Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everyone, and welcome into another episode of The Checko Daily.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Andrew di Checko Eagles beat reporter for insidethebirds dot Com
- 0:17Speaker 1: Here and a couple notes before we get started. It's
- 0:21Speaker 1: not available as of this moment of the recording, but
- 0:25Speaker 1: I sat down with Memphis offensive tackle Travis Burke.
- 0:29Speaker 2: We covered some ground there.
- 0:30Speaker 1: He had some interesting insight regarding the Eagles that I
- 0:34Speaker 1: think listeners will find notable, and also share some backstory
- 0:40Speaker 1: as to his career, and he's been a well traveled player.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Started at Gardner Webb, then went to Florida International, then
- 0:47Speaker 1: finally arriving at Memphis and enormous offensive linemen at six
- 0:52Speaker 1: foot nine will tell you about what he actually weighs
- 0:56Speaker 1: because there's a misconception out there. But had a lot
- 0:59Speaker 1: of fun sitting there and talking with him, and I
- 1:01Speaker 1: appreciate Travis carbon out a few minutes, and then my
- 1:04Speaker 1: final mock draft to check out mock Draft three point zero.
- 1:07Speaker 2: You can expect to see that on Inside the Birds dot.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Com Monday, And you know, I don't like to do
- 1:13Speaker 1: mock draft twenty six point zero or anything like that.
- 1:16Speaker 2: That's just me.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But as you gather more information throughout the pre draft process.
- 1:21Speaker 1: It gives you a better a clearer picture as to
- 1:26Speaker 1: which way the team could be leaning or where players
- 1:29Speaker 1: are going to be slotting, and it just makes things
- 1:33Speaker 1: a little bit more realistic. So that'll be available for
- 1:35Speaker 1: you guys to consume as well. So I talked about
- 1:39Speaker 1: the other day a number of Day two options on
- 1:42Speaker 1: the offensive side that would seemingly be fits for the
- 1:45Speaker 1: foot off Eagles, and now I want to look at
- 1:49Speaker 1: the defensive players on Day two that could be a
- 1:53Speaker 1: fit for the foot off Eagles relative to where they're picking,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and as a refresher, they're picking at fifty four and
- 2:00Speaker 1: ninety eight on Day two. The Eagles have done a
- 2:03Speaker 1: very good job, in particular Howie Roseman, in identifying talent,
- 2:08Speaker 1: and on Day two you want to come away with
- 2:11Speaker 1: starters or players who can develop into eventual starters. And
- 2:16Speaker 1: this is going to be a good opportunity for the
- 2:19Speaker 1: Eagles to continue to backfill the roster with some high
- 2:22Speaker 1: end talent. I'm a big fan of some of the
- 2:24Speaker 1: Day two prospects and well, as you guys can probably
- 2:28Speaker 1: hear when I talk about the offensive guys, there's a
- 2:32Speaker 1: lot that should be available in terms of wide receivers
- 2:35Speaker 1: when the Eagles are on the clock at fifty four,
- 2:37Speaker 1: and I still think that even though they traded for
- 2:40Speaker 1: don Tavian Wicks, that that shouldn't preclude nor do I
- 2:42Speaker 1: believe it would preclude the Eagles from taking a wide
- 2:46Speaker 1: receiver on Day one or Day two on draft weekend.
- 2:52Speaker 1: With that, let's take a look at some players on
- 2:56Speaker 1: the defensive side that would make some sense. A couple
- 3:01Speaker 1: pass rushers, Keiran Crawford from Auburn. We talked a lot
- 3:07Speaker 1: about Keldrick Falk and understandably so he's likely going to
- 3:11Speaker 1: be a first round pick.
- 3:14Speaker 2: But there's another player.
- 3:17Speaker 1: From Auburn, and that's Keyron Crawford who warrants your attention.
- 3:22Speaker 1: He's just under six foot five, his wingspan hovers around
- 3:25Speaker 1: eighty inches, which is good. Twenty two years old, he
- 3:30Speaker 1: was just a one year starter for Auburn, so not
- 3:33Speaker 1: a ton of starting experience there, obviously, and he is
- 3:38Speaker 1: also someone who's not well traveled, but he played at
- 3:41Speaker 1: Arkansas State, spent two years there, two years at Auburn.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He started at Arkansas State in twenty twenty three thirteen games,
- 3:49Speaker 1: then last season for Auburn started twelve and have thirty
- 3:53Speaker 1: six tackles, nine and a half tackles for loss five sacks.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Has a little bit more of.
