- 0:05Tad Eggleston: I don't know
- 0:09Tad Eggleston: You got nothing.
- 0:11Tad Eggleston: I got nothing. I got nothing, Phil. I am out of words.
- 0:15Tad Eggleston: Out of words, so I think I'm gonna go… become, a DJ instead.
- 0:22Tad Eggleston: Anybody got two turntables and a microphone?
- 0:27Phil: And here, I thought I was.
- 0:29Tad Eggleston: Some.
- 0:29Phil: evil host of 22 panels, but the DJ turn…
- 0:33Tad Eggleston: Some, some bottles and cans.
- 0:36Tad Eggleston: Some bottles and cans.
- 0:38Phil: This new career path of yours has made that challenge much greater. Hello.
- 0:44Tad Eggleston: Just just clap your hands.
- 0:47Phil: Since Tad is taking on new musical talents, that means we are playing Die.
- 0:54Tad Eggleston: No, no, no, I, I'm, I'm, I'm not taking on new musical talents. I'm I'm just… I'm sampling.
- 1:03Phil: Okay.
- 1:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, wait, sampling? So this might be one of a few different career changes?
- 1:10Phil: Well, so, oh, okay, okay, well, I mean, I might be old, but simply means something.
- 1:15Peter Eggleston Connor: team different.
- 1:16Phil: as a DJ.
- 1:19Phil: That. That being said, what? Hold on. We're definitely playing die today, though. It's been a while, so we are shaking off the dust. Oh, yeah. Well, I was going to say that's because you're. You're technically the bard of the group, so that's why this always brings out your musical side, you know?
- 1:35Tad Eggleston: That's right.
- 1:36Phil: That is for sure. It has been a while. That life has been difficult. This has been a difficult year. You know,
- 1:46Phil: Yeah, that's where I'm going to leave that.
- 1:50Phil: So it has been a while. Last we saw the group, they were in a vampire tavern of sorts. We are down with just the brothers, Edelston and me, as,
- 2:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Adults.
- 2:03Tad Eggleston: Eggleston? Eg.
- 2:05Phil: I can't talk today either. You know, I'm going to try to get that.
- 2:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Are you having a stroke again?
- 2:10Phil: No! Not again. No, not again.
- 2:13Peter Eggleston Connor: You better hire yourself.
- 2:15Phil: No, I am indoors. I am air conditioned. If I get heat stroke, then something has gone horribly, horribly wrong.
- 2:22Phil: You know, just, just a touch of the delirium, that's all, that's all we need to, to keep around. This is also a week that, Die Reloaded is back on shelves, which I am chomping at the bit to be able to go to that comic book store.
- 2:37Phil: Okay.
- 2:38Tad Eggleston: Good.
- 2:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Load.
- 2:39Phil: Dive into this dilemma.
- 2:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, that's right.
- 2:41Phil: I'm talking.
- 2:42Peter Eggleston Connor: That a while ago, that'.
- 2:43Phil: Sequel series!
- 2:45Peter Eggleston Connor: equals here.
- 2:46Phil: If you haven't read it, it's really good because it picks up on, you know, characters, side characters from that were only mentioned in the first book.
- 2:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Are they, is it, is it a full set or is it?
- 3:01Phil: Yeah.
- 3:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Sorry. Or do I take a pick it up issue by issue?
- 3:05Phil: So, Volume 1 came out semi-recently, like, within the past couple of months. That's the first 6 issues, and now Issue 7 just came out. So, if you wanted to stay month-to-month, then it'd be in that point, but there is also a Volume 1 jumping on point.
- 3:20Peter Eggleston Connor: So I'd probably just get the volume one and then wait for the next volume.
- 3:23Phil: Pretty much, pretty much, which will.
- 3:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Or I could wait until, like, all the volumes are done.
- 3:28Phil: You could, you could. But I mean, like, you know, they're.
- 3:31Phil: that's it'll be interesting to see how long this one runs. I noticed something interesting in the back. So the backs of all the the original run had a d 20 on the back, and it ran to 20 issues. The backs of loaded have a d 12. So I'm wondering if
- 3:47Phil: It will only run to 12 issues or not, and then maybe…
- 3:50Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay, now it.
- 3:51Phil: 10, who knows?
- 3:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Godfinder?
- 3:54Phil: Kind of. Yeah. So the the lead character, instead of it being Ash, it's Ash's wife, who is a God binder.
- 4:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Gotcha.
- 4:03Phil: Yeah, but I also noticed that if you add up the totals of, you know, the six dice, you end up with 60.
- 4:10Phil: So that would be potentially 3 volumes of 20 issues or so each.
- 4:17Phil: Who knows? Who knows? I'm excited. I clearly don't think about this book enough, that's for sure.
- 4:23Phil: Given the…
- 4:24Peter Eggleston Connor: It's like something I need to go dive into at some point.
- 4:26Phil: Yeah, I mean, it's, I mean, I'm mostly excited with the prospect of, you know, oh, even if it only runs six more issues now, then there's still a good, you know, 30 more eventually. So, you know, fingers crossed.
- 4:42Phil: back to the game. So we… we were in a vampire tavern where we met, Vankville, my… my Hank Hill impression, serving blood pain and blood pain accessories.
- 4:52Phil: But we should probably…
- 4:54Phil: do the ritual to get into the game, even though we're down a few people. So first up, there is the D8, which would belong to Jonathan, but he's spending more time with his kids. We'll let you know what his character's doing in the meantime, once we get into the game.
- 5:10Phil: Then there is the D12, which was wielded by Garion, but then after he died, as, as, the corpse used to summon.
- 5:23Phil: the s'mores, the Marshmallow Phoenix, way back in our, our, you know, the climax of our first adventure,
- 5:31Peter Eggleston Connor: Campfire Phoenix!
- 5:33Phil: Campfire Phoenix, indeed. Tosi's still out there somewhere, so it'll be interesting when you guys run into him again.
- 5:41Phil: Then there's the D4, which is wielded by Strife, Garion's sister who had died in a previous game but is now back, causing trouble to our gang.
- 5:59Phil: The D10s, which is normally wielded by Lee, aka Willie, William Defoe.
- 6:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Percentile.
- 6:09Phil: the D10 percentile. That is him. And then there's our regular D10 that finally is wielded by…
- 6:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, that's fielded by Lex or —.
- 6:19Phil: Yep.
- 6:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Me, Peter.
- 6:22Peter Eggleston Connor: As well. You were…
- 6:24Phil: A little qu.
- 6:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Coming on to my… oh, am I a little qu.
- 6:26Phil: You were a touch quiet.
- 6:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I'm so sorry, I,
- 6:30Phil: Bring the thunder.
- 6:31Peter Eggleston Connor: Headset. Thunder. Thunder. Thundercast. Anyhow.
- 6:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, so, I am playing Alex Romansky, or Lex, our…
- 6:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Our original NEO focuses on hacking and what have you.
- 6:53Phil: Yep.
- 6:55Peter Eggleston Connor: So…
- 6:55Phil: I mostly remembered that you had illusioning skills.
- 7:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, sorry to start into the illusion.
