- 0:30welcome to wednesday night
- 0:32crossfit talk with carolyn
- 0:35prevo and myself how you
- 0:37doing carolyn not too bad
- 0:39just had dinner had a
- 0:41little um sorbet for
- 0:44dessert it's delicious uh
- 0:48did you buy it or did you
- 0:49make it I bought it at
- 0:52costco it like comes like
- 0:54in a fruit and you just
- 0:56like grab a spoon and just
- 0:57scoop it it's awesome
- 1:00there's recipes with my
- 1:01Ninja creamy that you can
- 1:02make sorbets with,
- 1:03like with fresh fruit and everything.
- 1:05I just haven't,
- 1:07I actually haven't even
- 1:07fired it up in probably a month.
- 1:10I bought a Ninja creamy
- 1:12maybe a year ago or a year
- 1:14and a half ago.
- 1:14And it's still in a box.
- 1:16I haven't even opened it.
- 1:17Lex wanted me to buy it.
- 1:19And I, I just haven't,
- 1:21I haven't even opened it.
- 1:23It's ready for,
- 1:25it's ready for her when she comes.
- 1:27It is, uh,
- 1:30It would be needed here in
- 1:31Dallas right now.
- 1:34It's pretty warm.
- 1:36But yeah.
- 1:37Aaron Fraser asks what my shirt says.
- 1:41It says WKRP in Cincinnati.
- 1:44And if you're old enough to
- 1:45know what this show,
- 1:48it was a TV show back in the day.
- 1:51But I like the way it looks
- 1:52like an old rock T-shirt.
- 1:56So, and it was one of my favorite shows.
- 2:00So we're here, Fort Worth, Texas,
- 2:04getting ready for the CrossFit Games.
- 2:06They start tomorrow morning, 7 a.m.
- 2:08local time.
- 2:10So that would be 5 a.m.
- 2:13for Carolyn.
- 2:14You'll be up for like three
- 2:15hours by that point.
- 2:17Yeah,
- 2:17I'm already going to be up at that point.
- 2:18So, yeah,
- 2:21I put all the times for like I've
- 2:23already converted
- 2:23everything for the whole day.
- 2:25So I'm ready to go tomorrow
- 2:26between the Olympics and the games.
- 2:29My day is full because it's my rest day.
- 2:32So it'll be good.
- 2:33Lots of sport watching.
- 2:37Speaking of the Olympics,
- 2:38my plane right now,
- 2:39American has where you can
- 2:41watch free TV on your
- 2:43iPhone or your phone.
- 2:44But my headphones were
- 2:46attached to my laptop,
- 2:47which was in my bag in the overhead.
- 2:50And I couldn't get them to detach.
- 2:52So I couldn't listen to
- 2:53whatever I was watching.
- 2:55So I had to watch the
- 2:56Olympics on closed caption and read
- 3:00all the stuff that was going
- 3:01on this afternoon.
- 3:03It was pretty funny.
- 3:04I've had to do that many times.
- 3:06If I forgot like my
- 3:07headphones or something and
- 3:08I didn't want to put it out,
- 3:09like the volume up super high.
- 3:12I just read the captions.
- 3:14Yeah.
- 3:16Yeah.
- 3:16Don't forget to like, and subscribe.
- 3:18That's why Lex is there.
- 3:19Like subscribe, hit that notifier.
- 3:22We're going to be going live a couple.
- 3:23I set up all the shows so
- 3:25you can go look and see
- 3:27when we're going live all weekend.
- 3:29We're going to do a wrap-up
- 3:30once a day and then our
- 3:32normal show on Sunday night.
- 3:36So we know the entire lineup for tomorrow.
- 3:42We've known event one is the Run-Swim.
- 3:48Let's talk favorites for
- 3:51these events for tomorrow.
- 3:52Yeah.
- 3:55Yeah.
- 3:57Go ahead.
- 3:59On the men's side,
- 4:00I'm looking at Brent Fikowski,
- 4:04James Sprague.
- 4:07Lazar normally does well in
- 4:09running and swimming.
- 4:11So I'd say those three.
- 4:12Someone like Ricky could
- 4:13probably have a good lead.
- 4:16However,
- 4:16I don't think he is the strongest
- 4:19swimmer as an Aussie.
- 4:20I think he's a good swimmer,
- 4:21but it just depends how
- 4:23much of a lead he can have offensively.
- 4:27with his running capacity.
- 4:31And if you're playing the Heat One app,
- 4:34it's a lot harder now.
- 4:35You can't just pick the winner.
- 4:37You have to pick from five
- 4:38different regions, I think it is,
- 4:41or four different regions.
- 4:43Did I pause or did you?
- 4:44Did I lose the internet or you?
