The madness has begun. will say, was just thinking like, it seems like yesterday that we were talking about in the future after NFL is over, we're going to get, you know, March madness, know, baseball's around the corner and it's here, dude. Yeah. We're finally, we're finally in the thick of it. Arguably the best time of the sports year. Arguably. I some people come back and say September and October were the best. think we talked about, was that last episode we talked about that? That was the last episode. I think so. It's been about a week. Sorry, everyone. ⁓ we didn't record last week, even though there was some big news that came through, but we released the episode on last, the Friday before. And so we were like, you know what? We'll just save it for March madness. have a, we've kind of a jam packed show talking about, ⁓ brackets and kind of what's going on with the madness. That's kind of what the focus is going to be this week on what we got going on. But before we get into any of the madness, Matt, let's get into our Brody's of the week. Y'all's favorite segment. I'll preface this with, didn't know that the WBC was every four years. Okay. Yeah, it is every four years. We talked, I think we talked about this. It's, it's every four. Well, we, we, we mentioned about it when we first brought it up. said, was this every, cause I didn't remember it happening last year, but I thought it was every two years, but I guess it's every four years. I just saw a tweet. was a funny tweet. was like people were, were complaining about how many pitches they let Steens throw. And the guy was like, yeah, well, he's not going to play another meaningful baseball game until 2030 WBC. I was like, okay, I guess it's every four years. I guess it is true. The pirates, you know, don't build the team around them. It's every four years. But I'll tell you what, I don't want to take away from your birdie of the week, but that game last night, I guess we're recording this on Monday, the game on Sunday night, USA Dominican Republic was absolutely electric. Dude, was everything you want. in a competitive baseball game and more. Some of the crowd pops that were going on when there was home runs hit Aaron Judge after the little ahead of yourself. You're not there yet. Aaron Judge after the game came out and said that it was a bigger atmosphere than the World Series. I can see it. Arguably. I'm to do that. Even after Juniu came in there with a song run, I feel like the DR fan just went berserk. The pop was crazy. I think they playing, yeah, they were in Miami last night. Yeah. Which is I mean not far commute for the the DR could've been a home home game for the DR It was what it sound like it was anyways birdies the week first bird of the week Obviously if you even watch the game, you know who it's gonna be It's gonna be Paul schemes best pitch on the planet. It's four and a third innings Against dr last night. There's 71 pitches. I said kind of alluded to earlier not really that much but I mean through four innings I guess he was getting up there but 50 strikes, led up six hits, only one earned run, which was the homer by Junior Cameron Arrow. Who can't really, we can't really be surprised or complain about that because he had 45 homers this past season. He's a 21 year old. He's unreal. He's one of the best hitters. I know. Wait. I fun little stat. I heard this. Is it a... I forgot. I'll read the stat. You tell me if this is the stat you had. The Dominican Republic's first run came off the home run of Paul Skeens on a sweeper in the WBC semi-finals. Last season, Paul Skeens only gave up one home run on 476 sweepers that he threw. That's just pretty impressive. That's good hitting. was, that's a good stat. That was not my stat. My stat was, Gene had the second most home runs as a 21 year old. ⁓ okay. In the MLB. Now he's got one off Paul Skeens. Which might end up being legendary. Also, only two strikeouts for Paul, but I mean, with the defense that USA had last night, Bobby Whit. I saw people saying that the earth is covered by 70 % water. The other 30 % is covered by Bobby Wood Jr. at shortstop. He was a close second for the Brody. But let me just, let me put this in perspective. Paul Steen's only gave up one run. I know it was only four innings, but this is one of, if not the best, like on paper lineup, hitting lineup, you know, ever. Assemble, you Fernando Tatis Jr. hitting leadoff. Cattell Marte, switch hitter, hitting second. Juan Soto, arguably the best lefty hitter in baseball. You got Vlad Groh Jr. You got Manny Machado Jr. command arrow. ⁓ Julio