- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous, It's Lala Kent. Welcome to untraditionally, Laala. Hello, gorgeous,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome to untraditionally, Lala. When I tell you I am
- 0:11Speaker 1: just having a love affair, I'm starstruck.
- 0:15Speaker 2: She needs no introduction.
- 0:17Speaker 1: She's motherfucking derey Kemsley, Hello, gorgeous.
- 0:21Speaker 3: Hello, I'm so happy to be here.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm so happy to have you.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And I have to say I feel like I've seen
- 0:29Speaker 1: you recently because you're all over my television, But I
- 0:34Speaker 1: have not seen you since we did watch What Happens
- 0:36Speaker 1: Live Together, and I was maybe two months postpartum.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Yes, and I was marveling at how incredible you looked.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Well, thank yond beyond. But yes, we had dinner in
- 0:46Speaker 3: New York City.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we were going to do a lap
- 0:48Speaker 1: around this bar and I was going to boom fish everybody.
- 0:51Speaker 2: All these men think you like her boobs. It's like
- 0:54Speaker 2: in a few months, they won't look this way. It's
- 0:56Speaker 2: called jugs, baby.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Yes, they didn't realize that they were full.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Of milk, which is some people may be into.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Oh there are people into that. It's a whole fetish thing.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Maybe I should have started only fans at that time.
- 1:09Speaker 4: You know what, honey, you probably could have made a
- 1:11Speaker 4: lot of money. I know, think about those people that
- 1:14Speaker 4: have those kinds of fetishes, They will pay top dollar,
- 1:18Speaker 4: that is what I heard. Yeah, and think about it really.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I mean there's one thing you know, you like a
- 1:26Speaker 4: little spank, you like a little dog collar, a ball
- 1:30Speaker 4: in the mouth, Yeah, one of those things. I mean,
- 1:33Speaker 4: I don't want to start going on, and I'm.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like, I'm feeling like these maybe things that you like to.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Do to.
- 1:40Speaker 4: I know, funny enough, No, No, I'm trying to think
- 1:45Speaker 4: what is my craziest God, it's been fifteen years since
- 1:50Speaker 4: I've had sex with someone other than my husband.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Really.
- 1:55Speaker 1: You know what though, that I feel like that is
- 1:58Speaker 1: so relatable. You fall into like being comfortable, and then
- 2:02Speaker 1: you fall into a marriage where you're not stepping out
- 2:05Speaker 1: of course, you're going to be like you entered the
- 2:08Speaker 1: world of dating and being single and it's really really
- 2:13Speaker 1: hard where you've been comfortable for so long and now
- 2:16Speaker 1: you're supposed to be intimate with just like this brand
- 2:18Speaker 1: new person.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Yes, it was definitely that I think for a while.
- 2:23Speaker 4: And you know, the really hard part, Lala is that
- 2:27Speaker 4: it didn't It didn't take him very long. You know,
- 2:31Speaker 4: he snapped right into it, and I don't really know
- 2:34Speaker 4: exactly what he was doing until I saw, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 4: him kissing that girl on the street, you know, which
- 2:41Speaker 4: was all over the tabloids. That was actually when I
- 2:44Speaker 4: filed for divorce. But I don't know if it's men.
- 2:46Speaker 4: I don't know if it's him, I don't know if
- 2:48Speaker 4: it's me. I was still processing, but more than anything,
- 2:53Speaker 4: I was mothering hard, really hard, and I was so
- 2:58Speaker 4: so focused on the care kids just being the least
- 3:02Speaker 4: affected as possible because they were at such vulnerable ages.
- 3:06Speaker 4: You know, they were eight and ten, and they are these,
- 3:09Speaker 4: you know, beautiful, innocent, sweet kind children, and I was
- 3:14Speaker 4: so afraid that because p K and I could not
- 3:19Speaker 4: get to a place where we were communicating and it
- 3:22Speaker 4: was amicable, I was dangerously afraid that they were going
- 3:26Speaker 4: to be changed or affected in some way. So I
- 3:29Speaker 4: was so hyper focused on them that my social life
- 3:33Speaker 4: took a back seat. And really it's only now here
- 3:37Speaker 4: we are, coming up on two years where I yearned
- 3:41Speaker 4: for it, you know, like I'm ready. I'm absolutely ready.
- 3:46Speaker 4: You know, has a girlfriend. He's a moused Yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 3: She's younger, she you know inappropriate than him.
- 3:54Speaker 4: But he's the nice thing is he's never really gone
- 3:57Speaker 4: for like the super young.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Okay, well that is very nice.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yes, Well he has older children as well, So.
- 4:03Speaker 2: How old are his other two kids?
- 4:05Speaker 4: So his boy is thirty okay, he's going to be
- 4:08Speaker 4: thirty one in bus six weeks. His middle daughter just
- 4:14Speaker 4: turned twenty six, and the baby.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Twenty four?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Three three, he's got three yep.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Yeah, can I tell you though, Dreie, I don't think
- 4:26Speaker 1: I have watched many men and they don't care if
- 4:29Speaker 1: their girlfriend is the same age as their daughter. So
- 4:31Speaker 1: I do appreciate that part because it gets funky when
- 4:36Speaker 1: you see dad bringing home really young chicks and your
- 4:40Speaker 1: kids are exposed to that. Yeah, that's always been a
- 4:43Speaker 1: fear of mine. Yes, where I'm like, I don't want
- 4:46Speaker 1: my kid, my one kid, to experience things that just
- 4:51Speaker 1: are not healthy. And he's twenty years older than me.
- 4:54Speaker 1: What was the age difference with you?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Wow? I didn't realize he was twenty years older.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yes, but you are.
- 4:59Speaker 3: You're so young.
- 5:01Speaker 4: You know, it's crazy because you've lived such a full
- 5:03Speaker 4: life already, right, but you're so young. PQ and I
- 5:08Speaker 4: nine years apart. That's not bad, No, no, not at all.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It really never felt like there was a big age gap.