- 3:58Speaker 1: A productive college career enough compare to his teammate Keldric Falk,
- 4:04Speaker 1: who's a little bit more highly heralded.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But you like the size.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He's twitchy, he's explosive, and he is the type of
- 4:16Speaker 1: player that I think has a skill set and an
- 4:18Speaker 1: upside that projects favorably to a Vic Fangio defense. And
- 4:25Speaker 1: he can drop in the coverage, which is another added
- 4:28Speaker 1: appeal for a pass rusher. Now, I think that he
- 4:31Speaker 1: would be a fit when they're on the clock at
- 4:35Speaker 1: fifty four.
- 4:36Speaker 2: That's the range that you're going to be looking at
- 4:38Speaker 2: someone like him.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And yeah, just some measurables here, six' four and three
- 4:44Speaker 1: ace at the, combine two hundred and fifty three, pounds
- 4:49Speaker 1: wingspan of seventy nine and an eighth Inch and he
- 4:53Speaker 1: didn't do any of the other, drills.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Nor did he do that At Pro.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Day But Keron profferd's a player that everybody should know
- 5:02Speaker 1: and maybe file away as a name to, note but
- 5:08Speaker 1: he it WAS i see a note here at the
- 5:11Speaker 1: combine he did position drills only and looked like he
- 5:15Speaker 1: was dealing with a quad. Issue there's another player on
- 5:19Speaker 1: this list That warrant's consideration Or warren's, acknowledgment and that
- 5:24Speaker 1: Is Danny Dennis, sutton another edge rusher out Of Penn.
- 5:27Speaker 1: State And Dennis sutton is someone WHO i think has
- 5:31Speaker 1: elevated a little bit throughout this, process maybe from an outside. Perspective,
- 5:36Speaker 1: again a lot of these players that you're hearing in
- 5:40Speaker 1: terms of their draft stock. Vaulting it's that the outside
- 5:44Speaker 1: is catching up to these, prospects but they were, viewed
- 5:48Speaker 1: they were viewed differently in league. Circles And Dennis sutton
- 5:53Speaker 1: is A, Millsborough delaware. Native he's twenty two years, old
- 5:59Speaker 1: fourth year, player two year starter For Penn. State he
- 6:05Speaker 1: is just under six foot, six two hundred and fifty six,
- 6:08Speaker 1: pounds eighty two and a quarter inch wing. Span that's,
- 6:11Speaker 1: impressive and ran the forty in a four to six
- 6:14Speaker 1: three thirty nine and a half inch vertical ten eleven
- 6:18Speaker 1: on the broad. Jump and, YEAH i mean this is
- 6:22Speaker 1: someone who has a longer.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Build he's built.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Compactly he's, strong he can hold the point of, attack
- 6:31Speaker 1: and he uses his hands pretty well and.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Not an overly productive.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Earlier in his career At Penn, state where he had
- 6:42Speaker 1: six and a half sacks through two, seasons but the
- 6:45Speaker 1: final two seasons he collected eight and a half sacks
- 6:48Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four and twenty twenty five and twenty
- 6:53Speaker 1: five tackles for loss over that. Span, again we talk
- 6:56Speaker 1: about players that are just scratching the surface and have
- 6:59Speaker 1: room to gow and, develop AND i look At Danny
- 7:02Speaker 1: Dennis sutton as one of those, players AND i think
- 7:05Speaker 1: that if you're looking at pick fifty, four sixty three
- 7:09Speaker 1: is probably more. LIKELY i think IF i think sixty,
- 7:12Speaker 1: three if The eagles still need an edge, rusher he's
- 7:15Speaker 1: your best player on the.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Board you go ahead and you go get.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Him the next player we're going to get into Is.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Kyle lewis From.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Pittsburgh one of my favorite defensive prospects in this, class
- 7:31Speaker 1: and he's really hard to classify because he's. Undersized he
- 7:35Speaker 1: was a safety in high, school used as the star
- 7:38Speaker 1: player In pittsburgh's, defense so kind of a hybrid type of.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Role he's twenty two years, old he.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Started for two and a half years At, pittsburgh and
- 7:48Speaker 1: for a, perspective he's five foot eleven and seven.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Eights that was his combine measurement.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Two twenty with a seventy six and one eighth inch,
- 7:56Speaker 1: wingspan ran the forty and four five three in the right,
- 8:00Speaker 1: DEFENSE i think that he could be a big time
- 8:03Speaker 1: player in that he has the, twitchiness the. Range he
- 8:06Speaker 1: can cover a lot of. Ground when you're trying to