Rodriguez. ⁓ then somebody, have you seen that meme? The, what's a polar bear doing in Arlington? No. Oh, there's just some polar bear in Arlington. Yeah. There's a game from the zoo. Yeah. It's just something that's so out of place. It's Austin Wells hitting eighth. lastly, her Aldo per Doma. I think that you say the, the Dominican Republic's lineup is crazy. The USA's lineup was actually crazy. mean, it was, it almost felt like an all star game between the two teams with just some of the hitting that there was going on. Not to mention Julio Rodriguez had an absolutely robbery catching. Probably game saving catch didn't end up saving them the game, but it was off Aaron Joe Aaron judge how many times I'm gonna say that. Let's lock it in buddy. Aaron judge and It was just an incredible catch and ⁓ the Dominican public was out there. They were balling I was on edge the entire game, and I think we both were We were edging But I think that's what Julio Rodriguez like he's done that before yeah, it's not like a one like he's really good outfielder so no and ⁓ So your Paul skeins was your Brody of the week. My Brody of the week was the umpire. ⁓ the last, the last pitch that was thrown, people have come out and said it was a ball. You know what? Listen, I agree with them. It was a ball. Not, not much we can do about it now. A wins a win. And, ⁓ you know, this would have been a great thing if they had that, ⁓ they had the replay assist going on where they could just tap the helmet and see, but three, two count guys don't a hundred and then throws a curve ball in there. Absolutely fooled the batter, fooled the umpire apparently. And we, we walk off with the win on that. Also my other Brody of the week, I was going to say for this was Aaron Judge. His throw from right field when he threw out Tatis Jr. All the way at third was absolutely incredible. looked like the Dominican, Dominican Republic was a little shell shocked after that throw. Cause that was an absolute laser beam all the way from right field. My arm hurt just watching that throw. I think it was either 94, 96 miles an hour. Yeah, it was Aaron Judge threw a pitch of his own and it was an absolute strike to third base. ⁓ got there in plenty of time. So these guys are incredible. And, ⁓ now USA is going to be taken on either Venezuela or Italy in the finals. ⁓ that game is tonight. So we don't officially know who prediction on who we're going to play. Probably Italy. Italy has been a fun team. You say Venezuela. And then. You want to give a prediction? Cause this episode is probably going to drop on Wednesday. The championships on Tuesday. USA is going to win. know we lost. Lost to Italy recently. That was a game that we didn't think that we needed. Okay. Apparently the coach sat the, sat the starters for it. Italy was able to scratch out a win, listen, when we're at full strength of the lineup, they're not going be able to do that. And, ⁓ we'll be able to see. I want to ask you this, Matt, who's really the Captain America of this team for USA? Is it Aaron Judge or is it Paul Skeens? I mean, kind of getting Captain America vibes from both of them, but I feel like you got to give it to Aaron Judge. I'll go. I mean, after this though, like if Paul Skeens wasn't pitching, we would have lost the game. So I'm going to go Paul Skeens. Maybe Aaron Judge is Captain America and Paul Skeens is Bucky. Cause he's got the vibranium arm. Yeah. Throwing gas. Imagine Bucky on the mound. Pretty much what we saw with Paul Skeets. But I was going to just say something real quick. The people complaining, I know the last pitch was a ball, right? It should have gotten locked. But it's not like the DR didn't have multiple opportunities to capitalize and score. Bottom of the fourth, bases are loaded, two outs. They couldn't get it done. They couldn't get anybody in, right? There was another opportunity he had and we ended up turning a double play on it. I can't remember what inning that was. Bottom of the fifth, guy in first and second, one out. They end up not scoring bottom of the seventh, a guy on second and third only one out. They also end up not scoring. And then bottom of the ninth when there was still only one out, was on second, couldn't get them in. So they had ample opportunities. Yeah. It was a, it was an all time classic of a game. I, I was honestly just shocked with how low scoring it was that it finished two to one. ⁓ I don't think that was on either of the teams. Well, maybe USA was like, Paul schemes will go out there and hold them. But I was thinking after he came out, I was like, all