- 1:30Speaker 4: presented by FANDO Sportsbook, America's number one sportsbook. Will has
- 1:33Speaker 4: a read here. He's not here today now. If you're
- 1:35Speaker 4: watching this on Tuesday, you ought to know that tonight
- 1:38Speaker 4: is another Michigan versus Nebraska showdown. Not football, but two
- 1:41Speaker 4: very strong college basketball teams. Me one slightly stronger than
- 1:45Speaker 4: the other. I say, looking at Will with piercing eyes.
- 1:47Speaker 4: That's on in the car. I just wanted to tell
- 1:48Speaker 4: you that if you open up the Fando Sportsbook Gap
- 1:50Speaker 4: today you'll find a solid fifty percent Nebraska versus Michigan
- 1:54Speaker 4: pbt you can also get. You can also use that
- 1:58Speaker 4: on whatever type of bet you want. But if you're
- 2:00Speaker 4: walking with the Boys, you'll go with Michigan. Obviously Will
- 2:05Speaker 4: is going to go Nebraska, but we've also got a
- 2:07Speaker 4: little side action going on here as well. Make sure
- 2:10Speaker 4: you visit fando dot com, slash bus and often to
- 2:12Speaker 4: that promo and place yourself a bet on one of
- 2:15Speaker 4: the biggest games in college football. If you guys want
- 2:18Speaker 4: a little breakdown on those games, I gave it to
- 2:20Speaker 4: you on Monday's recap. It's as much as I know
- 2:23Speaker 4: about basketball. I gave you everything I had. I put
- 2:25Speaker 4: my absolute heart out there. If you don't love it,
- 2:27Speaker 4: and you're a basketball lover, hey, listen, man, that's live.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Bam bam, bam bam. Frank Sinatra said that first Now,
- 2:33Speaker 4: this weekend took place in Nashville, Tennessee. It took place
- 2:36Speaker 4: all over the world, but in Nashville specifically, we had
- 2:39Speaker 4: an ice storm. Hundreds of thousands of people are without
- 2:42Speaker 4: power right now. We're putting them in our thoughts and prayers.
- 2:45Speaker 4: We break all that down with our guests today. You'll
- 2:47Speaker 4: see our guest Josh Pate. He is a great weatherman.
- 2:50Speaker 4: He knows all of the things. It's absolutely incredible. But
- 2:53Speaker 4: our hearts go out to everybody that is dealing with
- 2:56Speaker 4: power outages, food supplies, staying warm. It's like it's a
- 2:59Speaker 4: very very difficult time on this bus. We've had a
- 3:02Speaker 4: couple guys in the back right now, Jeremy Clump, Jack McPherson,
- 3:06Speaker 4: Mitch Carsley. The boys are sitting back here. Made a
- 3:10Speaker 4: trek just to get this podcast done. Why we love you,
- 3:13Speaker 4: We love the viewer, We love this job. Will was
- 3:16Speaker 4: unable to make it. A handful of other guys were
- 3:17Speaker 4: able to make it. But we have a nice little
- 3:19Speaker 4: skeleton crew to try to brighten up your day in
- 3:21Speaker 4: terms of chaos. If you're one of the states, cities,
- 3:24Speaker 4: places that have been affected by these insane storms, which
- 3:27Speaker 4: seems like it's over half of the country that has
- 3:29Speaker 4: gotten hit pretty hard. This weekend or Wednesday last week,
- 3:34Speaker 4: Will and I headed over to Samcom in La. It
- 3:37Speaker 4: was a great time we had, but light out there.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Neutral was out there, First Form South Forsella was there.
- 3:42Speaker 4: We had a great time. We had the opportunity to
- 3:44Speaker 4: go on stage. We had ourselves a nice little script.
- 3:46Speaker 4: And what they're telling us about the Samcom event, it's
- 3:48Speaker 4: a four or five day long week. Everybody getting together.
- 3:51Speaker 4: They're having a good time. They're breaking bread, they're having
- 3:53Speaker 4: a couple of drinks. So this crowd is on their
- 3:56Speaker 4: last day before Samcom is all over. We were told
- 4:01Speaker 4: crowd might be a little stiff. Okay, they've had late nights,
- 4:03Speaker 4: they've had early mornings. They're out there networking, have a
- 4:06Speaker 4: good time. Think of all the things you do when
- 4:07Speaker 4: you're trying to network in La for Samcom. Well, I
- 4:11Speaker 4: go out there. We have a script that we go
- 4:13Speaker 4: over for about five minutes. Steve Wolf, he's out there
- 4:16Speaker 4: helping with Neutral and Boys. I'll say we got a
- 4:19Speaker 4: couple of good laughs, got a couple of good laughs
- 4:23Speaker 4: from a crowd that seemed like they were't going to
- 4:24Speaker 4: be a great crowd, end up being a phenomenal crowd,
- 4:26Speaker 4: and the Samcom event was absolutely incredible. From that moment,
- 4:30Speaker 4: we get done a little bit early. I have a
- 4:32Speaker 4: flight leaving later in the afternoon to Vegas to spend
- 4:34Speaker 4: one day there. We were going to do a whole
- 4:36Speaker 4: vlog with zoof of boxing, gambling and obviously UFC three
- 4:40Speaker 4: twenty four that took place on Paramount. But with these
- 4:44Speaker 4: storms coming in, my wife and my two kids, they're
- 4:47Speaker 4: at home. I want to make sure that I'm there
- 4:49Speaker 4: for them. So my decision was, I'm already in LA,
- 4:52Speaker 4: I'll go for one night. I'll fly out the next day,
- 4:55Speaker 4: get in and out.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Boom.
- 4:57Speaker 4: So I get on a quick flight, we cruise over there,
- 5:00Speaker 4: hang out with Dana and the fellows. We get a
- 5:01Speaker 4: nice fun night on our hands. I wake up the
- 5:03Speaker 4: next morning, I jump on a plane, and I'm so
- 5:06Speaker 4: grateful that I jumped on that plane. Because Saturday happens
- 5:11Speaker 4: a little bit of a storm, nothing too crazy. Sunday
- 5:13Speaker 4: morning power starts to go out everywhere, ice starts to fall.
- 5:16Speaker 4: It's a full breakdown in here with Josh pay of
- 5:18Speaker 4: how catastrophic this storm really was and how a lot
- 5:21Speaker 4: of people from the North. I lived in the North
- 5:23Speaker 4: for four years, being at the University of Michigan and
- 5:25Speaker 4: in Arbor snow falls all the time. There's always winter
- 5:28Speaker 4: storms taking place, and the North people just understand how
- 5:31Speaker 4: to operate with snow. And Nashville, as much as I've
- 5:34Speaker 4: been here, we've gotten better and better at the Snow Park.
- 5:36Speaker 4: This is not a snowstorm. This is an ice storm.
- 5:40Speaker 4: And it's incredibly chaotic and beautiful at the same time.
- 5:44Speaker 4: And I say that in a weird way because there's
- 5:46Speaker 4: so much chaos. People's lives are being so affected. I
- 5:49Speaker 4: woke up this morning seeing trees drooped down by ice,
- 5:53Speaker 4: and there's such a level of calm with all the
- 5:55Speaker 4: power outages taking place with no cars on the road,
- 5:59Speaker 4: that it's a weird beauty about it. But it takes
- 6:02Speaker 4: so much away from all of us. It's just insane, man,
- 6:07Speaker 4: to see all these people being affected, and it truly sucks.
- 6:09Speaker 4: But I'm glad I got left the West to get
- 6:12Speaker 4: back to my family because I would feel horrible if
- 6:15Speaker 4: I was not there with them. So I guess we're
- 6:18Speaker 4: going to start off for a little clean take. Clean take.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Let's have a clean take real quick. And I think
- 6:22Speaker 4: that's just being there for people when they need you most,
- 6:25Speaker 4: being there for people when they need you most. I
- 6:27Speaker 4: have a neighbor who has a pacemaker. Their power is out.
- 6:32Speaker 4: We're lucky enough to have a generator at our house,
- 6:34Speaker 4: so our house is for the most part powered, but
- 6:37Speaker 4: we're the only one I feel like within a mile
- 6:40Speaker 4: that has unless they have a generator as well that
- 6:41Speaker 4: has power. My neighbor has a pacemaker that needs to
- 6:44Speaker 4: be charged. So this morning, before I even got there,
- 6:48Speaker 4: I came to the shop. My wife sends me a text, Hey,
- 6:50Speaker 4: you got to go to the neighbor's house. You got
- 6:51Speaker 4: to grab their pacemaker so we can charge it for
- 6:53Speaker 4: them in order for him. Essentially, this guy's got to
- 6:56Speaker 4: stay alive. And we get there, him and his wife
- 6:59Speaker 4: they me at the door. They're kind of explaining to me, Hey,
- 7:02Speaker 4: we appreciate you guys doing this, but easy exchange. Grab
- 7:05Speaker 4: the pacemaker, plug that thing in. Once I get back
- 7:07Speaker 4: from the shop, I'll go bring it back to them.
- 7:09Speaker 4: But just in times of chaos, in times of all
- 7:14Speaker 4: a bunch of bad things happened to a lot of people,
- 7:16Speaker 4: to be able to help is just It's a very
- 7:19Speaker 4: nice feeling. And I would only hope that if somebody
- 7:22Speaker 4: else was in the position that I was in, that
- 7:24Speaker 4: they would do the same thing for me. All the
- 7:25Speaker 4: boys have rallied around each other, the group chests been
- 7:27Speaker 4: firing off, boys have been checking in each other. A
- 7:29Speaker 4: lot of guys don't have power. Jack my fear of
- 7:31Speaker 4: some one of the lucky few to have power right now.
- 7:33Speaker 4: But Jeremy clump making the track thirty minutes? How was
- 7:37Speaker 4: that little drive, buddy? Was that just insane?
- 7:41Speaker 3: It really actually wasn't bad at all.
- 7:42Speaker 5: I have on one like back road I gotta go
- 7:44Speaker 5: through was pretty cleared off, and then I'm mostly highway
- 7:47Speaker 5: the whole way here, and the highway was pretty good
- 7:49Speaker 5: outside of what's the all the way to the left
- 7:51Speaker 5: lane that you guys have the hov they just decided
- 7:55Speaker 5: to not even know they didn't touch it.
- 7:57Speaker 3: That one is just that's ruined.
- 8:00Speaker 5: I don't know when that'll ever be a lane again
- 8:01Speaker 5: in Nashville, but it's it's retired for now, but there's
- 8:04Speaker 5: like two lanes wide open.
- 8:05Speaker 3: The worst road is the one right here.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Yeah, this road right here on the outside, dude, terrible,
- 8:10Speaker 4: that's the worst road other than that. Like I was
- 8:12Speaker 4: driving through all over the city trying to get over here.
- 8:15Speaker 4: There's a bunch of trees knocked down, but the roads
- 8:17Speaker 4: themselves are actually in a good spot in Nashvill's done
- 8:19Speaker 4: a great job of kind of like rallying the troops
- 8:20Speaker 4: and working their ass off to get things powered back up.
- 8:23Speaker 3: The trees are crazy.
- 8:24Speaker 5: I think it might have been your wife who shared
- 8:26Speaker 5: a story on Instagram of like an aerial view of Nashville.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Possible. Dude, It's just crazy and it looks like a
- 8:34Speaker 4: tornado went through.
- 8:35Speaker 5: It literally looks like a tornado through and there's just
- 8:37Speaker 5: ice everywhere.
- 8:38Speaker 4: It's nuts, ma'am, it really is. I've never seen a
- 8:41Speaker 4: storm like this in my entire life. It's one of
- 8:43Speaker 4: the craziest things I've ever witnessed.
- 8:45Speaker 6: Clean take For me, I live closer to downtown, so
- 8:50Speaker 6: there's something like obviously, don't get me wrong, this storm
- 8:53Speaker 6: everybody losing power, like it one hundred percent sucks and
- 8:57Speaker 6: like it's going to take a long time for everything
- 8:59Speaker 6: to get back to normal. But like being downtown and
- 9:02Speaker 6: where I'm at, like I have like a view of
- 9:05Speaker 6: like the skyline. The city was so quiet and nobody
- 9:09Speaker 6: on the roads. It was kind of like an eerie
- 9:13Speaker 6: but cool kind of feeling because you're just looking around
- 9:15Speaker 6: to be like, this is like a hustling a bustle
- 9:17Speaker 6: in city, Like there's always cars going by, sirens and everything,
- 9:20Speaker 6: but it was just dead quiet, and it was actually
- 9:22Speaker 6: kind of like a cool thing to just kind of
- 9:24Speaker 6: stand out on my balcony just like feel like just
- 9:27Speaker 6: see the city in.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Its most raw form.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Yeah, clean take on like eerie feelings about a city.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Clean take in moments of chaos, finding a bit of beauty,
- 9:39Speaker 4: finding a bit of beauty. That's a clean take, Mitch,
- 9:41Speaker 4: I like that take what he said. That's that's a
- 9:43Speaker 4: Kevin Saner food clean take right there. I love it
- 9:46Speaker 4: a lot.
- 9:46Speaker 7: Do you boys got it?
- 9:47Speaker 4: Clean takes? Clean takes out here?
- 9:51Speaker 8: I would double down with yours is clean take. Just
- 9:55Speaker 8: take every opportunity you can to help people out. Like
- 9:58Speaker 8: you said, I was one of the fortunate ones. I
- 10:00Speaker 8: did not lose power. People very close to me lost power.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Two streets away, so almost as like the grid system
- 10:06Speaker 8: shut off right before mine started, which was great.
- 10:09Speaker 7: But we I live next.
- 10:11Speaker 8: Door to one of my really good friends, two of
- 10:13Speaker 8: them actually, and thankfully us not having power, we were
- 10:16Speaker 8: able to host and welcome in a bunch of our
- 10:18Speaker 8: friends who didn't have power, didn't have heat, they have kids,
- 10:22Speaker 8: We had babies running around, so we were just kind
- 10:24Speaker 8: of mixed between we're calling a house a and house
- 10:26Speaker 8: be and just just lett it rip. Everyone's bringing what
- 10:30Speaker 8: they have, their food, their blankets, and so when you
- 10:33Speaker 8: just have an opportunity to get the community together through
- 10:37Speaker 8: a kind of a stressful and chaotic time, take every
- 10:40Speaker 8: opportunity you can just lend a helping hand.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Nice clean take, Jack, clean take, clump, don't fuck this up.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Now we got clean takes going.
- 10:48Speaker 5: On well Heavan's Natural Foods. Clean take is when you
- 10:52Speaker 5: go on a trip or you do something and there's
- 10:54Speaker 5: like those memorable moments that just stick out in your head.
- 10:57Speaker 5: And for me, for Sam Coom, when we went there's
- 11:00Speaker 5: a moment when Taylor looks at me and he's like,
- 11:03Speaker 5: if my day's gonna be bad, I'm gonna ruin someone else.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, and there's.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Just that vibe of having fun in those moments, Like
- 11:09Speaker 5: I just kept playing that story back in my head
- 11:12Speaker 5: the whole weekend, the whole week I guess, and it
- 11:14Speaker 5: was fun.
- 11:14Speaker 4: So yeah, because the trip, like flying out to LA
- 11:17Speaker 4: this time of year when we're still like in the
- 11:19Speaker 4: very busy part, it was extremely inconvenient. There's no way
- 11:22Speaker 4: around like clubs playing the optimism game.
- 11:25Speaker 7: We go out the dinner I got.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I have my gout scares that have stopped me from
- 11:30Speaker 4: like really eating certain kinds of foods. So I go
- 11:33Speaker 4: to this dinner with all the silver Try boys and
- 11:35Speaker 4: I'm looking at the menu. I throw the menu to
- 11:36Speaker 4: chat Gypt It's like, you can't eat any of this shit.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Maybe some salad, that's about it. So we leave the
- 11:41Speaker 4: dinner for like a two hour dinner and I'm fucking starving,
- 11:45Speaker 4: and we get the car men and it's like overtired
- 11:48Speaker 4: giggles and I'm just like, man, fuck this, I'm gonna
- 11:52Speaker 4: make sure everybody else's day around me is ruined. It
- 11:54Speaker 4: for the next twenty four hours. We end up having
- 11:56Speaker 4: a good time though it was fun.
- 11:58Speaker 5: Good time, and then Will was trying to ruin your day.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Then it flipped like the next day because he.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Will was on some ship. I can't remember what
- 12:05Speaker 4: he was saying. Yes, Will took a crazy shot at
- 12:09Speaker 4: Zips when I well, I took a shot on Nashville
- 12:12Speaker 4: about like the food, and I was like, there's not
- 12:14Speaker 4: like a good healthy like quick spot you can go
- 12:17Speaker 4: to around Nashville, like or a multitude of areas that
- 12:20Speaker 4: like elevate like high die, like a high living dining
- 12:24Speaker 4: in Nashville tops to the tops, like fast food like
- 12:28Speaker 4: fried Chicken, unique places, tops the tops. But where's that
- 12:32Speaker 4: middle class? Like I want to go to my local bar,
- 12:35Speaker 4: my local sports bar kind of hangout area and just
- 12:38Speaker 4: really feel it all and like enjoy it. And I
- 12:40Speaker 4: was like, Zips would change everything for Nashville. What am
- 12:44Speaker 4: I off on that?
- 12:45Speaker 8: Jack? I mean there, I don't get me wrong. I
- 12:47Speaker 8: love Zips, the Fasha, the wings. You can't beat it,
- 12:50Speaker 8: can't beat it, especially under that Arizona sun no ice.
- 12:54Speaker 8: But there are a handful of like Jonathan Sports Bar amazing.
- 12:57Speaker 8: I mean it's franchise here, great has upscale dining, good beers,
- 13:02Speaker 8: TVs everywhere. See, you don't even want to have a
- 13:05Speaker 8: conversation about this because your mind is made up. I
- 13:07Speaker 8: agree with you that ZIPS would change it, but there
- 13:09Speaker 8: are options here.
- 13:11Speaker 7: You just don't get out the thing's grill.
- 13:13Speaker 4: It's a sports bar, Yeah, never heard of it.
- 13:15Speaker 8: Why there's like three locations in the greater Nashville area.
