- 0:18Speaker 1: Breaking for the batty breaking the one to break breaking,
- 0:33Speaker 1: turn the leader, to turn the baker.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Let's go to.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Waking for the last.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Good morning. You know what, even YouTube is having a
- 1:43Speaker 2: difficult time waking up this morning. YouTube running a little
- 1:50Speaker 2: on the delay this morning. I see maybe it's too
- 1:53Speaker 2: cold for YouTube. It could be too cold for YouTube. Uh,
- 2:00Speaker 2: good morning everybody. I'm jad Creen and welcome to the
- 2:03Speaker 2: Aired Out podcast live from Chili, Vermont. We're at my
- 2:09Speaker 2: house this morning. It was sitting right around negative fifteen.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I think parts of the Kingdom checking in this morning
- 2:17Speaker 2: at about negative twenty is what I'm hearing. But a
- 2:21Speaker 2: safe bet to say that most, if not all of
- 2:24Speaker 2: us here in the Green Mountain State are on the
- 2:28Speaker 2: underside of zero this morning. And yes, to all of
- 2:33Speaker 2: our friends who listen elsewhere, that's air temperature. That's not
- 2:41Speaker 2: with the wind chill, which the National Weather Service is
- 2:45Speaker 2: trying to do away with now they don't want to
- 2:47Speaker 2: use the word windchill anymore. These are air temperatures. Yes,
- 2:52Speaker 2: can we handle it? We can? We can. Sometimes when
- 3:00Speaker 2: it's this cold, when when you start driving your car
- 3:03Speaker 2: it feels like you got bricks in your wheels. But
- 3:07Speaker 2: We're gonna do just fine. And yes, I want to
- 3:13Speaker 2: thank this morning before we even get started the volunteers
- 3:19Speaker 2: who manned the Bury Auditorium last night as a shelter
- 3:25Speaker 2: for for folks that need a warm place to stay.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Four individuals were there last night, only four, which really
- 3:38Speaker 2: surprised me. The shelter is going to remain open until
- 3:42Speaker 2: Thursday is my understanding, but thank you to the volunteers
- 3:49Speaker 2: that did. That's check in this morning with deb Phillips
- 3:53Speaker 2: over at the World. Good morning, Deborah, how are you?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Good morning jad How are you doing?
- 3:59Speaker 2: It is Tuesday. I'm doing well. It's the already the
- 4:02Speaker 2: twenty first. Hard to believe that this month is ticking on.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Buy we're approaching February. But today is the World Day. Today,
- 4:11Speaker 2: Today's when we get our new copy. What can we
- 4:13Speaker 2: expect in there?
- 4:16Speaker 3: Well? The Farmers' Night Concerts start this Wednesday at seven
- 4:21Speaker 3: thirty at the Vermont State House with the Upper Valley
- 4:25Speaker 3: Community Band. These concerts run throughout the Legislature every Wednesday
- 4:30Speaker 3: at seven thirty. They're free and open to the public. Also,
- 4:35Speaker 3: if you're looking for a fun date night on Valentine's Day,
- 4:39Speaker 3: the Fleetwood Mac tribute band Tusk will be at the

- 4:48Speaker 3: school basketball matchup at the Bury Auditorium on Friday, January
- 4:52Speaker 3: twenty fourth, and we want you to make sure you
- 4:56Speaker 3: don't miss the grocery specials at the Granite City Market
- 4:59Speaker 3: and Pump and Pantry. So papers are out being delivered
- 5:03Speaker 3: neither cold or rain or we're getting them out there,
- 5:09Speaker 3: so be sure to pick yours up at any of
- 5:12Speaker 3: the three hundred stands.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Wow, three hundred, and we're talking over twenty thousand vermontors
- 5:18Speaker 2: picking up the world and getting.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Their eyes we're talking about nine thousand, but readers average
- 5:25Speaker 3: about twenty two thousand.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Wow. VT dashworld dot com is the You can see
- 5:32Speaker 2: the digital version online there, right, Deb.
- 5:35Speaker 3: That's correct, that's up and running right now.
- 5:38Speaker 2: All right, wonderful. Can't wait to get my fresh new
- 5:41Speaker 2: copy today. And I'm not sure if Chris will be
- 5:44Speaker 2: out in the cold, but I'm guessing that he will.
- 5:48Speaker 2: He's a tough guy. I gotta say I saw Tusk
- 5:52Speaker 2: at the Opera House a few years ago. They are
- 5:56Speaker 2: absolutely fantastic. That is going to be one heck of
- 6:00Speaker 2: a show.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Deb, Oh, definitely definitely one not to.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Miss and wonderful that you would bring up the concerts
- 6:10Speaker 2: at the at the at the State House. I mean,
- 6:12Speaker 2: this is something that's been going on. This is a
- 6:14Speaker 2: tradition that goes.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Way way back, way back. Yes, yeah, yes, I'm not
- 6:21Speaker 3: sure exactly how long, but quite a ways back. It's oh,
- 6:25Speaker 3: it's saying goes back over one hundred years. Oh yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 3: so yeah, keeping those the legislators entertained.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's right, that's right, awesome, that's wonderful that you guys
- 6:37Speaker 2: have that in the paper. Thank you so much. Deb,
- 6:39Speaker 2: Say hello to Gary Forrest and we'll catch you again
- 6:42Speaker 2: next Tuesday.
- 6:44Speaker 3: All right, thanks Jadi.
