- 0:02Hi there. Welcome back to, she speaks live
- 0:04podcast where women shared their faith stories.
- 0:07I'm Jamie Elizabeth and I am bringing you Natalia drum for
- 0:11this week's encouragement. Natalia is a lover of God's word
- 0:15and is the founder of girlfriends.
- 0:17In the word. She is going to share with us.
- 0:20Her struggles and building friendships and community that
- 0:23led her to open her home to lead Bible studies.
- 0:27She knows how important it is to have friends.
- 0:30Friendship and although it's essential life, it can also be
- 0:33really hard. I can't wait for you to glean
- 0:36from her encouragement. So let's jump into our
- 0:38conversation. Hey Natalia.
- 0:42Welcome to, she speaks life. I'm so glad you're here.
- 0:46Thank, you have for having me. Jamie, I'm so honored to be on
- 0:48here with you. Yeah.
- 0:50Okay. So before we dive into what
- 0:52you're going to share, I always like to ask our guest.
- 0:57Is there a special Bible verse that really you just hold dear
- 1:03to your heart that really Gets You Through maybe your ups and
- 1:06your Downs. Well I think I've had a few
- 1:09different ones over my life but one Really it's been pretty
- 1:12striking in the last. I'd say a decade of my life has
- 1:15been Ephesians chapter 3, starting at verse 17, and Paul
- 1:19tells the Ephesians and you know, he's praying for them and
- 1:21he said so that Christ May dwell in your hearts through faith and
- 1:24I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have
- 1:27power together with all the Lord's people to grasp, how
- 1:30wide, and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
- 1:33And to know that this love surpasses knowledge that you may
- 1:36be filled to the measure of all of the fullness of God.
- 1:40And I have I've just really clung to that because it can
- 1:44always feel like, you know, there's so much happening in my
- 1:47life and really the most important thing is that I'm
- 1:51rooted and established in him and that if I can stay there
- 1:54with him abide in him and be rooted in him, all the rest of
- 1:58the stuff kind of gets taken care of, on its own.
- 2:01And so that's kind of been, one of the passages.
- 2:03I keep coming back to over and over again.
- 2:06Yeah, such a beautiful verse, you know, passage and you're
- 2:10right. I mean it's like if we're not
- 2:12rooted then we're just all over the place, right?
- 2:14So this is a good foundational. Verse that.
- 2:18We need to grab onto on a daily basis.
- 2:22So I know both of us we have a lot in common when it comes to
- 2:28the love of God's word and bible studies and all that good stuff
- 2:34and you have a community called girlfriends in the word and so I
- 2:40would Just love for you just to share with us where this all
- 2:45began. I know we're going to talk about
- 2:47just meeting friendships and community and you know, the
- 2:52struggles with that and the good things with that.
- 2:55So let's just begin with Where it All Began for you.
- 3:01Well, I think it All Began pretty early on into my 20s
- 3:06which, you know, it's such a transitional time, such a hard
- 3:09time, I find in many If you get out of college, you get into a
- 3:13career or you get married and begin to have a family and do
- 3:16all the things that you grow up waiting to do and you find it,
- 3:20can be incredibly isolating or lonely or you get out of youth
- 3:24group or college Ministries. If you've grown up in the church
- 3:27and you're, you're a young adult and you're kind of thrown into
- 3:30the world and you're like, how do I do this?
- 3:32And who do I have alongside me to do this?
- 3:35And I was working in the public school system and, you know, I
- 3:39would go to church on They but really wasn't connected with a
- 3:43group of women. And then when you have children,
- 3:45I found at least for myself, it felt very isolating and
- 3:49overwhelming. And even as I transition out of
- 3:52the workforce and into the home, that was even more isolating and
- 3:56overwhelming. Because now, I didn't even have
- 3:58people in the workforce to talk to, and so I really began to
- 4:03realize how much I lacked community and that I was craving
- 4:10a deeper relationship. Relationship with God in a
- 4:11deeper relationship with other women.
- 4:13But the culture has really sold us this lie, that women are a
- 4:17competition and that women are our enemies.