- 5:16Speaker 4: It's very actually, you know, I was like I felt
- 5:21Speaker 4: slightly younger, okay, but mostly like in the genre of
- 5:25Speaker 4: music or when we talk about television shows, all right,
- 5:28Speaker 4: well that's before my time, you know.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But it was more in like a fun, cheeky way.
- 5:34Speaker 2: How did it go south?
- 5:36Speaker 3: Oh god?
- 5:38Speaker 4: Well, I think the Home Invasion in twenty twenty one.
- 5:42Speaker 4: You know, when I look back and obviously writing the book,
- 5:45Speaker 4: I had to go back and you know, visit memories
- 5:49Speaker 4: and I sat with them, you know, some things. There
- 5:52Speaker 4: was a lot of reflection and you know, you think
- 5:57Speaker 4: about these things in such so much much more depth.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And when I was writing the book, a lot of
- 6:04Speaker 4: things were coming to mind, you know, was the Home Invasion.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I was really affected.
- 6:10Speaker 4: I was living in the height of PTSD for about
- 6:13Speaker 4: two and a half years, could you not, truly, And
- 6:16Speaker 4: I was a shell of myself and I couldn't come
- 6:18Speaker 4: out of it. And I've always been that girl that
- 6:21Speaker 4: can tap into an inner strength, okay, you know whenever
- 6:24Speaker 4: I need to, and I couldn't do it, and I couldn't.
- 6:27Speaker 4: They were just there was like this irrational fear that
- 6:30Speaker 4: was constant, and again mothering and my kids didn't know.
- 6:36Speaker 4: So I was putting on, you know, a very very strong,
- 6:40Speaker 4: solid act for my children.
- 6:43Speaker 3: But p K, like I really really needed.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Him, you know, he was always my pillar of strength,
- 6:51Speaker 4: you know, my safety net. And because I was the
- 6:55Speaker 4: strong one and I was the one that handled everything,
- 6:58Speaker 4: I really only when I needed him or when I
- 7:01Speaker 4: went to him. It was like reinforcement, you know. Yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 4: so he's good at that, but the constant or the
- 7:10Speaker 4: long term not so great at So after the home invasion,
- 7:14Speaker 4: immediately after, you know, for a couple of weeks, he
- 7:17Speaker 4: was very he was he was there, he was supportive.
- 7:22Speaker 4: But then it was like he wanted, okay, let's yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 4: let's work. Where's my deary And obviously I couldn't snap
- 7:30Speaker 4: out of it like that, and I was really struggling,
- 7:32Speaker 4: and he took off and he really spent the majority
- 7:37Speaker 4: of two years in London. Yeah, and it in those
- 7:42Speaker 4: two years, I really think that started to become It
- 7:46Speaker 4: was like the beginning of the end.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I didn't know that then, but again, when I was
- 7:51Speaker 4: writing the memoir, you know, I was going through you know,
- 7:55Speaker 4: just like the linear process. And I just thought, you
- 7:58Speaker 4: know what, it may makes a lot of sense. And
- 8:01Speaker 4: when you start to have cracks. You know, when PK
- 8:04Speaker 4: and I got together, I said, listen, there's some non
- 8:07Speaker 4: negotiables for me. Trust, honesty, respect, I said, and transparency.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Those they can never go. Okay, we can get through anything,
- 8:17Speaker 4: and I mean anything, We can get through anything as
- 8:20Speaker 4: long as those things are always key. It doesn't matter
- 8:23Speaker 4: what it is, lying, cheating, you know, any of whatever
- 8:28Speaker 4: that is. If you lose respect, you lose transparency, trust
- 8:33Speaker 4: and honesty, forget it. And I started to see that
- 8:37Speaker 4: things like when we would fight, it was like we
- 8:40Speaker 4: went deeper. You know, we were further than we should
- 8:44Speaker 4: have gone. And you don't talk to someone that you
- 8:48Speaker 4: love that way.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you know.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, And and with what happened, and just life in
- 8:54Speaker 1: general without having something so traumatizing happening. There are experiences
- 8:59Speaker 1: that shape us individually in a partnership, right, and it
- 9:04Speaker 1: is up to the both of you to take those
- 9:06Speaker 1: experiences and continue to evolve and make changes together.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Yes, and there.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Is something that you just said where the crack showing.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I feel like you don't realize that until something like
- 9:20Speaker 1: that happens for me. It was the birth of my daughter,
- 9:23Speaker 1: so something very beautiful, but it was dark yours horrendous.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I can't even imagine. But where you you can't ignore
- 9:31Speaker 1: the cracks any longer. Do you think that they were
- 9:34Speaker 1: always there and this just put them on display?
- 9:37Speaker 3: Definitely? Definitely not Peka, Definitely not.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 9:42Speaker 4: However, I would say there was probably right before the
- 9:49Speaker 4: home invasion, like for the first oh, I don't know,
- 9:52Speaker 4: let's see I was. I'm gonna have to do the
- 9:54Speaker 4: math in my head. But I would say the first
- 9:57Speaker 4: seven or eight years, maybe nine years, I mean, we
- 10:01Speaker 4: were as solid as they come, okay, I mean truly
- 10:04Speaker 4: truly solid, indestructible, and very much in love.
- 10:09Speaker 2: I mean I could see that. You could see that
- 10:12Speaker 2: when you watch the show.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Truly truly, I mean he was.
- 10:16Speaker 4: I never thought in a million years that p K
- 10:18Speaker 4: and I would not stay together forever, truly never ever, ever, Lalla.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Then I think that you know p K would say
- 10:26Speaker 4: the show, I wouldn't.
- 10:29Speaker 2: He blames the show.