- 6:45Speaker 2: All right, Deb Phillips right there from the world. Happy
- 6:49Speaker 2: birthday today to Darlene Avery. Monique Billings. Payette is on
- 6:55Speaker 2: the list, along with Ruth Sherman, Wendy wooll Ever, Denise Levine,
- 7:03Speaker 2: Nella Lumber, Becca Henry, Happy birthday Becca. Let's see Tammy Coda,
- 7:10Speaker 2: and Sherry Henry, all celebrating birthdays today. Quick programming note,
- 7:16Speaker 2: before I forget two things tomorrow more. Quinn is going
- 7:23Speaker 2: to be sharing the microphone with me tomorrow morning. We're
- 7:26Speaker 2: going to be sharing her story with you. And if
- 7:34Speaker 2: you know Mara and a lot of people do, you
- 7:36Speaker 2: probably know what that story is. But I don't want
- 7:39Speaker 2: to allude to too much here, but it is an
- 7:42Speaker 2: amazing story, and I'm glad, I'm thrilled actually that she's
- 7:47Speaker 2: going to be brave enough to come in here tomorrow
- 7:49Speaker 2: morning and share a microphone with me and share that
- 7:53Speaker 2: with all of you. It is going to be incredible.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And then tomorrow afternoon we are gonna shift gears and
- 8:04Speaker 2: host a special Wednesday afternoon podcast episode with Sweethearts and Heroes.
- 8:13Speaker 2: And if you are not familiar with this organization and
- 8:17Speaker 2: everything that they have done for countless children, not just
- 8:22Speaker 2: here in Vermont, but just all over the country, you
- 8:27Speaker 2: do not want to miss this. Tom and Rick both
- 8:29Speaker 2: are going to be in here tomorrow. What an absolute honor.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I have been trying very hard, and so has Charlyn
- 8:41Speaker 2: to try to get them to make a stop off
- 8:45Speaker 2: here in the studio, and we talked for quite a
- 8:47Speaker 2: bit about the possibility of having them on remotely, but
- 8:51Speaker 2: to have them both here in the studio, we had
- 8:54Speaker 2: to hit the timing just right. And it looks like
- 8:59Speaker 2: this is going to be the one day out of
- 9:02Speaker 2: the entire year that we're going to be able to
- 9:04Speaker 2: have both Tom and Rick from Sweethearts and Heroes together
- 9:10Speaker 2: in the studio tomorrow, so a real honor. I cannot
- 9:14Speaker 2: wait to have them tomorrow afternoon. Exactly what time is
- 9:21Speaker 2: kind of up in the air because they're going to
- 9:23Speaker 2: be doing a presentation in Vermont and then they have
- 9:28Speaker 2: a few hour drive to get to Barry. So I
- 9:31Speaker 2: will let you know as soon as I have a
- 9:34Speaker 2: pretty good idea, but I'm guessing somewhere between two and
- 9:38Speaker 2: three tomorrow afternoon, and again, keep watching the page. I
- 9:42Speaker 2: will be letting you know. Some buses are running a
- 9:48Speaker 2: little late this morning, which is kind of thrown off
- 9:53Speaker 2: a lot of people's schedules in certain towns all over Vermont.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Some buses have a difficult time getting getting going when
- 10:02Speaker 2: it's when it's this cold, so there are some delays running.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Some schools running on delay as well, I think more
- 10:11Speaker 2: so up in the Northeast Kingdom, where again, if you
- 10:15Speaker 2: miss it this morning, they what I'm hearing is that
- 10:20Speaker 2: most towns up in the Northeast Kingdom are running somewhere
- 10:24Speaker 2: between fifteen and twenty and I think there was one
- 10:28Speaker 2: town was it Orleans. It was twenty two below zero
- 10:31Speaker 2: this morning air temp again. So yeah, when it's this cold,
- 10:37Speaker 2: I would assume that the kids aren't going to be
- 10:42Speaker 2: out playing outside for recess. Would be an assumption. Let's see,
- 10:51Speaker 2: I want to get to I want to get to
- 10:52Speaker 2: a couple of things here. But first off, the weather forecast.
- 10:56Speaker 2: They're saying that we're going to warm up to a
- 11:00Speaker 2: round twelve today. I say this, at least that's double
- 11:04Speaker 2: digits because we all know here in Vermont that we
- 11:09Speaker 2: have had cold snaps that have been much worse than this,
- 11:13Speaker 2: where we've had daytime highs of negative five, which I
- 11:18Speaker 2: remember daytime highs of zero or five above. But to
- 11:24Speaker 2: make it into the double digits, that's pretty good for
- 11:30Speaker 2: a snap. I think we're going to do just fine. Tonight.
- 11:34Speaker 2: They're saying most towns going to be around negative ten,
- 11:39Speaker 2: and then Wednesday sunny and cold thirteen Tomorrow, the snap
- 11:45Speaker 2: is kind of going to be coming to a slow
- 11:49Speaker 2: end by Thursday. We're going to rebound a little bit
- 11:52Speaker 2: to around twenty degrees on Thursday for high cloudy skies,
- 11:57Speaker 2: and then looking ahead to Friday, mix of sun and
- 12:01Speaker 2: clouds and around twenty as well. So yeah, so we'll
- 12:07Speaker 2: do just fine. We'll do just fine. We'll be fine.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Just you know, start the car up a little bit,
- 12:14Speaker 2: if you know, if you need to go anywhere. This
- 12:16Speaker 2: morning was it was difficult to get out of bed.
