- 0:33Speaker 2: Oh, when I hear mistenderism, I think something much bigger
- 0:36Speaker 2: than If you don't replicate yourself, how can you steal?
- 0:39Speaker 1: If you wake up in the mountain, See, you can't
- 0:41Speaker 1: say what's gonna happen, cause we don't know if I
- 0:43Speaker 1: can teach how many of your kids out here in
- 0:45Speaker 1: the world, if they learn this trade just cooking thing,
- 0:48Speaker 1: two things go together them upstad and food that brings
- 0:51Speaker 1: love at the end of that love tendonism.
- 0:55Speaker 2: When I did the podcast with you all, I was
- 0:57Speaker 2: telling you probably the most impactful interview I've done in
- 1:03Speaker 2: my career.
- 1:04Speaker 4: He rolls.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Now, that's real, he wrote.
- 1:07Speaker 5: I heard shot of Troy talk about the tax letters,
- 1:09Speaker 5: talk about finance.
- 1:11Speaker 2: But we talk in a language that is common to
- 1:13Speaker 2: the people that's from the community that we grew up with.
- 1:16Speaker 4: You all are the bright spot.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Thank you, Thank Lewership for Black Americans.
- 1:22Speaker 1: This is the knowledge that actually matters.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I flawed both of you for this.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Saying, Lacy, isn't it a country issue, It's not an American issue,
- 1:31Speaker 2: It's a world issue.
- 1:31Speaker 1: He came to earn Lisa.
- 1:40Speaker 5: All Right, guys, welcome back eyl is a special special episode.
- 1:44Speaker 5: First of all, shout out to Lisa. I called her
- 1:47Speaker 5: our text her two days ago. And actually it's just
- 1:50Speaker 5: just kind of happened organically. So somebody I've been wanting
- 1:54Speaker 5: to talk to. I know we've been wanting to talk
- 1:55Speaker 5: to for a while, especially with everything that's been going on.
- 1:57Speaker 5: So I think it's a lot of lessons that are
- 2:00Speaker 5: entrepreneurs and creatives and people in the world can learn
- 2:03Speaker 5: from from a marketing standpoint, from a business standpoint, just
- 2:06Speaker 5: from a viral sensation standpoint, A lot a lot going on.
- 2:10Speaker 5: So Walter Johnson missed the tenderism this yeah something my.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Brother, did you think raim to play with you? Oh?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Man? Looking here, I'm just tender raster room. That's just
- 2:21Speaker 1: having a little tenderness.
- 2:22Speaker 4: That's up.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Happy you here, hey man, I'm happy to be here. Man,
- 2:27Speaker 1: this is this is all all right? Yes, yes, well
- 2:30Speaker 1: that's what I'm childing by.
- 2:32Speaker 4: That's what a man a way.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He knows his way around town A little bit, a
- 2:36Speaker 1: little bit, not much.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Well, yeah, thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. So
- 2:42Speaker 5: all right, let's let's let's get into it. People know
- 2:44Speaker 5: they know you on social media, but I don't think
- 2:47Speaker 5: a lot of people know your backstory. I just found
- 2:48Speaker 5: out that she was from Indiana. So tell us your backstory.
- 2:52Speaker 5: And I know you've been involved in cooking barbecue for
- 2:54Speaker 5: fifty years, right, that's about correct. So so how did
- 2:57Speaker 5: you how did you get started? And yeah, walk us
- 3:00Speaker 5: through your journey as far as being a cook, I.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Was a little I was a little kid and as
- 3:06Speaker 1: my brother never had a Porky's pig. It was in
- 3:09Speaker 1: a place called Robertvillellinois, and maywood. So I used to
- 3:13Speaker 1: cut the wings flap off, so shot I want to
- 3:16Speaker 1: learn that. I ate a few of them. I ate
- 3:19Speaker 1: a few and so ever since there, it's just intrigued me.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I said, well, you got electricians, you know water plumbers,
- 3:31Speaker 1: So what kind of job food? It's three things. You
- 3:36Speaker 1: need water, you need electrical, and you gotta eat. So
- 3:40Speaker 1: which one was easier for me? The eating part? So
- 3:43Speaker 1: I liked the cook and field and I went into it.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I went into it with love.
- 3:48Speaker 4: You know.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I want everybody to be happy when they finished, sit
- 3:51Speaker 1: down eating what I got, you know, I mean I
- 3:53Speaker 1: wanted to be happy, smiled on their face, patting their feet, kids,
- 3:56Speaker 1: grown up, seeing citizens people, and got no teeth because
- 4:00Speaker 1: you don't need no tea for the meat. It took
- 4:02Speaker 1: me some time to get to that pump, but you
- 4:04Speaker 1: don't need nothing now, yep. And so over the years,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I probably cooked in majority of the states in the
- 4:12Speaker 1: United States to learn different trades about this cooking thing.
- 4:16Speaker 2: I was gonna talk to you about that, but I
- 4:18Speaker 2: can't go any further without acknowledging the drip here. No,
- 4:21Speaker 2: we're just not going not acknowledge that we see you
- 4:24Speaker 2: in the pinch tricks with the shoes. Everything looks good.
- 4:28Speaker 2: The love is in the are I could feel it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: The people are here. Food has brought you all around
- 4:32Speaker 2: the world, right all around the United States for sure.
- 4:34Speaker 2: You said you've been there at least in every state
- 4:36Speaker 2: eight times, at least as you're traveling, because you're not
- 4:39Speaker 2: just a cook, you're a pitmaster. Yeah, that's a little
- 4:42Speaker 2: different than just a regular cook. Are you learning each
- 4:46Speaker 2: state about flavor?
- 4:47Speaker 1: Like?
- 4:47Speaker 4: What are you doing as you're traveling?
- 4:49Speaker 1: I went to all the Southern states. First I went
- 4:52Speaker 1: down I was in New Eisiana. I went to New Bayou.
- 4:57Speaker 1: God wanted to get that cage in twist. And then
- 5:00Speaker 1: I went to Carolina. They got a little thing they
- 5:02Speaker 1: used like vinegar and their saucers and stuff. Then I
- 5:05Speaker 1: went to Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, on places down there, Arkansas.