- 4:50Yeah,
- 4:50the internet here has been off and on
- 4:53a lot all day.
- 4:55What was the last thing you heard from me?
- 4:58I heard everything.
- 4:58So I'm hearing everything from you.
- 5:02I just,
- 5:03I think you're not hearing me fast
- 5:04enough.
- 5:07Okay.
- 5:09Yeah.
- 5:09So those,
- 5:09those would be my pick on the
- 5:10men's side would, would be those three.
- 5:12I,
- 5:13I still think Jeff and Ricky can do well
- 5:16just because of, and I mean, yellow,
- 5:18I don't know his swimming capacity.
- 5:21Um, if he's a good swimmer,
- 5:22he could be in the mix as
- 5:23well in the top 10.
- 5:24Um,
- 5:26Yeah,
- 5:27I think the run's going to play a big
- 5:28factor,
- 5:28but you obviously need to be a
- 5:29good swimmer.
- 5:30On the female side, I mean,
- 5:32Tia is going to do great.
- 5:34Haley Adams should do well.
- 5:37Emily Rolfe is a strong
- 5:38swimmer and runner.
- 5:41Look for people like Grace
- 5:42Walton to possibly be up there.
- 5:44I'd say those are some solid picks.
- 5:52So I agree with everything you're saying.
- 5:55I think that as a dark horse pick,
- 6:02I think Jeff Adler is going
- 6:03to have a really good event one.
- 6:05I think people are going the
- 6:07Fikowski-James Sprague route,
- 6:09and I think that Jeff's
- 6:12going to have a great one.
- 6:14People are counting him out,
- 6:16and he won last year,
- 6:17and he's got something to prove.
- 6:20The other person that I think,
- 6:21I think Hattie Kenya is
- 6:22going to have a great event one.
- 6:26I know that when she was in Bali,
- 6:28swimming was part of her
- 6:29training a couple days a week.
- 6:32And she can run really well.
- 6:36Yeah,
- 6:36that'd be great for her to start the
- 6:38weekend off with a good event.
- 6:41Yeah,
- 6:42not saying she's going to beat Tia or
- 6:44Emily,
- 6:45but she's going to have a really good,
- 6:46really good day.
- 6:49I just think that three and
- 6:50a half miles of running is
- 6:52definitely substantial,
- 6:53and the good runners are
- 6:54going to get a good lead
- 6:56going into the water.
- 6:59Yeah.
- 7:01Yeah,
- 7:01if you look at Hattie in the berm run
- 7:03that took out the berm,
- 7:04she did really well in that
- 7:05at semifinals.
- 7:07And then I know that she swims a lot.
- 7:12So that's why I'm picking
- 7:14her as a dark horse.
- 7:15Yeah.
- 7:16Pringle's a great runner too.
- 7:17I don't know her swimming capacity.
- 7:19And she's got great endurance.
- 7:23So she could be another one
- 7:24to like a dark horse to,
- 7:26to watch in that event.
- 7:29Yeah, that's a great pick.
- 7:32So let's move on to event two.
- 7:36Event two was just announced today.
- 7:38I'm not even sure I
- 7:40understand the total lot, the,
- 7:47the order of it.
- 7:49So it's four rounds and they
- 7:53have the sledgehammer or
- 7:55like the hammer sledgehammer.
- 7:56And I mean, they don't even go like,
- 7:59it's a horrible technique
- 8:00that they're using.
- 8:00That's just straight up and
- 8:02down and then switching.
- 8:06And then they grab a light sandbag.
- 8:09That's like soft and like
- 8:11half full and they toss it
- 8:13over the tire and they can
- 8:14walk over the tire.
- 8:16to the other side.
- 8:17Actually, before they have to do that,
- 8:19they have to touch the ground.
- 8:21So you throw this sandbag,
- 8:24touch the ground,
- 8:25then you have to go over.
- 8:26The amount of people that
- 8:27are going to forget to
- 8:28touch the ground and go
- 8:30over the tire is going to be a lot.
- 8:33There's going to be a lot of
- 8:35no reps there or misjudge reps there.
- 8:39But that was something that was in
- 8:41the video that they had.
- 8:44And then there's so 14 reps
- 8:46of that and then five tire
- 8:50flips and then yeah, four rounds.
- 8:51So 50 hammers,
- 8:53which just looks embarrassing.
- 8:55It looks like we don't know
- 8:56how to do a sledgehammer
- 9:04because it's not even good technique.
- 9:07And you don't get rewarded for any power.
- 9:09Like I've done a lot of
- 9:10training with that with hockey.
- 9:12We used to do that all the
- 9:13time on the tires at Wisconsin.
- 9:16And I also did in CrossFit a little bit,
- 9:18but never like never a speed thing.