- 8:09Speaker 1: find defenders who can keep pace with some of these
- 8:12Speaker 1: athletic move tight ends and running backs out of the,
- 8:15Speaker 1: backfield it's hard to find a safety or a linebacker
- 8:19Speaker 1: that can regularly do. That Kyle lewis is kind of
- 8:22Speaker 1: in a unique mold in the sense that he doesn't
- 8:25Speaker 1: have necessarily a defining, role but if you're able to
- 8:29Speaker 1: use him almost as a specialty type of, player it
- 8:32Speaker 1: would make some, sense probably talking about pick number sixty
- 8:37Speaker 1: three right within that range when The eagles are on
- 8:40Speaker 1: the clock and, athletic he can go get the. Football
- 8:46Speaker 1: for context, here he had one hundred and one tackles
- 8:51Speaker 1: in twenty twenty, four eighty one tackles last, season eight
- 8:54Speaker 1: and a half tackles for, loss three, sacks three pass,
- 8:57Speaker 1: defended two, interceptions six interceptions over the past two seasons
- 9:02Speaker 1: and twenty four tackles for loss over the past two.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Seasons so he has a nose for the, football he's around,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it he can make, plays he can get after the,
- 9:11Speaker 1: quarterback and, well he doesn't have that defined, role and
- 9:15Speaker 1: he does have a hybrid. Build he's a good football
- 9:18Speaker 1: player and if you can find, use if you can
- 9:22Speaker 1: make best use of his skill, set he is well
- 9:25Speaker 1: worth taking at pick sixty. Three so That's Kyle, lewis
- 9:29Speaker 1: who is probably going to have to add a little
- 9:31Speaker 1: bit of weight and be a rotational. LINEBACKER i would
- 9:36Speaker 1: imagine you're gonna want to see him probably at two
- 9:38Speaker 1: twenty five to be able to kind of withstand the
- 9:43Speaker 1: wear and tear of a FULL nfl. Season so that
- 9:48Speaker 1: Is Kyle. Lewis THEN i want to talk About Tzaqi,
- 9:51Speaker 1: wheatley the safety From Penn.
- 9:52Speaker 2: STATE i view him as a third round pick.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Probably, yeah he's gonna probably we fall within sixty three and.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Ninety.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Eight but if he's a player you, like you take
- 10:06Speaker 1: him there at sixty. THREE i think at ninety eight
- 10:08Speaker 1: he's more realistic to be. There but longer player six foot,
- 10:12Speaker 1: three you like the, range he can cover some. Ground
- 10:15Speaker 1: he's a little bit older at twenty four years old
- 10:18Speaker 1: two year starter For Penn, state so you like the
- 10:21Speaker 1: experience that he would be coming in. With he's a
- 10:24Speaker 1: pretty good, athlete and in zone, COVERAGE i think is
- 10:29Speaker 1: where he's going to thrive the. Most seventy six and
- 10:32Speaker 1: three eighth wingspan at the combine vertical jump not overly,
- 10:38Speaker 1: impressive thirty two and a half, inches so not overly,
- 10:41Speaker 1: explosive and ten two on the broad. Jump didn't run
- 10:44Speaker 1: the forty at the combine run a four to six
- 10:47Speaker 1: to two at his pro, day again not an overly impressive,
- 10:51Speaker 1: time and you wonder about the long.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Speed but he has a.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Taller leaner. Build he's a willing tackler and run. Support
- 11:00Speaker 1: he's an instinctive. Player he plays with good, recognition and
- 11:03Speaker 1: playing Alongside drew mccuba would give The eagles an athletic
- 11:07Speaker 1: pairing that in the modern. Era And i've said this
- 11:10Speaker 1: many times is what is. Necessity it necessitates two coverage
- 11:15Speaker 1: type of safeties who can do that for, you and
- 11:17Speaker 1: The eagles didn't necessarily have that entirely in red blank
- 11:21Speaker 1: And chip, MKUBA i believe is going to really come
- 11:23Speaker 1: into his own in year. Two so that's another safety
- 11:27Speaker 1: THAT i wanted to make mention of IN Zakei, wheatley
- 11:32Speaker 1: and we'll get Into Bud, clark another. Safety Bud clark
- 11:36Speaker 1: FROM tcu is an interesting player in that he is.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Rangy he's also a little bit of a leaner, build
- 11:45Speaker 1: a little older again at twenty four years, old four
- 11:48Speaker 1: year starter AT, tcu, however so you value that kind
- 11:51Speaker 1: of experience that he would be coming in. With but
- 11:54Speaker 1: he's good in, coverage he has good ball. Skills you
- 11:59Speaker 1: probably have a little bit of concern about his. Size
- 12:02Speaker 1: he weighed just one eighty eight at THE nfl scouting.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Combine drew mccooba was listed at one eighty, Six so
- 12:08Speaker 1: we give The eagles some leaner safeties back there where
- 12:14Speaker 1: run support is going to be in. Question but he
- 12:18Speaker 1: ran a four to four one thirty eight inch vertical
- 12:21Speaker 1: ten to seven broad jump.