- 4:22And so I really struggled with how do I build good healthy
- 4:25relationships with Christian women and so I brought this
- 4:29problem to God and was like I don't have friends and I don't
- 4:32have community and I think I need this and rather than him.
- 4:37Give me give me the answer. He told me to, like, find the
- 4:41answer to fix the problem. So I always warn people like be
- 4:45careful what you ask God for because often he's going to,
- 4:47he's going to give you a solution but it's going to
- 4:49require a lot of work. And so he basically told me if
- 4:52you want to be a friend if you want to have friends, be a
- 4:55friend and put the burden of work on me.
- 4:58And so I began to to Really seek out friendship and put a lot of
- 5:03effort into being a friend to people.
- 5:07And several years went by and I had gotten involved in a local
- 5:09church and begun to go to different Church groups.
- 5:12And Begin to observe how these relationships worked within the
- 5:17church and how women genuinely authentically came to grow with
- 5:22one another love one another. And after some time, I really
- 5:26felt like the Lord was telling me it's time for you to, like,
- 5:28do this in your home. And so, I threw it up on
- 5:32Facebook and my husband, and I had agreed to start hosting
- 5:36small groups. We started hosting a couple's
- 5:38group through our church and then it led to me hosting a
- 5:41small group of women in my home. I learned to be very transparent
- 5:45and say I'm struggling with understanding how to read God's
- 5:49word. Is there anybody else who's
- 5:51struggling and can we do this together?
- 5:52And so we started that process and then the next thing I knew I
- 5:57began writing Bible studies basically out of the needs that
- 6:01the girls in my group were having.
- 6:02And so they would say, hey, I'm really struggling with this
- 6:06topic. What does God's word say about
- 6:08it? And so I would research it and
- 6:10study it and then write something up on it and then we
- 6:13would come together. Weather and walk through it
- 6:15together. And so that's really how
- 6:17girlfriends in the world began was just I needed girlfriends
- 6:21and I needed relationships that weren't going to be Based on the
- 6:25culture of this world, like I wanted relationships that were
- 6:28going to be based on God's word and who he is and would have an
- 6:31eternal Kingdom impact. Not just, you know, a bunch of
- 6:37girls getting together for coffee and bashing their
- 6:39husbands or, you know, complaining or gossiping or
- 6:42tearing things down, I wanted something different.
- 6:46And so that's really kind of how it started in over the last
- 6:49goodness, I would say eight years of God's really grown that
- 6:54inch. Change that and shifted that
- 6:56into a whole big thing. And so that's kind of the
- 6:59origins of where we were and where we are now.
- 7:02Mmm, so beautiful. Just like that.
- 7:04Small little. Yes, and how that grew and your
- 7:08obedience to him, just to be there for other women.
- 7:13And you know, so true about us being the ones that need to be
- 7:18intentional with getting together with other girls and I
- 7:25know that's a struggle when for me for instance I'm very
- 7:31independent. So unless somebody's reaching
- 7:34out to me, hey, let's get together then, you know, I'm
- 7:37going out, right? You know, for lunch or coffee
- 7:40but I'm not the one to initiate it and that's my weakness.
- 7:45I need to initiate it because what happens is, I find myself
- 7:49in this isolation or I'm doing my, my work, my writing my
- 7:53podcasting and I'm In my own bubble, on my, oh my gosh.
- 7:57It's been weeks since I got together with girlfriends.
- 8:01This is not healthy. And this is when I'm in my down
- 8:05time of not being involved in a Bible study and a command Bible
- 8:10study through a local church. But so with that, that's great.
- 8:14Because then I'm there every week surrounding myself, with
- 8:18other women who are diving into God's word.
- 8:22And like you said there is like, just Something, just so strong.
- 8:27I mean, it's God is what it is. That bond that we women have
- 8:31together when we study his word and I love that, you went ahead
- 8:37and wrote These studies based on the felt needs of these other
- 8:43women. So what would you suggest you
- 8:46know, part of getting yourself out there to initiate getting
- 8:50into a Bible study and a community there?
- 8:54That feeling of rejected or what?
- 8:57If I get hurt because we go, you know, in our past experiences
- 9:02and it holds us up from, you know, moving forward, I mean, do
- 9:06you have an experience like that that happened to you, or can you
- 9:11share some encouragement for that?