- 9:21It was more accessory.
- 9:22It's more for power building, precision,
- 9:24stuff like that.
- 9:25But like you're not getting
- 9:27rewarded for any good technique,
- 9:29any any power generated.
- 9:30You're just hitting the tire.
- 9:32It's going to bounce back
- 9:33and you just have to be
- 9:34quick to bring it above your head.
- 9:37It looks ridiculous.
- 9:39It looks embarrassing.
- 9:41Just look at the posture of
- 9:43the athletes demoing it.
- 9:46It looks dumb.
- 9:48Colton had a good flow going,
- 9:52but it still looks so... It
- 9:58looks so dumb.
- 10:00That's not even how you use it.
- 10:01So...
- 10:05When I heard hammer,
- 10:06I had just gotten off a
- 10:08plane and I thought that
- 10:09they were going to swing it
- 10:10like you showed like over the,
- 10:14and that I would have been
- 10:15fine with this.
- 10:18This would have, this thing is not that.
- 10:21And my comment to you was
- 10:23ain't nobody winning the
- 10:24stuffed teddy bear at the
- 10:26fair with the way they're
- 10:27swinging the hammer.
- 10:29No, they don't have to hit hard.
- 10:30They can just let it fall
- 10:32and then just re-grip.
- 10:34I mean,
- 10:34it's going to be hard because
- 10:36they're racing.
- 10:37And it's going to be grippy because,
- 10:39I mean, all three movements are grippy.
- 10:41The tire is very, very light.
- 10:43Like, when you flip tires, it's normally,
- 10:45like, 400 to 600 pounds.
- 10:49Like, maybe even more than that.
- 10:51This is 242 pounds.
- 10:52It's so light.
- 10:52Like, it just...
- 10:59you could, you could toss that, that tire,
- 11:02not like barely, like they weren't even,
- 11:04they weren't even using their knee.
- 11:05Normally when you do a tire flip,
- 11:07like you drive your knee and then you,
- 11:09you push it again.
- 11:11It's like the,
- 11:12the demo of it just looked
- 11:14like we didn't know how to flip a tire,
- 11:17which some people will be
- 11:18very good at the tire.
- 11:19I love the tire.
- 11:20Like, I think that's great.
- 11:22They should,
- 11:22they could have done like
- 11:23burpee jump in the tire,
- 11:25come back the other way and
- 11:26then had another implement.
- 11:28But,
- 11:29Like the sandbag toss just looks sloppy.
- 11:32The bag is sloppy, but it's okay.
- 11:35I just think people are
- 11:36going to miss that touch on
- 11:37the ground a lot.
- 11:44I don't hate any of the
- 11:45elements by themselves,
- 11:47but I hate the standards.
- 11:49I think that's a part I don't like.
- 11:53And Vi asks the question,
- 11:55why do you think they went
- 11:57with this standard over the
- 11:58swing behind the body?
- 12:01And she then follows it up with safety,
- 12:04maybe?
- 12:04I don't think it has to do with safety,
- 12:09but I think that's going to
- 12:11be the fastest way to do it.
- 12:12The power means nothing.
- 12:14Yeah.
- 12:16In the times that they've
- 12:17used a hammer or some sort of like sledge,
- 12:21they had to hit an object,
- 12:22whether it was a stake in the ground,
- 12:24which that's not even fair
- 12:25across all lanes,
- 12:27like what you're slamming into.
- 12:30or they had the assault
- 12:31banger where you're,
- 12:32you're hitting that thing
- 12:33either between your legs or to the side,
- 12:36but you're hitting an
- 12:37object and you're moving in
- 12:38a certain distance.
- 12:39Like there's no thing,
- 12:40like there's nothing that's
- 12:41being moved distance wise.
- 12:42You're just hitting,
- 12:44like there's not even a
- 12:45target that you have to hit
- 12:46the circle every time.
- 12:47So it measures precision.
- 12:49It's literally just above your head.
- 12:51Like,
- 12:52can you be hunched over the whole time?
- 12:54And just, I don't know the standard,
- 12:55I guess.
- 12:56Like if you have to stand up,
- 12:57then becomes a range of motion.
- 13:01And the smaller athletes
- 13:02could do maybe better over
- 13:0550 reps like that.
- 13:09Yeah, I just think it was,
- 13:11it's very interesting.
- 13:12Like I said, the sandbag toss over,
- 13:14it's okay.
- 13:18I'm not like,
- 13:19I don't think it's like the coolest thing,
- 13:20but I mean, it's fine.
- 13:22You still, you have to have, like,
- 13:23I like sandbag tosses and
- 13:25stuff like that.
- 13:26Like,
- 13:26I think that's athleticism stuff like
- 13:29we used to do.