- 7:03Phil: Oh, and then you have, the Sleep Sword? Is that it? Was it Sleep, or was it…
- 7:09Peter Eggleston Connor: I have a light field projector with reactive combat invisibility, and then an energy weapon,
- 7:18Peter Eggleston Connor: With hearing and narrow sleep, yeah.
- 7:20Phil: Okay. Oh, searing inner. Okay. So burning in sleep. Interesting. Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotch.
- 7:25Peter Eggleston Connor: I can either, you know, burn things or put them to sleep.
- 7:29Phil: There we go. There we go.
- 7:30Peter Eggleston Connor: When I have the, when I have the fair goal for it.
- 7:33Phil: oh, that's right. Well, oh, you've got your also ability of, you get one per day, right? Like per session.
- 7:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Yep, yep. One per…
- 7:46Phil: Oh.
- 7:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 7:47Phil: Yeah, that's like.
- 7:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, and the full AI, which I didn't mention.
- 7:51Peter Eggleston Connor: At the moment.
- 7:52Phil: Right, right, that thing. Okay, yeah, which,
- 7:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Tammy, don't forget Tam.
- 7:57Phil: I, you know, I had until just this moment, so thank you for.
- 8:01Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm glad I reminded you about Tiny, and it has information about database on this world of die.
- 8:06Phil: Yep, yep, yep. Came right on back. Okay, there we go. That's…
- 8:12Phil: That's the Neo. And then next up, there is just — A Neo. A Neo, right. Our Neo, our only Neo for now. A Neo of our own. I don't know.
- 8:24Phil: But next up we just have a regular old d. 6, and that one is wielded by the stalwart and intrepid.
- 8:34Tad Eggleston: Oh, dude.
- 8:38Tad Eggleston: Oh, wait, no, I'm not a… I'm not a… well, I am a dude. I think I'm a dude. I'm…
- 8:44Tad Eggleston: White dude.
- 8:45Phil: Like, indeed.
- 8:46Tad Eggleston: I mean… I'm a guy.
- 8:50Tad Eggleston: Some people call me Alan. Some people call me Louie.
- 8:55Tad Eggleston: But mostly, I'm just reckless.
- 9:00Phil: That he is our our fool Alan Spectrum.
- 9:03Peter Eggleston Connor: Inspector.
- 9:05Phil: Indeed. I, I'm…
- 9:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, Inspector, but it's Spectrum, yeah.
- 9:10Phil: Specter to spectrum. Yep. And that's.
- 9:13Tad Eggleston: Well, it was always spectrum for me, but you didn't actually, you listened rather than reading.
- 9:20Phil: Something like that.
- 9:22Phil: It was one of those.
- 9:24Peter Eggleston Connor: factor.
- 9:25Phil: We'd have to… well, we'd have to… we'd have to go back to the tape to really… to really, figure out which one was said first, but that's okay. What's it? Now that you've said you are a dude, I… I really need to… to…
- 9:40Phil: get someone in contact, not this episode, but a later episode, to say, I got a beverage here, man. You know, next time there are beverages served. So that's… that's a goal. That's on… that's on the goal list here.
- 9:52Phil: And finally, we have the D20, which is mine.
- 9:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Not anymore. I'm taking it over. No.
- 9:59Phil: What?
- 10:02Phil: grabbing it through the screen. It's like the ring.
- 10:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Whoa.
- 10:05Phil: Out of the webc.
- 10:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh.
- 10:07Phil: Yeah. Which reminds me of a hilarious tweet, I don't remember who originally said it, but someone said, you know, if the ring happened today, it wouldn't be so bad, because we'd all be watching it on our phones, so when she crawled out, she'd be really tiny and easy to deal with.
- 10:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, obviously, if not, I learned that tiny doesn't necessarily mean.
- 10:32Phil: Have you seen Army of Darkness recently?
- 10:36Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean… I remember our view of darkness but.
- 10:40Phil: I, I mostly know that one scene where, where the tiny version of himself like crawls into his mouth and then he drinks boiling hot water to, to kill him in his own stomach or something like that. So.
- 10:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, that sounds like it would be,
- 10:54Peter Eggleston Connor: Not fun to try and deal with.
- 10:56Phil: No.
- 10:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Yup.
- 10:57Phil: No.
- 10:58Phil: But with that, let us, hold our dice aloft in the air, close our eyes.
- 11:05Phil: and countdown 3.
- 11:08Phil: 2, 1, slowly lower into a surface.
- 11:12Phil: Let go. Open your eyes. We are in Die. We're in an old, musty tavern known as the Last Drip, where the only patrons are hungover vampires. A table of emotion nights that have, you know.
- 11:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, right.
- 11:29Peter Eggleston Connor: If the vampires are hungover, does that mean they're, like, running out of blood to drink?
- 11:34Phil: No, that's where they, so that's not hungover, that's just, like, regular hungry. This is where, like.
- 11:44Phil: They have drank.
- 11:46Phil: too much blood, the night before, and yeah, so I guess that's… that's a side effect of the synthetic blood, is that it gives them hangovers, and then they have to drink more to cure themselves of the hangovers, so, like.
- 11:58Peter Eggleston Connor: So synthetic blood for them is essentially just alcohol, and they're now all alcoholics.
- 12:05Phil: Yeah, and if they…
- 12:06Peter Eggleston Connor: It was very dark.
- 12:07Phil: A little bit.
- 12:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Pretty dark, Phil. It'.
- 12:10Phil: I mean, this is a dark fantasy world. Remember, we did say we did say no to regular fantasy. It has to be a dark fantasy. You know, when we were talking about.
- 12:19Peter Eggleston Connor: No, it took about, oh.
- 12:21Phil: It was you. That was you in our very first session where we asked, what is the tone? Do we want regular fantasy? You said, no, only dark fantasy.
- 12:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Mmm.
- 12:29Phil: So, you know…
- 12:31Peter Eggleston Connor: A long time ago.
- 12:32Phil: It was. If anything, you're the one who cursed these vampires to alcoholism. So thanks for that.
- 12:42Phil: I…
- 12:43Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, am I really the one who cursed the vampirism, or did Phil just take what I gave him and ran with it?
- 12:50Phil: Sounds good.
- 12:51Peter Eggleston Connor: It's like a combo punch there.
- 12:53Phil: It really is. It really is.
- 12:56Phil: But yeah, the point being that while these vampires are grumpy and irritable, they are not hostile. So, you know, we're, we're, it's a nice chill day whenever we're down party members.
- 13:07Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, Hank is also like.
- 13:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Kind of drunk.
- 13:13Phil: Well, yeah, I mean, if you've ever, I mean, he's drinking the, the inspiration is, is drinking Alamos all day.
- 13:19Peter Eggleston Connor: That's right, that'.
- 13:20Phil: So… so he's drinking… he is, if you will, getting… getting high on his own supply, but, like.
- 13:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Mike is pretty much always drunk in the TV show. We just, you know.
- 13:30Phil: It'.
- 13:30Peter Eggleston Connor: Shit.
- 13:31Phil: Yeah, he's just really good at handling it. His one beer per hour, you know, drinking rate, I guess.
- 13:38Phil: Okay.
- 13:39Peter Eggleston Connor: going on.
