- 0:00Speaker 1: Guess who? It's 10 o'clock.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Do you care where your parents are?
- 0:04Speaker 1: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:06Speaker 1: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:10Speaker 1: and parental discretion is advised. Emergency alert. Defense Corps forces
- 0:23Speaker 1: reported just moments ago.
- 0:25Speaker 3: This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not the drill.
- 0:29Speaker 1: At this time, we are requesting the immediate and orderly
- 0:33Speaker 1: evacuation of the vicinity. The Coast Guard and the Navy
- 0:37Speaker 1: have been alerted and are standing by on Eastern Sea.
- 0:40Speaker 4: And it continues to burn out of control.
- 0:43Speaker 3: It has been regular.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy
- 0:47Speaker 4: of units, fire companies, paramedics.
- 0:50Speaker 5: A citywide emergency has been declared.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Police officers are still on tactical full alert.
- 0:56Speaker 6: 2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by. Air defense warning read.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We're doomed!
- 1:02Speaker 6: It's time for Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack.
- 1:08Speaker 7: The live transmission has begun, and we're into the final
- 1:12Speaker 7: hour of hell. What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown's
- 1:34Speaker 7: Attack of the Killers soundtrack. I am Brian, and joining
- 1:38Speaker 7: me this week, special guest Brian.
- 1:40Speaker 8: Oh, damn it. It's another one of those Brian and
- 1:42Speaker 8: Brian episodes.
- 1:43Speaker 7: We both have Ys. I know, we don't even spell it.
- 1:47Speaker 7: We both spell it right. I mean, that's arguable, I suppose,
- 1:50Speaker 7: but You.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Can refer to me as Captain Pepe if you would like.
- 1:54Speaker 8: Maybe not. I don't know.
- 1:58Speaker 7: I've noticed you listed as that. How devoted to that
- 2:01Speaker 7: are you?
- 2:02Speaker 4: It's just kind of like a stage name. Not very.
- 2:04Speaker 4: It's been on name tags before.
- 2:05Speaker 8: You don't ask family members to call you that?
- 2:08Speaker 9: It is also underneath my name on Facebook, so it's pretty, yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 7: Well, I guess tell people your for real name, and
- 2:16Speaker 7: then if you want, you can tell them awesome band
- 2:19Speaker 7: information or whatever you'd like.
- 2:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I play in Tsunami Samurai. We do instrumental surf.
- 2:26Speaker 9: We have a CD release party on August 25th at
- 2:31Speaker 9: the Zanza Bar.
- 2:33Speaker 8: And it's going out to the world.
- 2:35Speaker 7: So assuming you're not here in sunny Louisville, Kentucky, not
- 2:39Speaker 7: so much at the moment, I'm sure people can find
- 2:42Speaker 7: you on the internet.
- 2:42Speaker 8: So is there a way to get music directly?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:45Speaker 4: We have the Facebook page.
- 2:47Speaker 9: We have an old Reverb Nation page still also. And
- 2:51Speaker 9: as of the CD coming out, we should have either
- 2:54Speaker 9: a Bandcamp or SoundCloud, one or the other.
- 2:57Speaker 8: Nice, nice.
- 2:58Speaker 9: But the easiest way to find information is through the
- 3:00Speaker 9: Facebook page as of right now.
- 3:02Speaker 7: All right.
- 3:03Speaker 8: So there you are. Special guest, Brian Hamilton. Captain, if
- 3:09Speaker 8: you will.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So.
- 3:11Speaker 8: Yeah, here we are, right in the middle of Fourcastle.
- 3:14Speaker 7: Once again, I've made it an annual tradition now to
- 3:18Speaker 7: come out here and, whether people like it or not,
- 3:20Speaker 7: do an episode live from Fourcastle.
- 3:23Speaker 4: How many years has this been, Brian?
- 3:24Speaker 8: I've lost count.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 3:26Speaker 7: This has got to be six at least. I mean,
- 3:29Speaker 7: I've been coming since they started, I think. I went
- 3:33Speaker 7: to that one that was maybe the second year when
- 3:35Speaker 7: it was in Tyler Park, and it was just literally
- 3:38Speaker 7: like one dude with an acoustic guitar next to the
- 3:40Speaker 7: tunnel there. And then they had some art on a
- 3:42Speaker 7: tree or something. It was so grassroots. It's ridiculous to.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Look at this now. Look around you.
- 3:49Speaker 7: The multiple stage. The massive amount of people running this operation.
- 3:54Speaker 7: And yeah, it was like a dude with a guitar
- 3:56Speaker 7: in the park. So having watched it grown into this
- 4:01Speaker 7: crazy thing over the years, it's pretty amazing. So I'm
- 4:05Speaker 7: kind of glad to shove myself in the middle.
- 4:06Speaker 8: Of it every year.
- 4:07Speaker 10: Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 9: This is only my second full forecastle, and I did
- 4:12Speaker 9: another one on a Sunday only for Weezer. So the
- 4:15Speaker 9: previous one, I don't even know if I can say
- 4:17Speaker 9: what year it was.
- 4:18Speaker 4: It was the Outcast year. Outcast back... Yeah, I was
- 4:21Speaker 4: here then.
- 4:22Speaker 9: I think Slint got back together for it. Yeah, right
- 4:25Speaker 9: over there under that overpass. We're sitting very close to
- 4:29Speaker 9: the Slint reunion.
- 4:30Speaker 4: It was really good.
- 4:31Speaker 8: Yeah, it was a pretty good year. And if you
- 4:34Speaker 8: listen real close in the background, you can hear friends
- 4:37Speaker 8: of the show... Houndmouth. They have been on.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 4:41Speaker 7: I've seen them here, I think, every year they've played.
- 4:44Speaker 7: They've played many times over the years. But, yeah, this
- 4:47Speaker 7: is another return performance on the big stage. So, Houndmouth
- 4:51Speaker 7: hanging out right now on stage.
- 4:54Speaker 8: So, how's it going?
- 4:57Speaker 4: Pretty good. I'm glad that it's cooled off now.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Yeah, this has been definitely a hotter year than some.
- 5:05Speaker 7: But for everybody that were slackers and were like, I'm
- 5:08Speaker 7: staying home.
- 5:08Speaker 8: It's too hot today.
- 5:09Speaker 7: There's a weird overcast that kicked in pretty early that
- 5:14Speaker 7: it's really comfortable now.
- 5:15Speaker 4: So, suckers. You missed out. Yeah.
- 5:18Speaker 9: I didn't know if Modest Mouse was going to make
- 5:20Speaker 9: it through their set last night. I thought his face
- 5:23Speaker 9: was literally going to melt off.
- 5:25Speaker 8: He was kind of a slacker, I got to say.
- 5:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 8: He messed up his own song, Midway In. That was funny.
- 5:31Speaker 7: But then, like, the guys I was with last night were, like,
- 5:35Speaker 7: super into Modest Mouse.
- 5:36Speaker 8: And even they were calling him out. They were like, dude,
- 5:38Speaker 8: he didn't even do an encore.
- 5:39Speaker 4: What a lame....
- 5:42Speaker 8: So, like, when his own fans were calling him out,
- 5:44Speaker 8: I was like, well, all right.
- 5:46Speaker 4: I think it was the heat. I think it made
- 5:48Speaker 4: him forget things. I don't think he's used to this humid.
- 5:53Speaker 8: The heat makes you crazy.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Bowl that he was setting in. That's true, yeah. Even
- 5:57Speaker 4: if the air just moved just a little bit, it
- 5:59Speaker 4: would have helped so much.