- 5:11Speaker 1: So I stayed in these state so I can get
- 5:13Speaker 1: a twist on what they used. In my head, if
- 5:16Speaker 1: I can get these twists and blend them all together,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I might have some So I tried it. So I
- 5:24Speaker 1: took the Southern and went back to the Midwest. I mean.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It worked.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Then I said, well, I have to go out by
- 5:32Speaker 1: the Rockies. I went to Colorado, not too bad. Then
- 5:38Speaker 1: I came over in rockets to Vegas. You talk all
- 5:42Speaker 1: the little places, so you know, a variety of people
- 5:45Speaker 1: eat different food. I wanted to learn how to cook
- 5:47Speaker 1: it all. So but I blended together with them. Seasoning
- 5:52Speaker 1: boot yi boil, local hill tendanism, tendanism. Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 5: So when you travel all across the Curry Street, are
- 6:01Speaker 5: you working at different restaurants?
- 6:03Speaker 1: So I worked at a mini restaurants, opened a lot
- 6:05Speaker 1: of ie hoops, I opened a lot of Denny's, opened
- 6:09Speaker 1: a lot of a whole lot of places. Man Look,
- 6:12Speaker 1: Ruby Steakhouse, Man Blue Smoke, Downtown Manhattan, in New York,
- 6:20Speaker 1: New York, Paul Avenue.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, what what flavors did you take from New York
- 6:26Speaker 2: man We New Yorker's. You've been there a lot. The
- 6:28Speaker 2: Southern flavor is very distinct Louisiana for sure.
- 6:32Speaker 4: What did you take from us?
- 6:34Speaker 1: What did I take from y'all? Y'all got different spices
- 6:37Speaker 1: up here, this kind of difference because you got a
- 6:40Speaker 1: blend of people. They call this the meltone pot, right, yes, sir,
- 6:43Speaker 1: So that all these people come together. So I come
- 6:46Speaker 1: up here and say oh yeah, we got this here.
- 6:49Speaker 1: See I went to Spanish Haller, then I came over
- 6:51Speaker 1: here to Holland, then I went back to Manhattan, Brooklyn,
- 6:55Speaker 1: the Queen Staten Island, Coney Island, those same steak kind
- 7:02Speaker 1: of begs. That's why they named it twice. But I say,
- 7:05Speaker 1: everybody got some flavors. Now I got to entwine out here,
- 7:10Speaker 1: some of them seasons because some people it can't be
- 7:13Speaker 1: too hot, can't be too spicy. So how can I
- 7:16Speaker 1: cut it down and put it back in what I
- 7:19Speaker 1: was doing? And I figured it out though. Man, it
- 7:23Speaker 1: didn't take a rocket sizer for a minute, you know
- 7:25Speaker 1: what I mean. Then it came together. I said, oh,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I got them too. And so once you get to
- 7:30Speaker 1: blending all this stuff together, you got to be like
- 7:32Speaker 1: a sample. You got a sample a whole lot of season.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So people don't understand that we put all these seasons together.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Don't make no difference. But if the season don't taste
- 7:45Speaker 1: right from the season itself, then you might have a
- 7:49Speaker 1: little twist. And then you got different type of some meat.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Pork it's one. Then you got beef, then you got poultry,
- 7:56Speaker 1: then you got fish. So you got to cand of
- 7:59Speaker 1: which season go right, which piece of meat? Just like wine,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you can't drag wine with everything. But if you got
- 8:07Speaker 1: a nice steak and the wine kind of mellow, yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 1: that go pretty good. Then you find out brandy go
- 8:15Speaker 1: good too. Brandy go good in some of the seasons.
- 8:19Speaker 1: You just gotta drive. Can't tell you all that, but yeah, yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: that's all not the cigaret sauce.
- 8:26Speaker 5: So you've been so you've been traveling all around America.
- 8:28Speaker 5: You've been learning, you've been picking up different game from
- 8:31Speaker 5: different places. When social media finds out about you, it's
- 8:36Speaker 5: in California. Tenderism, Yeah, your tenderism campaign, right, so all right,
- 8:42Speaker 5: when you came.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Up with the work one and only tendonaism black dive,
- 8:49Speaker 1: that's right. You don't need no teeth for the meat.
- 8:51Speaker 5: So so so explain it. Explain the tenderism, explaining is
- 8:55Speaker 5: that what that means? And how did you how did
- 8:57Speaker 5: you come up with that?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Oh, guys, box tails. So the oxtail come out. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: had on the plate, so I was from the roller.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I mean pick it up like this. As I was
- 9:10Speaker 1: gonna pick it up, it just rolled up like you
- 9:12Speaker 1: pilll the orange. So it kind of like went out
- 9:16Speaker 1: like a bowling ball. I ain't the meat in my hand,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and the mom just rolled to the other side of
- 9:21Speaker 1: the plate. I say, boy, this ain't tender. This is tendinism,
- 9:26Speaker 1: and that word then stuck in everybody's bra ain't there
- 9:29Speaker 1: it's tending this. I want tend rass the world. And
- 9:32Speaker 1: I appreciate all the people out here that supporting me.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Hey boy, look at it like the tender rast their
- 9:37Speaker 1: whole household. Yes, sir, I love the word.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I think what I love the most is the reaction
- 9:42Speaker 2: after you said like god damn, Like that reaction.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Is what got me in.
- 9:47Speaker 2: It became mean. I'm wondering as you're doing it. I
- 9:50Speaker 2: feel like this is naturally what you're doing. Are you
- 9:53Speaker 2: aware of social media at the time, Like are you
- 9:55Speaker 2: involved in it? Like how do you feel as this
- 9:58Speaker 2: thing is now going viral? Because like if I try
- 10:01Speaker 2: to explain virality to my parents, they're like what to
- 10:04Speaker 2: like are you are you in the game understanding what's happening.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I understand the far as viral. I know the words
- 10:10Speaker 1: mean because we'd go to school when I was coming up,
- 10:12Speaker 1: but we didn't have no social media or nothing like that,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and the viral and up and then you know, I'm
- 10:18Speaker 1: getting a little up in age. Yeah, there's a whole
- 10:21Speaker 1: lot of stuff to read now. I don't know matter
- 10:24Speaker 1: about viral, man. So I said, what's the viral something. Oh,
- 10:28Speaker 1: that's when you get so many, so many of these.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I said, okay, so you gotta have followers, y'all have reviews.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I said, no, you know nothing about it happened to
- 10:37Speaker 1: be straight up with you, it's the viral shoot. I
- 10:41Speaker 1: thought I was trying to sell ox tail everyone to
- 10:43Speaker 1: win viral. You know, I may have been all.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Right, that's so, what was the moment that you knew
- 10:49Speaker 5: like was it one moment because I don't know the
- 10:51Speaker 5: exact moment, Like, what was the one moment.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Where it was like it just went crazy online.
