- 2:09event happening next week as a fundraiser for the West Virginia Breast Health Initiative,
- 2:15and Donna d Hart is going to join us to talk about that. Plus,
- 2:19we have standing by to my immediate left, we have a Charleston Icon,
- 2:24a living legend, if you will, as my guest hoes today,
- 2:28Tony, the Taylor parents. You know, Tony, good morning? How
- 2:30are you? Good morning? Everybody? Dave, how are you? I
- 2:32really thought when I said all that there, you'd be much more animated.
- 2:36And you say, yes, I am a living legend. This is what
- 2:38they tell me. But I don't be a dead legend. That is true.
- 2:43Chris Lawrence is here. Chris, let's talk a little high school football.
- 2:46I am a legend, absolutely no question, and a Hall of famer.
- 2:51Are you a Hall of Famer of anything? Tony? We can't discuss
- 2:54that, Okay, that's right, all right. Chris is a West Virginia
- 2:58Badcasting Hall of Famer. He's here to talk about high school football. We've
- 3:00got a good one man tonight. We got a great game parking in Midland.
- 3:04Yeah, probably one of the best games we've had all year. It's
- 3:07certainly the game of the week in just about every corner of the state because
- 3:10it's number one versus number three. Cable Midland tied with Huntington, the defending
- 3:15state champ, for the number one ranking in the SSAC this week, and
- 3:17Hurricane comes in at number three. So whoever wins this one tonight probably gonna
- 3:22be on top next week. So even over top of Huntington, well it
- 3:27would. I don't know exactly how the math works, but I mean possibly.
- 3:31I mean, I like the beginning of the season, I thought Cable
- 3:35Midland is going to win it all because they're on a mission, because their
- 3:37last season was for them, a mediocre. I think they lost three games.
- 3:43You got to say for them though, for them, for them,
- 3:46because they are a powerhouse and this will be a good game. But I
- 3:49got Cabo Midland in fourteen points. Okay, Yeah, well we'll find out
- 3:53because it should be a good game. Cable Midland courses always physical and they
- 3:59sort of that's kind of their hallmark is just dominate the ball, pound you
- 4:03and pound you into submission and move on, whereas Hurricane has a more balanced
- 4:06attack. Last week against Princeton, Novella, Tobby and a driving rainstorm ran
- 4:12the ball like forty times. They just kept handing it off to him because
- 4:15he was in the zone. But if they have to, their quarterback has
- 4:18some passing capability, and he has about three great receivers that he could pick
- 4:24apart the defensive secondary if he needs to. So it'll be interesting to see
- 4:26how that plays out tonight. I certainly hope Hurricane has a better I mean,
- 4:30with this being a home game, they shouldn't go through what they went
- 4:30through last week to try to get to the game, because they literally,
- 4:34I mean their bus was late, there was an accident on the interstate,
- 4:38and they got there about like five minutes before the game or something ridiculous like
- 4:42that. So they're playing at home. Shouldn't be a problem. Yeah,
- 4:46they got there, and they got there about seven fifteen for a seven thirty
- 4:50kickoff, and they said we're moving it to eight o'clock. But that's all.
- 4:53Yeah, that's it. No later than eight o'clock. And I wondered
- 4:57when we were because we were at Wayne last week and I kept looking at
- 4:59the score. Why are they still in the first quarter? Good lord?
- 5:01But that was why. So after the game stick around. As you said,
- 5:04it's going to be probably the game of the year in West Virginia so
- 5:06far, Middland Hurricane. We'll have coverage starting at what time seven o'clock and
- 5:10then the kickoff is at seven point thirty at Jim McGee field Redskins Stadium,
- 5:14and then of course after the game, stick around for Dave, Jacklynfred Person
- 5:16and the crew with Game Night West Virginia Outdoors tomorrow morning seven or six.
- 5:19What you got got a couple of guys that killed big bucks. I was
- 5:24trying to think. One of them is from down in your country, a
- 5:30man West Virginia teenager who this year completed the trifecta. He's not even a
- 5:34senior in high school yet, and during his high school years he's killed three
- 5:39of those slunger trophy bucks that you are so well known for in Logan County.
- 5:43Wow, all right, so that'll be fun to talk to him about.
- 5:45And then another young man killed a pretty nice buck in Gilmour County.