- 10:30Speaker 4: He he thinks, I don't know he blames the show. However,
- 10:35Speaker 4: he puts a lot of emphasis on the fact that
- 10:37Speaker 4: the show hurt our marriage.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And does he feel that way from the time you
- 10:44Speaker 1: guys entered it started affecting the marriage or was there
- 10:48Speaker 1: a specific season an incident where he goes after this
- 10:52Speaker 1: season of VH aired, the show kind of took us down.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 4: No, he doesn't reference it. I've never heard him reference
- 11:01Speaker 4: a season.
- 11:02Speaker 2: However, you guys looked very much in love and happy.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Anytime I saw you guys on camera, I was like,
- 11:07Speaker 1: oh my gosh, this makes so much sense. You can
- 11:09Speaker 1: just tell that their partners. He was very supportive when
- 11:11Speaker 1: you started the bathing suit line.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I know, I know, very supportive, and we were actually
- 11:17Speaker 4: really codependent, like we did everything together and he was
- 11:21Speaker 4: like my favorite person to be with.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I mean, it's crazy to even think about, especially with
- 11:26Speaker 4: how the last couple of years have been, because I
- 11:29Speaker 4: don't know how you go from that and someone who's family,
- 11:32Speaker 4: like truly family. I thought of him as he's my blood,
- 11:38Speaker 4: to having somebody do the things that he's done.
- 11:44Speaker 2: It's very disorienting.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Wow, where mind fuck it is?
- 11:48Speaker 1: And it's hard like you saying that you dove into
- 11:51Speaker 1: like mommy mode and he was out doing what he
- 11:55Speaker 1: was doing. I do think that it's most men they
- 11:59Speaker 1: just are wired differently. Like when we experience heartbreak, we
- 12:02Speaker 1: hold on to the memories and we hold on to
- 12:04Speaker 1: what we've built and the foundation that we had, and
- 12:07Speaker 1: it's so easy for them to just walk away from
- 12:10Speaker 1: it all while we tap into how will this affect
- 12:14Speaker 1: my children?
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yes?
- 12:15Speaker 2: How do I make this as easy as possible?
- 12:17Speaker 1: Like you said, your kids are very much aware that
- 12:20Speaker 1: I had parents that were together and now they're not together.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yes, yes, And.
- 12:26Speaker 1: It resonates with me that two years in you are
- 12:30Speaker 1: finally coming to maybe I will go out and date
- 12:34Speaker 1: and dabble. Because women don't have the luxury especially mothers.
- 12:39Speaker 1: We don't have the luxury of moving like men. But
- 12:42Speaker 1: also we also don't get we say that women have
- 12:46Speaker 1: come so far, we have not. I've looked at the
- 12:49Speaker 1: comments section on Occasion Scary Place.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I know it is.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Mostly women who are ripping me to shreds. It makes
- 12:58Speaker 1: me sick, right, it makes me sick too. And when
- 13:02Speaker 1: things were not the same with you and PK, and
- 13:05Speaker 1: you knew that you were going into a new season,
- 13:07Speaker 1: because now it's been two seasons that you've been dealing
- 13:09Speaker 1: with this, that's right. What was your mental state? Did
- 13:12Speaker 1: you ever think like, maybe I don't want to go
- 13:14Speaker 1: back and I should focus on my mental health.
- 13:18Speaker 2: By the way, Deie, I have been where you.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Are, and it is suffocating and you're in survival and
- 13:26Speaker 1: you turn into a fucking warrior and anybody who doesn't
- 13:29Speaker 1: stand with you is the fucking.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Oh my god, yes you feel I mean you're already
- 13:35Speaker 4: You're already on reserves, right, so, and I had I
- 13:40Speaker 4: feel like I've been in this place without a break
- 13:43Speaker 4: for two years, and prior to that, I was dealing
- 13:46Speaker 4: with PTSD.
- 13:47Speaker 3: So really, you're not only in reserves.
- 13:50Speaker 2: You even come up for air in a long time.
- 13:52Speaker 3: A long time, yeah, a long time.
- 13:54Speaker 4: But now you know, as you said, the two year
- 13:58Speaker 4: mark and after so this season was difficult. It was
- 14:02Speaker 4: really hard to answer your question. It was this season
- 14:07Speaker 4: that I thought, you know what, I really really debated
- 14:10Speaker 4: going back. I thought I need I think I should
- 14:13Speaker 4: take a year off. Okay, we were, you know, in
- 14:16Speaker 4: this acrimonious divorce. It wasn't as bad as it is
- 14:21Speaker 4: now or now it's just so public and you know,
- 14:25Speaker 4: this new wave of you know, the court document and leaking,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you know, attaching personal text messages and making these claims,
- 14:35Speaker 4: and you know, putting a narrative out there into the public.
- 14:40Speaker 4: When you start involving the public, when you have a
- 14:43Speaker 4: divorce truly in the public, you know, and you're litigating
- 14:47Speaker 4: in the public, You're inviting a whole world of destruction,
- 14:53Speaker 4: right and it to me, it makes absolutely no sense
- 14:58Speaker 4: when you share two children, especially that they are now
- 15:01Speaker 4: going to school. They were homeschooled, so they were living
- 15:04Speaker 4: in a bubble for a while.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Now they're going to school.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I know the parents, you know that they pay attention,
- 15:10Speaker 4: and parents, unfortunately are not smart.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Not everyone. It's smart enough not.
- 15:16Speaker 4: To tell your twelve year old ten year old you know,
- 15:20Speaker 4: oh I see this one. So luckily that hasn't played
- 15:24Speaker 4: a part in our lives, but I know it's around
- 15:27Speaker 4: the corner.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I can feel it, right.
- 15:30Speaker 4: So unfortunately, now the divorce has gone in there and
- 15:33Speaker 4: I know I've gone off a tangent.
