- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show
- 0:13Speaker 1: for Eagles and the Bears. It's Adam Kaplan and Greg
- 0:17Speaker 1: co Sell. Greg, good to see you.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Adam. That's got a big game coming up. I know,
- 0:23Speaker 2: I know, Eagles Bears. Eagles coming off a loss. Haven't
- 0:26Speaker 2: said that very often this year.
- 0:28Speaker 1: No, and the Bears have one four straight, eight out
- 0:31Speaker 1: of nine. Not what I was expected from the Chicago
- 0:33Speaker 1: Bears because you don't know about a rookie head coach
- 0:35Speaker 1: Ben Johnson talking to people work with him. You know,
- 0:38Speaker 1: he coaches his players hard and coaches his coaches hard.
- 0:41Speaker 1: But they're doing a great job. So let's get right
- 0:43Speaker 1: to it. Greg. Overall, just a general thought on the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Bears tape this season offensive defense, Just just what how
- 0:49Speaker 1: they look to you on tape.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, obviously everybody's probably more interested in the offense.
- 0:54Speaker 2: With Keeleg Williams, he had a learner system, a system
- 0:57Speaker 2: that is not easy to learn, that has a lot
- 0:59Speaker 2: of elements to it.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:02Speaker 2: It's funny because one of the things that Caleb Williams
- 1:04Speaker 2: really struggled with as a rookie, and this often is
- 1:07Speaker 2: the case with quarterbacks that come from college obviously, that's
- 1:10Speaker 2: where they come from, is they're not used to huddling
- 1:13Speaker 2: at them, and people don't think about that element of
- 1:16Speaker 2: quarterback play, what we often call the operational part of
- 1:19Speaker 2: playing quarterback, where they have to get the play from
- 1:21Speaker 2: the sideline, get in the huddle, speak it with conviction,
- 1:25Speaker 2: speak it not too fast, but not too slow. Then
- 1:28Speaker 2: get up to the line with a good amount of
- 1:30Speaker 2: time left on the play clock, because in a Ben
- 1:32Speaker 2: Johnson offense, often there's two or three potential plays within
- 1:37Speaker 2: that play call. Then there's motions, there's shifts, there's the
- 1:40Speaker 2: quarterback having the ability to see what the defense looks like.
- 1:44Speaker 2: So the operational part of the position is something that
- 1:47Speaker 2: Caleb Williams really struggled with a year ago, and even
- 1:51Speaker 2: the early part of this season you could tell that
- 1:53Speaker 2: he was still working through that, and now it's clearly
- 1:55Speaker 2: much much better. So once he I don't want to
- 1:58Speaker 2: say he has it down because he's told the first
- 2:00Speaker 2: year in the system, but now that he's gotten better
- 2:02Speaker 2: at it, you can see that the offense is starting
- 2:05Speaker 2: to take shape the way of Ben Johnson offense looks,
- 2:08Speaker 2: which is a lot of those intermediate digs in breaking routes.
- 2:13Speaker 2: You know, it's it's it's it's a really good pass game,
- 2:15Speaker 2: a really good pass game.
- 2:17Speaker 1: And the big thing is, and you talk about the
- 2:19Speaker 1: transition from year one to year two, it's the cool
- 2:22Speaker 1: thing for him is he's understanding about timing. And Ben
- 2:26Speaker 1: Johnson helps him because he took a number of sacks
- 2:27Speaker 1: last season. But think about it, Drew Domennu, Joe Joe
- 2:31Speaker 1: Toney new came over with the Chiefs trade Jonah Jackson news. Well,
- 2:35Speaker 1: that helps. I mean, they address their issues on the interior,
- 2:37Speaker 1: the offensive line and now defensively, and we're gonna go
- 2:41Speaker 1: in definitely offense this defensively, Dennis Allen, he goes to
- 2:44Speaker 1: face them before what are your thoughts of the defense overall?
- 2:48Speaker 2: But just for one very very quick point about what
- 2:50Speaker 2: you said, and I'm glad you said it. Caleb Williams
- 2:53Speaker 2: has not been sacked a ton this year at all.
- 2:55Speaker 2: He's only been sacked seventeen times. And that I always
- 2:59Speaker 2: believe that's on the quarterback more than the offensive line.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I know, I've heard Tom Brady talk about that they're
- 3:03Speaker 2: doing games that he thinks sacks are ninety nine percent
- 3:07Speaker 2: on the quarterback and that's something that everybody was concerned
- 3:10Speaker 2: about when he came out of USC and obviously last
- 3:13Speaker 2: year he was the most sacked quarterback in the league.
- 3:15Speaker 2: So to me, of all if people want to look
- 3:18Speaker 2: at stats at him, to me, that is the most
- 3:21Speaker 2: impressive stat when you look at Caleb Williams, the fact
- 3:23Speaker 2: that he's only been sacked seventeen times. So anyway, just
- 3:26Speaker 2: to get to the defense, they've had a lot of injuries,
- 3:29Speaker 2: as you know, now, Dennis Allen, Yeah, Dennis Allen. Everybody
- 3:33Speaker 2: knows what he does. He's very difficult at times because
- 3:37Speaker 2: of not only the pressure concepts, but sort of how
- 3:40Speaker 2: he gets to specific zone concepts where he takes people
- 3:44Speaker 2: that are on the first level and brings them back
- 3:46Speaker 2: to the second and third level. You know, he does
- 3:48Speaker 2: a lot of things that can make it difficult for
- 3:50Speaker 2: a quarterback to immediately see. And you know in this
- 3:53Speaker 2: league that if it takes half a beat that can
- 3:55Speaker 2: be too long. So he's really good at that. But
- 3:59Speaker 2: you know, you mentioned the injury. I mean, they ended
- 4:00Speaker 2: up playing last week at linebacker Jackson and I'd love
- 4:07Speaker 2: to be able to pronounce his name correctly, but I
- 4:09Speaker 2: can't go it. Agbon Veniga, I guess it is. You
- 4:14Speaker 2: got him?
- 4:14Speaker 1: And then yes, good, yeah, and I actually got out.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, they they ended up. You know,
- 4:22Speaker 2: it's funny because I remember doing him coming out of
- 4:24Speaker 2: college and I thought he was a really good prospect.
- 4:26Speaker 2: But so you know, and they've been injured because Kyler
- 4:29Speaker 2: Gordon has you know, not being able to play in
- 4:31Speaker 2: the slot. So even on the outside, I mean last
- 4:34Speaker 2: week they started Nashaun Writs actually played pretty well. I
- 4:38Speaker 2: did him as well coming out of college too. I
- 4:40Speaker 2: could look at my notes see know if you want.
- 4:42Speaker 2: But Stevenson started last week, he got hurt, and then
- 4:45Speaker 2: they had to bring in McLeod a guy who's been
- 4:47Speaker 2: with the Giants, he's been around the league. He's really
- 4:49Speaker 2: not a guy you want to play on the outside.
- 4:51Speaker 2: But they've been able to sort of, you know, bandage
- 4:55Speaker 2: this up and not have a bad defense by any
- 4:57Speaker 2: stretch of the imagination.