- 12:24Speaker 2: For.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Context in terms of his, stats which really demonstrates his playmaking.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Ability over the last two, seasons he combined for seven,
- 12:33Speaker 1: interceptions ten passes, defended and he had a sack last.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Season so he's around the football a.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Lot from WHAT i gathered at THE Nfl scouting, combine
- 12:45Speaker 1: he's a little bit of a chattier defensive. Back he
- 12:47Speaker 1: plays with some, swagger almost like he has a chip
- 12:50Speaker 1: on his.
- 12:50Speaker 2: SHOULDER i think he would be a really fun.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Addition he was a second Team All big twelve recipient
- 12:55Speaker 1: and had a twenty five year old twenty five yard interception.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Touchdown so that would be a player that at ninety
- 13:03Speaker 1: eight could be in play if The eagles so desire
- 13:06Speaker 1: to take a safety at that, point what other position
- 13:12Speaker 1: DO i want to cover?
- 13:13Speaker 3: Here, Hey philly, fans game day is stressful. Enough, parking,

- 14:13Speaker 3: twenty one and.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Up, okay we'll get to one more and that will Be.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Georgia Cornerback Dayalen everett and The eagles are very familiar
- 14:27Speaker 1: with The georgia football. Program obviously three year starter For,
- 14:31Speaker 1: georgia twenty two years. Old you like that in a
- 14:33Speaker 1: draft class where a lot of a lot of the
- 14:35Speaker 1: prospects are on the older. Side BUT i, THINK i,
- 14:39Speaker 1: mean this is a former five star recruit and he
- 14:44Speaker 1: has the, length the physicality that you look. For he's
- 14:48Speaker 1: coming from a system in which much was demanded of.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Him and at six foot, one one hundred and ninety six,
- 14:55Speaker 1: pounds four three eight, speed thirty seven half inch, vertical
- 15:00Speaker 1: ten to four on the broad, jump, explosive twitchy, athlete,
- 15:04Speaker 1: long so the length there is going to be an appealing,
- 15:08Speaker 1: asset has some good, range his footwork is. POLISHED i
- 15:13Speaker 1: tend to and The eagles have had a lot of
- 15:15Speaker 1: success with doing. SO i tend to lean towards drafting
- 15:20Speaker 1: players from these more pre eminent programs because it projects
- 15:24Speaker 1: favorably at the next level and start a forty one
- 15:29Speaker 1: game over the past three. Seasons so you like the
- 15:31Speaker 1: experience that he's coming in. WITH i think at ninety,
- 15:34Speaker 1: eight and he should be on the board and able
- 15:39Speaker 1: to able to help The eagles be more of a depth.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Player obviously they're a little bit crowded at the cornerback,
- 15:45Speaker 1: position but they still need cornerback help for the. Future
- 15:50Speaker 1: Remember Tarik wollen was signed to a one year. Deal
- 15:54Speaker 1: you Have, ringo WHO i believe is in the last
- 15:56Speaker 1: year of his rookie, Deal Ja corey And. Bennett i'm
- 15:59Speaker 1: not sure about his, contract but he's a you, know
- 16:02Speaker 1: he faces an uphill battle to make the. Roster so
- 16:04Speaker 1: the point being is The eagles still have the need
- 16:06Speaker 1: at corner when you're viewing it through the lens of
- 16:09Speaker 1: the long term future of the football. Team so Day
- 16:12Speaker 1: wheneverett would be another player THAT i like that is
- 16:16Speaker 1: worth keeping an eye, on probably around pick number ninety.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Eight those are some defensive players that could hear their
- 16:22Speaker 1: names called by The Philadelphia eagles On day, two as
- 16:25Speaker 1: they not only fill positions of, need but they also
- 16:28Speaker 1: project to go around where they're picking AND i kind
- 16:32Speaker 1: of run through. That but that's going to do it
- 16:34Speaker 1: for this episode Of The Checko. Deli andrew De, Checo
- 16:37Speaker 1: we'll catch you all on the next.
- 16:38Speaker 2: One
