- 2:06Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 2:06Speaker 6: I see a few folks in here, big evert silver
- 2:09Speaker 6: Tips fans. How about the Tips going all the way
- 2:11Speaker 6: to the mem Cup. That was amazing, That was fun
- 2:14Speaker 6: for Seattle hockey.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Your summer just began about a few weeks ago.
- 2:17Speaker 6: Say yeah, if you're a Tips fan, you guys are
- 2:19Speaker 6: still catching your breath from a heck of a run.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Diving right into it and then right back into trading
- 2:24Speaker 3: camp for them in about roughly less than two months
- 2:26Speaker 3: from now.
- 2:27Speaker 8: Crazy stuff here. By the way, Mike Benton is buying
- 2:29Speaker 8: the first round for everybody.
- 2:30Speaker 4: So yeah, whatever, reckon you to make friends? Yeah, top
- 2:34Speaker 4: shelf everyone, Let's go Mikey, Let's.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Get out of here right now. But also we have
- 2:38Speaker 3: some pretty important things to get to as well. Jason
- 2:41Speaker 3: Gregor of Sports fourteen forty and Edmonton also the Daily
- 2:44Speaker 3: face Off. He joined us here, and he shared more
- 2:46Speaker 3: about the most exciting storyline heading into this year's draft.
- 2:50Speaker 9: O well man, we've seen the first top five pick
- 2:55Speaker 9: traded since two thousand and eight. Already in the Bowl
- 2:58Speaker 9: and byrom Chicago trade, and I actually mind that trade
- 3:00Speaker 9: off of Chicago. You know, there's lots of rumblings maybe
- 3:03Speaker 9: about the Sharks and number two. I gotta see it
- 3:05Speaker 9: to believe it, guys, because it doesn't.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Happen very often.
- 3:08Speaker 9: But like, no one can complain if there's not a
- 3:10Speaker 9: lot of trades tonight because we've had an unreal week of.
- 3:13Speaker 5: Trades in the NHL.
- 3:14Speaker 9: Like that's that's better than any trade deadline, arguably probably
- 3:18Speaker 9: going to be bigger than free agency, just when you
- 3:20Speaker 9: look at the quality of players that have been moved
- 3:22Speaker 9: top pair defense, when top line forwards, second line forwards,
- 3:26Speaker 9: it's you know, it's been unreal to watch. But I'm
- 3:29Speaker 9: gonna say the top ten picks, and does somebody try
- 3:33Speaker 9: to make a big splash the fact that the Sharks
- 3:35Speaker 9: have two picks and they traded Ecklund away to get
- 3:39Speaker 9: a pick, which I'm not really sure why they would
- 3:42Speaker 9: do that, So I'm wondering if they've got another domino
- 3:45Speaker 9: to fall.
- 3:45Speaker 3: We're gonna get to a lot of this here, but
- 3:47Speaker 3: Gavin McKenna, evar Stenberg a big part of the conversation
- 3:51Speaker 3: that maybe go off the board here Chase Reid looking
- 3:53Speaker 3: to go off the board early, and then really who knows,
- 3:55Speaker 3: but I want to first touch on the crack inside
- 3:57Speaker 3: of this, Jason. There was a pledge for a prolific
- 4:00Speaker 3: off season and the wheels got in motion Sunday, pretty
- 4:05Speaker 3: sensible trade made Mackie Samuskevitch, then Bobby McMahon reups for
- 4:09Speaker 3: six more years. But then last night the firestorm hit
- 4:12Speaker 3: with Jason robertson that news on our hands. First off
- 4:16Speaker 3: the bat, where do you think it puts the crake
- 4:18Speaker 3: in right now with the reality that they face.
- 4:21Speaker 9: Well, first of all, you know, I credit border like, hey,
- 4:24Speaker 9: he's taken swings here, and that's what you want your
- 4:26Speaker 9: GM to do. No one can say he's not trying.
- 4:30Speaker 9: But unfortunately he's kind of still paying the price from
- 4:34Speaker 9: his predecessor because when you look at the from day one,
- 4:39Speaker 9: and this is not me in hinssight. I didn't love
- 4:41Speaker 9: Seattle's approach at the expansion draft. I thought it was
- 4:45Speaker 9: way too cautious. It basically said we're gonna be, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 9: five six years before really competitive, and that's hard to
- 4:51Speaker 9: do because in the draft lottery you got to get
- 4:54Speaker 9: some luck, not only getting a higher pick and winning
- 4:56Speaker 9: the but then making the right pick because you're still
- 4:59Speaker 9: drafting seeeventeen to nat year own kids. And they all
- 5:01Speaker 9: look good at seventeen and eighteen, but they don't all.
- 5:04Speaker 9: You know, if you're a number one and a number
- 5:05Speaker 9: two and three, they're not all they're not all equal.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Just because the.
- 5:08Speaker 9: Number two of the year before is a great pick,
- 5:10Speaker 9: or it turns out to be a great player, doesn't
- 5:12Speaker 9: mean your number two is going to be. So I
- 5:14Speaker 9: give him a lot of credit. You know that they've
- 5:16Speaker 9: been swinging here big, you know, to make Jason Robertson
- 5:19Speaker 9: the second highest paid player in the NHL. And I
- 5:23Speaker 9: know a lot of people were like, gab, but it's
- 5:25Speaker 9: because the new tax coming in, and I'm like, hey,
- 5:27Speaker 9: let's let's pump the brakes on that. So even if
- 5:30Speaker 9: you add that, so that's thirteen point five million in
- 5:34Speaker 9: a no state tax, in a no stat yeah, no
- 5:38Speaker 9: tax state.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Excuse me, Right, So.
- 5:39Speaker 9: It's thirteen point five which would still be top four
- 5:42Speaker 9: highest guy forward in the league. Right, So they made
- 5:45Speaker 9: a huge offer here and right now, players in hockey,
- 5:49Speaker 9: they you're a free agent, it's your right to not
- 5:52Speaker 9: say yes to a contract offer.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I got to see what he gets here. But hey,
- 5:57Speaker 5: we saw.
- 5:57Speaker 9: Ranton and turned down Caroline, and look they want the
- 6:00Speaker 9: Cup a few years later. So you can always be
- 6:02Speaker 9: careful what you wish for as a player.
- 6:04Speaker 7: Jason with with Paneren and now Robertson, obviously Seattle's got
- 6:09Speaker 7: a little bit of PTSD with these situations. Put your
- 6:13Speaker 7: player hat on though for me, and and and answer
- 6:15Speaker 7: the question why not Seattle? Why are players saying no
- 6:19Speaker 7: to Seattle? Take the tax part out of it. What
- 6:22Speaker 7: are the other reasons?