- 12:22Speaker 2: And maybe you're still in bed right now under the covers.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Maybe you got the electric planket on, maybe you don't,
- 12:31Speaker 2: but man, it was tough. It was tough. Did not
- 12:34Speaker 2: want to get get the fleece sheets, oh so so
- 12:41Speaker 2: comfy again. One more time here and it might be
- 12:47Speaker 2: two more times. But I want to thank the volunteers
- 12:51Speaker 2: that kept that shelter open at the Berry Auditorium last
- 12:56Speaker 2: night for folks who needed a warm place to stay
- 13:00Speaker 2: down in the basement. They had the heat on, they
- 13:03Speaker 2: had the cots set up, and I am so I
- 13:07Speaker 2: know so many of us are so grateful for this
- 13:12Speaker 2: opportunity that we have to utilize that building in different
- 13:16Speaker 2: ways and as it should be. And last night it
- 13:21Speaker 2: was only four people, from my understanding from reading in
- 13:24Speaker 2: the Times Sarcust this morning, took advantage of that emergency
- 13:29Speaker 2: warming shelter last night. I wish more people would take
- 13:36Speaker 2: advantage of that. And this is also an important time
- 13:42Speaker 2: to also say, you know, check on your neighbors. Make
- 13:45Speaker 2: sure they're fine, especially the elderly. Make sure they've you know,
- 13:49Speaker 2: their heat's working and that they're they're okay, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 2: and and if their cabinet doors need to be opened
- 13:57Speaker 2: up so their pipes don't freeze or whatever, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 2: just to go over just check on them, or at
- 14:01Speaker 2: least pick up the phone and give them a call
- 14:02Speaker 2: and say hey, doing all right? Uh, and make sure
- 14:10Speaker 2: they know that the Barry Auditorium is going to be
- 14:14Speaker 2: opened through Thursday as a warming shelter. And thank you
- 14:20Speaker 2: again to all of the volunteers. And I don't know
- 14:24Speaker 2: how many there are that are running that emergency shelter
- 14:29Speaker 2: up at the Barry Auditorium, but you know, make sure
- 14:31Speaker 2: if you know someone who's who's vulnerable in any way,
- 14:35Speaker 2: whether they're disabled, their elderly, what have you, just make
- 14:41Speaker 2: sure they're okay. Just check on them. Don't assume that
- 14:44Speaker 2: they are also your pets if you you know, And
- 14:53Speaker 2: we posted up last night on Facebook a reminder to
- 14:57Speaker 2: bring your pets indoors. If they're domestic animals that are
- 15:03Speaker 2: indoors outdoors like our cats, get them on the indoors today,
- 15:09Speaker 2: and you know, just make sure they're okay. And if
- 15:14Speaker 2: they're domestic animals that are out outdoors, you know, make
- 15:17Speaker 2: sure there's there's shelter, there's food, there's water that you know,
- 15:21Speaker 2: if if you got any uh, you know, heating stuff,
- 15:25Speaker 2: heating pads, whatever, that that it's plugged in, everything is working,
- 15:29Speaker 2: and if and and livestock too, you know, make sure
- 15:33Speaker 2: that that they're okay as well. You know, we we
- 15:37Speaker 2: all know that they're tough, but man, when it's when
- 15:41Speaker 2: it's this cold, even your your your chickens, you know,
- 15:45Speaker 2: tough animals, very resilient animals, but just double check make
- 15:53Speaker 2: sure that all animals are well taken care of when
- 16:00Speaker 2: it's this cold. Kind of goes without saying it should
- 16:03Speaker 2: be obvious, but you know, Facebook question of the Day
- 16:08Speaker 2: this morning dropped this one at about six this morning.
- 16:11Speaker 2: It's kind of a first of its kind project that
- 16:15Speaker 2: is tapping into energy beneath the ground to heat and
- 16:22Speaker 2: cool people's homes. It is a geothermal pilot program that
- 16:29Speaker 2: was just launched in Massachusetts and it could have customers
- 16:36Speaker 2: saving a lot of money per month on their utility bills.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I'm wondering and this is what I posted up this morning.
- 16:44Speaker 2: And please scroll down and when you find the the
- 16:49Speaker 2: FBQ the Facebook Question of the Day, post up your comments.
- 16:52Speaker 2: I want to hear what you have to say. I
- 16:54Speaker 2: want to know if you think that Vermond lawmakers are
- 16:59Speaker 2: aware of this, if Vermont lawmakers are paying attention to this.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Maybe they are aware of this, but maybe they're not.
- 17:14Speaker 2: And if something like this could possibly be considered in
- 17:19Speaker 2: the future here in Vermont and maybe the near future.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't know. Kind of far out for this old
- 17:26Speaker 2: fellow for me to digest something like that, but anyway, Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 2: it's it's interesting. It is. It is very interesting. Yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 2: we'll talk. We'll talk about about Trump and a little
- 17:44Speaker 2: bit and everything that went down yesterday. Well not everything
- 17:48Speaker 2: will brush on it will brush on it. There's a
- 17:53Speaker 2: check in Vermont headlines. There's a fire this morning in
- 17:56Speaker 2: Richmond that I understand has been uh, the firefighters are battling.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I don't know much more about that. I hope everyone
- 18:05Speaker 2: is okay. Horrible timing man. When it's not that it's
- 18:11Speaker 2: ever a good time, but when it's this cold. Wow.
