- 0:00Speaker 1: Tampa Bay's best music is Magic, Magic, Magic, 94.9.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And welcome to another episode of Scotty and Abby Unfiltered. Finally,
- 0:08Speaker 2: we get to hear what the heck has gone down
- 0:10Speaker 2: with a new guy in the picture. And before we
- 0:13Speaker 2: get to that entire saga of a story, I got
- 0:17Speaker 2: to run this situation by you, Abby, because this is
- 0:19Speaker 2: too big to get into on the show. But I
- 0:22Speaker 2: have a friend that wants to reject a bachelor party
- 0:25Speaker 2: invitation to Simply because of the fact that he hates
- 0:28Speaker 2: the events that are going to be going down on
- 0:30Speaker 2: the bachelor party.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Give me the itinerary. Also, my mic sounds a little soft.
- 0:35Speaker 1: I don't know if my volume's just down.
- 0:36Speaker 3: There you go.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 0:38Speaker 3: There it is.
- 0:38Speaker 1: There we go.
- 0:39Speaker 3: So I have a friend that was like, I don't
- 0:40Speaker 3: want to go. I got invited.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I'm in the group chat. And I don't know a
- 0:44Speaker 2: single soul of who's going. It's extremely expensive. And I
- 0:48Speaker 2: have other expenses in my life.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And every activity... Doesn't do anything for me.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But what are the activities?
- 0:54Speaker 3: It's like a sporting event.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:56Speaker 3: There's a golf day. Okay.
- 0:58Speaker 2: And I think those are like the big two. And
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm trying to think. And then just maybe like going
- 1:02Speaker 2: out to like a bar.
- 1:03Speaker 1: What does this guy like to do for fun?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Ah, let's see. Go to concerts. I would say go and.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Not that. So he's not fun. Just not big into
- 1:16Speaker 3: the sporting scene. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So like every activity, it just sounds absolutely miserable. But
- 1:22Speaker 2: how does that come across? Like how do you tell
- 1:24Speaker 2: someone that you're not going to be a part of
- 1:26Speaker 2: their bachelor party?
- 1:27Speaker 3: And is there a way to make it up to them? Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Because that's how I was trying to phrase it to them.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I was like, well, if you're not going to go
- 1:33Speaker 2: to their bachelor party, you have to at least offer
- 1:36Speaker 2: to do something else with them or else that looks
- 1:38Speaker 2: real shitty.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, but I don't know. I'm very much
- 1:42Speaker 1: in the camp of a well-placed lie never hurt anybody.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Oh.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Because sometimes if you know you're not going to be
- 1:49Speaker 1: a good time on the trip, you not going is
- 1:52Speaker 1: doing everybody else a favor.
- 1:53Speaker 3: That's true.
- 1:54Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:54Speaker 2: It's like for me, I heard it and I was like, well,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're protecting your... This sounds so cliche, but like you're
- 1:59Speaker 2: protecting your peace.
- 2:00Speaker 1: No, but it's not even your peace. You're just, you're
- 2:02Speaker 1: protecting the vibe of the group. And honestly, I can
- 2:05Speaker 1: tell there are definitely... There's maybe one bachelorette party that
- 2:09Speaker 1: I probably didn't need to go on, but I went
- 2:11Speaker 1: because I wanted to be a part of it and
- 2:14Speaker 1: I wanted to be there to support this person. But
- 2:17Speaker 1: like if I hadn't shown up, they would have it
- 2:19Speaker 1: might have been better for them.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You know, I mean, yeah, like I don't think anybody's
- 2:22Speaker 2: really going to be I don't think disappointed is the word,
- 2:25Speaker 2: but nobody's really counting on you to be there.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Like if you can make it awesome, you can't make it.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Don't stress.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But I think a lot of us put that stress
- 2:32Speaker 2: on ourselves of, oh, my God, I got invited. I'm
- 2:35Speaker 2: one of the seven that's going to be going. And
- 2:36Speaker 2: if I say no, does that reflect our friendship?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I also just feel like maybe guys don't care
- 2:41Speaker 1: that much in the same way that women might. But
- 2:43Speaker 1: I also don't really understand the dynamics of a bachelor
- 2:45Speaker 1: party because I have noticed on most bachelorette parties, there's
- 2:49Speaker 1: usually an in group of. the people that are very
- 2:51Speaker 1: close to the bride on a consistent basis. And then
- 2:54Speaker 1: there are people that are in the bridal party for
- 2:56Speaker 1: maybe an obligatory reason, or maybe they're a friend from
- 2:59Speaker 1: a long time ago and they're not a part of
- 3:02Speaker 1: the friend group that lives in that girl's city. Do
- 3:04Speaker 1: you know what I mean? And sometimes it's just really
- 3:07Speaker 1: difficult to make those groups mesh. And it's not because
- 3:10Speaker 1: anybody's a bad person because I was just texting my
- 3:13Speaker 1: mom about this. I'm like, I want to do something
- 3:15Speaker 1: for my 30th next year. I'm thinking about getting a
- 3:17Speaker 1: house somewhere and just inviting everyone down. But then I
- 3:19Speaker 1: told her, I'm like, you know what? I don't think
- 3:21Speaker 1: I want to do that because the whole time I'm
- 3:22Speaker 1: going to be thinking about is everyone having fun because
- 3:25Speaker 1: it'll be a mixture of friend groups and you don't
- 3:27Speaker 1: know how people are going to gel. And so I'm like,
- 3:30Speaker 1: maybe I won't do that.
- 3:31Speaker 3: That's literally what I'm facing right now.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Like to take this to a tangent is like with
- 3:34Speaker 2: everybody on the boat for my 30th.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I had to really take a step back and be like, look,
- 3:39Speaker 2: I'm going to put out two activities and for the
- 3:42Speaker 2: rest of the time. And I'm going to say this
- 3:44Speaker 2: over and over again. Y'all don't have to spend every
- 3:46Speaker 2: second with me because if you want to go do
- 3:48Speaker 2: something and you're worried that it's going to hurt my, no,
- 3:51Speaker 2: like this is your trip too.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I don't want you.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Leaving that story or that trip and being like, well,
- 3:55Speaker 2: that was a waste of money. Yeah. I didn't gel
- 3:57Speaker 2: with anybody. But you do have to be so selective on, like,
- 4:01Speaker 2: who are the people that are going to come together well?
- 4:04Speaker 2: Because I looked at that with this trip of, like,
- 4:06Speaker 2: who I invited. Because there are people in my life
- 4:09Speaker 2: that I do have a.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Little bit of an inkling.
- 4:11Speaker 2: They're going to find out about this trip.
- 4:13Speaker 3: They're going to see it on social media. And they're
- 4:15Speaker 3: going to wonder why they weren't invited. Yeah. And I
- 4:17Speaker 3: understand that feeling.
- 4:18Speaker 2: That could be a little rough, especially if you're like, wait,
- 4:20Speaker 2: I thought I was, like, one of your really close friends.
- 4:22Speaker 1: You are.
- 4:23Speaker 3: And without me having to ask you, I probably knew
- 4:26Speaker 3: that you wouldn't gel with the group.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You wouldn't really want to be there. You would have
- 4:30Speaker 3: said no.
- 4:30Speaker 2: So I'm saving you the time and the energy of
- 4:33Speaker 2: being on that trip.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 1: That's why I think if I ever get married in 2057,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I think I'm going to do.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It keeps getting further.
- 4:40Speaker 2: No, no.
- 4:40Speaker 1: It just keeps... Yeah, I'm like dead. I'm like in
- 4:42Speaker 1: my coffin.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Bachelorette party at Abby's funeral home. Let's watch her get cremated.