- 15:35Speaker 2: But no, this is the podcast of Tangenting.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Okay, oh just for a baby.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Well, going into season fifteen, I very much felt like
- 15:44Speaker 4: I wanted I thought I should take a year off,
- 15:48Speaker 4: and I was debating it because financially, it's very hard
- 15:51Speaker 4: to walk away, especially because I was you know, it's
- 15:56Speaker 4: no longer a luxury.
- 15:57Speaker 3: You know, I'm supporting our children and myself.
- 16:01Speaker 4: But I really felt like when I was going through everything,
- 16:06Speaker 4: I thought, you know, it makes sense for me to
- 16:08Speaker 4: take a year off. And I can't say I should
- 16:11Speaker 4: I shouldn't. I don't really believe in regrets, Lalla, I don't.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I think it's a useless thought and sentimental. There's nothing
- 16:17Speaker 4: you can do about it, exactly exactly, so it is
- 16:20Speaker 4: what it is. But I really had this very strong
- 16:23Speaker 4: feeling that, you know, it was not going to be right.
- 16:27Speaker 4: I don't think I was in the right headspace.
- 16:31Speaker 3: I think that I was.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Not as grounded as I needed to be, and when
- 16:39Speaker 4: you do a show like this, you really need to
- 16:40Speaker 4: be grounded.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 4: I really felt like I need to focus on the
- 16:45Speaker 4: children and focus on moving this divorce forward, trying to
- 16:50Speaker 4: trying to connect with p K, which I knew was
- 16:53Speaker 4: going to be the best situation for all of us. Right,
- 16:56Speaker 4: Ultimately that's the end goal, because how do you effectively
- 17:00Speaker 4: co parent if you cannot have respectful communication, Well, you don't.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You move into parallel parenting, which is where I'm at,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and it's difficult, and both people involved, have to be
- 17:15Speaker 1: willing to do all of the things that were non
- 17:17Speaker 1: negotiables in your relationship an intimate partnership with PK. You
- 17:22Speaker 1: now have to take those and apply it to a
- 17:24Speaker 1: co parenting relationship, which is very hard for men that
- 17:29Speaker 1: are a certain type of man.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Well, yeah, to do that's exactly Right's.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Transparency, the honesty, all of the things. And I know
- 17:38Speaker 1: that when I went through so I wasn't I didn't
- 17:41Speaker 1: go through a divorce, so none of my stuff was public.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Custody is a completely separate like it's closed off. No
- 17:47Speaker 1: one knows the details once you enter a divorce. That
- 17:51Speaker 1: is like fair game for everybody. And I can't imagine
- 17:54Speaker 1: how suffocating it is because it's out there, and then
- 17:57Speaker 1: you got to go talk about it on your show, yes,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and deal with the aftermath. That's right, which is everyone's opinion,
- 18:05Speaker 1: PK's opinion. How did the audience react to this season?
- 18:10Speaker 1: We both spoke about how we live in bubbles. Yes,
- 18:13Speaker 1: what was the honest reaction from people towards you after
- 18:17Speaker 1: this season?
- 18:19Speaker 4: So I'm going to be perfectly honest because I've had
- 18:24Speaker 4: such a you know, fickle journey with the audience over
- 18:29Speaker 4: the last almost decade, I learned to stay away from
- 18:34Speaker 4: reading a lot of threats, so I would have to
- 18:37Speaker 4: ask someone to be honest.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I don't know, Yeah, I know, I will say this.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I think people had what I did here is after
- 18:46Speaker 4: the reunion, So I don't really know during the season,
- 18:50Speaker 4: and maybe you could tell me, but I know after
- 18:52Speaker 4: the reunion, you know, people were having very strong feelings,
- 18:56Speaker 4: you know. To be perfectly honest, though, and it was
- 18:59Speaker 4: hard from me to watch hard. I knew where I was,
- 19:03Speaker 4: I knew where I was emotionally, and it was hard
- 19:05Speaker 4: for you to watch then, just like how I was
- 19:09Speaker 4: very much in my own feelings, okay, and those feelings
- 19:13Speaker 4: were raw and they were I wasn't able to take
- 19:18Speaker 4: a step back. I wasn't able to see things the
- 19:22Speaker 4: way I do typically, where even if I have an opinion,
- 19:27Speaker 4: I'll try to see someone else's side.
- 19:30Speaker 3: You see what I mean.
- 19:31Speaker 2: That's survival. You didn't you.
- 19:35Speaker 1: This is what I gathered from it because I watched
- 19:37Speaker 1: these I gathered from this season. You were definitely harsh, right, yes,
- 19:45Speaker 1: But because I've been there, yeah, where I'm like, what
- 19:50Speaker 1: I am dealing with on a regular basis outside of
- 19:54Speaker 1: this world yes, would bring most people, they would put
- 19:58Speaker 1: them in the fucking grave. So when I saw your
- 20:02Speaker 1: reaction to people, it was like, this is a woman
- 20:08Speaker 1: who is absolutely terrified of her future, has no one
- 20:12Speaker 1: to fall back on but herself.
- 20:14Speaker 2: For the first.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Time, she is alone on an island, and it's like,
- 20:20Speaker 1: figure out how to get off of it.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yep, that is survival.
- 20:22Speaker 1: And let me tell you, when you can look at
- 20:25Speaker 1: the person that you pro created with, loved on such
- 20:30Speaker 1: a deep and intimate level, they became a part of you,
- 20:32Speaker 1: When you can walk away from that, you can fucking
- 20:36Speaker 1: walk away from anybody. It's like, this is no problem.
- 20:38Speaker 1: So when you reacted to Kyle and Erica that way,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I understood. And you're not not meaning you just women
- 20:49Speaker 1: who are put in those positions. You're not yourself. You're
- 20:53Speaker 1: going to war for your heart and soul, your children. Right.
- 20:57Speaker 1: The most vulnerable position that a woman can be in
- 20:59Speaker 1: is entering a divorce and a custody battle. And in
- 21:04Speaker 1: those systems, the women are looked at as volatile, emotional, unhinged, scorned.