- 13:18Speaker 7: But I feel like you don't get out that.
- 13:20Speaker 8: Much, like you're not Taylor Wand you're not gonna find
- 13:23Speaker 8: Taylor Wand at a local national sports form.
- 13:25Speaker 4: If there was a ZIPS, I would be there.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So let me ask you this, why why don't you
- 13:31Speaker 1: become a franchise franchise e franchise owner, franchiser and just
- 13:35Speaker 1: bring one out here?
- 13:36Speaker 4: I would if Zips would approach me with that idea,
- 13:38Speaker 4: I would absolutely love to bring a ZIPS to Nashville.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Is there like a reason it's only in Arizona or
- 13:44Speaker 1: is there like.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Oh, you're talking about the storyline of ZIPS. So there's
- 13:48Speaker 4: a bar called Goldies that is over by a bunch
- 13:51Speaker 4: of baseball fields in Arizona. Goldies is the og Zips.
- 13:54Speaker 4: I don't know what happened, if there was a breakup
- 13:56Speaker 4: that took place, but they are the og like Golden
- 13:58Speaker 4: Wing type of spot that you go to and you're like,
- 14:00Speaker 4: my god, it's incredible. They had a nice little arcade
- 14:02Speaker 4: in the corner that corner, like the old old school,
- 14:05Speaker 4: like you played the Simpsons game, a couple of like
- 14:08Speaker 4: California Cruising type of games, but like very basic, but
- 14:11Speaker 4: you go there after the baseball games go weet there
- 14:14Speaker 4: somewhere in there, mid two thousands, I think like Zips
- 14:17Speaker 4: just start popping the blow blast. I'm definitely getting my
- 14:18Speaker 4: timeline wrong, but it seems like it's just an Arizona staple. Now,
- 14:22Speaker 4: if this Arizona Staple wants to mention over across the country,
- 14:25Speaker 4: over the East and hang out in Nashville, Tennessee, buddy,
- 14:28Speaker 4: call me.
- 14:29Speaker 7: I am in.
- 14:29Speaker 4: I am all in on a Zips coming to Nashville.
- 14:32Speaker 8: I feel like, if you want Zips, you've got to
- 14:34Speaker 8: call them all I'll call them, I know, but like.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Like legitimately with this, I am getting so hungry and
- 14:40Speaker 6: want a Fakasha and Golden Wings extra show its extra crispy.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Could you imagine like a Zips just sit in the
- 14:46Speaker 4: middle of Germantown.
- 14:47Speaker 7: Would you be.
- 14:48Speaker 8: Worried though that, uh, something would be lost in the move,
- 14:53Speaker 8: Like if you move the franchise or like a franchise here.
- 14:56Speaker 7: Do you think it changes?
- 14:57Speaker 8: Like, does the flavor taste different because you're an Arizona.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Good question. I don't think the flavor tastes different. I
- 15:03Speaker 4: would take I would essentially go down and find the
- 15:07Speaker 4: best chefs of Zips and be like, take me through
- 15:10Speaker 4: your process. So when we have to go train these
- 15:12Speaker 4: individuals in Nashville, we we got to make them so
- 15:14Speaker 4: passionate about a monico fication the Zips Golden Wings that
- 15:18Speaker 4: they don't miss a step. The only way to be
- 15:20Speaker 4: successful in business to have like minded people with similar
- 15:23Speaker 4: passions towards what you're trying to build. That's what make
- 15:26Speaker 4: things happen. And if we can find a few chefs
- 15:28Speaker 4: out there, they can make Zips wings, which I'm telling you, delicacy, delicacy,
- 15:34Speaker 4: You get that done. Boys were operating. So Will is
- 15:38Speaker 4: being a bitch is basically what we're saying.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Hearing Mitch just say how he's like craving, that makes
- 15:43Speaker 5: me believe even more that Zips would rock here hearing
- 15:46Speaker 5: someone speak about food that way, especially no offense.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Mitch.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Mitch is like a pickier eater, Oh for sure.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Hearing him just say that he wants that makes me
- 15:56Speaker 5: makes me fired up, dude.
- 15:57Speaker 4: One of the greatest feelings I've ever had in my life,
- 16:00Speaker 4: in my life is when we were all in Arizona
- 16:03Speaker 4: and it's like, basically the whole squad's there and I've
- 16:06Speaker 4: been talking, yeah, at the striper Bowl, I've been talking
- 16:08Speaker 4: and talking and talking about zips and how great it is.
- 16:10Speaker 4: And then the moment comes where I take them to
- 16:12Speaker 4: my specific zips that I know is going to deliver.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Every belly was full, every heart was happy, and every
- 16:18Speaker 4: soul was cleansed, and I walked away. I sat in
- 16:21Speaker 4: the back of that car on the way to wherever
- 16:24Speaker 4: we were going next, looking out the window, smiling, knowing
- 16:26Speaker 4: I just did God's work for my voice.
- 16:28Speaker 8: And then there's a moment too where like, as you've
- 16:31Speaker 8: just explained, it's like, what if they're having an off
- 16:34Speaker 8: day and my whole reputation is out the windows, right,
- 16:37Speaker 8: And if you'll only get one, bro, because that truly,
- 16:40Speaker 8: if I think of all time greatest meals I've shared
- 16:43Speaker 8: with my brothers, that goes up there.
- 16:45Speaker 7: That's that's that's right up there.
- 16:47Speaker 8: It's up there, and everything delivered that you said, And
- 16:50Speaker 8: I love ordering with Taylor, especially at a place where
- 16:53Speaker 8: he knows what to order, because you just sit back,
- 16:56Speaker 8: relax and just let them take the driver.
- 16:58Speaker 4: That, Hey, that's a clean taste, that's a clean a
- 17:00Speaker 4: clean takes.
- 17:01Speaker 7: Don't even look at them menu when you have.
- 17:03Speaker 4: The pressure of like what am I gonna get? A
- 17:05Speaker 4: couple things look kind of good, but I really don't know.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Was the first time and someone's like, hey, do you
- 17:08Speaker 4: guys want to do family style? And you're like, yeah,
- 17:09Speaker 4: I'll do family style. I was like, do you mind
- 17:11Speaker 4: if I just start going to the specific you want?
- 17:13Speaker 4: You're like I'd like this, like no problem, and they
- 17:15Speaker 4: order everything and you just sit back and then just
- 17:18Speaker 4: cuisine clean clean take.
- 17:21Speaker 8: If you've ever another clean take, if you ever have
- 17:24Speaker 8: the pleasure of dining with Taylor at a family style meal,
- 17:27Speaker 8: you will never go away from that spot feeling hungry.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, buddy, Oh yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 1: That's a pretty good complimentary.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Yeah, which is so funny considering you left family style
- 17:39Speaker 5: food so hungry.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Yeah, like duck high and peering, steak high and peering.
- 17:45Speaker 4: They brought pizzas. I'm thinking of myself. Twenty twenty six,
- 17:48Speaker 4: I'm still on the ground, can't be eat no pizza.
- 17:50Speaker 4: But yeah, dude, if we we go to eat and
- 17:53Speaker 4: I know, like, hey, like we're not doing a split
- 17:56Speaker 4: bill thing. I'm gonna pay for dinner. Like I don't
- 17:58Speaker 4: want people to be like, oh, I kind of want
- 18:00Speaker 4: they'd be sick to charge the primary. But it's like, no, bro,
- 18:02Speaker 4: two of them we're doing through this. We're doing that
- 18:05Speaker 4: whenever we go to out the vegacy and it's like, brother,
- 18:07Speaker 4: we're putting a sort like there's gonna be multiple dishes
- 18:11Speaker 4: that might not be touched.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:13Speaker 4: We're talking about first world problems type of living, okay,
- 18:16Speaker 4: because I want my boys to be fed and happy
- 18:18Speaker 4: and healthy. Maybe not so healthy because of what the
- 18:20Speaker 4: Zips does, but hey, I'm doing.
- 18:22Speaker 6: I honestly think if we reached out to Zips like
- 18:25Speaker 6: we could, you could busting with the boys, could legitimately
- 18:31Speaker 6: get it out here.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree. If if they're interested in partnering with
- 18:35Speaker 4: us and we could franchise the Zips out here, Nash
- 18:38Speaker 4: will never be the same. It'll be the Boom, It'll
- 18:41Speaker 4: be the boom dot Com Boom Boom.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Would we get our all like, would there'd be like
- 18:47Speaker 1: a Jack mac Fakasha a clump curse for.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Kasha vampire margarita, yeah something. Hey, we would have some specializies.
- 19:05Speaker 4: What I'd also like to do if this was a
- 19:07Speaker 4: bust with the boys type of thing, makes like a
- 19:09Speaker 4: lot of things unique to it. Like we'll put the
- 19:11Speaker 4: jerseys will have a classic sports bar feel, but everybody
- 19:14Speaker 4: would have like a tag on their booth, like there
- 19:16Speaker 4: would be a boot like a mcpheerson booth his boys,
- 19:21Speaker 4: the raft the.
- 19:24Speaker 7: Raft dude.
- 19:25Speaker 4: And also like you guys know, there'd be a boy's
- 19:27Speaker 4: not a big boozer anymore, but the zipper ritas they
- 19:30Speaker 4: make there. Any person that's had a beverage at Zips
- 19:32Speaker 4: and they had a zipper rita life changing, life changing.
- 19:36Speaker 4: And we'd add a little Nashville to it as well.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Out outdoors, have a little bit of some corn hole
- 19:41Speaker 4: going on outdoor games. You can have a little fun
- 19:43Speaker 4: while eating a Monica fukasha with that extra jalapeno dipping sauce.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Are you fucking me right now, dude.
- 19:48Speaker 7: I'll tell you right now.
- 19:49Speaker 8: One neighborhood that desperately needs a good sports bar is Wedgwood, Houston,
- 19:54Speaker 8: where I live, and that might be the best spot
- 19:57Speaker 8: to telling you it's up and coming.
- 20:00Speaker 7: Something to think about, something to think about. I'm so
- 20:04Speaker 7: hungry right.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Now, bro, I'm telling you, and I wouldn't want to
- 20:10Speaker 4: take you to the National one just yet. I want
- 20:12Speaker 4: to make sure that's down. I gotta take you to
- 20:14Speaker 4: Viade Ventura and Hayden and get you in the corner
- 20:17Speaker 4: at that Zips because I'm telling you because when I
- 20:20Speaker 4: sit with you, I let the I let the waitress know, like, honey, sweetheart, baby,
- 20:24Speaker 4: I eat here like once a year, and when I
- 20:26Speaker 4: come in here, I eat to die. Like I'm trying.
- 20:27Speaker 4: I'm trying to gorge myself. Tell the chef in the
- 20:30Speaker 4: back to add a elextra love to all these dishes
- 20:33Speaker 4: because I need this. And you know what they do.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Every time they smile, they give me a wink. And
- 20:37Speaker 4: the food's perfect. The food's perfect.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Clean take.
- 20:40Speaker 6: When when a waitress says like I got you, I'm
- 20:43Speaker 6: gonna take care of you and they actually follow through.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Yeah, that tip goes crazy, That tip goes nuts.
- 20:50Speaker 7: Go to whatever, Yeah to whatever.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Sometimes when I go to Zips, because hey, not only
- 20:56Speaker 4: is a delicious also affordable, I'll match the bill with
- 20:59Speaker 4: the tip. I'll match it if they do what you
- 21:02Speaker 4: just said, Mitch, I'm gonna take care of you. Don't
- 21:04Speaker 4: worry about it.
- 21:04Speaker 7: You said, what, that's a clean flex.
- 21:06Speaker 4: It's a clean flex, clean flights.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Dude.
- 21:10Speaker 4: You gotta have it, dude, you gotta have it. Just
- 21:13Speaker 4: let's break down UFC three twenty four on Paramount real quick.
- 21:16Speaker 4: All right, we ended up this episode to bring you
- 21:18Speaker 4: Jim Beam. The postseason upon us, and there's really nothing
- 21:20Speaker 4: like it. But the postseason can be stressful, crushing losses,
- 21:24Speaker 4: wild upsets, you're unhinged hicks, game parlay, falling apart at
- 21:27Speaker 4: the literal last second. Things can't get rough, and they
- 21:30Speaker 4: can leave you feeling a bit sour. But you gotta
- 21:32Speaker 4: look at the bright side, ladies and gentlemen. Once your
- 21:34Speaker 4: team is out and headed to decompress, you can finally relax.

- 22:00Speaker 4: Lemonade to make the rest of the postseason just a

- 23:26Speaker 4: get back to this episode, right, awes, our bellies are hungry.
- 23:30Speaker 4: But you know it's not the viewership on UFC. Man,
- 23:33Speaker 4: they absolutely crushed this Paramount thing. People were saying a
- 23:37Speaker 4: couple of things about commercial steeking place with the walkouts
- 23:40Speaker 4: are happening to me, dude, it's eight ninety nine.
- 23:41Speaker 7: Quiit bitching And I didn't notice any commercial Like I know.
- 23:45Speaker 5: I saw so many people complain about that, right bro,
- 23:47Speaker 5: It was like a normal It felt like a normal
- 23:49Speaker 5: flow is awesome.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, No, how do you complain for not having to
- 23:52Speaker 3: pay for a pay per view?
- 23:54Speaker 8: Yeah, I feel like most of the commercials that I
- 23:56Speaker 8: was noticing that it's kind of like out of the
- 23:58Speaker 8: ordinary was it'd be like a picture in Make Sure
- 24:00Speaker 8: where they'd still have the broadcast.
- 24:01Speaker 7: Going on a smaller screen and then they throw.
- 24:03Speaker 8: Up said advertising, which never bothers me. I'm you know,
- 24:06Speaker 8: running to grab something or you know, I can go
- 24:08Speaker 8: take it right.
- 24:09Speaker 4: And let's not forget what commercials do for us to
- 24:11Speaker 4: give us an opportunity to look at our phones, check
- 24:13Speaker 4: in with people. If it's not stop actually over and
- 24:15Speaker 4: over again, it's like watching a movie. It's like, I
- 24:17Speaker 4: can't wait to talk about this when it's over. Now
- 24:18Speaker 4: you get a little break here and there to talk
- 24:20Speaker 4: about it.
- 24:21Speaker 1: The way they're doing their bonuses, yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 4: The bonuses are money. So where they're doing one hundred
- 24:26Speaker 4: thousand dollars for fight of the night, and if you
- 24:28Speaker 4: finish somebody, it's a twenty extra twenty five thousand. So
- 24:31Speaker 4: if you finish somebody in a UFC fight, the person
- 24:34Speaker 4: that finished the individual, they get twenty five thousand dollars
- 24:36Speaker 4: on top of what they're already making. So now we're
- 24:41Speaker 4: back into the rising tide lifts all boats. UFC fighters
- 24:43Speaker 4: are loving this Paramount fight is the Paramount plus deal
- 24:46Speaker 4: because their game is now also getting elevated. Their pockets
- 24:48Speaker 4: are getting elevated. And this, dude, this this fight not
- 24:53Speaker 4: disappoint at all. Sugar shot out of Malley song, you
- 24:57Speaker 4: dong back and forth. People are a little upset because
- 24:59Speaker 4: they think Sean Omelly should have not won that fight.
- 25:02Speaker 8: I think it was a setup for a comeback. I mean, really,
- 25:04Speaker 8: if if Sean lost that fight, his career in the UFC,
- 25:07Speaker 8: by no means is it over. But it absolutely is
- 25:10Speaker 8: in jeopardy for being main event cardworthy because that'd be
- 25:13Speaker 8: his third loss in a row. Who knows what it is.
- 25:17Speaker 8: I think I love seeing Sean win. I think America
- 25:20Speaker 8: loves seeing Sean win Friend of the show.
- 25:22Speaker 7: For end of the show.
- 25:23Speaker 8: But man, that one hundred thousand dollars five bonus has
- 25:26Speaker 8: to be going to Patty and Justin Geechee debt, and
- 25:29Speaker 8: hopefully he goes straight to Patty because as he says,
- 25:32Speaker 8: Scousers do not get knocked out, and he did not.
- 25:36Speaker 8: I mean truly, that dude, I mean an absolute warrior.
- 25:39Speaker 8: It's like every opportunity Justin Gachie had to knock him
- 25:43Speaker 8: out and could have it feels like and Patty just
- 25:46Speaker 8: I mean relentless.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Relentless, was creative in his attacks. Kasey just kept coming
- 25:52Speaker 4: in head down, getting into the body a little bit.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Hit him multiple times. We're talking about Temple shots, Josh shots.
- 25:57Speaker 4: There was a graphic that came up and it was
- 25:59Speaker 4: like significant hits and it shows the body. Yeah, fifty
- 26:02Speaker 4: four I think we were in the third round. Fifty
- 26:03Speaker 4: four significant hits to the head for Patty the batty
- 26:07Speaker 4: and he's still getting up his face. My god, at
- 26:09Speaker 4: the end of the fight looks crazy. But even when
- 26:12Speaker 4: he's sitting there and I love how they do the
- 26:15Speaker 4: corners and then you can hear the people talking about
- 26:17Speaker 4: what the strategy is and all that, Patty's talking normal
- 26:21Speaker 4: during Like he while his face is all deformed, he's
- 26:23Speaker 4: still going out there and fighting, swinging his ass off.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Gee chie dude. A lot of credit to him. There's
- 26:29Speaker 4: a lot of rumors about him possibly hanging up the gloves,
- 26:31Speaker 4: putting the gloves on the canvas when it was all finished.
- 26:34Speaker 4: He obviously did not do that. He is the innerm
- 26:35Speaker 4: Belt now.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Well.
- 26:36Speaker 4: I can't wait to see what with him. One of
- 26:38Speaker 4: my favorite things about UFC is after these big fights
- 26:41Speaker 4: take place, whoever the winner is a bunch of new
- 26:43Speaker 4: lore or old memories come out. And one thing I
- 26:46Speaker 4: saw was somebody tried to mug Justin Geichee at gun
- 26:50Speaker 4: point one time in a car and Justin Gaichee, the
- 26:53Speaker 4: news report was showed the mugger and their face was destroyed,
- 26:57Speaker 4: and this person pulled a gun on Gai Chee. Gee
- 26:59Speaker 4: Chee disarms them and beat the shit out of him.