- 5:49And that guy's I think he's barely double digits in age. I think he's
- 5:54like ten or eleven years old, so we'll talk to him and his dad
- 5:56about that how that went down. And fall Turkey season is here, so
- 6:00we'll have a conversation about that. All right. All sounds good, Chris,
- 6:03You and Matt guitar, Murphy and Jarrett have a great game tonight there
- 6:09in Hurricane and we'll talk to you next week. Man, thanks so much.
- 6:11Sounds good. Man, have a good one. Our phone calls to

- 6:33Let's go to Hannah Gardner from the Kenaal Charleston, New Maine Association with
- 6:36this week saidop me please pet of the Week. Hannah, Good morning,
- 6:41Good morning, and Hannah. This is Tony the Taylor Tony the Taylor men
- 6:45and Hannah. How are you hello? I'm good? How are you all
- 6:47right? Everybody's good? Let's talk about Flynn. Beautiful dog pick posted now
- 6:53Dave Allen Radio on Facebook and at Dave A seventy on x That's the artist
- 6:57formerly known as Twitter tell us about Flynn. Flynn isn't male. He's a
- 7:03very very handsome man. He's neutered already. He's about a year old,
- 7:10maybe like a year and a half ish, but he is considered an adult
- 7:15dog. He is a He prefers female dogs. First of all. He
- 7:20doesn't I think if you have a male dog, you would want to do
- 7:24a meet and Greek with your male dog along with Lynn, just because he
- 7:29is pretty selective over the male dogs that he has. He just likes female
- 7:32dogs for the most part. But he is playful. He's very playful.
- 7:36Actually, he also prefers playful dogs because he wants someone who he can play
- 7:42with, run with, and maybe even play out in the yard with or
- 7:46something. He definitely would probably benefit from a nice yard because he does have
- 7:50some energy. But when he's on the leash, he does pool a little
- 7:56bit, so they would need someone who's patient or understanding and and helping him
- 8:01learn how to walk on a leash. I mean he is all right on
- 8:05the lease. She just pooled sometimes. And then we consider him a class
- 8:09clown just because he's pretty clumsy. He's he's very funny to play with and
- 8:15watch and he's just a he's a really good dog all around. So he
- 8:18just needs a good home. He's a beautiful dog. And again you can
- 8:20go take a look at it. Tony the scientful dog. I love dogs.
- 8:24Yeah, he's a beautiful too. No, I'm my animal, and
- 8:28I prefer females just like just like flyint Hannah. This is the final week
- 8:33of the twenty five dollars adoption fee special from Bissle. I think that this
- 8:39is a nationwide event. Talk about that. Yeah, So it is the
- 8:43final weekend for the twenty five dollars adoption specials Bistle Pet Foundation. They are
- 8:48the ones who helped cover the adoption fees, and I believe it is national.
- 8:54But it ends on the fifteenth. The fifteenth like the last day for
- 8:58you to come out and do the adoption fees for the twenty five if you're
- 9:01wanting to come out and get an adult dog, a cat, or a
- 9:03kitten. I know that our puppies are not included in it unless they are
- 9:09in our like adult dog kennel area. So come up and talk to us,
- 9:13meet some of the dogs, and adopt them. Yeah, exactly.
- 9:16I want to give a big shout out to hand it to the folks at
- 9:18Bridge Valley Community and Technical College. They hosted you folks, I think out
- 9:22there. I saw some of the pictures online and some awesome, awesome animals
- 9:26were out there, and we're able to get some adopted as well out of
- 9:28Bridge Valley. Yeah. Yeah, we love when other places, businesses,
- 9:33or any schools or anything just reach out to us and they want to have
- 9:37like a little like puppy day. They always say that, you know,
- 9:41like if they're having some like testing or something like that, that they love
- 9:45to have something happy afterwards. So that way we usually come out and we'll
- 9:50just let everybody love them the puppies. See. I got an idea.
- 9:52Tony the Taylor, you know, has this very very nice exclusive men shop
- 9:58downtown Charles. We'll talk about that little bit later on. How about we
- 10:01host one of these with Tony the Taylor. Could you do that. I
- 10:03could possibly because we're a very dog friendly store. We keep treats and water
- 10:07bowls. There, there you go, and there you go, Hannah.
