- 3:03news, former Boston Police Superintendent Marcus
- 3:07Eddings is suing the department and Commissioner
- 3:10Michael Cox. claiming an illegal demotion after
- 3:13uncovering fraudulent paid details. Eddings,
- 3:17who has served in the department since June 1996,
- 3:21filed his lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court,
- 3:24alleging violations of the Massachusetts Whistleblower
- 3:27Act and economic harm from his removal. He was
- 3:31promoted to superintendent in 2019 before Cox's
- 3:35appointment, but was demoted to deputy superintendent
- 3:38in 2024. Addings claims he discovered numerous
- 3:43violations of fraud involving officers, which
- 3:45he reported, but was told to stop his investigations
- 3:48to protect the department's reputation. The lawsuit
- 3:52seeks a jury trial and compensation for lost
- 3:55income and attorney's fees, as well as reinstatement
- 3:59to his former position. Now onto sports. The
- 4:08college football transfer portal is open through
- 4:10Friday, but we already see winners and losers
- 4:13in the January window. The Texas Tech Red Raiders
- 4:17have added quarterback Brendan Soarsby on an
- 4:20NIL deal worth a reported $5 million, while the
- 4:23Texas Longhorns secured wide receiver Kam Coleman
- 4:26and running back Raleigh Brown. The Louisville
- 4:30Cardinals signed quarterback Lincoln Kienholz
- 4:33and retained dynamic running back Isaac Brown.
- 4:36The Indiana Hoosiers added quarterback Josh Hoover
- 4:40and bolstered their defense. However, the Iowa
- 4:44State Cyclones, Utah Utes, and Alabama Crimson
- 4:47Tide faced significant roster challenges heading
- 4:50into 2026. Tennessee volunteers are struggling
- 4:55at quarterback despite improving their defense.
- 4:59In local sports, The Red Sox finally signed a
- 5:03free agent, becoming the last team to do so this
- 5:06winter. And surprisingly, they pivoted to starting
- 5:10pitcher Rangers Foras, signing him for five years
- 5:13and $130 million. This signing reflects both
- 5:18a strong commitment and a commentary on the state
- 5:21of starting pitching. Schweres is an athletic
- 5:25pitcher with clean mechanics and a big game pedigree.
- 5:28despite never throwing more than 160 innings
- 5:32in a season. His postseason performance shows
- 5:35he can thrive under pressure, boasting a 1 .48
- 5:39earned run average in 42 and two -thirds postseason
- 5:43innings. In top news, prediction markets are
- 5:49the bull new frontier in online betting, where

- 5:59and Polymarket are leading platforms, with Kalshi's
- 6:04transaction volume skyrocketing by around 1 ,680
- 6:08% last year. These markets are not classified
- 6:12as traditional gambling and operate legally even
- 6:15in states where gambling is banned. They have
- 6:19created a multi -billion dollar industry without
- 6:21regular protections for gamblers. However, their
- 6:25accuracy depends on user knowledge, raising concerns
- 6:29over potential manipulation and exploitation.
- 6:32As one CEO stated, the vision is to financialize
- 6:36everything. In business news, Amazon is now refunding
- 6:43customers up to $51 after its $2 .5 billion dollar

- 6:51Trade Commission includes a provision for $1

- 8:31back to the show. Let's talk tech. A California
- 8:37lawmaker is pushing to ban toys with artificial
- 8:40intelligence chatbot capabilities. California
- 8:43State Senator Steve Padilla is setting the stage
- 8:46for a potential first state -level crackdown
- 8:49on such toys. Concerns arise over security risks,
- 8:53privacy, and children's exposure to harmful content.
- 8:58Recent cases of non -toy chatbots interacting
- 9:00with children have led to tragic outcomes, prompting
- 9:04congressional hearings. Padilla introduced Senate
- 9:07Bill 867, proposing a four -year moratorium on
- 9:11toys with these features for kids under 12. He
- 9:15emphasizes the need for reasonable guardrails
- 9:17to protect young children from harm. The bill
- 9:20must advance through California's legislative
- 9:23process this year. And in entertainment news,
- 9:30Idris Elba's Hijack Season 2 has derailed the
- 9:34entire franchise, according to critics. In the
- 9:38first season, Elba's character, Sam Nelson, navigated
- 9:42a hijacked flight. showcasing his charisma and
- 9:45tension. However, the second season finds Sam
- 9:49in a different hostage situation, lacking the
- 9:52brilliance of its predecessor. Set in Berlin,
- 9:55two years later, Sam appears exhausted and uncertain,
- 9:59which puts viewers on edge. The narrative shifts
- 10:03focus to various characters amid a train crisis,
- 10:06but fails to maintain a streamlined storyline.
- 10:10Despite intriguing themes, it lacks the intensity
- 10:13that made Season 1 captivating. The season premiered
- 10:17on January 14th on Apple TV. Well, all righty,