- 21:11Speaker 2: So you got to keep a brave face.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And let me tell you, even when you act logically,
- 21:16Speaker 1: the moment that that changes. It's see, I knew it unhinged, right,
- 21:21Speaker 1: so I understood where you were coming from.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I definitely did.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I love that.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Really, I'm not just gassing you up. Oh no, no, no,
- 21:29Speaker 2: I have related. I've been here.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Yes, no, And what I do know of you, you're
- 21:36Speaker 4: not the type to gas someone up.
- 21:37Speaker 3: You know it's coming from your heart.
- 21:39Speaker 4: I know that you fully mean it, and I can
- 21:41Speaker 4: see also even in your in your face, you really understand.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I do understand.
- 21:48Speaker 4: You know exactly what you said, and I had been
- 21:51Speaker 4: going through it, you know, just to give you a
- 21:54Speaker 4: little context, because there's a lot that people don't know
- 21:58Speaker 4: from the beginning. And p K at first, well, actually,
- 22:03Speaker 4: and I talk about this in the book.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I want to deep dive into your book, by the way.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Yes, yes, well I'll say this. When when we agreed
- 22:12Speaker 4: to separate, it was actually PK was sober and he
- 22:17Speaker 4: had his sober coach over and it was his sober
- 22:20Speaker 4: coach who sort of told me that we should take
- 22:27Speaker 4: you know, we should separate.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Were you seeing a couple's therapist at any point in time, yes,
- 22:43Speaker 1: And the couple's therapist never said to you this feels
- 22:47Speaker 1: like you need to take a break no, but the
- 22:49Speaker 1: sober coach did.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That's very interesting to me.
- 22:51Speaker 3: It wasn't It wasn't him that said it. It was obviously.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Pkkay, So he was just a mouthpiece exactly got it.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Yes, he didn't have the courage to sit down with
- 23:01Speaker 4: me and say it. That's what I gather because something
- 23:04Speaker 4: that really should have been a conversation between him and I,
- 23:09Speaker 4: he just it wasn't. So I was blindsided, really blindsided.
- 23:15Speaker 4: But like I said, we have two small children, two
- 23:18Speaker 4: children very vulnerable ages, and within twenty four hours I realized, Listen,
- 23:23Speaker 4: the best way for everyone, the best the way everybody
- 23:29Speaker 4: is going to what's going to serve us all best
- 23:32Speaker 4: is if p K and I can put all of
- 23:34Speaker 4: our differences aside and just be respectful communicate. He can
- 23:40Speaker 4: do whatever he wants. This is what he needs, this
- 23:42Speaker 4: is what never mind. Like I was prepared to put
- 23:45Speaker 4: my emotions to the side and just focus on being friends,
- 23:49Speaker 4: preserve a bond that we have, happy to work through
- 23:53Speaker 4: things if you wanted to, in a safe place and
- 23:55Speaker 4: you know, with a therapist. But other than that, we
- 23:58Speaker 4: just stay friendly, am and we can co parent, and
- 24:03Speaker 4: that's all I was focused on. He agreed in the moment,
- 24:07Speaker 4: but a week later it changed and there was no
- 24:10Speaker 4: communication and he basically took off, and in doing that
- 24:16Speaker 4: it kickstarted this intense not only anxiety, but it leads
- 24:23Speaker 4: to so many other problems. Our lives are intertwined, right, Yeah,
- 24:28Speaker 4: fourteen years at this point, and then all of a sudden,
- 24:31Speaker 4: there wasn't a handoff. There wasn't like, Okay, this is
- 24:35Speaker 4: what you need to know, this is what I'm going
- 24:37Speaker 4: to do. I was left blind, totally blind, and I
- 24:43Speaker 4: had no visibility on anything, so I didn't even know
- 24:47Speaker 4: a lot of the things that were going on in
- 24:49Speaker 4: our lives.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Over the course of two years, it.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Was one bomb after another landing in my lap, none
- 24:58Speaker 4: of which world the audience know because what I did
- 25:03Speaker 4: share on Housewives. And there's no way I can film
- 25:07Speaker 4: the season when I'm going through this situation with PK
- 25:11Speaker 4: and pretend that things are hunky dory, right. I can't
- 25:15Speaker 4: not to mention that Mauricio and Pik are very good friends.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Kyle is very close to Mauricio. Kyle knows exactly what's
- 25:24Speaker 4: going on with PK and I at any I mean
- 25:28Speaker 4: I know that, So there was no way I was
- 25:31Speaker 4: going to be able to pretend.
- 25:33Speaker 2: No, you can't pretend to your life exactly. Do you
- 25:38Speaker 2: think when.
- 25:39Speaker 1: You say, Kyle, there was no way that Kyle didn't know.
- 25:42Speaker 1: It wasn't coming from your mouth. She was getting PK sided.
- 25:45Speaker 4: One thousand percent. This is what was so frustrating and
- 25:48Speaker 4: infuriating to me.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Did you ever feel comfortable saying, Kyle, we need to
- 25:51Speaker 1: sit down and have a discussion and I need you
- 25:53Speaker 1: to I need you to understand what I deal with.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Did that conversation ever happen?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yes?
- 25:58Speaker 4: It did, Yes, yes, more than once. And this was
- 26:05Speaker 4: the mot This was a really difficult thing for me.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Her mouth was saying I support you, I understand, but
- 26:16Speaker 4: there was also well, he's saying something totally different, and
- 26:21Speaker 4: it felt in my heart that she either wanted to
- 26:28Speaker 4: believe what p K was saying or just questioned what
- 26:35Speaker 4: I was saying. No shore either way, either way, don't
- 26:39Speaker 4: like it exactly.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I get that, and especially you know, Lola.