- 4:48Speaker 3: So I think.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Well, I have this idea in my head, and this
- 4:52Speaker 1: is like an unfinished idea. I actually really even haven't
- 4:55Speaker 1: thought about it that much, but I think the idea
- 4:57Speaker 1: has popped up in my head that if I ever
- 4:59Speaker 1: had a bachelorette party, I want to go on tour.
- 5:02Speaker 3: That's a dope idea. Wait a second.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Instead of, okay, wait, the more I talk about it,
- 5:08Speaker 1: the more I think I like this idea.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Play it out.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Wait, I'll make t-shirts and everything.
- 5:12Speaker 3: You guys don't.
- 5:13Speaker 1: Even date anybody. I'm going to go on tour. Like
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'm going to come to you and I'm just going
- 5:19Speaker 1: to spend a weekend with you in your city. Like
- 5:22Speaker 1: I have a close friend. Like, let's say I get
- 5:24Speaker 1: married next year. That's not happening, but let's say my
- 5:26Speaker 1: bachelorette party is next year. I have close friends that
- 5:29Speaker 1: live in Miami and I'll go spend a weekend in
- 5:32Speaker 1: Miami with those friends and then I'll have, they can
- 5:34Speaker 1: just spend, they can take me on whatever they like
- 5:37Speaker 1: to do in Miami. We can go to that club,
- 5:38Speaker 1: we can go to that restaurant. And I'll wear a
- 5:41Speaker 1: veil and, you know, it'll just be a casual night out,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but it just happens.
- 5:44Speaker 3: To be me celebrating getting married.
- 5:47Speaker 1: And then I have a friend that lives in Nashville.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'll go visit her in Nashville and we'll spend a
- 5:49Speaker 1: weekend together in Nashville. You don't have to fly. You
- 5:51Speaker 1: don't have to spend money in the Airbnb. And then
- 5:54Speaker 1: I get like 17 bachelorette parties. And then all my
- 5:57Speaker 1: friends don't have to inconvenience themselves or pretend that they
- 5:59Speaker 1: like some girl that they just met that they're not
- 6:00Speaker 1: going to see again in a year.
- 6:01Speaker 3: That's awesome. Honestly, a fantastic idea.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Wait, I love this idea. I'm so doing this. Someone
- 6:07Speaker 1: please marry me. No, and I'm literally going to make
- 6:11Speaker 1: tour t-shirts. On the back, it's going to say Abby's
- 6:14Speaker 1: Bachelorette Year 2045, and then it will have all the
- 6:17Speaker 1: cities that I'm visiting. I have friends that live in Atlanta.
- 6:19Speaker 1: We'll go out to some of the clubs in Atlanta.
- 6:21Speaker 1: We'll go on Lake Lanier. Wait, I love this idea.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Everything's clicking right now.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'll do one in St. Pete. All my St. Pete
- 6:29Speaker 1: friends can just take me to Goodnight John Boy and
- 6:31Speaker 1: we'll just stay there for 15 hours.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's what I want to do for my bachelorette party
- 6:35Speaker 1: in St. Pete in 2067 is I just want to
- 6:38Speaker 1: get like a big group of girls and we're just
- 6:40Speaker 1: going to... The second Goodnight John Boy opens, we're going
- 6:42Speaker 1: to get a table and then we're not leaving.
- 6:44Speaker 3: No, we ain't fucking leaving.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I'm not fucking leaving. So anyway... I don't know how
- 6:50Speaker 1: that took a turn, but that's what I want to do.
- 6:51Speaker 2: I think that's a really good idea. I think because
- 6:53Speaker 2: it is hard. Like, and that's what my friend was
- 6:55Speaker 2: telling me. It's like I got put in a group
- 6:56Speaker 2: chat with literally people.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I have no idea who they are. All I know
- 6:59Speaker 3: is the person that's getting married.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And I thought, I mean, that's kind of the part
- 7:02Speaker 2: of it, though, is that you are supposed to get
- 7:04Speaker 2: to know those people because you're going to be at
- 7:05Speaker 2: the wedding together with them. You're going to be getting
- 7:07Speaker 2: ready with them. You're going to be celebrating with them.
- 7:09Speaker 2: So the bachelor and bachelorette party, it does help build
- 7:11Speaker 2: that camaraderie.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I I I don't disagree with that. I don't
- 7:17Speaker 1: disagree with that. I'm just so excited about me going
- 7:22Speaker 1: on tour. I'm gonna get a bus. I'm gonna have
- 7:27Speaker 1: like the JoJo Siwa insignia on the side. It's like
- 7:30Speaker 1: my face. And I'm like, it's me with a veil.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Abby's getting married. Finally.
- 7:33Speaker 3: That's actually such a funny idea.
- 7:36Speaker 1: No, I don't disagree with that. And I also really
- 7:39Speaker 1: like the idea of joint bachelor parties too.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Really?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Because those are controversial. Like where you like the bride
- 7:44Speaker 2: and the groom or the groom and the groom or
- 7:45Speaker 2: the bride and the bride. all do their bachelor together.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Cause everybody thinks it's a red flag. Like, well, you
- 7:49Speaker 1: can't have fun without your, um, your husband. But I'm like,
- 7:52Speaker 1: I think it's kind of fun. Like, I think it's
- 7:54Speaker 1: such a good green flag. Like you like this person
- 7:56Speaker 1: enough and your, and your friend groups gel enough.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And your friend groups gel enough that you guys can
- 8:01Speaker 1: go to Aspen for a weekend and get like a
- 8:03Speaker 1: big house. To me, that sounds fun. Especially if there's
- 8:07Speaker 1: single guys in the group and they're single girls in
- 8:09Speaker 1: the group, that's fun and chaotic. And the best part
- 8:12Speaker 1: about a wedding or some kind of bachelorette party is
- 8:15Speaker 1: the reality show antics that come out of it.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 8:18Speaker 1: I do want someone to have a blackout make out
- 8:19Speaker 1: at my wedding. I want the groomsmen and the bridesmaids
- 8:22Speaker 1: to hook up. Not when I get married because it'll
- 8:23Speaker 1: literally just be like my brother's wife and my best
- 8:26Speaker 1: friend and they'll be married.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Awkward.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But I love the idea of that.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I do too.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I think a lot of people give it a bad
- 8:32Speaker 2: rap because it's like, you should be able to have
- 8:34Speaker 2: your independence. But like, I really, I love that we
- 8:36Speaker 2: talk about this because it's like, you're marrying your best friend.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Like, go enjoy that adventure together, and you could have
- 8:41Speaker 2: your separate things. Yeah, different things planned out to the day,
- 8:44Speaker 2: but also a couple things together.
- 8:46Speaker 3: And if you were.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Talking about camaraderie, having all the groomsmen, all the bridesmaids
- 8:50Speaker 2: doing things together, wait till those shenanigans for the wedding day,
- 8:54Speaker 2: now that they've had a whole weekend together.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
- 8:56Speaker 2: That would be madness in the best way possible.
- 8:58Speaker 1: I wish some of my friends had done a joint bachelor,
- 9:00Speaker 1: bachelorette party. Not that I wouldn't have had fun on
- 9:02Speaker 1: their parties otherwise, but I do... There's a couple of
- 9:05Speaker 1: bridal party situations that would have been way more fun
- 9:08Speaker 1: if we had done it as a group.
