- 2:00of communism quietly, ruthlessly, courageously. The Night Story Project seventy seven starrying
- 2:09Mister Motor Mister I A Moto Commander Free. It is so simple. The
- 2:24drawing board is here, pencils, rulers, a few lines, and I
- 2:29will unchange you at once. The answer is no. Oh, let's us
- 2:34pray that your stubbornness maybe fraud new Colossal thinking him a critical journey. No
- 2:40profanity, Commander, Please remember I am a minister of the gospel, because
- 2:44they I'll get you for this. Someday I'll beat that. Thank cimonious saving
- 2:49yoursn't turn on the sun lamp again. You could tell us thank you,
- 2:55my dear listen, commander, you look like a holiday in Miami, so
- 3:00terrible sunburns Katawa cool the commander with a little more for haven't say from under
- 3:08three ear. If necessary, I will keep you under that sun lamp until
- 3:12your flesh can be flexed off and fed to the mountain birds. I always
- 3:16get what I want, O you always, and I want Projects seventy seven.
- 3:36The assignment on Project seventy seven began two feet in front of a jet
- 3:40motor frying faster than suns the law. The jet never reached our ears as
- 3:46we streactly crossed the blue certificate thirty five thousand feet. I was mean sent
- 3:51for Tari, Japan, the land of my honored photo a Otoro rushed up
- 3:55to meets, looking white and serene. Beside the sparkling siegean I could see
- 4:00two hundred miles away across the Tata streets, the gloomy coast of Russia.
- 4:15I help orders to report to Captain Thomas Stanni the offer in charge of the
- 4:19United States Labal Experimental Stations at As. The station consisted of two United States
- 4:26Destroyer of course d with doc at the end of which miss only sixth grade
- 4:30anti cut. Captain Stanny nother Santent was in his office. In her case,
- 4:39Randers Free did that loggerboard the night before last, and he has nothing
- 4:43saintin No. He is entirely in charge of budget seventy seven year and anywhere
- 4:47else. Didn't you know that? Yes, because I wondered if you did,
- 4:51when will you like to see Randa Free? And I took the shelter
- 4:54and out nine days ago to win. Amanda Freer wished to test seventy seven
- 4:58of the Sascora Trent, the Tuscarora Trench. It's an onspiring sea, Mistermoto.
- 5:03There's a canyon on the floor of the sea just east of Japan.
- 5:06Our sounding apparatus indicated depths of over five thousand fathoms five thousand, there's almost
- 5:12six miles there go on, even if it's enormous depth, even straight down
- 5:16through six miles of water, seventy seven caused explosions at the bottom of the
- 5:21tuch Aurora, and the tests have been successful. Beyond our wildest dream real.
- 5:26Yes, even underwater seventy seven traveled in extens of two hundred miles an
- 5:30hour. It isn't a torpedo. It's an underwater pullet. Small guest propels
- 5:35with an atomic warhead. It will end submarine warfare. No submersible in the
- 5:40world can elude a guided missile traveling at that speed. Captain Stanley, are
- 5:45you aware that certain details of Protect seventy seven are already in the hands of
- 5:47foreign agents? Which, Tomoto, you're joking? No, it's absolutely top
- 5:51secret. In January, an associated Samanda Pears named Lowell disappeared in Paris.
- 5:57He had one of the anastrophic crystals with him. Yes, yes, I
- 6:00believe Commander's Frear is the missing link. Jet To tells underwater missiles are in
- 6:06the arsenals of every mission in the world. The big obstacle hitting a missile
- 6:11on its costs. Underwater at the high speeds, he is hurtled by the
- 6:15unstocked crystal. Diagrams of the crystal and the exact wavelength figure exist only in
- 6:23two places, Washington and Commander Frere's head. Then he is the only man
- 6:28in the Aureate who can exactly all that the potential enemy needs to know is
- 6:32the figure one followed by a decimal point and five unknown digits. This figure,
- 6:38just as drawing of the crystal equals seventy seven, so that its commander's
- 6:42fear was forced to talk the project to become the property of whomever he talked
- 6:46to order. What can we do, Commander Frear is my responsibility? Who
- 6:49sign last? The officer of the deck storm leave his laboratory and hutty It's
- 6:53six forty five and night before last. Yes, it was the commander's habit
- 6:56to take a walk right A's to dinner every evening, ah where Sir blossoming
- 7:00Shalamar along the Tishima road. We used to send a man along with him,
- 7:03and he insisted he could take care of himself. A missionary named Kisdale
- 7:08saw on past it's the Reverend James Tisdale, a productant missionary. It's a
- 7:12nice guy, not stuff he or anything like that. He has a mission
- 7:15up in the hills, married a native woman, and he saw command of
- 7:17fair row past the mission about seven to fifteen up to the hills freer ways
- 7:21and said, good evening. He hasn't been seen since then. I will
- 7:25begin with a man who saw command of fear. Last, I shall invite
- 7:29myself to tea as a mission of the veterans. James Tiddey just the motive.