- 6:24Speaker 9: Well, I think when I look at it, La now La,
- 6:28Speaker 9: Hey it's La. But it was also only a two
- 6:30Speaker 9: year deal. So Paneren probably feels like, okay, I can go.
- 6:34Speaker 9: There's there's Campei, you know, there's Fiala. Their top end
- 6:38Speaker 9: guys are still better than Seattle's top end guys. So
- 6:41Speaker 9: if I'm a top player, if we look at most
- 6:43Speaker 9: of the top scorers, you know, Celebrini was an exception
- 6:46Speaker 9: this year. He's a little bit of a freedom fighter,
- 6:48Speaker 9: but usually there's duos. Right, You've got look at Martin
- 6:51Speaker 9: Nachus comes in and he really helps out McKinnon after
- 6:54Speaker 9: he had rant and and oh yeah, that Cale mccarr,
- 6:56Speaker 9: guy's pretty good. And then you got dry Settle and
- 6:58Speaker 9: McDavid and Bouchard and have coucher Off and Braden point
- 7:01Speaker 9: and you know, usually if you want to be a
- 7:03Speaker 9: high end guy, and Robertson's a pretty good score, right,
- 7:06Speaker 9: But Mitch Marter he goes because there's Jack Eichel, right, So.
- 7:09Speaker 5: I think now you got to get one.
- 7:11Speaker 9: And usually the best place to get a top end
- 7:14Speaker 9: guy is through the draft if we look at it historically, right,
- 7:17Speaker 9: Like there's been a few trades lately, and I like
- 7:19Speaker 9: Matthew could chuck, but he's like he's a one time
- 7:22Speaker 9: one hundred point guy. He's not a top ten scorer
- 7:25Speaker 9: all the time, right. Robertson has actually has been for
- 7:28Speaker 9: the last four years. I think he's ninth in the
- 7:30Speaker 9: NHL in that time, so he has that first stretch.
- 7:33Speaker 9: But even him, that one hundred and nine point seasons
- 7:35Speaker 9: a few years away. So I think right now, Seattle,
- 7:39Speaker 9: and it's hard for fans.
- 7:40Speaker 5: I get it.
- 7:40Speaker 9: Everybody wants to win right away, but it's freaking hard
- 7:43Speaker 9: to win right now. You just want to get competitive.
- 7:46Speaker 9: But sometimes, like Seattle, I felt the worst thing that
- 7:49Speaker 9: happened to them. I know this sounds counterintuitive, was making
- 7:52Speaker 9: the playoffs the second year, right, but then look what
- 7:54Speaker 9: they did, guys. The reason they made the playoffs because
- 7:56Speaker 9: their fourth line scored like forty.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Five goals in five on five hundred and one point
- 8:01Speaker 5: on that fourth line that year. Yeah, and then they
- 8:04Speaker 5: let them all go.
- 8:05Speaker 9: I'm like, but, like, what what you just had guys
- 8:09Speaker 9: who contributed and then you let them all go. Now,
- 8:11Speaker 9: I'm not saying they all would have repeated it, but
- 8:13Speaker 9: they had a perfect storm, and I think it kind
- 8:17Speaker 9: of set them back because it changed their expectations. And
- 8:19Speaker 9: I think they should have had this is our plan,
- 8:22Speaker 9: and then they kind of deviated from it. And now
- 8:24Speaker 9: it's up to the current regime. Who didn't who wasn't
- 8:26Speaker 9: part of it? Now they've got to fix the problem,
- 8:28Speaker 9: and it's hard to fix it quickly.
- 8:30Speaker 3: That's Jason Gregor or the Daily Face Off joining us
- 8:33Speaker 3: and more of that conversation, by the way, podcasted on
- 8:35Speaker 3: the iHeartRadio app as We're back live once again at
- 8:37Speaker 3: thirty two Bar and Grill, Mike Ian Everett al as well.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I first want to reset the situation here with the
- 8:44Speaker 3: first pick about to go off the board, right now,
- 8:46Speaker 3: and it looks like coverage officially underway and Buffalo is who.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Is this guy?
- 8:51Speaker 4: They mentioned it as well, A big name I believe
- 8:53Speaker 4: the Buffalo Bill Lineman up there.
- 8:57Speaker 8: We're all talking about, like Drake By. Yeah, I'm the
- 9:00Speaker 8: last guy to ask, I mean, why would we have
- 9:03Speaker 8: why would you? Yeah, I mean, why would you have
- 9:04Speaker 8: a Buffalo Bill taking a pick for Toronto? Outside of
- 9:06Speaker 8: that's the kind of their team.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Somebody joked it would have been Gavin McKenna Actually, McKennis MCKENNISHO,
- 9:11Speaker 3: he's your celebrit he's been the celebrity to make the
- 9:13Speaker 3: pick and announce his own pick. Well, the Kraken will
- 9:15Speaker 3: pick seven looks like right now unless something happens on
- 9:18Speaker 3: the trade front. Well, they apparently tried to do something
- 9:21Speaker 3: last night to move that pick and move heaven and
- 9:23Speaker 3: Earth to get Jason Robertson here, and that's been in
- 9:26Speaker 3: the news cycle for the last really twenty four hours.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So we kind of reset this here because they were
- 9:31Speaker 3: given permission, according to reports, to work out a sign
- 9:34Speaker 3: in trade. They offered eight years fifteen million roughly. Robertson
- 9:38Speaker 3: turned that down. So the question here and we said
- 9:40Speaker 3: this again four, nine, four or five one to komanajh
- 9:42Speaker 3: text line, do you keep taking swings or do you
- 9:45Speaker 3: lean more into youth here at the draft because there
- 9:47Speaker 3: could be someone big on defense to be there, maybe
- 9:50Speaker 3: at number seven.
- 9:50Speaker 8: Well, I think first of all, we just got to
- 9:52Speaker 8: take a step back and look at what happened last
- 9:54Speaker 8: night or the last twenty four hours. You know, if
- 9:57Speaker 8: there's any questions are concerned by fans whether or not
- 10:00Speaker 8: Jason bot Roll is going to go out and try
- 10:02Speaker 8: to be aggressive and try to make some moves. He's
- 10:04Speaker 8: done that, whether it was Panerin at the trade deadline
- 10:07Speaker 8: or Jason robertson last night. Now, as a restricted free
- 10:10Speaker 8: agents a sign and trade, he has to make the call.