- 10:56Speaker 1: That ox tell Then one time I had this beef
- 10:59Speaker 1: ridd y'all probably saying it big ball, dining South, three
- 11:02Speaker 1: glasses sluck man. Look, I got pound right now. If
- 11:07Speaker 1: I hear some of the marxtails here, y'all would be
- 11:09Speaker 1: slackening the boy. We bet the total little glasses up.
- 11:11Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Because hey, when I dropped
- 11:15Speaker 1: that that ball, it was too tender mind that's tender theirs.
- 11:20Speaker 1: About else boy, that was tending theirs on the big ball.
- 11:23Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I said, oh, it got
- 11:25Speaker 1: something here. And then people just started flocking. They coming
- 11:29Speaker 1: from there. Well here, people come from Hong Kong, yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 1: a Germany, uh, China.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 1: They seen the video in their countries. They worked for
- 11:40Speaker 1: a company, Fisher company. It was engineered. They said, Man,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'll be here every time I come back, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 1: come to California. I said, it's good. I appreciate it.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Tender news. I knew. I knew I was own something
- 11:57Speaker 1: about eight little guys, eighty Chinese guys. And they was talking.
- 12:05Speaker 1: They was trying to say ten nils. So say, oh, okay,
- 12:09Speaker 1: tending NILSM. Brother, tending NAILSM. And you know, doing a
- 12:12Speaker 1: little thing you did get all man, it went crazy
- 12:15Speaker 1: from there.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Are you as this is happening?
- 12:17Speaker 2: Are you realizing people are coming to taste what you've created,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but they're also coming to see the personality?
- 12:24Speaker 4: Are you? How are you dealing with that? Man?
- 12:26Speaker 1: They come on, man, I'm gonna be the same way. Man,
- 12:28Speaker 1: twenty four seven, seven days a week. I can't change this.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Ain't no faith, you see me. Now you see me
- 12:35Speaker 1: later on the night, I'm be saved. Don't make no different.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Well man, So I just look at it like, hey,
- 12:41Speaker 1: this is really not hard to do, not being me,
- 12:44Speaker 1: it's so hey, I take it off stride.
- 12:47Speaker 5: When you saw the lines wrapped around the block, like
- 12:49Speaker 5: you said, people coming from China in different parts of
- 12:51Speaker 5: the world.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Now you do it.
- 12:54Speaker 5: You're just doing it, and then you realize that it's big.
- 12:57Speaker 5: At what point do you think, like, wow, this this
- 12:59Speaker 5: is really something that you know. I didn't even think
- 13:03Speaker 5: it was gonna be this big.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I never grat I never even thought thought or
- 13:07Speaker 1: thought about it, you know what I mean. It wasn't
- 13:09Speaker 1: a thought. Man, look at this family like mine. I
- 13:11Speaker 1: got in my hair, man a little bit. What but
- 13:14Speaker 1: how many people? Wow? Now that's crazy. Then I just
- 13:19Speaker 1: got to think it about hey, personality. I can't say
- 13:25Speaker 1: it because I'm just me. So my personality it's going
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's impossible to change.
- 13:29Speaker 5: How easy is it for you to shoot a video?
- 13:31Speaker 5: Like is it like one take? Or like do you
- 13:33Speaker 5: actually have to do it different? Like okay, let me
- 13:36Speaker 5: let me do it.
- 13:37Speaker 1: No, just come on with it. I'm gonna get it, Jack,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it on there just like it is.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I ain't gonna fake it. I ain't gonna gonna read
- 13:43Speaker 1: no scripts or none of that. I'm gonna tell you.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Just whatever comes to your argument.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Man, Look it comes out hard, come out of my mouth.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I'm spitting it too. I'm
- 13:51Speaker 1: spitting strong. I ain't be playing with defaults.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Who Who's Who's saying like, let's make another video because
- 13:55Speaker 2: after the first one goes crazy? Right, is there somebody
- 13:59Speaker 2: in the restaurant? Is it somebody in the family or
- 14:01Speaker 2: the team saying like that was crazy?
- 14:03Speaker 4: Let's do this again.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been people come around saying, man, you shoot
- 14:08Speaker 1: the video. Yeah, we shoot the video. Can you shoot
- 14:12Speaker 1: the video? You can't you shoot the video?
- 14:15Speaker 4: Say?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Wow, what's all he's shooting these videos by you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I don't know about shooting man camera WHOA Then kind
- 14:22Speaker 1: of found out, Hey, this is new TV. I said, well, hey,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I might well get all everybody else out. Look here,
- 14:29Speaker 1: let's tend to rise the world. That's just tend to
- 14:32Speaker 1: rise the world. And for really, your teeth at home.
- 14:35Speaker 1: You don't need no teeth for the me. No no, and.
- 14:40Speaker 3: No teeth for the me.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Let's talk about Keith Lee because I know that you
- 14:45Speaker 5: met a lot of celebrities, but there was one turning
- 14:48Speaker 5: point Keith Lee. You know, he's very.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Influential in full review.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Who did you?
- 14:54Speaker 3: How did that change everything?
- 14:56Speaker 4: Like?
- 14:56Speaker 1: How did Keith Lee's review change everything? Well, I'm tell
- 14:59Speaker 1: you you know, I'm gonna spend it from the hill.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I was an ed. I mean, he's like a rapper
- 15:05Speaker 1: outlook right, that's right now, we just like our next door.
- 15:10Speaker 1: There's a wall divide us. Well, we're shooting. He has
- 15:13Speaker 1: a restaurant. No, we were shooting the podcast. Okay, okay, okay,
- 15:16Speaker 1: all right, and so Lee come back Keith to see me.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I didn't know he was gonna give me no money
- 15:25Speaker 1: or nothing or even you know, no offer. But I
- 15:28Speaker 1: look at it like this, any person to come to
- 15:31Speaker 1: see me, it's no block you know, I don't have
- 15:35Speaker 1: a blocker. Just come see me. You So, whoever working,
- 15:39Speaker 1: whoever they work, you go, hey, hold on, shot, can
- 15:43Speaker 1: let me go get walk?
- 15:44Speaker 3: Bring you back?