- 13:40Phil: Yep.
- 13:40Peter Eggleston Connor: He's, like, doing so well. Seems kind of weird to me. Any.
- 13:43Phil: Yeah, in hindsight, you know, maybe there was some messed up stuff about that.
- 13:47Peter Eggleston Connor: I do kind of want to watch the the.
- 13:49Phil: You want to.
- 13:50Peter Eggleston Connor: Pretty serious, yeah.
- 13:51Phil: I heard it's interesting. You know, it's definitely… My wife and I, we went and we watched a whole lot of King of the Hill not that long ago. And I will say that some episodes aged better than others.
- 14:04Phil: You know, it's not, it's, I mean, it's, there's, there's better and there's worse examples of poorly aged sitcoms, that's for sure. You know, but.
- 14:13Peter Eggleston Connor: There's better and worse examples of poorly aged everything. Just go watch. Actually, never mind. That wasn't even like poorly aged. I was going to say, go watch a minority report.
- 14:24Phil: I never remembered. I…
- 14:25Peter Eggleston Connor: I remember watching Minority Report and I was like, this is like garbage when I watched it. Sorry. If you don't feel the same way, that's okay.
- 14:37Phil: I was deeply obsessed with Minority Report when it came out. It haunted me. And now we're, you know, edging slowly closer and closer to the pre-crime future, you know. Speaking of other Philip K. Dick movies that have aged superbly, have you ever seen A Scanner Darkly?
- 14:54Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 14:55Phil: It's really good. It's a really good movie.
- 14:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, okay, yeah.
- 14:59Phil: Yeah, yeah, that's, that's, that's all.
- 15:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Except when we watched it in a movie club, everybody trashed it. But, you know, whatever.
- 15:06Tad Eggleston: I didn't trash it.
- 15:08Phil: Okay.
- 15:09Phil: That's good, we got.
- 15:10Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, maybe, maybe everybody not…
- 15:14Phil: He's.
- 15:14Peter Eggleston Connor: It'.
- 15:15Phil: It's got Iron Man. It's got Iron Man and it's got Carnage.
- 15:19Tad Eggleston: I was the one that trashed Minority Report hardest, though.
- 15:24Phil: That'.
- 15:25Peter Eggleston Connor: -Oh.
- 15:25Phil: I mean, I'.
- 15:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Very fair.
- 15:27Phil: I…
- 15:28Tad Eggleston: I gave it zero stars.
- 15:31Phil: Interesting.
- 15:33Phil: Please…
- 15:33Tad Eggleston: 0 stars. I I'll go on record again.
- 15:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Fair.
- 15:37Tad Eggleston: I mean, I.
- 15:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Zero stars, it's a zero out of 10, since don't we rate on time impact?
- 15:41Tad Eggleston: Right, right.
- 15:43Phil: I mean, 0 out of 10… 0 out of 10 is worse than 0 out of.
- 15:47Tad Eggleston: I mean, I'll say what I think.
- 15:49Peter Eggleston Connor: 0 0 fell.
- 15:50Tad Eggleston: Essentially, essentially all I had to say about it was like I didn't see it when it came out because.
- 15:57Tad Eggleston: the premise itself made me go, well, if this isn't a dystopian, fucked-up future, then they don't understand. And none of the ads made me think it was gonna be that, so…
- 16:09Tad Eggleston: So I never bothered to see it, and now having seen it, I'm like, okay, not only do they not understand, but they… they suddenly got upset about, like, kids being held hostage for their…
- 16:22Tad Eggleston: their telepathic skills, but, like, they don't have a problem with the idea that they're arresting and imprisoning for extended periods of time. People who haven't actually done anything?
- 16:33Phil: Yep.
- 16:34Tad Eggleston: Sure.
- 16:35Phil: Yep, I mean.
- 16:35Tad Eggleston: I mean, before you even get into, like, holes and plots in the movie and whatnot, the premise itself is just…
- 16:45Tad Eggleston: So.
- 16:46Tad Eggleston: fucked up and faulty that's like yeah like there's no way to make this better.
- 16:50Phil: And here's the thing.
- 16:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, I mean, like…
- 16:53Phil: I'm.
- 16:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah.
- 16:54Phil: No, you're fine. I was just gonna say, from what I remember, I definitely… I think the only time I've seen it was when it came… when I saw it in theaters, when it came out, so I was like…
- 17:03Phil: some like 11 or 12, you know. It. It definitely made sense to me then, you know, which is saying a lot. And that that thing goes on to say that. Am I shocked that a Tom Cruise adaptation of a Philip K. Dick story is losing a hell of a lot of subtext. Yes.
- 17:23Tad Eggleston: A Spielberg adaptation.
- 17:25Phil: Okay, a Spielberg, a Spielberg starring Cruise adaptation of Philip K. Dick story has
- 17:32Phil: Lost all of its subtext on the floor.
- 17:34Tad Eggleston: I mean, what I'll say is like.
- 17:36Tad Eggleston: It's similar to the presence of Civil War II, and one of the problems.
- 17:40Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 17:41Tad Eggleston: with Civil War II in the Marvel comics was, like, I had trouble believing that any of the heroes.
- 17:50Phil: -H.
- 17:51Tad Eggleston: Would side with the idea that we were going to heavily rely on precognition.
- 17:57Phil: Right.
- 18:00Phil: Yeah, I mean, I feel like my problem with Civil War II was that…
- 18:04Tad Eggleston: But at least that was a civil war over it.
- 18:08Phil: Right.
- 18:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, what I was gonna say is, like, I felt like they didn't…
- 18:14Peter Eggleston Connor: the they set themselves in a dystopian future, and then didn't actually set the dystopian future.
- 18:20Phil: The dystopia was heavily implied in Minority Report. It was not really.
- 18:24Tad Eggleston: Really?
- 18:25Phil: Well.
- 18:25Tad Eggleston: No!
- 18:26Phil: That's what I mean, is that.
- 18:28Tad Eggleston: They implied that it was a utopia!
- 18:30Phil: Well, that's okay. So.
- 18:31Peter Eggleston Connor: Right. Real quick, real quick. Well, that's no, no, no, no, because that's a weird thing, because if you're watching the movie, it is a split between it's heavily implied that's a utopia based on all the imagery and everything you see. And then it's a highly implied that it's a dystopia by everything that they're doing and all the background contacts, like the fact that there are so many crimes happening, so many murders that even this program.
- 18:55Peter Eggleston Connor: Could be.
- 18:55Phil: Is this.
- 18:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Considered.
- 18:57Phil: The existence of the I-man and the foul sandwich.
- 19:00Phil: is… is dystopian. This is where… so one thing that modern society gets wrong, and unfortunately this battle was lost in the…
- 19:11Phil: Aughts of the 2000 with all of the the rise of wasteland films that were plagued as dystopias, future dystopias in ancient Greek.
- 19:21Phil: the word utopia and utopia were spelled the same, and utopia is good place and no place, and utopia is no place and bad place. So
- 19:32Phil: the semantic loss is that anything that is a utopia is also an utopia, you know? This non-existent, perfect, good place is also a non-existent, imperfect, bad place, you know? Think about the giver,
- 19:47Phil: think about Brave New World, you know, and even my Noria report, the fact that, hey, this is a quote-unquote perfect society where crime doesn't happen because we stop it before it does.