- 9:14Woman that friend that's listening that maybe has gotten
- 9:17rejected in the past? How can she just move forward?
- 9:21Well, let's just take away the stigma.
- 9:24Emma and let you know that you are going to be rejected.
- 9:27Like let's just put that out there and set the expectation to
- 9:32be not. Everybody is going to be your
- 9:34people. And so it will often take and I
- 9:37found it would take maybe a hundred invitations for somebody
- 9:41to respond. And if we sit and take all those
- 9:45things, personally, it becomes about us.
- 9:48And it becomes about, like, my perception, my self-worth.
- 9:52My identity. As opposed to Just my obedience.
- 9:56And so I think we definitely have to get comfortable with a
- 10:02little bit of rejection. We have to get comfortable with
- 10:05attempting different groups and I think if you have a church
- 10:08that has like multiple small groups, or life groups, or
- 10:11Community groups that you feel comfortable to say, you know
- 10:14what, I'm going to try this one and if it doesn't fit, I can go
- 10:17try something else until I can find a tribe or a community of
- 10:20people that I can feel confident.
- 10:24Eating in. And that's, you know, we don't
- 10:26want to be group, Hoppers, you know, we don't want to just try
- 10:29to go shopping for a small group or a community.
- 10:33We want to really think are these people that I'm willing to
- 10:36invest time and talent and treasure into and, and be open
- 10:41to it. Not looking like what you think
- 10:44it should look like, I think we have this perception with these
- 10:48like perfectly cultivated pictures of friend groups on
- 10:51Instagram or girls night events on Pinterest.
- 10:54Sure, and all those things are so staged.
- 10:57And we forget that there, that there the highlight reels, but
- 11:01the everyday relationships are really messy showing up for a
- 11:04friend when they've had a miscarriage.
- 11:07Is heartbreaking, you know, not having the right words to say to
- 11:10a girlfriend who's walking through.
- 11:11Adoption is complicated doing the day-to-day life that God has
- 11:17called us to do and disciple. One, another as women is going
- 11:21to cause heartache, we're going to be hurt and in process.
- 11:24Yes, we're going to hurt other people's.
- 11:26The point of being together in community is that we build
- 11:30relationships, where we learn to, trust the heart of one
- 11:33another, so that when we do screw things up, we can say, you
- 11:36know, I'm sorry, I didn't do that, right?
- 11:38Or I mess this up, or I didn't know what to say, can you
- 11:40forgive me? But we've learned to trust one
- 11:43another one another's heart, and just have built relationships.
- 11:47So if you have been burned, And I have, I have been, I have been
- 11:51wounded. I have been hurt.
- 11:53I have been burned in the church out of the church in.
- 11:56All those situations that doesn't give us a pass to move
- 12:01forward in faith, right? Because the enemy would have us
- 12:04believe hey, you've been hurt. You should never put yourself
- 12:08out there again. And what he's really doing is
- 12:11keeping us from wonderful things because we learn so much from
- 12:15those seasons of rejection and we can walk better in the future
- 12:19because of And if we allow the Lord to teach us through it, if
- 12:21I let him soften my heart and I let him like, use that
- 12:26experience for good and I trust that he is good.
- 12:29Then he can redeem all those things and sometimes we have to
- 12:32learn where we don't belong to know where we do belong.
- 12:35Does that make sense? I love that.
- 12:37Yes, totally makes sense. And you know that brings me back
- 12:42to when covid-19 aound with the lockdown that type of season
- 12:48where We're all staying at home and, you know, I just went out
- 12:53there and did like, a public thing on social media.
- 12:56My newsletter from the podcast, the listeners, and I just said,
- 13:02hey, if anybody is interested in doing an online Bible study, you
- 13:07know, let me know. This is the study that I'm
- 13:09thinking about doing and there were so many women from other
- 13:13states and it just showed that women are hungry.
- 13:18They want to Long to something, they're hungry for God's word,
- 13:22they're hungry for companionship, you know, and I
- 13:25don't think it's any different than the now.