- 10:09I'd also like to say that we also help with the cakes for canines directly.
- 10:15Oh yes, once or twice a year, usually now as many times
- 10:18as we can. So there you go. Hand If you need a place
- 10:20to have one of your events, you can have it right here in downtown
- 10:24Charleston with Tony the Taylor's Place. It is awesome and earn an artwalk.
- 10:28You put little ties on the dog Tony. You can make that happen good.
- 10:33Yeah, Hanna, I got a question here for you because you always
- 10:37have you know your fans. A wait, I have a couple of questions
- 10:39here for you, okay. One says for Hannah, are you still the
- 10:41need of thing such as newspapers and plastic grocery bags? Also is the canned
- 10:46cat food boxes that you used as litter boxes and the cat cages? Could
- 10:50you use different size of aluminum pants for that? I'm hoping to get a
- 10:52donation of odds and ins together for you guys and all those sweet babies.
- 10:56There says a texture. Yes, so we do still use the cardboard trays
- 11:03as well as you know, if we need them, we'll use the aluminum
- 11:05one, as long as they're not like tall, like if they're like shorter
- 11:09or something, we'll use those ones. And then of course we're still accepting
- 11:13all the sheets and blankets and newspapers and stuff like that because those go through
- 11:18or we go through those so fast, so we're always accepting those. And
- 11:22okay, and you had another question here for somebody asked, how are the
- 11:24fourteen puppies that were left outside the gate doing? That was last week somebody
- 11:28right around the time I think that you want it actually happened last Thursday night,
- 11:31I think, and I had you on the air Friday. Somebody just
- 11:35left a basically a box crate or something of fourteen puppies outside the gate there
- 11:39at the shelter. Texter wants to know how are they doing? Well?
- 11:45I believe it's not all. Then most of them are adopted. Okay,
- 11:50yeah, so they were fine, they were great, and they if like
- 11:54I said, if not all, I would have to double check groun.
- 11:56I'm pretty sure all of them are adopted. All right, all right,
- 12:00Hannah. As always, it's a pleasure to talk to you. Keep doing
- 12:03great stuff. We'll talk again next weekend. Thanks a lot, thank you,
- 12:05Thank you, Anna. And that is Hannah from the Canal Charles Newman
- 12:09Association with this week's Adopt Me Please pat of the Week picture posted at Dave
- 12:11Allen Radio and Facebook and at Dave A seventy on X. It is Flynn,
- 12:18one year old male newter. Prefers female dogs over male dogs, pulls
- 12:22a little on his leash, as does Tony the Taylor. Real class clown
- 12:26and clumsy as is Tony the Taylor. Came in as astray, got adopted,
- 12:31then came back as astray, and then no one ever claimed. So
- 12:35this would be a beautiful dog, as I said, he, as Hannah
- 12:37said, he prefers to be around female dogs. But that's not to say
- 12:41that male dogs are of the question. Maybe do a little meat and greet,
- 12:43contact that folks up at the shelter and get it taken care of and
- 12:48let's get Flynn adopted. Five eighty Live is brought to you in part by

- 17:02Metioriloge. Brian Hughes tells me that nothing's going to be a rain out this
- 17:04weekend. That's just going to be kind of possibly off and on showers tomorrow.
- 17:08It's just going to be so we are just hoping for the best,

- 19:03Yeah, I'm fangirling over Tony over here. I'm sorry you're fangirling over
- 19:07Tony. Why I've heard so much about Himan. I've never met him.
- 19:11Yeah, I'm my friends na him and I've never met him. Is it
- 19:12all you thought he would be? Yes? Absolutely, Well I've got Steve
- 19:18Animal from our sister station ninety eight to seven that's here of the Mountain and
- 19:22he's going to jump in here just a couple of moments as well, so
- 19:26you can also fangirl over over Steve if you want to fangirling over Steve.
- 19:30Yeah, we all in the corner. Let's talk about this big fundraiser you
- 19:36got going on. It is the third annual event here. Have you done
- 19:40a comedy show like this before. This is actually the third annual HA has
- 19:45for Okay Okay. So we realized a long time ago that laughter is the
- 19:49best medicine, and so for a lot of our constituents and breast cancer survivors,
- 19:56we wanted to have an event that they could come out to and just
- 19:59have some fun. So it's being hosted by the Holiday and in Sweets in
- 20:03South Charleston, and we have two comedies on comedians coming up from Charlotte that
- 20:11are fantastic. Al Ernest is actually he'll be here next Friday. He'll be
- 20:15on the show next Friday, and he was one he's one of Carnival Cruz's
- 20:18favorite comedians. So they're coming and it's just going to be a great time.