right, now the score, you're going to start. And it just never got started for the Dominican Republic. had that one, that one solo home run. Uh, bad. remember when we were texted back and forth, we were like, dang it, the game's over. When that home run happened, said, it's okay. It's a solo home run. We like solos. No one on base. So ended up working out our favor and shout out to the umpire. I don't know. I don't know if I even want to look up his name and put them on blast on the podcast because it's going to help for us. Well, if he's getting death threats, it's only from the Dominican Republic. It's not from the USA. They sat out the relievers and the closers, man. They didn't, I don't think they let up another hit. Yeah. I don't know who's going to the, who's the other pitcher coming in for the championship? Cause there's no way Paul Skeens is going in the championship on Tuesday. No, it's not him. It's St. Patrick's day. Hopefully everyone's wearing green on Tuesday, even though the substance drop's not Wednesday. We're all over the place. All right. And that's it for. WBC. All right. My next Brody of the week goes to Cam Young, Mr. Cameron Young. He's able to win the players championship at TPC Sawgrass. Took down Matthew Fitzpatrick, little USA versus England, little Ryder Cup vibe going on. They were in the second to last group. They weren't in the last group. That was ⁓ Ludwig Oberg. Ooh, you know, shout out. Texas Tech alumni ended up kind of falling apart in the last round a little bit. You know, we've all been there on the, on the course before we've all had a, you know, struggle a little bit. ⁓ he kind of, you know, let it get away from him, but Cam Young was playing with Matthew Fitzpatrick who was leading. ⁓ Cam Young birdied hole 17 at TPC Sawgrass, which if no one knows that hole, you're not a golf guy or, or gal, ⁓ 17th. hole is probably the scariest hole in all of golf. It is just an island green with water all around. I actually saw so many balls get hit in the water. It's a tough flag in position. Cam Young steps up. It's about like a 120 yard shot, 110 yard shot, something like that. Winn's absolutely whipping, absolutely throws a dot in there and rolls probably, I don't know, within nine feet of the hole. He's able to finish off with a birdie and that was kind of the swing. He was able to tie Matt Patrick going into the 18th hole. Also Cam Young. He birdied 17, not only in the final round, but in the third round and the second round. So he's got that hole's number. Matt, if you were, if you were hitting on a hole 17, what do think you'd score? Uh, just based off nerves. First one's going in water. Um, then I'm drop zoning. And then that one, I feel like, yeah, get it on not close to the flag probably, but maybe two or three, but you know, know, double or triple, a double or triple. Yeah. think I'm walking away with a double or triple. That's being realistic. If you like had the tournament vibes, like a crowd standing there watching me, like, I don't know. That'd be a tough shot to deliver on. the guy, was he tied second? Thor Bjornsson? No, he wasn't tied in second. Coming into Sunday, he was up there top five. Oh yeah, yeah. He was in the top five. I thought you saying like he finished in the top five. No, was saying he, I watched him like unravel on a hole. I forgot what it was, but he went water and it's just, it was a tough scene. think he, You got a quadruple bogey, I do believe. And that just took him out of the tournament. It's, uh, it's, uh, there's, uh, it was, it was a one of the, had an average golfer playing in PGA tournaments. It was like way back. saw the video on this. Uh, he was like the, were trying to find the worst golfer in America. And he brought him out there and he had like a 68 on that hole. Cause in the PGA, in the PGA, there's no limit. And I think he hit like, I think it was like 27 balls in the water or something like that before he finally got one on the green. I mean, tough look. No. Okay. Yeah, I could see that. ⁓ but yeah, back to cam young. It then goes to the 18th hole. He's tied with Fitzpatrick. think they're both at 13 under 12 under, and, ⁓ he hits a massive drive. They were hitting with the wind, but his drive went 375 yards. It's the farthest drive ever on hole 18. And no one knows hole 18. ⁓ you said 17 stuff. Hole 18's got water all down the left side. Dude, I'd argue hole 18 is way harder than 17. Yeah, especially hitting driver. Like a lot of guys just will take like a, you an iron and just put it up there in the fatter part of the fairway. But to take a driver and say, know what, we're just going to tack. He put the whole tournament at stake and it paid off for him. Cause on the tee box, the tee shot is like under trees, right? They're like touch. Not 18. Yeah. That's like hole 14. 