- 0:08Speaker 1: So this episode is an exclusive for members of the
- 0:12Speaker 1: Meltdown Horror Club. And I have to say, we had
- 0:14Speaker 1: a lot of fun talking about this specific horror movie pick.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Seriously, it was a lot of fun.
- 0:20Speaker 1: In fact, many of my favorite episodes in recent years
- 0:23Speaker 1: have been Horror Club episodes. But that doesn't mean that
- 0:27Speaker 1: you were left out, because all you have to do
- 0:29Speaker 1: is go to MovieMeltdown.com and click on the Horror Club
- 0:32Speaker 1: link right there on the right-hand side of the page.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And then you can join the club.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Then you get to be a club member, you get
- 0:38Speaker 1: to be involved in what we've got in the works,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and you get exclusive episodes where we say awesome things
- 0:44Speaker 1: like this.
- 0:47Speaker 3: He's cute. I mean, he doesn't get a whole lot
- 0:49Speaker 3: to do in the It movies other than.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I was starting to say, he doesn't get a lot
- 0:51Speaker 4: to do as Georgie. Every other kid has tons to do.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Georgie, not so much.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's cool that he has kind of a
- 0:58Speaker 3: main role in this. He got his due.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it goes weirder places that The horse remains involved, though,
- 1:06Speaker 4: throughout the movie. If you like horses, there's also an
- 1:10Speaker 4: occasional horse that shows up.
- 1:13Speaker 5: I have noticed as an adult, air quotes, watching it,
- 1:19Speaker 5: there's strange little nuances that make the show even stranger
- 1:24Speaker 5: than what it was. Like there's one, for example, they're
- 1:28Speaker 5: all sitting around the house, the phone rings, the teenage
- 1:30Speaker 5: daughter picks it up, and she's like, oh, hello. And
- 1:33Speaker 5: she starts talking all flirty, like, oh, not doing much. And,
- 1:36Speaker 5: you know, just going on like, oh, teenage girl talking
- 1:38Speaker 5: to a teenage boy. And then all of a sudden
- 1:40Speaker 5: she's like, dad, it's for you. And hands the phone
- 1:43Speaker 5: to her dad. It's her dad's boss that was on
- 1:46Speaker 5: the other end of the phone. So there were other
- 1:50Speaker 5: things too, but that was the one that stands out
- 1:52Speaker 5: right now.
- 1:53Speaker 4: Interesting.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I was like, there's a deeper level to this that
- 1:56Speaker 5: I don't think I ever picked up on before.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Weird.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Like, I did laugh when she busted it out at
- 2:05Speaker 6: the party and the girl's like, somebody's been shopping at
- 2:07Speaker 6: Urban Outfitters.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And I was like, okay, that was actually good.
- 2:12Speaker 3: And then there was probably an Are You Afraid of
- 2:14Speaker 3: the Dark episode. Or like Goosebumps or something like that.
- 2:16Speaker 2: This seemed like a really long episode of Goosebumps. Not
- 2:18Speaker 2: as good as Goosebumps.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Something like that, surely.
- 2:24Speaker 4: First of all, is every episode of Are You Afraid
- 2:26Speaker 4: of the Dark centered around here's a kid talking to
- 2:29Speaker 4: some creepy adult that they really probably shouldn't be.
- 2:32Speaker 3: A lot of them.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Because I remember in your stories, I was like, why
- 2:35Speaker 6: are these kids just hanging, hanging around with weird older people?
- 2:37Speaker 5: They all have part-time jobs working for old German people.
- 2:41Speaker 2: This, this kid like gets his picture taken at school.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Who is like, creepy looking guy that would run.
- 2:48Speaker 7: A photography studio is he german no he's just like
- 2:51Speaker 7: a weird like middle-aged dorky white guy that needs a
- 2:54Speaker 7: shave and like he just looks like he would be
- 2:57Speaker 7: preying on these children essentially but like he goes by
- 3:00Speaker 7: himself to his photo studio oh no.
- 3:03Speaker 6: Yeah does that not red flags all over the place and.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I'm just like this is twisted so yes the idea
- 3:13Speaker 2: is already out there and darker on the kids version.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Really so it gets yeah I guess I won't spoil
- 3:20Speaker 4: everything for you because it gets even weirder at the
- 3:22Speaker 4: end and there's an end and then sort of a
- 3:24Speaker 4: false end and I don't know it's are you afraid
- 3:27Speaker 4: of the dark.
- 3:29Speaker 3: There's a lot of homicidal kids on that show.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Yeah I expected his death to somehow tie into all
- 3:37Speaker 5: this yeah who hit.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Him I don't know And even the sheriff being like,
- 3:41Speaker 3: because the sheriff even mentions like, oh yeah, I knew
- 3:43Speaker 3: your dad. So I was like, well that's.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Gonna, nope.