- 4:59Speaker 1: It's not been a bad dec defense, No, not at all.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And speaking of that, let's get started. We're going to
- 5:03Speaker 1: break this one down. Eagles o versus Chicagoty. We're gonna
- 5:06Speaker 1: do an old school style. So Dennis Allen and his
- 5:10Speaker 1: defense number one in the National Football League with twenty
- 5:14Speaker 1: four turnovers recorded, sixteen picks, eight fumble covers. There also
- 5:18Speaker 1: plus sixteen overall. You mentioned it, Caleb Williams not turning
- 5:21Speaker 1: it over. They only have eight turnovers overall. Yes, so
- 5:25Speaker 1: let's talk about it. Dennis Allen's d what's it look
- 5:27Speaker 1: like schematically? What could Eagles expect to look at in
- 5:30Speaker 1: this game?
- 5:33Speaker 2: Well, you know what, I'd like to address it a
- 5:35Speaker 2: little differently if I could.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Sure anyway you want to me?
- 5:39Speaker 2: To me what this game is about. It is about
- 5:43Speaker 2: the Eagles and as more so than the Bears. Now,
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm not saying that they're not studying the Bears defense.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't want to make it seem like the Bears
- 5:51Speaker 2: defense is irrelevant. But to me, where the Eagles stand
- 5:54Speaker 2: right now offensively is they've got to figure out in
- 5:59Speaker 2: the what they do well and what they can do
- 6:03Speaker 2: against any defense. Okay, Now, look, Dennis Allen, he likes
- 6:06Speaker 2: to play man. Okay, Dennis Allen has always played a
- 6:09Speaker 2: lot of two man coverage on third down, which is
- 6:12Speaker 2: he might not do that this week because of the
- 6:15Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts potential scrambling factor. But he's been a big
- 6:19Speaker 2: proponent of playing kind of two man or one robber.
- 6:22Speaker 2: It's almost very difficult to tell the difference at times. Now,
- 6:26Speaker 2: the Eagles normally don't throw the ball a lot in
- 6:28Speaker 2: the middle of the field, so that may not be
- 6:31Speaker 2: something you see a lot of this week. That's very possible.
- 6:34Speaker 2: But I think the Eagles, and granted it, it's a
- 6:39Speaker 2: short week, so there's not a lot of practice time
- 6:42Speaker 2: on the field, but you don't need the practice time
- 6:44Speaker 2: on the field at this point of the season. I
- 6:47Speaker 2: think the Eagles, and I say this totally honestly, I
- 6:49Speaker 2: think they need almost to go back to the drawing
- 6:52Speaker 2: board and figure out in their mind what it is
- 6:54Speaker 2: they do well both in the run game and the
- 6:57Speaker 2: pass game. And they need to do that. And again
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm not suggesting that means they'll be successful, but as
- 7:04Speaker 2: you know, every team has staples, every team has things
- 7:07Speaker 2: they believe that they can do well against any defense.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I mean, I've had these conversations with coaches. You've probably
- 7:13Speaker 2: had them as well, where they say, hey, this is
- 7:17Speaker 2: you know, when we get stuck, we're gonna run these
- 7:20Speaker 2: concepts and these plays. And to me, the Eagles right now, look,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the run game has been really a problem this year.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I mean, when you look at Barbore and I'm with you,
- 7:32Speaker 2: it's poor. And we can sit here and say why,
- 7:35Speaker 2: and we know why. The old line has not been
- 7:37Speaker 2: good at all, and it's easy to say that's the reason.
- 7:40Speaker 2: But they still have games to play. So it's not like,
- 7:42Speaker 2: you know, we're looking ahead to him next year and saying, see,
- 7:45Speaker 2: they have to address the old line. They have a
- 7:47Speaker 2: game to play and they're still, you know, in a
- 7:50Speaker 2: situation where they can have home playoff games, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 2: so you know they've got to find out. Now, go
- 7:57Speaker 2: back and say, okay, here's what we do. Because the
- 7:59Speaker 2: Bears have, you know, a good front, but not an
- 8:02Speaker 2: on front that you can't beat with the run game.
- 8:05Speaker 2: It's solid, but and obviously the linebacker situation, they're playing
- 8:09Speaker 2: with backups, so you know, they've got to be able
- 8:12Speaker 2: to decide, hey, here's what we're going to do. And
- 8:16Speaker 2: now it's just a matter of what formation or personnel
- 8:18Speaker 2: package you do it out of. But let's do what
- 8:21Speaker 2: we think we do really well, and let's come out
- 8:25Speaker 2: and do it well.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Here's the thing, now you say this, now we have
- 8:29Speaker 1: to mention that right now as you and I speak.
- 8:32Speaker 1: The wind looks like it could be like the Detroit game.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I know for cast can change. We hope it would.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But right, here's the problem. If it's winning and it's
- 8:40Speaker 1: tough to throw. We know both quarterbacks have strong arms.
- 8:42Speaker 1: People just don't have last year's run game. Now, they
- 8:44Speaker 1: threw the ball pretty well. As a matter of fact,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I wonder what have happened if they did interhoot themselves
- 8:49Speaker 1: to the foot with so many darn penalties in the
- 8:51Speaker 1: second half which crushed the drives.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, and also the turnovers which they normally do not do.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Sure, sure, but the bottom line is you said, as
- 8:58Speaker 1: you set it up, okay, what do they do well?
- 9:01Speaker 1: They don't run it well. They have no identity. You'd
- 9:04Speaker 1: love to know by who you are as a football team,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and they just don't know what they are r at
- 9:07Speaker 1: this point.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Often. Well, the reason they don't have an identity is
- 9:10Speaker 2: because they're not doing what their identity as well. Right,
- 9:12Speaker 2: I mean, they do have an identity. They were running
- 9:16Speaker 2: football team.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Tribe, but they don't do it very well.
- 9:18Speaker 2: They're not doing it well, so that you know it's
- 9:22Speaker 2: it's you know, I always make an analogy, not always
- 9:24Speaker 2: at times in baseball where you know, if you have
- 9:27Speaker 2: bad starting pitching and you're down six nothing, you know
- 9:30Speaker 2: in every game in the fourth thing, it looks like
- 9:31Speaker 2: you have a really bad team, you know. But the
- 9:35Speaker 2: Eagles do have an identity. They are running football team.