- 15:45Speaker 1: You know they have to give me a quarter. It's
- 15:47Speaker 1: just a pun.
- 15:48Speaker 6: Uh.
- 15:49Speaker 1: You came to see me.
- 15:51Speaker 4: That's all.
- 15:51Speaker 1: This is enough for me. There's just been a bonus,
- 15:54Speaker 1: and so when he came they could give me the money.
- 15:58Speaker 5: It's like, what it's a four thousand dollars, yes, sir, yes, sir,
- 16:02Speaker 5: that's what they said it was.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I didn't never see the money.
- 16:04Speaker 4: You didn't.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I talked to mister Lee since then, but y'all never
- 16:09Speaker 1: discussed any money value. But yeah, it was four thousand.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Dollars, so you didn't take the money.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I never seen the money. Yeah. But if hey Lee,
- 16:19Speaker 1: if you're out there, no, I'm just playing, man. You
- 16:23Speaker 1: can reach me nine five five five four two two now,
- 16:27Speaker 1: I'm just playing. You know, y'all you gotta have a
- 16:28Speaker 1: little fuck. Hey hey man. But other than that, yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 1: it made a turning point, and that turning point got
- 16:36Speaker 1: me here. See the Lord don't make mistakes. I didn't
- 16:41Speaker 1: make now with ten in theirs, and I ain't making
- 16:44Speaker 1: now on this move. I don't cry about yesterday. I
- 16:47Speaker 1: just keep going forward.
- 16:49Speaker 4: He did.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I ain't don't need a crime. It ain't gonna help.
- 16:52Speaker 1: So get get it together. And that's what I've been
- 16:56Speaker 1: trying to do.
- 16:56Speaker 4: It during this process.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Obviously, as social media is going crazy about it, people
- 17:02Speaker 2: are trying to figure out how to get to the restaurant.
- 17:03Speaker 2: People are showing up at the restaurant. I'm sure that's
- 17:05Speaker 2: bringing a lot of money for the restaurant. People are
- 17:07Speaker 2: coming to see you. The idea of ownership comes into
- 17:10Speaker 2: the conversation. Does he own the restaurant? At that point?
- 17:13Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure throughout the career, it's fifty years
- 17:16Speaker 2: a long time of being a pitmaster? Are you thinking
- 17:18Speaker 2: let me create my own restaurant? And did this intensify
- 17:21Speaker 2: that thought or how did you?
- 17:23Speaker 1: They definitely intensified the thought, you know, because hey, look
- 17:26Speaker 1: at here, I can go in the backyard right now,
- 17:30Speaker 1: do this? Im This ain't no practice, I don't know.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Most like I need is the equipment and a few
- 17:36Speaker 1: pieces of wood, like them trees outside. But I tend
- 17:39Speaker 1: to rise holl them today, not tomorrow right away. That's right.
- 17:44Speaker 5: So when people found out that you were not to
- 17:46Speaker 5: own it, they made a lot of news on social media, right, So,
- 17:50Speaker 5: I'm sure a lot of people restarted to reach out
- 17:52Speaker 5: to you. So was that like the turning point in
- 17:56Speaker 5: the why you actually left the establishment?
- 17:59Speaker 1: That was that and a person not giving me consideration
- 18:05Speaker 1: due to it? It was two people and a few people, now,
- 18:09Speaker 1: you know, what I mean. Well, you know that was
- 18:12Speaker 1: kind of like bogush. I thought, See, because if I
- 18:15Speaker 1: want to talk to you, I'm gonna talk to you.
- 18:18Speaker 1: This man can't accept me talking. You don't speak for me,
- 18:23Speaker 1: So I can understand that.
- 18:26Speaker 3: The equity like ownership.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know, I don't own nothing. I know
- 18:32Speaker 1: one thing, only thing. I don't dirt up under my fingernail.
- 18:36Speaker 1: So now I might try to do something out there.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Give me a mister tender nails and restaurer, and then
- 18:44Speaker 1: we'll see what we do. That's the possibility. But you know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I got people reaching out at me. You know, I
- 18:49Speaker 1: got some brand deals coming up, so it's a good thing.
- 18:53Speaker 2: He said, God, don't make any mistakes. I'm wondering as
- 18:56Speaker 2: you approach this conversation because a lot of times we
- 18:59Speaker 2: bring value companies. We've seen this happen plenty of times
- 19:01Speaker 2: in our community, and then we.
- 19:04Speaker 4: We never asked for equity.
- 19:05Speaker 2: The fact that you had the idea, it speaks a
- 19:07Speaker 2: lot about your character and how you're thinking about your future.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Were they receptive to it or they were just like,
- 19:12Speaker 2: that's not even the conversation worth having.
- 19:15Speaker 1: That it didn't not worth having because we had a
- 19:18Speaker 1: point to where we at right now. So I had to,
- 19:23Speaker 1: like I say, y'all, shit, I ain't want the bash folks, yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 1: because I don't have time to do that life to
- 19:29Speaker 1: show absolutely, So what you do you learn from that
- 19:32Speaker 1: little small mistake and you just move forward if you
- 19:37Speaker 1: keep moving forward. It's old saying. I was driving years ago,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but when I let that man named Jesus died driving,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I sit in the back seat. Things got to be
- 19:49Speaker 1: all got to straighten it out, you did. I have
- 19:51Speaker 1: to worry about riding into the tree, no rocks or nothing,
- 19:55Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, I take this
- 19:57Speaker 1: as a blessing, you know, And it's a bles to
- 20:00Speaker 1: be here with y'all.
- 20:01Speaker 5: It's a blessing to have you just to put it's
- 20:03Speaker 5: a learning experience even for owners, right because sometimes owners
- 20:06Speaker 5: don't value the people that they have and they lose
- 20:10Speaker 5: great you know people that's more than just an employee.
- 20:13Speaker 5: If hypothetically ownership was given to you on a on
- 20:17Speaker 5: a percentage, do you think that you would have stayed.
- 20:19Speaker 1: This is a possibility of what kind of percentage we're
- 20:22Speaker 1: talking about and what's it it? But you know, hey,
- 20:26Speaker 1: like gotta say, no, backstep in there. I gotta keep
- 20:33Speaker 1: putting shoes on one at a time.
- 20:35Speaker 4: You should do a close up on the shoes.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Hey, wait man, man, man, y'all trying to get my shoes?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Man, you do it one at a time.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Man, Hey, look hi, Hey. But anyway, Yeah, and you
- 20:45Speaker 1: keep looking forward, don't don't never look back.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Well, recently we saw you may move with the word tenderism.