- 19:57Phil: That is actually awful, and like you said, we're imprisoning people who literally did not commit crimes. So it is full-on, like, yeah, no, even if this place looks perfect to some people, it's horrendous service.
- 20:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Don't really sell it very well.
- 20:14Phil: they don't they they leave the subtext completely completely unacknowledged they just don't even look at it they're like instead of a world where cops are arresting people who didn't commit crimes we're going to arrest the one guy who actually did commit a crime and that's going to make our society okay right that's going to fix everything we're just going to we're not going to do this anymore we're going to go back to only solving crimes instead of solving future crimes like that's that's the part that gets ridiculous is thinking about my
- 20:38Phil: January report after it ended, you know.
- 20:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, sure. Yeah.
- 20:43Phil: Yeah, and so this is where we now pull back, and, like, that little argument was happening between, a vampire, a non-transformed werewolf, but you can tell he's a werewolf because of how much facial hair he has, and a goblin.
- 20:59Phil: And…
- 21:00Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, that's actually a misnomer. He's actually not a werewolf.
- 21:05Phil: Oh.
- 21:05Peter Eggleston Connor: He's a werewolf because of how much facial hair he has.
- 21:08Phil: Interesting.
- 21:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Turns out to be just a normal human.
- 21:12Peter Eggleston Connor: With very werewolf-like,
- 21:15Phil: After… after this conversation, the man wanders home, and while on his way home, he gets bitten by a were-mouse. So now on a full moon, he transforms into a mouse, despite his, heavy amount of facial hair. Actually, a rat. He's gonna be a were-rat.
- 21:29Peter Eggleston Connor: No, he's bitten by a werefrog.
- 21:32Phil: Aware frog! Perfect! Yes.
- 21:34Peter Eggleston Connor: And whenever he turns into a frog, it's just the most blissful thing ever, so…
- 21:39Phil: Yeah.
- 21:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Now just wait for the.
- 21:41Phil: Who doesn't want to be a frog?
- 21:43Peter Eggleston Connor: of his life is just pale in comparison. And unfortunately, this is very depressing.
- 21:48Phil: This is, this is, he's entering his, his peak era of frogdom. Yeah, no, this guy.
- 21:55Peter Eggleston Connor: You totally haven't gotten sidetracked.
- 21:56Phil: Oh, no.
- 21:57Phil: Well, that's why at least it's all in the tavern. We're keeping it in the tavern.
- 22:02Phil: To get us back on topic, Tad, you had mentioned Civil War.
- 22:07Phil: Which is fitting because we are about to go on the quest for the war god or whatever happened to the war god, you know, supposedly the war god died as the pantheon that you were all on crashed into the side of a new planet as.
- 22:26Phil: They were inhabited, inhabiting the body of strife, and were
- 22:31Phil: killed by… oh, that's right, that's where, when Jonathan was possessed by the Eldritch God, he plunged his whole arm through her, and it was, like, coated in cinnamon red-hot, goopiness. So, okay,
- 22:46Phil: So that's what we're ostensibly about to do, is to go find whatever happened to the God of War.
- 22:54Phil: Despite Lee, aka Willie, seemingly being,
- 22:59Peter Eggleston Connor: It sounds like, it's always on your title. Whatever happened to the God of War?
- 23:03Phil: Yeah, it does. It does. That's pretty good. I'm going to write that down.
- 23:10Phil: Mmh.
- 23:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Ted, this is our It's Always Sunny episode.
- 23:14Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 23:21Phil: I mean, I think that…
- 23:22Phil: I don't know how much Always Sunny you've seen, but Alan seems like a default Charlie Jimmy?
- 23:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Seems like it.
- 23:28Phil: Yeah, I.
- 23:29Tad Eggleston: I haven't watched Shetty in a while, but there was a time.
- 23:33Phil: Which also means that, so, so, listeners, before we got on, I, I reminded, Peter and Tad of, last time while we were talking, I made a quip about, oh, Wally Wood never drew Spider-Man, and Tad went on the deepest of internet dives and found
- 23:51Phil: a Wally Wood drawn Spiderman comic.
- 23:55Phil: called The Amazing Spider Guy, where after he does mundane things, he comes home, he takes off his costume, and he's just a man-sized spider underneath it all. That creature crawled from the ceiling, and he is now hanging out with the group. He was sitting at the bar. His name is Watzk.
- 24:11Phil: And he is the rickety cricket of our group. So he is now hopping and jumping excitedly, and he goes, "Wasn't no werewolf.
- 24:25Peter Eggleston Connor: full-size human being, or is he a full-size fighter? Yeah.
- 24:29Phil: He's a full-size human.
- 24:31Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm just trying to imagine him jumping and I'm trying to, like, figure out, like, is this, like, you know, like, really big and ecstatic, or is this something small trying to get our attention?
- 24:41Phil: Oh, no, this is an overexcited. Actually, if you've seen Dorohedoro, the mind controlled bug that shouts shocking, he's like that guy's size.
- 24:54Phil: And probably looks a fair amount like it. If you haven't, you should see Dorohedoro. It's really good. I've been meaning to read the manga of it, but the anime is fucking awesome.
- 25:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I put out my, to-do list.
- 25:05Phil: It is. It's one of those shows that, like, is completely ridiculous and goes off on tangents all the time and, like, starts following random characters and you enjoy them more than ostensibly the main characters. And also, like, in any given episode, you're going to be like, I have no idea what's going on. That's okay.
- 25:24Phil: you will start to have some idea of what's going on, and that will be even weirder than what you thought was going on in the 1st place. It's really cool.
- 25:32Phil: But yes, but WASG is now,
- 25:35Phil: trying to to to attract the group's attention and saying he can lead you to. You know the corpse of war, so to speak.
- 25:47Phil: Willie would have objected to this, as, this guy doesn't seem the most disputable. But unfortunately, after he took a drink of the blood paint, the synthetic blood, and then he rolled and he realized he liked it, he had a taste for blood.
- 26:04Phil: He began getting plagued by visions of cannibalism, from that one time that, everybody was cannibals.
- 26:13Phil: Before time got rewound just a little bit, and it, like, created a whole alternate universe full of cannibal members of the party, cannibal fallen members of the party. So he's dealing with that. His… Willie is now realizing, or receiving visions that this whole group
- 26:31Phil: We're camels before meeting him, and he's he's just quietly following along.
- 26:38Phil: Meanwhile…
- 26:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Willie's villain arc where he becomes cannibal.
- 26:44Phil: maybe well he's gonna he's gonna have to be the the one to decide if whether he gives into the Campbell urges or tries to you know I don't know.
- 26:53Peter Eggleston Connor: I was out.
- 26:53Phil: Figure out what.
- 26:54Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll have to wait for Willie to come back.
- 26:58Phil: Indeed, indeed. Meanwhile.