- 10:12Speaker 8: He obviously wants to go to a ready made Stanley
- 10:14Speaker 8: Cup contender and and unfortunately for the situation that comes into.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Play a bunch of Vegas Golden Knights on team.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why you heard the car. Nobody needs to
- 10:25Speaker 4: see those guys up there.
- 10:27Speaker 8: No, I think I think though never mentioned this in
- 10:30Speaker 8: the first hour of our show, you know, I think
- 10:32Speaker 8: if you're a crack and fan, you got to be
- 10:33Speaker 8: excited the fact that they're getting after it. Like they're
- 10:35Speaker 8: getting after it now. You still have to have someone
- 10:38Speaker 8: agree to come here. It takes a trade partner and
- 10:39Speaker 8: all those things. Resigning of Bobby McMahon was huge, huge,
- 10:43Speaker 8: and that's a huge thing perception wise. He could have
- 10:46Speaker 8: hit the market July first, gone to any number of teams,
- 10:48Speaker 8: probably made even a little bit more money. He said no,
- 10:50Speaker 8: I want to stay here in Ctle. He sided the fans,
- 10:53Speaker 8: the facilities, the direction of the team. I think that's
- 10:56Speaker 8: a really positive step. Jason Robertson, Obviously that's a little
- 10:59Speaker 8: bit of a hit. I think it's more of a
- 11:01Speaker 8: hit to people outside of the organization than those inside.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Every I think it is too and I think with McMahon, right,
- 11:06Speaker 6: I've said this since day one, and I use the
- 11:08Speaker 6: example last segment.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I don't care who the player is. It could be
- 11:12Speaker 5: Connor McDavid.
- 11:13Speaker 6: If you don't want to be here, I don't want
- 11:15Speaker 6: you here, right, I want guys who wants to be here.
- 11:17Speaker 6: Bobby McMahon wants to be here. As far as Jason
- 11:20Speaker 6: Botchrill goes, listen, you've swung at Paneren, You've swung at
- 11:24Speaker 6: Jason Robertson. You're now showing that you're willing to put
- 11:27Speaker 6: the money where your mouth is to make those big moves.
- 11:30Speaker 6: And we talked so much about the aggressive offseason, the
- 11:34Speaker 6: prolific offseason. That doesn't necessarily mean the result. You can
- 11:38Speaker 6: be aggressive in the approach. If the approach is aggressive
- 11:42Speaker 6: for me, that's what's important, because you're showing this table,
- 11:46Speaker 6: you're showing the folks here at thirty two, You're showing
- 11:48Speaker 6: your fan base that, hey, we are willing to make
- 11:51Speaker 6: these moves. But also, let's not act like Jason Roberson
- 11:55Speaker 6: just said no to Seattle. Saint Louis offered multiple picks
- 11:58Speaker 6: and some money.
- 11:58Speaker 4: He said no, he's got some place of mind.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Ottawa offered some pigs and some money. He said no,
- 12:03Speaker 6: So why don't you tell me where you want to go?
- 12:06Speaker 6: And listen, we talk about the taxes all the time,
- 12:08Speaker 6: but it seems like there is this there is this,
- 12:11Speaker 6: I don't want to say collusion, but there is this
- 12:13Speaker 6: belief that the only teams worthy of big free agents
- 12:18Speaker 6: are Tampa, Florida, Vegas, Carolina, Dallas.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:22Speaker 4: Great.
- 12:23Speaker 6: I would also love to join the Big Three in
- 12:25Speaker 6: Miami and win an NBA championship. I would also love
- 12:28Speaker 6: to play for the Seattle Seahawks who just won a
- 12:30Speaker 6: championship last year and not have to do any work right,
- 12:34Speaker 6: that's obvious, that's easy. But if you're a Bobby McMahon
- 12:36Speaker 6: type of player who wants to be here, who wants
- 12:38Speaker 6: to be a cornerstone, foundational piece too, whatever is coming
- 12:43Speaker 6: for Seattle, that is just as an attractive of an
- 12:46Speaker 6: opportunity I think for me.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Now, once upon a time, the Florida Panthers were on
- 12:51Speaker 3: the back burner for preferred destinations, and you have players
- 12:53Speaker 3: saying I want to go to Detroit. And this is
- 12:56Speaker 3: back in the days where they had ISERMN federalv Nicholas Ledstrom.
- 12:59Speaker 3: But in Florida about roughly ten years ago, down a
- 13:02Speaker 3: way to risset, everything built piece by piece, and now
- 13:06Speaker 3: they are a top destination in the NHL. So I
- 13:09Speaker 3: bristle at the fact and the word bristle the notion
- 13:13Speaker 3: that no one wants to come to Seattle because one
- 13:16Speaker 3: nickmahon said, I want to be lead.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I want to be part of the solution.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Number two, I go back to about roughly a year ago,
- 13:22Speaker 3: the athletic granted player's pull. What's the first team on
- 13:25Speaker 3: your no trade clause? Winnipeg won that in a landslide
- 13:29Speaker 3: or lost in a landslide. Wasn't even close. Seattle wasn't
- 13:32Speaker 3: even mentioned of the seven teams that they listened, and
- 13:35Speaker 3: then after that was other Yeah.
- 13:38Speaker 7: I mean, listen, there's two sides to it. There's the
- 13:41Speaker 7: financial side. We've talked a lot about that.
- 13:43Speaker 5: And you're the money guy, you're the businessman, and.
- 13:47Speaker 7: I also have the players mentality in my head as well.
- 13:50Speaker 7: I want what's going to end up in my pocket?
- 13:53Speaker 7: And do I have a chance to win? And your
- 13:55Speaker 7: Florida example, Yeah, a decade ago, no one wanted to
- 13:59Speaker 7: go with there because they weren't winning.
- 14:00Speaker 5: And that has changed.
- 14:01Speaker 7: And so now when you look at this list of Vegas, Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Colorado, Carolina, Edvonton,
- 14:09Speaker 7: these are the top teams that players want to go to,
- 14:11Speaker 7: regardless of the tax situation, because they have a chance
- 14:14Speaker 7: to win. Right, I can go get paid lots of
- 14:17Speaker 7: money in Columbus. Am I gonna win? You know? So
- 14:21Speaker 7: I think that that you've got to balance those two.
- 14:24Speaker 7: And you know, Botto going out and making some aggressive moves.
- 14:27Speaker 7: He's trying to get players in that can help them win.