- 20:22And this is all next Friday night, right next Friday, October twentieth,
- 20:26and again we'll have at least one of the folks will be on the
- 20:30show with us next week. I think Amanda Baron is going to serve as
- 20:33your mc Amanda of course from WWK. Amanda is going to be guest hosting
- 20:37the show next week, so she'll be here with me next week. Is
- 20:38well, first person ever to be a two for the first first one to
- 20:42ever repeat as a as a guest host on on Friday Fun House Amanda,
- 20:48the first time that anybody's ever hosted it twice. It's not like the Oscars,
- 20:52right, No, no exactly. So I got a call. I
- 20:56got to ask you this. Don I got a call from my good friend,
- 20:59frequent call to the show, Jim Brown on the show yesterday and heard
- 21:03me talking about the event. And Jim is wheelchair bound and asked about getting
- 21:07tickets for himself, and I mean, he's willing to pay for we didn't
- 21:11want for free. Well maybe he does, I don't know, but no,
- 21:12he was talking about what kind of accommodations could there be for those in
- 21:15wheelchairs. I mean, do they just call you ahead of time or are
- 21:18you good to go? Or what? One hundred percent wheelchair accessibility at the
- 21:22holiday and in sweets in South Charleston not one problem whatsoever? Okay, all
- 21:26right, Jim, So I hope you heard that. So we'll get you
- 21:29in there next week as well. We're going to be talking about this event
- 21:32going on next week and of course all the proceeds are going to pick benefit
- 21:36the West Virginia Breast Health Initiative. Talk about that organization. Well, the
- 21:38West Virginia Breast Health Initiative is a one to one hundred percent West Virginia grassroots
- 21:44organization, So one hundred percent of the funds that we raise here in West
- 21:47Virginia stays here in West Virginia. We're a statewide organization. We service all
- 21:52fifty five counties in West Virginia. I am actually the only staff person,
- 21:57and everyone else is volunteer. Wonderful volunteers like Amanda Baron and like the people.
- 22:03You know, a lot of the people at our office that help make
- 22:07you know this all happen. So we focus primarily on helping uninsured and underinsured
- 22:15West Virginias get breast house screenings as well as helping survivors who are currently going
- 22:21through treatments be able to get back and forth. You know. We help
- 22:25with gas cards, hotel, accommodations if they have to travel and stay all
- 22:29night, with compression sleeves, survivor ambassadors, just someone to help talk you
- 22:34through this, you know, and you know things like that. All right.
- 22:38So the event is called Hajas for the Tatas, and it's next week
- 22:44at the next Friday, night and what times you start again? VP starts.
- 22:48VIP party is at six thirty from seven from six thirty to seven thirty.
- 22:52If you buy the VIP tickets, which is just a little bit more,
- 22:56you get free adult average and free heavy Appetizers Heavy Aptizer. That's one
- 23:04of your bands, uh, the Chicken, Chris Coge Heavy Appetizers, My
- 23:11partying gifts here today. Tony actually played in a band called Heavy Appetizers,
- 23:14I believe at one point, all right, where can people? Where can
- 23:15people get tickets? On our website at w v b h I dot org.
- 23:22All right, Donald, what about men's breast cancer? Nobody really talks
- 23:26about that, And I think that's will overlook that it's a thing. It
- 23:30is a very big thing, and I've done several people who have had it,
- 23:33and but it's, uh, you know, when they talk about get
- 23:37screened, it's it's obviously women focused. Uh, but maybe I don't know
- 23:42more talk about having men getting screened or asking their provider, their medical provider.
- 23:48Absolutely, thank you, Tony. Excellent question. Last year about this
- 23:52time, we got a call from a gentleman named Beckley who had found a
- 23:56lump and he was concerned and so he couldn't go through the regular channels to
- 24:03get a mamogram, so we asked we were able to provide a mamogram for
- 24:07him in an ultrasound and a biopsy as well in Beckley so that he could
- 24:11get a concrete diagnosis at which he did, which was stage three breast cancer.