- 9:09Speaker 3: And you could hook up safely. Yeah. Truthfully. Hopefully.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Yeah. You know who they are. They have a little
- 9:14Speaker 1: bit of a background check or you know who not
- 9:15Speaker 1: to touch.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 9:17Speaker 2: And this way you're not just like trying to find
- 9:19Speaker 2: some random dude at the bar. I don't know what
- 9:20Speaker 2: goes down at bachelorette parties, though. Like I was like,
- 9:23Speaker 2: it's cheer camp.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah. OK.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Have you ever been to football camp or like, yeah,
- 9:27Speaker 1: it's that. It's that, but it's more pink.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 1: And there's more penises around.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, like actual, like, plastic ones, not actual, like,
- 9:35Speaker 3: human ones.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Well, depends.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I guess it depends on who's getting married.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Depends on which bachelorette party you're on.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Because, guys, bachelor parties are so chill, it's actually, like, weird.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You know, like, when I went on my buddies in January,
- 9:47Speaker 2: we went to the mountains, and we just got a cabin.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And, like, for some nights, we would just cook.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Went to a comedy show, hung out in the hot tub,
- 9:53Speaker 2: smoked a cigar, and that was pretty much it.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I love that.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It was so easy.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah. where I feel like the bachelorette parties are like,
- 10:00Speaker 2: here's our itinerary, and it's like a scroll that just
- 10:02Speaker 2: falls all the way down to the floor.
- 10:03Speaker 1: Literally, it's like 8 a.m.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Get up, Pilates. Zumba.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And you're hungover from the night before, and you're like,
- 10:10Speaker 1: who thought this was a good idea?
- 10:11Speaker 3: No, make it easy on people.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I don't even want to get up at 8 a.m.
- 10:14Speaker 1: on my own Saturday.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You know, it's very interesting because I feel like we
- 10:17Speaker 2: have to have things in our heads scheduled. to make
- 10:20Speaker 2: it feel like we got the most out of a trip.
- 10:22Speaker 2: But I'm going in with the opposite mentality.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I want nothing.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You can always add more. You can always do more.
- 10:28Speaker 1: You can always think, oh, we're a little bored. What
- 10:30Speaker 1: should we do?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you can find something.
- 10:31Speaker 1: And then you can find something. But as somebody who
- 10:34Speaker 1: literally plans girls trips consistently for big groups of people
- 10:38Speaker 1: who don't know each other, I love how I'm like
- 10:39Speaker 1: shitting on the idea of like girls getting together that
- 10:42Speaker 1: don't know each other. And that's literally like my whole shtick.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That's literally your thing.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think it's different when everyone's coming together and everyone's
- 10:47Speaker 1: kind of on equal footing. I think it's different when
- 10:48Speaker 1: it's like a bachelorette party and everyone's like, There's a hierarchy.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Who's closest to the bride? That's a different story. Um,
- 10:54Speaker 1: what I, what was I talking about? Oh, is the
- 10:57Speaker 1: biggest thing I have learned is let people sleep.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Let people sleep. Nobody wants to get up before 10
- 11:03Speaker 1: on a girl's trip. I promise you that you think
- 11:06Speaker 1: that they're going to want to do 9am Zumba. They,
- 11:09Speaker 1: they do not.
- 11:10Speaker 3: That's a good thing.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm actually going to take that note down for my birthday.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Cause like there's some things that are earlier.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Cutting that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'm so serious. Anything before 11 AM cut it.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Cause this way people will be in a good mood.
- 11:20Speaker 3: That's amazing though.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Cause I have friends and like, just to take this of,
- 11:23Speaker 2: I didn't realize normal people sleep like well into the
- 11:29Speaker 2: sunlight where it's, I don't know.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Our bodies are so wired not to anymore. That is
- 11:33Speaker 3: even on the weekends.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Like I'm opening my eyes and the sun's coming up
- 11:36Speaker 2: and I'm like, son of a But for most people,
- 11:38Speaker 2: like I went and stayed with my buddy in Colorado.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He didn't get out of bed until like 930.
- 11:43Speaker 1: That's early. Everybody is going to have way more fun
- 11:47Speaker 1: when they sleep in. And it's so funny because I.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I have I've worked with a lot of different companies
- 11:52Speaker 1: on group travel and stuff. And there's always like just
- 11:54Speaker 1: a packed itinerary, especially on the first day. They're like,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you got to get people out and get get them going, going, going,
- 11:59Speaker 1: get them acclimated. I'm like, no, people want to sleep
- 12:01Speaker 1: and they're on vacation and they want to chill. And
- 12:03Speaker 1: they want like one or two planned things after 12 p.m.
- 12:07Speaker 1: to kind of get them through the time between waking
- 12:10Speaker 1: up and dinner and then something to bond with people over.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And then after that, most people want to get dinner
- 12:15Speaker 1: and have a couple cocktails and dessert and maybe go
- 12:17Speaker 1: dancing or go to sleep and watch a movie.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah, we make it too complicated.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah, let people live.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I do like that.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I mean, that's like now that I'm gone on a
- 12:26Speaker 2: couple trips, my whole mentality is I don't want to
- 12:28Speaker 2: go on any more trips where I come back more
- 12:30Speaker 2: exhausted than when I left.
- 12:31Speaker 1: That's what I mean. And sometimes you can't help that. Like,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I'm thinking about my flight to Naples on Friday, and
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, my God.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Well, that's going to be a bear.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like 20 hours of travel or whatever. And
- 12:42Speaker 1: that's just going to make you tired no matter what.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But being in Italy or being in Greece shouldn't be
- 12:46Speaker 1: the thing that wears you out.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 12:48Speaker 1: That should feel restorative.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you spend so much time and money putting this
- 12:51Speaker 3: thing together.
- 12:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Get a little bit of rest. So you said earlier,
- 12:54Speaker 2: like when you get there, are you getting there in
- 12:57Speaker 2: the middle of the day or is it at night
- 12:58Speaker 2: or in the morning?
- 13:00Speaker 1: I get there at 8 a.m. on Saturday, I think.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Oh, shoot. 8 a.m.
- 13:04Speaker 1: On Saturday. And Saturday's my acclimation day.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It's my buffer day, just in case, like, my flight
- 13:09Speaker 1: gets canceled. Because it's a really big problem if I
- 13:11Speaker 1: don't show up on time. Because then everyone's like, what
- 13:13Speaker 1: do we do? That's our point of contact. So I'm
- 13:14Speaker 1: getting there a day early. And then Sunday's the day
- 13:17Speaker 1: when most of the girls are getting in. And I
- 13:19Speaker 1: think a couple of the other girls that are coming
- 13:21Speaker 1: in a day early, we're going to do, like, a
- 13:22Speaker 1: wine tour or something.
- 13:23Speaker 2: When you do get there, since it's 8 a.m., are
- 13:25Speaker 2: you going to go to bed? Or are you, like,
- 13:27Speaker 2: going to try to stay up until night?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Well, I won't have my hotel room until, like, 4 a.m. Yeah,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I know. That's always the weirdest day. I remember when
- 13:35Speaker 1: I landed in Greece, that was maybe 18 hours of travel.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And it's just such a mind fuck. Yeah. Like you
- 13:40Speaker 1: get to the hotel and you're like, what do you mean?
- 13:42Speaker 1: It's 9 a.m. I've been traveling for a day. I've
- 13:45Speaker 1: been here forever. And then I remember that night my
- 13:47Speaker 1: friends were at a different hotel and they wanted to
- 13:49Speaker 1: hang out. They're like, we're going to the club. I'm like,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you guys, my body is shutting down.
- 13:53Speaker 3: For real.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Like I have never experienced. I went to China once
- 13:56Speaker 2: and like people talk about jet lag. And you think
- 13:59Speaker 2: you're just a little tired. I literally couldn't get up.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Like my body literally shut down for days. I think two,
- 14:06Speaker 2: three days where it's.