- 20:52Speaker 5: That's right, So explain that because apparently there was another
- 20:56Speaker 5: brother that trademarked the word tenderism, and then he gave
- 20:59Speaker 5: it to you.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yes, the man name it's Kevin, Kevin Harris, attorney Kevin Harris,
- 21:06Speaker 1: And so I met with him and he say, I'm
- 21:11Speaker 1: gonna give you the word.
- 21:13Speaker 4: You can have it.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Fould do the paperwork. It was my word originally. Though,
- 21:19Speaker 1: seeing that and twenty four of probably the tenth month
- 21:24Speaker 1: twenty four, I fouled. Yeah, something happened with the tenant.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It wasn't me in then I guess whatever happened. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I think data'll show that though. So people was hollering
- 21:37Speaker 1: around they tendon know you ain't you ain't know what
- 21:40Speaker 1: tendant isn't come from? Yeah, that's slow and easy.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So you had previously foul for it. Yes, ah see
- 21:46Speaker 2: like that that's part of the story. The way that
- 21:47Speaker 2: the story was painted was almost like the former owners
- 21:50Speaker 2: of the owners of the restaurant try to trademark it,
- 21:53Speaker 2: and then they hell did. But this is somebody completely
- 21:55Speaker 2: separate from the situation that has That's correct, Okay, I
- 21:58Speaker 2: got you. So the legality part it is something that
- 22:00Speaker 2: you already is that something you knew from your experience
- 22:03Speaker 2: being in the space saying like, hey, this is the
- 22:05Speaker 2: word that I've created, I've got to have ownership on
- 22:07Speaker 2: it with the And this is important, the intent to use,
- 22:10Speaker 2: because I think a lot of people.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Missed that part.
- 22:12Speaker 2: They just think, oh, let me just trademarket, but they
- 22:14Speaker 2: don't understand how trademarks work. Are you intending to use
- 22:16Speaker 2: it for media merchandising, you know, anything? You ad it
- 22:20Speaker 2: with the intent to use for.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Just c I had an intended to use for meat,
- 22:27Speaker 1: anything I cooked. I don't care. He could have been
- 22:30Speaker 1: some KNA tend to ask the k you know what
- 22:33Speaker 1: I mean. But the whole point of it was you
- 22:36Speaker 1: invent something and then people will steal it as everyone no.
- 22:41Speaker 5: So so when when did he reach out to you
- 22:44Speaker 5: or how did how did that happen? How did that
- 22:46Speaker 5: connection happen? When he says, look, I trade, I'm assuming
- 22:49Speaker 5: the reason why he did it is because he saw
- 22:51Speaker 5: it going viral and he wanted to just protect it.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Is that why he did it?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I don't know's I understand it. My understanding from him, well,
- 23:00Speaker 1: he was making sure didn't nobody else do it, So
- 23:04Speaker 1: therefore we'll have it, you know, then one day we'll
- 23:08Speaker 1: meet and he'll be able to give it to me.
- 23:11Speaker 1: That was what he told me. So he reached out
- 23:16Speaker 1: to you, He reached out to a team member. You know,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I got a team and yeah, we met, he did
- 23:24Speaker 1: we said he gonna do and that's cool. Unible, Yeah
- 23:28Speaker 1: cause you know, I don't be wanna go up against nobody, man,
- 23:33Speaker 1: but I will if I have to.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I mean, this has been a pre whirlwind of the
- 23:40Speaker 2: past six to twelve months for you, having to build
- 23:43Speaker 2: a team, having to have a publisher, is doing all
- 23:45Speaker 2: these things. I mean, how did you see this in
- 23:48Speaker 2: the future where you had it? Obviously, being a pitmaster
- 23:52Speaker 2: and food is the passion. The business side is something
- 23:54Speaker 2: that most people don't learn until they're end of space.
- 23:58Speaker 4: How did you go about nowa begeton nap?
- 24:03Speaker 1: Well, it was kind of like hmmm, and doctor Joe
- 24:08Speaker 1: riached out to him and I want to talk to
- 24:11Speaker 1: see a guy named mister Ronald I. And boy, look
- 24:16Speaker 1: at him ever since he got that star on that avenue.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He put a stall on me. And I'm a ride
- 24:24Speaker 1: with it, you know what I mean? Yes, sir, I'm
- 24:27Speaker 1: a man. Look at him. I'm gonna shout it out.
- 24:30Speaker 1: And what I'm talking about.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I wanted to go to the Royn Isley Peace high.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I mean, that's are you?
- 24:36Speaker 2: I know you worked some events from him? How did
- 24:38Speaker 2: that connection to either colored dough?
- 24:41Speaker 1: Like I said? It was a guy, doctor Joe White,
- 24:44Speaker 1: and uh, he helped me out. He hooked it up.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I've seen ron and his wife. Hey, they cool in
- 24:51Speaker 1: the game, you know what I mean. So I was like, hey,
- 24:53Speaker 1: well we should have been to gather, you know what
- 24:55Speaker 1: I mean. He do the singing and I do the
- 24:58Speaker 1: tendon That's what you should have been doing. A matter
- 25:01Speaker 1: of Factucy, can't he cut me a record? The boss
- 25:04Speaker 1: that'll be showing up lie there? Yeah, I might be
- 25:07Speaker 1: able to cut a rub. That's kind of stuff I
- 25:09Speaker 1: like doing. You understand. Yeah, but that's how that came about.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And uh, since then, yeah, I had some brand office,
- 25:17Speaker 1: like you gotta go to Atlanta when I leave here,
- 25:20Speaker 1: I got some pop up I gotta do. Then we
- 25:22Speaker 1: go to Fresne, well the Atlanta and then I think
- 25:28Speaker 1: it's about next month sometime be in Houston. And then
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna see mister Lee. He had event coming up
- 25:35Speaker 1: down that way. So everything comes together like two butt cheeks.
- 25:39Speaker 1: You know what I mean. You got what I'm talking about.
- 25:43Speaker 5: So is your goal to have your own restaurant or
- 25:46Speaker 5: do you like just what you're doing now as far
- 25:48Speaker 5: as pop ups and catering events and brand deal's, like,
- 25:53Speaker 5: what's what's your what's your vision?
- 25:55Speaker 4: Hey?
- 25:55Speaker 1: Look here I want it really I want to do
- 25:59Speaker 1: a lot of celebrities. I want to do a lot
- 26:01Speaker 1: of senior citizens, you know, and people that don't you
- 26:05Speaker 1: don't have much. I want to give him something too,
- 26:09Speaker 1: because it is meat, ain't cheap. But then when everybody
- 26:12Speaker 1: get a taste of it, they say, boy, look a here,
- 26:16Speaker 1: look a here. You might have some little classes or something.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Just put put me on one of them podcasts or something.
- 26:24Speaker 1: They let me get down early in the morning. Y'all
- 26:26Speaker 1: have to watch the count of late because that's like
- 26:28Speaker 1: four o'clock in the morning when you gotta get off
- 26:31Speaker 1: and we don't want to get up like that. And
- 26:33Speaker 1: you know, I ain't getting no younger, and these hals
- 26:35Speaker 1: ain't getting no dog. Matter of fact, they're getting great,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So my wife don't even
- 26:42Speaker 1: get gone all day.
- 26:43Speaker 2: So I got you know, how often do you do
- 26:48Speaker 2: you get to stay in the kitchen or in the
- 26:50Speaker 2: pit as much as you'd like to. Obviously doing a
- 26:52Speaker 2: lot of traveling, you know you're not being able to
- 26:55Speaker 2: prepare the food at the same rate that you that
- 26:57Speaker 2: you used to do. How do you balance that after
- 27:00Speaker 2: you miss it a little bit?
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm miss cooking. Are you gonna always miss something
- 27:04Speaker 1: you love?
- 27:05Speaker 4: So?
- 27:06Speaker 1: But you gotta move on too. I can try the
- 27:11Speaker 1: person how to do that if they got some time,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and it's gonna come out tending. There's there's no where
- 27:17Speaker 1: it came from, you understand, It just takes a little time.
- 27:20Speaker 1: You gotta have love on You got that. He can't rush.
- 27:24Speaker 4: First ingredient is love.
- 27:26Speaker 1: The first ingredient is love.
- 27:27Speaker 4: I love it.
- 27:28Speaker 3: What have you learned from this?
- 27:30Speaker 5: Whole situation as far as trademarks and ownership and marketing, Like,
- 27:36Speaker 5: what's some of the things that you've learned.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I learned this right here, as we would say, I'm
- 27:44Speaker 1: true to the game. Game that came back true to me.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I just try to do the best I can. Man,
- 27:51Speaker 1: keep pushing forward. So and the thing about when you
- 27:59Speaker 1: doing something and something happened, most people look at the bad.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I look at the positive. This wouldn't have happened. It
- 28:10Speaker 1: didn't happen. It happened for a reason. So what was
- 28:14Speaker 1: the reason why that happened? Like seasoning, you know season
- 28:19Speaker 1: fishing with some beef season. You have beef season for
- 28:24Speaker 1: beef season, fish for city fish season for fish. So
- 28:29Speaker 1: it must have been my time. And look I got
- 28:35Speaker 1: already hollering from a little city called Hemmy. Can y'all
- 28:40Speaker 1: tell me what him it is?
- 28:42Speaker 4: I cannot mean either.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I ain't known about I know himy you know.
- 28:47Speaker 4: What I mean?
- 28:49Speaker 1: So, hey, I think my blessings all the time. And
- 28:54Speaker 1: thank you again, Yes, sir.
- 28:58Speaker 4: We talked about ron Isasley.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I was Lee Desi Banks, which was an incredible video
- 29:04Speaker 2: that went viral. Is there somebody that's reached out that
- 29:07Speaker 2: was surprised you or that you were taking back by
- 29:10Speaker 2: that showed you support that it was like, wow.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I'll tell you really, really, who are eyes?
- 29:19Speaker 4: That was the war?
- 29:20Speaker 1: Hey man, love to be around the gentlemen. Say, now
- 29:25Speaker 1: that's all right right here, I cut him many of
- 29:28Speaker 1: steps from the Ronald and his brothers. So man, looking,
- 29:32Speaker 1: that's beautiful. Then I just left Miss Sheppard Shelton. That's
- 29:36Speaker 1: even more lovely, you know what I mean. And I
- 29:39Speaker 1: got me way down here in the hall and that's
- 29:42Speaker 1: beautiful too. Yeah, So I had and I gotta get
- 29:46Speaker 1: on the plane and go to Atlanta. Yeah, see a
- 29:49Speaker 1: guy out there now, shout out to Steve. Steve Barbecue.
- 29:53Speaker 1: We coming, boy. We finished set it off. Yeah, I
- 29:56Speaker 1: just wanted to say that in Miami. He's anyway, Yes, sir.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Talk about like so many times people don't understand the
- 30:04Speaker 5: overnight success. They use the word overnight success. So it
- 30:08Speaker 5: literally took you fifty years, right, fifty years of traveling
- 30:12Speaker 5: to every state in the country and working at every
- 30:14Speaker 5: type of restaurant to hit your moment where now you're
- 30:18Speaker 5: becoming an online sensation and that theme. So I think
- 30:22Speaker 5: that's a lesson in itself. Like talk about like you
- 30:26Speaker 5: just having the patience and just staying the course and
- 30:29Speaker 5: just doing the work every single day for fifty years
- 30:32Speaker 5: to get to a point now where people are really
- 30:34Speaker 5: respecting you and having such high reference for you.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Now, that's the beautiful, that's the that's the end game,
- 30:40Speaker 1: you know. Like in chess, you got to opening game,
- 30:43Speaker 1: you got a middle game, then you got the end game.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'm at the end game. So it's lovely. It's lovely,
- 30:49Speaker 1: and I think I'm up just a tad dick car
- 30:52Speaker 1: got two pards, So hey, if I can get this
- 30:55Speaker 1: other pawn down there, I might have something. Man, I
- 30:57Speaker 1: look at it. Checkmate.
- 30:59Speaker 4: You talked about the endgame. Uh.
- 31:03Speaker 2: When I hear mister tenderism, I think something much bigger.
- 31:06Speaker 2: I think merchandising. I think product because the one thing
- 31:10Speaker 2: in business that you learned earlier is that if you
- 31:13Speaker 2: don't replicate yourself, how can you scale?
- 31:15Speaker 4: Right?
