- 0:04Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted is a production of the NHL and iHeart Podcasts.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Unscripted Episode fourteen Coming at You has always a collaboration
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the NHL and iHeart podcast.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Let Me tell you something. My guy, Jason M. Murris
- 0:25Speaker 2: is fire up today.
- 0:26Speaker 1: And maybe feeling a little saucy. We'll get into that
- 0:28Speaker 1: in just a second. Betrayed deadline winners and losers as
- 0:32Speaker 1: we move forward, this wild storm at Mitch Martyr, what
- 0:35Speaker 1: happened with Ramson and Dallas Rod, Brenda Moor's dropping bombs,
- 0:38Speaker 1: All of that is coming up, plus Aaron Ecklad's suspension
- 0:40Speaker 1: now that can impact things and Sharky getting taken out.
- 0:43Speaker 1: That's right, Jason Murris is a former Shark and talk
- 0:45Speaker 1: to us about this mascot situation and will still file
- 0:47Speaker 1: in sixty as we alrip Gene Hackman, but let's kick
- 0:50Speaker 1: things off. I was just in Scottsdale. I said, gonna
- 0:52Speaker 1: go see my buddy j D. But unfortunately were not there.
- 0:55Speaker 1: By the way, fifty two degrees the first day, the
- 0:57Speaker 1: next day, rain in the desert. I'm there for spring training.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I'm expecting seventy and sunny. Thankfully, things turn around a
- 1:02Speaker 1: little bit, but you were already much more desirable place
- 1:05Speaker 1: than I, which is something to say.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I was enjoying Cubs camp.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Our guy Ian Happ, guest of Unscripted, I got to
- 1:11Speaker 1: check out the A's the Oils, but your gulf right now.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Alex Kulagowski, speaking of all unscripted, how is it going?
- 1:16Speaker 2: How much money have you guys won so far?
- 1:18Speaker 3: Well before we get into abandoned Dunes. The week we've had,
- 1:22Speaker 3: which has been just spectacular, I want to just talk
- 1:26Speaker 3: a little bit more about the fact that you said
- 1:27Speaker 3: you were in the same city as me. Yeah, and
- 1:30Speaker 3: you gave me the most courtesy text. He landed probably
- 1:36Speaker 3: two days earlier, texted me at six pm to say, Hey,
- 1:39Speaker 3: by the way, you want to go to dinner, I'm
- 1:41Speaker 3: going to dinner at six twenty five.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Hey, just feel free.
- 1:44Speaker 3: We're going to Oshan forty four, the most the most
- 1:47Speaker 3: uninvitation invitation I've ever heard of my life.
- 1:51Speaker 4: And I just went.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I said, Hey, I said, I don't think I can
- 1:53Speaker 3: make it. Say oh, okay, yeah, but then maybe i'll
- 1:55Speaker 3: see it next year. So it's like we've we've done
- 1:58Speaker 3: thirteen episodes. We've done thirteen episodes, we've seen each other
- 2:02Speaker 3: twice in a year and a half.
- 2:04Speaker 4: We got half phenomenal chemistry.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you were thinking maybe we could do breakfast Saturday morning.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I said, no, I'll be a Cubs camp with you.
- 2:10Speaker 4: I'm the guy.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yeah, And you said, I'm like my man Ian Happ,
- 2:13Speaker 3: I'm a coffee guy. Give me a bean, give me
- 2:15Speaker 3: a roasted bean, just nice pour over coffee. Just like
- 2:19Speaker 3: ever since we did the interview with Ian Hap, I
- 2:21Speaker 3: have maybe one every two days.
- 2:23Speaker 2: All right, talk to me about the golf. What's going
- 2:24Speaker 2: on here sand dunes?
- 2:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we we I did this last year.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I got invited kind of last minute from a friend
- 2:32Speaker 3: of mine and he said, hey, there's this group we
- 2:34Speaker 3: have that goes like forty guys. They come every year.