- 14:07Speaker 3: The middle of the day. I'm just sleeping five hours.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I couldn't get up. I'd get up and I was like,
- 14:10Speaker 2: I was in a haze, but I can't move. Pass
- 14:13Speaker 2: back out. That's when I realized I was like, oh,
- 14:15Speaker 2: people aren't bullshitting about like jet lag.
- 14:17Speaker 3: It's real.
- 14:17Speaker 1: You get so tired. I think it's a little bit
- 14:19Speaker 1: easier on the way back because you can, I can
- 14:22Speaker 1: find that I can sleep on a plane if I'm,
- 14:25Speaker 1: so brutally exhausted. Like coming back from Greece, I was
- 14:27Speaker 1: KO'd for like hours.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 1: But going there, I can't sleep.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Oh God.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But here's the thing. I am really good at locking
- 14:33Speaker 1: in because I love not doing anything. And that's all
- 14:35Speaker 1: you get to do on a plane is just lock
- 14:36Speaker 1: in and watch TV. Okay.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So you're just going to watch a show or a movie?
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm just going to watch back-to-back shows. Maybe I'll get
- 14:41Speaker 1: some writing done. I really don't want to bring my laptop,
- 14:44Speaker 1: but I do want to try and be productive. But
- 14:46Speaker 1: every single time I bring my laptop, I think I'm
- 14:48Speaker 1: going to use it and I never use it.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Never do it.
- 14:49Speaker 2: And then it's just something that you got to check
- 14:50Speaker 2: in at the airport. You got to do the whole
- 14:52Speaker 2: thing where you take it out and they look at it.
- 14:54Speaker 2: And then it just sits in the bag the whole time.
- 14:56Speaker 2: You got to worry about it getting stolen.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So I think I'm going to try and do some reading,
- 14:59Speaker 1: listen to some audio books and try and fuel some creativity.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But I really don't know if it's going to be
- 15:05Speaker 1: worth it to bring this thing that controls my life.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Yeah. I was going to say, it's like, honestly, leave it.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Allow yourself to disconnect a little bit.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I know.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Even though you're kind of still working.
- 15:15Speaker 1: But I always think, oh, I'll upload photos and I'll
- 15:17Speaker 1: edit photos. And I never do that. I just go
- 15:19Speaker 1: back to my room and I sleep.
- 15:20Speaker 3: As you should.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Use it as a way to rest as well to
- 15:23Speaker 2: get a little disconnect. Let's jump into this whole situation because.
- 15:27Speaker 3: There is a... Which situation? Can I call him a prospect?
- 15:31Speaker 1: A prospect.
- 15:32Speaker 3: We haven't talked about this on the podcast yet.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I went on a hinge date on Wednesday. And
- 15:39Speaker 1: it might be the best date that I've been on
- 15:42Speaker 1: in Tampa, but I'm not going to see him again.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Wait a second. Okay, wait a second. So last week.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It was Wednesday, yeah, so a week ago.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Okay. Wait, how did this happen? Who was this?
- 15:54Speaker 1: Some guy I met on Hinge. Some dude. Some man.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Some man.
- 15:58Speaker 1: He was cute. A blonde man, surprisingly.
- 16:01Speaker 3: They're not bad.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Good job. Good education. My type. Thigh tat. Oh, Jesus.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Love a thigh tat. People always say they can't picture
- 16:10Speaker 1: me with someone with tats, but I'm like, I love
- 16:12Speaker 1: a thigh tat.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I think tattoos are so normal now that it's like
- 16:15Speaker 2: it's the options. You're more than likely going to end
- 16:17Speaker 2: up with somebody with a tattoo.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I'm edgier in my old age.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Oh.
- 16:21Speaker 1: He asked me out to coffee, which I appreciated because
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't want to have to get all
- 16:24Speaker 1: dressed up and have alcohol and just, yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Yeah, just for it to not go well.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Just for it to not go well. And so I
- 16:29Speaker 1: loved it. I'm like, oh, I'll go for a walk
- 16:31Speaker 1: or maybe I'll get a solid cooler and then I'll
- 16:32Speaker 1: bop over. So anyway, we went to Buddy Brew. And
- 16:35Speaker 1: it was a good time.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I like Buddy Brew over in Tampa.
- 16:38Speaker 1: It was cute.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Was he good at, like, actually making the conversation happen
- 16:41Speaker 2: quick on Hinge where it's.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Like, boom, boom, right to it?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Immediately, like, let's go out.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Love that.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I don't want to pen pal. I'm talking to a
- 16:46Speaker 1: guy right now who has decent pacing. Like, he's not
- 16:49Speaker 1: doing it too much, but I don't know what it is.
- 16:52Speaker 1: But when someone just, like, doesn't know me yet and
- 16:54Speaker 1: they want to talk to me a lot, I get
- 16:56Speaker 1: a little icked out because I'm like, oh, you got, like,
- 16:58Speaker 1: no one on your phone.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Well, that's one way to look at it.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Granted, I don't have anyone on my phone, but it's
- 17:03Speaker 1: kind of like, We don't know each other yet.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 17:07Speaker 3: We're pen pals right now.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We're pen pals. So it just feels weird for you
- 17:10Speaker 1: to like be asking me all these questions. I'm like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: ask me on the date. Like that's the point of
- 17:13Speaker 1: a date.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Don't get to know me too much where we're sitting
- 17:15Speaker 3: there just staring at each other. Yeah. Can I go
- 17:17Speaker 3: back a second? Like what happened to the coffee guy?
- 17:19Speaker 3: Like why? Oh, it was good.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Here's what I learned about myself on that date because I,
- 17:25Speaker 1: he did ask me out again and I went back
- 17:27Speaker 1: and forth on whether or not I wanted to say yes.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And there was a thought that I had on that date.
- 17:33Speaker 1: that made me think, yeah, I don't think that's what,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't think that this is how you're supposed to feel.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah. And I found myself, even though he's a really
- 17:42Speaker 1: nice guy and a great conversationalist and he's a really
- 17:45Speaker 1: good dude, I found myself thinking, I feel like I
- 17:48Speaker 1: have to dial myself back a little bit and I
- 17:53Speaker 1: don't think you're supposed to feel that way. And I
- 17:56Speaker 1: just get the sense that like our personalities aren't a
- 17:59Speaker 1: good thing. romantic fit does that make sense it does
- 18:03Speaker 1: it does like I was like oh he's really nice
- 18:05Speaker 1: and he's somebody that I would be friends with and
- 18:06Speaker 1: he's very handsome but I just don't think I'm sitting
- 18:09Speaker 1: here having this conversation and I feel like I kind
- 18:11Speaker 1: of have to mute not mute myself a little bit
- 18:14Speaker 1: but I want to be with someone who makes me
- 18:16Speaker 1: more me. And I felt like I was less me
- 18:18Speaker 1: on that date.
- 18:19Speaker 2: What parts of you do you feel like you were
- 18:20Speaker 2: quieting down or like just turning the knob down a
- 18:23Speaker 2: little bit on?
- 18:23Speaker 1: I think when I describe the kind of personality I
- 18:25Speaker 1: want to be with, I always use the word gritty.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And I think what I mean by that is I
- 18:29Speaker 1: want someone who's also like really dry and sarcastic and
- 18:32Speaker 1: we can kind of jab at each other. And this
- 18:35Speaker 1: guy was just really, really nice and pleasant and lovely.