- 14:30Speaker 7: He can't affect necessarily whether or not this tax is
- 14:34Speaker 7: going to come into into Washington State or not. So
- 14:36Speaker 7: he's got to go get players that can win. But
- 14:38Speaker 7: the other side of that coin is player development. And
- 14:42Speaker 7: I thought that they made some good moves in the
- 14:44Speaker 7: offseason so far. Justin Schultz as a former player coming
- 14:48Speaker 7: back and joined the player development, Vincent Pascal, Patrick, Alvin.
- 14:52Speaker 4: These are all guys that are going to be focused
- 14:54Speaker 4: on developing this youth.
- 14:56Speaker 7: And I think that the team took a big step
- 14:58Speaker 7: forward in player developm But because for this team to win,
- 15:02Speaker 7: it's a combination of those two things.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Fall at about seventeen minutes here into the four pm hour,
- 15:06Speaker 3: finally set here for the first pick, and it appears
- 15:08Speaker 3: that that celebrity is the one and only Justin Bieber
- 15:12Speaker 3: up on stage. He's still kicking around these days, Justin Bieber,
- 15:17Speaker 3: Justin Spieber news hair like didn't he used to have hair?
- 15:20Speaker 5: He's hair.
- 15:21Speaker 4: He traded the two his hair, all right, all right?
- 15:24Speaker 3: So apparently this pick is coming in about a matter
- 15:26Speaker 3: of moments from and the coordney reports it's gonna be
- 15:28Speaker 3: Gavin mckennith'sword, just basically waiting for the coronation of this pick,
- 15:32Speaker 3: and apparently, you know, the levee is going to break
- 15:34Speaker 3: potentially on two, three, four, and five, and we'll see
- 15:36Speaker 3: where the all kind of falls into place here at
- 15:39Speaker 3: number seven. But you know, one thing I thought that
- 15:41Speaker 3: we brought up in our conversation with Jason Gregor, no
- 15:43Speaker 3: movement clauses. The NHL gives these out like candy compared
- 15:47Speaker 3: to the NFL, the NBA, MLB. But it's not a
- 15:50Speaker 3: thing where you can, maybe, I think, put this thing
- 15:52Speaker 3: right back into the box. As the pick is now
- 15:54Speaker 3: officially official. Gavin McKenna off the board, former Penn State.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Years of speculation, finally.
- 16:03Speaker 3: For a Penn state, formerly for medicine. Hat u w
- 16:06Speaker 3: HL folks, He is off to the Maple Leafs.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, good for Toronto. I mean they've struggled mightily.
- 16:12Speaker 8: It's not like that they don't have any superstars there,
- 16:14Speaker 8: so uh, you know, thankfully for the biggest market in Canada,
- 16:17Speaker 8: they finally get a guy they can hang their hat on,
- 16:19Speaker 8: and Gavin mccanna.
- 16:20Speaker 5: It's almost got to break through. Finally, it's huge.
- 16:23Speaker 8: I mean, I think we all felt so bad for
- 16:24Speaker 8: that organization for so long, you know, what also does
- 16:28Speaker 8: prove you can have one of the best players in
- 16:29Speaker 8: the league and not be a Stanley Cup contender. I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 8: and and if you just want to look at Carolina,
- 16:34Speaker 8: Carolina didn't have one player that received one vote for
- 16:37Speaker 8: First or second Team All NHL this season.
- 16:40Speaker 5: Not one.
- 16:41Speaker 8: Now they I mean, they're their number one score thirty
- 16:45Speaker 8: ninth in the league and goals, the number number one
- 16:47Speaker 8: point guy twenty fifth in the league.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Goals.
- 16:49Speaker 8: You can build a team without that guy because finding
- 16:53Speaker 8: that guy's hard. You need a bunch of guys that
- 16:55Speaker 8: are at one a's. But you don't have to have
- 16:57Speaker 8: Austin Matthews to win the Stanley Cup. But I think
- 17:00Speaker 8: that's as so you kind of look through here, what's
- 17:02Speaker 8: gonna happen over the next couple of years in Seattle.
- 17:05Speaker 8: Ten players over five drafts have already made their debut
- 17:07Speaker 8: with the Cracking in the NHL, and we're probably gonna see.
- 17:09Speaker 4: A couple more next year as well.
- 17:11Speaker 8: It's an important day coming up, it's an important two
- 17:13Speaker 8: days coming up today tomorrow.
- 17:14Speaker 6: And you know what, it's not always about money too.
- 17:15Speaker 6: We talked a lot about Jason Robertson turning down fifteen
- 17:18Speaker 6: million dollars. But it still rings true in this current
- 17:21Speaker 6: I mean not the current era. Ever, there has been
- 17:23Speaker 6: narry a player in n Edshell history with over a
- 17:27Speaker 6: nine to nine aav to win a Stanley Cup. So
- 17:30Speaker 6: just because you have the pocketbook doesn't mean you're gonna
- 17:34Speaker 6: go out. Mean you've got You've got Neelander, You've got Matthews,
- 17:37Speaker 6: you had Marner, you've got Riley, Yo Tavares. Now McKennon,
- 17:42Speaker 6: you're McKenna. You're not guaranteed to lift the cup at
- 17:45Speaker 6: the end of the year.
- 17:46Speaker 8: It's interesting to say that it's the drafts in Buffalo.
- 17:48Speaker 8: This is Josh Allen factor. Yeah, it is the quarterback
- 17:51Speaker 8: factor in the NFL. Ever, it's a great point because
- 17:53Speaker 8: you know when you start taking up all your salary
- 17:55Speaker 8: cap space on a certain player. So why Patrick Mahomes
- 17:58Speaker 8: has always tried to take a little less money, Now
- 18:00Speaker 8: he's taken more. Let's see where it goes with Kansas City.
- 18:02Speaker 8: That's a that's a really big point. Big money doesn't
- 18:05Speaker 8: always mean you're gonna win a cup. Listen, we all,
- 18:08Speaker 8: I don't think anybody here wouldn't have We'd all like
- 18:09Speaker 8: to see Jason Robertson here, of course, and I think
- 18:11Speaker 8: it's important to point out again he gave the middle
- 18:15Speaker 8: finger to not just Seattle, but Saint Louis and a
- 18:18Speaker 8: number of other teams as well. For some reason, the
- 18:20Speaker 8: crack and the team that people want to bring up
- 18:23Speaker 8: all the time. I mentioned, we're the Caitlin Clark of
- 18:27Speaker 8: the NHL, Like you want to just keep the forearm
- 18:30Speaker 8: to the neck in the NHS.
- 18:32Speaker 4: Let's let's find somebody to go after.