- 13:28I think we're all hungry for that and you know, of course,
- 13:33there were thoughts in my mind of what if it's crickets, you
- 13:38know, nobody wants to and, you know, am I going to be okay with
- 13:41that? And I think it's important that
- 13:44we just push that aside because like you said, it's not about
- 13:47you, it's about other women and you're not.
- 13:49Not going to know until you step out and do that thing that God
- 13:53has called you and put that assignment.
- 13:55If you will on your heart to go. Do I know people they have their
- 14:00quiet time. They think.
- 14:01Oh, that's fine. Do I really need a Community
- 14:04Bible Study like what would you say to those women who may feel
- 14:09that way? Do I need both my quiet time and
- 14:12Community Bible study? Well I would say absolutely yes
- 14:15and one of the things that I've learned so deeply in seminary
- 14:19and is Grad school studies is that theology is not done in
- 14:23isolation. Like if we just go back to the
- 14:26beginning when God creates everything, he doesn't create
- 14:29things in isolation. He himself is community, Father,
- 14:33Son, and Holy Spirit. And so, I think if we're going
- 14:35to model our lives and they in the one whose image were made,
- 14:39we were made for community. And I think even in Genesis
- 14:43where it talks about is not good for man to be alone, we we
- 14:46assign that to marriage but it's not.
- 14:49Just a marriage command, it's a communal command.
- 14:52Its were made to work within an individual person with an
- 14:57identity within a community. And so, it could be really
- 15:01dangerous when Christians, especially isolate themselves
- 15:05and they say, oh, I don't need to go to church.
- 15:07Oh, I don't need a community group.
- 15:09I don't need a tribe because the truth of the matter is, if life
- 15:12is hard, and we need encouragement, Hebrews talks
- 15:15about the encouraging, one, another up daily, because that
- 15:18grows our faith. And so, yes, we absolutely need
- 15:22to be in God's word for ourselves.
- 15:24We need to be studying his word for ourselves so we can check
- 15:27what we're being taught and we can be independent Learners and
- 15:30independent Growers, but we're also called as Christians to be
- 15:35in community. It's a command to not forsake
- 15:38the Gathering Together of Believers and I know that
- 15:41there's been a lot of Hot Topics in the last couple years,
- 15:45because of covid and fears, and all the different things, but
- 15:48they're not new. Ruggles the early church when
- 15:51those commands were written in the first century, they were at
- 15:54the risk of death by the emperor.
- 15:57If they gathered, if they profess their faith in the
- 15:59command was still to gather. I mean to do it safely and
- 16:03indiscreetly or covertly if needed but they were not given a
- 16:07free pass to stop because there's a powerful powerful
- 16:10thing that happens when Believers come together and they
- 16:13work as the body, you know, like it would be just as ridiculous
- 16:17for being a say to my own personal.
- 16:20Oh, I you don't need to work today, you can be independent.
- 16:23Well yeah, the I can still see if I only use one of them but
- 16:26it's so much better. If I use both my eyes and it's
- 16:29the eyesight is so much better, if I use my brain and, you know,
- 16:32my arm is so much better with my fingers, so it would be
- 16:35ridiculous for me to be, you know, pinky finger, you can be
- 16:38on your own today. You don't need the rest of the
- 16:40body. No, you need all of it and so we
- 16:42need that community and that happens when we come together as
- 16:45Believers in the church, in community groups, in Bible
- 16:50study. And I think specifically in
- 16:52Bible study groups, if this is crucial that we do this together
- 16:56because it helps us as a checks and balance.
- 16:59When somebody comes together and they say, you know, I read this
- 17:02passage and I'm confused about this.
- 17:05Then we have other people who maybe have more experience or
- 17:08more depth of study or different things, dissect the passage
- 17:12together so that we don't go crazy with our theology or that
- 17:16we don't go high into the right or Skew what God's word says
- 17:21that we kind of work as guard, rails for one another and we
- 17:23say, Hey, you know, let's take a look at this and let's study
- 17:27this and, you know, have you thought about it this way?
- 17:29Or do you see this perspective on it?
- 17:31So I think it keeps our Theology and check and I think it's an
- 17:34obedience to God's command to work together as the body.