- 6:01Speaker 8: Yeah, last night we didn't have it. There's a good
- 6:02Speaker 8: breeze going now. We did not have that last night.
- 6:05Speaker 4: There was no breeze. I know that they have nice
- 6:07Speaker 4: fans on stage.
- 6:08Speaker 9: It seems like they should have some more hurricane force
- 6:12Speaker 9: winds up there.
- 6:12Speaker 8: They were just like, you guys tough it out like
- 6:14Speaker 8: the rest of us.
- 6:15Speaker 4: It looked pretty still. I've seen Modest Mouse two other times.
- 6:20Speaker 4: All right. Both times I saw them was in 2002.
- 6:23Speaker 4: That's a ways back?
- 6:25Speaker 9: And they were within about seven weeks of each other,
- 6:29Speaker 9: if I'm not mistaken. And I saw them at the
- 6:32Speaker 9: Fox in Atlanta. And it was a double headliner, Modest
- 6:39Speaker 9: Mouse and Built to Spill.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Nice.
- 6:42Speaker 9: And they rotated headlining nights. And when I saw them
- 6:44Speaker 9: the night that Built to Spill headlined, And I did
- 6:48Speaker 9: not care for Modest Mouse that much. I got about
- 6:51Speaker 9: seven songs into it, and I was kind of done
- 6:53Speaker 9: and ready for them to be finished.
- 6:55Speaker 4: And Built to Spill rolled. It was great. It was wonderful.
- 7:00Speaker 4: And then within a few months of that, they both
- 7:02Speaker 4: came individually to a smaller club in Athens called The
- 7:06Speaker 4: 40 Watt. And those two times, Modest Mouse was incredible.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Loved it.
- 7:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Built to Spill was not that great.
- 7:17Speaker 9: So I don't know if it's like when you catch
- 7:18Speaker 9: somebody or the mood I was in at the time
- 7:21Speaker 9: or if Modest Malice, I guess they are somewhat of
- 7:23Speaker 9: an acquired taste.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Maybe it took me that long to get used to
- 7:26Speaker 4: the modest spices.
- 7:29Speaker 7: Yeah, when they took off on the radio, I was
- 7:30Speaker 7: just kind of like, even then I was sort of like, huh,
- 7:33Speaker 7: this is really different. Like I'm surprised it got as
- 7:35Speaker 7: popular on like pop radio as they did because some
- 7:39Speaker 7: of their stuff is very unconventional.
- 7:40Speaker 8: I was just like, that's, Not what happens normally on
- 7:43Speaker 8: cheesy pop radio. So it's weird that they broke through
- 7:46Speaker 8: the way they did.
- 7:46Speaker 4: You know it's them when you hear it, though.
- 7:47Speaker 8: Yeah, oh, definitely. They are distinctive.
- 7:50Speaker 7: And with that buildup, I think that's how we should
- 7:53Speaker 7: kick off our music tracks this time around. So that's
- 7:56Speaker 7: become the game for me, is assuming we don't lure
- 8:00Speaker 7: in a wonderful guest.
- 8:00Speaker 8: Like last year, Repeat Repeat was awesome, so go find them.
- 8:03Speaker 7: But yeah, if not, if we don't have any other
- 8:07Speaker 7: focal point, I like that, okay, my job is to
- 8:10Speaker 7: assemble our own little makeshift Frankenstein soundtrack from bands who
- 8:15Speaker 7: are here this weekend and then what soundtracks they've ended
- 8:19Speaker 7: up on over the years.
- 8:20Speaker 4: So they're still all.
- 8:21Speaker 8: Movie related and yet they still tie to everybody.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Who's here this weekend.
- 8:25Speaker 8: It's a fun game and I force myself to play
- 8:28Speaker 8: it every year.
- 8:29Speaker 7: So this time we'll kick it off with Gravity Rides
- 8:33Speaker 7: Everything by Modest Mouse from the 2006 Accepted soundtrack.
- 8:39Speaker 8: We all remember that classic. Except it.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Oh, gotta see, gotta know right now What's that writing
- 8:49Speaker 1: on your everything?
- 9:06Speaker 11: It isn't anything at all Oh, gotta see, gotta know
- 9:15Speaker 11: right now What's that writing on your shelf? In the
- 9:23Speaker 11: bathrooms and the bad motels.
- 9:26Speaker 12: No one really caring for it.
- 9:29Speaker 1: At all Nothing grabbed a plant Early, early in the
- 9:40Speaker 1: morning It blows all alone down my surface I want
- 9:43Speaker 1: to go back to sleep.
- 9:45Speaker 12: Emotions I want to.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Go back to sleep.
- 9:57Speaker 11: Emotions and the things that you say. It all will fall,
- 10:05Speaker 11: fall right into place.
- 10:07Speaker 12: As fruit drops, flesh and saints. Everything will fall right
- 10:15Speaker 12: into place. When we die, some sink and some lay.
- 10:21Speaker 12: But at least I don't.
- 10:24Speaker 11: See you float away.
- 10:25Speaker 12: I don't smell milk, sex and weight.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It all will fall, fall right into place. Oh, gotta see,
- 10:44Speaker 1: gotta know right now.
- 10:46Speaker 11: What's that lighting on your everything?
- 10:48Speaker 1: It isn't anything at all Early, early in the morning
- 10:51Speaker 1: It goes out, come down, my sorry I won't go.
- 11:16Speaker 8: Back to sleep.
- 11:23Speaker 12: In the motions In the things that.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You say It all will fall Fall right into place As.
- 11:31Speaker 12: Fruit drops Flash in sight Everything will Fall right into
- 11:39Speaker 12: place When we die Some sick and some.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Lame, but at least I don't see you floating away.
- 12:21Speaker 7: Yeah, Justin Long fans right now are just like, of
- 12:24Speaker 7: course I remember Accepted.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Exactly. Brian, I don't remember Accepted.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Nobody does.
- 12:31Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 12:33Speaker 8: But yeah, and again, that to me is.
- 12:35Speaker 4: It sounds familiar.
- 12:37Speaker 8: If you saw the trailer, you'd.
- 12:37Speaker 7: Be like, oh, it's another one of those loser kids
- 12:40Speaker 7: that can't get into school finding a way to fake
- 12:42Speaker 7: their way into school. There was another one like 10
- 12:45Speaker 7: years before that that had like... What was that one called?
- 12:48Speaker 7: It had like Scarlett Johansson... and Chris Evans before they
- 12:51Speaker 7: were superheroes. And like, yeah, there's another one there where
- 12:53Speaker 7: they're like trying to sneak into a school and steal
- 12:56Speaker 7: the test or something where this one, I was watching
- 12:58Speaker 7: the trailer early and like, this one is like Justin
- 13:00Speaker 7: Long and a not Oscar nominated. Um, what's the dude from, uh,
- 13:07Speaker 7: from super bad. This is why I try not to
- 13:11Speaker 7: work from memory anymore. My brain doesn't work, but yeah.
- 13:16Speaker 7: So a young Justin Long tries to, uh, fake his
- 13:19Speaker 7: way since he like can't get into a good school
- 13:22Speaker 7: they like pretend to create a school and then set
- 13:27Speaker 7: up their which is always like one of my favorite
- 13:29Speaker 7: like old SNL skits where they like make a school
- 13:32Speaker 7: that you can just give them money to give you
- 13:33Speaker 7: a there is no school there's like it's a facade
- 13:37Speaker 7: built by like a set from a play or something
- 13:40Speaker 7: for them to do like the brochure shots and then
- 13:43Speaker 7: you convince your parents to send money in and then
- 13:45Speaker 7: they'll send you a diploma and And all you have
- 13:47Speaker 7: to do is show up on Parents' Day once a year.