- 27:02Phil: what is his name? Oh, Amon, Amon, our truth. Knight had been taken aside by the group of emotion knights in the corner, who are whispering, whispering and pointing at the group, and quietly leave altogether without
- 27:21Phil: any word of, of goodbye. They just slip out. And he is, he's gone, he's off on other adventures. Jonathan is not gone, but he will, he will return at a, triumphant and climactic time, I'm sure, to whatever we're doing and going on. That'll, that'll be an interesting.
- 27:39Peter Eggleston Connor: But we've essentially got a drunk Willie that we gotta.
- 27:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes.
- 27:44Phil: He's more or less drunk. He is like stumbling along, following, but he's nonverbal. You know, he's like that drunk guy.
- 27:54Peter Eggleston Connor: That's kind of funny. If this was like the real world and your friend was drunk, you'd be like, okay, we need to go find someplace safe to lay down alone.
- 28:02Phil: This person…
- 28:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Because this is a game and because the reason that he is actually, yeah, because the reason that he's actually nonverbal and probably not going to be much help to us this game.
- 28:16Peter Eggleston Connor: is because… He's not the the person playing him isn't here.
- 28:22Phil: So it's it's kind of like it's a cross between being drunk and I've never seen it, but the movie Click, like the fast forward autopilot of that, it's kind of it's kind of.
- 28:33Phil: Kinda in between those two.
- 28:34Peter Eggleston Connor: I like that one alright.
- 28:36Peter Eggleston Connor: From what I remember, I watched it in the theater, so…
- 28:38Tad Eggleston: Not a bad movie at all.
- 28:40Phil: Yeah, which is humorous, though, because I only remember that there was this dopey kid that I worked with who said it was his favorite movie, either his favorite movie or like, I think he said it was the best movie he'd ever seen. And despite having not seen it, I was like, there's no way Click is the best movie you've ever seen. Come on. That's like, you've seen nothing.
- 28:58Phil: You're a child, you know. But I guess now maybe. I don't know. I'm not. I don't know if I'm willing to rip off that Band-Aid. I don'.
- 29:06Peter Eggleston Connor: I I don't know if it's like the best movie, but it's a pretty solid movie.
- 29:11Phil: It's it's not even the best Adam Sandler movie. I wouldn't.
- 29:15Tad Eggleston: I totally agree with that.
- 29:17Phil: Yeah, I.
- 29:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I wasn't gonna try to.
- 29:19Tad Eggleston: But it's.
- 29:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 29:20Phil: Beautiful
- 29:21Phil: It's interesting, it's one of those movies that I feel like I have completely understood conceptually, just hearing about it without needing to see it, you know?
- 29:31Peter Eggleston Connor: That's also fair. I mean, like, it's essentially, like, what happens when you completely… Blur out all the…
- 29:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Minor points of your life just to focus on, like, the major points.
- 29:44Phil: Mmhm. Mmh.
- 29:46Peter Eggleston Connor: And a life lesson in, you know, being present.
- 29:51Phil: Thankfully, we don't have to do that in this game, as we don't need to live the granular minute-by-minute travel.
- 29:57Peter Eggleston Connor: What are you talking about?
- 30:00Peter Eggleston Connor: There's Lord of the Ring. Never mind.
- 30:03Phil: Even the Lord of the Rings needed to take precedence.
- 30:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, yeah, lower rigs even, you know, skipping parts. I mean, again.
- 30:12Peter Eggleston Connor: Stories for you.
- 30:14Phil: I'm imagining the two subsets of Tolkien fans, some not in agreement. Of course he skipped over parts. And then there are some that are freaking out, like, how could he skip over parts? Everything was from him, so there's no parts to skip that are not Tolkien. You know, just having that little conniption out there.
- 30:31Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, that… if…
- 30:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I mean, I guess that's you kind of token fans, but like you're talking about two different types of people too. Yeah, like very much like, you know, what's written is literally what's there like.
- 30:46Phil: Right, right.
- 30:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Would you skip what's not there? And then.
- 30:49Phil: Yeah, I.
- 30:50Peter Eggleston Connor: The other side of it, which is, well, if this was a real life, then there would be more parts that we just wouldn't know about, so.
- 30:58Phil: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 31:00Phil: And yet, I mean, you know.
- 31:02Phil: The things about Tolkien that seem the most pertinent are those little bits of real life amidst the epic fantasy. So, you know, it comes back around.
- 31:14Phil: It really…
- 31:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Started talking today. There'll be no role playing. No, keep going, keep going. Excuse me.
- 31:20Phil: I did… I did one voice. That's a roleplay, if there ever was one.
- 31:25Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, oh, we succeeded!
- 31:26Phil: We met the lowest bar possible. That's it, guys. No, I'm kidding.
- 31:34Phil: Alright. Bye.
- 31:35Peter Eggleston Connor: I keep pulling us off subject.
- 31:37Phil: How dare you? Have you, have you, have you been on the show before?
- 31:42Peter Eggleston Connor: No? Never?
- 31:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Right, Tad? This is my.
- 31:47Tad Eggleston: Nope.
- 31:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Stop there.
- 31:49Tad Eggleston: I've never been on this show.
- 31:50Phil: Oh.
- 31:52Phil: What show is this? This is… this is Dai. So… In this world, since…
- 31:59Peter Eggleston Connor: DYA. We're going to talk about all the c.
- 32:04Phil: Talk about a very, a very special kind of nightmare of needing… is, I mean, there has to be a podcast just about color out there, and color theory, but how obnoxious must it be to constantly talk about something visual without a visual reference for the listener?
- 32:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh!
- 32:21Phil: Just.
- 32:21Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh!
- 32:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, hell!
- 32:25Phil: No, I mean, it's tough. It's hard. I'm thinking about if you have to describe a color the whole time, at least with like a comic, people will know, hey, I've read that comic, I can look at it, I can reference it. But if it's literally like we're talking about this color, if you don't have that specific color in front of you.
- 32:42Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know. I think it's pretty pretty pretty similar to what.
- 32:47Phil: No, it's completely different, believe me.
- 32:49Peter Eggleston Connor: It's completely different!
- 32:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure it is. Sure it is. It is. Having talked about Heavy Metal Magazine so much, it dived into it like…
- 33:01Peter Eggleston Connor: In the Heavy Metal Book Club. It is always weird when we're talking about something. I'm like, you know, it's so visual. Like somebody's gonna have to go look this up. But like talking about a color is the same way. You go look up the color. I mean.
- 33:16Phil: Damn.
- 33:16Peter Eggleston Connor: We have this thing called the internet.
- 33:19Phil: No, we don'.
- 33:19Tad Eggleston: This is assuming, assuming.
- 33:24Tad Eggleston: You have the word for the color.
- 33:26Tad Eggleston: Because if you don't have the word for the color, your brain might not process it.
- 33:31Phil: That's actually a great point. Oh, you would need either that specific word for the color or like a hex code, you know?
- 33:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Also, also true.
- 33:39Phil: Yeah, but like, yeah, if you just say today we're talking about blue, people could be thinking about completely different shades of blue from you just saying we're talking about blue. Even if I say navy blue, you could think of a slightly different.
- 33:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:53Phil: You're talking about heavy metal number 27 from like 1983. That year is inaccurate. Please don't quote me on that.