- 26:43Speaker 4: One thing I have that's come out of this separation
- 26:46Speaker 4: divorce is that I really understand and appreciate the value
- 26:51Speaker 4: of friendships, the women in your life that are so
- 26:55Speaker 4: supportive that lifts you up, that that true, truly, you know,
- 27:01Speaker 4: they enricher life. They help you out of this darkness
- 27:05Speaker 4: that you're living in, you know, if you're going through
- 27:09Speaker 4: an acrimonious divorce, which I had been. So it just
- 27:13Speaker 4: felt very much like she. It felt like she was
- 27:17Speaker 4: in PK's corner.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you feel abandoned by her?
- 27:24Speaker 3: Yes? I did.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Like in the hardest time, Yes, is when you choose
- 27:29Speaker 1: to place Switzerland or say things where you're I'm feeling
- 27:34Speaker 1: like you're kind of more on his side.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Yes, Yes, that was what was really hurtful, especially because
- 27:39Speaker 4: when you know when her and Mo first separated. I
- 27:44Speaker 4: don't know if you know everybody knew this or knows this.
- 27:47Speaker 4: I mean you could see there was one season I
- 27:49Speaker 4: don't even know if it was season fourteen or fifteen,
- 27:53Speaker 4: but they were I mean he leaned in too, like
- 27:56Speaker 4: give her a kiss, and she pulled away. Like you
- 27:58Speaker 4: could tell. They they were not amicable. They weren't like
- 28:02Speaker 4: they are now. And I'm really pleased for them because
- 28:05Speaker 4: they they found, you know, a great place where they're communicating.
- 28:09Speaker 4: They're able to co parent. I mean their children are
- 28:11Speaker 4: slightly you know, they're slightly older. However, they're good friends
- 28:16Speaker 4: and that's great, but you know, she knows what it
- 28:20Speaker 4: was like. Although I think it was her that was
- 28:22Speaker 4: pushing away. In any case, you know, it feels like
- 28:29Speaker 4: I'm going through the hardest time and when I really
- 28:32Speaker 4: needed her support, it really felt like she was in
- 28:37Speaker 4: Moe's corner and Moe was in p case corner.
- 28:40Speaker 3: That makes sense, It.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Makes total sense. So is there any you haven't spoken
- 28:45Speaker 1: to Kyle? Have you spoken to Erica?
- 28:48Speaker 4: We've had some text messages. Yeah, and we'll get together great.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 1: What could happen between you and Kyle that could get
- 28:56Speaker 1: you back to a good place.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Would need to happen is that she would like to
- 29:05Speaker 4: she'd like to meet speak. All she needs to do
- 29:12Speaker 4: really is want to make things better, because I think
- 29:16Speaker 4: you need two people. I'm always open to making things better,
- 29:22Speaker 4: mending fences, that's just my nature anyway. I don't like,
- 29:27Speaker 4: you know, to be on opposite andence. Even if your
- 29:30Speaker 4: men fences and you discover that your friendship has taken
- 29:32Speaker 4: a different shape, that's fine totally, But you know, being
- 29:36Speaker 4: in this situation that we're in now, no, it doesn't
- 29:39Speaker 4: feel nice. This is a long standing friendship. We've known
- 29:43Speaker 4: each other for ten almost ten years. We've been through
- 29:47Speaker 4: a lot, and even whether we've been had her ups
- 29:51Speaker 4: and downs, it doesn't matter somebody that you have.
- 29:56Speaker 3: You know, when you do a show together, you know,
- 29:58Speaker 3: I mean.
- 29:59Speaker 4: You go through an experience, means that the only people
- 30:01Speaker 4: that understand that are the people that are going through it.
- 30:05Speaker 3: And it's really something special.
- 30:07Speaker 4: So I'd hate to see Kyle and I, you know,
- 30:10Speaker 4: not be able to fix things.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Do you think you'll go back for another season?
- 30:15Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'm in there.
- 30:17Speaker 1: You know, you seem like you're in a really in
- 30:20Speaker 1: a good place. I don't want to say a really
- 30:21Speaker 1: good place. You seem like you're in a better place.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, for sure.
- 30:26Speaker 4: A lot, a lot has happened emotionally, you know, I've
- 30:33Speaker 4: reached a point where it's now a non negotiable for me.
- 30:38Speaker 4: I feel like I've everything that kind of could have
- 30:42Speaker 4: happened has happened, and I'm in a place where the
- 30:47Speaker 4: rest I need to get through it. Hopefully we're going
- 30:50Speaker 4: to be able to tie this up sooner rather than later.
- 30:54Speaker 4: I'm not holding onto anger or resentment or any of that.
- 30:58Speaker 3: It doesn't serve me.
- 31:00Speaker 4: It doesn't I don't want to bring it where I'm going, right,
- 31:04Speaker 4: so I'm leaving it behind.
- 31:05Speaker 2: I love this. Yeah.
- 31:07Speaker 1: So on that note, I want to talk about your book,
- 31:11Speaker 1: which we saw you shoot.
- 31:13Speaker 2: The cover is just I mean, come on, thank you.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It is so good.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You finally have a work of art, a body of
- 31:23Speaker 1: your experience that is not the narrative, is not shifted
- 31:27Speaker 1: by editing.
- 31:30Speaker 2: It's your story.
- 31:32Speaker 1: When did you sit there and go, you know what,
- 31:34Speaker 1: now is the time for me to put it out there?
- 31:37Speaker 4: I would say about a couple of months before I
- 31:41Speaker 4: actually signed the deal, it was I felt like it
- 31:46Speaker 4: started to feel right. I had things to say. You know,
- 31:49Speaker 4: I had already lived through a few years of some challenges,
- 31:54Speaker 4: and you know, I was in conversations with some people
- 31:58Speaker 4: and a lot of people in our world, and you know,
- 32:02Speaker 4: certainly in the housewives world, you know, write a book.