- 9:38Speaker 2: They just have not run well and they're not one
- 9:42Speaker 2: could argue, and I think it's a valid thing to
- 9:44Speaker 2: say that their past game is not at a strong
- 9:48Speaker 2: enough level and it wasn't even a year ago where
- 9:50Speaker 2: that can be the foundation of their offense. So they
- 9:54Speaker 2: don't run it well, they kind of get stuck.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So looking at the Bears defense, right, you got both
- 10:00Speaker 1: Ger who's the kid who was on hard Knocks a
- 10:01Speaker 1: couple of years ago, who's out of Kansas, I believe.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Uh yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Manta sweat and he goes no very well.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Andrew Billings has been around a long time. And Dexter.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Uh so, yeah, they're they're fine. They're a fine front,
- 10:20Speaker 1: but they're nothing like you're you're worried about. And and
- 10:22Speaker 1: then a linebacker the Marco Jackson who had to start
- 10:25Speaker 1: he was claiming off waivers from the Saints hippolid who
- 10:27Speaker 1: had to start fourth rounder, and we'll get in him
- 10:29Speaker 1: a second. He's got a shoulder injury not looking good
- 10:31Speaker 1: for him. So they could literally be down their top
- 10:33Speaker 1: four linebackers this week, Jeff, I mean, correct.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Well, that's why I mentioned that they're going to probably
- 10:37Speaker 2: end up playing Jackson and Amiga, I mean, and that's
- 10:40Speaker 2: that's who their linebackers are going to be. Now. The
- 10:43Speaker 2: the position that's played really really well for them has
- 10:46Speaker 2: been safety with Brisker and Bayer that that's played really
- 10:49Speaker 2: and they played some big nickel last week with Gardner
- 10:52Speaker 2: Johnson being the third safety.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So it was three sacks by the way.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So I mean it's you know, my guess is
- 10:59Speaker 2: they'll do that, you know, because it just it makes
- 11:01Speaker 2: sense for them to do that because they don't have
- 11:03Speaker 2: a third linebacker. They don't really they don't really have
- 11:06Speaker 2: a They almost can't line up in a true four
- 11:09Speaker 2: to three because they may not have enough linebackers that
- 11:12Speaker 2: they feel good about.
- 11:13Speaker 1: You wonder if we I mean with a thiking a
- 11:15Speaker 1: five man front, but you just wonder what they would
- 11:18Speaker 1: be able to do. And again, well we're going to
- 11:21Speaker 1: see the conditions be able to pass. But the thing is,
- 11:24Speaker 1: though this could be a Dallas Goddard game in terms
- 11:26Speaker 1: of Okay, if these guys are down and they had
- 11:30Speaker 1: got it, hit took place called back last week, So
- 11:33Speaker 1: this could be a gotter game with all these linebackers
- 11:35Speaker 1: that we'll have to see what happens.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, So I mean, look, obviously you're preparing to play
- 11:40Speaker 2: the Bears. I understand that, and I didn't mean it
- 11:42Speaker 2: to sound like, hey, don't you know, don't do anything
- 11:45Speaker 2: to attack the Bears. But at some point, you know,
- 11:48Speaker 2: you work all season, all off season, through OTAs, through
- 11:51Speaker 2: mini camp, through training camp, and you have certain staples
- 11:55Speaker 2: that you feel very good about, foundations of your offense. Okay,
- 11:59Speaker 2: you know, like then Johnson, we'll get to this in
- 12:01Speaker 2: a sec Like Ben Johnson, we know that he's going
- 12:03Speaker 2: to run dig routes. He's going to do that against anybody.
- 12:05Speaker 2: It doesn't matter who they're playing. He's going to get
- 12:08Speaker 2: to dig routes somehow, some way. So, you know, the
- 12:12Speaker 2: Eagles coaching staff has to believe every coaching staff believes
- 12:16Speaker 2: this that here's what we do. Well, here's what we've
- 12:18Speaker 2: been practicing going back to March or April. You know
- 12:21Speaker 2: what we need to do. These things these are the
- 12:24Speaker 2: things that ideally the quarterback feels good about, the line
- 12:28Speaker 2: feels good about, the backs feel good about, and these
- 12:31Speaker 2: are things that we have to be able to do.
- 12:34Speaker 2: So the issue becomes how do you do them? Then
- 12:36Speaker 2: it comes down to personnel formations, you know, because concepts
- 12:40Speaker 2: are concepts. You know, you have to you get to
- 12:44Speaker 2: them differently. But I'm very curious to see how they
- 12:47Speaker 2: come out in this game because again you mentioned the weather.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Who knows you know whether that's truly a factor or not,
- 12:56Speaker 2: but you know, it's It's funny how every week we
- 13:01Speaker 2: talk about the pass game. Look, last week they actually
- 13:03Speaker 2: threw the ball a lot, and they had meaningful success
- 13:06Speaker 2: throwing it. They still couldn't run it all. Barkley was
- 13:09Speaker 2: ten for twenty two and the run game looks really bad.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher. And if you have a family

- 16:13Speaker 1: helping them a lot my lot out Huh, yeah, that's
- 16:16Speaker 1: thirty hard and he, by the way, he's not on
- 16:19Speaker 1: the injury poart. So clearly they're not happy with his
- 16:21Speaker 1: performance because why would they do that? Right in their past?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Pro was not good last week. Let's put it this way,
- 16:28Speaker 1: it was inconsistent. There were some obviously some good snaps, right,
- 16:31Speaker 1: some not so good snaps. But the run blocking Greg
- 16:33Speaker 1: is hard to believe. This is the stat You know,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I always doing some research kind of what what are the
- 16:38Speaker 1: numbers look like? Barkley's on pace for a one thousand
- 16:41Speaker 1: and fifty seven yards which is almost one thousand yards.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Crazy.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't believe that, but it's true. So and again,
- 16:51Speaker 1: you look at what the Eagles are trying to do.
- 16:52Speaker 1: They want to be a run first team. They want
- 16:54Speaker 1: to have that mentality. But when you can't do it,
- 16:56Speaker 1: you got to do something to either you run out
- 16:57Speaker 1: or your pass it. I'm with you, I'm very see
- 17:00Speaker 1: what there if the weather holds up. Not only at linebacker.
- 17:04Speaker 1: You mentioned Tyreek Stevenson. Now he's got an injury. Wright
- 17:09Speaker 1: Naseheon Wright has a minor hip injury. They don't seem
- 17:12Speaker 1: to be overly concerned about it, but they've got a
- 17:15Speaker 1: number of injuris in the second Now, Kylo Gordon's real
- 17:17Speaker 1: close by the way, and so is Jalen Johnson. I
- 17:21Speaker 1: want to mention that this is his third week back.
- 17:24Speaker 1: He's got a very good chance to play this game.
- 17:26Speaker 1: So that could help them. Oh yet, and they could
- 17:30Speaker 1: at times be stingy. I know against I know Flacco
- 17:33Speaker 1: got it done against them. I get that, But this
- 17:36Speaker 1: is that was then, this is now, and this is
- 17:39Speaker 1: a defense which is generally pretty good, and we'll see
- 17:42Speaker 1: what happens. Greg, But I'm like you, I'm fascinated to
- 17:45Speaker 1: see what their approaches in the game. That to me
- 17:47Speaker 1: is the number one story for the Eagles offense. What
- 17:49Speaker 1: is your approach going to be?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and don't forget the only game Barkley had a
- 17:53Speaker 2: big game. He had the sixty five year touchdown on
- 17:55Speaker 2: the second play of the game, and that changes did
- 17:58Speaker 2: the whole worldview of the game. But for the most part,
- 18:00Speaker 2: they've not been able to run the ball at all.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And they're a running team. I mean, that's the bottom line.