- 18:15Speaker 2: We got the governor's news conference at twelve noon today.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I am sure that he'll be discussing everything that that
- 18:25Speaker 2: happened yesterday up in the border. And if you're not
- 18:31Speaker 2: familiar with with what happened, it was it was pretty
- 18:35Speaker 2: pretty hectic yesterday. A Border Patrol agent assigned to the
- 18:41Speaker 2: US Border Patrol's Swanton sector was fatally shot in the
- 18:47Speaker 2: line of duty yesterday afternoon at around three point fifteen
- 18:54Speaker 2: for Monsty Police had Interstate ninety one closed between exits
- 18:58Speaker 2: twenty seven, which is the Newport exit and Exit twenty six,
- 19:05Speaker 2: the Orleans exit that was that was partially closed, and
- 19:10Speaker 2: then the southbound lane was completely closed and expected to
- 19:14Speaker 2: be part of a long duration closure. According to from
- 19:21Speaker 2: Oxty Police, I haven't heard, and maybe you have, and
- 19:26Speaker 2: if you have, please put it in the in the
- 19:28Speaker 2: comments here right now so that I can see whether
- 19:34Speaker 2: that southbound lane is still closed. I'm assuming, and my god,
- 19:40Speaker 2: do we all know what happens when you assume, But
- 19:45Speaker 2: I am. I'm assuming that it is still closed because
- 19:49Speaker 2: I haven't seen or heard otherwise. But what a what
- 19:58Speaker 2: a tragedy the I could not believe my eyes when
- 20:02Speaker 2: that one popped up on my phone yesterday. When was
- 20:06Speaker 2: the last time that a border patrol agent was killed
- 20:11Speaker 2: in the line of duty. I don't know. I don't know.
- 20:18Speaker 2: A long time ago. I think FBI is leading the investigation,
- 20:27Speaker 2: along with a lot of assistants from the Vermont Stay
- 20:29Speaker 2: Police and the FBI. This morning is saying that a
- 20:34Speaker 2: third person was injured in is now in custody. So
- 20:44Speaker 2: there's a lot. Obviously, there's a lot of questions here.
- 20:50Speaker 2: You know, Vince Lucy was up in the area. There
- 20:54Speaker 2: was a little bit of speculation that he was nearby
- 21:01Speaker 2: the scene as this all happened, and may or may
- 21:05Speaker 2: not have witnessed this agent approaching a vehicle where he
- 21:16Speaker 2: was fired upon. I think that was in some of
- 21:21Speaker 2: the earlier reports from from yesterday from w c a X,
- 21:28Speaker 2: but it wasn't. It wasn't very clearly defined. There's a
- 21:35Speaker 2: lot up in the air here. There's a lot of
- 21:38Speaker 2: this story that we don't know that so many from
- 21:43Speaker 2: honors have have questions about. I mean the obvious, you know,
- 21:49Speaker 2: who was it, what happened, why did it happened? You know,
- 21:55Speaker 2: was the car loaded up with with drugs? You know what?
- 22:00Speaker 2: What's the story here? However, regardless of all of that,
- 22:12Speaker 2: regardless of all of the details which I'm sure will
- 22:14Speaker 2: come to light here soon and made public. We lost Vermona.
- 22:25Speaker 2: We lost a border patrol agent who was shot in
- 22:28Speaker 2: the neck and died right there on the scene. My
- 22:34Speaker 2: understanding is that the shooter was also killed. Don't know how,
- 22:42Speaker 2: don't know by who, but that he was taken out.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I don't know if he was by himself. I don't
- 22:51Speaker 2: know if he was the only one in the car.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I don't know at this point. Right now, it doesn't matter.
- 23:00Speaker 2: What matters is again that we we lost a border
- 23:05Speaker 2: patrol agent. How this kind of shit can happen is
- 23:13Speaker 2: It's outrageous, and this has and will continue to rattle
- 23:24Speaker 2: our community for some time, just as the officer shooting
- 23:30Speaker 2: in Saint Johnsbury has just recently. And you know it
- 23:41Speaker 2: especially at a time when we're seeing in the news
- 23:45Speaker 2: that a lot of these border crossings are running on
- 23:47Speaker 2: reduced hours with reduced staff, and that some of these
- 23:56Speaker 2: borders are going to be temporarily closed due to staffing.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I can't imagine. I can't imagine being a border patrol agent, frankly,
- 24:15Speaker 2: at any border. I just can't imagine. There are so
- 24:22Speaker 2: many people that are grieving the loss of this border
- 24:26Speaker 2: patrol agent yesterday, his family, his friends, his colleagues, other
- 24:33Speaker 2: border patrol agents. We don't know if he was a dad, husband,
- 24:47Speaker 2: we don't know, don't even know how old he is.
- 24:56Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, this is crazy that this kind
- 25:00Speaker 2: of shit is going down in our little Green Mountain state. Unbelievable.