- 18:34Speaker 8: Jason Bottle's got a big job, but with ownership support,
- 18:37Speaker 8: and if the ownership is gonna say it, we're gonna
- 18:39Speaker 8: spend fifteen mil on this guy. You know that they're
- 18:42Speaker 8: trying to get this thing done and done right. And
- 18:43Speaker 8: I think that's the most important.
- 18:45Speaker 6: And that's one thing you can never say that hasn't
- 18:47Speaker 6: been a true statement ownership has said from day one,
- 18:51Speaker 6: Toddliwicki and Sam and before is passing David Bonderman, everyone
- 18:56Speaker 6: who is in charge in this building has said we
- 18:58Speaker 6: will spend the money right. He will give you the
- 19:00Speaker 6: necessary resources that it takes to build a winner. And
- 19:04Speaker 6: I said it again, I'm gonna say it a million
- 19:06Speaker 6: more times during the show. The fact that Jason has
- 19:09Speaker 6: taken these swings. Yes he's missed, but he's showing that
- 19:13Speaker 6: he's willing to take the swings to offer the money.
- 19:15Speaker 6: For me, that's the definition of aggressive. Aggressive doesn't always
- 19:19Speaker 6: need the net result.
- 19:21Speaker 5: It's the action of doing something.
- 19:23Speaker 6: In the Kraken right now, are in action trying to
- 19:27Speaker 6: improve this team in a drastic way.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Also with pick seven coming up here, I mean, we're
- 19:31Speaker 3: gonna find out very very soon this pick is going
- 19:33Speaker 3: to be in place still or do the crack and
- 19:35Speaker 3: use it. And given the fact that this thing was
- 19:38Speaker 3: in the news cycle for the last twenty four hours,
- 19:40Speaker 3: there is still a quality defenseman maybe out there is again.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Gavin McKenna is off the board here to Toronto, and
- 19:46Speaker 3: we'll see where Evar Stenberg falls into place. But what
- 19:49Speaker 3: a surprise to see that pick traded Now I listened.
- 19:54Speaker 7: I think right up until the draft or the pick
- 19:55Speaker 7: is made, I wouldn't surprise me based on what's happened
- 19:58Speaker 7: this week. And you know, I think that that aggressiveness
- 20:02Speaker 7: has to continue. You can't stop it prior to the draft,
- 20:05Speaker 7: and you can't stop it through free agency. You've got
- 20:08Speaker 7: to continue doing it. And I know I like the
- 20:10Speaker 7: comment that Ian made about the Carolina Panthers and you know,
- 20:14Speaker 7: not having those superstars on their team. Look what happened
- 20:16Speaker 7: in year two with the crackt Yeah, you know, not
- 20:19Speaker 7: a lot of superstars deep into the playoffs. So I
- 20:22Speaker 7: think that it's just as important to find the right guys, yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 7: the gel together as it is to find the guy
- 20:29Speaker 7: And I know that we're kind of up against it,
- 20:30Speaker 7: but that's one of those things.
- 20:32Speaker 5: And this is an argument that I have all the time.
- 20:35Speaker 6: I don't necessarily buy into the narrative of the worst
- 20:38Speaker 6: thing that could have happened was for the Cracking to
- 20:39Speaker 6: make the playoffs. I think that in the NHL now,
- 20:42Speaker 6: this league has turned into a win now league, And
- 20:45Speaker 6: I feel like, for me, the goalposts are allowed to
- 20:48Speaker 6: move once you make it to game seven, once you
- 20:51Speaker 6: defeat the Stanley Cup champion, you get to within nine
- 20:54Speaker 6: seconds of overtime. In Game seven in Dallas, Jordan Everly's
- 20:58Speaker 6: stick is six inches higher. We're still playing in overtime, right.
- 21:01Speaker 6: The goalposts are allowed to move once you make that run.
- 21:05Speaker 6: Then I think you're a playoff team. Now you have
- 21:07Speaker 6: to work on those pieces.
- 21:09Speaker 5: To improve your team.
- 21:10Speaker 6: So again, a lot of folks disagree with me in that,
- 21:13Speaker 6: but I think once you made the playoffs, yet may
- 21:16Speaker 6: have accelerated this build a bit.
- 21:18Speaker 5: But I felt like you should have leaned into the
- 21:21Speaker 5: playoff a little bit more fits you. I know, break listen.
- 21:24Speaker 4: That's so well said.
- 21:26Speaker 8: For anybody who says making the playoffs is not important,
- 21:29Speaker 8: then why are you watching the sport?
- 21:31Speaker 4: Yeah, why are you involved in the sport? Bull her Edwards,
- 21:34Speaker 4: it was play to win the game.
- 21:36Speaker 8: And with the goaltending they have here and the way
- 21:38Speaker 8: Ruby bounce back last season, like you want, get in,
- 21:42Speaker 8: Just get in, Just get in.
- 21:43Speaker 5: And remember this city. Remember that that month, Remember.
- 21:47Speaker 6: That month when we made when we were in the playoffs,
- 21:49Speaker 6: the watch parties, we were on the road, we were playing,
- 21:51Speaker 6: it was electric. I mean, it's from from year zero
- 21:56Speaker 6: to the end of year two. That was phenomenal. This city,
- 22:00Speaker 6: these fans deserve that again. And that's why I am
- 22:03Speaker 6: all on board for this retool, not a rebuild. I'm
- 22:07Speaker 6: not trying to strip this down to the stuts.
- 22:10Speaker 3: You all remember what the Seahawks and what Lumen Fields
- 22:15Speaker 3: sounded like during the playoffs. You remember, many of you
- 22:19Speaker 3: what the Mariners sounded like. In the postseason. Are you
- 22:22Speaker 3: know our cohort jackson Feld said it sounds like third
- 22:24Speaker 3: down at Lumen And this is back in the first inning.
- 22:27Speaker 3: We all know, we all know what climate Pledgerina sounded
- 22:31Speaker 3: like back in the playoffs in twenty twenty three.
- 22:34Speaker 4: It was absolutely captivating. So the beat rolls on right now.
- 22:37Speaker 3: News reporting from Pierre Lebron by the way, JJ Patrika
- 22:40Speaker 3: to Boston for a pair of first round draft picks.
- 22:43Speaker 3: We're seeing that goes through, but so far the first
- 22:45Speaker 3: pick is off the board to Toronto Gavin McKenna.
- 22:48Speaker 4: San Jose is on the clock.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Our coverage continues after this right here from thirty two
- 22:52Speaker 3: Bar and Grill for the twenty twenty six NHL Draft
- 22:55Speaker 3: on ninety three three KJRFIN. Now back to the NHL
- 23:12Speaker 3: Draft Show with your host, Mike Benton, live from thirty
- 23:15Speaker 3: two Bar and Grill, presented by your home for the
- 23:18Speaker 3: Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ R FM.
