Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The Voice is back and it will be back tonight
- 0:03Speaker 1: on seven and seven Plus at seven thirty. And Sonya
- 0:06Speaker 1: Kruger is back and she's with us now. Good morning, Sonya,
- 0:09Speaker 1: son morning.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I love talking to you, guys, wa I missed you
- 0:14Speaker 2: so much. Haven't been there since October for TELESO.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Come Nellie there again.
- 0:21Speaker 2: You know how that's.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Son the voice another one. You know there's every year
- 0:28Speaker 1: you tell us the talent gets better, But what is
- 0:33Speaker 1: how is the this season? Is it really the strongest
- 0:37Speaker 1: field we've had?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Well, it's pretty strong. I don't know if you guys
- 0:41Speaker 2: watched last night's episode, but for me, the biggest thing
- 0:45Speaker 2: is the twist by having the secret fifth coach tones
- 0:48Speaker 2: And even I wasn't in on that secret until the
- 0:54Speaker 2: day we started shooting. They told me it's top secret.
- 0:58Speaker 2: The coaches don't know. And we were literally wheeling her
- 1:02Speaker 2: in and out in a roadie box. I know it.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It was just gold. So every now and then I'd
- 1:11Speaker 2: pop in and go and see times to just make
- 1:13Speaker 2: sure she had enough, you know, red Eminem because you know,
- 1:16Speaker 2: celebrity judges, that's what they like to have. But she's
- 1:19Speaker 2: she's absolutely divine and I've just think having her there,
- 1:23Speaker 2: and I don't want to give too much away, but
- 1:25Speaker 2: when it's revealed to the coaches, yes, wow, yeah it's
- 1:31Speaker 2: it's let's just say it's a mixed reaction.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Okay, oh really enough?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Is she Is she a tough cookie or is she
- 1:40Speaker 3: a bit soft? Is she competitive with you know.
- 1:42Speaker 2: What's she's a sweetheart, but she is competitive? Yeah for sure.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I mean they're all competitive. You don't get to be
- 1:50Speaker 2: at the top of your game the way they all
- 1:52Speaker 2: have been and not have a competitive streak. So yes,
- 1:56Speaker 2: definitely there. The competition is well and truly on.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It's amongst the coaches and not just the contestants, not.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Just the amazing singers. I mean, I remember Dasia when
- 2:07Speaker 2: she first came out, like she's fifteen. She's from Logan
- 2:09Speaker 2: in Queensland, which is bizarrely where I grew up too,
- 2:13Speaker 2: and she has never had a singing lesson and this girl,
- 2:18Speaker 2: I mean, I just if I could sing like that,
- 2:21Speaker 2: I would just never stop singing, you know, I just
- 2:24Speaker 2: would be just singing all the time because I don't
- 2:28Speaker 2: have that talent. At one point, they were shooting in
- 2:31Speaker 2: the commercial break and all the coaches were singing the
- 2:33Speaker 2: voice John Farnum's the voice, because they're all big fans
- 2:36Speaker 2: of Fancy and they were rolling on it. Now I
- 2:39Speaker 2: get in this on you sing along, Well, i'd mind
- 2:42Speaker 2: because I didn't want the people in the control room
- 2:45Speaker 2: to have to hear me sing it.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Except for in the car. We're amazing in the car,
- 2:50Speaker 1: don't you when.
- 2:52Speaker 2: No one else?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:54Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Now, you have hosted a lot of talent shows over
- 2:58Speaker 1: the years. Is there a moment this reason where you think, oh,
- 3:01Speaker 1: I've never seen that before?
- 3:05Speaker 2: You know, there always is on the voice, and for
- 3:08Speaker 2: some reason, it often will catch me by surprise too,
- 3:13Speaker 2: you know, And and most of the time I feel
- 3:15Speaker 2: like I can kind of handle it. But there are
- 3:18Speaker 2: a few moments that come up where, like this revelation
- 3:22Speaker 2: about tones and I, where things go a little bit
- 3:25Speaker 2: off the rails. And I think that's because, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 2: it is very hard to predict how people will react
- 3:33Speaker 2: to that information, if you know what I mean. And
- 3:36Speaker 2: even at the start of last night's show, Richard Marx reacted,
- 3:41Speaker 2: he had quite a strong reaction. I think there was
- 3:43Speaker 2: a little bit in the keys and I texted the
- 3:46Speaker 2: executive producer of the show because I don't get to
- 3:49Speaker 2: see it until it goes to air and it's you know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: it's put together. And I was kind of like, oh wow,
- 3:54Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting that, and she went, loll it gets better.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You really just through with this coach's reaction.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Quickly A Sonia a wa contestant Bertie Anderson. He's thirty seven,
- 4:11Speaker 3: who worked on the Minds worked. I threw it in
- 4:16Speaker 3: to throw it all in for this, that's a that's
- 4:20Speaker 3: a big risk.
- 4:22Speaker 2: It is a big risk that you know, no risk,
- 4:24Speaker 2: no reward, And I mean that is he is the
- 4:28Speaker 2: star right there, quite incredible, and I think, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: if you really have to back yourself on a show
- 4:36Speaker 2: like this, and I think I think when you do,
- 4:40Speaker 2: it can pay off. And you know, like I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 2: talent like that just doesn't come along every every day.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And I remember I had a really full on corporate job.
- 4:50Speaker 2: I used to work for American Express many years ago,
- 4:53Speaker 2: and I was offered a part in the play, and
- 4:55Speaker 2: I remember I threw my job and my parents went crazy,
- 4:58Speaker 2: what are you doing? But honestly, if I hadn't done that,
- 5:02Speaker 2: then I wouldn't have, you know, been able to do
- 5:04Speaker 2: all this other stuff. So I think cut, get out
- 5:07Speaker 2: there and you know, just give it a crack.
- 5:10Speaker 1: And we've got an opera singer, Lachlan. So that just
- 5:13Speaker 1: goes to show how the voice is everything to everyone.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It is conversified.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I love opera, so I can't wait to see how
- 5:20Speaker 1: Longlan goes.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got any opera singer either. Have you seen him?
- 5:25Speaker 1: No, I haven't yet, but I look forward to it.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Here's a picture of him. He's a good looking rooster. Lisa,
- 5:33Speaker 3: there you go. I did your homework for him.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Looking for a friend, Sonya.
- 5:41Speaker 1: We'll see it back on Last Greeks tonight at seven thirty.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I love you guys, saying Sonya,