- 13:49Speaker 8: Other than that, you're free to go do whatever you
- 13:51Speaker 8: want for the rest of the year. And then four
- 13:53Speaker 8: years later, you get your diploma.
- 13:55Speaker 7: So I'm assuming they saw that skit and went, let's
- 13:58Speaker 7: just make a movie out of it.
- 14:00Speaker 8: So Accepted was born.
- 14:02Speaker 6: This is the act of a desperate, wildly unrealistic person.
- 14:05Speaker 4: All right. What have we got next?
- 14:07Speaker 8: Next up, let's see what else we've got on our
- 14:09Speaker 8: lineup this week.
- 14:12Speaker 4: All right.
- 14:12Speaker 8: We also last night had Lucero.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yes yeah uh played a great set which.
- 14:18Speaker 7: Yeah they're they're another one of those that have done
- 14:20Speaker 7: a lot of interesting stuff and stuff that is weird
- 14:24Speaker 7: that they kind of bumped up to the point they
- 14:26Speaker 7: did because they're not a conventional band either so uh
- 14:30Speaker 7: this one they had a couple of tracks on the
- 14:32Speaker 7: mud soundtrack so this is everything you need by lucero.
- 14:41Speaker 13: Queen of hearts, she's on mine Waiting on a jack
- 14:45Speaker 13: of diamonds Come on, girl, take my hand Always good
- 14:49Speaker 13: luck with it, nightingale We're gonna make it down the
- 14:53Speaker 13: line One more hand, the game.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Is mine Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh But you're running
- 15:00Speaker 1: out of time.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Catch the bank.
- 15:47Speaker 3: So desensitized by movies and television.
- 15:50Speaker 1: So.
- 15:51Speaker 8: Here's something I want to ask you.
- 15:53Speaker 7: Because as I ran into you this weekend, you mentioned
- 15:56Speaker 7: you were here with your 13-year-old son.
- 15:58Speaker 9: Yes.
- 15:59Speaker 7: And it is a weird question because I know it's
- 16:03Speaker 7: a very different world than when I was growing up
- 16:05Speaker 7: and when you were growing up. And specifically, pop culture
- 16:08Speaker 7: and music and movies and all of it is consumed
- 16:12Speaker 7: and treated really differently now.
- 16:14Speaker 8: So... looking at the bill this year, I'm like, there's,
- 16:17Speaker 8: you know, we've got.
- 16:18Speaker 7: Modest mouse who you, you were naming the years you
- 16:20Speaker 7: saw them in and they were well established by then.
- 16:23Speaker 8: I came here today and I'm like, yeah, I like
- 16:25Speaker 8: Jimmy Eat World. And I'm just like, are there 13
- 16:27Speaker 8: year old kids that care about Jimmy Eat World? Like I,
- 16:30Speaker 8: cause on stage, I think he said they've been together
- 16:32Speaker 8: for 23 years.
- 16:34Speaker 4: And that they had stayed active.
- 16:35Speaker 8: And yeah. And I was just like, that's awesome for them.
- 16:39Speaker 7: But I was just like, it's like, I know I,
- 16:42Speaker 7: think that song is awesome and it still amazes me
- 16:45Speaker 7: how regular i hear in the middle on the radio
- 16:48Speaker 7: like they play it all the time so i hope
- 16:50Speaker 7: they got a good residual deal because those guys like
- 16:53Speaker 7: they are still playing the middle like really regular on
- 16:56Speaker 7: the radio.
- 16:57Speaker 8: So, yeah, I just kind of wondered what kids are thinking.
- 17:01Speaker 9: He knows it the same way I would have known
- 17:03Speaker 9: Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
- 17:05Speaker 8: Exactly. That's what I was thinking.
- 17:07Speaker 9: Mother is a big fan of 90s alternative radio in
- 17:11Speaker 9: particular or whatever.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Damn, the oldies.
- 17:13Speaker 9: I don't listen to it myself also. But I did
- 17:17Speaker 9: have to look it up to differentiate them from Blink-182
- 17:20Speaker 9: because I couldn't remember.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Totally different bands. I couldn't remember who had which sound.
- 17:25Speaker 9: Songs or whatever but now that we got it straightened
- 17:28Speaker 9: out I really enjoyed it and no he yeah he
- 17:32Speaker 9: knew who they were they were in one of his
- 17:34Speaker 9: top three that he wanted to see well see.
- 17:37Speaker 7: That's cool and that's what I think is kind of
- 17:39Speaker 7: different too I feel like when I was growing up
- 17:42Speaker 7: it wasn't like there wasn't a.
- 17:44Speaker 8: Cool like thing to be into older stuff where then.
- 17:47Speaker 7: Like a couple of years ago I was working in
- 17:49Speaker 7: a place and like it was like the weekend shift
- 17:52Speaker 7: was a bunch of like high school kids And they
- 17:54Speaker 7: would play stuff. They would get the CD together and
- 17:57Speaker 7: start loading up the disc. And they were playing stuff
- 17:59Speaker 7: from the 60s and 70s. And it was their thing.
- 18:02Speaker 7: They were totally into it.
- 18:03Speaker 4: What year were we talking about here, Brian?
- 18:05Speaker 8: A couple of years ago.
- 18:06Speaker 7: And these kids were, again, they were really into.
- 18:10Speaker 8: Simon and Garfunkel.
- 18:11Speaker 9: And I'm like, what's going on with you kids? Which
- 18:15Speaker 9: has fallen on a few soundtracks themselves. We've played them
- 18:18Speaker 9: many times on this show.
- 18:20Speaker 7: But yeah, it killed me that I'm like, you guys
- 18:23Speaker 7: are into this and like it was legit they weren't
- 18:25Speaker 7: being ironic about it they were like they just again
- 18:29Speaker 7: i think because kids discover things totally different now yes
- 18:32Speaker 7: like and it's okay to be into whatever you want
- 18:35Speaker 7: to be and it's okay to everything like retro has
- 18:37Speaker 7: become kind of cool again so like it's a weird
- 18:41Speaker 7: conglomeration of all that i feel like the kids now
- 18:43Speaker 7: can kind of like whatever the hell they want and
- 18:45Speaker 7: like usually they do so like it's it's very strange
- 18:49Speaker 7: i feel like so.
- 18:51Speaker 9: I feel a lot of those decades that we would
- 18:53Speaker 9: have an 80s night or a 90s night or whatever
- 18:57Speaker 9: type of thing, or 70s or whatever. We probably didn't
- 18:59Speaker 9: have a 90s night because we went to high school.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Or I did. You might have a few.
- 19:03Speaker 8: Years younger than me. 70, 70 years before you.
- 19:05Speaker 4: But go ahead. So now they were doing an 80s
- 19:10Speaker 4: night over.
- 19:11Speaker 9: My son had a dance or whatever, 80s night theme,
- 19:14Speaker 9: and they couldn't differentiate the 70s and 80s and 90s.
- 19:17Speaker 9: It was anything from all of that era sort of
- 19:20Speaker 9: melted together, probably about like we would think of the.
- 19:23Speaker 4: 40s and 50s.
- 19:24Speaker 8: Probably, yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Kind of like maybe blend together to some extent or whatever.
- 19:29Speaker 8: And I think so much of it is media now, too.
- 19:31Speaker 7: I think it is like YouTube just puts it on mix,
- 19:34Speaker 7: and the next thing that comes up is the next
- 19:36Speaker 7: thing that comes up.