- 2:38Speaker 3: It's like a flat fee. You have dinners every night.
- 2:41Speaker 3: It's five days, and you play like a kind of
- 2:44Speaker 3: tournament style game. Every single day. You play a different game,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and you play with your partner that you come with,
- 2:50Speaker 3: and then there's money doled out every night. And last
- 2:53Speaker 3: year I came with a buddy of mine. We did
- 2:55Speaker 3: We did pretty good. We won a couple of days.
- 2:58Speaker 3: And then I came with Alex Golgowski, you just recently retired,
- 3:01Speaker 3: and I reach out to him.
- 3:02Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, butout it.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I'm like, good retire and gift come on out, let's
- 3:05Speaker 3: go play, you know, four or five days. And he's like,
- 3:08Speaker 3: how'd you get this deal? And I was like I
- 3:10Speaker 3: just kind of like weaseled my way into this tournament,
- 3:14Speaker 3: just a great group of guys at a Fresno, California,
- 3:17Speaker 3: and he's like, yeah, I'm coming. So we came out
- 3:19Speaker 3: and we've been electric. We've just Ham and Egg did
- 3:22Speaker 3: just like when we played together, it was just just
- 3:26Speaker 3: Ham and Egg and you know, day one we didn't
- 3:29Speaker 3: do great, but then the last two days we finished
- 3:32Speaker 3: second place both days and you get paid out like
- 3:34Speaker 3: first to third. So yesterday there was like kind of there.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Two days ago, there's some hand clap and guys were
- 3:41Speaker 3: like cheering for us, like oh yeah, the x NHL
- 3:43Speaker 3: guys like yeah, good win, good win, you win a
- 3:44Speaker 3: couple hundred. Yesterday there's maybe one or two guys claping
- 3:48Speaker 3: because we won, and they're like, what the hell's going
- 3:50Speaker 3: on here? Like you guys, first time coming here and
- 3:52Speaker 3: you're just stealing all the cash from everybody that's been
- 3:55Speaker 3: here for like five to ten years, so today was
- 3:59Speaker 3: was good as well. We're probably gonna win some cash
- 4:01Speaker 3: today and we've just been Yeah, it's been It's just
- 4:03Speaker 3: a great it's such It's Disneyland for golf, and it's
- 4:06Speaker 3: the food's fantastic, the service, everything, the courses are great
- 4:11Speaker 3: and we know we've hit great weather.
- 4:12Speaker 4: So it's been really good.
- 4:14Speaker 2: All thing can be better is if Michael Rosenbaum shows up.
- 4:16Speaker 1: By the way, he's our special guest today played Lex
- 4:19Speaker 1: Luthor on Smallville Huge Rangers Fan. How we got solid
- 4:22Speaker 1: twenty five thirty bits coming up.
- 4:24Speaker 2: With Rosenbomb you got yeah, So the.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Always unpopular Arizona to Ottawa direct flight does not exist.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So Arizona to Jersey from there to Ottawa our nation's
- 4:31Speaker 1: cap and I got to watch the Ottawa Centers and
- 4:34Speaker 1: Detroit Red Wings.
- 4:34Speaker 4: How was it?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Well, this will get into our trade winners and losers.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So Ottawa it's like dude, Lena Silimark looking like Vesna
- 4:41Speaker 1: four forty eight saves. He was unbelievable. And Brady Kuld
- 4:44Speaker 1: chuck every time he's on the ice.
- 4:45Speaker 5: JD.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, man, maybe just living in America.
- 4:48Speaker 1: It feels like no player benefited more from Four Nations
- 4:50Speaker 1: than Brady Kuchuck. But now he's becoming like a household
- 4:52Speaker 1: name and the Four Nations three goals.
- 4:54Speaker 2: He fights, He's tough. I'm watching him out there.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He scored the overtime winner against the Ranger, scored two
- 4:57Speaker 1: goals in that game, sat down on their anti patrolla
- 5:00Speaker 1: every time he's on the ice.