- 18:39Speaker 1: And I know that sounds like an insult, but I
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't mean it that way. I just mean I want
- 18:43Speaker 1: somebody's personality who just kind of butts up against mine
- 18:47Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
- 18:49Speaker 3: No, it doesn't.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Like, that's how I envision myself. Like, I'm like, I
- 18:52Speaker 2: am not somebody that's like, I'm going to come at
- 18:54Speaker 2: you with the, I'm going to clap back. I'm not
- 18:56Speaker 2: a clap back kind of guy.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I'm like the nice guy. So I laugh that you
- 18:59Speaker 3: say that about him because I'm like, oh, okay, I
- 19:00Speaker 3: get him.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm sure people are listening to this like, oh, Abby,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you're so nice. That's the thing you're complaining about. I'm like,
- 19:05Speaker 1: I just didn't feel like, You know, when you meet
- 19:07Speaker 1: someone whose personality just makes you feel more like yourself.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Oh, hell yeah.
- 19:10Speaker 1: That's what I felt like I was missing. And so
- 19:13Speaker 1: I thought maybe I can go out on a second
- 19:15Speaker 1: date with this guy. But I was like, I think
- 19:16Speaker 1: ultimately it's just not really what I'm looking for. And
- 19:19Speaker 1: that was really hard for me to have to send
- 19:21Speaker 1: him a text back and be like, I just don't
- 19:22Speaker 1: think I think I said something like I think our
- 19:25Speaker 1: schedules aren't really going to align because he's all he
- 19:27Speaker 1: also has a job where he travels. a lot and
- 19:30Speaker 1: very far and i said listen i'm traveling a lot
- 19:32Speaker 1: you're traveling a lot i think we're both just gonna
- 19:35Speaker 1: like wait not waste our time but i'm like i
- 19:36Speaker 1: think i think i kind of know where this is
- 19:39Speaker 1: gonna end and i think let's just like end it
- 19:41Speaker 1: here essentially but i was i think it's very important
- 19:44Speaker 1: to just be super Here's what I've learned about saying
- 19:49Speaker 1: no to somebody when you feel really bad about saying
- 19:51Speaker 1: no to somebody because you don't feel bad. But I
- 19:52Speaker 1: felt really bad about saying no to him. And I
- 19:54Speaker 1: just said, let me just pull it up. Because I
- 19:57Speaker 1: liked what I said. I think he was a little disappointed,
- 19:59Speaker 1: so I feel bad.
- 20:00Speaker 2: This is tough because it's like, I know there's somebody
- 20:03Speaker 2: listening right now that's like, Abby, go on the second date.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Like, at least play it out.
- 20:08Speaker 2: And I could also see that point, but also I
- 20:10Speaker 2: see it like, when it clicks, I'll tell you what,
- 20:13Speaker 2: it freaking clicks.
- 20:14Speaker 1: That's what I mean. And I'm not saying it's going
- 20:16Speaker 1: to be perfect and magical and rainbow. I'm not saying
- 20:18Speaker 1: that because I know, because I'm going to get some
- 20:20Speaker 1: woman in my DMs being like, well, when I met
- 20:21Speaker 1: my husband, I thought he was an ogre. And then I...
- 20:24Speaker 1: went on 47 dates with him. And I just want
- 20:26Speaker 1: to feel like there's something there. And I have felt that,
- 20:31Speaker 1: or I felt inklings of that every now and then
- 20:33Speaker 1: where you meet someone and there's a switch that flips
- 20:35Speaker 1: and you go, okay, this is, this is an actual prospect.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And then you find out whether or not you're compatible.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But if you don't have chemistry with someone right off
- 20:42Speaker 1: the bat, I don't know that that can be forced.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:44Speaker 3: And like, they could be a good looking person.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Okay. I can't, I can't find the text message, but
- 20:48Speaker 1: basically I said something along the lines that I felt
- 20:50Speaker 1: was very personable because I wanted him to know that
- 20:53Speaker 1: I I did have a good time on the date.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 1: So I tried to pinpoint certain things that he'd said.
- 20:59Speaker 1: So he knew I was listening just, just to be like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah. And thank you so much. Like, I can't
- 21:03Speaker 1: believe you were on this date instead of doing X, Y,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and Z. Like I just, I really wanted to drive
- 21:07Speaker 1: home the point that like, I really think you're great.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I just don't think we're going to be boyfriend, girlfriend.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Like, I don't think we mesh in that capacity.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You're still a good person. That doesn't take away from
- 21:17Speaker 2: who you are. So that would be my advice to you.
- 21:19Speaker 1: If you're sitting here and you're like, oh, my God,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I hate that feeling of when you go out on
- 21:22Speaker 1: a first date and you like them, but you don't
- 21:24Speaker 1: like like them.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 1: How do I reject them? I think just being really
- 21:28Speaker 1: warm and bringing up things that you guys talked about
- 21:31Speaker 1: so that they know that you were present and enjoyed
- 21:34Speaker 1: the conversation rather than just being like, yeah, I wasn't
- 21:36Speaker 1: feeling it by just really just try and make that
- 21:39Speaker 1: person feel seen because that sucks to have to be
- 21:41Speaker 1: on the rejection end.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's really hard when it's like you guys are. Like,
- 21:45Speaker 2: they're literally missing each other. Or, yeah, you're not each
- 21:48Speaker 2: other's person.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 2: And you don't want it to... That's my biggest fear, is, like,
- 21:52Speaker 2: to just be good enough. Ugh, God, that used to
- 21:55Speaker 2: haunt me years ago.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Of, like, am I.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Is it just good enough where you can keep it going?
- 22:01Speaker 2: Or is there something else out there that's gonna, like,
- 22:02Speaker 2: go on that date and it's just.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Bam!
- 22:05Speaker 1: Fireworks. That's a big fear of mine.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: A huge fear of mine. And you never know if
- 22:08Speaker 1: you're gonna get that. I was having a conversation with
- 22:10Speaker 1: my friend Taylor last night. And we were talking about
- 22:13Speaker 1: a couple situations where we... have felt like... The older
- 22:22Speaker 1: you get, the more you realize people are just kind
- 22:23Speaker 1: of choosing people. And that's why the divorce rate, I think,
- 22:26Speaker 1: is so high.
- 22:26Speaker 4: I agree.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Because you feel like you've got to be married by
- 22:29Speaker 1: 30 or you like this person for certain reasons. But
- 22:32Speaker 1: not everyone's getting the romantic aha. And that both made
- 22:37Speaker 1: us really, really sad because... I think I grew up
- 22:39Speaker 1: in such a bubble to where I thought like at 26,
- 22:41Speaker 1: you got your government issued husband at a bar.
- 22:43Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 22:44Speaker 1: He just like pops in like that happens. And then
- 22:46Speaker 1: the older you get, the more you realize like that's
- 22:47Speaker 1: not happening for everybody. And that's like a really sad
- 22:50Speaker 1: and scary thought.
- 22:51Speaker 3: That you don't know.
- 22:52Speaker 2: That's the weird thing about like, if we just knew
- 22:54Speaker 2: what happened a year, it would be so much easier
- 22:56Speaker 2: to just let our guard down and let our shoulders relax.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 3: But you don't, you don't know.
- 22:59Speaker 2: But at the same time and the silver lining is like,
- 23:03Speaker 2: as long as you don't like, let me be careful
- 23:06Speaker 2: how I say this. Like if you don't settle, then
- 23:08Speaker 2: you're not going to put yourself in that position. Like
- 23:10Speaker 2: at least you have options now.
- 23:11Speaker 3: You still do.
- 23:12Speaker 2: And I don't think it's very hard, but we are
- 23:14Speaker 2: the oldest we've ever been, but we're not old. Yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Like that's the part that it's like, yes, it feels
- 23:18Speaker 2: like there's so much pressure and there's so much time slipping.