18 doesn't have any trees. Positive? The only trees are like when the fairway splits. So that's why some, that's why a lot of people don't take driver cause you can reach those trees very easily. On the right. Yeah. Like, uh, Oh, okay. I'm tweaking. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. 100 % tweak. So yeah, Cam Young finished with, I believe it was the best score of the day for the Sunday. It was 68. It was four under on the round. I was able to come back and win. It's his second PGA tour victory and he got a nice $4.5 million payday out of it. So now, you know, getting ready for the Masters, you know, we saw Rory last year when TPC saw grass players championship. won that and then went on to win the Masters. Now Cam Young, is he now the favorite to, you know, win the Masters? We're now under a month away from Augusta. We got that coming down the pipeline for golf. This is like the most exciting time for golf. Normally like the players championship is like when the season, feel like it really starts. This is definitely one of the most fun courses to, to watch them play on. I think there's just so many, the, Scotty Scheffler said it last year, the, way the trees are positioned, you actually have to like, shape a lot of good shots. The rough's very unforgiving. So you got to try and keep the ball in the fairway, but there's not a lot of just straight shots. It's a lot of, there is that hole where you have to hit under the tree. There's a hole that you have to curve it around. There's 17 where you have the water all around. And then 18, you got the water all the way down the side. So it's a tough course and to be able to win that, it's the signature tournament. It's a signature tournament. It's probably some people say it's the fifth major on the tour. And, it's, it's a good one to walk off with. lot of water on that course, dude. Yeah. Especially in Florida, but, uh, shout out cam young, worst nightmare. actually played golf this weekend too. We think you'd shoot on, so I guess if what did I show us? So it conditions, tournament pens. I guess. I mean, from the, I'm not going to say from there to use, but I'm probably around a hundred. means I'm probably one fitty. Yeah, means you probably right. At least. That guy that was the worst golfer, I think he finished like a 250 or something. Yeah, I'm not gonna finish with that. I he had like 150 on the back nine. That's just insane, dude. I think the PGA Tour should bring that back. You know who I think could shoot 250 out there? Who? You know. I'm not gonna put any of our friends on blast. Nah, I just said I'm not gonna name names. Have we talked about it before? Yeah. Yeah, okay, I know you're talking about. There's somebody out there. yeah, I played, I played golf this past weekend. I played with my brother. Actually we played on Sunday and I don't know what happened in Dallas, but there was like 40 mile an hour wind gusts going on. Made it absolute hell trying to hit the ball in the grades. Yeah. Finished pretty good on the day though. We were out there. I think it was like the last three holes when the wind just like all of a sudden just picked up out of nowhere. was hitting my, I was hitting my. was hitting my five iron from. 150 yards into the, into the wind. My five iron is normally like my 220 club. I was like, I felt very humbled on my distances. five iron is my 150 club. Well, you would have been hitting driver from where I was then. out of bounds. That's awesome man. What about your next Brody of the week? Next Brody isn't so much of a Brody, but it's like I said, I mean, it's kind of an update on if we got a lot of NBA fans here maybe, but there have been talks some. Little rumors, some chatter about expanding the NBA, adding a couple new teams in. Um, so the NBA is going to hold a vote at the board of governors meeting March 24th and 25th to explore the possibility of adding expansion teams exclusively in Vegas and Seattle or potentially the 20, 28, 20, 20, 28, 20, 29 season. So I guess essentially it would be bringing back a team to Seattle. So they had a supersonics, bringing a team back there. I, if I'm from Seattle, if I'm like, you 40 or whatever, and I was around, you know, to watch, I mean, it wasn't that long ago, but, you know, if they took a team away from my city, my hometown, I'd be pissed. So I'm sure they're all excited to