- 32:05Speaker 4: And some people had asked me, you don't have a book,
- 32:08Speaker 4: and I always said, over the last nine years, you know, no,
- 32:11Speaker 4: I just I didn't feel like I was ready. You know.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Then I reached a point just before I signed, you know,
- 32:18Speaker 4: with my Fantastic Publishers podium, that.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I felt ready.
- 32:23Speaker 4: I felt like I had a lot to say, and
- 32:25Speaker 4: then things were happening in real time, and I felt
- 32:28Speaker 4: like it would be almost cathartic. Okay, yeah, so you
- 32:33Speaker 4: know it felt right. I also felt like I had
- 32:36Speaker 4: been on television over the years, you know, people had
- 32:40Speaker 4: seen parts of my life. But I felt like it
- 32:43Speaker 4: was time to tell the full story in my own
- 32:46Speaker 4: voice without editing, just like you say, and so you
- 32:51Speaker 4: know that's how the journey started.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Was there ever a part of you that thought, it's
- 33:07Speaker 1: not the right time to write a book because I
- 33:08Speaker 1: don't feel that the story is over.
- 33:10Speaker 4: I thought about that, and that was actually the thought
- 33:13Speaker 4: that I had when I was thinking about writing a book.
- 33:16Speaker 4: But then I thought, wait a minute, that's what two, three, four, five, six,
- 33:20Speaker 4: seven or four I can write.
- 33:24Speaker 3: You know, I need to write one book. You know,
- 33:27Speaker 3: a many books. I can write many especially listen.
- 33:31Speaker 4: It feels like everything that happened before the divorce or
- 33:36Speaker 4: coming up to the divorce is a lot.
- 33:38Speaker 3: It's enough.
- 33:39Speaker 4: You know, there's there can be there will be another chapter,
- 33:44Speaker 4: and that could be a different book.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I love this.
- 33:46Speaker 3: So it did feel like the right time.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Was there any because I know that you touch on
- 33:52Speaker 1: p K and I feel like I can't even call
- 33:55Speaker 1: him an older man because twenty years versus your nine.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I'm like, yes, in the right, in the perfect age range.
- 34:02Speaker 1: But you talk about his charm, his humor and all
- 34:05Speaker 1: of these things, and then venture into him struggling with alcohol.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Did you ever think, do I share this or is
- 34:17Speaker 1: it too much? Did that ever cross your mind?
- 34:19Speaker 4: Of course, of course, I mean not only crossed my mind.
- 34:23Speaker 4: I think it stayed. It took up residence in my
- 34:26Speaker 4: mind and stayed there. And you know, I it was
- 34:30Speaker 4: really important to me that I was very honest and vulnerable,
- 34:39Speaker 4: and I did that, and I'm really pleased. However, in
- 34:44Speaker 4: the process, I had thought the whole time, listen, this
- 34:48Speaker 4: is going to be something that my children end up reading.
- 34:52Speaker 4: You know, they're too young now, and I you know,
- 34:54Speaker 4: I have the luxury of being able to keep them
- 34:58Speaker 4: from reading, you know, something like this, at least for
- 35:01Speaker 4: the next few years. But it's also their father. And truly, honestly, Lala,
- 35:07Speaker 4: we had so many more good years than bad, and
- 35:12Speaker 4: that too needs attention, Like that is the story, That
- 35:19Speaker 4: is the real story. Just because the way things are ending,
- 35:24Speaker 4: you know, have where we've gotten to. I don't need
- 35:27Speaker 4: to write a book that evisceraates him that talks about
- 35:31Speaker 4: all the bad moments when there's so many more good
- 35:35Speaker 4: ones to talk about. And that was the foundation of
- 35:37Speaker 4: who we are, and truth be told. The reason why
- 35:40Speaker 4: it's so heartbreaking now, The reason why I struggled so
- 35:44Speaker 4: much the first year and a half of our separation
- 35:48Speaker 4: was because of the love that I felt deep in
- 35:52Speaker 4: my soul, like and I mean in my blood, in.
- 35:58Speaker 3: All of the parts of.
- 36:00Speaker 4: My body and my mind and my heart. And it's
- 36:04Speaker 4: soul crushing when you have that, and then you find
- 36:08Speaker 4: yourself in a situation where everything that you believed was
- 36:13Speaker 4: your life and would be your life now is no
- 36:17Speaker 4: longer and you haven't had the time to envision it,
- 36:21Speaker 4: to process it, to think about it, never mind actually
- 36:26Speaker 4: be able to plan, whereas I feel like he was
- 36:30Speaker 4: ten steps ahead from the very beginning, and that when
- 36:36Speaker 4: you're playing catchup, that's never fun.
- 36:39Speaker 1: That was like taking a bullet, just the thought of
- 36:44Speaker 1: your life being a certain way time. I have a
- 36:47Speaker 1: strange relationship with yeah, because I feel like we blink
- 36:50Speaker 1: and things can just change drastically and your whole life
- 36:53Speaker 1: looks different.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 36:55Speaker 1: And when you have a love story, the love story
- 36:58Speaker 1: that you have and then it to a close. I
- 37:01Speaker 1: have to imagine you sit there and as you're writing
- 37:04Speaker 1: this and remembering all of those fantastic moments, thinking how
- 37:09Speaker 1: the fuck did I get.
- 37:12Speaker 2: To where I am now?
- 37:14Speaker 1: Yes, and you're writing about this beautiful story, and then
- 37:18Speaker 1: all of the sudden you're writing about the end of it,
- 37:21Speaker 1: and you wonder, like you've probably had an out of
- 37:26Speaker 1: body experience, like how did this happen?
- 37:29Speaker 4: Absolutely, it was deeply emotional at times, deeply and I
- 37:36Speaker 4: had to go really deep too, but I did. I mean,
- 37:40Speaker 4: I went through all of it, which is the crux
- 37:43Speaker 4: of who we are, who we were, and when Pique
- 37:47Speaker 4: talks about, oh, you know, to reach changed or it's
- 37:51Speaker 4: really important. It was important to me that the reader
- 37:56Speaker 4: gets a full picture and understands who we were, who
- 38:01Speaker 4: Pik and were.
