- 0:11Musk's company, and Jeff Bezos's company Blue Origin, when they
- 0:15successfully launched the world's first methane fueled
- 0:18rocket into orbit. The Chinese company Land Space
- 0:22accomplished his feet with a rocket that was launched from
- 0:25the Gobi desert. This not only marks a
- 0:27significant step forward in China's ambitious space program,
- 0:31but also underscores the escalating competition in the
- 0:34field of space exploration globally.
- 0:36American companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin have also been
- 0:39working on developing methane fueled rockets, also known as
- 0:43methalox, largely due to their environmental and cost benefits.
- 0:47However, their attempts so far have been met with setbacks such
- 0:50as the destruction of SpaceX Starship and the failed launch
- 0:53of Relativity Spaces Turn 1. With China's successful launch,
- 0:57the landscape of the International Space Race

- 1:12Now in a notable stride in the high stakes race of space
- 1:14exploration, China has outpaced US firm SpaceX and Blue Origin
- 1:19by successfully launching the world's first methyl locks
- 1:22rocket into orbit. This achievement underscores the
- 1:24fierce competition in constant innovation in this new frontier,
- 1:29reshaping the dynamics of the International Space Race.
- 1:32Now this China company Land Space launched its rocket from
- 1:36the vast expanse of the Gobi Desert last Tuesday.
- 1:39The rocket ascended into the Earth's orbit shortly afterward,
- 1:42marking a significant milestone in China's ambitious space
- 1:45program. The successful launch was
- 1:48further confirmed by the US Space Force tracking the rocket,
- 1:51according to a tweet from astrophysicist Jonathan McDowell
- 1:54on Wednesday. What sets this rocket apart from
- 1:57its contemporaries is its use of Methalox, A composite liquid
- 2:01fuel derived from methane and oxygen.
- 2:04This fuel type is garnering considerable attention from many
- 2:07U.S. companies, all of whom have so far not managed to reach
- 2:10orbit with their Methalox fueled rockets.
- 2:13Spacex's Colossal Starship Mega rocket is about 400 plus feet
- 2:18tall. Another entrant in the methane
- 2:20fueled category, Many cataclysmic end in April when it
- 2:24was destroyed on a Stevia launch.
- 2:26Similarly, Relativity Spaces Terran One, which also employs
- 2:30Methalox, failed to achieve the orbit in its maiden launch in
- 2:33March. Now Jeff Bezos is Blue Origins
- 2:37New Glen. Its future hangs in the balance
- 2:40after the explosion of the BE4 engine during a test in June, as
- 2:43reported by space.com. And all these developments
- 2:46underline the difficulties faced by these space companies in
- 2:50their quest to develop a methane fueled rocket capable of
- 2:53reaching Earth's orbit. Now, what makes Methyloxy
- 2:56coveted fuel for deep space exploration and reusable rockets
- 3:00is its cost effectiveness, stability in environmentally
- 3:04friendly attributes all superior to conventional kerosene based
- 3:07fuels. Furthermore, the potential of
- 3:10mining methane off world, for instance, on Mars, makes it a
- 3:14compelling choice for companies like SpaceX aiming for the
- 3:17colonization of the Red Planet. Now this latest launch marks
- 3:20only the second launch attempt for this company.
- 3:23Also known as Redbird 2, the rocket encountered A malfunction
- 3:27during its first launch in December of 2022.
- 3:31In The medium sized rocket, standing about 162 feet tall, is
- 3:35designed to transport payloads into low Earth orbit and further
- 3:39into space. However, while the successful
- 3:42launch is a undeniable triumph for China, it's important to
- 3:45note the loftier ambitions harbored by U.S. companies for
- 3:48their methane fueled rockets. For instance, SpaceX, a Starship
- 3:52which is about 2.5 times taller than the Red Bird, has been
- 3:56conceptualized to ferry Cruise to the Moon, adding layers of
- 4:00complexity to its launch. Also, that rocket will be
- 4:03launching people to Mars someday, and also building a
- 4:06space colony on the surface of Mars.
- 4:09Now Relativity Space is attempting to revolutionize the
- 4:12industry by 3D printing most of its rockets, an unprecedented
- 4:17move in the industry. Nonetheless, the successful
- 4:21launch of the Red Bird rocket represents another feather in
- 4:24the cap of China's rapidly growing space program.
- 4:28Over the past five years, the program has accomplished huge
- 4:31major feats, including launching A crude space station into
- 4:35orbit, landing a Rover on Mars, and sending a probe to the far
- 4:39side of the moon. Since the Chinese government
- 4:41opened the space sector to private investment in 2014,
- 4:45private firms have been vying for supremacy in this lucrative
- 4:49industry. Land Space, one of the earliest
- 4:51entrance, has emerged as one of the best funded entities in the
- 4:55Chinese private space sector. And as the latest achievement
- 4:58shows, the competition in the International Space Race is