- 17:38So good. And I love just gleaning off of
- 17:41what other people get from the Holy Spirit, when they get, you
- 17:45know, something totally different than you did in that
- 17:48scripture. Verse, you know, it's just so
- 17:51good to hear what your friend next to you.
- 17:54Is getting out of that because the Holy Spirit speaks to us, so
- 17:59uniquely. And I just love that part of so
- 18:02learning from each other. Okay, so in our quiet time, you
- 18:06know, if somebody's just starting out like where would
- 18:09you say? Hey just start with this book of
- 18:12the Bible and you know do you have some specific method and
- 18:16studying the Bible? Absolutely.
- 18:18So, Especially for somebody that's come kind of coming into
- 18:21the faith new or they're you know, they want to do a
- 18:25systematic study of scripture. I always loved starting in the
- 18:29New Testament, specifically in the Book of John, it's such a
- 18:33great gospel and it gives such a beautiful picture of who God is
- 18:37and what Jesus does. And so you know, starting with a
- 18:41book specifically it from beginning to end and I always
- 18:45tell I always tell people you know when you're studying
- 18:47scripture, you you Don't want to just flip open your Bible and
- 18:51say, hey, I'm going to read this chapter today because the verse
- 18:54is part of a story and a chapter, the chapter is part of
- 18:56an argument in the book. The book is part of the
- 18:59meta-narrative or the big story of the Bible as a whole.
- 19:03And when we start with a small piece, we don't really
- 19:06understand all of it. And so, starting with an entire
- 19:09book reading through a book, I tell my friends in our Friday
- 19:13night, bible study, we're walking through the book of
- 19:15Hebrews and it's a hard book. It's got a lot of like what are
- 19:17called Problem, passages. A lot of meat could accept and
- 19:22one of the things I tell them when we start is, listen to the
- 19:24book in one setting, like put on your phone app on your Bible app
- 19:29and listen to the book from first chapter to last chapter
- 19:32and don't stop. And, you know, it could take 45
- 19:36minutes but like do it while you're doing laundry or dishes
- 19:38or driving. And here, the entire book before
- 19:42you study it and then go back in and then do the chapter slowly.
- 19:47I think there's a very big rush We want to like check things off
- 19:51our list and make sure we get through a Bible reading plan or
- 19:55I've knocked this off. My to-do list, when really God
- 19:58desires for us to sit and Savor his word.
- 20:01And so it's okay to slow down. It's okay to sit in one chapter
- 20:05for an entire week and read it over and over and over again.
- 20:09And so what I tell like my Bible students in our high school
- 20:12Co-op is there are four things you want to do when you read
- 20:16God's word? The first thing you want to do
- 20:17and where you want to spend your most high.
- 20:19Is you want to observe? So when I open up a chapter and
- 20:23I'm going to study a passage, I just look, look at all the
- 20:27details. Who is in the chapter?
- 20:29What is happening? What's the setting who's
- 20:32talking? What's the conflict?
- 20:34I mean, scripture is a story and so it reads like we would read a
- 20:38lot of other stories so we want to read it the way it's written.
- 20:42And so just observe, spend some time observing the text and you
- 20:47want to spend the majority of your time there because that's
- 20:49that's where you're going to work out all the details and
- 20:52then the next step I tell them is to ask questions like if you
- 20:54don't know write down your questions because scripture will
- 20:57often answer them somewhere else or you know what to look for.
- 21:01So you know, write down all the questions you have.
- 21:04Why is this important? You know, why is Moses doing
- 21:07this In this passage? Or what does Peter mean by this?
- 21:11And then the next step, I tell them is to investigate.
- 21:14Go look up from different websites like Blue, Letter,
- 21:18Bible, or Bible. Gateway or enduring word, what
- 21:21these things are and what the commentaries have to say on
- 21:24these questions that you have and then the last step is always
- 21:27application. Now that I've read this passage,
- 21:30what has it taught me about God, his character, his nature, his
- 21:35works and his ways and how am I going to change my life?
- 21:38Because of that you know like what am I going to do
- 21:41differently? How am I going to be transformed
- 21:44by his word today? And in that can feel awkward
- 21:46like what does Leviticus matter? My life today when I'm studying
- 21:50Leviticus well it matters a lot because it teaches us God's law,
- 21:54which teaches us God's character, which teaches me God
- 21:57is Holy. So that Baseline of God being
- 21:59holy means I can apply in my life.