- 13:31like med balls and throw
- 13:32them over our shoulder and
- 13:35like for distance and stuff like that.
- 13:37So don't have to toss it and
- 13:39be precise landing it on
- 13:41the other side of the tire,
- 13:44but just very interesting workout.
- 13:49Yeah.
- 13:50Sorry.
- 13:51I'm my,
- 13:52my grocery shopper is texting me
- 13:54that they're out of
- 13:55something I wanted trying
- 13:58to get groceries to the hotel room.
- 14:00Aaron Frazier says,
- 14:03it's the equivalent of running in place.
- 14:08It's a great training exercise.
- 14:13It's grippy.
- 14:14It gets tiring.
- 14:16I just don't think it has a
- 14:19place in competition.
- 14:22That's my thing.
- 14:23I don't think it's good in a
- 14:27sport for speed.
- 14:30If you're not moving a certain distance,
- 14:32something,
- 14:32if you're just like hitting
- 14:33something on the spot,
- 14:36the standard is very hard.
- 14:39Yeah.
- 14:40It might be a factor.
- 14:41Thinking about it.
- 14:42If you went behind the back,
- 14:44how do you judge that standard?
- 14:47Like, how do you, like,
- 14:47there's no way like,
- 14:51and so why not just show
- 14:52them the fastest way to do it?
- 14:53Cause everybody's going to do that anyway.
- 14:56Yeah.
- 14:56I mean,
- 14:57you would be dumb to do the correct way.
- 15:00because it would be slow and
- 15:02you'd be dumb to use all
- 15:03the power to go into the,
- 15:05into the tire because
- 15:06you're not getting any more points or any,
- 15:11any lead by hitting the tire any harder.
- 15:14And you're just going to be like,
- 15:17wasting your energy that way
- 15:19like at the end of the day
- 15:20it's still going to be
- 15:21exciting because all of us
- 15:23are fans of the sport and
- 15:25we're going to be excited
- 15:26to see the the races go
- 15:28down and you know position
- 15:31wise who's going to get the
- 15:32points but if you're
- 15:33showcasing our sport I just
- 15:35don't think that's it looks
- 15:37good like I'm I was
- 15:40embarrassed watching it
- 15:42yeah I lex asks if it's on
- 15:45espn I don't think it is
- 15:47I think Amanda's what's on ESPN,
- 15:52which Vi says as well.
- 15:54I think Amanda's a good one
- 15:55to have on ESPN.
- 15:57Amanda's a great workout on ESPN.
- 16:00The mixture of a gymnastics,
- 16:02like high-skill movement,
- 16:04like a ring muscle-up,
- 16:05and then the precision of a snatch.
- 16:08That's always been a great –
- 16:10Amanda's a great workout.
- 16:11This one,
- 16:12if they're going to be showing
- 16:13highlights of it on ESPN –
- 16:19Yeah.
- 16:21Yeah.
- 16:22Lex says,
- 16:23imagine that's someone's first
- 16:24workout they see of CrossFit.
- 16:29Everybody thinks all we do
- 16:30is swing sledgehammers into
- 16:31tires and flip them anyway.
- 16:34But if they think that's all
- 16:35the better we can do it,
- 16:37then that's not good.
- 16:40like it's a good workout.
- 16:42Like it would be a good workout to do on a,
- 16:44like, you know,
- 16:45on a weekend at your
- 16:45affiliate with people and you're just,
- 16:48you know, that's,
- 16:49you have a tire and you
- 16:51come up with a workout and
- 16:52it's just something you do.
- 16:53Great.
- 16:54At, for the test of the fittest on earth,
- 16:58like as that,
- 16:59like that's a test that was
- 17:01needed in our 12 or however
- 17:03many that they,
- 17:04that they're going to come up with.
- 17:05Like that's the test that we
- 17:07decide just determines the
- 17:09fittest on earth.
- 17:10Like,
- 17:13Yeah.
- 17:14I don't know.
- 17:15Yep.
- 17:17I agree.
- 17:18So then we finished up with Amanda,
- 17:20which we both agree is a great workout.
- 17:23It's Amanda 45.
- 17:25So it actually starts at 13
- 17:28instead of nine.
- 17:29The original Amanda was nine, five, three,
- 17:33nine, seven, five, nine, seven, five.
- 17:37This one is 13, 11, nine, seven, five.
- 17:38So yeah,
- 17:43That's a lot.
- 17:48I've heard elite athletes
- 17:49say that when you say, Amanda,
- 17:51it sounds like not a lot on paper,
- 17:52the original version, and when you do it,
- 17:55you're gassed at the end.
- 17:57Now you're adding two more
- 17:59rounds at the higher end.
- 18:01Does it change the pacing?