potentially get their team back there. assume, I don't see why they wouldn't. stick with the name supersonics. the reason I think this will vote will end up being passed because the team in Vegas, I think the Seattle team's just thrown in there to balance it out. But the NBA wants a team in Vegas. just saw what the NFL was able to do and move the Raiders into Vegas. These sports franchises know that Vegas is where lot of money can be made. They were like, well, we also could just throw a team in Seattle to balance it out. So I could easily see this getting passed through. So I guess they do this. They do this voting in the middle of the season? Cause I would think this is something I need to talk about after like the finals and everything. I mean, we're being towards the end of the season, but certainly, I mean, this is for years down the road. Yeah. So guess the sooner they have the meeting, better. I guess the board of governors, I guess it's not the owners coming along and voting on it. Cause I know like the NFL is like the, the owners have to vote and say yes, but I guess the NBA does things a little different. Yeah. Isn't the, I forget his name, the guy that owns the match now. I think he's also the governor, I believe. you talking about the guy that's like with the casinos and everything? What is his name? It's gonna drive me crazy. I'm feeling Dan. Is that Dan? The Dumonts. I think it's Patrick Dumont. Patrick Dumont. PD, yeah. They are the only Las Vegas Sands Casino resorts or whatever it is. Get ready for the Las Vegas Mavericks, buddy. Yeah. Maybe they'll just take the Mavericks and move them out. Let us In our beloved Cooper flag. Yeah, if they do decide to add the two new teams in, they're estimating a potential cost of seven to 10 billion to get these teams established, build, I guess, two new stadiums, two new arenas, get everything I think they should do this. I think they should do this. Their play interment right now is like the best 10 teams from each conference. I mean, would be the last. play interment. So right now there's like not a lot of teams that missed the playoffs, technically. Be the seventh to 10th seed in each conference. Yeah. So I think they need this expansion. I agree. I guess one would be in the East. I guess I'm glad they're doing two, not just one. And they have to do two. So what they're at 30 teams right now, so it'd be 32. So we'll get to see what the NBA is up voting on that. That's actually right around the draft time. So who's good? The NFL. It's a month early. Oh yeah. Cause I keep thinking the NFL draft set the end of March. It's at the end of April. I'm a casual apparently. Just so excited for the draft. Stay in your lane buddy. The draft stuff is mine. You know what is coming up though is March Madness and we will come back and we will do some bracket talk. We have a special guest joining us for it and we will, we're going to go through each division or each region and talk about kind of, know, what we're thinking. But that we'll come back and do some March Madness bracket talk. What's going on everyone? Welcome back. Our senior college basketball analyst. we have, we're now Matthew squared on the podcast. ⁓ for anyone listening, I'm going to call our guests. It's Matthew Singleton. I'm going to say Singleton or Matthew, but there might be a little confusion. If we get talking, we'll figure it out as we go. ⁓ but yes, with that, we will, we're going to kind of run through by each region and, ⁓ maybe kind of give you guys some. some tips when you're making your bracket, because this episode will be out before brackets lock. So we're going to hopefully give you guys some good upsets, some some good, you know, gems to find. But before we do, I just want to remind everyone here, we're all chasing the perfect bracket and the odds of making a perfect bracket are actually astronomically high. ⁓ There is around one and 9.2 quintillion chance that you will have a perfect bracket. ⁓ there's actually less grains of sand on the earth or less stars in the universe. And there is a chance of you making a perfect bracket. So good luck to everyone. I'm making 25. do they know how many grains of sand are on the earth? of all, think it's just a pure estimate. Artificial intelligence. Hey, I just, they're just taking over, dude. That's what's happening. We should ask GP chat, GPT to make a bracket. ⁓ I was doing that earlier. It was giving me players that are no longer on BYU as playmakers. I was like, no, but they're taking over the world, Yeah. They're still catching up on March Madness. So I don't