- 24:15So then we were able to help him. And actually he went to
- 24:22UVA for treatment because he was a male, and they actually provided all of
- 24:26his treatment pro bono because they learned from him. So he was excellent.
- 24:33And now Jeff is the person that when some guy calls and says, hey,
- 24:37you know, I kind of find something, but I'm a little nervous
- 24:38about talking to you about this, we send them to Jeff. Okay,
- 24:41that's awesome, And that's very good point, Tony, because I had a
- 24:45former coworker of mine in the world of radio that actually I had developed a
- 24:48male that developed a breast cancer. They just don't talk about it. Jeff,
- 24:52all right, we're going to be talking about this big event all through
- 24:55next week because again it's next Friday night at the Holiday Inn there bringing back
- 24:59to Comedies own, you know, for this, So we're excited about this.
- 25:03It's the Haha for Tata's event, hosted by Amanda Baron. It will
- 25:06be next week and we'll have again one of the comics is gonna be on
- 25:08there. We'll be on the show next week, as will Amanda. Donna.
- 25:11I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot, Thank you, Donna.
- 25:14Thank If you like tatas, donate to the TATA. Yes, come,
- 25:18let's tell this thing out. We're all about halfway sold out. Okay,
- 25:22so hopefully this time next week when now's here, we don't have tickets,
- 25:25but we're going to have a blast. All right, sounds good,
- 25:27don I appreciate you being here. Thanks, thanks for having me. And
- 25:30again it's sponsored by the West Virginia Breast Health Initiative. For some reason,
- 25:34Steve Animal from our sister station the Mountain is been floating around here. I
- 25:38don't know exactly why that is, but he was. He was looking through
- 25:42the glass at me, because Steve, why are you here? Why are
- 25:48you anywhere? For that matter? I'm here. This building is awful.
- 25:52Okay, okay, what are you doing? What am I doing? I'm
- 25:56doing lots of things, Tony. Good to see your brother, to see
- 25:57it, Dave, it's the same I'm going to be out and about.
- 26:03I have two things going on coming up at twelve thirty today, the eighth
- 26:06annual Ride for Fallen Service Here Heroes to benefit and honor the West Virginia gold

- 27:19Have you had a chance to listen to our new station? Yeah? Oh
- 27:22yeah, I love it. It's fantastic. It's a radio back for the
- 27:29young people aor means outum oriented rock. Yeah, and for and for those
- 27:33that haven't had a chance. And we've talked about it, but people that
- 27:37and the response has been absolutely phenomenal to and this is what you know used
- 27:41to be the beat. We moved the beat to one oh seven three and
- 27:45what he's just killing it right now on that. I mean I was listening
- 27:48to I was listening in Logan a couple of days ago, and it's all
- 27:53down, So he's killing it there. So we took the frequency that was
- 27:57that was ninety seven. It still there now. It's classic rock, but
- 28:00it's different. It's not. There's another rock station in town. That's all
- 28:03well and good. They do what they do, but this is something a
- 28:04little bit different because it's nothing but classic rock with no new stuff exactly.
- 28:10It's fantastic and I'm glad Steve Animals back on their waves. And Larry Shockley.
- 28:15Larry's probably still sleeping. Yeah, well I'm gonna wake him up here
- 28:18in about twenty five. Shockley is working on his hair right now. I

- 34:14about disability cars. Yeah, yeah, it's cars that are specially I guess
- 34:19modified for those with disabilities. I thought that. I told my wife that.
- 34:22I said, man, I think that's pretty honest, fantastic. And
- 34:23other cars going to be there too, other show cars, Yeah, some
- 34:25people showing their cars. So I mean, try to take all these but
- 34:29yet there's nothing to do. There's nothing to do, and the surrounding areas
- 34:32there's nothing to do. I mean, I don't know, there's no way
- 34:35you could possibly take all these things. And that voice you hear is Tony
- 34:37the Tailor. Tony, of course is my guest host on the on the
- 34:42show today. Uh So I want to get to know Tony the Tailor a
- 34:45little bit. Help Heaven, help us all. Tell us about your background
- 34:49in the clothing business. I was basically forced child labor. You know,
- 34:54my dad started the business. And uh, you know, in Italian families,
- 34:59you go to work when you're nine years old and it's an Italian it's
- 35:01an Italian constitution, is It's right, it's that and uh and you get
- 35:05bolt cutters for your Communion first Communian present when you're when you're nine seven.