- 5:01Speaker 2: He's so exciting to watch. And the Red Wings conversely,
- 5:04Speaker 2: in a game.
- 5:04Speaker 1: That I wouldn't say it was a must win, but
- 5:06Speaker 1: as Shane nough Hey said to me, it's like it's
- 5:07Speaker 1: an urgent win, like you need this one. I'm like, yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 1: five game winless streak and they lose that game, now
- 5:12Speaker 1: six straight for Todd McCleland.
- 5:14Speaker 2: They outplayed them, They deserve to win it. Ottawa wins.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So two thoughts.
- 5:17Speaker 1: One, how great would it be a Brady could Chuck
- 5:19Speaker 1: and the Senators or in the playoffs, could be Brady
- 5:21Speaker 1: versus Matthew. If you look at the Panthers and Sins
- 5:24Speaker 1: and what's going on with the Red Wings, the iSER
- 5:26Speaker 1: plan falling apart, nothing at the deadline, the team's in
- 5:29Speaker 1: free fall.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Well, let's start with the positive first before we get
- 5:34Speaker 3: to the wiser plan. Yeah, Ottawa Senators. I mean it's
- 5:39Speaker 3: a tail of two tapes. Like you look at the
- 5:41Speaker 3: Ottawa Centers, they didn't like what they had, even though
- 5:43Speaker 3: they were kind of playing some good hockey, even though
- 5:46Speaker 3: they had some injuries and things like that, Josh Norah,
- 5:48Speaker 3: Shane Pinto. When they were healthy, this team was good. No,
- 5:52Speaker 3: they decided to go out of the deadline. They go
- 5:54Speaker 3: get Dylan Cousins, who's been incredible since he's been there.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Another Buffalo Sabers player that gets traded and turns into
- 6:01Speaker 3: an elite hockey player. So that's more of what the
- 6:03Speaker 3: hell's wrong with the Buffalo Sabers as a franchise. Now
- 6:07Speaker 3: you look at Oudawhile, you look at Brady Kuchuk, this
- 6:09Speaker 3: guy starting from four nations. Even before that, you see
- 6:14Speaker 3: the need and the want for him to be in
- 6:17Speaker 3: the playoffs. He watches his brother, he follows him. He's
- 6:21Speaker 3: such a big fan of his. You see him supporting
- 6:23Speaker 3: him during their Cup run last year. When Matthew Kachuck's injured,
- 6:27Speaker 3: he's helping him out of bed. He is just like
- 6:29Speaker 3: the prototypical hockey guys. Guy wants to all he wants
- 6:33Speaker 3: to do is win. That's it. I got to interview
- 6:35Speaker 3: him on Amazon Coast to Coast and I kind of
- 6:38Speaker 3: was like, is this kid, Like I'm like, is he
- 6:40Speaker 3: for real or is he like a little bit like
- 6:43Speaker 3: is he just doing everything for the cameras And he
- 6:44Speaker 3: was so nervous to do like a small interview with
- 6:47Speaker 3: us for ten minutes, and I was like, Oh, this
- 6:49Speaker 3: guy just loves to be around the game, and like
- 6:52Speaker 3: he doesn't want to do the media stuff.
- 6:53Speaker 4: He's doing it because.
- 6:54Speaker 3: He's he has to, but like he really just wants
- 6:57Speaker 3: to play hockey and be an elite hockey player, and
- 7:00Speaker 3: he wants to compete with his brother. And it is
- 7:03Speaker 3: just so fun to watch him, you know, all the
- 7:06Speaker 3: all the shit that's going on through Four Nations, the
- 7:09Speaker 3: injury stuff, him going to Odawa. The fan base is
- 7:13Speaker 3: kind of like hit or miss, and he's just kind
- 7:15Speaker 3: of willing this team in the playoffs and he needs
- 7:17Speaker 3: to be in the playoffs. Like him in the playoffs
- 7:19Speaker 3: will be unbelievable. I don't know how many games he's
- 7:21Speaker 3: gonna last because I feel like if you watch the
- 7:24Speaker 3: Four Nations, like he gets so excited and he'll probably
- 7:26Speaker 3: have ten hits a game.