- 18:06Speaker 2: They're you know, they're not even with the talent that
- 18:09Speaker 2: they have at the receiver position with Smith Brown Goddard,
- 18:12Speaker 2: they're you know, like I said, we've had this conversation
- 18:15Speaker 2: so many times about last year that that Jalen Hurts
- 18:19Speaker 2: and the pass game threw for less than two hundred
- 18:21Speaker 2: yards and eight or nine games, even last year winning
- 18:25Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. They're not really a passing team, correct overall?
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yes, Oh, but I do want to ask you this
- 18:31Speaker 1: question before we reverse fields here, Tank Bigsby, I know
- 18:34Speaker 1: it's been limited time the fans cap baskets. Well, they're
- 18:37Speaker 1: going to give Hi more carries. Obviously he needs to
- 18:38Speaker 1: get the ball more. But Barkley's the guy. What does
- 18:41Speaker 1: tech bigs be if a limited time look like to
- 18:44Speaker 1: you on tape so far?
- 18:45Speaker 2: Well, I go back to when I did him coming
- 18:48Speaker 2: out of Auburn. I like Tanks bigs a lot. I
- 18:50Speaker 2: thought he was a feature back in the NFL, and
- 18:52Speaker 2: when he got an opportunity in Jacksonville, he showed that.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And again, I don't know what happened to Jacksonville. Can't
- 18:58Speaker 2: speak to that. But it's interesting that when he comes
- 19:00Speaker 2: in the game he gains yards. Now, I'm not sitting
- 19:03Speaker 2: here suggesting and it's not going to happen that he's
- 19:06Speaker 2: going to take plays away from It's not as if
- 19:08Speaker 2: Bigsby's going to be the feature back in this game
- 19:10Speaker 2: against the Bears. That's not going to happen. But it's
- 19:13Speaker 2: interesting that when he gets in the game, it seems
- 19:16Speaker 2: like he breaks, you know, a nine, ten, twelve thirteen
- 19:19Speaker 2: yarder and Barkley doesn't do any of that. So it's
- 19:23Speaker 2: no knock on Barkley. It's just one of those weird
- 19:26Speaker 2: fluky things that he you know, does that mean it's
- 19:30Speaker 2: blocked better for him? You know? Obviously it's it is
- 19:32Speaker 2: blocked better on that play or two that he's in
- 19:35Speaker 2: I mean even the game they had the big running
- 19:37Speaker 2: numbers two hundred and seventy some odd yards, you know, Bigsby,
- 19:41Speaker 2: and they won that game. Big Barkley obviously had big numbers,
- 19:43Speaker 2: but Bigsby also ran for over one hundred yards in
- 19:45Speaker 2: that game.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And Greg, the thing that I love his style is
- 19:48Speaker 1: so differ from Barkley. You know, he does try to
- 19:50Speaker 1: tend to bounce it outside, but his his wiggle and
- 19:54Speaker 1: his vision, it's he's such a good what we call
- 19:56Speaker 1: a change up to me, he should be getting until
- 19:59Speaker 1: bark and if he does, it all gets back to
- 20:02Speaker 1: somewhat normal. Why not give him eight to ten carries
- 20:05Speaker 1: a game? And that's just you're you're trying to do
- 20:07Speaker 1: what you do, what you thought you could do best
- 20:08Speaker 1: is run the football, try something else, and they need
- 20:12Speaker 1: to do that. That that that's something needs to happen.
- 20:14Speaker 2: And that's the other issue is, like I said, it
- 20:16Speaker 2: comes down to the use of personnel formations. You know,
- 20:19Speaker 2: you can you can still run your basic concepts out
- 20:22Speaker 2: of so many different looks, you know, And that's I
- 20:26Speaker 2: think that's probably where they are look for, hey for
- 20:29Speaker 2: we know they're going to try some gimmick plays and
- 20:31Speaker 2: that's fine, but that's not what you're going to live
- 20:34Speaker 2: over the next you know, six seven weeks on. So
- 20:37Speaker 2: you've got to get back to you know, and they're trying,
- 20:40Speaker 2: Believe me, they're trying. You know, they just have not
- 20:42Speaker 2: been able to run the ball.
- 20:43Speaker 1: All right, Let's flip the script of sal Palos to
- 20:46Speaker 1: say I love that by the way in the NFL
- 20:47Speaker 1: Matric show. Yeah, yeah, we me esp I love what
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know his phrases. I love that one. That's a
- 20:51Speaker 1: good one. All right, let's do it. So it's Caleb Williams.
- 20:55Speaker 1: You said this when we did inside the tape. He said, guys,
- 20:58Speaker 1: I want to give it away. I'll give you a
- 20:59Speaker 1: little bit, all right, Eagles Defense Caleb Williams, VIC Fangio.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Let's get into it. Let's let's start with Caleb Williams
- 21:06Speaker 1: and Ben j Onson. What are your thoughts and his tape?
- 21:08Speaker 1: So for yeah, I.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Think Williams has shown improvement as the year has progressed.
- 21:13Speaker 2: The biggest issue that he has is he still flashes
- 21:15Speaker 2: bouts of poor ball placement that must be cleaned up
- 21:19Speaker 2: and that it stands out a lot on intermediate throw
- 21:22Speaker 2: sort of the staple foundation of their pass game, and
- 21:24Speaker 2: that's one reason why his completion percentage is below sixty percent.
- 21:28Speaker 2: But he's getting much much better at playing with timing,
- 21:32Speaker 2: with rhythm, with structure, knowing where to go with the football.
- 21:36Speaker 2: This past week, he was not running out of the pocket.
- 21:39Speaker 2: He had the one really bad play when he obviously fumbled.
- 21:42Speaker 2: You know, it was just one of those reckless, stupid
- 21:44Speaker 2: on discipline plays. But he hasn't done as much of
- 21:48Speaker 2: that lately. Now, will he do that every once in
- 21:50Speaker 2: a while where he just plays fast in the pocket,
- 21:53Speaker 2: loses clarity and he moves with no sort of calculation
- 21:57Speaker 2: or purpose, Yeah, he'll do that every once in a while,
- 22:00Speaker 2: but he's been doing that less and less, so therefore
- 22:03Speaker 2: he's playing with more control and more calculation. And he
- 22:07Speaker 2: just has a ridiculous arm. I mean, he the ball
- 22:11Speaker 2: comes out about as well as a ball can come out,
- 22:14Speaker 2: and he throws the ball exceedingly well on the move.
