from Michael who says I'm
- 32:16a longtime listener and first time contributor. I love your podcast and listen faithfully.
- 32:22The audio quality is the best, and your informational blurb at the end
- 32:25is always interesting. Keep up the good work. Lately, I've had some
- 32:30problems downloading episodes last Saturday's Dragnet Big Girl. When I tried to listen to
- 32:36it, I got a message that the episode was not available. This also
- 32:39happened for a couple of TV of Video episodes, mister Wong, same message
- 32:45on two of the three that are available. Well, thanks so much for
- 32:51the donation. Regarding the problems kind of separate. The Dragnet thing was just
- 32:58kind of crosswire, and apologize to anybody who had a problem with that.
- 33:02The video theater happened sometime last year. The company that was hosting the video
- 33:12theater programs pulled them abruptly. No copyright violation or anything quite the opposite.
- 33:20There was just no original content and that company decided they only wanted videos with
- 33:25original content. And so we have to get all of those hosted on this
- 33:30side. And it's been one of those items on my to do list that
- 33:34is kind of falling behind. I'm going to work on that and i'll keep
- 33:39you updated. The first few video theaters as well as The Fat Man are
- 33:44available, plus the most recent video theater episodes are available. So I apologize
- 33:50with the inconvenience on that and thanks for letting me know, and we'll keep
- 33:54working on it. Finally, we have a really fascinating comment from Tim regarding
- 34:00episode fifteen oh nine, Miss Godby's School for Girls, and he says there
- 34:07were a few references to nineteen fifties current pop psychology in the episode. What's
- 34:15the girl's equivalent to the Oedipus or Oedipus complex, the lieutenant asked the Saint.
- 34:22The answer not given in the dialogue is the electric complex after Electrica,
- 34:27the character in Greek drama who brought down the House of Atreus to avenge her
- 34:32father. The more surprising reference was from the roommate, who knew all the
- 34:37latest trends in psychology. She dismissed a Freudian analysis as old hat, saying
- 34:44she followed dianetics. The name she so breezily dropped is now better known as
- 34:50scientology, and today has taken over a considerable portion of the Hollywood community.
- 34:54I don't know if the writers had an active interest in it, or if
- 34:59they were just ma mentioning the latest trends to sound up to date. The
- 35:01film The Master from a few years back recounts the same historical point in time
- 35:08as this Saint episode portrays. Well, thanks so much for the comment.
- 35:14I would tend to think that they were just trying to sound up to date.
- 35:20If you're trying to promote something, generally, the credibility of the character
- 35:24you choose is going to be important, and this particular character wasn't one we
- 35:30would really have a whole lot of reason to take seriously. Other comments regarding
- 35:35episode fifteen oh nine, Bobby Lee says the Saint is starting to grow on
- 35:44me, and Gypsy says, I love, I so love Vincent Price indeed
- 35:52it was such a great actor, so nice to have him in this series,
- 35:57which is a little bit different from what he's best known for outside of
- 36:01radio. And then Brian comments regarding episode fifteen or via fifteen oh nine about
- 36:08fifteen oh three It's no Use. I love last week's episode of the Same
- 36:14Saint. I could swear I saw it as a movie. The plot of
- 36:19It's No Use could be a very good mystery comedy. If anyone is aware
- 36:24of a movie similar to that, I let us know. All right,
- 36:29Well, that will bring today's episode to a conclusion. We will be back
- 36:34tomorrow with crime and Peter Chambers, and then next Monday join us for another
- 36:38episode of The Saint. In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen
