- 0:00Speaker 1: Final segment with Gino Oriama and then Maggie Veoni from
- 0:03Speaker 1: Ctoncaer dot Com will join me as we'll look back
- 0:06Speaker 1: at the Huskies over the first eight games. One thing
- 0:09Speaker 1: that you talked about last time on the Coaches Show
- 0:12Speaker 1: was film study and I just saw something on Twitter
- 0:16Speaker 1: with Dan Hurley talking about that on one of the
- 0:18Speaker 1: game days and how much time they invest with that.
- 0:21Speaker 1: How often on a given week do you do film
- 0:25Speaker 1: study on an average with your team? Is it usually
- 0:28Speaker 1: like day after a game of the first practice after
- 0:31Speaker 1: a game to go through stuff? How does that work?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yeah, regardless of what the schedule is. You know, how
- 0:36Speaker 2: many games we have, you know, like in this case,
- 0:40Speaker 2: we played, we played, we played Sunday, and then Monday,
- 0:50Speaker 2: you know, we watched film of Xavier and then film
- 0:56Speaker 2: of South Florida and we played Tuesday. Uh, Tuesday morning,
- 1:03Speaker 2: we watched film in South Florida. So, uh, yesterday was
- 1:08Speaker 2: a day off completely. Uh, you know, they did whatever
- 1:14Speaker 2: they do when they have a complete day off. You know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: they take care of you know, things that get uh,
- 1:22Speaker 2: you know, get backed up a little bit because of
- 1:24Speaker 2: all the travel. So there's nothing for them to worry
- 1:27Speaker 2: about basketball wives, and today we'll watch film of the
- 1:34Speaker 2: South Florida game, and uh, they'll do some individual stuff,
- 1:40Speaker 2: get some shots up, watched some film of clips that
- 1:45Speaker 2: they're that the assistant coaches have put together. You know,
- 1:49Speaker 2: each assistant coach has you know, their uh their film
- 1:54Speaker 2: with the with the players that they that they work
- 1:57Speaker 2: with on a regular basis. So you know, we'll watch
- 2:00Speaker 2: film as a team, watch films individually sometimes to watch
- 2:05Speaker 2: film and groups of tune you know, maybe you know,
- 2:09Speaker 2: let's say you bring in you know, KK and and
- 2:13Speaker 2: uh and Katie Heckel you know, and Calice, and you go, okay,
- 2:17Speaker 2: look this is what this is what we're seeing, this
- 2:19Speaker 2: is what's going on, and and just go over scenarios
- 2:23Speaker 2: that have happened and that uh can help us, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: going forward. So it's a big part of it. And
- 2:31Speaker 2: I got to tell you a lot of the film
- 2:34Speaker 2: is about us. Yeah, you know, you want to watch film.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You know, we watched film of the other team obviously,
- 2:40Speaker 2: you know, we we we want to know everything there
- 2:42Speaker 2: is to know, and we want to put together, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 2: a great game plan. But the majority of what we're
- 2:47Speaker 2: doing really has to do with how are we you know,
- 2:53Speaker 2: how are we improving? You know, here's the here's the
- 2:57Speaker 2: film in you know, early December, what it looks like
- 3:00Speaker 2: in mid November, And are we any better? We be
- 3:03Speaker 2: the same or we worse? What are we so majority
- 3:08Speaker 2: of the time for us to spend on self, you know,
- 3:11Speaker 2: self reflection and and you know what can we be
- 3:14Speaker 2: better at in addition to what the game plan is
- 3:18Speaker 2: for the next game.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of the next game, that's the Pall on Sunday.
- 3:22Speaker 1: They open conference play tonight with Marquette. But it has
- 3:26Speaker 1: not been a good start for Jill's team out in Chicago.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It doesn't seem like they're very big either. Unfortunately, they
- 3:33Speaker 1: play a ton of guard play.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that that seems to be more prevalent in our
- 3:41Speaker 2: league lately. You know, there's so few of those to
- 3:47Speaker 2: go around in the country anyway, you know that are
- 3:50Speaker 2: really really high level. So they play a lot, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: with a smaller lineup, you know, five out, lots of
- 3:58Speaker 2: guys that can shoot. I think the talent level at
- 4:05Speaker 2: the paul Is is down a little bit. You know,
- 4:09Speaker 2: they're having the whole changing coaching staff last year and
- 4:16Speaker 2: you know, new assistants come in. It's not easy for
- 4:21Speaker 2: Jill and her staff. And you know, basketball is so
- 4:25Speaker 2: much of a people have to be on the same
- 4:28Speaker 2: page and it takes a while to get there. And
- 4:31Speaker 2: in the meantime, you know, you're playing some some of
- 4:33Speaker 2: the better teams to start. You know, you got Marquette
- 4:37Speaker 2: and you got us, so I'm sure they'll get it together.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But yeah, it's not the same the Paul team that
- 4:45Speaker 2: we've been accustomed to seeing over the years.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Yeah, twelve thirty for that one on Sunday. We hope
- 4:50Speaker 1: he'll join us. Gin know, always a pleasure. Thank you,
- 4:52Speaker 1: my friend, and we'll talk to your Sunday.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Okay, Bob, talk you soon, Yes, Sir.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Geeno Rima with us on the Coaches Show. Maggie Veoni
- 5:01Speaker 1: next on the Women's Basketball Coaches Show here Onlearfield.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Stay with us.