- 27:01Speaker 8: Like what that's a dream scenario as a UFC fight
- 27:04Speaker 8: dream states, go ahead and try.
- 27:06Speaker 3: Yes, right dude.
- 27:08Speaker 4: And he's got a crazy quote.
- 27:10Speaker 9: Uh.
- 27:10Speaker 4: He was doing like a podcast one time and he's like,
- 27:12Speaker 4: if one man can hold you down, to two could
- 27:14Speaker 4: rape you. He said that publicly, and I'm watching it.
- 27:19Speaker 4: And after you watch Gechee fight, you're you're looking at
- 27:21Speaker 4: going holy shit, He's right, He's right. I see the
- 27:25Speaker 4: room got a little stiff when I about that, right,
- 27:27Speaker 4: Jesus Christ.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Boys, post fight was awesome too of that one.
- 27:31Speaker 9: Uh.
- 27:32Speaker 5: He said something to Patty along lines of like Patty
- 27:35Speaker 5: mentioned pre fight that he's gonna bust his face up
- 27:37Speaker 5: or we'll see how your face looks, and he's like,
- 27:39Speaker 5: looks like your face is the one bust up or
- 27:40Speaker 5: something cool like that just like in the moment to
- 27:43Speaker 5: even have that ready to.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Go as sick.
- 27:45Speaker 5: I liked Patty because if I'm him, I probably would
- 27:47Speaker 5: have been complaining a little more about that thumb to
- 27:49Speaker 5: the eye. I think that really messed multiple and he
- 27:53Speaker 5: I'm so surprised post fight he wasn't like that. That
- 27:55Speaker 5: really impacted the fight. He lost with class, said like
- 27:58Speaker 5: justin Gaigee's a legend.
- 28:00Speaker 4: It was awesome growing up to watch him. And it
- 28:01Speaker 4: takes a moment, takes a good probably minute and a
- 28:03Speaker 4: half just talk about men's mental health.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, Patty seems like a Patty seems like a really
- 28:09Speaker 1: good dude, all time guy. Just the Scottish accent is legendary.
- 28:14Speaker 9: Yeah, clean take.
- 28:15Speaker 4: He's not Scottish Scouser.
- 28:19Speaker 7: It's from Liverpool, is what Scousers are.
- 28:22Speaker 1: That may be the best accent of all.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Time that might be up there. That's a take.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Australians up there, Australian.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Clean take, because that's a lot of opinions out there.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Australian accent goes hard, just accents in general.
- 28:35Speaker 8: If you've never seen the viral video, it's been around
- 28:38Speaker 8: a lot, but it's a ring doorbell footage and Patty
- 28:41Speaker 8: the Batty shows up and he's like, miss just like,
- 28:44Speaker 8: my dog just took a messy, sloppy shit out here.
- 28:48Speaker 8: He's like, do you have a bag? And she's like,
- 28:50Speaker 8: is that pozzy the bots. He's like, don't worry about it, sweetheart,
- 28:53Speaker 8: I'll be there.
- 28:54Speaker 7: I'll clean. He's like, are you shure it's a really
- 28:56Speaker 7: sloppy ship. It's like, dude, a guy just going up
- 28:59Speaker 7: on the ring clean.
- 29:02Speaker 4: Jack killed.
- 29:06Speaker 8: Yeah, but yeah, I can appreciate a man who's willing
- 29:09Speaker 8: to clean up his dog ship when when no one
- 29:12Speaker 8: is looking, what do you.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Do behind closed doors? The true character of a man
- 29:16Speaker 4: right there. I like it so but this, I mean,
- 29:19Speaker 4: obviously we did. We're doing an ad reed for Paramount
- 29:22Speaker 4: Plus in UFC UH in this episode, and it just
- 29:25Speaker 4: seems like they have just fight after fight after fight.
- 29:29Speaker 4: It's there. It's gonna be a hell of a year
- 29:30Speaker 4: for UFC, A hell of a year ZUFA boxing as well.
- 29:33Speaker 4: I know, Dana just started that this year. Their first
- 29:36Speaker 4: fight was on Friday, went really well for them. They're
- 29:38Speaker 4: really excited. He was on the podium talking about how
- 29:41Speaker 4: people are to look back at the end of this year,
- 29:42Speaker 4: but I can't believe they did that in one year
- 29:44Speaker 4: of this boxing. So Dana maybe the greatest fight promoter
- 29:47Speaker 4: of all time. He's not taking steps on steps on steps,
- 29:50Speaker 4: just adding to the legacy that is Dana White. It's
- 29:52Speaker 4: absolutely beautiful. Let's talk about the guest seat that we
- 29:59Speaker 4: have sitting right here, this bud Light cake. We got

- 31:21Speaker 4: Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Our guest today is
- 31:24Speaker 4: none of the Commissioner of College Football, Josh Pate. We
- 31:26Speaker 4: have an amazing breakdown on this weather that's taking place
- 31:30Speaker 4: in the southeast and the northeast this half of the country.
- 31:33Speaker 4: The ice how that all had, Dude, it's a very
- 31:35Speaker 4: educational episode. We dive into josh Pate's other passion aside
- 31:40Speaker 4: from college football as well.
- 31:41Speaker 6: The weather combo was actually like really cool to hear, Like,
- 31:44Speaker 6: I feel like we could do an entire episode just
- 31:46Speaker 6: with him talking about weather.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Dude.
- 31:48Speaker 4: We basically that we touched on college football Indiana, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Michigan,
- 31:56Speaker 4: Ohio State. So lots of talk about there is a
- 31:59Speaker 4: story you're going to hear about josh Pat's grandfather. It
- 32:03Speaker 4: is absurd to the point where you think to yourself,
- 32:07Speaker 4: this is not real. And he said before, hey, when
- 32:08Speaker 4: I tell you the story, you're gonna think it's not real.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I heard the story, I think it's not real. But
- 32:12Speaker 4: also josh Pat's never been a liar to me. So
- 32:15Speaker 4: that being said, please enjoy this again. The boys work
- 32:19Speaker 4: their ass off to get you here and to get
- 32:21Speaker 4: you this episode. We could have sat back said hey,
- 32:24Speaker 4: we're not gonna do it. Brains got together last night
- 32:27Speaker 4: in the eleventh hour and we decided we're gonna roll
- 32:29Speaker 4: one not for us, but for you the viewer. So
- 32:31Speaker 4: to all of you that do watch this episode, this
- 32:33Speaker 4: one's for you. We appreciate you. We hope if you're
- 32:35Speaker 4: in Nashville or any spot that's been hit by the
- 32:38Speaker 4: weather really hard. That you are safe, you are fed,
- 32:41Speaker 4: and your family is happy. Big hugs, tiny kisses, Please
- 32:43Speaker 4: enjoy this episode. Boom. We well, just me and mention here,
- 32:47Speaker 4: let's give a Josh Payter around a pause. Mention it
- 32:49Speaker 4: just a quick, little nice clap. He made it, he
- 32:51Speaker 4: did it, he got it all done. We were just
- 32:53Speaker 4: discussing the under over of who's going to make it
- 32:55Speaker 4: to the shop today, and we clearly hit the over.
- 32:57Speaker 4: So we have clump. We got Jack, we got Jared,
- 33:00Speaker 4: we got Sure, and we got Mitch and we that's
- 33:02Speaker 4: it right in myself, So six guys made it to
- 33:05Speaker 4: the shop. Obviously, you see to my right, we're missing
- 33:07Speaker 4: our special boy. Our special boy is gone. Our hearts
- 33:11Speaker 4: are with him. He has one area in his house
- 33:13Speaker 4: where he can get some sort of cell signal out.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Last night he started firing off texts and I'm thinking
- 33:19Speaker 4: to myself, buddy, we've handled this but all good, and
- 33:23Speaker 4: he's just panic texting over and over and over again.
- 33:27Speaker 9: Should we just called this the Will Compton memorial episode,
- 33:32Speaker 9: even though he's still alive.
- 33:33Speaker 4: It has to it should absolutely because you could, dude,
- 33:37Speaker 4: you can feel it. I don't know why he would
- 33:38Speaker 4: just send me text randomly like you get this. I'm like, yeah,
- 33:40Speaker 4: I got it. And there was a few hours there
- 33:42Speaker 4: where I was the only person he could text, and
- 33:44Speaker 4: it was the most communication I was able to have
- 33:47Speaker 4: with will outside of Bustle with the boys in three years.
- 33:51Speaker 4: You could just tell he's going stir crazy. He's losing
- 33:55Speaker 4: his mind a little bit in that house all by himself.
- 33:57Speaker 9: You can see when the flame on the end of
- 34:00Speaker 9: the stick starts to die out. Yeah, and the wolves
- 34:02Speaker 9: close in and and there's no there's no more time
- 34:06Speaker 9: for shields or emotional fences. You just kind of you
- 34:10Speaker 9: spill your heart out because you kind of know this
- 34:12Speaker 9: is it. That's been, that's been William over the past
- 34:15Speaker 9: forty eight Right.
- 34:15Speaker 4: It's so fun for him when he's at Target and
- 34:18Speaker 4: he's doing the content online. Once once the self service
- 34:21Speaker 4: kicked out, he's like, oh no, wo wait you mean.
- 34:24Speaker 9: You mean you mean I don't just get to have
- 34:27Speaker 9: all fun with this.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Thing?
- 34:30Speaker 4: That could happen, Dude, will Lily thought to himself, I
- 34:32Speaker 4: could probably lose power, we could lose food, toilet trees, everything,
- 34:36Speaker 4: But at least I got Wi Fi no matter what,
- 34:38Speaker 4: and I think it was the one and only thing
- 34:40Speaker 4: that went down for him.
- 34:42Speaker 7: But he did.
- 34:42Speaker 4: He he had a clip and I hope we put
- 34:44Speaker 4: it in the show of him driving and he's like,
- 34:46Speaker 4: the roads are bad, don't go on the roads. I'm
- 34:49Speaker 4: the guy that when a tornado's outside, I'm the dad
- 34:51Speaker 4: that walks outside and has to see the tornado and
- 34:54Speaker 4: I'm out. I'm literally watching the video outside of my house,
- 34:57Speaker 4: trying to feed my animals and stuff like that, thinking
- 34:59Speaker 4: all I want to do is just kind of figure
- 35:00Speaker 4: out what these roads are really like right now. And
- 35:02Speaker 4: it's the curiosity. So it's a it's a big reason
- 35:05Speaker 4: why women live so much longer than men. We just
- 35:08Speaker 4: the dumb curiosity. But I digress. I want to give
- 35:13Speaker 4: you the floor for a second, because this week you've
- 35:16Speaker 4: done an incredible job of giving Will and I updates,
- 35:19Speaker 4: of just saying, hey, this is what's going in You're
- 35:21Speaker 4: talking about using big words, about different graphs or saying
- 35:24Speaker 4: different things. They're the ones you believe in. It's headed
- 35:26Speaker 4: north now, it's back south, but it's definitely gonna head
- 35:28Speaker 4: back north again. We're a team. We're in the trenches.
- 35:30Speaker 4: It's been a trench talk all year long and twenty
- 35:32Speaker 4: twenty five about Josh Paint being the trenches. Now you're
- 35:36Speaker 4: no longer in Nashville, and you you fled south. The
- 35:39Speaker 4: rumor is Josh pat fled south because he was afraid
- 35:43Speaker 4: of the weather. And I love for you to just
- 35:45Speaker 4: speak to the masses on kind of that narrative being
- 35:48Speaker 4: written about you across the nation right now. I would
- 35:51Speaker 4: never say that about you. By the way, I want
- 35:53Speaker 4: you to know you're my guy. I would never say
- 35:55Speaker 4: that about you.
- 35:57Speaker 9: This is one of those rare instances where the narratives
- 36:00Speaker 9: I wrote the narrative. I told you, guys, so about
- 36:03Speaker 9: a week ago, I started smartening you up to the
- 36:05Speaker 9: fact that, hey, the mid term long range models are
- 36:08Speaker 9: showing some stuff for us, and at that point the
- 36:11Speaker 9: stuff was just going to be historic snowfall and we
- 36:14Speaker 9: were gonna At one point me and Clump talked about
- 36:17Speaker 9: doing this show today in the parking lot, pretending that
- 36:21Speaker 9: we didn't have power so we could just dead sell
- 36:25Speaker 9: the fact that we were gathered around a campfire in
- 36:27Speaker 9: the parking lot with like inchine hour snowfall rates piling
- 36:30Speaker 9: up in our lap. That was fun. Those were the
- 36:32Speaker 9: old days. That was a while back, Okay. Then then
- 36:36Speaker 9: a different word started to work itself into the equation ice.
- 36:40Speaker 9: Now people will look at what Nashville is going through
- 36:42Speaker 9: right now. Who grew up up north and say, oh,
- 36:44Speaker 9: I'm used to that complete bs. No one's used to
- 36:47Speaker 9: ice storms. No one gets used to ice storms. Now,
- 36:50Speaker 9: since I have been immersed in weather my whole life,
- 36:53Speaker 9: I know what a crippling ice storm is like. So
- 36:56Speaker 9: I don't run from tornadoes. In fact, you know, I
- 36:58Speaker 9: run towards tornadoes. I chased them in the spring. It's
- 37:00Speaker 9: my second favorite passion. I don't flee hurricanes. I actually
- 37:04Speaker 9: win Hurricane Matthew, which was our last Cat five US
- 37:07Speaker 9: landfalling hurricane hit in the Florida penninth or the Florida Shore.
- 37:11Speaker 9: I went down there. So I don't run from any
- 37:13Speaker 9: kind of weather. The only weather I will actively run
- 37:16Speaker 9: from is an ice storm because it gives you the
- 37:18Speaker 9: damage that a tornado gives you. You've seen the trees,
- 37:20Speaker 9: so it looks like tornado damage. Basically, it's just way
- 37:23Speaker 9: more widespread and you're so powerless. When power goes out,
- 37:27Speaker 9: you're literally powerless. So I knew, and I told you
- 37:30Speaker 9: guys about seventy two hours ago. I don't like the
- 37:32Speaker 9: way this is trending. If the GFS model doesn't make
- 37:35Speaker 9: a good, solid comeback here in the eleventh hour, the
- 37:37Speaker 9: Euro is gonna win. That's why they call it King Euro.
- 37:40Speaker 9: That's why they call the model King Euro this time
- 37:42Speaker 9: of year. And if we were going to get what
- 37:43Speaker 9: it looked like we were gonna get, which we ended
- 37:45Speaker 9: up getting, I didn't want to be a part of it.
- 37:48Speaker 9: So I don't think that there's any shame in being
- 37:51Speaker 9: in relatively normal forty one degree Columbus, Georgia in the
- 37:55Speaker 9: AC Hotel conference room right now, which was graciously given
- 37:59Speaker 9: to me for this recording. And now the question becomes,
- 38:03Speaker 9: when do I come back? Do I come back? Is
- 38:05Speaker 9: there a whole left? That's the question. We will rebuild,
- 38:08Speaker 9: we hashtag we will rebuild. It's going to be a
- 38:11Speaker 9: long and arduous.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Process, dude.
- 38:14Speaker 4: So, okay, I want to this this podcast. We we
- 38:17Speaker 4: can break down a little bit of college football, but
- 38:19Speaker 4: I really want to know the weather, Where did the
- 38:21Speaker 4: passion come from? What the hell is GFS you talk
- 38:24Speaker 4: about the Euro winning? I'm thinking democracy has done the
- 38:27Speaker 4: domestic dollar, like I like, there's so many things. And
- 38:30Speaker 4: you made a point when when we were out we
- 38:33Speaker 4: traveled to LA for the sam coom and you would
- 38:35Speaker 4: hit Will and I in the group chat and Will
- 38:37Speaker 4: would say something like we're warriors, blah blah blah, We're
- 38:39Speaker 4: gonna bat down the hatches, and I would just be like, okay,
- 38:41Speaker 4: thank you, and you'd hit us back with Will has
- 38:44Speaker 4: always got like some sort of profound like quote from Gladiator,
- 38:47Speaker 4: and Taylor just says the most generic response back, because
- 38:50Speaker 4: I'm reading your text and I'm thinking to myself, I
- 38:51Speaker 4: got a funnel this shit all the way through chat
- 38:53Speaker 4: GBT just to figure out what the hell he's saying.
- 38:55Speaker 4: I just know Icepad's snow good. I'm a neanderthal on
- 38:58Speaker 4: this whole thing. Yeah, So where did Josh Pat's passion
- 39:02Speaker 4: because every story you have is so unique, even though
- 39:04Speaker 4: way you found college football without even playing football in
- 39:08Speaker 4: high school, where did the passion of weather come into play?
- 39:12Speaker 1: All? Right?
- 39:12Speaker 9: So when I was growing up, I went to school
- 39:15Speaker 9: technically out of district, So I grew up in Harris County, Georgia,
- 39:19Speaker 9: which is just north of Columbus. But it's just over
- 39:21Speaker 9: the Chattahoochee River, which means it's just over the state
- 39:23Speaker 9: line into Georgia. It was in my best interest to
- 39:26Speaker 9: go to school in Phoenix City, Alabama, so I could
- 39:30Speaker 9: stay at me Mo's house in the afternoon until my
- 39:32Speaker 9: parents got off work. So I went to school over
- 39:35Speaker 9: in Phoenix City until someone turned us in years later,
- 39:37Speaker 9: and that's its own separate story. So anyway, when I
- 39:39Speaker 9: would get off school, I would go over to MEMA's
- 39:42Speaker 9: house and I would either watch Sports Center or I
- 39:44Speaker 9: would watch the Weather Channel or both. And I watched
- 39:47Speaker 9: like some Nickelodeon like some stuff like that, but mainly
- 39:50Speaker 9: I just watched ESPN and I watched the Weather Channel.