know what chat GPT would do with the, with the money, if they were to make a perfect bracket. So I'm pretty sure it's still a billion dollars for whoever makes a perfect bracket. A billion dollars. Oh yeah. Yeah. From Warner Buffett. A billion dollars. Yeah. Podcast is going to get some upgrades if one of us makes it. We're not, I'm not. Singleton, you're included in that now. Singleton is going to take over for me cause I'm out of here, dude. Yeah. I find a non-compete so I can't do that. He's the official bracket expert on Brody pod. Who's the guy? Who's the bracket ologist? Joe Lennarty. Yeah. You're, you're the Joe Lennarty of the Brody pod. It's been my dream job for a long time. So it's a big day for me. Who wouldn't want to be that? I it's the best possible job. ⁓ I mean, I like the college basketball players that go on to play in the NBA. There. So just college basketball guy. Yeah. College basketball expert. ⁓ so Singleton, we'll start off here. We'll start off in the East. Kind of give me your thoughts. This is, I have a couple of, ⁓ some, some stats that I wrote down. I, I put this, this region as the battle of the blue bloods, ⁓ with, know, I saw a stat here, Yukon, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, Michigan state are all in this. ⁓ They have combined for 496 tournament wins in their history and 28 national championships. So I feel like if we see a champion, it could be coming out of this region. Just depends on who it's going to be. Yeah. I mean, UCLA has a lead out of their own. I think UConn has like six national championships and then, ⁓ what is it? Like six out of the 16 coaches have been to a final four. ⁓ So yeah, I mean, obviously it's got a lot of brand names. I think Duke got screwed, honestly. Like I honestly think they got one of the worst possible draws they could have gotten. mean, to me, it looks like the committee just didn't want to change anything. they were like, I mean, St. John's just beats UConn for 20 by 20 points in the Big East championship game. And they're just, you know, we already set the brackets, so we're just going to leave that as they are as a five seat. But, you know, honestly, I do think that Duke is going to probably get out of, I think they'll get past whoever wins the Ohio State TCU game and it's going to get pretty dicey for them. Almost right off the bat there. me ask you this Ohio state and TCU. This is the first official game of like the tournament. This is when 50 % of brackets ended up getting knocked out. Do you have a team that you're giving the edge to just for people so that they have some hope for a game? there a team you're edging? Is there a team you're edging? Please don't. I mean, I'm picking Ohio state. I was picking Ohio state. I was, was feeling really good about that. And then John Rothstein on CBS sports got on and was just like, everybody who picks Ohio state is an idiot. And he was talking up TCU. So I don't know. I mean, in my opinion, Ohio State's a better offensive team. ⁓ TCU does have a all name tournament candidate in David punch. So that's a heck of a name. So that's going to be a hard one to overcome for, ⁓ Ohio State there, but I think the book guys probably get it done. And it's like their top guy to David punch. that. I'm seeing that Ohio state has an absolute unit and right. Or Bruce Thornton, Thornton 20 points for you. ⁓ yeah. No, he's. He's a very good player. mean, they shoot the ball well. very good. I think they're a top 15 offense on Ken Palm. Yeah, I like them. I think they're good. think they'll probably get past TCU. I mean, obviously, I don't know about Duke, but I think at least in the first round, it's who I roll with. Yeah, I think it's going to end up being Duke coming out of this. As far as a dark horse, I didn't really consider any of these teams that could be coming out of here a dark horse. Like I said, you got Duke, UConn, Kansas, UCL, Michigan State. I think you could take any of those and you could be possibly... picking the right team out of this. My upset that I had for this, and this is no other reason other than I watched them play against Wichita State with South Florida as the number 11. I had them beating, who was it, Louisville. And I think that was like the big upset I saw in this region possibly. So other than that, I don't know if any of these other ones are considered an upset. I don't think Cal Baptist is going to do anything. That's going to be a fun clip. I like the South Florida pick. don't know if ⁓ Mikel Brown Jr. For Louisville is a place. ⁓ if he doesn't, I mean, that's a lottery pick