- 25:11Speaker 2: It makes you wonder, and it makes you question a
- 25:14Speaker 2: lot of a lot of stuff. I hope that that
- 25:24Speaker 2: answers are given. I hope that transparent answers are given,
- 25:33Speaker 2: and that this story and all of the details of
- 25:39Speaker 2: what happened and how something like this might be able
- 25:47Speaker 2: to be prevented in the future. I hope all of
- 25:51Speaker 2: this is brought to light sooner than later. This is
- 25:59Speaker 2: this is crazy stuff. What's going on in our state?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Man Stacy's saying, uh that that was that this story
- 26:15Speaker 2: is even big news as far down as as Florida
- 26:19Speaker 2: this morning, where Stacy is very sad, very sad story yesterday.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And again I hope we I hope we get answers.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But more importantly, you know, how can how can something
- 26:42Speaker 2: like this be prevented? You never know who's pulling up
- 26:48Speaker 2: in front of you, uh, in a in a vehicle.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You never know what they've got on board, and you
- 26:55Speaker 2: never know what kind of person they are and what's
- 27:01Speaker 2: important to them, what their motives are, how desperate they are,
- 27:07Speaker 2: crazy crazy, crazy shit. And at the twelve noon press
- 27:17Speaker 2: conference today, it is my very strong assumption that the
- 27:21Speaker 2: governor will be discussing this as much as he is
- 27:32Speaker 2: able to. You know, wow, just wow. What else do
- 27:44Speaker 2: we have going on in Vermont news? That is by
- 27:48Speaker 2: far the lead story, by the way, and one that
- 27:51Speaker 2: I'll be watching and paying attention to throughout the day,
- 27:55Speaker 2: as I know you will as well. And if you
- 27:58Speaker 2: see any developments in this story, please share it away.
- 28:10Speaker 2: We have in the Times Argus this morning three people
- 28:17Speaker 2: that are facing criminal charges after police say they broke
- 28:20Speaker 2: into a home right here in Barry Prospect Street, stone's
- 28:29Speaker 2: throw almost from where I am right now. Courtney Laccolade,
- 28:36Speaker 2: thirty years old of Williamstown, Joshua Gratton, forty five, from Barry,
- 28:43Speaker 2: Isaiah Robert Whiteley, thirty four years old. They've each been
- 28:51Speaker 2: charged in Washington County Criminal Court in Berry with a
- 28:55Speaker 2: felony count of unlawful trespass into an occupied resident, and
- 29:02Speaker 2: if convicted, each faces a maximum sentence of three years
- 29:07Speaker 2: in prison. I know what you're thinking, Well JD, come on,
- 29:14Speaker 2: that'll never happen. Laccolade and Gratton pleaded not guilty at
- 29:19Speaker 2: the arraignment. They were both released on conditions. Whiteley failed
- 29:26Speaker 2: to appear for his arraignment, and now there's a warrant
- 29:32Speaker 2: out for his arrest with a bail set at are
- 29:36Speaker 2: you sitting down one hundred dollars? Berry City Police say
- 29:49Speaker 2: that in their affidavit that they were that a woman
- 29:55Speaker 2: called to report that she believed three people have broken
- 29:59Speaker 2: in or home on Prospect Street and that the building
- 30:04Speaker 2: is currently vacant. Police went to the scene. Neighbor confirmed
- 30:15Speaker 2: that what the victim reported was was true, that three
- 30:21Speaker 2: people had entered the building. Police went into the building
- 30:29Speaker 2: and could hear someone walking upstairs announced themselves multiple times.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Nobody responded, and police found the three down in the basement,
- 30:41Speaker 2: hiding behind the furnace. So shocker here. Drug paraphernalia was
- 30:51Speaker 2: found unwhitely similar last night in Alburg. And we've been
- 31:08Speaker 2: seeing this pop up in the news where people are
- 31:11Speaker 2: and I don't know what it is. I don't know
- 31:13Speaker 2: if they're if it's desperation, you know what it is,
- 31:18Speaker 2: but people are showing up at people's homes, whether they're
- 31:24Speaker 2: occupied or not, and just breaking in. Yeah, Becky one
- 31:30Speaker 2: hundred bucks Alburg. Last night, video security camera surveillance footage
- 31:45Speaker 2: has been made public. I think it's on my NBC
- 31:50Speaker 2: five of this guy trying to get break into a
- 31:53Speaker 2: house in Alburg last night in the middle of the night.
- 32:01Speaker 2: You know, some some some of some homes. They look
- 32:05Speaker 2: like they're vacant, but they're not. People live in there
- 32:15Speaker 2: and hopefully people that are protected armed. Amazing, absolutely amazing
- 32:29Speaker 2: that this kind of stuff is happening here in Vermont.
- 32:34Speaker 2: It really is. Let's see, should we talk about yesterday?
- 32:49Speaker 2: Should we talk about the once in a generation winter
- 32:55Speaker 2: storm that is sweeping through the South, bone chilling temperatures,
- 33:03Speaker 2: potentially historic snowfall. Stacy said, what did you say, Stacy's
- 33:09Speaker 2: sixties this morning down in uh Ford, Pierce, I think,
- 33:19Speaker 2: which isn't isn't bad. But I know that we've been
- 33:25Speaker 2: in touch with some people down in North Carolina and
- 33:29Speaker 2: Georgia and they're they're complaining about the cold. The governors
- 33:35Speaker 2: in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi and Georgia have all
- 33:42Speaker 2: declared states of emergency. People don't move down there when
- 33:47Speaker 2: it gets a little cold. Everything is relative. We can't say,
- 33:54Speaker 2: you know, well that's not cold, because they could say
- 33:59Speaker 2: to us, well it's ninety five up there, that's not hot.
- 34:07Speaker 2: More than two hundred and twenty million people across forty
- 34:09Speaker 2: states are affected by the bitterly cold hair, with the
- 34:15Speaker 2: upper Midwest and the northern Plains likely to experience wind
- 34:19Speaker 2: chills as low as fifty five degrees below zero this week.