- 23:24Speaker 3: The wheels are emotion right now as we are back
- 23:26Speaker 3: here for Day one coverage from thirty two Bar and
- 23:29Speaker 3: Real for the NHL Draft. Mike benton Ian freness evere
- 23:31Speaker 3: fits you, Al Koniski evar Stenberg off the board to
- 23:34Speaker 3: San Jose in the second overall pick. The Vancouver Canucks
- 23:38Speaker 3: are on the board. Plus, we are receiving word Darren
- 23:41Speaker 3: Dreger reporting that Pavel Dora Feya will be traded from
- 23:45Speaker 3: Vegas to the New York Rangers. It is still in
- 23:48Speaker 3: the works right now. We'll get you more updates on
- 23:50Speaker 3: this here in just a bit. But we're just team
- 23:53Speaker 3: that doesn't care like I mean that they want to win.
- 23:56Speaker 5: They don't. They want to win now.
- 23:58Speaker 6: They don't care if you just score thirty five forty goals.
- 24:01Speaker 6: They they want to win now. And this says to
- 24:04Speaker 6: me they're clearing up roster space and cap space for
- 24:07Speaker 6: a Robertson or a Larket.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Now.
- 24:09Speaker 8: Yeah, they're not doing this in a vacuum. No, like,
- 24:10Speaker 8: they're not doing this in a vacuum. They're saying, hey,
- 24:12Speaker 8: you know, hey, Papal, thanks for a nice, great year.
- 24:15Speaker 8: I know you scored basically every power play goal, power
- 24:17Speaker 8: play guy and thirty goals whatever. Yeah, but you're gone
- 24:19Speaker 8: because as you said, it's it's probably one of those
- 24:22Speaker 8: two guys that they're clearing and if if he ends up,
- 24:24Speaker 8: if it ends up being Robertson. Then we all know
- 24:26Speaker 8: what was all on the plan in the last cous
- 24:28Speaker 8: car forty ers And I think actually that looks better
- 24:30Speaker 8: for Seattle in the end too.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Yea, Like he's trying to pay his way to go there.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Yeah, part of his reason for saying no, it wasn't
- 24:36Speaker 7: just his reasons for not coming to Seattle. It's where
- 24:38Speaker 7: he wanted to go. He had, he had destination.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Third overall pick is Caleb Malholtrode just off the board
- 24:44Speaker 3: to the Vancouver Canucks. And what auster where that is
- 24:47Speaker 3: as well? Manny, by the way, his father is in
- 24:49Speaker 3: the organization as well.
- 24:50Speaker 6: Yeah, Manny maunholtra just named head coach of the Vancouver Canucks.
- 24:53Speaker 6: And I think Manny too longtime NHLA. You talk about
- 24:57Speaker 6: a person who's worked his way up from assisting coach,
- 25:00Speaker 6: scouting special assistant to the assistant like he has done
- 25:04Speaker 6: every role. He was the head coach of Abbotsford up
- 25:07Speaker 6: in the American Hockey League, he won the championship the
- 25:09Speaker 6: Calder with with Abbey a few years ago, and now
- 25:12Speaker 6: he gets to draft his son.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Though I will say this, Caleb Malhotra.
- 25:20Speaker 6: By all accounts, is deserved of this, of this third
- 25:25Speaker 6: overall pick, this isn't a hey, we're gonna draft your
- 25:28Speaker 6: son to make you happy. He has earned his spot
- 25:31Speaker 6: with Branford in the OHL and this is a wonderful story.
- 25:34Speaker 6: He's gonna have potentially an opportunity.
- 25:37Speaker 5: To coach aside.
- 25:37Speaker 3: So who could still be there right now? If you
- 25:39Speaker 3: want an offenseman, it's looking more and more real. Maybe
- 25:42Speaker 3: if the Crack can hang on to pick number seven.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Buffalo is on the clock right now at fourth overall.
- 25:46Speaker 3: But Gay Flaming is a longtime host the Pipeline show
- 25:49Speaker 3: covering Prospect to Prospect, and he joined us earlier in
- 25:53Speaker 3: the Beacon Plumbing Hotline with his thoughts on who could
- 25:55Speaker 3: be going off the board this year. I think this year,
- 25:59Speaker 3: if you can to previous years or most years, I
- 26:02Speaker 3: would say the top end is still really good, but
- 26:04Speaker 3: it kind of peters out like I don't think it
- 26:06Speaker 3: has the depth of most years.
- 26:09Speaker 4: That's said.
- 26:09Speaker 10: I mean, you guys are picking top ten, so you're
- 26:11Speaker 10: happy with that at least you know asterisk.
- 26:14Speaker 4: As of now.
- 26:16Speaker 10: But you know with Gavin McKenna, you say consent is
- 26:18Speaker 10: number one. I mean, I've seen lots of people out
- 26:20Speaker 10: there who think Stenberg could go number one, although I
- 26:23Speaker 10: do believe Toronto just from a marketing perspective, I think
- 26:27Speaker 10: they have to almost take McKenna and that's not going
- 26:31Speaker 10: to get a mistake. He's a really talented player. As
- 26:35Speaker 10: for the Western Hockey League, I could see upwards of
- 26:37Speaker 10: seven or eight guys going in the first round. But
- 26:40Speaker 10: I think this year, once you get past probably fifteen
- 26:43Speaker 10: or sixteen.
- 26:44Speaker 4: It opens up.
- 26:45Speaker 10: And I think we say that for most years, but
- 26:47Speaker 10: this year seems to be even more of the case
- 26:50Speaker 10: where you could have a mix of the next forty
- 26:52Speaker 10: guys in some sort of combination, and whether that leads
- 26:57Speaker 10: to five or six guys out of the WHL or ten,
- 27:01Speaker 10: it's I mean, it's totally up in there.
- 27:03Speaker 4: That was key flaming of the pipeline show.
- 27:05Speaker 3: More of that conversation by the Way podcast on the
- 27:08Speaker 3: Crack and Audio Network via the iHeartRadio app, and we'll
- 27:10Speaker 3: get to more of this weekend. State your case for
- 27:13Speaker 3: pick number seven should the cracket hang on to that
- 27:15Speaker 3: right now as Buffalo is on the clock at fourth. Overall,
- 27:18Speaker 3: but there's still a plethora, a cornercopia of talent out there,
- 27:23Speaker 3: especially on the top end defenseman wise with a crack
- 27:27Speaker 3: and have never made that kind of a pick before.