- 31:15Speaker 2: And there's only so many interviews you can go to.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It's only so many people you can cook for. Is
- 31:20Speaker 2: that something that's on the vision board now as you're
- 31:22Speaker 2: looking at the success that you've had, is it, Hey,
- 31:26Speaker 2: there's a cook or can we not? Where are we
- 31:28Speaker 2: at what's on.
- 31:29Speaker 4: The vision board.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I guess Rich told me a loose, litle singleship. So
- 31:34Speaker 1: I'm trying to keep anything on it. Not that I'm
- 31:36Speaker 1: gonna be quiet about it, because one day you might
- 31:38Speaker 1: just see me in all the stores across the United
- 31:40Speaker 1: States more over there in the other country, you know.
- 31:43Speaker 1: So hey, and brand deals, I ain't talking about no
- 31:46Speaker 1: love brand deal. I'm talking about that end game brand deal,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So that's where I'm at
- 31:51Speaker 1: with that. You know, I don't want to discuss things
- 31:54Speaker 1: that I mean that either. But hey, if you take
- 31:58Speaker 1: that word life and you take the al and eat
- 32:01Speaker 1: off of it, you'll have if if you wake up
- 32:04Speaker 1: in the moment, See, you can't say what's gonna happen
- 32:06Speaker 1: because we don't know. So I take this day it's
- 32:10Speaker 1: a blessing. I ain't gonna say looking forward to the
- 32:13Speaker 1: day because the game ain't over yet, That's right. Yeah,
- 32:18Speaker 1: there certain games be sold, not told. That's a fact.
- 32:22Speaker 5: Well, I definitely think for my two cents, I mean,
- 32:24Speaker 5: the podcast will be great, Like you have a great personality,
- 32:26Speaker 5: and like you said, just from a culinary standpoint, but
- 32:29Speaker 5: just motivation and daily affirmation and stuff like that.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Like, man, come out with it, mane Now you know
- 32:35Speaker 1: you got you gotta be motivated, man, that's the fact.
- 32:39Speaker 1: You gotta be motivated and dedicated. Yeah, and I'm gonna
- 32:43Speaker 1: stay motivated and dedicated. I don't keep it real too
- 32:47Speaker 1: one and ten percent. I'm gonna keep it real. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: ain't gonna be no playing with this now.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 5: And then also the brand deals is great, but like
- 32:55Speaker 5: he said, I think you definitely can have your own
- 32:57Speaker 5: line of Laurie's seasoning and barbecue sauce and different things
- 33:02Speaker 5: that nature.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Well, mister Tendoners.
- 33:05Speaker 4: See that the mister tender is in the apron.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Boy.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know one thing, man, I ain't gonna even
- 33:10Speaker 1: tell you nothing, man, g you been in my bags

- 33:40Speaker 3: Huh why not?
- 33:42Speaker 5: And the cooking class is a good idea too, because
- 33:44Speaker 5: there's a lot of people, younger people.
- 33:47Speaker 3: It's a disconnect between generations.
- 33:49Speaker 5: Yeah, so they don't they don't understand that Southern barbecue tradition.
- 33:55Speaker 3: They just getting fast food now, so they they.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Will, Oh, look at he I got something playing. Man,

- 34:07Speaker 1: I ain't no man about. But how y'all know about it?
- 34:10Speaker 3: Just just thinking from a bit, just thinking from from
- 34:12Speaker 3: from entrepreneurs.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And I said, go notly than that, I an. But anyway, yeah,
- 34:16Speaker 1: that'll be beautiful. See cause I got kid, and I
- 34:19Speaker 1: got grandkids, and they might have a kid kid. You know,
- 34:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about this some grand kid. But I got kid.
- 34:26Speaker 1: When I said grandkids, it's a mo kid. There's a
- 34:28Speaker 1: mo kid. I like all of them, you know, one
- 34:32Speaker 1: day to see I know him now my grandpa ten
- 34:35Speaker 1: years Yeah, see that kind of stuff. Let the whole
- 34:39Speaker 1: world know me.
- 34:40Speaker 2: They saying that now, now, this is something that I
- 34:42Speaker 2: need to know I've been married fourteen years.
- 34:45Speaker 4: I can make a few meals. Right, you've been married
- 34:47Speaker 4: a lot longer than I have. Who cooks in the house?
- 34:51Speaker 1: Man, Look, let me tell you something right now, my
- 34:56Speaker 1: baby don't feel like looking. Dam I'm down, like I
- 35:00Speaker 1: cheez back. Well, boy, my bab thought I don't cooking.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You understand, everybody gone through a few bloomingdales and things,
- 35:07Speaker 1: and oh I don't come. I'm like, but hey, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: get hungry. It's tiny, so like, hey, she can get
- 35:14Speaker 1: down too though. That's the good part about it. Two chefs. Yeah,
- 35:19Speaker 1: I ain't got to be doing a whole lot. You
- 35:21Speaker 1: have that part. I had it this part, and we
- 35:24Speaker 1: get together at the table, I'll be trying to eat
- 35:25Speaker 1: up everything. Her part and my part.
- 35:29Speaker 4: What's the point? Greeting is love? That's it.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Main, that's it.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Main. That is boy, I'm telling you. And that's one thing.
- 35:36Speaker 1: If I could teach something these you kids out here
- 35:39Speaker 1: in the world, not just the world, if they learn
- 35:44Speaker 1: this trade, just cooking things, there'd be something of the
- 35:47Speaker 1: happiest people in the world because you can't think about
- 35:51Speaker 1: all that that crazy stuff. Not cook you see, because
- 35:56Speaker 1: be done, burst something up the kitchen might be. What
- 36:00Speaker 1: the so you gotta stay focused. As long as they
- 36:04Speaker 1: stay focused they come to my class, I'm gonna get them. Yeah, yes, right,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I'm making candyball all kind of see the whole live stuff. Hello,
- 36:14Speaker 1: no woman, Yeah, y'all I know about gender neers of all?
- 36:18Speaker 1: What in are you all around? Coach man?
- 36:20Speaker 3: Everything?
- 36:21Speaker 1: Everything? I can't say when I was finished. Second, my
- 36:23Speaker 1: wife sid sitting down with there a pig for a pope.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Boy, you gotta play, oh man, woa whoa whoa?
- 36:33Speaker 5: So so I mean you brought up a good point
- 36:35Speaker 5: as far as the art of culinary because it does
- 36:38Speaker 5: teach you a lot different thing.