- 7:28Speaker 4: He's just so good at at.
- 7:30Speaker 1: But think of that spectacle Jenny kud Chuck versus Kachuk.
- 7:33Speaker 4: It'd be unbelieving, incredible. But it's it's it's what I'm
- 7:37Speaker 4: interested to see.
- 7:37Speaker 3: If I and I guarantee you, if they were playing
- 7:39Speaker 3: in a playoff round against each other and they wouldn't
- 7:41Speaker 3: into the corner, it would be high stakes. There'd be
- 7:44Speaker 3: no brothers, would be no love, no nothing. Yeah, but
- 7:46Speaker 3: this Ottawa team, like you look at this team, this franchise.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Almark is a great pickup. He's healthy now.
- 7:52Speaker 3: They you know, Josh Norris has been good for them
- 7:55Speaker 3: this season, really good. He's has some injury issues. They go,
- 7:59Speaker 3: you know what we need to upgrade. We go get
- 8:00Speaker 3: Dylan Cousins. And it's just been the spark that they
- 8:03Speaker 3: needed him.
- 8:04Speaker 4: They has been great.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Coming out of the break and great coming out of
- 8:06Speaker 3: the trade deadline versus the Detroit Red Wings, which is
- 8:10Speaker 3: it's not the Steve Eiserman plane, it's a Steve Wiserman plan.
- 8:13Speaker 3: It's why what is he doing? We're starting to see
- 8:16Speaker 3: a little bit. Listen, he's a legend. He is one
- 8:19Speaker 3: of the best players in NHL history, such a great player,
- 8:22Speaker 3: great leader, but we'll.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Look at.
- 8:26Speaker 3: That doesn't translate sometimes into GMing and we look at
- 8:30Speaker 3: Julian Breeseball, who's just incredible and what he does year
- 8:34Speaker 3: in and year out, and we all thought that it
- 8:36Speaker 3: was Steve Eiserman and now we're seeing that, oh, maybe
- 8:38Speaker 3: it was Julian breezes want Steve Eisman. Actually it's kind
- 8:42Speaker 3: of a little bit lost out there because what's he
- 8:44Speaker 3: doing at the deadline? This team lotted. This team needed
- 8:47Speaker 3: a lot more than doing nothing and standing pat They
- 8:50Speaker 3: needed a couple of pieces added defensively, in net, goaltending wise,
- 8:55Speaker 3: they needed something. You know, I don't love what they
- 8:57Speaker 3: bring it. They brought it. No, they brought him Rask,
- 9:01Speaker 3: they brought him Razak and listen, times can be good,
- 9:05Speaker 3: but that's not the goal you go out and get
- 9:08Speaker 3: at the deadline, that's not It was probably Correl Viamlca
- 9:10Speaker 3: they should have pushed for. But Vimalca gets signed by Utah.
- 9:14Speaker 3: But it's just they didn't do enough. You didn't fill
- 9:17Speaker 3: any of the holes you needed. You kind of put
- 9:20Speaker 3: a little bit of tape, you put a little bit
- 9:22Speaker 3: of flex seal in the goaltending position, and that just
- 9:24Speaker 3: doesn't do enough. So I just I'm a little shocked
- 9:28Speaker 3: by Detroit and this team is showing exactly the fruits
- 9:32Speaker 3: of what Steve Eiserman did by doing nothing.
- 9:35Speaker 4: The six straight losses.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's certainly disappointed right now. I'm frustrating. Again.