- 18:03That slows it down because
- 18:05the real original Amanda,
- 18:07it's unbroken on the barbell.
- 18:10Here with 13, 11...
- 18:12nine seven five you're not
- 18:13going unbroken on the
- 18:14barbell um you could do
- 18:17fast singles and then like
- 18:19the men are unbroken on the
- 18:21ring muscles um there could
- 18:23be a few women that could
- 18:24go unbroken on on the ring
- 18:26muscles I don't think many
- 18:27of them can but you can
- 18:29definitely see um some of
- 18:32them go on unbroken on all
- 18:33rounds um it'll it's a good
- 18:35workout yeah I like this one a lot
- 18:39I did it this year in
- 18:41February because I knew
- 18:43Amanda with some version of
- 18:44Amanda was coming this year.
- 18:45So I've been playing around
- 18:46with different versions of it.
- 18:49Yeah, it's a good one.
- 18:50I like it.
- 18:51Yeah,
- 18:52this is the one I'm most excited of
- 18:54for tomorrow.
- 18:57To see this in the new venue
- 18:59in the big with all the
- 19:01lights and all the and this
- 19:03to be the ESPN one.
- 19:04I think this is going to be fun to watch.
- 19:09Yeah, the venue looks great.
- 19:11I think they did a great job
- 19:13just with all the rigs and stuff.
- 19:16It looks really good.
- 19:18Yeah.
- 19:19So people asked about the media access.
- 19:20I still don't have my credentials yet.
- 19:23I have to go get them
- 19:24because when my plane came
- 19:26in and they changed some of
- 19:27the scheduling at the venue,
- 19:30I wasn't able to get there
- 19:31in time to pick up my credentials today.
- 19:34And then they were closing
- 19:35down the venue anyway for team briefings.
- 19:39and demos tonight.
- 19:41So we weren't even allowed
- 19:43in the building anyway.
- 19:46And they released all of the
- 19:49team workouts for tomorrow as well.
- 19:52Anything there of note?
- 19:54Because I haven't had time
- 19:55to look at that.
- 19:57So on the first event,
- 20:00it was posted earlier on
- 20:02their CrossFit Games page.
- 20:06So the team runs three and a half miles
- 20:08And then they'll paddle
- 20:10together 0.75 miles to the finish line.
- 20:14So a little bit longer on
- 20:16the water than the
- 20:17individuals who are half a
- 20:20mile in the water, which is 800 meters.
- 20:23So that's the first event, which, I mean,
- 20:27I think a lot of the teams
- 20:28have been practicing some
- 20:30version of running into a
- 20:32paddle after some of the
- 20:34clues have come up.
- 20:36come out and then also
- 20:37seeing the individual workout,
- 20:39you figured that it was
- 20:40going to be something similar.
- 20:41And sure enough, it is.
- 20:42Um, event number two is a deadlift ladder.
- 20:48Um, it's like a female, female pair,
- 20:51and then a male, male, um, paired.
- 20:54It's like a four minute
- 20:55AMRAP and the ladder goes higher.
- 20:59So it's like 20 reps.
- 21:01Let me just pull it up in my phone.
- 21:04Yeah, it's like 20 deadlifts at weight one,
- 21:0620 deadlifts at weight two,
- 21:08and then max deadlifts at weight three.
- 21:10And you're just going back
- 21:11and forth with your partner
- 21:14until the four minute time caps,
- 21:16which I mean, I love, of course.
- 21:20So the last weight for the
- 21:22barbell on the deadlift for
- 21:23the men is 425.
- 21:26And for the females, it's 305.
- 21:30So in the video that
- 21:32CrossFit Games posted,
- 21:34Colton was just ripping them out.
- 21:36Scott had a little bit more
- 21:39difficulty with the deadlifts,
- 21:42but Colton was just going after it.
- 21:47And then they'll rest two minutes.
- 21:50And then event number three
- 21:52is a relay style.
- 21:53So essentially the reps are all 30 total.
- 22:00But it's it's divided up
- 22:02differently between a ring
- 22:03muscle up and a clean and jerk.
- 22:06So the first athlete would
- 22:08go six ring muscle ups and
- 22:10or I'm assuming it's ring
- 22:12and 24 clean and jerk for time.
- 22:15And then the next athlete
- 22:16would go and their version
- 22:17would be 12 ring muscle ups
- 22:19and 18 clean and jerks at 135,
- 22:2395 as well.
- 22:23The weight stays the same.
- 22:25Athlete three would be 18
- 22:27ring muscle ups and 12 clean and jerks.
- 22:29And then the last one would
- 22:30be 24 clean or ring muscle
- 22:33ups and six clean and jerks.