- 19:36Speaker 8: And so many.
- 19:37Speaker 7: Kids, that's where they get all of their media is
- 19:40Speaker 7: just like, go Google it. find it on YouTube and
- 19:43Speaker 7: like they again there's no there's no one curating it
- 19:46Speaker 7: like there was like growing up like you had things
- 19:49Speaker 7: that were separate by someone some mastermind behind it all
- 19:52Speaker 7: like some dr demento for me was putting things together
- 19:55Speaker 7: and i found all these weird songs that were like
- 19:58Speaker 7: that all put together by one person where now it's
- 20:01Speaker 7: just a randomizer it's just like whatever gets hits or
- 20:03Speaker 7: whatever happens to be popular at the moment and like
- 20:06Speaker 7: think that's why kids are a little more.
- 20:08Speaker 4: All over the map amazing the ones that make it sometimes.
- 20:10Speaker 8: Yeah it makes no sense sometimes.
- 20:13Speaker 9: I also like i was thinking of my son or
- 20:16Speaker 9: whatever because he would have movie references that are are
- 20:20Speaker 9: separated like three or four times at this point or
- 20:23Speaker 9: whatever i mean the one that comes to my head
- 20:26Speaker 9: right now would be like the here's johnny it was
- 20:29Speaker 9: i i johnny carson show originally i guess.
- 20:32Speaker 8: Is what he's doing and kids don't really.
- 20:35Speaker 9: Yeah but then he would know it from it being
- 20:38Speaker 9: quoted on family guy.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Or something of this sort or whatever so yeah so
- 20:43Speaker 4: it's like by the time it gets to that like
- 20:46Speaker 4: he doesn't know where that came from.
- 20:47Speaker 7: Yeah it's just pop culture references and we don't know
- 20:50Speaker 7: where the original thing came from and i guess i'm
- 20:54Speaker 7: okay with Because, again, I think we latched onto it
- 20:56Speaker 7: the way we did. So I'm like, it's weird and
- 20:59Speaker 7: like old man shaking his fist. You're not doing it right.
- 21:02Speaker 7: I'm like, it's their reference. They can do it however
- 21:04Speaker 7: the hell they want.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Yeah, because I'm trying to tell them where it originally
- 21:07Speaker 4: came from. He's like, yeah, whatever.
- 21:10Speaker 8: You're lame, Dad.
- 21:11Speaker 7: Shut up. So, yeah, that's just something the last, specifically
- 21:16Speaker 7: this year, the more I kept looking at the lineup,
- 21:18Speaker 7: I was just like, because as he said that on stage,
- 21:20Speaker 7: he was like.
- 21:21Speaker 8: We've been in a band for 23.
- 21:22Speaker 7: I'm looking at the kids passing by and I'm like,
- 21:24Speaker 7: none of these kids are 23.
- 21:25Speaker 8: Like, you've been a band longer than most of these
- 21:27Speaker 8: kids around me have been alive.
- 21:29Speaker 7: So I'm just like, it's phenomenal to think that this
- 21:34Speaker 7: scenario still works and that they're still able to play
- 21:37Speaker 7: shows and kids still care. Like, it's just such a weird,
- 21:41Speaker 7: delicate balance that somehow... It's still there, year after year.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Yeah, well, our age gives us historical context, Brian.
- 21:48Speaker 8: You kids get off my lawn.
- 21:50Speaker 3: And pull your damn pants up. Why don't you kids
- 21:53Speaker 3: these days?
- 21:53Speaker 8: That having been said, let's throw out a little Jimmy
- 21:56Speaker 8: Eat World. This is, again, I was.
- 21:59Speaker 7: Trying to get a little different than the most known stuff. So,
- 22:04Speaker 7: I didn't play the middle. So, Lucky Denver Mint is...
- 22:08Speaker 7: is on the, again, going way back, this shows you
- 22:10Speaker 7: how long they've been a band. This is from the
- 22:12Speaker 7: 1999 Never Been Kissed soundtrack, Jimmy E World.
- 22:16Speaker 14: This time it's on my own.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Minutes from somewhere else With lucky temperaments You're not bigger
- 22:48Speaker 1: than this, not better, why can't you learn?
- 22:56Speaker 15: You're not bigger than this, not better, why can't you learn?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Hurry, go on ahead I'll catch up when we get.
- 23:19Speaker 14: Home At home I'll be a dollar underwater Keep on
- 23:29Speaker 14: dreaming for me You're not bigger than this.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Not better, what can't you learn? You're not bigger than this,
- 23:43Speaker 1: not better, what can't you learn? You're not bigger than this,
- 23:51Speaker 1: not better, what can't you learn? You're not bigger than this,
- 23:59Speaker 1: not better, what can't you learn? What can't I learn?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Why can't I learn, learn, learn? Learn, learn, learn. You're
- 24:26Speaker 1: not bigger than this, not better. Why?
- 25:11Speaker 7: That is something that was kind of cool though, is, um, as, as,
- 25:15Speaker 7: because again they played a great set but as the
- 25:17Speaker 7: middle kicked in like that first couple of guitar riffs.
- 25:19Speaker 8: Like the whole crowd like lost it again all the 18.
- 25:23Speaker 7: Year old kids so it is kind of interesting that
- 25:26Speaker 7: like anybody gets to that point where just like a
- 25:28Speaker 7: few guitar riffs is so recognizable and people.
- 25:32Speaker 8: Like again i guess that's why they're still doing.
- 25:34Speaker 7: It like people are still that appreciative of a song
- 25:36Speaker 7: that came out that long ago and like people still
- 25:39Speaker 7: love it so much I think.
- 25:40Speaker 9: There's a great interview with the keyboard player from Europe
- 25:44Speaker 9: that talked about that phenomenon to some extent. It didn't
- 25:47Speaker 9: matter what they've done for the last 40 years or whatever.
- 25:50Speaker 8: All I want is that keyboard.
- 25:52Speaker 9: When he plays those first couple riffs. It's like you
- 25:57Speaker 9: just turned on the happy machine and that just made 40,000
- 25:59Speaker 9: people happy.
- 26:00Speaker 7: I might have to go home and get out my
- 26:02Speaker 7: Europe cassette when I get home tonight.
- 26:05Speaker 4: Don't check out the new stuff.
- 26:09Speaker 8: I'm one of the I can name at least two
- 26:10Speaker 8: members of Europe I'm probably the only.
- 26:14Speaker 7: Joey Tempest where are you these days so that aside
- 26:19Speaker 7: we should move on before I start playing Europe.
- 26:21Speaker 12: Songs when lights go down.
- 26:26Speaker 11: I see no reason.
- 26:39Speaker 4: I'll take every cent you've made.
- 26:46Speaker 8: So, you guys know we're broke, right?
- 26:49Speaker 4: We're always broke. I know.
- 26:52Speaker 8: And yet we're trying to put this show together.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Now how the hell can we keep the show rolling
- 26:57Speaker 5: if we're broke and we.
- 26:58Speaker 4: Can't do this?
- 26:59Speaker 8: Sell special fiddle fowl.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Oh.
- 27:04Speaker 8: Or instead, murder people. Are you just taking random money
- 27:09Speaker 8: out of their pockets?
- 27:09Speaker 4: Well, yeah.
- 27:10Speaker 8: Sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
- 27:12Speaker 8: Hopefully it won't come to that. Especially if they're peeping.
- 27:15Speaker 8: Some people will get on board with this.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Get on board with what?
- 27:19Speaker 8: The new Movie Meltdown Patreon page. And what is this?