- 7:49It is so refreshing to meet someone from the outside world. Thank you.
- 7:54I get lonely for informed conversations. Oh MOUTI thank you devicious A Katawa
- 8:01cheap please, mister Moto. My wife is a Niner woman. She believes
- 8:07that the wife is a slave whose only duty is to serve her husband.
- 8:09She sings to her native customs and refuses to behave as my equal. She
- 8:13is Christian. No, I am leaving her conversion in the hands of the
- 8:18Almighty. I bring the tea masters you and more little cakes too. How
- 8:26thoughtful, I will say, mister Murdo thing you should be honored, mister
- 8:31Moto. That is the first time she's ever done that. That, mister
- 8:35motive is Japanese on America. Thank you very much the tea Kate, our
- 8:43surpassing delicacy. Thank you, it is my honor. Tea. No,
- 8:50thank you, dear. That's all. Yes, you see what I mean.
- 9:01Sometimes I think all the mystery of the Orient is hidden in those beautiful
- 9:03jettis, and their hands so languid, so elegant, the breeding of uncounst
- 9:11centry. Yes, and now rereented. Oh yes, about Commander Fear,
- 9:15I am very upset. The natives here, as you may know, are
- 9:18isles. Yes, I do know. They once occupied the whole of Japans.
- 9:22There are only some twelve thousand of them left now. Their situation is
- 9:26not unlike that of the American Indian at home. But basically they are honest,
- 9:31and I believe that because of this I can help you. And may
- 9:33I ask how the Isrols will talk to me where they would say nothing to
- 9:37an outsider. The country around here is wild and primitive, mostly hill name
- 9:41hunters. Many of them are abandoned. Now. I suspect that a band
- 9:46of them somewhere in the hills have kidnapped Commander Fear and are holding him for
- 9:48ransom. I will ask about it at Prayer meeting. Tone you have a
- 9:54large pace, no, only four hundred converts in three years. But those
- 9:58who haven't braced Christianity are fervent and sincere. If Commander Prayer is anywhere in
- 10:03the district, someone in the congregation will come to me and tell me.
- 10:07And when they do, you will contact me at the station, please or
- 10:09at once, mister Motor immediately. You have been very very kind, and
- 10:13this has been very very pertant. Command of Freyer's disappearance is more urgent than
- 10:18it appears on the surface. I will try to help in my humble way.
- 10:20Then I shall leave you now and thank you again. It has been
- 10:24my pleasure, believe me. Goodbye, Reverence is sale, good bye?
- 10:35Shot off down seller quickly and bring the straw and the needles. We have
- 10:41wasted enough time on command of Fael. Now really, Commander Prayer, this
- 10:52has gone too far. It pains me deeply. You could be sold by
- 10:56the pound as broad beef. Now will you do as I asked? Chottoo
- 11:05can have my enormous sucidity. I could not advance blay my country hands upon
- 11:11the straw underneath. Commander Prayer is unconscious a little vinegar will revive him quickly.
- 11:16Choto, Yes, well he's a Oh now, Commander Payer, can
- 11:24you understand? Can you hear me? I won't do it except for the
- 11:31method of keeping the missile on course. We have everything I want, the
- 11:35wavelength that excites that crystal and the diagram of the crystal itself. Now there
- 11:39is pencil and paper and the drawing board. I won't do it. I'm
- 11:43all you want to kill me your hand Chotto? Are you ready? Does
- 11:48the barbarian and lastal Commander Kyoto is an Anue warrior. If you insist on
- 11:54being stubborn, he inserts that straw under your skin and blows you up,
- 11:58Commander Prayer until you burst like a balloon. You no things? You go
- 12:05ahead? Shoto? Yeah, no, no, don't please all right,
- 12:16I'll give it. God has banished the stubbornness from your soul. Unchanging Toto,
- 12:22Yes, hurry, tootle. Now come on the figures, just four
- 12:35of them, five five, define points one point one? Why? Three?