- 22:36So most of the teams,
- 22:38I would assume their male
- 22:40athlete will be doing the
- 22:4324 ring muscle ups and the
- 22:4518 and seeing whether that
- 22:46athlete has that unbroken.
- 22:48And that weight on the
- 22:49barbell is light that it's a sprint.
- 22:52Like you're essentially
- 22:54going on broken on both
- 22:55movements and then you're tagging up.
- 22:58Like I expect almost all the,
- 23:00like all the top teams to
- 23:01be unbroken on this.
- 23:05So it could be a range of motion as well,
- 23:07but your grip is going to
- 23:08be a factor depending on
- 23:10the deadlift from the one before,
- 23:12if someone had to hold on
- 23:13and they have to go a little bit earlier,
- 23:15but I think it will be fine.
- 23:18My question to you is going to be,
- 23:20does that mean the females
- 23:21would go first and the
- 23:23males would finish up?
- 23:24And you answered that already.
- 23:28Unless you have someone,
- 23:29like a female athlete,
- 23:30that would have 18 ring
- 23:32muscle-ups unbroken.
- 23:35But I just... I think the
- 23:39round of 24 muscle-ups,
- 23:41you might see a break.
- 23:43But I think if you look at a
- 23:44team with Noah Olsen or...
- 23:47uh, Chandler, you know, Tola and them,
- 23:50like those athletes can do the 24,
- 23:52I'm assuming unbroken or in two sets.
- 23:56And then they only have six
- 23:57clean and jerks after at one 35,
- 24:00which is normal.
- 24:01Like it's only pretty,
- 24:03pretty much a touch and go.
- 24:05Um, so I think that's, I like that.
- 24:07That's an exciting,
- 24:08they're not doing the hammer tire stuff.
- 24:13So nice job.
- 24:18uh lex asks is the run roped
- 24:22I haven't seen if it was
- 24:24roped or not but I mean
- 24:26what benefit does it do to
- 24:29separate from your team if
- 24:31you gotta wait at the
- 24:33paddle anyways for all four
- 24:35members to get there um I
- 24:38would like for it to be
- 24:40roped and they're running
- 24:41together I like I like when
- 24:43they do that yeah
- 24:48I think it always looks
- 24:49better roped because then
- 24:51it's not – your score is
- 24:54just your worst runner.
- 24:56And I know that there's a finisher to this,
- 24:58but it just has that look.
- 25:02And so I like it when it's roped.
- 25:04And that's going to – and
- 25:07it's been happening like
- 25:08this for many years,
- 25:08but a lot of times your
- 25:09worst runner is a big
- 25:11factor at one of the events.
- 25:14Like I was talking to –
- 25:18what's his name?
- 25:19Um, Scuds is a boyfriend today and we were,
- 25:24and he was, yeah.
- 25:26Um,
- 25:26and he was saying that you can't hide a
- 25:29good runner or a bad runner anymore.
- 25:31Like you're always, you know,
- 25:33penalized for a bad runner,
- 25:35but if you have a bad lifter,
- 25:36a lot of times you can
- 25:37still make up for it with
- 25:39the other lifters,
- 25:39but you can't make up for the bad runner.
- 25:41And I was like, that's a good point that,
- 25:44you know, you, you're as fast as you're,
- 25:47As that runner.
- 25:49And then we talked about
- 25:51this earlier with the
- 25:51paddle and the
- 25:53synchronization that's
- 25:54going to happen and making
- 25:56sure that they're going straight.
- 25:58But I don't think the
- 25:59distance on the water is significant.
- 26:02I think a lot of it will get
- 26:05determined on the run.
- 26:07However, the beginning of the water,
- 26:09if there's a lot of paddles there,
- 26:11can get physical-ish, I'll say.
- 26:16Yeah,
- 26:16my guess is the teams that are
- 26:18together a lot, like the top teams,
- 26:21like Peak360 and the Mayhem teams,
- 26:24and they're not going to
- 26:26have a problem with the synchronization.
- 26:28But I'm thinking that first heat,
- 26:29you might see some train wrecks.
- 26:33Just if you haven't paddled a lot,
- 26:36there is a technique to it.
- 26:37And there is like,
- 26:39you want to reach the same
- 26:41depth in the water.
- 26:42You want to have the same
- 26:43angle on the paddle.
- 26:46or whatever your paddling turn,
- 26:48and go not straight.
- 26:50So I think it's more likely
- 26:53in the earlier heats,
- 26:55but just because those top
- 26:57teams have spent the whole year together.
- 27:00Will it just be one heat, though?
- 27:03It could just be one large heat.