that's not on the court for them. I think that's what I'm a chance. It was purely off vibes. A lot of my bracket is off vibes. Cause there's just so many teams that I just haven't been able to keep up with. I just saw them playing against Wichita State in the championship and I was like, all right, we'll rock with them. They're going to be a hot team coming. I know that there's a stigma around Darren Peterson for Kansas that even though he's like kind of projected to be the number one overall pick in the draft. He's got some kind of a motor issues, if you will. Like maybe he doesn't give us all the entire game. You know, do you think that's going to come into play? think he might turn it up for the tournament? Might care more about it? think, I think him and his agent have an agreement on how many minutes he's going to play this year. And I don't know if that agreement probably goes into March. So they're probably going to come loose. And, ⁓ I would imagine that he plays full throttle and the issue is Kansas doesn't win. away from Topeka, regardless of who's in the lineup. So I mean, I think they're going to be, obviously they're going to get past Cal Baptist, you know, we've already established the disrespect towards, that on the clip, fighting Baptist out there in California. Um, I think they have two lottery picks on their team as well. Right. Uh, I think they have one lottery and then one like late first. There is a cuff. Yeah. then as far as Texas and NC state, had BYU beating whoever that is. Uh, I think AJ to Banzia. I say that right. We're working on the pronunciation. Um, I think he's going to be, I think he's the real deal for BYU. You just can't go against big 12 basketball. got BYU losing to Purdue and then Arizona beating Purdue. Yeah. Actually I'm Arkansas and Purdue. Ooh, you're going to get Arizona. Yeah. ⁓ will say Arizona does probably have a fun little final four. Kind of an SCC Homer. They're they're basically a coin flip. use the eight and the 19 mashups. use that for my, uh, my upsets usually just cause closest. The big upset there. I get out, you know, listen, I'm a casual. Okay. I don't know. I feel like they don't really matter either. mean, they matter because like you get like round one points for picking it right. But like 95 % of the time you have the one seed beating them in the second round anyways. It's just kind of like, yeah, you try to get a little bit just to help down the road. But really it's like, if they lose, it's not that big of a deal because it's not like you have them go into the final four most of the time anyways. Okay. So that one's pretty chalky. Now let's go to the Midwest and I've I've gone ahead and call this one the region of chaos. think this is going to be the one that's, there's going to be some crazy upsets. Anything really going wild. think it's going to be in this region here. Obviously you got Michigan who could also be the team that, you know, goes off and wins it all. ⁓ But as far as a dark horse, I'm going with my two favorite schools, Alabama and Texas Tech to possibly come out of this. And then upset wise. This is where we see Miami, Ohio, who just went undefeated in the regular season, lost in their conference tournament. But as I think they get out of the final four, and I think they could be a real, you know, trouble for who they play. would be Tennessee. I think they could easily take down Tennessee. Show the, show the, show the people that they can play a real school. It's going to be a tough matchup for them though. I know. think they got screwed. one of my favorite names. It's a booby, booby something. I just know booby, their best player. He's a real hands on defender. Those are my favorite types. I want to look up his name now. But, have Miami, beating SMU and then beating Tennessee. Just strictly purely vibes. Cause I had lot of question marks running them, even though they went 31 and now. UCLA made it to the final four and, uh, what was that? 21? Yeah. And then was NC State last year? Yeah. Were they your first four team that got in and then went on a run? Year before. I think that sounds right. Yeah. What do think about Akron? I think they're dangerous team. don't know. Listen, I was really high on the Texas Tech Red Raiders. And then JT Topp had went down. Had we had JT Topp and I wouldn't even looked at Akron, but without him, and now our point guard is suffering a, he's got a strain growing. Apparently he's going to be okay to go in the tournament, but. Texas Tech's a little banged up. Akron, I don't know anything about Akron. Anytime I see a team like