- 12:43Eight? And excellent? Now the drawing quicklick. It's so hard for
- 12:50me to help him. Yotok, are you comfortable, Commander? Then draw
- 13:01the crystal? Ah, this is the Remember in and hour you can get
- 13:05back at the station. Have I the word, a few lines on a
- 13:11piece of paper, and you are free. I promise, Ah, there's
- 13:22gone backs on a paradise. This is seem must be exactly one wave line
- 13:33for the radiation for me and faith. Thank you, Commander Kyoto as Freda
- 13:46I listened, Catholic. Send a code cable to Comrade kabulosk in Blaod the
- 13:50suck. You must get a plane to a tarow at once. Tell him
- 13:52I have obtained the last link in Project seventy seven, and that I will
- 13:56deliver it to him tomorrow night at seven in the Cafe of the Grinning Buddha
- 14:00on the salary that would and I will prepare for crab meaty. The man
- 14:05the fear is unconscious again, Well, perhaps it is easier that way disposed
- 14:13of him. You can bury him somewhere in the hills. That's the motto.
- 14:28You're wrong, tis Day is a minister of the gospel. I'm as
- 14:31sure as I'm sitting here he's on a level there. Should you reply to
- 14:35my table any moment that the man radiates sincerity and integrity, I am sure
- 14:39the reverence Tod will gives an impression of great divinity. That's Captain Stanley.
- 14:43He is a life. Oh tell me one thing, he said. You
- 14:46forget Captain Stanley, that I speak Japanese. A's bluently as I do age.
- 14:50He told me he had four hundred positions on my way home from the
- 14:54mission. I've called on the tactics. They are simple people, good people,
- 14:58that's certain Stanley. Not once did I see a course or a Bible,
- 15:03not in a single home. These people are not being teached to the
- 15:07energy about today. What does the free I heard an old woman a Cominomichi,
- 15:13the way of the fun. These people are being preached a new Shintoism,
- 15:18Shintoism with a new god to be worshiped, a god of communists.
- 15:22Judy tells them they are being exploited, the communist. All is worth on
- 15:26the minority group, repressed, the poor carried the table just came in,
- 15:33sir from Amoto. Ah, thank you very much. And there's something else
- 15:35said, come on with laws. Ah. This is from the Board of
- 15:41Foreign Missions in Boston. No Protestants is nominission as a residence visionary. I
- 15:48thought follows. I was right. I can't believe tisday was a phone.
- 15:52Excuse me soon there's another message, and Coolly just brought this to the front
- 15:56gate of hut Sea. It's from a Tomoto to Fagons Lawson. That's all.
- 16:03I am so very very pleased. Everything is progressing very very well.
- 16:06By telling me why this is from it. I knew woman, she deal
- 16:10wife. I knew I was right. I knew I recognized her sick.
- 16:14Yes, red, Why oh I am you do not read Japmanese. Forgive
- 16:18me, she writes to the first third to the first served during the fells
- 16:25this evening. I don't get it. An young woman of her breeding would
- 16:29always serve her husband's first, no matter how important or how numerous to get.
- 16:34And didn't she this afternoon when she served gacause she served me ahead of
- 16:40Sidney first to t then with little cakes. That is what she means by
- 16:45to the first thirst and the bell. She wants me to come to her
- 16:48to night while the reference did Dale conducts what he calls his prayer meeting.
- 17:15Let is detail. Let me in tea, I am alone. School.
- 17:22You have come, if you are judge, yes coming, Please I prostrate
- 17:27my start to your beauty, and as it is, get your manners and
- 17:30graciousness, miess, the motives the understanding of my message came to you.
- 17:36It's great clarity. Three times I have presented things from happening followingly. Harry
- 17:42could imitate the heat of my hate, but this I understand. I could
- 17:48not possibly defray my husband to a I barbarian. You asked what you love?
- 17:55Been sent to me by Paul. I'm stopped for the way in opening,
- 18:02fuming, disc turning, lost, furming your God, the day has
- 18:11stopped. It is the sinness, the most most honorable lady. Your eligence
- 18:15is beyond statement. But the matter is so very very urgent. May I
- 18:19humbly beg you to proceed. The soul of command of free has fled his
- 18:22body when the Teesdale exposed into a lamp of the sun, until it was
- 18:27the color of boiling blood. This death, this spring, the diagony was
- 18:33of the crashing of whales. The servant of my my husband killed him in
- 18:41the hills. It's the commander. Give your husband any information about the weapon?