- 23:20Speaker 2: But literally that moment can happen at any moment. But
- 23:23Speaker 2: if you decide to just settle, well, then you're taking
- 23:25Speaker 2: that moment away.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And I think that's one of the reasons why I've
- 23:27Speaker 1: never been in a long term relationship. Cause I don't
- 23:29Speaker 1: want to just.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Be with a guy.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And then that distracts me from finding my actual person.
- 23:33Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Cause I've been in that situation where you're out at
- 23:35Speaker 1: a club or something with a guy that you're seeing
- 23:37Speaker 1: and you're kind of looking around. And the second you
- 23:39Speaker 1: start looking around, I'm like, that's, that's the end for me.
- 23:42Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Cause you're not excited to be with that person. And
- 23:44Speaker 1: if it's early, early on, you shouldn't feel that way.
- 23:46Speaker 1: 15 years into a relationship. That's, I don't have experience
- 23:49Speaker 1: in that.
- 23:49Speaker 2: You guys can both talk about how you're just like
- 23:51Speaker 2: people like, Hey, both could agree. But in the beginning,
- 23:53Speaker 2: you really should be excited. Like, Oh my God, that's
- 23:55Speaker 2: your person. And it should click. And it should be
- 23:58Speaker 2: something that you're excited about. And you should want to
- 23:59Speaker 2: hang out with them.
- 24:00Speaker 3: And I don't know. Back to the first conversation.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Maybe you do want to do both Bachelor and Bachelorette
- 24:05Speaker 2: parties together.
- 24:05Speaker 4: I know.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Because you love that person so much that you don't
- 24:07Speaker 3: want to miss them.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I want to care about a person that much to
- 24:10Speaker 1: where I'm like, I will not go on tour for you.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I love this idea.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I will cancel the tour for you.
- 24:17Speaker 1: This is going to ruin the tour. That's what it is.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I'm going to get shirts with Justin Timberlake's face on
- 24:23Speaker 1: it that says, this is going to ruin the tour.
- 24:26Speaker 1: But it's me, and it's a mugshot, and then it's
- 24:28Speaker 1: all the cities that I'm going to.
- 24:29Speaker 2: St.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Pete, Miami, Nashville, Atlanta. Where else do I have friends?
- 24:34Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:34Speaker 2: New York? No.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I do have a couple friends in New York.
- 24:37Speaker 4: New York.
- 24:38Speaker 3: You're going on the East Coast.
- 24:39Speaker 1: God, I love New York. Let me get back to
- 24:40Speaker 1: New York. And then that's it. I need someone to
- 24:44Speaker 1: go to Austin, though. I want to do a bachelorette
- 24:46Speaker 1: in Austin. Austin's such a cool city.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Gosh. I think, you know, it's a crazy thing, but
- 24:51Speaker 2: who knows what the next days will bring.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I don't know. who's this new prospect then?
- 24:56Speaker 2: Like, cause we talked a little bit about your mom's
- 24:58Speaker 2: fight at the bar.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Oh yes, yes, yes.
- 25:00Speaker 1: So this is something I have mentioned on the podcast before.
- 25:03Speaker 1: So do you guys remember this would have been maybe
- 25:06Speaker 1: a week or two ago? No, it would've been two
- 25:08Speaker 1: weeks ago. Who was I seeing or who was I? Oh,
- 25:11Speaker 1: we were talking about Irish men. So two weeks ago,
- 25:14Speaker 1: here's your quick recap. Two weeks ago, I went to Nashville,
- 25:17Speaker 1: randomly redownloaded the apps, matched with this guy, who I
- 25:20Speaker 1: think is stalking me on Facebook, because he keeps popping
- 25:22Speaker 1: up on that suggested tab.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'm like, why is this man
- 25:26Speaker 1: looking at my Facebook? Anyway, so I matched with this
- 25:31Speaker 1: Irish guy, and he said that he was in Nashville
- 25:34Speaker 1: the same weekend I was. And I thought, that's such
- 25:37Speaker 1: a crazy coincidence. I tell him what flight I'm on.
- 25:39Speaker 1: He's like, I'm also on that flight, which I'm like,
- 25:42Speaker 1: that's insane.
- 25:43Speaker 3: That would be absolutely nuts. I show up.
- 25:45Speaker 1: He kind of went MIA. Like, he didn't text me anything.
- 25:48Speaker 1: When we were all at the airport, he didn't text
- 25:50Speaker 1: me when we landed. And I just thought that was
- 25:53Speaker 1: really sus. I'm like, it just kind of seems like
- 25:54Speaker 1: you know you're about to get caught. It just seemed
- 25:57Speaker 1: weird for you to like hype up the fact that
- 25:59Speaker 1: we're on the same flight.
- 26:00Speaker 3: And then not say anything.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And then flirt with me about it and then go,
- 26:02Speaker 1: am I? I'm like, that's really freaking weird. So I
- 26:04Speaker 1: called him out for it. He's like, I swear I
- 26:06Speaker 1: was on that flight. He gave me a couple convincing,
- 26:08Speaker 1: compelling arguments. I'm like, maybe he was. Anyway, we talk
- 26:11Speaker 1: about it on the podcast. An hour later, he has
- 26:13Speaker 1: unmatched me. So anyway, I was like, that's so sad,
- 26:16Speaker 1: but I think I'm okay because I've just matched with
- 26:18Speaker 1: this guy who is so perfect on paper. That's very
- 26:23Speaker 1: important to say because he's perfect on paper. He's a
- 26:26Speaker 1: little bit older than me. He has a very good job.
- 26:29Speaker 1: I mean, I could retire, but not just that, but
- 26:34Speaker 1: he's also hot. He's exactly my type. Think of exactly
- 26:37Speaker 1: the type of guy I describe all the time. Tall,
- 26:40Speaker 1: floppy brown hair, the things.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Good Lord.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Hot.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Um, and he asked me out like immediately, which I love.
- 26:46Speaker 1: He was like, Hey, have you been to blah, blah,
- 26:48Speaker 1: blah for dinner and drinks? I'm like, no, but I,
- 26:50Speaker 1: I walked by it all the time. We should go.
- 26:52Speaker 1: He doesn't say anything. And I'm so upset by this.
- 26:55Speaker 3: What the hell? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 26:56Speaker 3: So he puts out the option and then just.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Well, he didn't specifically ask me out and he said,
- 27:01Speaker 1: have you been to blank for blah, blah, blah. And
- 27:04Speaker 1: I said, no, but I walked by it all the time.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I lived down the street from it. And then he
- 27:08Speaker 1: didn't respond after that. I was very upset.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Damn, that's a weird stop. Okay. Yeah. So what happens?
- 27:13Speaker 1: And so I was like, well, damn, my husband rejected me.
- 27:15Speaker 3: He's playing hard to get.