- 22:18Speaker 2: So when he does move, you really have to stay
- 22:20Speaker 2: in your coverage, whether it's man or zone. You have
- 22:23Speaker 2: to understand you know what that means that I don't
- 22:26Speaker 2: know how that's taught in VIC system. You know how
- 22:29Speaker 2: if you're playing zone, what you do in the quarterback
- 22:31Speaker 2: leaves the pocket, but you you have to make sure
- 22:35Speaker 2: that that you have a plan for that because he
- 22:38Speaker 2: can really drive the ball down the field on the move.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Ben Jonson said earlier this week, one of the airs
- 22:43Speaker 1: he's improved is throwing over the middle because they they
- 22:46Speaker 1: actually the media, the media talked about it because they
- 22:49Speaker 1: noticed it. Obviously, if you're if you're covering the team,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you notice it. And it's not easy. It's we have
- 22:54Speaker 1: to remember what what he was kind of quarterback he
- 22:57Speaker 1: was at USC and then you had on offense last year.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Now I have another one in Ben Johnson. Look, Ben
- 23:02Speaker 1: Johnson is a guy that's he coaches hard and he
- 23:06Speaker 1: seemed to be beaming. Actually watch the press conference because
- 23:08Speaker 1: he he's starting to get what he's asked being asked
- 23:11Speaker 1: to do, which is a good.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Well Ben Johnson is even though the offensive scheme is
- 23:16Speaker 2: totally different. He's a lot like Kyle Shanahan in that
- 23:19Speaker 2: here's the system, you're going to execute it the way
- 23:22Speaker 2: it's meant to be executed. This is what we do
- 23:25Speaker 2: and if you do it right, it's going to work.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And you know, again, I don't know Kiala Williams at all.
- 23:32Speaker 2: So but it's clear to me just from watching the
- 23:35Speaker 2: tape that he's beginning to get a much better feel
- 23:37Speaker 2: and understanding of what that involves, you know, because ultimately, look,
- 23:43Speaker 2: Ben Johnson just came from Detroit and I'm not looking
- 23:45Speaker 2: to compare Goff and Williams, That's not my point at all.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But if you know, it's Jared Goff who can't move
- 23:51Speaker 2: at all like Williams. And by the way, Williams movement
- 23:53Speaker 2: is a factor. He can scramble as well. But God,
- 23:56Speaker 2: who's pretty much a pure pocket quarterback executed that cis
- 24:00Speaker 2: him at a really high level. So the goal with
- 24:03Speaker 2: Williams is you don't want to tell him never to move.
- 24:06Speaker 2: You never want to tell a quarterback that has that
- 24:07Speaker 2: kind of ability never to move. But the whole point
- 24:11Speaker 2: is to execute the system because this let the system
- 24:15Speaker 2: work for you. Trust the process, let the system work.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Don't chase things that aren't there. Let it work because
- 24:22Speaker 2: you know what it works and it has a strong
- 24:25Speaker 2: track record of working at a very high level.
- 24:28Speaker 1: You made me think of what Steve Young said, because
- 24:30Speaker 1: he was a wild child when they got him from
- 24:32Speaker 1: Canadavi the Niners, and he talked about he didn't trust
- 24:36Speaker 1: the system early on, and once he did. You know,
- 24:41Speaker 1: do you I have you said that video when I
- 24:42Speaker 1: think it was Steve Young through a blindfolded.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Just say, you know, I've had this conversation with Steve
- 24:47Speaker 2: Young because I know there you go right right right? Yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 2: you call me that that once once he understood the
- 24:51Speaker 2: system and how to make the throws, he says, I
- 24:54Speaker 2: could have made these throws blindfolded.
- 24:56Speaker 1: We actually did, I think in a practice. I think
- 24:57Speaker 1: they actually Yeah, it's incredible, by the way, but I
- 25:01Speaker 1: mean that's on the West coast.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's you know, that's ultimately the idea. You know,
- 25:06Speaker 2: that's that's why these guys work so hard to put
- 25:09Speaker 2: in their system and work it and work it and
- 25:11Speaker 2: work it and work it. And and this my sense
- 25:14Speaker 2: is that Caleb's starting to get it, you know. And
- 25:17Speaker 2: and I'm not surprised that it would take time. I mean,
- 25:20Speaker 2: this is brand new. He still won't know everything in
- 25:23Speaker 2: one year, you know. But obviously they're winning games, right,
- 25:26Speaker 2: you said they won eight of their last nine, right.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yes, they've won four in a row and eight other
- 25:30Speaker 1: last night, correct, Yeah, I.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Mean, I don't. I don't think that was on anybody's
- 25:34Speaker 2: being no card before the show them.
- 25:35Speaker 1: And the Patriots. But that's another story for another time.
- 25:38Speaker 2: So so I mean, and.
- 25:40Speaker 1: You look at the personnel, and here's what you know,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Ryan Paulzer GM has done a good job of helping
- 25:44Speaker 1: their offense in terms of personnel. Roman Doin, say the
- 25:47Speaker 1: first round pick, We'll get to him in a minute.
- 25:49Speaker 1: DJ Moore, that was a really good trade with Carolina.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Luther Burn I know you like him. We'll get to
- 25:52Speaker 1: him in a second. Lamine Sakias with the Eagles, No,
- 25:55Speaker 1: obviously right if they want to play twelve with Comet
- 25:58Speaker 1: and Lovelin, who's coming on. Still, let's talk about the past.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Let's get to the receivers, because they do.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Let's start with We'll start with Burton. Burn is starting
- 26:07Speaker 2: to get more snaps and they're starting to really use
- 26:10Speaker 2: him because burden is that you can use him in
- 26:13Speaker 2: the screen game. He's terrific run after catch, He's a
- 26:16Speaker 2: three level dimension with his speed. He's ultimately going to
- 26:19Speaker 2: take snaps away from Zakias. He's just better. But Loveland
- 26:23Speaker 2: is so critical here because Loveland can is almost a
- 26:26Speaker 2: combination tight end wide receiver. They have been plays over
- 26:29Speaker 2: the last three four weeks where they've essentially deployed him
- 26:32Speaker 2: as a wide receiver and expected him to win against
- 26:36Speaker 2: corners and he has. So he is really kind of
- 26:39Speaker 2: a wild card in their pass offense. He is, he's
- 26:42Speaker 2: really guy. For instance, he's a smoother, more fluid athlete
- 26:46Speaker 2: than Tyler Warren. Now I'm not comparing them and saying, oh,
- 26:48Speaker 2: one's better than the other, but he's he just moves
- 26:51Speaker 2: like a big wide receiver.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And Cole Cometta is what they call an athletic y
- 26:56Speaker 1: because he's a big dude. And you look at this girl,
- 27:00Speaker 1: Greg and let let's get the DJ Moore, who's a
- 27:01Speaker 1: good Well, look, this guy's been a very good football player.
- 27:04Speaker 1: This is a because if they want to go eleven,
- 27:06Speaker 1: they gonna want to go twelve. We know, we'll talk
- 27:08Speaker 1: about the Eagles injuries on defense at a minute. To me,
- 27:12Speaker 1: if the weather holds up, this could be very challenging
- 27:15Speaker 1: for the Eagles.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and and they're all line. You know, last week
- 27:19Speaker 2: Ozzie Tripillo, the second round pick from being made his
- 27:21Speaker 2: first start and he played well. And I assume he'll
- 27:24Speaker 2: still play left tackle again this week. I don't know
- 27:26Speaker 2: what the injury is to the other kid, Benedet or Bendette.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Bendette, yes, yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Benedette, who's from Canada.