- 27:23Speaker 7: If you go there, you can sponsor the show itself. Basically,
- 27:27Speaker 7: you just join the club.
- 27:28Speaker 8: You join the Meltdown Club. You become a milketeer.
- 27:31Speaker 4: Do you get a special decoder ring?
- 27:33Speaker 8: We already sent those out, but those people, nobody cares.
- 27:35Speaker 8: I didn't get a decoder ring. You're not part of
- 27:37Speaker 8: the club.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I'm never part of the club.
- 27:41Speaker 8: You're part of the secret circle, though.
- 27:42Speaker 4: It's okay.
- 27:43Speaker 7: But if you become a milketeer, you can get special
- 27:46Speaker 7: episodes that.
- 27:47Speaker 8: Only come to you. I think you should do it
- 27:50Speaker 8: right now.
- 27:50Speaker 7: Right now? I'm just saying.
- 27:52Speaker 8: It's maybe a couple of bucks. There's other levels you
- 27:56Speaker 8: can kick in and get fancier. Maybe a couple bucks.
- 27:57Speaker 4: You don't know.
- 27:58Speaker 8: Fancier stuff. But really, just a couple of bucks will
- 28:01Speaker 8: keep things rolling.
- 28:02Speaker 4: What'll get me a pony?
- 28:05Speaker 8: That's a really high level. I'll have to figure out
- 28:09Speaker 8: exactly what.
- 28:09Speaker 6: That's platinum membership right there.
- 28:11Speaker 8: It might be above platinum. We'll have to see.
- 28:14Speaker 4: What is above platinum?
- 28:16Speaker 5: Titanium.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Titanium. Really?
- 28:20Speaker 8: Maybe that's a step below.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 28:22Speaker 8: We'll have to see. Aluminium level.
- 28:24Speaker 16: That's way below.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Not if you say it fancy.
- 28:28Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Unobtainium.
- 28:31Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Good luck with that.
- 28:34Speaker 7: But for the rest of you, go kick in a
- 28:36Speaker 7: couple bucks.
- 28:36Speaker 8: Keep the show rolling. Go to patreon.com slash movie meltdown.
- 28:40Speaker 7: And if you don't know how to type all that in,
- 28:43Speaker 7: go to the movie meltdown.com page.
- 28:44Speaker 8: And the link's right there. And you can save this show.
- 28:48Speaker 8: And help me get a pony. Damn them, man. Save
- 28:51Speaker 8: the meltdown.
- 28:53Speaker 6: Get Misty a pony.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 8: Priorities. This is Zach and Shane from Howmouth and you're
- 29:22Speaker 8: listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 29:23Speaker 17: Movie Meltdown.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Shane's got a really good movie announcer voice.
- 29:28Speaker 6: Welcome to Movie Meltdown in a world of total darkness.
- 29:42Speaker 7: So another one this is kind of interesting too is
- 29:44Speaker 7: throwing these together i run across stuff that sometimes i'm
- 29:47Speaker 7: not again it's weird what ends up on soundtracks because
- 29:50Speaker 7: sometimes it's the hits and then sometimes it's like we
- 29:53Speaker 7: made a deal with our studio we've got this b-side
- 29:55Speaker 7: we have nowhere to put it Hey, you've got a soundtrack.
- 29:57Speaker 8: Throw it on.
- 29:58Speaker 7: So sometimes I run into stuff I wasn't all that
- 30:00Speaker 7: familiar with. This, I think, was actually a single, but
- 30:03Speaker 7: Kurt Vile with his Violators. Here this weekend. But before that,
- 30:09Speaker 7: his solo, he does Waking on a Pretty Day from
- 30:13Speaker 7: the Spectacular Now soundtrack, which is also a pretty good movie.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Roll it.
- 30:55Speaker 19: Waking in the dawn of day And I gotta think
- 31:00Speaker 19: about what I wanna say Phone ringing off the shelf
- 31:09Speaker 19: I guess it wanted to kill itself Waking on a
- 31:15Speaker 19: pretty day Don't know why I ever go away It's
- 31:23Speaker 19: hard to explain My love and.
- 31:30Speaker 14: Its days.
- 31:54Speaker 19: You could say I've been most all around, but honey,
- 31:59Speaker 19: I ain't going nowhere. Don't worry about a thing, it's
- 32:08Speaker 19: only dying. I live along your straight lines. Nothing always
- 32:19Speaker 19: comes to mind.
- 32:22Speaker 8: To be frank, I'm a frat.
- 32:27Speaker 19: But I don't mind.
- 32:32Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:42Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm
- 33:09Speaker 16: diggin' Playin.
- 33:13Speaker 20: Low, I'm low, low I'm diggin' Like a lone, lone, lone.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Digging in to the glass that we are living in.
- 33:38Speaker 20: Living on like the days of the sun.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I'm going to drop along the way today.
- 34:55Speaker 19: Phone ringing off the ship. I guess somebody has something
- 35:00Speaker 19: they really want.
- 35:05Speaker 1: To prove to us today. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 19: Waking up pretty day.
- 35:17Speaker 2: For any place.
- 35:19Speaker 19: Nice enough to explain it my loved ones.
- 35:32Speaker 21: Today
- 36:01Speaker 21: .
- 37:59Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 38:26Speaker 18: So so.
- 39:32Speaker 7: And the thing that I, again, this was the part
- 39:34Speaker 7: I didn't know as I threw this out there as
- 39:36Speaker 7: an option. He was also originally the guitarist for the
- 39:40Speaker 7: War on Drugs, who is here.
- 39:42Speaker 8: This weekend as well.
- 39:43Speaker 7: So I'm like, do they see each other hanging around
- 39:46Speaker 7: back in the grassy knoll over there?
- 39:48Speaker 8: And they're just like, oh, I don't know.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Somebody told me that yesterday also.
- 39:52Speaker 8: I didn't know you were playing this weekend. Never mind.
- 39:57Speaker 4: We're out of here. Did Jason Isbell and the Drive-By
- 40:00Speaker 4: Truckers ever play the same weekend, too?
- 40:02Speaker 8: I don't know. I saw he was on the lineup, too.
- 40:05Speaker 8: I kind of wondered.
- 40:05Speaker 9: Yeah, I think he's became kind of a staple at
- 40:07Speaker 9: this point or whatever. I knew him back from the Athens,
- 40:10Speaker 9: Georgia days, also in the 40-watt days.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:13Speaker 7: They played a lot back in the day, so I
- 40:16Speaker 7: guess he's actually crossed over.
- 40:18Speaker 8: He's on the new A Star is Born.
- 40:21Speaker 7: Looking at his lineup, he's got a song on that
- 40:23Speaker 7: new soundtrack that I guess I won't throw in there yet.
- 40:26Speaker 7: It's not out yet. We don't want to ruin it
- 40:28Speaker 7: for you guys. So he's crossing over into film as well.
- 40:33Speaker 7: On that note, once again, let's throw out some War
- 40:35Speaker 7: on Drugs, who is about to close out.
- 40:37Speaker 8: Well, not really close out. They're one of the closing
- 40:40Speaker 8: acts tonight. So this is Burning by the War on
- 40:43Speaker 8: Drugs from Paper Towns, which we might get back to
- 40:47Speaker 8: that soundtrack again later.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I'm taking back roads high again through the riddles of
- 41:18Speaker 1: love I didn't think that I'd love you more You
- 41:27Speaker 1: had me dead to rest and you tried to keep
- 41:29Speaker 1: the surface to.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Keep on moving How you been looking back and trying to.