- 39:53Speaker 9: And about that time, I'm a little kid in the
- 39:56Speaker 9: mid nineties, that's kind of when I first remember watching
- 39:59Speaker 9: TV or anything like that. That's kind of when Twister
- 40:01Speaker 9: came out, So the concept of people storm chasing really
- 40:05Speaker 9: captured me and I got sucked in. Side note, there
- 40:09Speaker 9: was a timing my kindergarten year where because I was
- 40:14Speaker 9: just glued to the Weather Channel all the time, I
- 40:16Speaker 9: learned all my fifty state capitals by the time I
- 40:19Speaker 9: was in kindergarten, and everyone rightly thought that was a lie.
- 40:24Speaker 9: So the principal brings himself down to my kindergarten class
- 40:27Speaker 9: one day because the kindergarten teacher was bragging about me
- 40:29Speaker 9: to the rest of the school. I guess in like
- 40:31Speaker 9: the teacher's lunch room and the lounge and stuff like that.
- 40:34Speaker 9: So principal comes down there, and I think they had
- 40:36Speaker 9: bet money on me amongst themselves. They had bet on
- 40:40Speaker 9: whether I could whether I knew Montpellier was the capital
- 40:42Speaker 9: of Vermont or whatever, and so I did, And so
- 40:45Speaker 9: I think there was some cash that exchange hands because
- 40:48Speaker 9: of the Weather Channel teaching me my state capitals by
- 40:50Speaker 9: the time I was in kindergarten. So then I grew
- 40:53Speaker 9: up and like I've never relinquished that, Like I've never
- 40:57Speaker 9: let that go to the point where I've talked to
- 40:59Speaker 9: you off care a lot. You asked me like, hey,
- 41:02Speaker 9: when when college football gets so big, like when the
- 41:05Speaker 9: channel gets so big, Like what do you do? Do
- 41:07Speaker 9: you go to the NFL? I don't go to the NFL.
- 41:09Speaker 9: Like my next big passion project would be a full
- 41:13Speaker 9: on weather based platform. I would love to get into that.
- 41:16Speaker 4: That is so wild to me. Then I'm sure like
- 41:19Speaker 4: you just seeing these print like this teacher and this
- 41:21Speaker 4: principal going back and forth gave you such a sense
- 41:24Speaker 4: of pride at five or six years old, whatever age
- 41:26Speaker 4: you were, when you're able to recite all the capitals
- 41:29Speaker 4: and states that it turned into this passion. But like
- 41:33Speaker 4: people have passions, people get excited. They find identities and
- 41:35Speaker 4: things that are like, oh, this is great. What made
- 41:39Speaker 4: you good? Like when was the first time You're like,
- 41:41Speaker 4: I'm gonna take the next step, whether it's buying a
- 41:43Speaker 4: weather radar system, whether it's chasing a tornado for the
- 41:47Speaker 4: first time, when was the next step for you in
- 41:50Speaker 4: the passion category of weather.
- 41:53Speaker 9: Okay, you're gonna they're gonna think I'm making this story up.
- 41:55Speaker 9: So I don't know what age I was. This is
- 41:59Speaker 9: going to sound like a made up story, okay, because
- 42:01Speaker 9: it has to do with an ice storm. So there's
- 42:03Speaker 9: a lot of correlation here. When I was a kid,
- 42:07Speaker 9: my grandpa died and we had to go up to Chattanooga, Tennessee,
- 42:11Speaker 9: or Lookout Mountain, which is really close to Chattanooga for
- 42:14Speaker 9: his funeral. So he got cremated and he wanted his
- 42:17Speaker 9: ashes spread about this lake that he used to fish
- 42:20Speaker 9: in like up in the mountains in Tennessee. So I'm little, like,
- 42:23Speaker 9: I'm way under ten years old, so I kind of
- 42:26Speaker 9: loosely understand what's going on. So we go up there,
- 42:28Speaker 9: it's in the middle of winter. We have I think,
- 42:30Speaker 9: a service, and then we're going to go spread his
- 42:33Speaker 9: ashes the next day. So this is my mom's dad.
- 42:36Speaker 9: My dad is up there as well, who you know
- 42:39Speaker 9: very well. And so the forecast says there's going to
- 42:43Speaker 9: be a big ice storm. So it's decided that the
- 42:46Speaker 9: rest of the family, me included, we're going to go
- 42:48Speaker 9: home early. My mom's going to stay up there. They're
- 42:51Speaker 9: going to spread the ashes and whatnot, and so you know,
- 42:53Speaker 9: it's too risky for everyone to stay up there. So
- 42:55Speaker 9: I remember us going home. So I remember that was
- 42:57Speaker 9: the first time I really learned howling an ice storm
- 43:00Speaker 9: could be, that we had to like miss Peapau's funeral
- 43:03Speaker 9: ash spreading because of it. Okay, that's not the part
- 43:07Speaker 9: that sounds crazy. Years later, unrelated to the ice storm,
- 43:10Speaker 9: I get home from school one day, this is like
- 43:12Speaker 9: five to ten years later. I get home from school
- 43:14Speaker 9: one day. My mom has this look on her face
- 43:17Speaker 9: like someone just hit her with a baseball bat, and
- 43:19Speaker 9: I'm like what she said, So I need you to
- 43:22Speaker 9: sit down. Never good, never good.
- 43:24Speaker 4: That's terrible.
- 43:25Speaker 9: I mean that got dropped only about three times in
- 43:27Speaker 9: my whole life, so this was one of them. Hey,
- 43:29Speaker 9: need you to sit down. So it's about Pea Paul
- 43:31Speaker 9: And I said, Pepa's been dead like seven or eight years.
- 43:34Speaker 9: I don't know what this could possibly pertain to. She said,
- 43:37Speaker 9: do you remember when we went up there to spread
- 43:39Speaker 9: his ashes? I said, well, I remember you did. I
- 43:41Speaker 9: had to go home early for the ice storm. I
- 43:43Speaker 9: still did remember that. She goes, yeah, all right, So
- 43:45Speaker 9: you're gonna hear some stuff on the news later today,
- 43:49Speaker 9: cause a news crew just left our house. So I'm
- 43:52Speaker 9: going to prepare you for it now, okay. Come to
- 43:54Speaker 9: find out there was a place up in North Georgia
- 43:57Speaker 9: called the Tri State Crematorium that they had sent his
- 44:00Speaker 9: body to to be cremated.
- 44:02Speaker 2: All right.
- 44:03Speaker 9: This place had been raided years later, and they discovered
- 44:07Speaker 9: bodies stacked on top of each other that hadn't been
- 44:11Speaker 9: cremated in a big shed. They discovered bodies thrown in
- 44:14Speaker 9: a lake on the property. These people's incinerator had broken,
- 44:19Speaker 9: and so instead of handing back human remains, cremated remains,
- 44:22Speaker 9: they were basically just handing back firewood ash to people
- 44:25Speaker 9: who don't know the difference, because who could really spot that.
- 44:28Speaker 9: So we took like firewood ash for my mom did
- 44:32Speaker 9: up into the mountains and spread it out and risk
- 44:34Speaker 9: their life in an ice storm. And they come to
- 44:36Speaker 9: find out his body has just been stacked in this
- 44:38Speaker 9: shed the whole time, and they finally identified him because
- 44:40Speaker 9: his toe tag was still on him. I'm not making
- 44:43Speaker 9: any of this up, and so, yeah, that was my
- 44:46Speaker 9: first experience with a nice storm.
- 44:48Speaker 4: My friend, dude, what the fuck? Yeah, so Pipa has
- 44:52Speaker 4: just been sitting there in like a refrigeration unit for
- 44:55Speaker 4: the last ten Oh.
- 44:56Speaker 9: No, no, they didn't even do him the courtesy of
- 44:57Speaker 9: refrigerating him. No, he's just out in a shed. So
- 45:00Speaker 9: is he like disintegrating, Yeah, they just they were on
- 45:03Speaker 9: the word.
- 45:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think it is.
- 45:06Speaker 1: He was.
- 45:06Speaker 9: He composed. He composed his remains because of the tow
- 45:09Speaker 9: tag was still so they didn't.
- 45:10Speaker 4: Even they didn't embalm him or nothing like that. They
- 45:13Speaker 4: just stacked him. And that's okay. I can see where
- 45:15Speaker 4: we can find a line here of like that's insane.
- 45:18Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a big story, dude. You could, like anybody
- 45:20Speaker 9: can google Tri State Crematorium right now and just read
- 45:23Speaker 9: all about it. Probably has its own Wikipedia page.
- 45:26Speaker 4: That is nuts. So your mom sits you down, she
- 45:28Speaker 4: says all this to you. Do you pop on the
- 45:30Speaker 4: news that night?
- 45:32Speaker 9: Yeah, because she was on the news, got you got this?
- 45:35Speaker 9: This is true. This was my mom's fifteen minutes and
- 45:37Speaker 9: not the one that she wanted necessarily, but like she
- 45:39Speaker 9: got on national news because of this.
- 45:41Speaker 4: So do we let's let's try to put a bow
- 45:44Speaker 4: on this. Do we get a hold of p Pau's body?
- 45:46Speaker 4: Do we finally do the crematorium? And do we go
- 45:48Speaker 4: to and spread his ashes?
- 45:50Speaker 9: Great question? Yes? And then I was able to go
- 45:53Speaker 9: this time, and we went way up like to a
- 45:56Speaker 9: We went to such a remote point in the Tennessee
- 45:58Speaker 9: wilderness that I question, how did he ever get here?
- 46:01Speaker 1: Routinely?
- 46:02Speaker 9: Yeah, it was just strictly walking trails and we went
- 46:05Speaker 9: up there and spread the ashes. Legit ashes out this time,
- 46:08Speaker 9: So I guess all's well that ends well a decade later.
- 46:11Speaker 4: Yeah, to think that tears were shed over firewood ash
- 46:15Speaker 4: though tough, tough, tough, livin. Dude, that is absolutely insane.
- 46:20Speaker 4: So your passion came from malpractice. Yeah, your passion came
- 46:26Speaker 4: from malpractice. When was the first time you chased the tornado?
- 46:29Speaker 4: Because if my understanding of our friendship is correct, your
- 46:32Speaker 4: one of your favorite thing to do is chase tornadoes.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Let's let's dive into that. Give me and yeah, Oh,
- 46:40Speaker 4: I think Josh has already said, Mitch, just in the corner.
- 46:42Speaker 4: Can we come in the reference of going to see
- 46:44Speaker 4: a tornado? I think that answer has already been answered,
- 46:48Speaker 4: Like we've been given. We are going to chase a
- 46:50Speaker 4: tornado with you this year. I cannot be more excited
- 46:53Speaker 4: for the opportunity. I can't be excited. I'm so excited
- 46:56Speaker 4: to be terrified and then watch the vehicles and drive
- 46:59Speaker 4: towards the fight as opposed to away from the fight. Yes,
- 47:01Speaker 4: similar to what I have done in this ice storm.
- 47:04Speaker 4: But you know, no, pat in the back needed first
- 47:06Speaker 4: time you chased the chase a storm? Who'd you get
- 47:09Speaker 4: hooked up with? What's his name, Red Dog? The Sniffer's
- 47:14Speaker 4: who's the guy you work with?
- 47:15Speaker 9: Oh, you must be referring to Brad Arnold, the tornado sniffer.
- 47:18Speaker 4: The tornado sniffer. Correct, Now, I'm assuming he's not your
- 47:22Speaker 4: first chase. You have to work yourself up to the sniffer.
- 47:25Speaker 9: Brad Arnold wasn't my first, he wasn't your first.
- 47:27Speaker 4: All right, tell me about when you've lost that beautiful
- 47:30Speaker 4: tornado card.
- 47:32Speaker 9: I want to say it was eight. I want to
- 47:34Speaker 9: say you.
- 47:36Speaker 4: By the way, just you saying, oh wait, you love tragedy. Right,
- 47:38Speaker 4: we talked about your peepa. Now we're talking about a
- 47:40Speaker 4: housing market crash. You don't care. You're just chasing down tornadoes.
- 47:44Speaker 9: Why does everyone look so glum when I'm talking eight?
- 47:47Speaker 9: This is a great year for me. Yes, exact successful chase. No,
- 47:50Speaker 9: there was a system that moved through really really weird.
- 47:54Speaker 9: So there what are called closed core low systems, which
- 47:57Speaker 9: I'm not gonna explain, but anyway, they provide their own
- 47:59Speaker 9: cold air. Fascinating. They are notorious for bringing a severe
- 48:04Speaker 9: weather signal the one day and then snow the next day.
- 48:06Speaker 9: In the South, they're rare, but when they do, they're
- 48:08Speaker 9: famous for doing that. So we get an EF two
- 48:10Speaker 9: tornado right there in near Harris County where I grew up,
- 48:13Speaker 9: and we chased it. We saw that one and then
- 48:16Speaker 9: the next day we got seven inches of snow, extremely rare,
- 48:19Speaker 9: like the biggest snowfall that we've had where I grew
- 48:21Speaker 9: up in my entire lifetime. That was the first one
- 48:24Speaker 9: I remember. But as far as doing it the way
- 48:26Speaker 9: I want, you got to understand, like, so I grow
- 48:29Speaker 9: up way closer to poorer than middle income, so I
- 48:34Speaker 9: can't leave, like I can't go anywhere. Traveling is a
- 48:38Speaker 9: non starter for me. So I always made it a goal, like, man,
- 48:41Speaker 9: if I could ever if I could ever make it,
- 48:43Speaker 9: quote unquote, if I were ever financially secure, I would
- 48:46Speaker 9: hope that it comes from covering college football, which we
- 48:48Speaker 9: ended up accomplishing. But then the dream scenario is you're
- 48:52Speaker 9: financially secure and you have your springs free, so you
- 48:55Speaker 9: can go chase tornadoes anywhere in the country you want to.
- 48:58Speaker 9: So like, that's what we do now. So if it
- 49:01Speaker 9: calls for flying to Wichita, or flying to Oklahoma City,
- 49:04Speaker 9: or flying to Omaha or Topeka, that's where we go.
- 49:07Speaker 9: And then you're in a car, and like I told you,
- 49:09Speaker 9: you could be flying right back out of Wichita the
- 49:11Speaker 9: next day, or you could end up driving all the
- 49:14Speaker 9: way back to Nashville, just because the chase naturally takes
- 49:17Speaker 9: you east and you get to a certain point and
- 49:19Speaker 9: you're in Arkansas, and you're like, we're already halfway home.
- 49:21Speaker 9: Why don't we just drive the rest of the way home.
- 49:24Speaker 9: But I love that man. And now so I'm fourteen,
- 49:26Speaker 9: I've seen fourteen tornadoes and I think we can get
- 49:29Speaker 9: that up to twenty this year.
- 49:31Speaker 4: Yeah, but if a tornado slot sounds like fourteen tornadoes,
- 49:35Speaker 4: where does the sniffer come in? Because we remember were
- 49:37Speaker 4: flying back from New York a couple months ago, great
- 49:39Speaker 4: show on Get Up ESPN. They definitely dialed in the
- 49:42Speaker 4: colleg shootble portion and they asked you to come up.
- 49:44Speaker 8: You do.
- 49:44Speaker 4: You absolutely kill it the entire time on our way back.
- 49:48Speaker 4: A lot of stuff going on in the media, Weather's
- 49:50Speaker 4: getting kind of crazy, and you're just staring at your
- 49:52Speaker 4: phone with all these little dots and colors going on
- 49:55Speaker 4: and stuff like that. I don't know what I was
- 49:57Speaker 4: going to finish that question with the sniffer. How did
- 50:01Speaker 4: you get to the sniffer? You brought him up on
- 50:04Speaker 4: the plane and you talk about this guy that can
- 50:06Speaker 4: just he can find tornadoes out of thin air. He's
- 50:08Speaker 4: one of those guys. He puts the grass near sees
- 50:11Speaker 4: the direction of the wind and heads that way.
- 50:13Speaker 9: Yeah, like he's in the movie Twister. If you ever
- 50:15Speaker 9: see Bill Patson just walk out in a gravel parking
- 50:18Speaker 9: lot of a barbecue joint and just pick up some
- 50:21Speaker 9: of the gravel and let it fall out of his hand,
- 50:23Speaker 9: and then he looks at the sky mysteriously. That's our boy,
- 50:26Speaker 9: that's a sniffer. So all right, So here's the scene.
- 50:29Speaker 9: When you're chasing these days. YouTube is a fascinating thing
- 50:33Speaker 9: in our world. It's changed our lives, but it's changed
- 50:35Speaker 9: storm chasing too. So what you'll have is, at any
- 50:39Speaker 9: given time, you could have like fifteen other chasers live
- 50:42Speaker 9: feeds pulled up on top of your radar products and
- 50:46Speaker 9: your GPS products. You just got a wall of monitors
- 50:49Speaker 9: in your truck if it's set up the right way.
- 50:51Speaker 9: So over time, I don't know any of these people personally.
- 50:54Speaker 9: I didn't grow up with him, But you just come
- 50:56Speaker 9: to You just come to filter out who the legit,
- 50:58Speaker 9: like like Alpha's in the space are so over time,
- 51:02Speaker 9: like Brad Arnold, who by the way, is stranded in Franklin,
- 51:05Speaker 9: Tennessee as we speak. So shout out to him. Brad
- 51:07Speaker 9: Arnold just starts to separate, and like anytime there's a
- 51:11Speaker 9: tornado that's touched down or there's one that's emminent, he's
- 51:14Speaker 9: always there. His car is always there, his little dot
- 51:17Speaker 9: on the map is always there. So it turns out
- 51:21Speaker 9: he watches the show. He's a big college football guy,
- 51:23Speaker 9: so we just kind of naturally got hooked up. He
- 51:26Speaker 9: lives in Huntsville. Most of these dudes live in Oklahoma.
- 51:29Speaker 9: He lives in Huntsville, so it makes a lot of sense.
- 51:31Speaker 9: Like if we were to ever chase or if we
- 51:33Speaker 9: were to stage out of somewhere, you got maybe the
- 51:36Speaker 9: best in the world. He's power rated number one right now.
