Security Guard Charged in Gold Mine Shooting | Guyana News
A 27-year-old security guard, Ormyous Vieira, faces murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a 32-year-old gold miner, Ceton Courtman, at Sands Backdam along the Cuyuni River. The fatal altercation occurred Monday morning, and Courtman died at the Aurora Gold Mines Medical Centre. Vieira appeared in Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where he was remanded in custody without entering a plea; his next court date is August 17th.