- 34:28Speaker 2: If you were a governor, would you declare that as
- 34:32Speaker 2: a state of emergency? I would think yes. I mean again,
- 34:41Speaker 2: these people don't they they don't know how to deal
- 34:44Speaker 2: with temperatures like that. That's crazy. And throw in some
- 34:54Speaker 2: snowfall and in some areas some pretty heavy snowfall. Fifty
- 35:01Speaker 2: five below with temperatures like that, if your skin is exposed,
- 35:06Speaker 2: it can it can cause hypothermia in a matter of minutes.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Really is just crazy crazy. Yeah, I'm the only one
- 35:29Speaker 2: in the shop not bundled up. Usual wardrobe shorts and shorts,
- 35:34Speaker 2: leave shirt. Yeah, there's a blizzard watch in New Orleans.
- 35:40Speaker 2: I mean unbelievable. Do they have to deal with the
- 35:45Speaker 2: clean heat act as well. Nope, my niece is is
- 36:00Speaker 2: and will be for a few more days down at
- 36:03Speaker 2: the inauguration and was there yesterday and has sent me
- 36:11Speaker 2: some pictures which are pretty pretty amazing. Everybody's got the
- 36:20Speaker 2: black bow tie on. I'm not sure if you watched
- 36:28Speaker 2: any of the inauguration yesterday. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And I know I'm friends with all kinds of people,
- 36:44Speaker 2: and I have friends that tuned into the inauguration and
- 36:50Speaker 2: watched every second of it from morning until late last night,
- 36:58Speaker 2: including coverage of President Trump and First Lady Millennia Trump
- 37:13Speaker 2: the inaugural ball dance, and watched the moment that they
- 37:22Speaker 2: shared their first dance last night. Now, for me personally,
- 37:33Speaker 2: I have a million and one things that are more
- 37:37Speaker 2: important for me to do. For others, they wouldn't have
- 37:43Speaker 2: missed it for the world. I respect that, and I
- 37:50Speaker 2: also respect those that couldn't have cared less about a
- 37:58Speaker 2: second of the accuration yesterday. Becky says it was like
- 38:08Speaker 2: a train wreck, couldn't look away, caused a lot of anxiety.
- 38:14Speaker 2: President Trump signed a series of executive actions within hours
- 38:19Speaker 2: after taking office on Monday, signing them each of them
- 38:30Speaker 2: in their own leather bound Buck signed each of them
- 38:38Speaker 2: with a different pen. Had to laugh about that. This morning,
- 38:46Speaker 2: revoking seventy eight of Joe Biden's policies, seventy eight among
- 38:57Speaker 2: a slew of immediate orders, Trump pardoned more than a
- 39:04Speaker 2: thousand people charged in the January sixth, twenty twenty one
- 39:09Speaker 2: attack on the US Capitol. And for the folks that
- 39:14Speaker 2: don't like Trump this morning, that is one of several
- 39:21Speaker 2: reasons for you to be infuriated. Some of you frustrated,
- 39:29Speaker 2: some of you could care less. Is there an executive
- 39:40Speaker 2: order that says that you cannot wear shorts outdoors if
- 39:44Speaker 2: it's below zero? I don't think that one made the
- 39:51Speaker 2: list yesterday. But the full, complete and unconditional pardons extend
- 39:58Speaker 2: to people who were convey of some of the worst
- 40:02Speaker 2: crimes committed on the day of the capital insurrection. Trump
- 40:07Speaker 2: also declared a national emergency at the US Mexico border,
- 40:13Speaker 2: national emergency, triggering the use of Pentagon resources in personnel,
- 40:22Speaker 2: personnel that will be deployed and used to build the
- 40:26Speaker 2: border wall. I thought that was all built up. Meanwhile,
- 40:34Speaker 2: the Trump administration is withdrawing the US from the Paris
- 40:39Speaker 2: Climate Agreement, and the who the World Health Organization. Some
- 40:55Speaker 2: of these things have made my eyebrows lift as they
- 41:00Speaker 2: are right now, and some not. Wow. In his formal
- 41:13Speaker 2: address yesterday, I thought he had generally some pretty good comments,
- 41:27Speaker 2: and I again, I don't know if you saw that.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Some of it was making me wonder if the fact
- 41:37Speaker 2: checkers were busy at work. That's what Trump does. He
- 41:45Speaker 2: throws out facts that may not be facts. I mean,
- 41:53Speaker 2: come on, hasn't haven't all presidents done that? Haven't all
- 41:58Speaker 2: politicians done that? But some of the things that he
- 42:03Speaker 2: said in his formal address yesterday I thought were well said.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Some I couldn't believe. Some comments I couldn't believe. And
- 42:17Speaker 2: then when he went downstairs and addressed the overflow crowd
- 42:28Speaker 2: informally that would be informal with a capital capital I,
- 42:37Speaker 2: I mean it was. I couldn't believe it. I know
- 42:45Speaker 2: some of you say, JD, you shouldn't be surprised, you
- 42:51Speaker 2: should believe it, But I couldn't believe how informal the
- 42:56Speaker 2: ramblings were yesterday to that crowd, completely unbridled, no teleprompter,
- 43:16Speaker 2: no direction, rambling all over the place, talking like you
- 43:26Speaker 2: would if you were at a cocktail party and it was.
- 43:36Speaker 2: It was it was surprising. That's the only word I
- 43:42Speaker 2: can come up with to witness some of that. And
- 43:49Speaker 2: as Dave says, he got worse as the day went on.