- 27:05Or maybe, you know,
- 27:09difference of 10 minutes
- 27:10just so that when they get
- 27:11to the water it's not as
- 27:13scrambled um yeah but it
- 27:17looks like they have to
- 27:18stay on their like on their
- 27:19knees and they're not able
- 27:20to stand up on the paddle
- 27:22board from what the demo
- 27:23team demonstrated on dave's
- 27:27story a few days ago yeah
- 27:30the last thing I wanted to
- 27:31talk about um and I just
- 27:33want to take the last
- 27:34couple minutes to do that is
- 27:37If you didn't see the press
- 27:38conference that had today,
- 27:40I've said a lot of things
- 27:43that I didn't like that
- 27:44CrossFit has been doing.
- 27:46I thought the press
- 27:47conference they handled
- 27:48today was excellent.
- 27:50And what they did in it was excellent.
- 27:54They had all the home state
- 27:55athletes talk about what it
- 27:57means for the games to come
- 27:59to their home state.
- 28:01Don Fall spoke.
- 28:02There were executives there.
- 28:04And then they had a level
- 28:05one seminar staff member.
- 28:09show a class to the press,
- 28:12like what it looks like to
- 28:14do a CrossFit class.
- 28:17And I thought that was brilliant.
- 28:21I missed it.
- 28:21And that sounds awesome.
- 28:23That, that that's,
- 28:25and I did see like a
- 28:27picture of Don fall and the
- 28:29Texas native three athletes that I saw.
- 28:32It was Ariel and,
- 28:35Domet and Bethany.
- 28:39And I was like, oh,
- 28:39that's great that they
- 28:40included the hometown or home state,
- 28:46I should say, athletes.
- 28:48But yeah, that's great.
- 28:51Yeah.
- 28:52They took 30 minutes to hold
- 28:54a simulated class to show
- 28:57the press what a CrossFit
- 28:59class looks like.
- 29:01And
- 29:02that is the best thing I've
- 29:03seen in a press conference
- 29:05since I became part of the
- 29:06media five years ago.
- 29:08So, um, I want to give them kudos to that,
- 29:12uh, huge shout out.
- 29:13Cause I think that was an
- 29:15excellent idea and they
- 29:16should be applauded for that.
- 29:20Absolutely.
- 29:23Um,
- 29:23Lex jumps in again with who do we think
- 29:25will be the men's and
- 29:26women's leader after day one?
- 29:33I think on the men's side,
- 29:34you're going to see Ricky
- 29:35in the lead after day one.
- 29:36I think he's going to have a
- 29:38great first event.
- 29:39His second event,
- 29:40I have no idea what's going to happen,
- 29:41but he is not super tall,
- 29:43and he's very athletic.
- 29:45He's one of the more
- 29:46athletic ones in the field.
- 29:47He should do well in number two,
- 29:48and he's going to crush Amanda.
- 29:51And then on the female side,
- 29:52I don't think you can go
- 29:53with anyone but Tia.
- 30:04Dang.
- 30:05I want to say somebody other than Tia.
- 30:10I think that event one,
- 30:12she's going to win or come
- 30:13in second at worst.
- 30:16So that gives her an advantage.
- 30:23If you want to pick someone else,
- 30:25I would go with Emma Lawson.
- 30:27I'm going to go Alexis Raptus.
- 30:32I think two and three are
- 30:33going to be good for her.
- 30:34I know she's been swinging a
- 30:37sandbag a lot this year.
- 30:40And so that little fluffy
- 30:43one that they have to do an event to,
- 30:44she's going to toss around.
- 30:46I think two and three are
- 30:48going to be really, really good for her.
- 30:51If she can have a solid
- 30:53finish in event one.
- 30:56I think she should be good in it.
- 30:58She's a great runner.
- 31:00Her swimming should be good.
- 31:03I don't know if she'll finish top five.
- 31:05I think that there's
- 31:06stronger swimmers in the
- 31:08field than Alexis.
- 31:10That's why if I were to go outside of Tia,
- 31:12I would go with Emma Lawson,
- 31:14who's a great swimmer and runner.
- 31:15I think she can do well on the sledge one.
- 31:19I think that she moves well
- 31:21Like we saw in the box jump
- 31:22overs last year at the games,
- 31:23how much she dominated just
- 31:25the box jump overs there.
- 31:27And then she almost always
- 31:29wins ring muscle-up
- 31:30workouts traditionally.
- 31:32She's done it at Rogue.
- 31:33She's done it at semifinals a lot.
- 31:36So I think Emma could have a
- 31:38great day one.
- 31:39If you want to go with
- 31:40someone other than Tia,
- 31:43she'll be up there.
- 31:46So I'm going to take a flyer on –
- 31:50I think your, your picks are solid.
- 31:52I, because I don't,
- 31:54Ricky is so good at almost
- 31:55all of this other than the swim.