- 18:45This about a thing called seven seven, a bullet death flies beneath the
- 18:51waters. What sort of information please hurry, honorable ladies. Smith is of
- 18:55desperate urgency a series of numbers and a blowing of a crystal. Where is
- 19:00the Tuesday carries at the value of the voting body the tomorrow night, Yes,
- 19:06it's rowing will be given to a man named Tablas rushing from Vladava.
- 19:11Fuck in the bring to them speak of the blossomy Shallima, how shower on
- 19:17you a thousand breads? What's the model? I ask only one thing.
- 19:22It is I am a daughter of the house of Tom, the most glorious
- 19:27name, and I knew his See when I saw what the tisday were meant
- 19:32to do to my people, I married him. I fight him constantly.
- 19:40If he knows I have to crayed him, he will kill me. Then
- 19:44my usefulness to my people will end. I give you my word that you
- 19:49will be protected. Captain Sunny, I want you to send twenty men down
- 20:06to the Grinning Buddha Cafe and arrested there at once. You and I will
- 20:10accompany the right any word of the pain not yet, but glad of us.

- 20:18in the harbor standing by. You have told the men that his there is
- 20:22not a minute g Then let us go at once for the cafe of the
- 20:25bringing buddhast stress shut. I told you not to come here. Earth happened
- 20:48Sunday with twenty American sellers just the station five minutes ago. What do you
- 20:52mean they're going to arrest you? Arrest me? They wouldn't there evening,
- 20:57Master, the wife entertain the Japanese mist of what you're saying, I swear
- 21:04to fool. My brother watched her house while I was in the hills disposing
- 21:08that commander fear and I came back. He told me Mother thought to her
- 21:14during a prayer meeting. My brother saw him, come and go. You
- 21:18will meet the power told in the best Master, you must leave that one
- 21:22there will be here any moment climbed. Not yet. The boat is waiting
- 21:27to be kissyplane to take the paper. Go out in the boat and give
- 21:30it to Kavalak. When you have delivered a stafely into his hands, come
- 21:33to the cave in the hills beside the Glasmon Bridge. The power and I
- 21:37will meet you there. Leaves her Master. She is against us. That
- 21:41is why I shall take her with me hurry. Then when you are not
- 21:47here, they will got one to the mission, gets back paper to Kabalac.
- 21:51I will collect myring wife. You will meet us at the cave.
- 21:55They could look for a hundred years and not find us in those hills.
- 22:14I cannot understand it. Then she do your obviously left in the honey.
- 22:18But somewhere in this mission that woman would leave me a clue. It's a
- 22:22lot and fach the house thoroughly. There was nothing somewhere in this chapel we
- 22:29will find Stummach. I know, Stanley. Let me quickly over. Here's
- 22:33the organ that turned on. I just thought core matches laid on the keys.
- 22:40I knew she would try to leave me a message. What is it?
- 22:41Waite and standing, don't touch the matches, ah acoustics on top of
- 22:48the organ. And for matches, I'm a key and let me think.
- 22:56I don't get it matches I'm a key, B and C, D G
- 23:10E. Bridge. Of course she gets the move of the organ running and
- 23:15spells out the word bridge. Yeah, but what break that is the crucifix
- 23:18work in not a crucifixis for Lawton across across a bridge. What's there on
- 23:26the floor its flowers. A Judgment dottum across the Judgmine bridgetain standis I think
- 23:33you've got suffer. There are caves that there are a lot of them.
- 23:34The bridge crosses the gorge and leads to a pass up the mountain of your
- 23:37mother. You she wouldn't do it fur a coupain Sandys collect your mends.
- 23:41We must throw at once across the Judgment bridge. That's the semi street.
- 24:02What anopheonist you know? To the right it has a life. Yes,
- 24:07you're thenocular feet ah a landon in front of a rock. What a woman?
- 24:15Jasmine blossoms at every turn in the past. And now a ladder.
- 24:18You're up there in one of the caves. The lantern is sticking from Siddale.