- 27:29Speaker 4: And a few names that come to mind for me maybe.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Carson Carl's WHL, Keaton Verhof WHL to NCAA guy, and
- 27:36Speaker 3: even Albert Smith's as well out of Europe.
- 27:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll go ahead out I was gonna say keithan Veroff.
- 27:41Speaker 7: But one of the biggest guys in the draft six
- 27:43Speaker 7: four to two sixteen right shot d He's gonna be
- 27:46Speaker 7: attractive to many teams.
- 27:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I like Albert Schmidt's, if not just for the
- 27:51Speaker 6: fact that he's probably the most NHL ready prospect.
- 27:54Speaker 5: He's played against.
- 27:55Speaker 6: Men over in Europe with Mannheim and the d EL,
- 27:59Speaker 6: the most NHL ready player six three two oh five
- 28:05Speaker 6: is where he.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Is, So I like that possibility.
- 28:07Speaker 6: Now, obviously we talk a lot about defenseman in the
- 28:10Speaker 6: NHL take a lot longer to develop than forwards. But
- 28:14Speaker 6: the last couple of years we've seen Matthew Schaeffer, we've
- 28:16Speaker 6: seen Lane Hudson, defensemen who have now made very strong
- 28:20Speaker 6: impacts early on in their NHL career.
- 28:23Speaker 5: So I like Albert Smiths for that reason.
- 28:25Speaker 8: Well, I think the other thing too is there's It's
- 28:28Speaker 8: a lot of things are in play right now for Seattle.
- 28:31Speaker 8: If you want to just kind of look at the
- 28:33Speaker 8: rumors out there, the names are being tossed around. Shane Wright,
- 28:36Speaker 8: Jfobbrian are both guys and other teams are are looking
- 28:39Speaker 8: at and Jared McCann's name. That seventh pick is very
- 28:43Speaker 8: much in play. By the way, Caleb Maholtra last year
- 28:47Speaker 8: was roommates with Jacob Brian Seales number one p last year,
- 28:49Speaker 8: well Brian, the number one score for Branford number two
- 28:52Speaker 8: was Maholtra about nine points behind him. So I did
- 28:55Speaker 8: a little bit of a connection there. But Seattle's never
- 28:58Speaker 8: taken a defenseman in the first round. Yeah, And if
- 29:00Speaker 8: we're being honest, the probably the place that they're lacking
- 29:03Speaker 8: the most depth right now in the organization in terms
- 29:05Speaker 8: of young players coming up as a blue line like
- 29:07Speaker 8: al said, and a right shot defenseman if he's there,
- 29:10Speaker 8: would be awful appealing to bring up defenseman. If they
- 29:14Speaker 8: do keep that seventh pick is probably almost assuredly where
- 29:16Speaker 8: they're gonna go.
- 29:17Speaker 7: And because it takes longer for them to develop, the
- 29:20Speaker 7: high likelihood it might be Albert Smith because he's ready
- 29:23Speaker 7: to go we'll.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Open the door here for the conversation on this as
- 29:25Speaker 3: we'll state our case for the seventh overall pick coming
- 29:27Speaker 3: up at Emily Kaplin of the ESPN reporting here the
- 29:30Speaker 3: dora Fey of trade according to her source, the number
- 29:33Speaker 3: twenty six pick tonight, a third round pick this year
- 29:36Speaker 3: and a conditional first round pick as well in twenty
- 29:39Speaker 3: twenty eight. That's what brought back Pavel dora Fea from
- 29:42Speaker 3: Vegas to the New York Rangers. We stayed our case
- 29:45Speaker 3: for seventh overall after this the crack and hang on
- 29:48Speaker 3: to that pick. As of right now, Buffalo is still
- 29:51Speaker 3: on the clock at fourth overall. Back with more after
- 29:54Speaker 3: this right here from thirty two barn Real on ninety
- 29:56Speaker 3: three to three KJRFM.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Now back to the.
- 30:11Speaker 1: NHL Draft Show with your host Mike Benton, live from
- 30:14Speaker 1: thirty two Bar and Grill presented by your home for
- 30:17Speaker 1: the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.
- 30:23Speaker 3: We're rolling in two pick number five. Shortly the Rangers
- 30:26Speaker 3: are on the clock. We have so far as seeing
- 30:28Speaker 3: Gavin McKenna go to Toronto, Evar Stenberg, San Jose, Cable Malhotra,
- 30:32Speaker 3: Vancouver and now Daxon, Rudolph out of Prince Albert to
- 30:36Speaker 3: the Buffalo Sabers, the Kraken are three picks away. Mike
- 30:40Speaker 3: benton Ian Farnesse everet fits you, al Kiniski. We're gonna
- 30:43Speaker 3: get to the chase right now and state your case
- 30:45Speaker 3: for the seventh overall pick. And I think with Rudolph
- 30:48Speaker 3: going off the board, it now leads potentially a great
- 30:51Speaker 3: to a stud defenseman that you can take from that pick.
- 30:54Speaker 3: I'll jump into it right now. I love Keaton Verhoff,
- 30:57Speaker 3: the Krack and need defense, they need upside. He checks
- 31:00Speaker 3: those boxes off. Right shot, d six foot four comparisons
- 31:04Speaker 3: maybe Drew Dowdy. That sounds way too good for me
- 31:07Speaker 3: to pass up. I'll go Chase Reed Susse Marie.
- 31:10Speaker 8: Right shot defenseman, maybe the most skilled defenseman in terms
- 31:13Speaker 8: of the best shot among them, and a lot of
- 31:15Speaker 8: people had him ranked as a top maybe the top
- 31:18Speaker 8: player in the draft. He's not McKenna, he's not Mahultra.
- 31:22Speaker 8: He's not And why do we have to call him?
- 31:24Speaker 8: Is ivor isn't it?
- 31:25Speaker 4: Come on? I heard Ivar, then I heard Evar. If
- 31:30Speaker 4: you would have been drafted here he be iv Ever
- 31:32Speaker 4: hanging out the fish place.
- 31:33Speaker 3: But yeah, the marketing potentials would have been then I will,
- 31:36Speaker 3: I mean, and I know, go back to Smit's too.
- 31:39Speaker 4: But Smit's are read to me is the guy, and
- 31:41Speaker 4: I'll say this, I want him to trade it.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna go Smit's too. I'm with you, first
- 31:46Speaker 5: of all, Ian, I listen.