- 9:39Speaker 1: We don't need to break down the specific winners and
- 9:41Speaker 1: losers from the trade Deadlin which is a week. But
- 9:43Speaker 1: the Panthers get marsh and Seth Jones v tic Mancheck
- 9:46Speaker 1: Dallas gets ranted in Colorado, Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle, Toronto
- 9:50Speaker 1: gets Scott Lotton, Brandon Carlon has mentioned Ottawa gets Cousins
- 9:53Speaker 1: and your boy Fabian Zeterlin from the Shout Goalscore games Exactly,
- 9:57Speaker 1: he's out there. He's playing on the second live when
- 9:59Speaker 1: I was watching that game of Monday.
- 10:00Speaker 2: So in cool star. But it makes you think.
- 10:03Speaker 1: About it, as you said, the whole concept of GMing.
- 10:05Speaker 1: You know, there's certain guys that can do it right,
- 10:07Speaker 1: certain guys do it well. Everyone is rightfully praising Jim
- 10:10Speaker 1: Nail for the fact he was able to acquire obviously
- 10:13Speaker 1: the huge talent rans and gets some agree one hundred
- 10:15Speaker 1: million dollars deal. But in terms of what Breeze Boughs said,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you know, trying and failing will yield less regret than
- 10:20Speaker 1: failing to try. Right, I don'ther have a lineup full
- 10:22Speaker 1: of good players that a bank of a ton of
- 10:24Speaker 1: draft picks as well. I know you criticize Detroit, but
- 10:27Speaker 1: can't you criticize Utah as well? They're in the mix
- 10:29Speaker 1: for a playoff spot right now. Calgary is one of
- 10:31Speaker 1: the worst offenses in hockey. Thanks to Wolf who's a
- 10:33Speaker 1: Caleder candidate.
- 10:34Speaker 2: They're in the mix.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Vancouver has been a huge disappointment that saying those Blues
- 10:38Speaker 1: are still in the plaoff mix and they've got a
- 10:40Speaker 1: favorable schedule down the stretch.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I know that you're burying Detroit and I give you that.
- 10:43Speaker 4: What about Utah?
- 10:44Speaker 2: They didn't do anything either.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Can you say one more time that quote, just for
- 10:48Speaker 3: every shot in the back about failing and yield, say
- 10:51Speaker 3: one more time.
- 10:51Speaker 2: Trying and failing will yield less regret than failing to try.
- 10:55Speaker 3: God, that's a good quote. And I gotta tell you
- 10:57Speaker 3: what Confucius say me like Julian Breese bough and you see,
- 11:04Speaker 3: and I had a little bit you know, the NHL
- 11:06Speaker 3: Network asked me to kind of do a post about
- 11:08Speaker 3: the trade deadline, and I said, there's levels to jamming,
- 11:10Speaker 3: and it's never been more apparent than this season. The
- 11:14Speaker 3: just the difference in skill and no in fearlessness of
- 11:19Speaker 3: some of these gms in the NHL, because again, you
- 11:22Speaker 3: you're only doing this for a certain amount of time.
- 11:24Speaker 3: There's a finite amount of time you can be a GM.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Why would you go into it casually, cautiously, not making
- 11:33Speaker 3: not taking any big swings and just playing pretend. Because
- 11:35Speaker 3: here's the thing. When you accrue draft picks. Again, draft
- 11:38Speaker 3: picks are great, you have a lot of draft picks,
- 11:40Speaker 3: fantastic stuff. What happens when you draft a player you
- 11:42Speaker 3: have minimum unless it's the top three generational impactful player,
- 11:47Speaker 3: you're waiting three years, two to three years for this
- 11:50Speaker 3: to bear fruit. Now you keep doing that year over year.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I mean it just you're pushing your pushing the line.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You keep you keep delaying your team obviously number one
- 11:59Speaker 3: being a contender and number two even being able to
- 12:03Speaker 3: fight for a player position. So you look at Utah,
- 12:06Speaker 3: you know, and I have my bones to pick with
- 12:09Speaker 3: Bill Armstrong with the way my career and stuff like that.