- 24:22Got a rock? Give me your result. The captains the motor please
- 24:27do it that the men are split out too much. Get them together and
- 24:32as quietly as it is possible for prenty American sailor to move. Have then
- 24:36a post that I will go in first. No Kisdale to have machine guns
- 24:41rifles? Those cases are please please this is there is a brave woman,

- 25:00Do not come into that thing until I blow this with Katawa. You
- 25:18have sinned against your husband, sin deeply. But as a man of God,
- 25:23I have decided to forgive you. Come here you. You are more
- 25:30like anither than a woman. You are very beautiful, and I love you
- 25:33very much, even though you are a heathen native im My ancestors were carving
- 25:42tea when you were cutting off each other's scars for summer. In five languages,
- 25:49I read and life. I read your karmas from Germans before you read
- 25:55it in English. Lazy fucking love you when you're excited. A months of
- 26:00charity and cons I say, and I've betrayed you before. Look I can't
- 26:10play cat and mouse all night. Now, let's be. We're alone,
- 26:18Mika, and I'm your disting present. I don't want to be brutal.

- 28:37what I have been to a man who called him first a man of God.
- 28:45He was not a man of God. He was a man of the
- 28:51devil, the great devil. You have just heard the world's greatest international secret
- 29:18agent, Mister I a Moso. James Monk stars as mister Moto. The
- 29:25script was written and directed by Harry W. Junkins, produced by Carol Irwin.
- 29:32Members of the cast were Bill Smith, Connie Lempkey, Bill Litton,
- 29:36Scott Tennyson, and Ian Martin. The music was transcribed This is Fred Collins
- 29:41Sinking And here was a preview of next week's story. Is mister I a
- 29:45Moso? Thank you? Next week a story of danger and a fight of
- 29:53dainty unknowns, a search for the unsuspected man engaged in sabatos enough maybe a
- 30:04start of night watch over your feet and the post new Your Dreams is Dying.
- 30:12Didn't moved, he didn't changement, good night. It's just over Jubilee
- 30:34on NBC M welcome back. Well, I can't melodramatic and uh maybe a
- 30:53little bit confusing though when you get right down to it. But every program
- 31:03is entitled to an off day, so hopefully we'll have something better next week.
- 31:08Well, we do turn to some listener comments and feedback. Michael has
- 31:14a question. I'm guessing the tape Dragnet shows. They taped Dragnet shows as
- 31:18opposed to live audience. This is accurate. How long did it take them
- 31:22to tape the show? What studio did they usually use? Well, thanks
- 31:29for the question, Michael. Some of those I don't have firm answers on,
- 31:34but we do have some information. First of all, Dragnet was actually,
- 31:41if not recorded before live audience, it was recorded live and uptil nineteen
- 31:52fifty one, when the TV version launched, and so that would have been
- 31:59recorded at NBC studios at that point. In terms of where they recorded the
- 32:07transcripted ones, I would probably guess at the lot where the Dragnet TV programs
- 32:15were filmed out at the boint of Istelot that Web specifically had built and designed
- 32:24for the programs. And at that time Web was putting out an incredible number
- 32:30of programs. On average, he was doing thirty nine television episodes plus most
- 32:44seasons. There was one season they took us summer break, but most seasons.
- 32:47He was doing fifty two radio episodes, and there were movie projects.
- 32:55Really would not want to go down to NBC studios. I think common sense
- 33:00would suggest that they went ahead and they recorded the radio programs where they recorded
- 33:06the television shows. In terms of how long the radio programs took, what
- 33:12we been able to find from research was that Web did not have a did
- 33:16not have time for rehearsal. The programs were recorded as time went, were
- 33:25recorded really in more of a reading style, with very few rehearsals. So
- 33:34these were not these were not jobs that took a long time. Even the
- 33:38television episodes only took a day and a half with no rehearsals. For radio,
- 33:45you know, and allowing for some mistakes. I think if I were
- 33:47to guess, I'd say probably an hour or two based on the information I've
- 33:52been able to garner. So I hope that helps Michael. And of course
- 33:58that doesn't include all the time that work was done on the program, just
- 34:05because you know, writing, et cetera, all that does take time.
- 34:13But for radio it was never you know, as complicated as television without that
- 34:20visual format, and even without Web's insistence on a more minimalistic approach radio actors
- 34:31frequently, you know, would do ten or eleven shows a week, so
- 34:36it would not be a long process. So I hope that helps, and
- 34:39I hope that the guess is based on the information I have found is not
- 34:46far off the mark. So if anyone has additional thoughts, I'd love to
- 34:50hear about it. All right, well, we will be back on Wednesday,