- 35:09But anyway, uh so, my dad started a tailor shop. My dad
- 35:14was a wildly famous tailor in the industry and around the country and made suits
- 35:17for famous people. So I had to go to work at nine, and
- 35:21I wasn't making suits at nine, but I would come in after at school,
- 35:24and of course my dad didn't pay me, so I had a paper
- 35:27route and daily mail carrier, which I still apply those principles to business today.
- 35:31Uh. And then I'd go to ride my bike downtown to Summer Street
- 35:35where it started, and basically I would sweep the shop and cut out pant
- 35:39bottoms and uh, tear apart garments. And that's the first started becoming a
- 35:44tailors. It's called to rip is to learn, and you're ripping apart to
- 35:46garments because you see how they're built. Uh. Kind of like a car
- 35:50mechanic, you tear down engines to see how they're then you put them back
- 35:52together. Uh. And that's it, and it just kind of took off
- 35:58from there. Was there a time that you thought, because I know you're
- 36:00a music guy, we're gonna talk about it a little bit later, but
- 36:02there's the time I know you loved your family, and every business time you
- 36:06thought, man, I don't want to do this, I don't want to
- 36:07do this, or did it just happened yesterday, right, yeah, it
- 36:12has Tuesday this No. I was fascinated with music. My sister was a
- 36:17big influence in music of my life and just fell in love with it.
- 36:22Started playing instruments, but my main thing was recording and I want to be
- 36:27recording engineer. And I'm a child of the a seventies and eighties. Mutt
- 36:31Lang was it still is a phenomenal record producer and I was going to be
- 36:36him. And I was accepted to a prestigious music school after I submitted my
- 36:39tapes and my dad said, why do you want to do that? For
- 36:44you got to go to work and that was it. And so my mission
- 36:49now is when I see young people wanting to be musicians and pursue their dreams,
- 36:55do it. Don't let people tell you no or use that as a
- 36:59fuel to propel yourself. But always learn other skills, right because it's a
- 37:02tough jobs. It's a tough long run it is. There's a lot of
- 37:07people know there's a lot of great players out there who have nobody's ever heard
- 37:10of. Oh yeah, yeah, some of the best are out there.

- 37:35Street. And by the way, is it true someone told me this this
- 37:37morning for a long time customer of yours who shall remain names, told me
- 37:43that you were somehow wrapped up in the OJ trial. Yes? Is that
- 37:46a true story up to a point. Not the trial, Yeah, investigation,
- 37:52the investigation of OJ. We were a Bruno Malier dealer and one of
- 37:57the very few in the United States during that time. And we actually we
- 38:00still are fantastic shoes, sold them and contrary to OJ's opinion of them,
- 38:07they were really good looking shoes. Well he said, he said I would
- 38:09I would be ugly blank shoes because they was brought up in the trial about
- 38:14that. He said, I would be caught wearing those ugly pictures. But
- 38:19so, uh, you know this, this the murder happened, and it's
- 38:22all in the press and it's so fresh, and like two days later,
- 38:28an FBI agent comes in our store with a search warrant, which is not
- 38:31unusual. It's not unusually, it's just happens every day, every Tuesday,
- 38:35every tuesdays the FBI day with Tony the Taylor, Uh come in because I
- 38:40don't need to talk to you about any point is that we had this big
- 38:43Bruno mice out in my dad's store. He talked to you about them.