- 43:53Speaker 2: I mean, I just I couldn't belief how casual and
- 44:06Speaker 2: informal it was. I know people who are fans of
- 44:17Speaker 2: Trump who were even saying it texted me last night,
- 44:22Speaker 2: just please stop. Stop. Somebody bring out the big hook
- 44:32Speaker 2: and just pull them off away from the mic. Did
- 44:38Speaker 2: you see the look on JD Vance's face yesterday and
- 44:46Speaker 2: the other guy his name is drawn a blank, who
- 44:49Speaker 2: was standing to Trump's left as they were downstairs during
- 44:56Speaker 2: that very informal What was it a speech? It wasn't
- 45:01Speaker 2: wasn't it wasn't a speech?
- 45:03Speaker 3: Was it?
- 45:05Speaker 2: Whatever? It was? The look on those guys on their faces,
- 45:13Speaker 2: totally uncomfortable. I mean, at one point, the guy that
- 45:28Speaker 2: Trump's left it took his glasses off and was like
- 45:32Speaker 2: kind of did one of these He was like rubbed
- 45:37Speaker 2: his eyes and like put his glasses back on and
- 45:40Speaker 2: kind of blinked a few times like this as if
- 45:43Speaker 2: to say, where am I What is happening right now? Amazing? Yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 2: Dave says we should see cabinet members getting fired or
- 46:06Speaker 2: quitting soon. Dave, there are people that would say to
- 46:16Speaker 2: you and to me, don't be surprised. The older I get,
- 46:26Speaker 2: the less I'm surprised by frankly, anything anything. A lot
- 46:34Speaker 2: of a lot of sirens this morning in Berry, very
- 46:43Speaker 2: very active mourning for first responders, and I'm not sure
- 46:48Speaker 2: what the hell's going on, but they have been ripping
- 46:51Speaker 2: up and down North Main Street here in I think,
- 46:58Speaker 2: mostly to the east all morning. So I hope everybody
- 47:04Speaker 2: is okay. Yeah, a fire in Montpellier is what Hillary's saying.
- 47:25Speaker 2: And a fire in Richmond this morning as well. My god,
- 47:30Speaker 2: I hope everyone is okay. Have you seen the pictures
- 47:38Speaker 2: and or the video of this fire that broke out
- 47:41Speaker 2: at this ski resort hotel in northwestern Turkey. I've heard
- 47:54Speaker 2: in the news that ten people have died. I've heard
- 47:58Speaker 2: that seventy people have died in that investigators are working
- 48:08Speaker 2: to determine the cause of the blaze at this popular
- 48:12Speaker 2: winter vacation destination again in northwestern Turkey. And some of
- 48:20Speaker 2: the videos that have been shared on social media and
- 48:23Speaker 2: broadcast on TV in Turkey showing flames coming out of
- 48:29Speaker 2: the top floors of this hotel. Video of people tying
- 48:38Speaker 2: bed sheets together to try to escape this fire. Two
- 48:42Speaker 2: hundred and thirty four guests staying in the hotel. Two
- 48:47Speaker 2: hundred and thirty four people. Insanity. Yeah, amazing, I'm just
- 49:07Speaker 2: glancing here. You know, We've got some really big stories
- 49:13Speaker 2: that are going on in our nation, and I'm not
- 49:18Speaker 2: sure if some of the stupid shit, like what's going
- 49:24Speaker 2: on with Costco and members of the Teamsters union that
- 49:29Speaker 2: have authorized a strike against Costco on February first, unless
- 49:37Speaker 2: they reach a deal before then. I'm not sure if
- 49:41Speaker 2: stories like this are just timed perfectly in order to
- 49:47Speaker 2: distract us, But sometimes it seems that way. Eighteen thousand
- 49:53Speaker 2: Costco workers are set to go on strike at fifty
- 49:57Speaker 2: six warehouses across five states starting February first. Contract expires
- 50:06Speaker 2: January thirty first. Stuff like that. You know, It's like,
- 50:12Speaker 2: I don't know, so many bigger things that are more
- 50:21Speaker 2: worthy of my attention. Two massive wildfires erupted in Los Angeles.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Eight people have been arrested in southern California. Eight accused
- 50:49Speaker 2: of setting these fires in southern California, setting trees, bushes,
- 50:57Speaker 2: leaves on fire, and dead Christmas trees that have been
- 51:04Speaker 2: left out for trash collection. People that have nothing better
- 51:16Speaker 2: to do then walk around with a blow torch literally
- 51:25Speaker 2: and do stuff like this. Eight people. I wonder what
- 51:34Speaker 2: will happen to those eight I wonder if they'll get
- 51:43Speaker 2: a slap on the wrist. I wonder who will even
- 51:51Speaker 2: attempt to try to represent them? Amazing? What else is happening?
- 52:04Speaker 2: Ohio State Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff National Championship
- 52:09Speaker 2: last night, beating Notre Dame thirty four to twenty three.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Pretty cool Buckeyes thrilled? Super Bowl coming up? What is
- 52:21Speaker 2: it Sunday? The Is it the ninth? I'm pretty sure
- 52:27Speaker 2: I should know. Shame on you, JD? Should know this.
- 52:37Speaker 2: What else did I want to tell you about? Oh Man?