- 27:33Speaker 1: By the way, he should be available. So I got
- 27:36Speaker 1: to think based on what ben Ben Johnson another one
- 27:39Speaker 1: he beamed about because you mentioned it as his first
- 27:42Speaker 1: NFL start and they moved the football. He played pretty well,
- 27:45Speaker 1: so yeah, it might be well, yeah, they drafted.
- 27:47Speaker 2: I really like it coming out too. I thought he
- 27:49Speaker 2: could be in.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You loved him. In fact, we did our offseason stuff
- 27:54Speaker 1: for the draft. You go, there's a kid I want
- 27:56Speaker 1: to talk about a Boston college, and you go, Ozzie,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I'll see Trapelo. So I'm like, okay, go ahead.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I liked him a lot, and he played
- 28:05Speaker 2: well this week, So I don't know who the tackle
- 28:08Speaker 2: be A Bennett's okay, but but and Bennett's been okay too.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I mean, it's not like he's been a weakness or
- 28:13Speaker 2: a week link on the line. But you know, as
- 28:15Speaker 2: you said, they short up the interior of that old
- 28:17Speaker 2: line big time. It's just an offense. And by the way,
- 28:21Speaker 2: they've run the ball pretty well with both swift and
- 28:23Speaker 2: menunge I mean, it's not like they don't have a
- 28:25Speaker 2: run game. So you know, this is a pretty complete offense.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And I feel like as I and I've watched every
- 28:34Speaker 2: week of course, because you know, I get asked about
- 28:36Speaker 2: Caleb Williams, you know, more than I asked about my
- 28:38Speaker 2: wife and kids, you know, so you know, so yeah, yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 2: So the point I'm making is that, you know, I
- 28:46Speaker 2: feel like this offense is moving in the right direction
- 28:49Speaker 2: and and sort of And again it's not a matter
- 28:51Speaker 2: of numbers, you know, how I do my work. I'm
- 28:53Speaker 2: not looking just at a number on a sheet to
- 28:55Speaker 2: decide whether it's good or bad. I'm looking at the
- 28:57Speaker 2: tape and I feel like they're just moved in the
- 29:00Speaker 2: right direction in terms of the execution of the Ben
- 29:02Speaker 2: Johnson offense.

- 31:16Speaker 1: Right and again they are they've they have such a
- 31:18Speaker 1: deep uh personnel group in terms of past targets to
- 31:22Speaker 1: help Williams out. And yeah, and look here's another thing,
- 31:26Speaker 1: because Ryan Poles he addressed that their line was bad
- 31:28Speaker 1: last season. The interiors knew you've got tuning obviously in
- 31:31Speaker 1: the trade from Kansas City, Jonah Jackson, who who he
- 31:35Speaker 1: had an eye, and he's fine, he's gonna play. He's
- 31:36Speaker 1: the right guard. And Drew Dolman, who's you know, he's
- 31:40Speaker 1: a highly paid center. He came over from Atlanta, you
- 31:44Speaker 1: might remember out of Stanford, who was drafted in twenty
- 31:46Speaker 1: twenty one. They've completed Greg redone the interior off and
- 31:50Speaker 1: did him coming.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Out by the way, I thought, you know who, I
- 31:52Speaker 2: thought was pretty similar to Dolman when he I'm going
- 31:55Speaker 2: back to when guys came out. Okay, that's all I'm
- 31:58Speaker 2: talking about early.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I mean when they were drafted.
- 32:00Speaker 2: You mean when they were drafted. I think that Kendall
- 32:03Speaker 2: on the Eagles is very similar to Domen when they
- 32:05Speaker 2: came out.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Drew Kendall Drew Kennell like Dolman. Wow, that's actually a compliment. Okay, Yeah, I.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Mean, don't forget Domen was like a fourth or fifth
- 32:12Speaker 2: round pick.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I was not a Stanford right fourth Okay, but he's
- 32:14Speaker 1: been a starter, so okay, Yeah, interesting, I don't remember.
- 32:17Speaker 1: It's funny because we talked about Kendall after the draft
- 32:20Speaker 1: and we didn't ask you for a comp that. Wow,
- 32:22Speaker 1: how about that? How you? How are you pulling that
- 32:24Speaker 1: one out? Interesting? Yeah, yeah, mnung guy, but he'd beat
- 32:27Speaker 1: Roshawan Johnson's an I R. But he he took mcnung
- 32:30Speaker 1: guy out of out of Rutgers the seventh round or
- 32:33Speaker 1: that that he's been Greg, give us a little bit
- 32:35Speaker 1: of because we're gonna see him because if it's specially
- 32:37Speaker 1: if it's windy, he might have to play a lot.
- 32:39Speaker 1: What do you think of Kalamanungui's style of play?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Physical, competitive, urgent downhill, gets hard yards, not a breakaway threat,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you know, and I mean unless a runaway opens up,
- 32:51Speaker 2: but you know, just a hard, hard runner that you
- 32:54Speaker 2: know gets keeps you on schedule. That's the kind of
- 32:57Speaker 2: back he is fits well with Swift because Swift, you know,
- 33:00Speaker 2: has a little more juice obviously. But the young guy,
- 33:03Speaker 2: I mean, he had that game a few weeks ago
- 33:04Speaker 2: and he had one hundred and seventy six yards and
- 33:06Speaker 2: he made.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I couldn't believe because he's he was a seventh
- 33:10Speaker 1: round pick and not known to be explosive. So yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 1: we gave you the defensive injuries for Chicago. Offensively, they're
- 33:15Speaker 1: they're actually pretty good shape. Now we do want to
- 33:17Speaker 1: mention we'll we'll cover, we'll finish the matchups in a second,
- 33:20Speaker 1: but he do you want to mention the one The
- 33:22Speaker 1: one concern is the one DeVante Smith. They added illness
- 33:26Speaker 1: for him on Wednesday. He didn't work in their soft Yeah,
- 33:29Speaker 1: they had a light practice on Wednesday. But that's the
- 33:31Speaker 1: one that's concerning because now you got he got hit
- 33:33Speaker 1: hard in that game, shouldered chest and now on illness.
- 33:36Speaker 1: So it's something to keep an eye on as we
- 33:38Speaker 1: go forward. But Greg, this Bears team has been one
- 33:42Speaker 1: of those I just didn't see it. You've got a
- 33:43Speaker 1: rookie head coach Ben Johnson. Look, it's looked really good.
- 33:48Speaker 1: We talked about the defensive injuries, but I just saw
- 33:51Speaker 1: because you've always talked about this, Jaws would talk about it, coaches, coach, coaches, Fangio.
- 33:57Speaker 1: It surprised me a little bit, like he blitzed a
- 33:59Speaker 1: lot of no, but he blitz more than we thought
- 34:01Speaker 1: he would. And now you don't know from game to
- 34:04Speaker 1: game what.
- 34:04Speaker 2: He's going to do.
- 34:05Speaker 1: What should be Vick's approached against us this press starter.