this in the tournament, I'm like, uh-oh, raise the alarm. It's also a five versus 12. A 12 is like the perfect spot for an upset. I always say like, find you 12, find you 11 that you latch on to in your brackets and just call that upset. Yeah. I just, I think it should scare you. That's the bronze hometown. And I like they know how to play basketball there and they have a cool mascot. think LeBron still has some eligibility left. So yeah, he might, he might actually suit up. Yeah. And I'm looking here, Akron lost to Miami, Ohio, 76, 73. So they played the best team that they saw really close. They're dangerous. That's their frisky. I'm taking Akron. I'm being honest here. Singleton, tell me, you said you're working on a little program that is measuring these teams and you've kind of got your own analytics on this stuff now. ⁓ yeah. Not a program, not anything that would be technical enough. Just profiles, right? So championship teams come in certain profiles. They come in a certain shape and size. So really, so the criteria that I used is you have to be able to shoot from the free thrust drive, which is an incredibly important statistic. for championship caliber teams. You guys do 69.9 % from the free throw line and that I always say does not meet the freeze point. So they meet the three point criteria though, don't they? I think they're low. don't know. They might not be. can check that, but 35.5 % from three, 44.7 % from the field. And then on Bartorvik, the statistical website, a 95.4 or better adjusted defensive efficiency. And then their top two scoring guards having at least 2.5 years of experience on average. So if you have like a freshman and a senior, that's one year and four year, you average at 2.5, sophomore, junior, et cetera. So the last 13 or 12, think it's 12 champions had all had this exact statistical profile. And this year there is only one team that meets that statistical profile. Oh, thank you guys. Thank you guys. What seed are they? Well, guess I'll. I think I know who it is because I have been my Final Four. I'm going to say it's Arizona. Iowa state. No, it's Arizona. I was saying, so I'm going to once see it. that's not why we're laughing at that. Okay. So that's, that's where, okay. So that's where the profile fits. I, I ran into this, he's probably listening to the podcast because I shared it with them. I ran into a guy on an airplane and they do like analytics for college teams. And he was running me through some of the numbers and he said, he said, Arizona is the best team in the country. Hands down. And then a week and a half later, Texas Tech beat him at home. And I was like, okay, sure. But then the more I've watched Arizona, the more I've kind of followed them. I think they are going to be the team that ends up coming out of this. think if you're making brackets, it's always good to pick up sets early, but then you need to have a one or two seed, one through three possibly in the final four to take it all the way. Not against a panther. Okay, going panther. All right. We have the Arkansas Razorbacks versus the Hawaii. What are they? The Rainbow Warriors? Yeah. Give me the, it's gotta be just showing. Hawaii rainbow warriors versus the Texas tech red Raiders. much respect as I have for the Simone community, how bad they are. They're not bulletproof. Unfortunately. I feel like I'm biased, but I, I can lean towards the red Raider. All right. So now in the national championship, have Duke blue devils versus the Texas tech red Raiders. If we, if the cowboy lost the blue devil, think the I think the Red Rangers can only see the blue devil, unfortunately. And you know what? If it wasn't for JT talking, going down this realistically could have actually been. A national championship matchup. Yeah, not a realistic final for me. I have McNeese in Hawaii in there, but realistic national championship. Both these teams are plagued by injuries, but. It wasn't supposed to be. You know, high percentage winning, but I think. One of these, one of these years, the bracket's going to hit. I, we do see Duke often come out a lot with it. just Blue Devils, it seems like a very powerful mascot. happened in how many years have we done this? We've done it four or five. It's, uh, I mean, it's going to be until Duke is bad, which probably never going to happen. Until they're not in the tournament. Unless they get some other team in there. Oh, I think, like, what about like if it was Arizona state Sun Devils? See now that would be a fantastic. And we need Arizona state to get in the tournament. could make things interesting.