- 22:02I need to watch the way that I live because I represent a holy
- 22:05God and so kind of breaking things down to really simple
- 22:09terms. Who is God, what are his ways?
- 22:12And now, how am I going to walk in?
- 22:13It makes scripture feel like it comes so much more to life in
- 22:18our modern world. When in reality it hasn't
- 22:20changed. It's just changed us so good.
- 22:23Okay, tell us about the groups that you teach that you lead.
- 22:27So you have one in your home. Do you have one in another
- 22:31place? And, you know, are those women
- 22:34from your church or did you gather them from your
- 22:37neighborhood or both? Just give us a little picture of
- 22:41how you do your studying with the other ladies.
- 22:44Yeah. So I have a few different
- 22:46groups. First of all, my Wednesday
- 22:47morning, girlfriends, In the word group started from my
- 22:51church and it was like, I pulled a couple friends from church who
- 22:55I thought might be interested. And say, hey, I'm going to start
- 22:58this group in my house on Wednesday mornings.
- 23:00I'm going to have coffee and donuts and childcare, I'll have
- 23:03some teenagers, watch the little ones and let's get together and
- 23:07study God's word. And so it started really, really
- 23:09small and then it kind of became something that as a couple girls
- 23:15and I gathered they began to bring friends.
- 23:17And at this point we cover Probably a hundred miles between
- 23:21the one who lives in the North and one who lives in the South,
- 23:23we have multiple churches and we have age ranges from.
- 23:27I believe the youngest girl is 19 and the oldest lady is in her
- 23:30late 60's. And so it's every generation all
- 23:33different life stages. Which is such a beautiful
- 23:37picture of how the gospel, you know, just connects all of us,
- 23:40it doesn't really matter what season or stage of life, we are
- 23:43in it. Did start out as just a couple
- 23:45of moms, who were kind of all in the season of life and it's just
- 23:48grown And then I teach with my husband on Friday nights, we
- 23:53teach a couple's Group, which kind of grew out of a church
- 23:57event and now hosts, you know, people from all different
- 24:00churches and we, we have like 13 to 15 couples that come to that.
- 24:07And then, I also teach High School Co-op at the home school
- 24:11community group that we work with.
- 24:13And I teach Bible to teenagers. And so we're walking through
- 24:17Bible, Exposition how to read the Bible.
- 24:19And how to study God's word. So I do a little bit of every
- 24:24age range. Both genders all life cycles.
- 24:27It seems like that sounds like so much fun and I think,
- 24:31especially like the high schoolers that are just there
- 24:35and they just they're seeking and they're just discovering and
- 24:40want to learn and what a, what a great way to serve.
- 24:45I've got a couple of teenagers myself and the questions That
- 24:49they come up to ask you, you know, it definitely challenges
- 24:53you, you know, cooking. Sometimes I gotta be like, I
- 24:56gotta get back to you on that one.
- 24:58I'm not sure what, that's a good question, but and now you
- 25:02podcast, so how many years have you podcast and how did that all
- 25:06began? Because, you know, obviously
- 25:08like you've got a calling and assignment from the Lord to be a
- 25:13Bible teacher. And then, when did he just plant
- 25:17the podcasting in your So the podcasting seemed started last
- 25:23year actually the girlfriends in the word podcast.
- 25:25Just hit one years old in August actually.
- 25:29And honestly the seed was planted probably four years ago.
- 25:33I remember when the Lord was like, hey, I think a podcast is
- 25:36coming and I was like, nah, I don't think so.
- 25:38Actually, my husband had bought me all the equipment and I set
- 25:42it all up and then I put it all back in the box and was like,
- 25:44no, I don't think I could do this because it's such a
- 25:47different Dynamic to Teach into a microphone alone at a computer
- 25:51as opposed to teaching a room full of women face to face where
- 25:55you see their emotion. You see their struggle, you
- 25:58know, their lives. However, I really just found
- 26:02that I had so many girls asking for a podcast that I have always
- 26:09just tried to do the next thing to meet their needs and it felt
- 26:11like the next thing to meet their needs.