- 41:42Speaker 15: Change a burning heart.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Until you realize that you were up against I spent
- 41:52Speaker 1: all the nights just trying to take you Till you
- 41:56Speaker 1: released me Cross the bridge to redefine the pain Then
- 42:02Speaker 1: the answer's in your heart So if you look, you'll
- 42:42Speaker 1: find yourself You're not the demon in the dark That
- 42:48Speaker 1: you and I, yeah, we've been through a lot Or
- 42:54Speaker 1: can you rectify it all? The times that took you
- 42:58Speaker 1: away from choosing me. I'm just a burning man trying
- 43:21Speaker 1: to keep the shit from turning over again. Cause there
- 43:29Speaker 1: is a river in the river. Cause the burning man.
- 43:43Speaker 1: dreaming stars.
- 45:29Speaker 6: What's your prediction for the fight then?
- 45:31Speaker 3: Prediction?
- 45:32Speaker 6: Yes, prediction.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Pain.
- 45:37Speaker 8: So I know what really brought you here this weekend.
- 45:39Speaker 7: You can claim all these other bands, but it's all
- 45:42Speaker 7: T-Pain for you, isn't it?
- 45:44Speaker 4: Which one? T-Pain.
- 45:46Speaker 8: I know you're here for the T-Pain.
- 45:48Speaker 4: I've got my t-shirt ready.
- 45:51Speaker 8: You spray painted it yourself.
- 45:53Speaker 4: T on the back.
- 45:55Speaker 8: Hey, that's one of those.
- 45:59Speaker 7: And again, the person I was hanging out with last
- 46:01Speaker 7: night was so excited that T-Pain was here. I was
- 46:04Speaker 7: just like, it is funny the difference because they have
- 46:08Speaker 7: mixed in all these like, it seems like it has
- 46:10Speaker 7: a vibe going in a certain type of band some years.
- 46:13Speaker 7: And then they'll throw in some really extra weird, which again,
- 46:17Speaker 7: I guess it depends which stage. that this stage we're
- 46:20Speaker 7: close to now is a little more, a little more dancey,
- 46:22Speaker 7: a little more hip hop, a little more trancy. So
- 46:25Speaker 7: they sometimes work in a little more rap end of it.
- 46:28Speaker 7: But T-Pain is kind.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Of this a little bit younger audience. Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 46:34Speaker 8: I mean, I still loiter around there like the creepy
- 46:36Speaker 8: old dude that I am.
- 46:37Speaker 4: But no, the.
- 46:38Speaker 8: T-Pain was a whole different vibe.
- 46:41Speaker 7: And as I went through again, I knew more of
- 46:44Speaker 7: his songs than I planned on.
- 46:46Speaker 8: As I was running down the list. But I was
- 46:47Speaker 8: trying to, again, like.
- 46:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 46:50Speaker 7: We don't need to play I'm in love with a stripper. So, like,
- 46:54Speaker 7: let's go find something a little different. So, again, if
- 46:57Speaker 7: you go back further, you kind of get some different stuff.
- 46:59Speaker 7: This is not the T-Pain that I would recognize now.
- 47:03Speaker 7: If you go back to 2006's Save the Last Dance 2. Because,
- 47:07Speaker 7: you know, they saved the best for the second. The
- 47:09Speaker 7: sequel is where they brought out all the good Save
- 47:12Speaker 7: the Last Dance.
- 47:13Speaker 8: Dance Floor. is an early T-Pain that I think we're going.
- 47:16Speaker 4: To go with right now.
- 47:18Speaker 3: I want to dance.
- 47:31Speaker 22: I got the hat, I got the.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Shoes, I got the outfit.
- 47:36Speaker 23: I go outside and pick the ride, I'm gonna go
- 47:41Speaker 23: out with. But right before I hit the streets, I
- 47:45Speaker 23: gotta put on my dancing shoes and the mirror.
- 48:08Speaker 22: We'll be right back. Oh, I hit the club and
- 48:42Speaker 22: I'm ready for a dance off.
- 48:44Speaker 23: Me and Diz, I'm about to go and make a
- 48:47Speaker 23: pants off. So if you want to ride with me,
- 48:51Speaker 23: I'm about to do the same thing that I did
- 48:54Speaker 23: in the mirror.
- 49:17Speaker 4: We on the stage for.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I'll be on the dance floor. That's what I do.
- 49:20Speaker 1: In a minute, I'll be in it.
- 49:21Speaker 22: And I'll check in with you. I'll be on the
- 49:25Speaker 22: dance floor. Come and check in with me. Sounding from
- 49:29Speaker 22: the corner.
- 49:30Speaker 1: That's you looking for me. I'll be on the dance floor.
- 49:34Speaker 1: That's what I do. In a minute, I'll.
- 49:35Speaker 8: Be in it.
- 49:37Speaker 1: And I'll check in with you. On the dance floor.
- 49:47Speaker 18: Hey, this your boy Taye Dixon, you know what I'm saying,
- 49:49Speaker 18: that cool and mentality, you know. Hey, I'm doing this
- 49:52Speaker 18: here for the South, you know what I'm saying, with
- 49:53Speaker 18: my nigga Payne. And I told y'all, nigga, before we
- 49:55Speaker 18: drop this, cause in the very jet, you know, it
- 49:57Speaker 18: be the shit, like an old school body, that's good
- 49:59Speaker 18: at all, I'm gonna burn to the pain, to the top,
- 50:01Speaker 18: in the back, cause it jump off.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Hit em, this one gon' set it off, hit it, club,
- 50:04Speaker 1: get to seven, it's a monograph.
- 50:05Speaker 18: One step to my crew, then this is what my
- 50:08Speaker 18: crew gon' do, my nigga.
- 50:37Speaker 22: So I'm not gonna play Jenny Lewis, even though that's
- 50:42Speaker 22: kind of the whole reason.
- 50:45Speaker 1: I'm here today. I gotta say, I'm surprised.
- 50:47Speaker 8: By I knew of her. I've kind of always been aware.
- 51:10Speaker 7: Of her and a little aware of the music and
- 51:13Speaker 7: kind of fascinated by the fact that she is the
- 51:15Speaker 7: musician she is now.
- 51:18Speaker 8: After seeing her, I've got to say I've got a
- 51:19Speaker 8: little Jenny Lewis crush going on here. But I'm not
- 51:22Speaker 8: going to play tracks because I'm inviting her to have
- 51:25Speaker 8: her own episode. She's an open invite right now. I'm
- 51:28Speaker 8: going to work on that. We're going to come back
- 51:31Speaker 8: to her later. Where is she from?
- 51:32Speaker 9: Hollywood.
- 51:33Speaker 19: Hollywood.
- 51:37Speaker 7: It's a fascinating story that like again this is one
- 51:40Speaker 7: of those that like i was like wait is that
- 51:42Speaker 7: damn it is all right so like being the the
- 51:44Speaker 7: geek that i am like i way latched onto her
- 51:47Speaker 7: like story and her switching of career so i kind
- 51:51Speaker 7: of want to hear this from her directly so that's
- 51:52Speaker 7: why i'm not even going to go down that road
- 51:54Speaker 7: we're coming back later jenny open invite we're going to
- 51:58Speaker 7: piece this together together so aside from that i also
- 52:02Speaker 7: wanted to bring up a weird fact for the weekend
- 52:05Speaker 7: I've gotten several high fives this weekend.
- 52:07Speaker 8: For free?