- 34:01Phil: You at least have that point of reference to be able to go, hey, I'm going to look at that up. Like, honestly, you know, having listened to episodes of 22 Panels, having not read the book, it is a very different experience from listening to 22 Panels having read the book.
- 34:14Peter Eggleston Connor: It would be a very different conversation on air if you were going to talk about balloon.
- 34:23Phil: And yeah.
- 34:24Tad Eggleston: Well, also, also, there would be some aboriginal tribes and and.
- 34:28Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 34:30Tad Eggleston: And whatnot, that they still don't have a word for blue, so they'd see green.
- 34:34Phil: Yep.
- 34:36Phil: You got upstairs again. I feel like that's not even the first time that that's been brought up.
- 34:42Phil: in…
- 34:42Tad Eggleston: Oh, I know.
- 34:44Phil: No, that'.
- 34:44Tad Eggleston: I know it's not the first time it's been brought on Buffalo 22 panels. It's one of my.
- 34:50Tad Eggleston: One of my favorite.
- 34:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Thank you.
- 34:54Tad Eggleston: favorite little factoids.
- 34:55Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 34:57Tad Eggleston: If you don't have the language, then your brain will… Adapt.
- 35:04Phil: Mmhm.
- 35:08Peter Eggleston Connor: So we got, sorry. This is.
- 35:14Phil: Was.
- 35:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Maybe.
- 35:15Phil: Zwask. I don't know.
- 35:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I'.
- 35:18Phil: I worked on that. I worked on that voice just like.
- 35:21Phil: For months, months to come.
- 35:23Peter Eggleston Connor: That's why, that's why we have now this session.
- 35:26Phil: That's why he only… that's why he only says, like, one thing at a time. I was… I.
- 35:31Peter Eggleston Connor: So, the what?
- 35:34Phil: was.
- 35:35Peter Eggleston Connor: You, you know where there's,
- 35:38Phil: Yes.
- 35:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Because…
- 35:39Phil: meat take. This is where I was reminding, listeners, and, and you all, of our three cardinal directions, since any given side of a D20 only has three sides,
- 35:54Phil: It's not quite a magnetic field because obviously there is no tripole magnetism.
- 36:02Phil: But whatever field is creating an atmosphere around this dye-shaped planet leads people to feel only three senses of direction instead of
- 36:15Phil: Magnetic 4.
- 36:17Phil: So right now, he leads you all, right out, across the, murky swamps of,
- 36:26Phil: This undead vampire world back out into the marsh.
- 36:31Phil: Unfortunately, where you're going, only the party is able to follow through the brush and swamplands. It's too tight of a path for the boat, the chocolate boat to follow. That is the Forge God.
- 36:49Phil: And so you cross over into,
- 36:53Phil: A dense forest that is full of a combination of organic metals and synthetic plants and something dying and dead that is a smell.
- 37:12Phil: overlaying everything. And this is, unfortunately, a,
- 37:19Phil: You know, Woz is leading you carefully around brush.
- 37:24Phil: And passed these, flying zombie, mushrooms.
- 37:30Phil: So the mushrooms, if you'll imagine them here, they're like floating mushrooms that are kind of shaped like brains on the cap. And then instead of a stem, they just have jaws and teeth and are these like undead floating mushrooms.
- 37:49Phil: flying zombie mushrooms flying zombie mushroom brains you're making a face, Peter.
- 37:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I was just thinking about how, like, the, is it the Fallen, where, like, the big…
- 38:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Add me and die.
- 38:04Phil: Mmhm.
- 38:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Sorry, it's been a.
- 38:06Phil: You know.
- 38:07Peter Eggleston Connor: like versions of the following? Probably not. Yeah.
- 38:10Phil: I mean, well, so that's, that is a good question of to what extent does, do the fallen heed to the undead and is, I mean, from having read the book.
- 38:23Phil: I don't think there's a version of the fallen that isn't undead. So, yeah, this could… this… I mean…
- 38:32Phil: Yeah, this could be an inhuman fallen of some sort, like a mushroom fallen. That'd be…
- 38:38Phil: bizarre. Definitely a weird one. There's… there's certainly a version of this journey, if I were a more granular DM, where,
- 38:48Phil: I'd have you need to, to find and fight packs of fallen every, every side here to, to, you know, take more days. But that's okay. I, I don't, I don't feel like rolling that much and.
- 39:02Phil: Putting forth that much effort to. To create hunting mini games at this point.
- 39:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Good. I was just thinking about it. Yeah.
- 39:10Phil: Okay.
- 39:11Phil: And the wildest thing about this mushroom is that it is actually, while it is a terrifying predator in its own right, it is also the prey of.
- 39:28Phil: what is known as the hunter, which is just a singular entity that makes clicks like predator.
- 39:35Phil: seems to have a long, glowing sword for one arm, and has the face that is in between a cat and a bird of some sort, as it wears, like, a long cloak out of Bloodborne.
- 39:49Phil: If we come back to this, to this,
- 39:53Phil: The sector, then, you know, that will be…
- 39:57Phil: the entity you must… you must interface with to… to attune to this side. But WASC has a manner of, knowing when it is slightly distracted, and has, greater prey to catch, and so you're able to part ways,
- 40:13Phil: With that thing, and move on down-ish.
- 40:18Phil: Towards a, burning… I called it the burning wastes because it is
- 40:29Phil: Sort of like a vast desert area that is full… well, not full, so it's a desert…
- 40:36Phil: landscape populated with no. So there's no full like town, like kind of how we were just at a town of vampires. There are several ghost towns where no one is there.
- 40:52Phil: But instead, Woz carefully navigates you between, you know, buildings in these ghost towns and tells you about how everyone here is a memory thief.
- 41:07Phil: So long ago, there were…
- 41:10Phil: some noble bandits who lived in this side until the master had come to town and stolen everyone's memories. And now they can't remember whether they were, you know, these these bandits of hope that were fighting for a community or the memory thieves. And so now everyone is just trying to steal each other's memories to piece back.
- 41:30Phil: what was left of these towns.
- 41:33Phil: Oh.
- 41:34Phil: Any guides you across those,
- 41:37Phil: those ghost villages weaving, you know, so that you don't have to fight any of these people. But, this is where Tenny… Tenny then pings to you that, hey, you have a memory merchant, so this would be an interesting place to… to come back to one day as well, to… to sort of create more of those avenues.
- 41:54Peter Eggleston Connor: That thought that came through to me.
- 41:56Phil: Nice. And then we had Rydish again on to… A landscape that is…
- 42:07Phil: it's quite a verdant canyon, so it's in, like, a hot, arid landscape, but it's not fully desert. There's still some, trees and grass,
- 42:16Phil: And so…
- 42:18Phil: you… you come across, from… if you come from the bottom of this part of the triangle, there is, like, a mountain ahead of you, where…
- 42:32Phil: you know, atop this, or, you know, a low mountain. You know, it's like a smoky mountain mountain, not like a rocky mountain mountain.
- 42:40Phil: And atop this mountain is the corpse of a giant that has fallen, you know, back first is splayed out so that its head and one of its arms are traipsing like down the landscape ahead of you. So, so on.