- 34:08Speaker 4: Look, I'm not going to presume that I'm smart like
- 34:12Speaker 4: Vic Fangil, believe me, but the foundation of what they
- 34:15Speaker 4: do are one foundation, not the only foundation is they.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Really work the intermediate between the numbers in the pass game,
- 34:24Speaker 2: you know, anywhere from let's say fifteen to twenty two yards.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Those are staple concepts. It's just how they get to them.
- 34:30Speaker 2: They get to them in different ways, but you have
- 34:35Speaker 2: to somehow take those away. They can't be clean throws.
- 34:39Speaker 2: That was what was so if you're a Steelers fan,
- 34:41Speaker 2: that's what was so disappointing last week because it just
- 34:44Speaker 2: seemed like those voids were so big last week and
- 34:48Speaker 2: that it was just pitch and catch a lot of
- 34:50Speaker 2: the time for Caleb Williams, and he even missed a
- 34:53Speaker 2: few that he should have hit. But that's where they
- 34:56Speaker 2: like to attack in the pass game. And don't forget
- 35:00Speaker 2: Sidney Brown is gonna play opposite Blankets, So you get to.
- 35:03Speaker 1: That in a minute. Yeah, we're gonna get that in
- 35:04Speaker 1: the minute the personnel changes.
- 35:06Speaker 2: So yeah, and I think, you know, I don't know
- 35:09Speaker 2: how in his mind he's going to try to compensate
- 35:13Speaker 2: for the fact that Sidney Brown is not a great
- 35:15Speaker 2: pass defender, you know, so believe me, I wish I
- 35:19Speaker 2: had a great answer for you, Adam, I don't because
- 35:21Speaker 2: I'm not fic Fanjo and I'm not as smart as
- 35:23Speaker 2: he is, but he's going to have to do some
- 35:27Speaker 2: things to camouflage the fact that Brown is just not
- 35:30Speaker 2: a great pass defender.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I know that they're not going to do it. Sidney
- 35:33Speaker 1: Brown to me is more of a fourth safety third
- 35:35Speaker 1: at best. It's a shame because when he the way
- 35:39Speaker 1: that I heard it before, he towards ACL, he already
- 35:41Speaker 1: started to get the defense. It was the twenty three season,
- 35:43Speaker 1: but he really is improving that he towards ACL. He's
- 35:47Speaker 1: just been a good special teams player. What he doesn't
- 35:49Speaker 1: have penalties, but he's just I remember because I remember this,
- 35:52Speaker 1: you distinctly saying this because you're we talked about Sidney Brown,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and you know you you'll always say, hey, listen, I
- 36:00Speaker 1: we don't always a team could think one thing, I
- 36:02Speaker 1: see another. That's fine, But you said what everyone we
- 36:05Speaker 1: talked to said tone setter could hit super high character guy,
- 36:09Speaker 1: but really struggles in coverage. And that's been true to
- 36:13Speaker 1: a degree at this level. And on your point, with
- 36:17Speaker 1: with all that Ben Johnson could do, this would this
- 36:20Speaker 1: This is the one issue I have coming to this game.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Could Sidney Brown mustered up and not be a liability
- 36:26Speaker 1: because we've talked about Jackson at corner being a liability.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Could Brown not be a liability? That that's it. I'm
- 36:31Speaker 1: glad you brought this up because this is a big
- 36:33Speaker 1: concerning come of this game.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And the other question is who's going to play outside
- 36:36Speaker 2: corner Office and Mitchell. Will it be Deugene and they'll
- 36:39Speaker 2: put Carter in the slot or will they keep Eugene
- 36:41Speaker 2: in the slot and play Bennett.
- 36:43Speaker 1: You know, well, Jackson's clear. Okay, by the way, Jackson's clear,
- 36:46Speaker 1: he's off the injury board. I thought, Yeah, I mentioned
- 36:49Speaker 1: at the top. Yeah, here's what happened, Greg, So he
- 36:51Speaker 1: had a head injury, right, He motioned that he was fine.
- 36:54Speaker 1: That's what he was talking about when the camera showed him.
- 36:57Speaker 1: But he was in the protocol. He's taking all the reps,
- 37:00Speaker 1: he's cleared. He's actually off the They don't do this
- 37:03Speaker 1: a lot. He actually was removing vanderboard. But but here's
- 37:05Speaker 1: the question. Yeah, he starts, But here's the question, how
- 37:10Speaker 1: patient is it going to be? Because if the weather
- 37:12Speaker 1: holds up with this pass target group, Greg, and and
- 37:16Speaker 1: it's I know it surprised you. They could not get
- 37:18Speaker 1: very much pressure on Dak that was a big deal. Yes,
- 37:22Speaker 1: So if they don't get enough pressure and the conditions
- 37:24Speaker 1: allow it, how long is it if Jackson struggling. You
- 37:30Speaker 1: gotta do what you gotta do to win the game,
- 37:31Speaker 1: and that's what people understand to understand.
- 37:33Speaker 2: But I don't think they make a change unless it
- 37:35Speaker 2: was really bad because I'm not sure that that Cooper
- 37:38Speaker 2: de Gene can play effectively on the outside right now.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And you know, so, guy, I think Jackson, barring injury,
- 37:44Speaker 2: he's gonna play out there. The big quest you raised it,
- 37:47Speaker 2: I'm so by but I'm saying, how patient will you
- 37:49Speaker 2: be if he struggles? Yeah, but I'm glad you raised
- 37:52Speaker 2: this point about their pass rush because against Dallas last week,
- 37:56Speaker 2: their D line, four man D line pass rush was
- 37:59Speaker 2: not a big factor at all. I mean, Carter had
- 38:02Speaker 2: some really dominant plays in the run game, but not
- 38:04Speaker 2: in the past game. Phillips did not have any really
- 38:08Speaker 2: you know, big time pass rushes. They cannot rush the quarterback.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And again, you know, I'm not making a prediction here
- 38:15Speaker 2: a capable throw for this many that you know, I
- 38:17Speaker 2: don't do that. But if they can't get pressure on
- 38:20Speaker 2: Caleb Williams, he's a comfortable player. They'll have some success
- 38:23Speaker 2: in the pass game.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Some Greg with his arm as you talked about it,
- 38:27Speaker 1: and uh Dak once they once they were able to
- 38:30Speaker 1: protect him. You saw as the game went along. I
- 38:33Speaker 1: know the Eagles played well in the first half, but
- 38:35Speaker 1: you saw them, you saw Dallas the Eagles. Now we
- 38:37Speaker 1: know that Eagles had a number of injuries in the game.
- 38:39Speaker 1: That's with context matters, But well, well we're gonna see
- 38:43Speaker 1: what happens. This is a this is this is a
- 38:45Speaker 1: fascinating matchup. Man. I'm I'm looking forward to it. I
- 38:49Speaker 1: know it could be it could be a problem because
- 38:51Speaker 1: of the Eagles issues at corner opposite Mitchell and that
- 38:55Speaker 1: that seems to me like the call of every game.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Can they hold up opposite Mitchell? And that's that's fascinating.
- 39:00Speaker 1: So anything else you want to add before we get
- 39:03Speaker 1: to our players of the game and score.