- 26:14So, you know, I love writing I had blocked for many years but
- 26:18just found we live in such a fast-paced culture that putting
- 26:23are pods in and listening to a podcast.
- 26:25While mom is doing laundry, was much more efficient for her than
- 26:29sitting down and reading a Blog. So podcasting kind of just
- 26:33became the next natural. Yes.
- 26:35In this, you know, ever evolving media culture, that we live in
- 26:39and so the girlfriends in the word podcast kind of walks
- 26:43through different books of the Bible.
- 26:44We've gone through Genesis from Genesis 12 through 50, not
- 26:48necessarily first by verse but more big story, big topic, what
- 26:53is God teaching and telling us through this?
- 26:54So we've done a couple bucks. We did Genesis, we did a fusions
- 26:58and I'm getting ready to ramp up season 2 of the podcast.
- 27:01This. All how cool is that?
- 27:03You had like an audience before you started your podcast?
- 27:09Yeah. Like Karma wants me to start a
- 27:11podcast and then eventually get people.
- 27:14Listen to me. You like his pretty reluctant to
- 27:17do it. It was really the girls who kept
- 27:18pushing and pushing and pushing and I was like, alright, I
- 27:21Surrender I'll do it, I'll do it.
- 27:23That's really cool. But I don't know what a sign is.
- 27:27We all know what, right? That is a huge sign.
- 27:31Man. All right.
- 27:32Well I love to finish off our time together with a takeaway.
- 27:37Is there anything that you can just encourage our listener here
- 27:42and just have her Ponder on something that she can just
- 27:46reflect on when she's done nothing to your story here?
- 27:50Yeah absolutely. I would say to take away.
- 27:52You are one of two women whoever's listening, you're one
- 27:55of two women. You are a woman first of all who
- 27:57maybe God is calling you to open up your home and just invite B,
- 28:01local people in your community or church people who have not
- 28:05yet connected in other places to come into your home and to
- 28:08connect and you don't have to be a Bible scholar to do it.
- 28:11I and I know people hear that and they're like, oh yeah,
- 28:14Natalia. But you're in seminary, and
- 28:15you're doing all these things. But I wasn't when I started, and
- 28:18I didn't have a perfect Hall when I started and I didn't have
- 28:21great furniture and I didn't have a lot of money and I didn't
- 28:24have any of the things that I have.
- 28:27Now, when I started, it was just a simple obedience when God
- 28:30said, hey invite Buddy in. And so you may be the girl who's
- 28:34listening who maybe God has planted something in your heart,
- 28:36and you just kind of felt this tug to invite a friend to
- 28:39coffee, maybe once a week. And maybe just starts as one or
- 28:42two girls. It does not have to be a big
- 28:44thing. Discipleship happens,
- 28:46face-to-face, one-on-one life, change transformation.
- 28:49So, maybe that's you. And I would just say, take the
- 28:51step of Faith, Like let God, do whatever he's going to do, you
- 28:54have no, you have no rights on what he does with it.
- 28:57You just have to be obedient. Or maybe that's not you, and
- 29:02maybe you're the girl that's going to be invited and say yes
- 29:06to the invitation. Like maybe somebody else is
- 29:08being obedient by inviting you to something.
- 29:11Be open to bringing your presence into the space because
- 29:14you have a lot to offer. And so Say Yes to God, that
- 29:19would be my take away, whatever he's asking you to do, whether
- 29:21it's to invite or whether it's to say, yes, I would say, Say
- 29:24Yes to God because when we say yes to God and we give him our,
- 29:28yes, whatever it is, whatever the Capacity, whatever the
- 29:30assignment we don't go wrong, we don't lose its work and it's
- 29:35uncomfortable and it grows us and it stretches us, but we
- 29:38don't lose and so it will be the best.
- 29:40Yes, you say so good. We don't waste anything with God
- 29:44doing. I love about and he multiplies
- 29:47it so much more than we can dream think, or imagine?
- 29:50Yeah, it does. Yeah, you just never know what
- 29:52that yes is going to take you. Well thanks Natalia for coming
- 29:57on here and sharing with us your wisdom.