- 42:59Phil: This die, it is, you know, if you look at one of the vertices, it's like.
- 43:05Phil: its back is pierced on it, and so it's laying across multiple sides. And
- 43:13Phil: Coming up to scavenge it are two different, groups.
- 43:20Phil: Of the,
- 43:24Phil: On one side, there's the Burning Crusade, which are a group of knights who, you know, are various Templars. They have fire embellishes and holds.
- 43:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Promotion night.
- 43:39Phil: Not emotion nights, these are non-emotional nights.
- 43:43Phil: And then, you know, so they're on one side, you know, ready to. They're starting to scavenge this giant's corpse. And then from the other side comes the Knights of Onomatopoeia, who are actually not knights at all, but they are thespians. So it's like.
- 44:01Phil: A troop of, oh.
- 44:05Phil: performers and plays, and they're coming up on… from… from the other side of this landscape to, you know, scavenge the corpse of this giant, and Wazg just points at both of them, and he says, make war. Wazg. Wazg. Make war.
- 44:22Phil: Meaning that if you want to summon the God of War, you get these two factions to fight each other, and the God of War shall.
- 44:32Phil: Up here.
- 44:33Phil: And with that, you know, it's a bit of a short session, but this is where it's all going to go down. If anyone has read the Al Ewing space epic, "We Only Find Them When They're Dead," that was definitely an inspiration for this little moment of…
- 44:53Phil: A giant that has fallen.
- 44:56Phil: To the land where people are now gonna fight over its corpse.
- 44:59Peter Eggleston Connor: pierced by the ever so sharp, edge of the D. 20.
- 45:06Phil: Yep, yep.
- 45:07Phil: Indeed. Indeed.
- 45:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Still the D20, it's.
- 45:10Phil: You did what? Wait, no, hold on. How green is yours? Mine is pretty green, so.
- 45:14Peter Eggleston Connor: green at all.
- 45:15Phil: Oh, it's gray? Oh, that's weird. Oh, it's.
- 45:18Tad Eggleston: Mine is green. It's it's a it's an onion detour.
- 45:22Peter Eggleston Connor: Mine is…
- 45:22Phil: What?
- 45:23Peter Eggleston Connor: She say.
- 45:24Phil: Oh, they say.
- 45:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh wait, there's another guy in here. There we go.
- 45:28Phil: There you go.
- 45:30Tad Eggleston: An onion, I mean, InfoWars.
- 45:32Peter Eggleston Connor: So Jenny, Jenny D.
- 45:34Phil: Oh, I was thinking for a second. I was like, did James Tynan do a Tiny Onion dice or something?
- 45:43Tad Eggleston: Oh no, the onion.
- 45:45Phil: Z Onion.
- 45:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Dice.
- 45:46Phil: Interesting. And InfoWars, right? The Onion now now producing InfoWars.
- 45:51Tad Eggleston: Ehhh…
- 45:53Phil: You know.
- 45:53Tad Eggleston: They're…
- 45:54Tad Eggleston: That they were the first, and the mainstream media, the lamestream media won't tell you about it, but they were the first to report on Alex Jones blowing up in his car.
- 46:06Phil: What?
- 46:07Tad Eggleston: Yep, yep, and there's a, There's an imposter Alex Jones now.
- 46:13Phil: Oh, okay.
- 46:14Peter Eggleston Connor: I see.
- 46:15Phil: I see.
- 46:16Phil: I wasn't.
- 46:16Tad Eggleston: Got all the information.
- 46:19Phil: I'll have to look that up.
- 46:20Tad Eggleston: They've got the video, they've got the, yeah, check it out. Infowars on YouTube.
- 46:27Phil: So that's… okay.
- 46:29Phil: That's why nobody's heard from Alex Jones in a.
- 46:32Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, no, we've heard, we've heard from somebody claiming to be Alex Jones.
- 46:37Phil: Naturally, naturally.
- 46:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 46:40Tad Eggleston: Also, also you can, you can get the O2 supplement.
- 46:44Phil: Ha!
- 46:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh my god,
- 46:49Phil: Is that just oxygen?
- 46:51Peter Eggleston Connor: No.
- 46:51Tad Eggleston: In pill form. In pill form.
- 46:53Peter Eggleston Connor: off.
- 46:53Phil: Okay.
- 46:55Peter Eggleston Connor: It's… it's solidized oxygen.
- 46:58Phil: Wow, that's got to be kept at pretty cold temperatures, doesn't it?
- 47:02Tad Eggleston: Well, it will keep your brain going for an hour.
- 47:06Peter Eggleston Connor: That's the,
- 47:07Tad Eggleston: Energy, and…
- 47:08Peter Eggleston Connor: That's the.
- 47:09Tad Eggleston: All of the time saved.
- 47:10Peter Eggleston Connor: See ya.
- 47:11Tad Eggleston: Breathe for an hour.
- 47:12Phil: Okay, yeah.
- 47:14Phil: Sounds like some real,
- 47:15Peter Eggleston Connor: That's a miracle of it. It doesn't have to be kept at cold temperatures. It's some sort of weird compound.
- 47:21Phil: An advancement in science, you say?
- 47:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes.
- 47:24Tad Eggleston: Oh, it's in a cap.
- 47:25Phil: Okay.
- 47:29Phil: It's fascinating.
- 47:30Peter Eggleston Connor: It's solid oxygen in our ca.
- 47:33Tad Eggleston: I didn't say it was solid.
- 47:35Peter Eggleston Connor: I said it was solid oxygen.
- 47:37Tad Eggleston: Wow.
- 47:39Peter Eggleston Connor: You missed.
- 47:40Phil: There we go.
- 47:41Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, I… I don't know.
- 47:45Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I'm not sure how much of it, how much oxygen content there actually is in it, but you know.
- 47:50Phil: Oh man, that's good.
- 47:54Tad Eggleston: Enough to increase your IQ.
- 47:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, we'll say that, sure.
- 48:01Tad Eggleston: I mean, I'm just… it's a former sheriff and writer of mystery novels that…
- 48:07Phil: All right.
- 48:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Right.
- 48:10Phil: This is, not to interrupt you two, I just wanted to give you both a star, say thank you for turning up, getting this crazy game back on its wheels. I certainly had a lot of laughs and a good time. Hopefully shaking off the dust will get us to roll some dice next time. We can have a confrontation of sorts.
- 48:28Peter Eggleston Connor: We need some more roles, like options to do things, Phil.
- 48:34Phil: Rolls? Oh, oh, okay, I see. I see, okay.
- 48:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Not rolls like you have to roll dice, rolls like…
- 48:42Phil: Like, I'm gonna…
- 48:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 48:44Phil: Assigning tasks, like, alright, this is…
- 48:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Or, like, opening things up for us to, you know, interact.
- 48:51Tad Eggleston: Now, I remember that I have my guitar. Do I still.
- 48:54Peter Eggleston Connor: Endgame! Endgame!
- 48:56Phil: Yeah, yeah,
- 48:59Phil: You do, you do still have your guitar.
- 49:02Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 49:02Phil: Yeah.
- 49:03Tad Eggleston: And no shoes.
- 49:05Phil: Okay, yeah, I think that.