- 38:02Speaker 3: At the beginning. I mean, PK was not.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I think people looked at us and they thought, oh,
- 38:09Speaker 4: older man, even though he's own, you know, he's a
- 38:12Speaker 4: decade older. Yeah, older man, younger woman. He's got money,
- 38:18Speaker 4: she's you know. But that wasn't the case at all,
- 38:22Speaker 4: like at all. He was bankrupt when I met him.
- 38:27Speaker 4: He was going through a divorce, three children, three three children.
- 38:32Speaker 1: It's not the ideal man at all, three children going
- 38:36Speaker 1: into bankruptcy.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Yes, exactly, exactly at all.
- 38:41Speaker 4: And meanwhile, I was, you know, living in New York City,
- 38:44Speaker 4: living my best life.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I had been engaged twice.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Wow, And I mean all of this is in the book,
- 38:51Speaker 4: but I had sworn off men after the second engagement,
- 38:54Speaker 4: and I went thirteen months with all. I mean, I
- 38:58Speaker 4: was out with all my friends and my gay best
- 39:00Speaker 4: friend who him and I swore if we never get married,
- 39:04Speaker 4: we're going to.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Marry each other.
- 39:05Speaker 4: And you know, we were running around Manhattan living our
- 39:09Speaker 4: best lives. And they knew when we were out because
- 39:13Speaker 4: in Manhattan, you know, it's like nine women to every man.
- 39:16Speaker 4: So they knew that they kept they were like my watchdogs,
- 39:23Speaker 4: you know, like they were the gatekeepers, right because they
- 39:25Speaker 4: knew I wanted nothing to do with men, nothing to
- 39:27Speaker 4: do with dating. I was focused on my company that
- 39:30Speaker 4: I had started a couple of years before that, and
- 39:34Speaker 4: I was focused on being having fun.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and keeping your inner piece, because we all know,
- 39:39Speaker 1: the moment a man enters, you fucks with your peace.
- 39:43Speaker 4: I mean, it wasn't like that for me for a
- 39:46Speaker 4: long time. Really, Oh my god, A long time. PK
- 39:52Speaker 4: was my piece. He was my whole piece.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I always say they're amazing until they're not. And yeah,
- 39:59Speaker 1: what I love about this book and your journey and
- 40:02Speaker 1: you putting your whole heart and soul even though it
- 40:04Speaker 1: is about you, it's your memoir. Whoever reads it, especially
- 40:11Speaker 1: women who we know the demographic, they're going to understand
- 40:15Speaker 1: that life is so nuanced, that experiences are going to happen,
- 40:21Speaker 1: and you changing. When people say, even about their wife
- 40:25Speaker 1: or soon to be ex wife, they've changed, I should
- 40:28Speaker 1: fucking hope so. And I think your book is going
- 40:32Speaker 1: to allow women to say, you know what, it's okay
- 40:36Speaker 1: for me to make changes just because someone married this version.
- 40:41Speaker 1: How fucking boring to be stuck in that forever. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: think there's going to be a lot of healing that
- 40:48Speaker 1: comes from this, not only for you, but for your readers,
- 40:50Speaker 1: which I like any book that I read that's about somebody,
- 40:54Speaker 1: but I feel like they're telling my story is just
- 40:57Speaker 1: like a warm hug. And I think it's fantastic that
- 41:01Speaker 1: you wrote the book. I think it was therapeutic for you,
- 41:04Speaker 1: as you just said, yep. And when the story is complete,
- 41:07Speaker 1: you'll write another book. Yes, absolutely, I want to leave
- 41:10Speaker 1: it on this. Are we outdating after two years? Do
- 41:15Speaker 1: we have anybody? What's our type?
- 41:17Speaker 3: Okay?
- 41:18Speaker 2: Should we be each other's wing women?
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yes?
- 41:21Speaker 4: We should one million percent. I don't have anyone to
- 41:26Speaker 4: speak of now. Okay, However, if you'll have me on
- 41:31Speaker 4: next time, I'm hoping that answer will be different.
- 41:35Speaker 2: You're always most welcome on here.
- 41:36Speaker 3: Oh, thank you.
- 41:37Speaker 4: I've really enjoyed it, you know, la la listen, It's
- 41:41Speaker 4: like I said earlier, it's been a long time. However,
- 41:45Speaker 4: I I know I'm good at it.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Have we been intimate since?
- 41:52Speaker 3: No?
- 41:53Speaker 1: No?
- 41:54Speaker 3: Really no?
- 41:55Speaker 2: Can I ask you about vibrators?
- 41:57Speaker 3: Like anything? Do we have that love them? Yeah?
- 42:02Speaker 4: Funny enough? I actually you know I forgot about them. Well,
- 42:07Speaker 4: I was in my marriage, but I've I was reminded
- 42:13Speaker 4: of them in my separation.
- 42:16Speaker 2: I love this.
- 42:18Speaker 1: I've recently discovered British men they've never been my type.
- 42:22Speaker 1: With your experience, should I steer clear or should I
- 42:25Speaker 1: dive deep? Oh?
- 42:26Speaker 4: My goodness, you know it's hard. I mean, first of all,
- 42:31Speaker 4: my second fiance was also British.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we have a type. I have a little tie.
- 42:37Speaker 3: I know you know what, I don't know.
- 42:39Speaker 4: It's so much British, but I will say I've never
- 42:42Speaker 4: did an American oh ever, ever.
- 42:45Speaker 1: All right, we'll do a little swapeh by the way,
- 42:49Speaker 1: once I throw the men that you'll never go back.
- 42:52Speaker 1: No oh no, trust me, draw all the vibrators. And
- 42:58Speaker 1: a reminder you guys that Unburdened by Drek Kemsley you