- 36:39Speaker 3: It teaches you discipline, Yes, it teaches.
- 36:41Speaker 4: You to.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Follow authority because somebody has to teach you, so you
- 36:45Speaker 5: gotta you gotta listen to that. It teaches you patience
- 36:48Speaker 5: like you bake it like it's gonna take a long time.
- 36:52Speaker 5: So yeah, that's good for for everybody to know. But
- 36:55Speaker 5: like that, those disciplines, it's more than just taste and
- 37:00Speaker 5: good like you're actually learning real life skills.
- 37:02Speaker 1: That's right, that's right. You got to you got to do.
- 37:06Speaker 1: You know, you use a boning knife for a bone
- 37:09Speaker 1: to get to be you don't use a chef knife
- 37:11Speaker 1: to bone. You got to be doing that a long
- 37:14Speaker 1: time to use that chef knife for a boning. So, yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 1: this discipline come in like your fingers might have a
- 37:20Speaker 1: little cut on it, you know what I mean? So
- 37:23Speaker 1: how do you not cut your hand? Don't cut your
- 37:25Speaker 1: finger off? See, you got to you mess with slices.
- 37:29Speaker 1: So it's a dangerous feel, But don't have to be dangerous.
- 37:33Speaker 1: You just gotta pay attention to what you're doing, stay focused,
- 37:38Speaker 1: and if you really want to do it, then y'all
- 37:40Speaker 1: probably need to try to come to mister tending them class.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Attend doesn't nizzle, I say, come to his class. Gonna
- 37:47Speaker 1: be open real soon. Just don't have a date. Yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you be able to reach me all over the world,
- 37:52Speaker 1: uh huh.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 37:53Speaker 5: And virtual the guy you got a virtual walk for
- 37:56Speaker 5: people that can't call tape it man.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Look at him of what they call that social media?
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, then that's why I better be on the
- 38:04Speaker 1: social media program called tender nails.
- 38:08Speaker 4: I can see it.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I can teach you right. Hey, Oh thing you
- 38:10Speaker 1: gotta do, make sure your parents send me a letter
- 38:14Speaker 1: that because you messing with them knives at home. Yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I want you cutting your hand.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Out had a disclaimer.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I wonder as you move around the country, right,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I feel like the impact is felt. Right, we've seen
- 38:29Speaker 2: the viral sensation that has become what mister tenderism is.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Number one, are other chefs pitmasters reaching out to you
- 38:38Speaker 2: for advice? And the other part of that is that
- 38:41Speaker 2: you know, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. So
- 38:44Speaker 2: are you seeing people trying to pop up in the
- 38:47Speaker 2: way that you went viral and trying to replicate it?
- 38:50Speaker 1: Yeah? Man, see they be showing my little grandkids. Be
- 38:53Speaker 1: sure we look at your grandpa. They trying to imitate you.

- 39:21Speaker 1: tell you. Yeah. Look, they show me all these club
- 39:24Speaker 1: people doing all kinds of stuff. But then they saw me.
- 39:27Speaker 1: One guy just through his glasses like that, cause the
- 39:29Speaker 1: tending theirs a man, and so I said, okay, yeah,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I mean, hey, here's what it is. I don't have
- 39:36Speaker 1: no age. They want to do it, do it, you know?
- 39:39Speaker 1: But you know, really, what what I really like? Give

- 46:42Speaker 2: because yes, it's.
- 46:43Speaker 4: Cool to meet somebody that you know you grew up
- 46:45Speaker 4: listening to.
- 46:46Speaker 2: What it does is it invites other people to say, look,
- 46:50Speaker 2: I've had him for a private event. You also should
- 46:52Speaker 2: have him for a private event to help business. I
- 46:54Speaker 2: think that was part of the uproar, was like, wait,
- 46:57Speaker 2: how do we help him? And I think that's the
- 46:59Speaker 2: story that we should really like. We saw a story
- 47:01Speaker 2: and we didn't run from it. We said how do
- 47:03Speaker 2: we help? Did you get emotional about the outpouring support
- 47:08Speaker 2: from the community or was it like man, look at.
- 47:11Speaker 1: God, Man look at God. But you know I got
- 47:16Speaker 1: feelings too, so I say, wow, that's cool and a gay. Wow,
- 47:21Speaker 1: I can help a lot of people. And it's cold
- 47:25Speaker 1: part about it, Well, they preach I feed folks, So
- 47:33Speaker 1: people do I understand a little bit about tobody Jesus
- 47:37Speaker 1: say feed them first. Then I'm gonna give them the
- 47:40Speaker 1: word because you on a empty stomach, you ain't listen
- 47:43Speaker 1: to nobody. You wan't listen to Jesus. You ain't listening
- 47:46Speaker 1: to nobody. You try and get your old stomach from
- 47:49Speaker 1: your back. Yeah, if you got some kind of life
- 47:54Speaker 1: and them two things go together, him upstaff and food
- 48:00Speaker 1: that brings love and at the end of that love tenderism.
- 48:05Speaker 5: All right, my brother, well count before we leave. Before

- 48:20Speaker 5: got the oriel shoes on, Like when you wake up
- 48:24Speaker 5: in the morning, are you are you purposely? Are you
- 48:27Speaker 5: intentional about putting putting the lookout for the world to see?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Is that part of it?
- 48:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been putting this look out, man, I ain't
- 48:35Speaker 1: gonna tell you all I am. I've been putting this
- 48:37Speaker 1: look out a long time. Like, I mean, we grew

- 48:44Speaker 1: shoes but crazy pants boy? Uh yeah, So you're going
- 48:50Speaker 1: outside where you're going outside?
- 48:51Speaker 4: Look like?
- 48:54Speaker 1: Now? So you know we come suited and booty. You
- 48:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. And I just like the style. Now,
- 49:00Speaker 1: you know, people don't are you dressed up? Just uh,
- 49:05Speaker 1: I ain't clean right now, but I can get I
- 49:07Speaker 1: could clean the border.
- 49:08Speaker 3: Hell, that's every day.
- 49:10Speaker 1: This is an everyday thing with me, right.
- 49:12Speaker 3: Because I like shoes.
- 49:13Speaker 1: I mean the tennis shoe was pretty good too, at
- 49:15Speaker 1: fifteen twenty thousand dollars a pound. So I can't even
- 49:18Speaker 1: wearing no tennis shoes was all time. That's just ain't