- 31:47Speaker 6: I want them to trade the pick, and if you
- 31:50Speaker 6: can get something to improve your team, now I would
- 31:53Speaker 6: take that route. But if you're gonna keep the pick,
- 31:55Speaker 6: I would go Albert Smitz because he is the most
- 31:58Speaker 6: NHL ready player on the Yes, he's a left shot defenseman.
- 32:01Speaker 6: You'd like to have a righty in that lineup. But
- 32:03Speaker 6: I think when you look at six three two oh five,
- 32:06Speaker 6: he's played a UH pro over in Europe. He had
- 32:09Speaker 6: thirteen points UH in in Lega this year. He had
- 32:12Speaker 6: some time in the de l as well, had a
- 32:14Speaker 6: couple of assists in four Olympic games with Latvia. So
- 32:18Speaker 6: he's been playing against men European pro hockey. What's the
- 32:21Speaker 6: one thing we talked a lot about with Oscar Fisker Mouleguard.
- 32:24Speaker 6: A lot of players said he had a very short
- 32:27Speaker 6: learning curve because he played against men over in Europe. Well, now,
- 32:31Speaker 6: Albert Smith's been doing the same thing, and I think
- 32:33Speaker 6: a guy like that potentially could be challenging for a
- 32:36Speaker 6: spot here in Seattle out of the of training camp,
- 32:39Speaker 6: whereas some of these other guys may have to go
- 32:41Speaker 6: to North Dakota, they may have to go back to
- 32:43Speaker 6: their junior team for a year.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Potentially, Do I bend it to Edmonton for Connor McDavid one?
- 32:57Speaker 7: For one?
- 32:58Speaker 4: Howard Smith is at the board of the Ranger? Is
- 33:00Speaker 4: that fifth overall?
- 33:01Speaker 5: Else? Why do I know?
- 33:03Speaker 7: Well, listen, you know I'm gonna go HL And I
- 33:05Speaker 7: like Keaton Veroff. I love his size, but Mikey you
- 33:08Speaker 7: picked him, So I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Carson
- 33:10Speaker 7: Carrell's with Prince George six seventy three points this season.
- 33:15Speaker 7: But the thing I like about him is of the
- 33:17Speaker 7: top thirty two players, he's probably your third best skater
- 33:20Speaker 7: and your third best hockey IQ guy in those top
- 33:24Speaker 7: thirty two, and most of the ones and twos are
- 33:26Speaker 7: already off the board. So I like Carson Carrels and.
- 33:28Speaker 3: You're gonna be seeing someone right now, I think Fallow
- 33:31Speaker 3: the krackend where they would be a terrific pick. I
- 33:33Speaker 3: mean when you talk about Chase Reed and his instant
- 33:36Speaker 3: in his instinct, some said he could have gone second.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Even one projection said first overall if you want to
- 33:41Speaker 3: get really well and crazy here, But Caton Beerhofs got
- 33:43Speaker 3: that same kind of package. I love Carson Carrells and
- 33:46Speaker 3: what he can bring kind of like a throwback maybe,
- 33:48Speaker 3: but yeah, he's a good pass shot.
- 33:50Speaker 4: Yeah yeah.
- 33:51Speaker 6: And also with Carson Carells is a leader, good character guy,
- 33:53Speaker 6: good leader, and and I think ever since day one
- 33:56Speaker 6: that has been something that this organization has prided themselves on.
- 34:00Speaker 6: A lot of former captains, a lot of former Letter
- 34:03Speaker 6: A wearers, if you will, former champions here with the
- 34:06Speaker 6: kraken in the organization from.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Top to bottom. So I think he does fit that
- 34:10Speaker 5: high character mode.
- 34:11Speaker 7: Carrels does as well. Twenty goals in fifty eight games
- 34:14Speaker 7: isn't nothing to Chicken had at either. I mean, he's
- 34:16Speaker 7: a d man fifty eight games.
- 34:18Speaker 4: Here's the thing, if they keep the pick, they're gonna
- 34:22Speaker 4: get a really good player.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Hang on, I think Calgary just traded the beat. I
- 34:28Speaker 5: think they did to Gary.
- 34:31Speaker 4: Bettman is right on stage drama.
- 34:35Speaker 3: We are awaiting the drama and the kracking will pick seven.
- 34:40Speaker 3: But we'll wait to see what happens if this is
- 34:42Speaker 3: all kind of breaking in real time right now.
- 34:44Speaker 6: So Calgary betman's up to announce the trade from Calgary,
- 34:53Speaker 6: so j J Paterca.
- 34:56Speaker 5: So they're they're announcing the Paca trade.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not a it's not a Calgary trade now, Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 4: pull it up, Okay, Jess.
- 35:03Speaker 11: We're gonna go to the turn round now to the
- 35:05Speaker 11: one hundreds in exchange for a pick number twenty three
- 35:11Speaker 11: in this year's draft and a conditional first.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Round pick in the twenty twenty eight NHL Draft. Paterca
- 35:21Speaker 2: from Utah and Boston for a pick twenty three and
- 35:25Speaker 2: a conditional first So we in this early year.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Let me, let me just tell you what you're doing,
- 35:31Speaker 4: let me and.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, So that they're recapping the trades. Here, the
- 35:37Speaker 5: Calgary's on the clock.
- 35:37Speaker 8: Here's what they're doing. Let's go behind the curtain for
- 35:39Speaker 8: a second. Everything. Everyt's also doing the TV at times,
- 35:42Speaker 8: like I am. They're getting to the top of the hour. Yeah,
- 35:46Speaker 8: they're announcing these trades to get to the top of
- 35:47Speaker 8: the top of our break. And so see how he's
- 35:49Speaker 8: gonna pick after five o'clock. They're just the housekeeping is
- 35:51Speaker 8: done for television purposes only. Yeah, we're still good.
- 35:55Speaker 4: We're still good. We're still good. But we're gonna go back.
- 35:57Speaker 8: We just talked about they're gonna get if they keep
- 35:59Speaker 8: this pick Seattle at seven, they're gonna get one of
- 36:03Speaker 8: a couple of really good defensemen left.
- 36:05Speaker 4: On the board out.
- 36:05Speaker 7: Yeah, they absolutely are. And I think we've thought that
- 36:08Speaker 7: from the beginning. This this this uh, this year's draft
- 36:11Speaker 7: is d heavy to start with, and there are some
- 36:14Speaker 7: very good ones available.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Chase Reid is there, Carson Carls is there, Keaton Beerhoff
- 36:19Speaker 3: is there. Who's it gonna be that pick us coming
- 36:21Speaker 3: up back after this ninety three three kJ RFM