- 3:47Speaker 5: He tells her, you're a brave little girl.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Why? What happened that night? Flashback story at least?
- 3:54Speaker 4: Something? Versus taking screws out of a grate and crawling
- 4:00Speaker 4: in through a hole?
- 4:01Speaker 2: That was just weird.
- 4:05Speaker 3: That made me so mad.
- 4:07Speaker 4: That's so stupid. dawn so now i'm like okay we're
- 4:14Speaker 4: assuming all right because she even says oh this must
- 4:16Speaker 4: be right before she died right before she died.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Okay i'll give him a point for that there.
- 4:21Speaker 6: Was yes i mean well i mean almost more frustrating
- 4:24Speaker 6: because they did work it in so that it would
- 4:26Speaker 6: have made sense to come back to that.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Point and they don't ever touch it.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Shouldn't one of the two of you be pissed about
- 4:34Speaker 6: that i don't know which but somebody in this scenario
- 4:38Speaker 6: needs to be creeped out by it because i.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Am I strained my eyes watching this movie.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah, because every scene is in the fucking dark.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Because it's so much dark.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Like, I actually spent probably 20 minutes.
- 4:49Speaker 5: Adjusting the picture on my TV. Because I'm like, I
- 4:54Speaker 5: know this is supposed to be dark, but it can't.
- 4:56Speaker 2: You're turning lights on in the room. Is this helping? No, damn.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I just watched it on my laptop. And then was
- 5:03Speaker 3: holding an inch away from my face. Because I was like, what?
- 5:05Speaker 2: That's bad for your eyes. What's happening? Well, I was like,
- 5:08Speaker 2: surely it's not meant to be this dark. And then
- 5:10Speaker 2: later I watched something else.
- 5:11Speaker 5: And I was like, oh, God.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I can hear the brightness. I'm out of here.
- 5:16Speaker 5: I don't know what a burning... I should know what
- 5:19Speaker 5: a burning Polaroid smells like, but I don't.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Surprisingly.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Given my experience with photography and fire. But if you
- 5:30Speaker 5: lit anything on fire in a crowded school cafeteria, people
- 5:33Speaker 5: are going to notice. Let alone if a girl is
- 5:36Speaker 5: on fire in a crowded cafeteria.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Someone throw some water on that. Everyone just stands around like, ah, ah.
- 5:43Speaker 5: And then two girls ultimately were on fire in that scene.
- 5:46Speaker 3: They were just like, this is kind of weird.
- 5:50Speaker 5: She was walking those kids around the house with a
- 5:53Speaker 5: kerosene lamp.
- 5:55Speaker 2: It's another one of those moments. I was like, why
- 5:58Speaker 2: is it so dark?
- 6:00Speaker 5: But there's electric lights in every single room of that house.
- 6:03Speaker 6: She turns on the light switch while carrying the kerosene lamp.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It doesn't make any sense. That's not how that works.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But then there's one lamp hanging from the middle of
- 6:16Speaker 3: the room that's just enough height that you run into
- 6:19Speaker 3: it and pass out.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Which made the greatest noise when she ran into it.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Why were they wearing costumes because I thought I was
- 6:26Speaker 1: like okay I guess it's a Halloween party but then
- 6:29Speaker 1: half of.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Them weren't in costumes and then they never nothing was
- 6:33Speaker 6: decorated for Halloween they never mentioned it was Halloween I'm
- 6:36Speaker 6: like so what kind of costume and it didn't matter
- 6:39Speaker 6: nobody the costume went together like gypsies and death I
- 6:43Speaker 6: don't know like it was just a bunch of random
- 6:45Speaker 6: ass costumes that they picked up at Spencer's one day
- 6:48Speaker 6: I'm just I don't I don't know what the point
- 6:51Speaker 6: of making it like that.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I don't know why they made a point to say, like,
- 6:58Speaker 3: but this party's on a weeknight. And then, like, never
- 7:00Speaker 3: brought that up again. I was like, why would you
- 7:02Speaker 3: add that?
- 7:02Speaker 2: Well, because she went to school the next day.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 7:04Speaker 2: That's the only thing.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I guess, but you could still go to school Monday
- 7:06Speaker 3: at the same shrine with me there.
- 7:08Speaker 2: That's crazy talk.
- 7:11Speaker 3: The number of times that they should not have split
- 7:14Speaker 3: up and still split up, I was like, damn it.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I've watched a lot of Scooby-Doo. That's how this works.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:21Speaker 2: You guys go that way. We're going this way. You're
- 7:23Speaker 2: supposed to split up in any spooky place. That's the rules.