- 38:46And so the first thing I thought Italian tax evasion, just because as a
- 38:52thing in Italy, and like okay, So we open the office and he
- 38:57has this vanilla folder. He opens up and it's a fact and he facts
- 39:00is an antique machine for the young people would actually print documents transmitted over phone
- 39:06lines of the Luther boot because I knew immediately what it was, because it's
- 39:14a very rare at this time frame that there was rubber soled shoes and this
- 39:19was kind of a cutting edge technology gore tex shoe, but the lugs on
- 39:24it or the Brune Wali logo. If you're going to whack somebody wear Nikes,
- 39:30that because everybody has Nikes, don't wear Bruno Wali shoe there's only twenty
- 39:35five shoes made of it. And they said, and I looked at I
- 39:38said, what's the Luther boot? And he goes, yeah, you were
- 39:40sold two parent size twelve. I need to know who bottom. And I
- 39:45was like, well, I mean it's hard, you know, we can
- 39:45go through records and figured it out. And then he just point blank asked
- 39:51me if O. J. Simpson ever been in our store, which he
- 39:52had had because his blocking back, who he credited with all his eleven thousand
- 40:00in yours was from Sistonsville, West Virginia, Jim Braxton. Jim Braxton,
- 40:04and he would put up Jim Braxton used to put on a golf tournament all
- 40:06the time, and of course O J. Would be a big draw before
- 40:09before the murder and not so much now, not so much now. And
- 40:15you know, and he had come into store. Uh, but we didn't
- 40:19sell the shoes. And he actually bought him at a Bloomingdale's in Brentwood in
- 40:24California. However, I missed a book deal. I missed it being on
- 40:29Larry King Live and all of that stuff because I didn't sell him the shoes.
- 40:32I was just told that story this morning, and I was like I
- 40:36gotta ask him about that, so I let you tie it down. I
- 40:38mean it was it was one in the and one of the you know,
- 40:40the lead detect one of the lead detectives in the case had ties to Lincoln
- 40:44County, Philip Nata. Yeah, I actually got it. I actually have
- 40:47a picture somewhere of me being arrested by Philip VANNATDA. I'm not actually being
- 40:52arrested, but we were at a party and he was retired at that point.
- 40:55So I got to do this picture. And I did a picture of
- 40:58Philip Vannatdter, who's now since past, handcuffing me. And that's just another
- 41:02Saturday night, you know, for me. So I'm not sure we're at
- 41:06handcuffs now. Well that's just for fun, all right, So let me
- 41:09do this before we go to break. We got to get you ten questions.
- 41:13So about the store. About I mean, there aren't a whole lot
- 41:15of us out there anymore. There is not. There really is not,
- 41:20which is sad. But however, there's a probably I'm in a buying group
- 41:24with with forty eight other stores like mine throughout the country, and we're independent
- 41:30retailers, and we band together so we can buy as a larger retailer.
- 41:35But we sell you know, quality clothing. We tailor it for free.
- 41:39That's the thing. People will go all about to suit for ninety nine dollars

- 42:13Dear Dave, Tony and I are both Washington football fans. Please ask him

- 42:20his belt. By the way, have he destroyed Dallas last year and his
- 42:23first ever started just saying yes and destroying Dallas that same house? The man?
- 42:30Yeah, I mean he's the man already. But I really love Sam
- 42:31Howe and I think he's in a great Redskins quarterbacks. He is going to
- 42:37be up. There's really young. I think he's young. He has the
- 42:39tools. Offensive line. Sony's a little work and I think that's important.
- 42:45And I think the past few years by the quarterbacks have suffered because they have
- 42:47not had a line and you have to give them time. But as long
- 42:51as we beat Dallas twice this year, good lord? All right? Well

- 46:58we call ten Questions. Tony the Taylor's my guest host to day. Tony,
- 47:00I'm going to ask you ten questions, ten totally at random questions.
- 47:05You've not seen the questions. You have no idea what I'm about to ask
- 47:07answers honestly and as rapidly as you can. And for those listening at home
- 47:10in the office, car on your device, as always, no wageram Tony
- 47:15the Taylor parents. You know, are you ready? I guess I'm ready?
- 47:19Does this ab or no? You give me? Or just fireway a
- 47:22R fireway. As a fashion guru, this is the one fashion statement article
- 47:29or clothing or way of wearing it that you can't stand when they call red
- 47:35shirts dress shirts. There's no such thing as a red dress shirt or a
- 47:37black dress shirt. It's a sports shirt. Because I know you're a huge
- 47:42fan of the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins now the Commanders. Who
- 47:45is your all time favorite Washington player John Riggins as a Cowboy fan, I
- 47:50actually like Reggelstigan. I know you're a big music guy. What's your all
- 47:53time favorite guitar solo or a part of a particular song that really highlights some
- 47:59killer guitar work in your opinion? One of my favorite guitar players and guitar
- 48:02solos is Mark Ford of the Black Crows, who's no longer with him,
- 48:07but he was with them for a good stint and on several albums, and
- 48:10it's called My Morning Song. It's one of my favorite songs that played every
- 48:14Sunday morning. Okay, you are a foodie as am I other than Italian?