- 27:17Speaker 1: So anyway, we, the story that we told two days ago, sorry,
- 27:20Speaker 1: we're really, you're just gonna have to go binge the
- 27:22Speaker 1: podcast if you need to get caught up, but I'll
- 27:24Speaker 1: give you a quick recap. Thursday, my mom and I
- 27:27Speaker 1: went out to drinks and we bumped into some very
- 27:30Speaker 1: prominent Tampa Bay athletes.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Absolutely insane it doesn't happen to everybody.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Some of the biggest names in Tampa my mom got
- 27:37Speaker 1: in a fight with one of them it's a whole
- 27:38Speaker 1: thing but while we were out that night before we
- 27:42Speaker 1: met the Tampa Bay athletes I was meeting a new
- 27:44Speaker 1: friend who happens to be the best friend of our
- 27:47Speaker 1: boss Jenna who I I didn't know this so I'm
- 27:51Speaker 1: talking to my friend we'll call him um E E
- 27:54Speaker 1: is best friends with our boss Jenna and her sister
- 27:58Speaker 1: but I didn't know this I'm just sitting at a
- 27:59Speaker 1: dive bar on DI and um There's all these guys
- 28:03Speaker 1: that are bikers. People love to bike on DI because
- 28:06Speaker 1: there's a lot of bike lanes. And so we just
- 28:08Speaker 1: started talking to him and his friends. And we were
- 28:10Speaker 1: having such a good time with him that he followed
- 28:13Speaker 1: us inside when we were going on our big Tampa
- 28:15Speaker 1: Bay athlete adventure. My mom was like, I want to
- 28:16Speaker 1: approach him and talk to him. So I'm sitting there
- 28:19Speaker 1: with this guy, E, and he happens to be in
- 28:21Speaker 1: the same profession as The guy who rejected me. Or
- 28:25Speaker 1: did not reject me. The guy who ghosted me on Hinge.
- 28:27Speaker 3: That you matched with.
- 28:28Speaker 1: That is perfect on paper. Who asked me out, kind of.
- 28:30Speaker 3: That's a damn good job that could make Abby retire.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So, we're sitting there. And I said, you know, it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: so funny that you work in that profession. My best
- 28:38Speaker 1: friend also works in that profession. And I just matched
- 28:40Speaker 1: with this ridiculously hot guy who ghosted me. I'm very
- 28:43Speaker 1: upset by it. And he goes... Because I mentioned his school.
- 28:46Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, he went to this school and
- 28:48Speaker 1: this school. And he's, like, very well educated. And he goes.
- 28:54Speaker 3: That's so ridiculous.
- 28:55Speaker 1: First and last name, name dropped. And I go, yeah.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And he goes, that's one of my best friends.
- 29:00Speaker 3: That's insane. Like this is literally the universe. Like, all right, Abby,
- 29:04Speaker 3: it's time to give you.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Some good the universe was was like stick it out
- 29:09Speaker 1: abby you're gonna be fine because literally that day i
- 29:10Speaker 1: was like i don't think i can do this anymore
- 29:11Speaker 1: like i just want to go like to retire somewhere
- 29:13Speaker 1: and like lay on a beach and then literally that
- 29:16Speaker 1: day all these things started happening and falling into place
- 29:19Speaker 1: and then this guy's like yeah i'm like best friends
- 29:20Speaker 1: with that guy i'm gonna text him right now so
- 29:23Speaker 1: i don't know what he texted that guy because i
- 29:25Speaker 1: think i said hey are you like telling him that
- 29:26Speaker 1: you're here with me like what are you doing he
- 29:27Speaker 1: says no no i'm just touching base because he also
- 29:30Speaker 1: said i thought that guy had a girlfriend.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Oh, sugar. Okay. Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And so I'm like, well, maybe they broke up.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Didn't he say he's like good? friends with a.
- 29:41Speaker 1: He said one of my best friends which he could
- 29:43Speaker 1: have just been saying that I don't know but I
- 29:47Speaker 1: mean he also said that he was best friends with
- 29:48Speaker 1: Jenna and Jenna was like oh yeah it's one of
- 29:50Speaker 1: my best friends.
- 29:51Speaker 2: It's possible that he might have been in a relationship
- 29:53Speaker 2: and it recently ended and then the first thing he
- 29:55Speaker 2: did is hop on.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yes 100% or he's thinking about I mean I don't
- 29:59Speaker 1: know that I like this but he's thinking about leaving
- 30:01Speaker 1: the relationship and he's just kind of like what's going
- 30:05Speaker 1: on or maybe she dumped him and he's sad and
- 30:06Speaker 1: he needs a rebound I don't even know All I
- 30:09Speaker 1: know is he thought he had a girlfriend. He texted
- 30:14Speaker 1: him something just like kind of casual. And he's like,
- 30:16Speaker 1: we're going to make something happen if he's single. And
- 30:18Speaker 1: so I don't know. That's the last that I heard
- 30:21Speaker 1: from him. I'm going to see this guy again in
- 30:23Speaker 1: two weeks. We're going to hang out. Not the guy
- 30:24Speaker 1: that I want to date the most.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Gay guy. Damn it. I was going to say, I
- 30:28Speaker 3: was like, why two weeks? But I was like, oh yeah, Italy.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Because Italy, yeah. But that's so much time.
- 30:33Speaker 1: It's so much time. I know I tried to get
- 30:34Speaker 1: him to come out to St. Pete today, but he
- 30:36Speaker 1: has a big boy job and he works until like nine.
- 30:38Speaker 3: That's crazy. Is this guy, is he gay, straight?
- 30:41Speaker 4: Gay.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Super gay. Like a superhero.
- 30:46Speaker 3: Damn, that's crazy.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Do you want to hear something funny? So he's straight passing.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Like you would look at him and you wouldn't be like,
- 30:50Speaker 1: that's like a flaming gay. And we were sitting there
- 30:54Speaker 1: with the, I was sitting with him while my mom
- 30:56Speaker 1: was like schmoozing the Tampa Bay athletes. And as I
- 31:00Speaker 1: failed to pull my mom over and get her away
- 31:03Speaker 1: from the Tampa Bay athletes, I'm like, okay, now I
- 31:04Speaker 1: have to lean into this whole thing. And I saw them.
- 31:07Speaker 1: I was like, oh, wait, they're kind of cute. And
- 31:08Speaker 1: I was like, they're going to think this is my boyfriend.
- 31:10Speaker 1: And I think at one point I like pointed at
- 31:12Speaker 1: E and I go, he's gay. That's a gay man.
- 31:15Speaker 1: We're not dating.
- 31:16Speaker 4: I swear.
- 31:16Speaker 3: We're not dating.
- 31:17Speaker 1: He's gay.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I mean, goodness gracious. The universe is... I think it
- 31:24Speaker 2: is really working in your favor right now.
- 31:25Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 31:26Speaker 3: It's trying to line it up. It's trying to make
- 31:28Speaker 3: it happen.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I still need to break the news to our promotions guy,
- 31:32Speaker 1: Mike O. I need to tell him. I'm like, I
- 31:33Speaker 1: don't know that I can interview those athletes again.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Oh, you didn't tell him yet what happened?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Well, I went to his office yesterday because I was
- 31:38Speaker 1: going to go... see about a cruise cause I'm trying
- 31:41Speaker 1: to put a girls and gays cruise together next year
- 31:42Speaker 1: oh there you go yeah yeah and he wasn't in
- 31:44Speaker 1: his office so I'm like I gotta swing him back again.
- 31:46Speaker 3: And let him know what's happened just tell him to
- 31:47Speaker 3: catch up on the podcast.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Be like Mike um I hate to break it to
- 31:50Speaker 1: you but I think I fucked this up.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I didn't mean to it wasn't me.
- 31:55Speaker 2: But by adjacent it was you damn so when you
- 31:58Speaker 2: get together with this your new friend your new gay
- 32:01Speaker 2: friend is the plan in two weeks to like all
- 32:05Speaker 2: do something together.
- 32:06Speaker 1: No I think he's gonna come on Bays on Bayshore Oh, okay. Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 1: but he had a procedure done this week, and he's like,
- 32:13Speaker 1: I don't want to go while I'm not feeling great.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:16Speaker 3: And he hasn't given you an update of what his
- 32:17Speaker 3: best friend said.
- 32:18Speaker 1: No, so I'm assuming he has a girlfriend.