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 7: If it tells you that this is like the vibe
- 52:11Speaker 7: of what's going on. And I've kind of said that
- 52:14Speaker 7: in years past. It is kind of like as grouchy
- 52:17Speaker 7: a bastard as I am that, you know, is antisocial
- 52:20Speaker 7: and doesn't leave the house most of the time. Forcing
- 52:22Speaker 7: myself to come out here in the bright sunlight, the
- 52:24Speaker 7: undead creature that I am, is already a lot to ask.
- 52:28Speaker 7: But on top of that, like having to interact with people.
- 52:31Speaker 8: There's usually a pretty good, like, vibe. There's usually a
- 52:34Speaker 8: pretty good crowd.
- 52:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 52:36Speaker 8: Yeah, cramming this many people together could be dangerous.
- 52:39Speaker 7: And, like, the fact that not only rarely do people
- 52:42Speaker 7: get killed, but, like, on top of that, like, everybody
- 52:45Speaker 7: kind of seems to, like, get along and.
- 52:47Speaker 8: Be in a good mood. And, yeah, as.
- 52:50Speaker 9: two different times high fives I never feel like I'm
- 52:53Speaker 9: gonna get kicked in the head by a mosher or
- 52:55Speaker 9: that I'm gonna get trampled by a crowd against the
- 52:59Speaker 9: front of the stage or whatever I mean the night's
- 53:01Speaker 9: still young we'll see if you make it out of
- 53:04Speaker 9: here alive but right we still have Chris Stapleton that's
- 53:06Speaker 9: right Stapleton might just start stepping on people's heads himself
- 53:09Speaker 9: we'll see but yeah that was that was yeah an
- 53:13Speaker 9: interesting thing last night the person I was next to
- 53:18Speaker 9: didn't know them when I got there Eventually, she had
- 53:21Speaker 9: to tell me her name.
- 53:23Speaker 8: She also had no problem with personal space, by the way.
- 53:25Speaker 7: She was really close to me. And then at some point,
- 53:29Speaker 7: the big song kicked in she'd been waiting to hear,
- 53:31Speaker 7: and she turned around.
- 53:32Speaker 8: And high-fived me.
- 53:35Speaker 4: I'm like, all right.
- 53:36Speaker 8: Well, I'm glad you're happy.
- 53:37Speaker 4: I feel like next year I need to bring a
- 53:39Speaker 4: clicker for how many.
- 53:41Speaker 8: Count the high-fives.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:42Speaker 8: Well, see, that's another thing I'm not sure of.
- 53:45Speaker 4: Three and five this year. I don't know. I like it.
- 53:47Speaker 8: Were you prompting them yourself? No, they were just giving out.
- 53:51Speaker 4: I didn't offer anybody one.
- 53:53Speaker 7: So I guess I might have to start doing that
- 53:55Speaker 7: next year. I need to start initiating.
- 53:58Speaker 8: See where I die.
- 53:59Speaker 9: There was somebody at the end of the bridge that
- 54:02Speaker 9: you crossed over between the stages or whatever, and he
- 54:04Speaker 9: was just giving everybody one that came down or whatever.
- 54:07Speaker 20: Yikes.
- 54:08Speaker 7: So this is another fact I wasn't sure about. Since
- 54:11Speaker 7: we are, in fact, in not only the home of Fourcastle,
- 54:14Speaker 7: but possibly the birthplace of the High.
- 54:17Speaker 4: Fives, I don't know anything about this. I like that they.
- 54:21Speaker 7: Whoever this is, mostly I'm taking this from a t-shirt.
- 54:24Speaker 7: There was a place in town that started putting together
- 54:26Speaker 7: these t-shirts and it said, Louisville, birthplace of the high five.
- 54:31Speaker 8: And I'm like, alright, so.
- 54:32Speaker 7: Take a thing you cannot really pin down and claim it.
- 54:37Speaker 8: That's pretty damn cool, actually.
- 54:39Speaker 7: So... If you yourself out there have evidence to prove
- 54:43Speaker 7: otherwise that your hometown is the birthplace of the high.
- 54:46Speaker 8: Five, please email me and let me know. It's on
- 54:48Speaker 8: the website, moviemountdown.com.
- 54:50Speaker 7: Let me know where you think the birthplace of the
- 54:52Speaker 7: high five is because I don't know truthfully, but I've
- 54:55Speaker 7: been told by a t-shirt, which is pretty reputable, that
- 54:59Speaker 7: it is in fact Louisville, birthplace of the high five.
- 55:02Speaker 4: I think we invented the sneeze also.
- 55:05Speaker 8: Pin that down.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Come on.
- 55:06Speaker 7: I want some facts behind this. Okay, so it has
- 55:09Speaker 7: been kind of toasty. You know what you need to
- 55:11Speaker 7: go get? You need to go get a nice iced
- 55:15Speaker 7: coffee from Heine Brothers, which is actually.
- 55:18Speaker 8: Right over there in that field, right there.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Are they a sponsor? They are, in fact, a sponsor.
- 55:23Speaker 8: Normally, I wouldn't bother plugging because, you know, most people
- 55:26Speaker 8: are uncool. But Heine Brothers, pretty damn cool because they've
- 55:28Speaker 8: decided to back this very show you're listening to right now.
- 55:31Speaker 3: So that's one more reason.
- 55:33Speaker 8: Go over there, get a drink.
- 55:34Speaker 7: If you're not in this very field where we are,
- 55:37Speaker 7: go online.
- 55:38Speaker 8: To the website, get yourself some coffee shipped right to
- 55:40Speaker 8: your house.
- 55:41Speaker 5: I want to tell you about the Heine Brothers coffee subscription.
- 55:44Speaker 5: Wherever you are, home, work, or out on the road,
- 55:48Speaker 5: you deserve great coffee. And the Heine Brothers subscription plan

- 56:36Speaker 9: We're Repeat Repeat, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 56:40Speaker 4: Hell yeah.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Everyone is worried how they're going to look.
- 57:01Speaker 8: Since your 13-year-old has joined a band now and he's
- 57:03Speaker 8: on tour somewhere, we should probably wrap up.
- 57:06Speaker 4: He's most likely just playing on his phone. And doesn't
- 57:10Speaker 4: even realize I've left yet.
- 57:11Speaker 7: Which is something I don't do, as I realized, because
- 57:15Speaker 7: I obviously don't mess with it that much because I've
- 57:17Speaker 7: had this same phone for years.
- 57:19Speaker 8: And I know that because it occurred to me this weekend.
- 57:21Speaker 7: This is the third year, I guess two full year anniversary,
- 57:25Speaker 7: but it's the three years ago at Fourcastle. This very
- 57:29Speaker 7: phone decided that I lived in London. It was really
- 57:33Speaker 7: hot that weekend as well. I guess it got just
- 57:36Speaker 7: enough moisture in it to give it some sort of
- 57:39Speaker 7: something popped in its little mechanical brain. And ever since then,
- 57:42Speaker 7: no matter how I set the home setting, it still
- 57:45Speaker 7: acknowledges where I am and I can find the time
- 57:49Speaker 7: for my city. But when it shows where I am,
- 57:51Speaker 7: it always thinks I'm in London. No matter how I
- 57:54Speaker 7: readjust the settings.
- 57:56Speaker 9: My iPhone used to always think I was in Atlanta also.
- 57:59Speaker 9: So if it makes you feel any better, yeah.
- 58:01Speaker 8: So, you know, it's always foggy when I look at
- 58:03Speaker 8: my phone.
- 58:04Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 58:05Speaker 7: It also proves I don't play with my phone that
- 58:07Speaker 7: much or I would have bought a new phone since then.