- 49:07Peter Eggleston Connor: But no.
- 49:07Phil: Okay.
- 49:10Tad Eggleston: Oh, that's right, I have the Carlisle sword. I don't have my skateboard anymore, but I have the Carlisle sword.
- 49:16Phil: Yep.
- 49:17Phil: That is for sure.
- 49:20Phil: I will actually say that one of the Knights of the Burning Crusade has your skateboard.
- 49:27Tad Eggleston: I want my skateboard back.
- 49:29Phil: So you're gonna have to, you're gonna have to fight some nights.
- 49:33Tad Eggleston: If they've got my skateboard… You know how single, single, single…
- 49:41Tad Eggleston: Minded I can be when when I decide to be.
- 49:45Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 49:46Tad Eggleston: Or, or, or when the, when the.
- 49:49Tad Eggleston: Terror of the of the.
- 49:53Tad Eggleston: hyperfixation takes over.
- 49:56Peter Eggleston Connor: All right, so Thespians versus some crazy fire dudes.
- 50:01Phil: Yes, versus actual crusading Templars, yes. So it's the, 'cause back in medieval times, like that's the thing I found interesting is that a lot of medieval literature was like yearning for a time of nights when that was supposedly the time of nights. So like even while nights were real and around, we were all nights.
- 50:18Tad Eggleston: So, so…
- 50:19Phil: piss them.
- 50:19Tad Eggleston: So hold on, hold on a second though, because I can't waste my my.
- 50:25Phil: Oh!
- 50:25Tad Eggleston: one per session opportunity to get…
- 50:28Phil: Of course.
- 50:29Tad Eggleston: want.
- 50:29Phil: I… I can't… I can't refuse you either.
- 50:32Tad Eggleston: I want… Like, I've got my guitar. I now know where to go get my skateboard.
- 50:40Tad Eggleston: But I need to be the one… the one man… Samurai skateboard musician machine.
- 50:49Tad Eggleston: So… I want… Like… You know how Tony Stark's Iron Man costume can, like.
- 51:01Tad Eggleston: Condensed down into, like,
- 51:06Tad Eggleston: Like, credit card…
- 51:08Phil: Oh, okay.
- 51:09Tad Eggleston: case, whatever.
- 51:10Tad Eggleston: I want… a floating DJ kit. Two turntables, microphone, full-on mix table, etc.
- 51:23Tad Eggleston: that I can carry in my pocket. But again, floating, so no matter where I'm at, like, I don't have to find a surface or anything like that, like, I can just set it up.
- 51:34Tad Eggleston: And it'll move with me, so if I want to skateboard and DJ at the same time, that's an option.
- 51:41Phil: So this is… okay, so… What you have is a legally distinct pokeball. So it's a pocket ball.
- 51:51Phil: that…
- 51:51Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 51:51Phil: When you release it, it releases a sentient organic
- 51:57Phil: DJ machine, so it is similar to… it's like one of those flying, zombie mushrooms, but it's been defanged, and, various holes in the tops of it, so it now makes strange noises as it flies around with you.
- 52:12Peter Eggleston Connor: It's a def.
- 52:13Tad Eggleston: Can I spit, can I spit vinyl.
- 52:15Phil: The… You can… you can spin…
- 52:20Phil: These, acrylic discs on its front to change the tones of the various holes that come out back.
- 52:27Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 52:28Phil: But, but… The sounds range from accordion to bagpipe to fart.
- 52:35Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 52:39Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go.
- 52:40Tad Eggleston: This works.
- 52:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Sounds like I'm gonna hate this thing.
- 52:47Phil: Well, thankfully, thankfully, in this storytelling podcast, we do not have an audio sample of this creature, at least as of yet. So.
- 52:57Peter Eggleston Connor: You'd think.
- 52:58Phil: Here's a side project for you.
- 53:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not touching it. Nope No, you don't. You don't. Tad.
- 53:07Phil: I do. If you want a accordion bagpipe fart soundboard, there we go.
- 53:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh.
- 53:14Phil: Thankfully, thankfully, this is where this is where I come begging and pleading back.
- 53:20Peter Eggleston Connor: And here's the dark fantasy coming back to life. Anyhow, go ahead.
- 53:25Phil: Yeah, right. Go ahead.
- 53:26Peter Eggleston Connor: Please pick up, pick up the hyper fixation.
- 53:30Phil: Of comics, the hyperfixation of comics. The comics world needs you. I hear that. I hear that you've gotten your first back cover blurb. You know, you can't stop at just one.
- 53:39Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, I don't think it's funded yet. So everybody needs to go order nerd emergencies.
- 53:46Phil: Nerd emergencies?
- 53:47Tad Eggleston: So I can have my first back cover blurb.
- 53:49Phil: It sounds like an.
- 53:50Tad Eggleston: Absolutely.
- 53:51Phil: Fantastic info.
- 53:51Tad Eggleston: It is.
- 53:52Phil: And it's amazing. Neurodivergent.
- 53:54Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I mean, it's all because, like, stupid, stupid fucking autocorrect will take neurodiversity and turn it into nerd emergencies.
- 54:04Phil: Oh, that's where the title… I mean, that's actually a pretty funny reason to come up with that as a title.
- 54:10Tad Eggleston: It's also kind of appropriate because those of us who are neurodivergent often have nerd emergencies.
- 54:16Phil: I also…
- 54:17Tad Eggleston: We have to figure out how to deal with them.
- 54:20Tad Eggleston: So yeah, people should totally go back that, so I can have my first blurb.
- 54:26Phil: Hell.
- 54:26Tad Eggleston: And I guess I'm, I'm talking about.
- 54:29Tad Eggleston: Absolute Martian Manhunter later this week with some cool people, and… and… I've got… I've got…
- 54:40Phil: I mean, we can't let Tyler down, we've got an.
- 54:43Peter Eggleston Connor: You're like a spider suit.
- 54:46Tad Eggleston: I've I've got, I.
- 54:47Phil: Thankfully you just grabbed the 22 panels penny. One, it looks like a spider suit, but the webs are blue and gold. They're actually the color of the internet dress that people can't decide what color it is.
- 55:01Tad Eggleston: I do… I do, yeah, okay.
- 55:07Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 55:09Tad Eggleston: No, I got too many good interviews this week.
- 55:12Tad Eggleston: I'll stick around I'll stick around.
- 55:15Phil: Oh.
- 55:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, you know you.
- 55:17Tad Eggleston: But if anybody wants me to hire me to DJ their block party and they'll provide equipment, I am available for only six or seven figures.
- 55:29Tad Eggleston: And those can be either zeros on a check.
- 55:33Tad Eggleston: Or… or vintage Star Wars toys. I don't care which kind of figures.
- 55:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh my god,
- 55:43Phil: Until checks have leading zeros.
- 55:44Peter Eggleston Connor: and their figures.
- 55:45Phil: This has been 22 panels no more.
- 55:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Are you gonna take it out, Tad?
- 55:51Tad Eggleston: I know this is this is now 22 panels and we'll see you.
- 55:56Tad Eggleston: After the next page.
- 55:59Peter Eggleston Connor: Bye!
- 56:00Phil: Okay.