- 32:20Speaker 2: That's so crazy.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but they might not be that close. He might
- 32:23Speaker 1: have just been, you know, drinking and said, hey, we're
- 32:26Speaker 1: really close.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Yeah, like we're so good friends.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or, oh, man. He's so lovely, though.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I know he's Jenna's best friend, but I'm going to
- 32:31Speaker 1: make him my best friend now.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Oh, yeah?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Just add him to your roster?
- 32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like, come hang out with me.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Ah.
- 32:35Speaker 3: That's so crazy.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I know.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 32:37Speaker 1: I'm going to set him up with someone because I
- 32:38Speaker 1: was showing him Bazan Bajor.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Oh, is he single?
- 32:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he's single. So I was like, pick a gay.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I'll set you up with a gay.
- 32:43Speaker 3: There's a lot on Bazan Bajor.
- 32:44Speaker 1: The gays love Bazan Bajor. I need more straight men,
- 32:47Speaker 1: but yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Well, you know what's funny? It's not funny, actually.
- 32:50Speaker 2: It's very tragic, but it's hard dating all over the.
- 32:54Speaker 3: I hear... Dating as you're gay in St.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Pete and Tampa is absolutely tragic right now.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Yeah, because dating in Tampa, it's already a small pool.
- 33:01Speaker 1: And then add being gay into the mix, and it's
- 33:04Speaker 1: just insane.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Like nobody's having success on either side of sexuality. It's
- 33:08Speaker 2: crazy to hear the stories.
- 33:09Speaker 1: I know. So if you have someone, hold on to
- 33:11Speaker 1: them tight.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Don't let them go.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Don't let them go.
- 33:13Speaker 2: In a weird obsession way. Well, honestly, we still have
- 33:17Speaker 2: a couple more podcasts. One more before Italy?
- 33:20Speaker 1: We have one more. So I guess I'm going to
- 33:21Speaker 1: post this. It'll be Thursday when this goes live. So
- 33:24Speaker 1: we'll have one that gets posted for next week. So
- 33:26Speaker 1: I guess that'll hold you over.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Oh, just for a little bit.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I'll put it on Wednesday so it's like the middle
- 33:31Speaker 1: of the week.
- 33:31Speaker 3: And then there's going to be plenty more once you
- 33:33Speaker 3: come back from Italy.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you'll get fed after Italy.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Maybe. So just fast a little. You just let your
- 33:39Speaker 3: body reset. You come back with an Italian man.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I say that every year.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Well, how many times have you been to Italy? You know? Yeah. Twice?
- 33:48Speaker 1: I always have some kind of vacation showmance or what
- 33:51Speaker 1: is it called? Vacation manse?
- 33:52Speaker 3: Even when you're going out on these girls trips?
- 33:54Speaker 1: Maybe not in Greece. I don't think I had a
- 33:56Speaker 1: situation ship.
- 33:57Speaker 3: You know what?
- 33:57Speaker 1: I did have one in London and that was really sad.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Just me and the London boys constantly. So when you, girls,
- 34:03Speaker 1: if you're listening to this and you're going on the trip,
- 34:04Speaker 1: the second you see British men come their way, just
- 34:06Speaker 1: please block me.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Push me away.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Get me away because they terrorize my life.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Well, anytime you hear one of these episodes, please feel
- 34:12Speaker 2: free to get up on Spotify or wherever you listen
- 34:14Speaker 2: and rate it. You can also leave comments. We go through,
- 34:17Speaker 2: read your comments when you can. I appreciate y'all adding
- 34:19Speaker 2: more and more every single episode.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I see you reading your phone. Are there nice comments?
- 34:23Speaker 1: Are you about to?
- 34:24Speaker 2: I'm not going to drop one of the deeper conversation ones. No,
- 34:28Speaker 2: there are nice comments. A lot of people are just
- 34:30Speaker 2: rooting you on in your dating adventures and telling you
- 34:32Speaker 2: to keep strong. And there's been a lot of questions
- 34:34Speaker 2: recently about the show podcast. We do a podcast for
- 34:38Speaker 2: the show. And just to clarify that pretty easily, this
- 34:41Speaker 2: gives you way more than what we could offer on
- 34:43Speaker 2: the show for a podcast. So once the show starts
- 34:46Speaker 2: to expand and grow, then we'll be able to put
- 34:49Speaker 2: that into another podcast.
- 34:50Speaker 1: So we have I guess we could maybe talk about
- 34:52Speaker 1: this a little bit because we had corporate come in
- 34:54Speaker 1: last week and they definitely want us to do more.
- 34:57Speaker 1: And I'm trying to figure out, like, what can they do?
- 35:00Speaker 1: Like if they're sitting here and like we want more
- 35:01Speaker 1: of a big show, like what can they do?
- 35:04Speaker 3: Should we give them an email? Oh, I mean, an
- 35:07Speaker 3: email is not bad. Numbers do the most like numbers
- 35:10Speaker 3: are going to be the thing that drives it the most. Yeah.
- 35:12Speaker 2: So it's like you continue to listen or you share this.
- 35:14Speaker 2: That'd be awesome. But that's what we take literally back
- 35:16Speaker 2: to the boss and say, here's how many people are
- 35:18Speaker 2: tuning in every single time. And obviously there's a desire
- 35:21Speaker 2: for it.
- 35:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:22Speaker 2: What can we do to make sure that, you know,
- 35:24Speaker 2: you get content that could get you through the day?
- 35:27Speaker 3: That's the whole point of this job. Now, who knows?
- 35:30Speaker 3: Maybe there's an opportunity to expand beyond Tampa.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 35:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 35:33Speaker 1: That would be great.
- 35:34Speaker 3: That would be great.
- 35:35Speaker 1: I'd like to get paid more.
- 35:36Speaker 3: That would be the goal too.
- 35:37Speaker 1: So then I can go to France and find a
- 35:39Speaker 1: Frenchman and I can have stories about Frenchmen.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Oh, there you go. Have you been to France yet?
- 35:43Speaker 1: No, I think I'm, I think I'm going to do, okay,
- 35:46Speaker 1: just to let you in behind the scenes. I plan
- 35:47Speaker 1: a Europe trip every year for the last couple of years.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I don't know if people are sick of Europe. So
- 35:51Speaker 1: I'm like, do I need to pivot to something else?
- 35:55Speaker 1: South Africa got thrown out there. Japan got thrown out there.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Europe's just freaking gorgeous i just really love europe and
- 36:00Speaker 4: it's easy japan is so hard to get to that
- 36:04Speaker 4: i'm like maybe i'll plan i think in 2029 what's
- 36:06Speaker 4: what's next year 2028 yeah 2028 i'll have some.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Pretty lofty trips 2027 2027 oh god why am i
- 36:10Speaker 1: like jumping ahead i think in 2028 I'll probably plan
- 36:21Speaker 1: a Japan trip and then one other big one that
- 36:24Speaker 1: won't be like super crazy, but it might be more expensive.
- 36:27Speaker 2: You know what's so wild to think about that is
- 36:28Speaker 2: like there is so much that could.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Happen between now and then.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Like what?
- 36:34Speaker 3: I mean, think how much has your life changed in
- 36:36Speaker 3: the past three years?
- 36:37Speaker 1: Don't tell me. Don't tell me that.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Okay, well, think ahead.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I can't get fired again, Scott. I already was depressed.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I'm just getting out of my depression.
- 36:45Speaker 3: You're not getting fired. It's not too late to go back.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Okay, pulling you back out of that. No, I think
- 36:50Speaker 2: it's exciting to see, like, oh, my God. Like, that's
- 36:53Speaker 2: a lot of time.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You'll be married by then.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Anytime you listen to the podcast.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Scott's getting engaged in 2027. You heard it here first.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Anyway, thanks for listening to the podcast. We'll have more coming.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Summer proposal.