- 58:09Speaker 7: But since I don't really care that much, I don't
- 58:11Speaker 7: mess with it.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Sorry, I wasn't listening.
- 58:13Speaker 6: I've just been bat-mailing on my bat-phone.
- 58:15Speaker 4: I believe that.
- 58:17Speaker 7: According to what we're hearing on the speaker behind us,
- 58:19Speaker 7: this is the largest attended forecastle in history.
- 58:23Speaker 4: Oh, I thought he said it was the hottest.
- 58:24Speaker 7: Oh, it was also, I think, he threw that out
- 58:26Speaker 7: there as a possible, probably the hottest.
- 58:30Speaker 4: I would say.
- 58:31Speaker 7: I would say yes on that one, too. But it's
- 58:33Speaker 7: funny that that did not deter people. I guess suckers,
- 58:36Speaker 7: they'd already bought their tickets by then.
- 58:37Speaker 8: But still, that's pretty impressive.
- 58:41Speaker 7: All right, so let's get to some more tracks. Closing
- 58:43Speaker 7: out the event tomorrow night, we've got Arcade Fire. So
- 58:47Speaker 7: let's go with Deep Blue from the 2014 Boyhood soundtrack.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Here, in my place and time And here on my
- 59:02Speaker 1: own skin I can finally begin Let the century pass
- 59:08Speaker 1: me by Standing under the night sky Tomorrow means nothing
- 59:27Speaker 1: I was only a child then Feeling barely alive when
- 59:32Speaker 1: I saw from the speaker of a passing car And
- 59:37Speaker 1: dreamed a dying star The memories faded I can almost
- 59:41Speaker 1: remember seeing the light of the night We watched the
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: end of the century Compressed on a tiny screen The
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: dead star collapsing and we could see Something was ending
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: Are you through pretending? We saw the signs in the
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: suburbs guitar solo.
- 1:01:00Speaker 23: That I could see through you.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Casper of deep blue, 1996. Your mind's playing tricks now.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Show us, oh, show us, oh, take a bow. We're
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: living in the show.
- 1:01:30Speaker 17: Thank you.
- 1:01:30Speaker 20: Thank you.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: Do you feel like you've lived your entire life here
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: like boyhood like it just years and years of or
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: when you go back to find your son he's gonna
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: be like 30 boyhood is taking place right in our
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: very lives right now he grew up at forecastle raised
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: by people running a corndog.
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: Booth t-shirt hut might be a hustler but i don't know.
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: Oh there you go so another one this weekend is
- 1:03:17Speaker 7: trampled by turtles which again i know the big song
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: so i'm like let's not play that one because it
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: is on a soundtrack but i was like let's do
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: something a little less known this is empire from the
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: safe haven soundtrack.
- 1:03:41Speaker 10: It's all that I remember, a sober night alone And
- 1:03:49Speaker 10: it took all I had not to call you on
- 1:03:52Speaker 10: the phone in my ears and I don't understand it's
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: been that way for years.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: You know the world will fall apart if you.
- 1:04:26Speaker 17: Grow Holes surrounded Heidi And up against the wall Your
- 1:05:07Speaker 17: guns were made of iron.
- 1:05:54Speaker 19: Listen to the lions as they run the world.
- 1:05:58Speaker 11: Holiest empire, but nothing lasts for sure.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: And you.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Have My safe word will be whiskey.
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: Safe haven.
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: I know it's your favorite Nicholas Sparks adaptation. Every year
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: we've got to have a new Nicholas Sparks show up.
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: Trampled by turtles wanting to be involved, it sounds like. Alright,
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: so we're about to round out with the last big
- 1:07:03Speaker 7: song here.
- 1:07:04Speaker 4: What do we have, Brian?
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: Well, I guess first we should say thank you to Forecastle.
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: For letting us be part of this and hang out
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: here and record and look at all this luxury that
- 1:07:14Speaker 7: our recording studio we have.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: All right, we're next to a bush.
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: But that aside, I mean, it's still cool to come
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: out here in the middle of all the craziness and
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: record an episode every year.
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: So, thank you to Fort Castle.
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: Once again, go to fortcastle.com and figure out how to
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: get your tickets next year.
- 1:07:32Speaker 8: It's probably not that complicated. I bet a credit card's
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: all you need.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: You don't have a credit card.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: So I specifically saved this one for last because it
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: seemed very fitting as a wrap-up for not just this weekend,
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: but maybe this whole time of year. Because so far,
- 1:07:47Speaker 7: for me, it's been a pretty great summer. And last night,
- 1:07:51Speaker 7: I was up really close to Vance Joy. More than
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: I expected, but once again, I was hanging out with
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: weirdos last night, and they decided they needed to get
- 1:07:58Speaker 7: up really close to Vance Joy. And then I don't
- 1:08:01Speaker 7: think any of them cared that much about Vance Joy.
- 1:08:03Speaker 8: I don't know what they were doing exactly, but.
- 1:08:06Speaker 7: My favorite was like, it's like all these hardcore fans
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: right up front. It finally, like he starts to come out,
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: they cheer, it gets quiet. And then somebody goes, which
- 1:08:14Speaker 7: one's Vince?
- 1:08:16Speaker 8: So again, the sheer love of Vance Joy that they have.
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: So, but yeah, the fact that this song was called
- 1:08:25Speaker 7: Great Summer, I thought was very fitting as a way
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: to round this mess out.
- 1:08:29Speaker 8: So this is from the Paper Towns.
- 1:08:31Speaker 7: Once again, very popular this episode. the Paper Towns soundtrack.
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: So with that, I will remind you, get a life,
- 1:08:39Speaker 7: we'll provide the soundtrack.
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Great summer.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: ¶ ¶ ¶ Coming to your house ¶ ¶ ¶
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Knocking at your door ¶ ¶ ¶ Your mouth a
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: sip of wine ¶ ¶ We'll be right back.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: Left your clothes.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: Next to the bed Some pretty pictures in my head
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I hope you had a great summer A great summer
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: away Now.
- 1:09:41Speaker 11: I'm in the dark I'm not so used.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: To doubt You're.
- 1:09:51Speaker 12: My first cigarette So call me, call.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Me now Do you love me, love me, love me
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Do you love me now Do you feel me, feel me,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: feel me Do you feel me now.
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: Oh Left your clothes next to the bed.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Some pretty pictures in my head. I hope you had.
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: A great summer.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: A great summer away. The kid you used to be.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: But I'm lonely all still. I had a great summer,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: a great summer away.
- 1:10:53Speaker 11: Why'd I let you go? Why'd I let you go?
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Why'd I let you go?
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: Why'd I let you go?
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Why'd I let you go?
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: Why'd I let you go?
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: Why?
- 1:11:10Speaker 12: You're close next to the bed.
- 1:11:14Speaker 15: Some pretty pictures in my head. I hope you had
- 1:11:20Speaker 15: a great summer. A great summer away.
- 1:11:26Speaker 8: The kid you used to be.
- 1:11:28Speaker 15: I know that you're still there.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I hope you had a great summer. We'll be right back.
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: Well, thanks for having me on, Brian. Thank you for
- 1:12:16Speaker 4: being on.
- 1:12:17Speaker 8: It's been great.
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: Enjoyed the not-face-melting heat for a few hours.
- 1:12:21Speaker 7: Yeah, it's been nice sitting here in the nice overcast
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: back in a corner where no one can find us.
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: Again, I'm antisocial. I prefer this, really, the mean jammed
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: up next to a lot of sweaty people, so I'm
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: okay with this.
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: Thank you. You're welcome. We're out.