- 51:39Speaker 9: I got him power rated number one. I don't know
- 51:41Speaker 9: what he's ranked, but he's power rated number one. That's
- 51:44Speaker 9: that's our guy and a big fan of busting. So
- 51:47Speaker 9: like you don't know it, but you guys are friends
- 51:50Speaker 9: as well. Nice and he's down. He's down to a
- 51:52Speaker 9: lot of people are down to do a lot of
- 51:54Speaker 9: things these days, but he's down to chase the spring.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Doug's I never knew I was still about something until
- 52:01Speaker 4: you brought it into my life. Like obviously I've seen tornado,
- 52:04Speaker 4: but growing up in Arizona, there's zero natural disasters that
- 52:06Speaker 4: take place. So as a kid, you wake up in
- 52:08Speaker 4: the morning, sons outside, and you put on you know,
- 52:11Speaker 4: the news, and it's like ice storm in Nashville, Tennessee,
- 52:14Speaker 4: you know, tornado and Topeka, Kansas, and you just sit
- 52:18Speaker 4: there and go, hey, that's kind of crazy, and then
- 52:20Speaker 4: you go outside and play like it never really sparks
- 52:22Speaker 4: in your brain. Yeah, this is like the this is
- 52:25Speaker 4: like the It's just the craziest thought process. So for
- 52:28Speaker 4: the fact that me, Will you and the Sniffer are
- 52:30Speaker 4: going to head out in the spring, I cannot wait
- 52:33Speaker 4: for the opportunity to stare at one of these bad boys.
- 52:36Speaker 4: Because I remember being in Michigan. I think it was
- 52:38Speaker 4: my second year. I just moved into a house with
- 52:40Speaker 4: a couple of football players and there's a couple of
- 52:43Speaker 4: girls on the other side, and we became friends with them.
- 52:45Speaker 4: But like the first like I would say, March there,
- 52:48Speaker 4: all of a sudden, sirens start going off and these
- 52:51Speaker 4: cats are from the Midwest, and like, hey, we gotta
- 52:53Speaker 4: go down the basement. I'm learning all this in real
- 52:55Speaker 4: times where I'm playing it cool, but I'm like also
- 52:58Speaker 4: in like a massive panic mode of what's going on
- 53:00Speaker 4: because they're talking about how if this happens, we all
- 53:03Speaker 4: do X, Y and Z. If the power outs, we
- 53:04Speaker 4: have to be able to get out. And there's so
- 53:06Speaker 4: many different variables that take place. What's it like for
- 53:11Speaker 4: you when you're chasing these storms and there's so much
- 53:15Speaker 4: damage that takes place in these towns, these cities wherever.
- 53:18Speaker 4: It might be, Like, what is the move after the
- 53:21Speaker 4: tornado ends?
- 53:25Speaker 9: Can be really scary, It can be really traumatizing. So
- 53:27Speaker 9: I've been in this situation a few times, so what
- 53:29Speaker 9: you do. You can have different purposes for going out there.
- 53:33Speaker 9: Some people are working on federal grants and they're actually
- 53:36Speaker 9: doing work for the government. Many of the many others
- 53:39Speaker 9: have like big successful weather franchises that they run independently.
- 53:44Speaker 9: They're gathering content no differently than we are right now.
- 53:48Speaker 9: But everybody kind of has the understanding that, all right,
- 53:51Speaker 9: you're out here for whatever reason you're out here for.
- 53:53Speaker 9: But there's this mutual understanding in the community that everyone's
- 53:56Speaker 9: here and in a moment's time, you could come a
- 54:00Speaker 9: first responder. It could immediately turn into search and rescue.
- 54:04Speaker 9: Now you got to walk a fine line there because
- 54:07Speaker 9: not everyone is trained first responder, and so there's a
- 54:10Speaker 9: point where you could be getting in the way, you
- 54:12Speaker 9: could be doing more harm than good. But there's also
- 54:14Speaker 9: a point where, like I mean, if you're in the
- 54:15Speaker 9: middle of a disaster zone and no one's there, there
- 54:19Speaker 9: are no blinking lights. Also, it's really crazy cause ninety
- 54:23Speaker 9: nine times out of one hundred, power has been knocked out,
- 54:25Speaker 9: so there's no sound and it's really really surreal. It's
- 54:28Speaker 9: like a movie scene. So you got to do whatever
- 54:30Speaker 9: you can, and so you're always ready for that. You're
- 54:32Speaker 9: in the middle of a chase, and you know, especially
- 54:35Speaker 9: if you're near a tornado or you're documenting one, within
- 54:38Speaker 9: the next five minutes, you could be totally switched to
- 54:41Speaker 9: searching through debris and search and rescue mode, your dodge
- 54:43Speaker 9: in live power lines, your dodge in lightning as well,
- 54:46Speaker 9: which is my biggest fear. So, like there's a high
- 54:50Speaker 9: risk and like high volatility element into the chase. But
- 54:54Speaker 9: remember when you asked me on that flight back, you said,
- 54:59Speaker 9: what's it like when you see a tornado? What's it
- 55:02Speaker 9: like when you actually see it. It's because people ask
- 55:04Speaker 9: me that, so often, I had to come up with
- 55:06Speaker 9: this explanation. So the way I explained it, the way
- 55:10Speaker 9: I explained the adrenaline rush, it's very sudden. It's like
- 55:14Speaker 9: if you combined the feeling of cresting at the top
- 55:18Speaker 9: of a roller coaster when you start to head down
- 55:20Speaker 9: on a roller coaster, and you combine that with sex,
- 55:24Speaker 9: you combine that with the feeling you get in the
- 55:28Speaker 9: best haunted house you've ever been in. All of those
- 55:31Speaker 9: things thrown into one are kind of a loose comparison
- 55:36Speaker 9: to the like the kind of adrenaline when you're right
- 55:40Speaker 9: there in harms way next two like a legit tornado.
- 55:42Speaker 1: It's like your three favorite things.
- 55:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's like my three favorite things. The thing
- 55:46Speaker 4: that you're doing right now to me is one of
- 55:49Speaker 4: could be the greatest thing in a friendship or your
- 55:51Speaker 4: worst nightmare. And so it's essentially the same thing as
- 55:55Speaker 4: when you're when you go to a town, when you
- 55:57Speaker 4: bring your boys to your town that you grew up
- 55:59Speaker 4: in and there's that one in a restaurant that you're like,
- 56:01Speaker 4: you guys have got to go here, eat here, because
- 56:03Speaker 4: it's zips. This is you are essentially talking about my zips.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Right now to where you're gonna bring me along for
- 56:10Speaker 4: this ride. And the possibility that we talk to talk
- 56:14Speaker 4: about on this plane as well is you could go
- 56:16Speaker 4: out there for six days and not see a damn thing.
- 56:18Speaker 4: There is that element to where Josh Pate lets down
- 56:22Speaker 4: the boys, similar the way Will was framing you during
- 56:26Speaker 4: the Fiesta Bowl type of thing before we got that
- 56:28Speaker 4: cleared up. Thankfully for JP, that fear is massive, suld
- 56:33Speaker 4: Is it you fell in your stomach right now?
- 56:36Speaker 9: Yes? No, but it's not up to me. So there's
- 56:38Speaker 9: a calmness in the fact that it's out of my
- 56:40Speaker 9: hands because I've been in this position myself, like I've
- 56:44Speaker 9: spent money on gas, on flights, on food, on lodging,
- 56:49Speaker 9: and you go out there, and the thing about it
- 56:51Speaker 9: is sometimes the most sure thing type setup just doesn't deliver.
- 56:56Speaker 9: And it's not even necessarily like the weather man's fault.
- 57:00Speaker 9: There are a million different variables in the atmosphere, and
- 57:03Speaker 9: especially when it comes to stp significant tornado parameter, those
- 57:06Speaker 9: things have to be combined in a very very specific
- 57:10Speaker 9: combination of ingredients for super cells to form and tornado
- 57:13Speaker 9: genesis to happen. Now, when it does sometimes it'll pop
- 57:16Speaker 9: off in mass. But if you don't get it, there's
- 57:18Speaker 9: a fine line between a big outbreak and completely nothing.
- 57:22Speaker 9: Can you get the cap to break that day? So
- 57:25Speaker 9: I've experienced that myself. But that's actually what makes the
- 57:29Speaker 9: big outbreak day feel the way it feels, because it's
- 57:32Speaker 9: not like seeing a thunderstorm. You see those all the time,
- 57:35Speaker 9: so they don't mean anything to you. It means something
- 57:38Speaker 9: when you see a tornado because it's hard to chase
- 57:40Speaker 9: those things down.
- 57:41Speaker 4: When you get to we're looking at Nashville and all
- 57:44Speaker 4: the debris. I'm sure you've seen a lot of photos.
- 57:46Speaker 4: Over three hundred thousand people no power. It's a very
- 57:49Speaker 4: dangerous situation now that the storm has taken place and
- 57:52Speaker 4: everything's frozen over. You being my number one weather man guy,
- 57:56Speaker 4: is there a light at the end of this tunnel?
- 57:58Speaker 4: Because I heard rumors of I know, like middle of
- 58:00Speaker 4: the week it's gonna go get above freezing, but only slightly.
- 58:04Speaker 4: So my brain goes to, OK, we're gonna have a
- 58:05Speaker 4: little of a melt back to a refreeze. But then
- 58:08Speaker 4: I hear there's a rumor if there's a possible another
- 58:10Speaker 4: storm on the horizon that can give us the same
- 58:12Speaker 4: thing over again. What is your weather man things telling you?
- 58:17Speaker 9: Yeah, so I've been monitoring that. I don't feel overly
- 58:21Speaker 9: confident that that's gonna happen for Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama right now.
- 58:27Speaker 9: I think if that becomes an event this weekend, it's
- 58:29Speaker 9: a lot more in eastern seaboard event. But again that's
- 58:32Speaker 9: still a little ways off, so it bearies close watching.
- 58:35Speaker 9: What you got to watch for in Tennessee is sunlight.
- 58:37Speaker 9: You gotta get as many hours of direct sunlight as
- 58:40Speaker 9: you can get, which you're eventually gonna get. Like I'm
- 58:42Speaker 9: in Georgia right now. I'm planning on coming back up
- 58:45Speaker 9: there Wednesday, So like, I think we'll be good by them,
- 58:49Speaker 9: unless I text you otherwise. I don't foresee a big
- 58:52Speaker 9: event in the near future. So I think we got
- 58:54Speaker 9: some time to clean up. It's gonna be cold, but
- 58:56Speaker 9: I think we got some time to clean up.
- 58:57Speaker 4: Yeah, buddy, we got so much damage over here on
- 58:59Speaker 4: my side, like just my house in general, fifty thousand dollars.
- 59:05Speaker 4: You're just looking around and I'm seeing fences, structures broken down,
- 59:09Speaker 4: Like we have this whole compost station and it was
- 59:12Speaker 4: there two days ago, and now there's a giant tree
- 59:15Speaker 4: and you literally don't even see the compost station anymore.
- 59:18Speaker 4: My goats and my dog bear they have debris all
- 59:23Speaker 4: around them. Luckily none of those structures, but like fences
- 59:26Speaker 4: have been pulled down, wires are hanging. Yesterday, my neighbor,
- 59:31Speaker 4: his boss is like, hey, you need to get down
- 59:33Speaker 4: to Orlando, Florida. And he's like, I'm literally if you
- 59:36Speaker 4: pull out of my house on one side, like a
- 59:39Speaker 4: house down, there's a tree. On the other side less
- 59:41Speaker 4: than a house down, there's a power line in a tree,
- 59:44Speaker 4: there's no way to get out. But on my property,
- 59:46Speaker 4: I have a construction path from when we were building
- 59:48Speaker 4: the house to get out on the other side. So
- 59:51Speaker 4: I take this can am I just bought, and I
- 59:52Speaker 4: drive him to the shell station on the corner of
- 59:55Speaker 4: Old Hickory and I think Nolansville. I think those are
- 59:58Speaker 4: the two I'm not great with streets. Take him there.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: He has to drive it into Atlanta. It gets down
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: to Orlando after that, but I'm driving back too. And
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: the amount of chaos that's taking place, houses with trees
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: through the middle of them, like where you go and
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: you're on a street and it's like there's no way
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: to get around, so you have to turn around and
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: go back the other way and find a new way home.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Because that just happened in the last five minutes. I've
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: already talked about where I've grown up, but this is
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: the worst storm I've personally ever witnessed, and I'm sure
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: a lot of people in Nashville have as well.
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: All Right, So I was thinking about this yesterday. You
- 1:00:34Speaker 9: know how when you go through middle school and high school,
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: how many subjects you have to take that you know,
- 1:00:40Speaker 9: even in the moment, I'm never going to use this, Yes, absolutely.
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: Don't you think that weather awareness should be mandatory to
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: be taught in school only because think about, like, all right,
- 1:00:52Speaker 9: finance should be taught in school because it affects every
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: single person. I think weather awareness, or weather preparedness, or
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: at least like a basic functioning working knowledge of weather
- 1:01:04Speaker 9: should have to be taught because that's one of the
- 1:01:06Speaker 9: very few things in life that's guaranteed to impact everybody.
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: And like you, you're in Nashville right now, think about
- 1:01:12Speaker 9: how many people in the lead up to the storm
- 1:01:15Speaker 9: really had no idea what freezing rain was.
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: Dude, I'm one of them. I sat there and I'm like,
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: freezing rain. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: to me, because yesterday morning it's twenty eight. It's like
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: between twenty five and twenty eight degrees and it's raining,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: and I'm thinking, everything I've been taught about weather in
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: my life is as soon as it hits thirty two
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: and below, it's now snow. It's no longer rain. That's
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: not how it works. And I'm watching it's weirdly in
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: all this chaos, because the sunlight is out right now,
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: you walk inside and it's calm and kind of beautiful,
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: like if you ignore the fact that there's chaos going
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: around around you. You're seeing these limbs that seem like
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: they've been decorated for Christmas. Like there's a blanket of
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: snow which is actually just ice, and it looks like
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: so calm everywhere, and then in the dist it's every
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: two or three minutes you're hearing because where I live
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: in town, there's it's a lot of forest. You're hearing branches,
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: you're hearing trees come down, you're hearing people in the distance,
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: and where you're just like, it's crazy how this thing
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: can look so beautiful, but also the amount of chaos
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: that's taking place within one mile of me is just
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: outrageous because it's it's similar to the way you described
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: like after the tornado where there's no sound. Oh, you
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: can just hear what everybody's going through with an airshot
- 1:02:31Speaker 4: because there's nothing else kind of taking that away. It's
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: just nuts, ma'am.
- 1:02:36Speaker 9: So what's really crazy is when you learn the science
- 1:02:39Speaker 9: behind it. Because I was in this one time when
- 1:02:42Speaker 9: I was a little kid, when I watched the Weather
- 1:02:44Speaker 9: Channel describe freezing rain, it made no sense to me
- 1:02:46Speaker 9: because I'm like, I've seen it snow when it's thirty
- 1:02:49Speaker 9: five degrees outside before, So how could liquid be falling
- 1:02:52Speaker 9: out of the sky when it's thirty degrees Yeah, how
- 1:02:54Speaker 9: does that work? Well, you learn the science behind it,
- 1:02:57Speaker 9: and it really help if I had a grease board.
- 1:02:58Speaker 9: But like so, if if you have just a still
- 1:03:02Speaker 9: column of cold air all the way up to the cloud,
- 1:03:06Speaker 9: that snowflake is falling through sub freezing temperatures, so it
- 1:03:09Speaker 9: never melts and it just hits the ground as a snowflake.
- 1:03:12Speaker 9: But sometimes, and this is why I started using the
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: terminology warm nose with you last week, sometimes there's a
- 1:03:18Speaker 9: warm nose that works its way into the atmosphere just
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: above the surface. So there's this weird situation where at
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: the surface is below freezing, but just above the surface,
- 1:03:27Speaker 9: like two three thousand feet up in the air, it's
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: like thirty nine degrees. So a snowflake falls out of
- 1:03:32Speaker 9: the clouds, goes through that thirty nine degree air and melts,
- 1:03:36Speaker 9: and then it gets right towards the surface, and even
- 1:03:39Speaker 9: though it is below freezing towards the surface, it doesn't
- 1:03:41Speaker 9: have time to refreeze those gravity is pulling it to
- 1:03:44Speaker 9: the ground pretty quickly, so it doesn't freeze until after
- 1:03:47Speaker 9: it hits the ground. So it falls as liquid hits
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: the ground, freezes on contact, and then it just covers
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: everything like you're seeing right now. That's why the eye storm.
- 1:03:56Speaker 9: Freezing rain is one hundred times more dangerous than anything else.
- 1:03:59Speaker 9: And that's why once I realized that's what we were getting,
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: I bailed.
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: See you catch you laters, Yeah, because then you start
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: to read about like a half inch of rain adds
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: this many hundred pounds on branches. Yeah, And you know, like, dude,
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: when I woke up in the morning because our power
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: went out around like four am two days ago, and
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: the generator had not kicked on yet. And I, you know,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: I'll tell my own heroic story in a second. But
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: I'm outside kind of going around making sure everyone's good.
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: And there are flashes of green and blue lights through
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: the clouds, and the clouds are very low at this point,
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: but you're seeing these flashes. And I saw, like on
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: Twitter or wherever I was getting my weather that this
- 1:04:39Speaker 4: is this is probably a lightning storm coming with this.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: So I'm thinking to myself, Oh, this is just lightning.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: Come to find out, these are transformers exploding because of
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: the ice wearing it down in the amount of weight
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: that's taking. It's pulling these things off of these wooden
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: poles and sometimes the metal poles as well, to where
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: transformers are exploding in the distance where you see like
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: you sort of really, oh, these are just little bombs
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: going off all around Nashville, and it's just nuts. And
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: then I had to go and Buddy, I had to
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: fix my own generator. It was almost the end of
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: me and Tailor because she's sitting on the as she's
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: in the bathroom of our house and I'm on the outside,
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: and she's talking about event, and I'm reading the event,
- 1:05:14Speaker 4: I'm like, it's just like side panel and there's obviously
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: multiple sides, and I'm like yelling at her because I'm like,
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: now freezing, I'm getting rained on in thirty degree weather.
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: And it was chaos for a minute and ended up
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: getting it cranked on. We're running just fine at the
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: one household. But it is I've never seen anything like
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: this in my entire life, and it's just crazy that
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: it's exactly how you predicted it as it was coming.