- 48:20What's your favorite type of food? What ease, neat freak, slob
- 48:23or somewhere in between. I'm a neat freak. If someone wants to start
- 48:29an argument with Tony the Taylor, what do they need to bring up anything?
- 48:32Okay? I mean I'll argue about Ivy. Even if you agree with
- 48:37you, I still argue. A place, a place that you have traveled,
- 48:42that others love that you think is way overrated. Myrtle Beach, the
- 48:46ash tray of America. I made my first trip to Burtle Beach a couple
- 48:51two years ago. I was not that bad. Actually, it's it's still
- 48:53the ashtra. You have a day away from your shop, you don't have
- 48:55anything or anywhere to go, and really nothing to do. What are you
- 49:00doing playing with my grandkids? All right? Favorite nineteen seventy sitcom? Well,
- 49:08I have several. Sanford and Son is the greatest ever. But I
- 49:14love Valerie Burton to La and so one day at a time was pretty up
- 49:17there, especially when you hit puberty. All right, Well, I always
- 49:22said that, you know if fast Time is a Ridgemond high I totally off
- 49:23subject. That was my high school. Phoebe Kates pretty much propelled me into
- 49:28puberty with the pool scene. All right, final question. When I die,
- 49:30I want people to say what about me that I was kind? I
- 49:37really was a kind of person and charitable. You have completed ten questions?
- 49:40Wow? Quick? Congratulations you could count the ten? Yeah, well you
- 49:45go. Please please have a moist talent. All right, Hey, Tony,
- 49:49says a textra. I want to silent auction. A couple of years
- 49:52ago, I got a pair of Alan Edmund shoes from your shop. Everybody
- 49:54couldn't believe. I was excited to get a pair of shoes for one hundred
- 49:58and eighty five dollars. But when you wear a thirteen AAA triple A,
- 50:00you can't go to shoe world. Thanks, you're welcome, how badly,
- 50:06says a texture. Does Tony miss the bagel bakery that was on Capitol Street
- 50:10tremendously? That's that was a great loss. And I was excited when somebody
- 50:15else is gonna open up a bagel shop and that this couldn't happen. COVID
- 50:20kind of killed that, and then we had a place in each stend that
- 50:22made fresh bagels and they sadly in our longer round. So if it wants
- 50:27to make bagels, I will be your best customer. All right, Tex
- 50:30says a great guest to host Choice today. Tony has such a big heart
- 50:34and it's a lot in the community. He's a big foul mouthed teddy bear.
- 50:37And I'm on a radio and having said one word, but we've still
- 50:39got two minutes left to go. Good. I know how to act.
- 50:43I know how to act because I don't act that way. Five Viny Live

- 50:59back to the not all of your community services court ordered, sir, so,
- 51:04so talk about giving back to It's important. And this comes from my
- 51:08parents. Uh you know, we've been in business. It will be actually
- 51:12fifty years next September, and I want to say shout out to my dad
- 51:15today. It would have been his one hundred and fifth birth while Friday on
- 51:20Friday thirteenth, during the last pandemic in eighteen eighteen. Yes, he just
- 51:24checks off all the boxes in Philadelphia. That's where the family is from,
- 51:28Risley. How did they end up once Virginia? My mother was here,
- 51:31my dad was here doing a trunk show had yesterday. He was a famous
- 51:37guy. Comes in and my mom worked at a men's store downtown and the
- 51:40love is grand. Did you watch a game once? Side of the WV
- 51:43agame? We I got home late and I watched some of it and I
- 51:45said, we had to says in the bag and I got him this morning.
- 51:47I was like, whoa, Well apparently you ail Mary. Yeah,
- 51:51well yeah, no, there's a lot of things that led up to that
- 51:53and this, well that's that's another another serve, another tack to Philampathy.
- 51:58Yeah, I aloys say. That word is if you take through the community,
- 52:00you should give back from the community and give and give, and a
- 52:05lot of people just can't make it and you need to give them a leg
- 52:07up. All right, Tony the Taylor, It's been a pleasure, my