- 31:58Um,
- 32:00I'm going to take a flyer and go with
- 32:04Pat Valder.
- 32:05I know he can't swim.
- 32:07It's not a long part of that workout.
- 32:10Can he get a big,
- 32:11just enough lead to make it solid?
- 32:14He is awesome at muscle ups.
- 32:16He'll kill Amanda's too.
- 32:17Um,
- 32:19And that mid that second one
- 32:21is nothing for him.
- 32:23I think he's going to do great.
- 32:24And number two,
- 32:25he grew up with a lacrosse
- 32:26stick in his hand.
- 32:27If someone is very agile
- 32:28with both sides of like a
- 32:31stick and something like in
- 32:33his hand in that position,
- 32:34it's literally Pat Donner
- 32:36as a lacrosse player.
- 32:37So I do think with his,
- 32:40with his athleticism,
- 32:41he adapts very well to
- 32:44workouts at the games that
- 32:45are new to people.
- 32:47Um, he will do very well in two and three.
- 32:49He's a good runner.
- 32:50I think he is better on the
- 32:54swim than what people give
- 32:55him credit for.
- 32:56I think he'll do, um,
- 32:58middle of the pack there
- 33:00and then great event two
- 33:02and three that he's going
- 33:03to be all the way up.
- 33:05I don't know if he'll be in first,
- 33:06but he'll be, you know,
- 33:08well within the top 10 after,
- 33:09after the first day.
- 33:12Alexis Lazar and Justin will
- 33:14have a good day.
- 33:15One, two, Justin will kill day one.
- 33:20So he'll probably be right
- 33:21there behind Ricky.
- 33:23It'll probably be Ricky, Justin, Pat.
- 33:30We'll go with that.
- 33:35I like that.
- 33:37Like right now,
- 33:39all of these workouts that are out,
- 33:41like Roman, I don't see him as high as
- 33:48jeff ricky and pat for what
- 33:50we've known so far on these
- 33:52events um on multiple days
- 33:56I could be wrong but I it
- 33:58just seems to be good
- 34:01workouts right now for more
- 34:03more other people than him
- 34:05correct me if I'm wrong we
- 34:08haven't seen a machine
- 34:09announced not yet uh
- 34:15Yes, skiered in the rope with GHD.
- 34:20Like that has Justin
- 34:21Medeiros written all over it,
- 34:23Pat Vellner.
- 34:24Roman can do well as well too,
- 34:25but normally I would think
- 34:27Justin Pat would do well on
- 34:30that rope climb workout.
- 34:36Andrew Stent says,
- 34:36I want to see if Justin and
- 34:37Lazar still have any beef from last year.
- 34:45I saw Lazar say that he has no beef,
- 34:48that they squashed it
- 34:50pretty soon after the games.
- 34:53Yeah,
- 34:53I think it's in the heat of the moment.
- 34:54They're competitive.
- 34:56It's well in the rearview mirror now.
- 35:02They're not thinking about that.
- 35:06So my last question for you is,
- 35:08is the Family Watch and Family Feud
- 35:11One hundred percent.
- 35:13I'm trying to mute in between,
- 35:15but I know you can probably hear it.
- 35:17Yeah, I know my game shows.
- 35:22I grew up with them,
- 35:23my family that we watch
- 35:25them all the time.
- 35:25So, yeah, love a good family feud.
- 35:30Well,
- 35:31this is our preview for event for day
- 35:33one.
- 35:35I'll be over at the venue tomorrow.
- 35:36We'll we'll be doing our show.
- 35:38I think I'm.
- 35:39I think we scheduled that
- 35:40I'm going to be live at the
- 35:42venue right as everything ends, I think.
- 35:47Yeah,
- 35:47so tomorrow we're going to be live at
- 35:506 p.m.
- 35:53Pacific time, 8 p.m.
- 35:56Central time, 9 p.m.
- 35:57Eastern time.
- 36:00That's correct.
- 36:03So make sure you check in for that.
- 36:05If anything crazy happens,
- 36:07maybe we'll jump on an IG
- 36:09Live tomorrow afternoon.
- 36:10So watch for that as well.
- 36:13Those will be our quick
- 36:14hitters if we need them for
- 36:16the full wrap-up shows.
- 36:17We'll be doing them here on
- 36:18YouTube with that, guys.
- 36:20Thank you so much for joining us tonight.
- 36:24Have fun on Games Week.
- 36:26We're starting tomorrow morning, 7 a.m.
- 36:28local time.
- 36:29Get your picks in.
- 36:31Yeah, he won't try to beat us.
- 36:34I need to get my losing
- 36:36lineup in against Lex.
- 36:39With that, bye, guys.
- 36:41We'll see everybody next time.