- 1:05:38Speaker 9: Because you know what's crazy about the power flashes? Tell
- 1:05:41Speaker 9: me it's the so ice storms and tornadoes you look
- 1:05:44Speaker 9: for the exact same thing. You look for those power flashes, really,
- 1:05:48Speaker 9: and in whether it's ice storm or whether it's tornado,
- 1:05:51Speaker 9: a tornado is a little more violent in the moment. Obviously.
- 1:05:54Speaker 9: That's one of the telltale signs that a tornado's on
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: the ground is when you see the power flashes, because
- 1:05:59Speaker 9: you know that's just transformers blowing and there's really only
- 1:06:01Speaker 9: one thing that's going to do that, and that's tornado
- 1:06:03Speaker 9: on the ground. But in the event of the ice storm,
- 1:06:07Speaker 9: same things happening, but it's for a far different reason.
- 1:06:09Speaker 9: It's because of what you just said is happening to
- 1:06:12Speaker 9: all those tree branches. And that's why I told you,
- 1:06:14Speaker 9: because I know you live in like a really wooded area.
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: If you live in wooded areas, especially, you're just screwed.
- 1:06:19Speaker 9: If you get significant ice, Like half an inch or
- 1:06:22Speaker 9: more of ice is catastrophic because it's a one hundred
- 1:06:26Speaker 9: percent certainty tree tree branches are going to come down. Trees,
- 1:06:28Speaker 9: and they're entirety you're going to come down, And there's
- 1:06:31Speaker 9: only so many ways they can fall. And if you
- 1:06:33Speaker 9: consider how many trees you have around you, eventually one
- 1:06:36Speaker 9: of them is going to fall in a power line.
- 1:06:38Speaker 9: And really all it takes is one to fall at
- 1:06:41Speaker 9: the right place to knock out everybody's power.
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: Yeah, not exactly what happened in my house, dude. We
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: literally walked outside and I hear a branch go down.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: It's very close. So I look over in the direction
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: and I see a live wire kind of ripping.
- 1:06:54Speaker 9: Around on my show scary, So sary.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: I mean, I'm.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: Clearly a far enough distance away, I felt like, but
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: just seeing it, I'm like, this is insane. What's going
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: down right now? And it's just crazy. And then I
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: think to myself, Like my neighbor across the street, I
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: don't even know them. I kind of like keep to
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: myself in my neighborhood. But like they get a hold
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: of my wife's number, and this guy has a pacemaker
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: and he's like, we don't have power. So I'm like
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: going over there bringing it to my house, charging his pacemaker,
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: bringing it back. I got a neighbor that my kids
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: hang out with, their family is now in my house,
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: and I'm like trying to house people because I'm not
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: the only house on the block that has any power
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: right now. And it's like there's a feeling of a
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: rewarding feeling of being able to like help people in
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: this situation, but also it's like what's gonna happen when
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: it's all cleared up? Because pipe pipes are bursting. I've
- 1:07:42Speaker 4: already we've already talked about the amount of damage I
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: have in my house. Luckily, I'll be able to like
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: fix those things and get him done. But a lot
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: of people around me are just for months, possibly a year,
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: of are going to have like repercussions for the things
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: that are taking place in Nashville, which is just you know,
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: you have a lot of empathy and a lot of
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: gratitude for you, and you just hope everyone's all right.
- 1:08:02Speaker 9: Yeah. The staff was asking me when I told them
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: Thursday or Wednesday or Tuesday. I told them I'm considering
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: going out of town and they were like why, And
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: then we got past the whole joking around, Oh, you're
- 1:08:11Speaker 9: running from the weather, and I explained to him, no,
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: I'm not joking. I'm legit running from the weather. And
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: they were like, oh, you're serious, Okay, explain to us
- 1:08:18Speaker 9: why and I explained, well, here's what's going to happen
- 1:08:21Speaker 9: with the power. So, in fairness to them, they know
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: nothing about weather. So they were like, but the power
- 1:08:27Speaker 9: goes out sometimes in storms. Why does that mean you leave?
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: Do you leave every time you think the power is
- 1:08:33Speaker 9: going to go out? And I said no, the extended
- 1:08:36Speaker 9: period of time the power could be out, combined with
- 1:08:39Speaker 9: temperatures and what it's like the single digits last night,
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: that it's a really big deal because like when thunderstorms
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: knock out the power, I don't know that since I
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: lived in Nashville, my power has ever been out more
- 1:08:50Speaker 9: than three hours, except when the tornado hit my building
- 1:08:53Speaker 9: in twenty twenty. That was a different story. But like
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: other than that, just normal power outages, ANYS is really
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: good about getting that stuff back on. They are powerless
- 1:09:03Speaker 9: on some of this stuff to get it back on
- 1:09:04Speaker 9: because it takes weeks and weeks and weeks, because you're
- 1:09:06Speaker 9: not just like reattaching a line. You're not just resetting anything.
- 1:09:10Speaker 9: You have to physically rebuild the infrastructure of your power grid.
- 1:09:15Speaker 9: It doesn't matter if you have the best in the
- 1:09:17Speaker 9: world and they all work overtime and they bring in
- 1:09:19Speaker 9: crews from surrounding counties. You're talking about weeks, two, potentially
- 1:09:24Speaker 9: sometimes months that that stuff takes to get fixed.
- 1:09:26Speaker 4: Yeah. I was just texting with my wife before you
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: jumped on, and she works with this charity company called
- 1:09:31Speaker 4: Home Street Home. This guy named Steve. It's an amazing story.
- 1:09:34Speaker 4: He was lost his job, end up being homeless. He thought, Okay,
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: this will be a couple couple of weeks, ends up
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: being I believe closer to a year that he's on
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: the streets like no home, nowhere to go, sleeping under tunnels.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: And once he got himself financially stable, he pulled himself
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: out of the situation and now his whole mission is
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: taking care of the homeless, getting them on their feet,
- 1:09:55Speaker 4: giving them the tools in order to carry on with
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: their life and get back up to where they should be.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: He just hit my wife up, like we are that
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: we're overdone, we have no more money, we're messed up.
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: There's like there are people dying right now, which is
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: just you know, it's terrible. It's terrible, and there's not
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: a whole lot to go off that other than just
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: like you just hope everybody's okay, and so that's all
- 1:10:18Speaker 4: I got. It's probably not a great follow up to
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: that for you to be there.
- 1:10:21Speaker 9: I've always been a believer that the way that they
- 1:10:24Speaker 9: evacuate an area when a hurricane is imminent should be
- 1:10:29Speaker 9: the same way you evacuate an area when you know
- 1:10:31Speaker 9: an ice storm is imminent. The problem is a hurricane
- 1:10:34Speaker 9: is going to make landfall at a specific place, and
- 1:10:37Speaker 9: then it's going to move inland. This thing, like if
- 1:10:39Speaker 9: you look at the track of it, you're talking about
- 1:10:42Speaker 9: anywhere from southeastern Arkansas through like Oxford, Mississippi, up through Memphis, Jackson, Nashville, Knoxville,
- 1:10:50Speaker 9: Like you've got an extended, very very extended swath of
- 1:10:54Speaker 9: land where it's kind of it's not feasible to evacuate
- 1:10:57Speaker 9: that large a chunk of land. So people like, that's
- 1:11:01Speaker 9: why you got to prioritize like the elderly you're dude
- 1:11:03Speaker 9: on a pacemaker for example. Like I mean, if you
- 1:11:05Speaker 9: if you lose power, it's gonna suck, but you're you're
- 1:11:09Speaker 9: in the prime of your life, you're gonna be okay, probably, Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 9: but if you're eighty five years old, especially if you're
- 1:11:14Speaker 9: alone like that, that's something that's happening there right now.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it is. Uh, it's just crazy, man, And this conversation,
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: if it's you brought it up. But like having education
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: as a young as a young lad, being able to
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: understand weather and what you do in certain situations of tragedy,
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: whether it's a tornado and ice storm, a giant thunderstorm
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: that breaks out power, Like knowing what you should and
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: should not do, because I'm guilty of it myself and
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: I'm sure many other that are listening to this episode.
- 1:11:41Speaker 4: Is like, when this is all happening, I'm thinking to myself, Okay,
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: I gotta have food. If we don't have power, I
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: have firewood, and then everything else I can just kind
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: of figure out there's so many more layers of what
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: you need, from the salting of the driveway, how to
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: site to assault the driveway, shoveling the snow, just like
- 1:11:58Speaker 4: the preparation that takes place in order to be mobile
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: in case disaster strikes. And it's just me. I got
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: a buddy of mine who, like, I think, halfway through
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: the storm, he's like, we gotta go. We're going south,
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: and I think he's like, uh, he's from like southern Georgia,
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: so who's going to see his family there? It's just nuts,
- 1:12:14Speaker 4: all right, lady job, But we ended up this episode
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: to bring you rose sparks. All right, let me explain
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: why guys keep talking about roast sparks. You hear the
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: stories about a guy he's saying, once he started taking it,
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: their confidence went through the roof, and suddenly date nights
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: just felt a whole lot different. After it dissolves under
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: your tongue. You get you get hard, boys, listen to me,
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: you get rock hard and fifteen minutes on average, that's fast.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: No planning your whole day around it. This hasn't gotta
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: I got a date night. Four hours later, I'm gonna
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: pop the pill. And then all those things. This is
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: something that dissolves around your tongue. We're talking about fifteen
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: minutes on average, and these boys, it's not just a
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: one time and you're done. They last for thirty six hours,
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: which means he'll be ready all weekend, not just one moment.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: That's also why guys on Roast Sparks report their partners
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: we're more satisfied in bed. Confidence changes everything. It's something
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: you keep on hand. When the signal starts to she's
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: the the lady of yours, starts giving you those eyes,
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: she starts swrolling around that straw on the drink and
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: kind of looks up real slow at you. That's a signal. Boys,
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: no stress, no scrambling. So when you want to get
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: hard fast and be sex ready for up to thirty
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: six hours, you've got to check out Row Sparks. Thank

- 1:14:20Speaker 4: little taste test on. They are absolutely fire. Form Energy
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: We do the work. I know, we've we've taken a
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: lot of your time on the weather. We haven't really
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: spoken since you were crowned the locker room Champion and dude,
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: I can't believe Miami was able to hang that long
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: with Indiana. I mean, it was back and forth like
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: any or Miami could have easily won that game. But
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: what are your takeaways from we'll start small. Your takeaways
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: from this game seeing an ACC team and a Big
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: ten team for the third time winning a national championship
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: that game, what was your biggest take away from those
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: two teams?
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: First off? What a game?
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:14:59Speaker 9: And and I mean if I think, I don't think
- 1:15:02Speaker 9: Mario would admit this, but I think in his heart
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: of hearts, if you told him that morning, I'm going
- 1:15:07Speaker 9: to give you the ball first and ten midfield with
- 1:15:11Speaker 9: a minute left down six, will you take that? I
- 1:15:14Speaker 9: think he would have taken it.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: That's exactly where they were. So you've seen the movie
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: The Perfect Storm.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: Right, Yes, beautiful and heartbreaking.
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 9: Yeah, And to me, that was that entire game. And
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: it's kind of like playing Indiana this season, but that
- 1:15:29Speaker 9: game was a great microcosm of what it's been like
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: playing Indiana when they're on and Indiana was on that night,
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: So there were three different times where Miami probably took
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: what should have been a knockout blow. They answer each
- 1:15:42Speaker 9: time to the point, like we just said, where they
- 1:15:44Speaker 9: have the ball in midfield, like they I fully believe.
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: I was standing in the end zone with Chrystobaal's family.
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: I fully believe I'm about to see a celebration to
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: end all celebrations in Miami's building. This is about to
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: be surreal. And then Carson Bect just throws a pick
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: and it's over. Kind of anti climactic there, but I
- 1:16:02Speaker 9: felt like it was. There's such skill in being able
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: to trade knockout blows. It's like watching old school, like
- 1:16:11Speaker 9: like Muhammad Ali fights before there were any kind of
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: regulations on boxing. They're going fifteen rounds and they're just
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: annihilating each other and you're sitting there watching saying, not
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: only how did he just take that punch to his face?
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: How did he deliver one? So in the Perfect Storm,
- 1:16:26Speaker 9: and I'm going to spoiler alert it because it's been
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: out for a long time, they're going through like unimaginable
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: hell on the open seas and they're like a confluence
- 1:16:34Speaker 9: of three different storms and they're out there just trying
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: to catch some fists. They're trying to feed their families,
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: they're trying to get back to the mainland, and they're
- 1:16:41Speaker 9: stuck in it, and they're going through it, and there's
- 1:16:44Speaker 9: this point where George Clooney and the dude in the
- 1:16:49Speaker 9: in the in the captain's chair with him, they like
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: kind of resigned themselves to the idea that they're going
- 1:16:54Speaker 9: to die, and they're they're fighting it, but they realize
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: we're probably gonna die, all right. Then the skies start
- 1:17:01Speaker 9: to part a little bit and it starts to let up,
- 1:17:04Speaker 9: the rain stops, and they get this look on their
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: face like they just got a second chance at life.
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: And the second crewman there says, skip, we're gonna make it,
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: and George Clooney's looking around, and then the sky start
- 1:17:18Speaker 9: to darken again, and then the wind picks up again,
- 1:17:22Speaker 9: and then the sun disappears, and then the rain starts
- 1:17:25Speaker 9: to fall and the waves pick up, and George Clooney
- 1:17:27Speaker 9: looks and says, she's not gonna let us out. And
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: that's what it was like watching Miami. There were like
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: three different times where Miami feels like, man, we're gonna
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: win this game, and every time Indiana had an answer,
- 1:17:38Speaker 9: and every time Mendoza makes a play, and in the end.
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: It's just like they're not gonna let him out. They're
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: not gonna let him out. And I fully believe you
- 1:17:47Speaker 9: probably took Miami's best punch. Like all things considered, Miami
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: gave themselves as good as shot as they could give themselves.
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: But it was a game, like you said, where if
- 1:17:56Speaker 9: Indiana's on, no one's beating them, and they were on
- 1:17:59Speaker 9: enough where even Miami's best wasn't gonna beat him.
- 1:18:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's interesting too because when we were talking about
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: the locker room, you said, do you believe Miami's best
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: game can beat Indiana? And I answered what I really
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: thought was the truth, and the answer is yes. But
- 1:18:12Speaker 4: I do believe, like you just said, that was Miami's
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: best shot at that and it just happened to be
- 1:18:17Speaker 4: that Indiana just had a slight edge. And it's no
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: shot at Crystaball or Carson Beck or Fletcher or those
- 1:18:24Speaker 4: two defensive ends. It's just the storm. It just wasn't
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: gonna let you out, and no matter what you did
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: and how hard you thought, eventually you were going down
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: in that water until the bubble stopped. And it's it
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: was beautiful to see because it was two teams that
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: we have at one team we haven't seen in forever
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: in a national championship, and the other team is hasn't
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: been good in the history of their program in college football.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: And it was just amazing to watch two unique brands
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: go after it for something that mattered so much, and
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: to see like Fernanda Mendozo with the game on the line,
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: like call a draw called, where he makes a guy missed,
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: dives into the end zone, gets hit early in the game,
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: multiple late hits that could have been called on the
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: Miami defense. It was It was beautiful, It was poetic,
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: and I love the fact that Fernana Mendoza's story. I
- 1:19:14Speaker 4: love that he referenced the fact that he was a
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: two star guy at the end of the game and
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: was denied a walk on a walk on scholarship I
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: guess to Miami, And now he's on this big press
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: tour and he's going to clearly be the number one
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: overall pick, and it's just it's incredible to see. My
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: question is do we see my Indiana? Is this a
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: this is the new standard for Indiana and Kurt Signette,
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: who's only lost two games in two years, or did
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: they strike lightning in a Bottle, And I know you
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: don't truly have that answer, but I do want to
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: know your thoughts on when is Indiana go from here?
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: This Hoover kid that come from TCU, Like, what a
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: amount of pressure that he he has on his shoulders
- 1:19:54Speaker 4: to take over for Fernanda Mendoza. There's a lot of
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: things that are now taking place. Is Cooper coming back,
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: I don't know if he has. With sar rats out,
- 1:20:01Speaker 4: A lot of guys are going a lot of those
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: jam Ucats that came over to Indiana made the team
- 1:20:06Speaker 4: a national championship team. Those guys are gone now. So
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: I love to know your thought process on the Indiana
- 1:20:12Speaker 4: program at this point.
- 1:20:14Speaker 9: Yeah, I think they're there. Like I think they're here.
- 1:20:17Speaker 9: I think you can write their name on that fifth
- 1:20:21Speaker 9: line sort of in the Big ten like we've had
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon. They've been kind of
- 1:20:26Speaker 9: penciled in as you expect success from them. Yeah, and
- 1:20:30Speaker 9: the big question has been who's going to put their
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: name in that fifth line? Now, we were thinking USC
- 1:20:34Speaker 9: the whole time, and maybe USC will as well. Just
- 1:20:38Speaker 9: to my opinion, from this point moving forward, Indiana is
- 1:20:41Speaker 9: solidly in that fifth blank, And that doesn't mean they're
- 1:20:44Speaker 9: number five. That just means they've established themselves as the
- 1:20:47Speaker 9: fifth mainstay to me in the big ten. So the
- 1:20:50Speaker 9: reason I say that is they didn't I don't think
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: they caught lightning in a bottle. I think they took
- 1:20:58Speaker 9: everyone by surprise, including me. But I don't think they
- 1:21:00Speaker 9: caught lightning in a bottle because I don't to say
- 1:21:03Speaker 9: that to me insinuates what they just did they probably
- 1:21:06Speaker 9: won't be able to replicate. I think they'll be able
- 1:21:09Speaker 9: to replicate it now. It's it's a really interesting conversation
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: because they're going to have plenty good enough players, the
- 1:21:14Speaker 9: staff will be plenty good enough. Also, you got that
- 1:21:17Speaker 9: like Roger Banister's sub four minute mile effect, where now
- 1:21:20Speaker 9: that everyone has seen it done, it becomes much more
- 1:21:23Speaker 9: possible to be done again and again and again in
- 1:21:25Speaker 9: the end. So I don't doubt that the proof of
- 1:21:28Speaker 9: performance will help them as well. Like you said, they
- 1:21:30Speaker 9: established a standard there all that stuff. The one thing
- 1:21:33Speaker 9: that's interesting to me is when we were in Atlanta,
- 1:21:36Speaker 9: I don't know if you were. I don't think you
- 1:21:37Speaker 9: were there. I don't think you were there when I
- 1:21:39Speaker 9: had this conversation. I was talking to an Indiana fan
- 1:21:42Speaker 9: at the game before the game, and he was just
- 1:21:44Speaker 9: kind of talking about, oh man, you picked against us
- 1:21:46Speaker 9: so many times this year, but he was like having
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: fun about it. So he said, and think about this, bro,
- 1:21:52Speaker 9: this is the least talented team that Signetty's gonna have
- 1:21:55Speaker 9: because we're gonna get more talented players now, which is
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: not false, but he stopped short of saying what I
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: think he was implying. What I think he was implying
- 1:22:04Speaker 9: is if we're this good now, imagine how much better
- 1:22:06Speaker 9: we will be. The one thing I don't believe is
- 1:22:10Speaker 9: they'll ever have a better team than they just had.