- 39:04Speaker 2: I think we've covered it all because you know, otherwise
- 39:06Speaker 2: we're just repeating. I mean the fact I do that yep,
- 39:09Speaker 2: somewhere you're gonna have to be able to run the ball.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I mean that's if they can't do that, it just
- 39:14Speaker 2: gets too hard, all right.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Players of the game we're gonna start with you at
- 39:18Speaker 1: the score. I can't imagine you're gonna do There's no
- 39:20Speaker 1: we we seem to think a lot at the same time,
- 39:22Speaker 1: there's no way you're getting this.
- 39:24Speaker 2: This one is really hard because the bottom line is,
- 39:26Speaker 2: and I hate thinking about this when I do this
- 39:29Speaker 2: and pick a game, but the reality is it's very
- 39:33Speaker 2: hard to play at the link on the you know,
- 39:35Speaker 2: on the road. It's it's just hard. And you know,
- 39:37Speaker 2: it's just one of those things, you know. I mean,
- 39:39Speaker 2: I I don't know the reason why, but it's hard.
- 39:43Speaker 2: So I just feel like that the Eagles won't turn
- 39:47Speaker 2: it over this week. That was a little fluky last week.
- 39:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna pick the Eagles, not with a ton of conviction,
- 39:53Speaker 2: but I'm going to pick them twenty four to twenty.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I think their defense will play better. I think they'll
- 39:59Speaker 2: front will play better, and I think that's the key
- 40:02Speaker 2: for their defense. And player of the game. Oh, this
- 40:08Speaker 2: is a really hard one because I was thinking about this.
- 40:15Speaker 2: You know, I'm gonna go with what what maybe ideally
- 40:19Speaker 2: was the start of something. Last week, I'm gonna pick
- 40:21Speaker 2: a J. Brown.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Oh okay, all right, real, okay, I didn't know you're
- 40:26Speaker 1: gonna say that. You know that everyone's asking, does he
- 40:28Speaker 1: look the same as he lost the step? How did
- 40:31Speaker 1: you look on tape last week?
- 40:32Speaker 2: That's you he looked Okay, I mean he finally caught
- 40:35Speaker 2: some in breakers, and yeah, I mean, is it possible.
- 40:38Speaker 2: First of all, he came in the league. He was
- 40:40Speaker 2: never a burner, you know, so he's not a four
- 40:43Speaker 2: to three five guy. But you know, they finally caught
- 40:46Speaker 2: some in breakers. In fact, Hurts had one of his
- 40:48Speaker 2: best throwers of the season on a twenty two yard
- 40:50Speaker 2: are on third down. It was beautiful. Couldn't do it
- 40:53Speaker 2: any better than that. So yeah, I'm gonna pick because
- 40:55Speaker 2: don't forget, their corner situation is not top notch either
- 40:59Speaker 2: for the Bears.
- 41:00Speaker 1: No, but nay Sean Wright, our guy, six foot four,
- 41:03Speaker 1: He bounces around good good nice story by the way.
- 41:06Speaker 1: You know he after what happened with him in Dallas
- 41:08Speaker 1: and min Yeah, Vikings. But all right, here we go.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I have not picked against the Eagles this season, but
- 41:16Speaker 1: I'm going to this game. They just it's just a
- 41:19Speaker 1: gut feeling sometimes I think I would have been right
- 41:21Speaker 1: about Hurts last week if they didn't turn the ball
- 41:23Speaker 1: well it wasn't just the turnamers, but if the damn
- 41:25Speaker 1: Pendleys in the second half, ridiculous Hurts played fine. I
- 41:29Speaker 1: didn't know you were going to talk about Coulston Loveland
- 41:31Speaker 1: so lovingly as you did. But I've got Colston Lovelan.
- 41:36Speaker 1: I just have a feeling with It's a good thing. Yeah,
- 41:39Speaker 1: with commitment, and I know the conditions that might not
- 41:41Speaker 1: be good and that this might not turn out to
- 41:43Speaker 1: be great. But Cairo Santos a game winning feel, the
- 41:47Speaker 1: veteran king. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm going for Although Jake
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yelliot boy, that's a tricky me to be. You didn't
- 41:53Speaker 1: give a score, Yeah, thank you, twenty to seventeen. I'm
- 41:56Speaker 1: mister low score. But you make a good point. Eagles
- 41:59Speaker 1: are one of the hardest teams to be at home. Now.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It's a short week, a little bit of a shorter week.
- 42:07Speaker 1: It's sometimes it's good to have it. If you have
- 42:08Speaker 1: a terrible loss like that, you come home. But I'm
- 42:12Speaker 1: like you, I'm just missed. I'm almost stupefied at this
- 42:16Speaker 1: this offense because it looked like they were rolling. You
- 42:20Speaker 1: know what happened the second half, the turnovers, the penalties,
- 42:23Speaker 1: I it's just ridiculous. They actually had fifteen penalties. One
- 42:28Speaker 1: was offsetting. I just don't know. And they also had
- 42:30Speaker 1: a bunch of special teams penalties. And they're better coach
- 42:33Speaker 1: than this. But you've said it a lot. The last
- 42:36Speaker 1: you said it last year with Kellen Moore, and he's
- 42:38Speaker 1: a good coordinator. You don't really know what you're getting
- 42:40Speaker 1: from this to Goo's offense from week week, I have
- 42:42Speaker 1: no idea. And they can't run the football at all,
- 42:44Speaker 1: certainly not. If they can't run it, then you don't know.
- 42:47Speaker 1: It's tough. It's tough, all right, good stuff, Greg, nice
- 42:50Speaker 1: and tight. Yeah, we covered just about everything. Yeah is
- 42:52Speaker 1: mister mister Greg Colt by the way, real quick on
- 42:55Speaker 1: the Matchup Show? What are you covering this week?
- 42:57Speaker 2: Let's see we have because don't forget, we can't do
- 43:02Speaker 2: the Thanksgiving games on Eagles game because we're a weekend show,
- 43:06Speaker 2: so we lost a lot of really good matchups because
- 43:09Speaker 2: of that. So we're doing Texans, Colts, Vikings, Seahawks, Bill's, Steelers, Broncos, Commanders, Giants,
- 43:15Speaker 2: Patriots which is Monday night and Rams Panthers. And how
- 43:19Speaker 2: about that. Matthew Stafford with thirty touchdowns and two picks.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Can he finally be an MVP? I mean he is.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's funny because I remember the knock with him, the
- 43:28Speaker 1: lack of discipline, you know, the off platform stuff. When's
- 43:31Speaker 1: you gonna throw on time? Talk about a marriage in
- 43:34Speaker 1: a West Coast offense with with McVeigh. Now he's got
- 43:39Speaker 1: to be talked about in the Hall of Fame some days.
- 43:40Speaker 1: That's phenomenal. He's going to be in the top ten
- 43:43Speaker 1: in every category. Yeah, yeah, he better be in the
- 43:46Speaker 1: Hall of Fame someday. So yeah, all right, great stuff,
- 43:48Speaker 1: mister Cosell, Madam Kaplan, We'll see you next week.