- 52:45Speaker 2: I don't want to talk too much about this about
- 52:47Speaker 2: the Trump merchandise that you can buy now. I don't
- 52:56Speaker 2: want to go too deep into the first lady's fashion state. Yesterday, Shit,
- 53:02Speaker 2: I heard Sharlyn what the hell is you wearing? What
- 53:05Speaker 2: is that sombrero? But now we have news out this
- 53:14Speaker 2: morning about Trump creating his new bitcoin mean coins with Millennia.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Are you surprised by that? Come on, JD? You can't
- 53:40Speaker 2: be surprised. It's been in the news for months. Bitcoin
- 53:48Speaker 2: hits a new record of one hundred and nine thousand
- 53:57Speaker 2: dollars do we even say dollars anymore? After they launched
- 54:08Speaker 2: these meme coins one hundred and nine k. Bitcoin stock
- 54:18Speaker 2: has jumped forty percent since Trump was elected in November.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I'm saying to the whole bitcoin thing, thanks, but no thanks.
- 54:45Speaker 2: I'm good man. There's some crazy, crazy shit going on
- 54:55Speaker 2: in our world. Thanks for the comments this morning, boy,
- 55:05Speaker 2: there's a lot of them. What's my Super Bowl prediction?
- 55:14Speaker 2: Am I really the person that you want to ask
- 55:16Speaker 2: that question too? I don't. I always go for the underdog.
- 55:27Speaker 2: What can I say? I don't know. I don't know.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I'll be happy to sit with a warm blanket and
- 55:37Speaker 2: maybe some of my famous beef stew. That's my prediction
- 55:44Speaker 2: for Super Bowl Sunday. Uh? What else? What's whacked in
- 55:51Speaker 2: the world? Oh? My god, so much, so much. Just
- 55:55Speaker 2: turn your phone on like I did yesterday and saw
- 55:59Speaker 2: that this woman and in Texas just won two point
- 56:02Speaker 2: eight million dollars in court after a restaurant's barbecue sauce
- 56:08Speaker 2: burned her leg. She dropped the container and it caused
- 56:12Speaker 2: a second degree burn. This restaurant allegedly serves their barbecue
- 56:21Speaker 2: sauce at one hundred and eighty nine degrees. Is that boiling?
- 56:27Speaker 2: I mean, getting burned by coffee is bad enough, but
- 56:32Speaker 2: this is more like like napalm delicious napalm, yes, but
- 56:40Speaker 2: still nonetheless. I mean, you can mentioned dropping one hundred
- 56:43Speaker 2: and eighty nine degree barbecue sauce on your leg guessing
- 56:48Speaker 2: she was wearing shorts. Don't know, Bill Miller. Barbecue is
- 56:53Speaker 2: the name of the restaurant. Restaurant Shan in Texas got
- 56:59Speaker 2: about eighty one locations Corpus Christy and Austin and elsewhere.
- 57:08Speaker 2: She ordered four of the breakfast tacos with the side
- 57:13Speaker 2: of barbecue sauce, pulled into the parking lot to eat.
- 57:20Speaker 2: First of all, I understand Texas doesn't play around, but
- 57:26Speaker 2: who the hell's eating barbecue sauce for breakfast? Maybe they
- 57:29Speaker 2: do in Texas, but I don't want barbecue sauce on
- 57:36Speaker 2: my breakfast burrito, hot or cold barbecue sauce. But apparently
- 57:45Speaker 2: second degree burns for a reference here, and I'm just
- 57:53Speaker 2: looking at water boils at two hundred and twelve degrees
- 57:57Speaker 2: and this barbecue sauce was one hundred and eight nine degrees,
- 58:01Speaker 2: so not too far off. Wow. Impairment, disfigurement, medical expenses,
- 58:13Speaker 2: lost wages, physical and mental pain. Restaurant one hundred percent
- 58:19Speaker 2: negligent and awarded her two point eight million dollars in damages. Wow.
- 58:33Speaker 2: There's a lot of heavy stuff in the news. I know,
- 58:37Speaker 2: and I know that so many of you are a
- 58:44Speaker 2: discouraged and hopeless and everything about yesterday. But look at
- 58:54Speaker 2: what's in front of you and focus on your own life,
- 59:04Speaker 2: what's important to you and the obvious good things that
- 59:11Speaker 2: we have in front of us. Lighten up a little bit,
- 59:19Speaker 2: prioritize things that are or should be most important to you,
- 59:28Speaker 2: because at the end of the day, that's what matters.
- 59:33Speaker 2: I leave you with something a little light this morning.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Maybe put a smile on your kisser. The woman in
- 59:43Speaker 2: Turkey who is a proud world record holder Guinness Book
- 59:53Speaker 2: of World Records after using her power This is a
- 59:58Speaker 2: true story, Dave, I'm not making this up, after using
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: her powerful thighs to crush the world record five watermelons
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: in sixty seconds. People take this stuff seriously. Guinness Book
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: of World Records sitting on the ground, putting a watermelon
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: between your legs and crushing it with your powerful thighs.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: How many can you do in sixty seconds? Thanks for
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: liking and following the page. Don't forget to comment any
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: episode that you enjoy. We are always live, always local,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: never edited from fly Oil production, streamed everywhere you get
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: your podcasts in on the web. It aired out FT
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: dot com. Be well everyone, yes, please do like Dave
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: and keep smiling. Okay, we'll be okay. Stay warmed.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: About to bat.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: To the.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Bank. Let's go to bat. The papers don't baking by
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: to Burton, the papers by the banking