- 1:22:12Speaker 9: They will have more talented teams, I have no doubt
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: about that. Maybe next year they will. I don't think
- 1:22:18Speaker 9: it is possible for a team in the purest sense
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: of what a team is. I don't think it's possible
- 1:22:25Speaker 9: to have a better team dynamic than what they just had.
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: I don't believe that to be true. So I'm not
- 1:22:31Speaker 9: saying that to try and put emergency breaks on expectations
- 1:22:36Speaker 9: or anything like that. I'm just trying to say, like
- 1:22:38Speaker 9: I always go back to Saban's first years at Alabama.
- 1:22:42Speaker 9: He gets there in seven. A year later they go
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: to the SEC title game. They're twelve and oho, they
- 1:22:47Speaker 9: play t bow and lose. The next year they go undefeated,
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: they win the whole thing. And those teams still had
- 1:22:54Speaker 9: like some Mike Shula players on those teams. There were
- 1:22:56Speaker 9: a few holdouts. It wasn't even all Sabans roster yet.
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: And I remember Bama fans thinking, we just want a
- 1:23:03Speaker 9: title and our most talented teams are still to come.
- 1:23:07Speaker 9: And they were right about that. But if you ask
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: Saban about the best teams he had, he'll go back
- 1:23:12Speaker 9: and point to those teams and he'll say, you know,
- 1:23:14Speaker 9: we never really recreated that unique kind of dynamic because
- 1:23:18Speaker 9: the way he put it, which I think is brilliant
- 1:23:20Speaker 9: and I think it applies to Indiana, is he said
- 1:23:22Speaker 9: those eight to nine teams, those were the last teams
- 1:23:26Speaker 9: we ever had where the building was full of what
- 1:23:28Speaker 9: can I do for Alabama?
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Guys?
- 1:23:30Speaker 9: Every year after that because of our success, because of
- 1:23:33Speaker 9: the athletes we were able to recruit, we were really talented,
- 1:23:36Speaker 9: but there was always this element of what can Alabama
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: do for me in the building, And he said, I
- 1:23:41Speaker 9: never really had a group that was like that eight
- 1:23:43Speaker 9: to oh nine group. Now they went on to win
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: more titles, so it doesn't mean they weren't able to
- 1:23:47Speaker 9: replicate success in the form of winning championships. But if
- 1:23:50Speaker 9: anyone thinks that kurtz Signetty's going to have better teams
- 1:23:53Speaker 9: than he just had, I think you're crazy.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I love everything you just said, because Indiana's now
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: put it to where when you look at the logo,
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: your brain doesn't necessarily go to basketball immediately anymore right
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: now looking at football, and that's what these kids are
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: looking at as well. They see the success. They see
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: Sarah who went to JMU, this Cooper kid black in
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: the backfield. Fernana Mendoz is the perfect example for all
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: these things. Like two star kid goes to cal No
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: one's really talking about Fernando Mendozo when he signs his
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: letter of intent out of the transfer portal to go
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: to Indiana. Yet he's the one that wins the national championship.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: So every kid now is thinking, if I go to Indiana,
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: I will get X, Y and Z, and so that
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: is it's a terrifying thing. It's also a thing that
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: I look at a guy like Kurt Signetti ofv He's
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: gonna handle it the similar way that Nick Saban does,
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: and he's gonna see it changing because he's been around Saban.
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: They butt heads a lot, but they also but heads
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: a lot because they're very similarly built and being the
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: guy understanding culture and implementing the culture, regardless of the
- 1:24:53Speaker 4: certain personalities that they have. So I do agree with
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: you that Indiana, although they might not be the same,
- 1:24:58Speaker 4: the record will reflects similarly similarly every year because of
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: what they've been able to build. When I look at Miami,
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: I get a little more pause when I look at
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: Miami because you obviously have Malachai Tony, who I think
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: he regraded I believe is the correct term. He should
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: have been a senior in high school this past year.
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: That's absolutely incredible for him to be such a vocal
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: point of that offense and one of the best players
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: in the entire team. But you're losing Beck, who is
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: you know, seventh year in college football, which is still
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: such a crazy thing for me to wrap my brain around.
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: He they have to find a quarterback, which I don't
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: know if they have. I haven't followed very much. They're
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: losing Mezi Mezzodeine, Mesidol, Mezzador and Bain who are the
- 1:25:38Speaker 4: two guys that anytime you brought up the defense. But yeah,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: their back ends really good. Their front seven is good.
- 1:25:42Speaker 4: But it's these two guys that allow everything to operate.
- 1:25:45Speaker 4: Mario Cristobal, friend of our show, friend of yours? What
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: do we think about them? Like, seems like their road
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: is a little more touch and go to be, like
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: they're gonna be in it every single year now. Their
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: path to me seems like, okay, yeah, they're they're in
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: the acc. They those fumbles versus SMU and Louisville. But
- 1:26:03Speaker 4: I could see them clearly, you know, getting into the playoffs,
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: but making that big of a run. That's where I
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: find pause.
- 1:26:10Speaker 9: I I kind of feel the same way about them
- 1:26:13Speaker 9: as I do Indiana, just in a sense that I
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: expect them to be there every year. To me, the
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: skill is in putting yourself in the playoff picture every
- 1:26:21Speaker 9: year and then you hope you peak at the right time,
- 1:26:24Speaker 9: you get injury luck and stuff like that. All right,
- 1:26:26Speaker 9: So do I put them in that category? Yes, I do.
- 1:26:30Speaker 9: I think they're when the dust settles, I think they're
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: gonna get Darien mensa that may be done, may not.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: That's a that's a due quarterback.
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: Yeah, and it's just a legal thing. He'll be the
- 1:26:39Speaker 9: quarterback down there, so they're gonna get him. I think
- 1:26:41Speaker 9: his best receivers probably gonna follow him. I just have
- 1:26:44Speaker 9: stopped doubting that they're going to backfill with really, really
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: solid replacements for the big time guys.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: That they're losing.
- 1:26:52Speaker 9: I think that you just saw in only one year
- 1:26:55Speaker 9: have big a ton of turnaround they had defensively, Like
- 1:26:57Speaker 9: they were woeful when cam Wood was their defense, and
- 1:27:00Speaker 9: they hired heathermana from Minnesota, and they just turned that
- 1:27:03Speaker 9: thing around. And I mean, honestly, I think the results
- 1:27:06Speaker 9: they got last year should have taken two years to get,
- 1:27:08Speaker 9: but they got them last year. So I think they'll continue,
- 1:27:12Speaker 9: They'll continue being able to win on that side of
- 1:27:14Speaker 9: the ball. I just think every year further you've gotten
- 1:27:18Speaker 9: into Mario being there, you've progressed, and every year further
- 1:27:22Speaker 9: you've gotten in, the team looks more and more like
- 1:27:25Speaker 9: what a Mario Chris ball team should look. That's why
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: they were able to do what they did. Like how
- 1:27:29Speaker 9: did they beat Ohio State? They just bloodied them that
- 1:27:32Speaker 9: no one else does that to Ohio State this year
- 1:27:34Speaker 9: at least, but they did, and then they did it
- 1:27:36Speaker 9: against A and M before that, and that's how they
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: were able to at least hang with Indiana and make
- 1:27:41Speaker 9: it a game against Indiana. So in that sense, I
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: think it'll be there. I just think in January especially
- 1:27:46Speaker 9: or February or even spring practice, when we're looking at
- 1:27:48Speaker 9: this stuff, we're so far away, kind of like that
- 1:27:51Speaker 9: weather thing when we're a week away from it. We
- 1:27:53Speaker 9: got a general idea of what could be in the vicinity,
- 1:27:57Speaker 9: but nailing down the specifics you got to be twenty
- 1:27:59Speaker 9: four to forty eight seventy two hours out. Maybe at
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: that point you kind of know. So like with Miami,
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: I mean, what does the intel out of the scrimmage
- 1:28:09Speaker 9: one in fall camp sound like? Do they have any
- 1:28:11Speaker 9: key injuries? Malachi Tony. You know, we watched Ryan Williams
- 1:28:15Speaker 9: and Jeremiah Smith pop as true freshmen, and then this
- 1:28:18Speaker 9: past year were their second years. Williams fell off a cliff,
- 1:28:21Speaker 9: Jeremiah Smith was still legit. And the point there is
- 1:28:24Speaker 9: it's not just an automatic that when you're a star
- 1:28:26Speaker 9: as a true freshman that you automatically scale that performance
- 1:28:30Speaker 9: level linearly in year two, so there's a lot of
- 1:28:33Speaker 9: unknown That's why I speak very generically about teams this
- 1:28:36Speaker 9: time of year, and I say they're gonna be in
- 1:28:38Speaker 9: the hunt. I think they're gonna be in the hunt.
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: The wild thing about them is they played for a
- 1:28:43Speaker 9: national title before they've played for an ACC title on Memorial.
- 1:28:47Speaker 9: That to me is insane.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: That is just crazy. And people now are looking at
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: like Clempson as like, oh that's a dead dog. But
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: you never know what's gonna happen with them as well.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: Dabo Sweeney as much as Hey he got this year,
- 1:28:58Speaker 4: it's like, could just bring them back out of the fold.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: He has a tendency to do that when they have
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: a down year, a big bounce back right after that.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: So even though the AC is not stacked, and we've
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: argued about you know, they're a little more irrelevant, which
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: you know, Miami brought them back in a lot of ways,
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: there's still that one or two teams in there that
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: can also make a big push at the end. But
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: you're absolutely right when it comes to injuries looking down
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: range too far this early in the year, it's more
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: fun to talk about than it is to put your
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: stamp of approval. We can do that in August when
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: we have our very exciting things coming up that we
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: can break at some point. But it's very interesting.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: I always talk about Michigan with you, but you had
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: a clip come out about how Whittingham there's young nucleus
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: of team. There's a lot of optimism. You see the
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: fan base. You're kind of living with the fan base
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: as far as like the way the optimism goes. I'm
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: as a fan sitting there being like, oh my god,
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: the potential. The potential that this team has this year
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: is a playoff caliber team. Not just a playoff caliber team,
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: but a team that can actually go maybe get a
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: couple chunks, even with the schedule that they have. But
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: then we just got done talking about mayor Chris Well,
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: but more importantly Kurt Signetti and Kurt Signetti he has
- 1:30:09Speaker 4: a lot of famous quotes, but one of the ones
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: I love the most is he takes production over potential.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: And what Michigan's dealing with right now is we have
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: a shitload of potential going into the season and not
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: so much production. And that is where my pause is.
- 1:30:24Speaker 4: So I love a little more of an outlook professional
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: view on the Michigan Wolverines, Barring injury, barring all the things,
- 1:30:32Speaker 4: how do we feel, as two Michigan Wolverine fans right
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: now about this team?
- 1:30:37Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 1:30:37Speaker 9: Remember what Signetti was having due though, So up until
- 1:30:40Speaker 9: five seconds ago, Kurt Signetti slash Indiana could not attract premiere,
- 1:30:46Speaker 9: highly rated players, highly rated talent. So what he had
- 1:30:50Speaker 9: to do was he had to go bargain barrel shopping,
- 1:30:54Speaker 9: and out of that crop of players, he's saying, I
- 1:30:57Speaker 9: trust the production over the potential. Now, I think even
- 1:31:01Speaker 9: he'll get into an area where, look, they can knock
- 1:31:04Speaker 9: on recruiting rankings all they want to. I promise you,
- 1:31:07Speaker 9: if a five star receiver wants to commit to Indiana,
- 1:31:10Speaker 9: they're not turning them away. I promise you they're not.
- 1:31:12Speaker 9: And I promise you'll probably see that kid on the
- 1:31:14Speaker 9: field as a true freshman. Yeah, I promise you that
- 1:31:15Speaker 9: stuff will happen. So at Michigan, we're talking about a
- 1:31:18Speaker 9: different little caliber of athlete from a recruiting ranking standpoint,
- 1:31:22Speaker 9: and that's its own conversation, and people have really flawed
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: theories about that stuff. But fifty thousand foot there is
- 1:31:29Speaker 9: no better forward facing predictive measurement in high school sports
- 1:31:34Speaker 9: now than recruiting rankings fifty thousand feet. Michigan traffics very
- 1:31:39Speaker 9: well in that category. So if my unproven potential is
- 1:31:44Speaker 9: really high level athletes that most other schools wanted, I'm
- 1:31:47Speaker 9: okay with rolling the dice that Kyle Whittingham will be
- 1:31:49Speaker 9: able to get the most out of them. I'll take
- 1:31:52Speaker 9: that risk. In other words, but the point I was
- 1:31:54Speaker 9: making the video you're talking about in the Mood Trackers
- 1:31:57Speaker 9: segment we did was at least now we know, like
- 1:32:00Speaker 9: at least now there's no me showing up to the
- 1:32:03Speaker 9: shop on a Wednesday, and before we start recruiting recording,
- 1:32:06Speaker 9: me and you were talking twenty minutes about what we're
- 1:32:08Speaker 9: hearing behind the scenes at Michigan, what could be going on,
- 1:32:12Speaker 9: what could be just around the corner or hidden behind
- 1:32:16Speaker 9: this curtain we know now, so we know the NCAA
- 1:32:19Speaker 9: stuff's done. No one's mentioning Connor stallions anymore. No one's
- 1:32:22Speaker 9: mentioning Harbaugh anymore. No one's mentioning any investigation. No one's mentioning,
- 1:32:27Speaker 9: hey man, have you heard this about Sharon? No one's
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: mentioned in that. So we're on the other side of
- 1:32:31Speaker 9: that now, and now it's just hey, let's play ball.
- 1:32:33Speaker 9: Let's roll it out there, spot the ball, let's go.
- 1:32:35Speaker 9: And we got a guy who was one of the
- 1:32:37Speaker 9: winningest head coaches in the history of college football, and
- 1:32:40Speaker 9: Kyle Whittingham who very clearly has tread left on his tires. Also,
- 1:32:43Speaker 9: if you believe in the chip on the shoulder added
- 1:32:46Speaker 9: fuel source, imagine that guy who was told time for
- 1:32:50Speaker 9: you to move on at Utah and then it just
- 1:32:52Speaker 9: so happens the Michigan jobs open. So the Michigan job,
- 1:32:56Speaker 9: maybe when he was otherwise stagnating in his career, reinvigorate.
- 1:33:00Speaker 9: I think the same thing may happen when James Franklin
- 1:33:02Speaker 9: at Virginia Tech. By the way, Yeah, so we may
- 1:33:04Speaker 9: see that that element multiple places. You got year two
- 1:33:07Speaker 9: with Bryce Underwood, so you kind of try and get
- 1:33:10Speaker 9: to see, like does he blossom year one to year two.
- 1:33:13Speaker 9: I just think it's so much, so much steadier, a
- 1:33:16Speaker 9: sense of footing right now, That's what gives me optimism.
- 1:33:19Speaker 9: So I put Michigan in that same category of they'll
- 1:33:22Speaker 9: be able to give themselves a puncher's chance, like they'll
- 1:33:24Speaker 9: be in the picture this year and then moving forward,
- 1:33:27Speaker 9: I have very little doubt they'll be in the picture.
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I know definitely this year. Very early. I mean
- 1:33:33Speaker 4: after the Oklahoma game, it was like, oh, we are
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: not we are talented, but we are misdirected in a
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: lot of ways. Then the USC game happens. Then I
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: talk myself into Ohio State, which you were on board
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: with into the eleventh hour. You were my ice storm
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: in late November. But yeah, being a part of the
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: University of Michigan Latter Day Saints like I am, I
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: kind of like where we're at right now. And it's
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: also insane to me that BYU and these Utah programs
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: were so a part of the locker room and we
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: always bring up American Primeval. Now I'm a part of
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: the squad. Dude, Now I'm a part of it. I
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: want to ask you about two more teams and then
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: I'll let you get out of there. I'm sure your
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: beautiful wife is waiting for you to get off so
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: you can go do your thing. Your father, Dan Pate,
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: finally got the I got the follow on Twitter. You
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: let me know quickly, and there would be no way
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: for me to ever know that he was following me
- 1:34:21Speaker 4: unless you gave me that message. We've exchanged dms, which
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: I will screenshot and send to you at a later date.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: But his team, the University of Alabama, I need a
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: tempt check on Kalin de boor where we're at. There
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: was a whole conversation around the quarterback and is he
- 1:34:39Speaker 4: gonna leave? I heard rumors about him possibly going over
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: to Tennessee if he didn't get a first round grade
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: and he wasn't going to go in the NFL because
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: a lot of people were thinking this backup quarterback who
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: you know, Garrett Hargas are our number one Alabama fan
- 1:34:52Speaker 4: here at the bus was talking about that kid. He's
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: the one. He's the truth. You watch him in pregames
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: before the SEC Championship. You're like, oh, I canmpletely understand
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: why people are about this kid. He ends up leaving
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: going to the NFL draft. I want to know about
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: were there any truth of these rumors in your mind
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: now at the time has passed, and this is usually
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: we can talk about these things and from a fan
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: base perspective, from your dad's perspective, who seems like he's
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: got his finger on the pulse of what goes down
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: with the Crimson tide. How we feeling Aboutkiln debor?
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:35:22Speaker 9: First thing in retrospect, Ty Simpson was never going to
- 1:35:26Speaker 9: do anything other than go to the draft because he
- 1:35:28Speaker 9: had mega offers on the table. I mean, he had
- 1:35:30Speaker 9: a mega offer from Miami on the table, and I
- 1:35:34Speaker 9: got respect for it. I got a lot of respect
- 1:35:36Speaker 9: for it because his reasoning was, I was a captain
- 1:35:38Speaker 9: at Alabama. I got my hands in the concrete there
- 1:35:41Speaker 9: at Alabama. I don't want to be looked back on
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: as a guy that just sort of threw that away
- 1:35:47Speaker 9: and went elsewhere. That's such an old school, like bygone
- 1:35:50Speaker 9: way of thinking. I could not have any more respect
- 1:35:52Speaker 9: for that. I wish there was more of it. So
- 1:35:55Speaker 9: Kielan Russell is the name to know at Alabama. Keilan
- 1:35:59Speaker 9: Russell was a five star I believe he was rated
- 1:36:01Speaker 9: five stars out of high school last year, and they
- 1:36:03Speaker 9: had a situation where he could come in and he
- 1:36:05Speaker 9: could read shirt because Ty was there. I went and
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: watched them practice a few times. I go as many
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: practices with as many teams as I can. And Keilan Russell,
- 1:36:14Speaker 9: you've been around it, man, You've been around high level
- 1:36:16Speaker 9: athletes and you just know when one is different, especially
- 1:36:20Speaker 9: a quarterback. You know when one is different. Now that
- 1:36:22Speaker 9: doesn't mean they're ready to play at that moment, but
- 1:36:24Speaker 9: when you witness elite like physical traits, there's no mistake
- 1:36:30Speaker 9: in that they don't blend in. They stand out from
- 1:36:32Speaker 9: the pack. So that guy's got that. I was shocked.
- 1:36:38Speaker 9: This is me personally speaking. I had no knowledge of it.
- 1:36:40Speaker 9: I was shocked that they did not lose Austin Mack
- 1:36:43Speaker 9: in the portal because Austin Mack is another pretty good quarterback.
- 1:36:46Speaker 9: You saw him come in in the Rose Bowl against
- 1:36:48Speaker 9: Indiana when Ty Simpson went down, made some good throws.
- 1:36:51Speaker 9: I know for a fact that when he transferred from
- 1:36:54Speaker 9: Washington to Alabama, I guess two cycles ago. Now there
- 1:36:57Speaker 9: were some other teams that wanted him back, but I
- 1:37:00Speaker 9: could come up into bors system, and he had played
- 1:37:02Speaker 9: under de Bori he just wanted to go continue to
- 1:37:04Speaker 9: develop under Kaylen de Bor. But look, they're going to
- 1:37:08Speaker 9: have a competition this spring, and I'm not saying they won't.
- 1:37:10Speaker 9: I'm telling you on equivocally, I think Keilan Russell will
- 1:37:13Speaker 9: win that competition. And that's why I was just kind
- 1:37:15Speaker 9: of surprised. Again, it's kind of a bygone concept that
- 1:37:19Speaker 9: a guy is okay staying at a program and developing.
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: So hats off to Austin Mack as well as for
- 1:37:25Speaker 9: the Kailn de Bor thing. I think there's a healthy
- 1:37:27Speaker 9: amount of not so much doubt. I think there's sort
- 1:37:33Speaker 9: of a prove it to me, people begging him to
- 1:37:35Speaker 9: prove it to me because they want to believe in him.
- 1:37:37Speaker 9: Like there's some ten percent that are always negative. Remove
- 1:37:41Speaker 9: them for a second. Let's go like with the core
- 1:37:43Speaker 9: fan base, they got high expectations, but that was always
- 1:37:46Speaker 9: going to be the case if you went to Alabama.
- 1:37:49Speaker 9: I think they're looking and they're saying, we were dying
- 1:37:51Speaker 9: to have a reason to believe. And it's not like
- 1:37:53Speaker 9: they went seven and six, they went to the playoff,
- 1:37:55Speaker 9: they won a playoff game, they were beat to death
- 1:37:58Speaker 9: at the end of the year. What they want is
- 1:38:00Speaker 9: they want to look like Miami looks like on the
- 1:38:02Speaker 9: line of scrimmage. That's what they want to look like. Yes,
- 1:38:04Speaker 9: like they want the idea that when someone faces them,
- 1:38:07Speaker 9: they fear that they're facing a bully instead of you're
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: Alabama and you're going to play Indiana and you're trying
- 1:38:14Speaker 9: to find ways, like a slide of hands, smoking mirrors,
- 1:38:17Speaker 9: let's see how we can hang in this game. That
- 1:38:18Speaker 9: should never be the vibe with Alabama. So I think
- 1:38:22Speaker 9: that's the vibe from the fan base right now. Now.
- 1:38:25Speaker 9: You just fired an offensive line coach and you get
- 1:38:28Speaker 9: a guy from USC in there, and there's a lot
- 1:38:30Speaker 9: of hope that like, Okay, that's going to help us
- 1:38:31Speaker 9: turn the corner and now we'll be able to run
- 1:38:33Speaker 9: the ball again. And look, I sit here from the outside,
- 1:38:37Speaker 9: not even halfway claiming to know the ins and outs
- 1:38:40Speaker 9: of why they can't run the ball. I just know
- 1:38:43Speaker 9: that that's got to get fixed. That's got to be
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: a non negotiable. Yeah, So that's the thing I'm watching for.
- 1:38:47Speaker 9: They're bringing in an excellent true freshman, but will be
- 1:38:50Speaker 9: a true freshman at tailback. Keelan Russell I think will
- 1:38:53Speaker 9: win that job. But they got a really good quarterback
- 1:38:55Speaker 9: room position situation right now.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:38:58Speaker 9: I think there yet another team. I think they're going
- 1:39:00Speaker 9: to be in the mix, but I'm not ready to say, oh,
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: they've definitively turned some corner yet, cause it's January.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Yep, it's January. Everything else is right now is just
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: speculation and fun. I love I love the conversation around
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: Austin Mac. Austin Mac correct the kid that came in Yeah,
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: during the Rose Bowl. The idea of delayed gratification is
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: such a thing that you said, like it's an old
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: school way of thinking. You see it happening in the
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: Northwest with Dante Dante Moore and choose him choosing to
- 1:39:26Speaker 4: come back for another year when he was clearly the
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: number two pick, and just the way the NFL cycle works,
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: he started to be argued as the number one pick
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: as we got closer and closer. Once he saw his
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: combine numbers all the things, people would find a way
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: to say, this kid's better than for Nana Mendoza, and
- 1:39:41Speaker 4: then it'd probably still end up one and two. Hey,
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: he comes back for another year. They also got a kid,
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: Dylan Royola from Nebraska that it's it's very interesting to
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: see culturally Dan Lanning's ability and what seems like Kailen
- 1:39:53Speaker 4: Debora's ability to keep quarterbacks at Bay when it seems
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: like everyone's first inclination is just to run to the
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: transfer portal over and over, but organs out the team.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: I want to talk about. The team I want to
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: talk about is Ohio State. Arthur Smith, friend of mine.
- 1:40:07Speaker 4: He was a GA type of that was kind of
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: like he was a tight ends assistant's assistant when I
- 1:40:13Speaker 4: first got to the Tennessee Titans in twenty fourteen. He
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: was a guy that did all the grunt work, slowly
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: worked his way up, became the OC at the Titans,
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: went over to Atlanta as the head coach, didn't work
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: out there, found himself at the Steelers this year and
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: was interviewing for head coaching jobs after the season. He
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: ends up finding home and the worst possible place, in
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: my opinion is I have so much respect for him
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: and I think he's a great coach in Columbus, Ohio.
- 1:40:35Speaker 4: So now you've got Ryan Day, who is a person
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: that from an NFL perspective, it seemed like there were
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: some rumors rumblings similar to Marcus Freeman of jumping and
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: going to the NFL. His was maybe a little bit
- 1:40:46Speaker 4: lower than Marcus Freeman or Mark S. Freeman had say yeah,
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: I'm not doing that. And now you have an OC
- 1:40:51Speaker 4: and a DC that were NFL head coaches at one point.
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: So I know you had to dig into your bag
- 1:40:57Speaker 4: a little bit with the NFL. But what is Arthur's
- 1:41:00Speaker 4: myth bring to the table. This is his words he
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: used for me. Ohio State has a roster that is
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: better than some NFL rosters right now, and that is
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: a big reason why he chose to go and become
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: an OC at Ohio State. That pissed me off. And
- 1:41:16Speaker 4: my text back was, I'd love to see how good
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: Julian san really is without the aliens around him. Joking.
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: Of course, I think Julian Sann is a great quarterback,
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: But I want to know your perspective from Ohio State.
- 1:41:25Speaker 4: Is this a pissed off Buckeye team?
- 1:41:28Speaker 9: Yeah, of course, clearly, of course it is. Yes, You've
- 1:41:34Speaker 9: built a world there in Ryan Day's Ohio State where
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: I don't know what the closest comp sabans Alabama maybe
- 1:41:42Speaker 9: would be the closest cop of how he could just
- 1:41:45Speaker 9: it's an ecosystem almost. It's not even just a football program,
- 1:41:48Speaker 9: It's an entire ecosystem where it's totally plausible for NFL
- 1:41:53Speaker 9: borderline head coach or former head coaching caliber types to
- 1:41:57Speaker 9: just get a year or two in as a coordinator there.
- 1:42:00Speaker 9: Here's the other beauty, in it. And you'll notice this
- 1:42:02Speaker 9: kind of parallels what Sabin ended up doing. Saban would
- 1:42:06Speaker 9: bring in all these guys at Alabama and he would say,
- 1:42:09Speaker 9: I'm not bringing their system here. They're coming here to
- 1:42:12Speaker 9: run my system. They're coming here to run the Alabama offense.
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: That's kind of what Ohio State is now. It's like
- 1:42:18Speaker 9: Ohio State's got the Ohio State offense. You're gonna come
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: here and run it. We're gonna win, You're gonna look great.
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: If you don't have the opportunities you want now, fast
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: forward eleven months and you will. And so it mutually
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: benefits all of us. And that's the that's kind of
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: the ecosystem there now. And I also think once you
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: won a national title. I'm not saying the pressure is
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: ever off. You're always under immist pressure as the head
- 1:42:41Speaker 9: coach at Ohio State, but I think now it's more
- 1:42:43Speaker 9: just purely competitive pressure. There's not an ounce of job
- 1:42:46Speaker 9: security pressure, not that there ever should have been, but
- 1:42:48Speaker 9: there was, but there's no more of that. Like your process,
- 1:42:51Speaker 9: your methods are proven, and now you I mean you
- 1:42:55Speaker 9: just it's rints repeat and you know, like we just said,
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: with three other four other teams. You're gonna be there
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: every year. They were already there before they won the title.
- 1:43:04Speaker 9: They were in position. Yeah, they couldn't get over the
- 1:43:07Speaker 9: Michigan hump. But even before that, that Georgia's semi final
- 1:43:10Speaker 9: game where they miss a field goal at midnight in
- 1:43:12Speaker 9: the semi finals, they would have gone on to slaughter
- 1:43:15Speaker 9: TCU like that. They would have easily gone on to
- 1:43:17Speaker 9: do that. So they're that close to winning a title
- 1:43:19Speaker 9: four years prior. It's like Ryan Day's always been a stud.
- 1:43:22Speaker 9: He's always been that guy. Now my question to you is,
- 1:43:26Speaker 9: you know, good andwell, he had multiple candidates for this
- 1:43:28Speaker 9: coordinator position, right, do you think that? And I'm not
- 1:43:32Speaker 9: saying this is the way it worked. Let's just say
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: for argument's sake, Ryan Day has six finalists for this job,
- 1:43:41Speaker 9: and they're all pretty equal in his mind, knowing the
- 1:43:44Speaker 9: relationship you guys have now well established. Yeah, do you
- 1:43:48Speaker 9: think if he knows that picking option five is going
- 1:43:52Speaker 9: to put you on tilt emotionally a little bit, that
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: that's enough to push option five over the finish line
- 1:43:58Speaker 9: and get Option five in this case smith the job.
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: So you're saying, does Ryan Day think about me so much?
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: That he's making coaching hires in order to get out
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: of my skin.
- 1:44:11Speaker 9: If now this is not that it gives a guy
- 1:44:15Speaker 9: a leg up, if all the candidates are pretty equal,
- 1:44:18Speaker 9: like he thinks, I could close my eyes and throw
- 1:44:20Speaker 9: a dart. Whichever balloon it hits, I'll win no matter what.
- 1:44:24Speaker 9: If option number five there author Smith comes with the
- 1:44:29Speaker 9: added benefit of keeping you up at night. Is Ryan
- 1:44:32Speaker 9: Day making the hire of option five.
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: One hundred absolutely one hundred percent. And it's like, I'll
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: people like probably sitting there right now and be like, oh, Taylor,
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: it's main character syndrome. Listen, Ryan Day declined coming on
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: busting with the boys, and then they beat it. They
- 1:44:47Speaker 4: beat Michigan, and twelve hours later it was oh, by
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: the way, he has availability now. So Ryan Day is
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: playing chess in my brain right now. He's got the
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: twentieth floor Penthouse sweet in my brain, and he's got
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: free range because he's done it. And as much as
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: I don't like it, I respect the man now like
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: he is he is doing a good job of trolling.
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: And by hiring Arthur Smith, who I consider a friend,
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: is just crazy. And what I consider even crazier is
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: I had to find out on the internet, Josh Pate
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: that that Arthur Smith took this job, and I had
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: to find out for my own bustle with the boy's
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: account that he took this job. And I know this
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: is all Ryan Day's doing. Just get under my skin
- 1:45:28Speaker 4: because you're right, they're gonna win no matter what.
- 1:45:30Speaker 9: Uh I got. I got a text. I'll let you
- 1:45:33Speaker 9: guess who sent this to me right now. It says
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: today is Monday, Tomorrow is Tuesday, but every day is
- 1:45:41Speaker 9: Ryan Day.
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: That son of a bitch man.
- 1:45:48Speaker 9: Good luck Arthur Smith.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: I got Whittingham, I got Bryce under it with an
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: actual quarterback coach. I'm not work good, I'm I'm exactly.
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: I am back. Don't you worry about me. Josh Beck
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: you heard of him. He's going, Hey, we're gonna have
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: a creative offense. We have an exciting offense. Josh you
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: we appreciate you. Thank you for taking the time from Georgia.
- 1:46:08Speaker 4: You're the man I'm looking I'm so looking forward to you,
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: me and Willie see chasing tornadoes this year.
- 1:46:15Speaker 9: It's amazing sniffing out on the open plant. You know
- 1:46:18Speaker 9: what we may end up in Norman, Oklahoma. You got
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: some unsettled scores to finish there as well, So who
- 1:46:23Speaker 9: knows where will end?
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:46:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Mitch's mouth and bud light question to me? Listen,
- 1:46:28Speaker 4: anyone would do anything for a nice cold bud light?
- 1:46:31Speaker 9: All right?
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: I don't know if we have the camera, we have
- 1:46:32Speaker 4: a whole keg sitting right here. What is something that
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: Josh Pate would do anything for it? And you cannot
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: say anything about family strictly selfish?
- 1:46:41Speaker 9: Okay, so it can be selfish. I don't have to
- 1:46:44Speaker 9: give the requisite.
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: Yeah, no, no, no family. We all know you throw throw
- 1:46:49Speaker 4: that out now we're done with that.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Maybe something weather related.
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: Ooh, maybe something I think he's already said on the show.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: Me personally, if I'm in Josh Pate's Josh Pate's brain,
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: I think I know what you should say. It's whether
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: or not you say it or not.
- 1:47:05Speaker 9: Does that have anything to do with private aviation?
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: Now it does?
- 1:47:09Speaker 9: Yeah? All right, there is a dream scenario you and I.
- 1:47:14Speaker 9: We have spoken about the joint private jet venture many
- 1:47:17Speaker 9: times and our big, our big hang up is what
- 1:47:19Speaker 9: we would spray paint on the side. But let's just
- 1:47:22Speaker 9: table that for a second. I mean, imagine private helicopter
- 1:47:26Speaker 9: access during a chase, because at that point you're no
- 1:47:30Speaker 9: longer handcuffed by the winding roads and limited access, and
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: you just you go after it, you attack it.
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: That So you want private helicopter access to chase a
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: tornado which is horrible weather. Yes, that sounds terrifying. I
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: thought you were sit there and be like buy a plane,
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: and I'd be like, hell, yes, that is one hundred
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: percent that if I could do any thing, that would
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: probably a Suffern family, Well I would want that. But
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: a private helicopter.
- 1:48:05Speaker 9: I gotta have maneuverability. All my light went out. I
- 1:48:07Speaker 9: gotta have maneuverability.
- 1:48:08Speaker 8: Yeah that.
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: Sound dude, that sounds so scary to me.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: Also sounds so sick.
- 1:48:14Speaker 4: It sounds so sick to be in a helicopter. How
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: close can you get to a tornado in a helicopter?
- 1:48:19Speaker 9: Buddy, there's there's It seems to me there's only one
- 1:48:20Speaker 9: way to find out.
- 1:48:22Speaker 4: I love it. You know what, I'm getting on that
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: helicopter with you. I'm getting on that helicopter with you.
- 1:48:26Speaker 9: Yeah, I got I got some forms you'll need to
- 1:48:28Speaker 9: fill out, but yeah, yeah, I welcome that.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: They'll be they'll be filled out with white knuckles. I'll
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: be so terrified, but I'll do it all right, Josh.
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: I appreciate you. Brother. Let's give a run a poss
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: just me and Mitch giving you a run a poster.
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: But this stance. Let me know when you head back.
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: You mentioned Wednesday. If it is Wednesday, just keep me posted.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: I want to make sure my boy's safe.
- 1:48:46Speaker 9: We'll do I'll be in touch, all.