- 12:11Speaker 3: But that's neither here nor there. The thing with Bill
- 12:14Speaker 3: Armstrong is, yeah, he's done great work there. He's done
- 12:17Speaker 3: great work. He's made them a competitive team. Now you
- 12:20Speaker 3: have to take a swing at this deadline. There's no
- 12:22Speaker 3: spot that's opened more than the first the first wild
- 12:25Speaker 3: card in the West. He has to take a swing.
- 12:28Speaker 3: You have all this draft capital, you have all this
- 12:29Speaker 3: cap space. Take a swing. Because here's the thing. I've
- 12:32Speaker 3: been sitting with Alex Koldgowski. We're sitting and we're chatting,
- 12:35Speaker 3: we're having a good time talking about the league, and
- 12:38Speaker 3: he said something great to me. He was like, listen,
- 12:40Speaker 3: he's like the teams that didn't take a swing this playoffs. Sorry,
- 12:45Speaker 3: not this playoffs, this trade deadline. The CAP's going to
- 12:47Speaker 3: keep going up over the next three years. You've lost
- 12:49Speaker 3: your chance now because the big boys are now getting
- 12:52Speaker 3: another they're getting more cap space, they're getting more room
- 12:55Speaker 3: to bring in more players, and they have a competitive team.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So the teams that have these competitive teams, they're more
- 13:01Speaker 3: attractive in free agency. So now these free agents that
- 13:04Speaker 3: are coming off the books and they're they're looking where
- 13:07Speaker 3: to go, They're gonna go to a competitive team and
- 13:08Speaker 3: try to win, and these teams that aren't taking any
- 13:10Speaker 3: swings that have Oh yeah, we have twenty six million
- 13:12Speaker 3: in cap space. Great, you didn't do anything at the deadline.
- 13:15Speaker 3: You're not showing anybody around the league that you actually
- 13:18Speaker 3: have an earnest earn it sorry a willingness to make
- 13:23Speaker 3: the playoffs and win the Cup. So for me, I
- 13:25Speaker 3: just get a little annoyed because you look at the
- 13:28Speaker 3: Utah Hockey Club, specifically Clayton Keller's grinded so hard the
- 13:32Speaker 3: past five years. He gets better and better, he works,
- 13:35Speaker 3: Nick Schmaltz, Barret Hayton. They need help and they're not
- 13:38Speaker 3: getting any help. Nobody's getting brought in. They're just saying, oh,
- 13:41Speaker 3: we got all these draft picks, gonna be great. What
- 13:43Speaker 3: happens when you go with this next draft? You gotta
- 13:45Speaker 3: wait another three four years. Dylan Gunther and Logan Cooley,
- 13:48Speaker 3: they hit it out of the park with those two.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Those guys are studs. They're coming up. They have a
- 13:52Speaker 3: great decoor, they have great goaltending. You just got to
- 13:55Speaker 3: reward guys, and you got to take a swing because
- 13:57Speaker 3: at the end of the day, you're not gonna be
- 13:59Speaker 3: a GM forever. So why wouldn't you go out swinging?
- 14:01Speaker 3: And that's why I love what Julian Breeze Boss said
- 14:03Speaker 3: about failure. Just if you're gonna fail, just fail swinging
- 14:07Speaker 3: for the fences.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I want to hear about how Bill Armstrong did you dirty?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Bu'll do that another time. That'll be NHL uncensored rather
- 14:13Speaker 1: than unscripted. But let's talk about rant.
- 14:15Speaker 4: It's all love.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Let's talk that, by the way, tal clip that.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Let's talk about Ranson specifically, so he signs the eight year,
- 14:23Speaker 1: ninety six million dollar extension after a poorly turning down
- 14:26Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars in the Hurricanes. On an appearance
- 14:28Speaker 1: Monday on ninety nine point nine, the fan of rally
- 14:31Speaker 1: Hurricanes coach Rod Brindemore in a recent poll by the
- 14:33Speaker 1: Way ranked top three as far as the coach the
- 14:36Speaker 1: players most would like to play for. Paul Maurice was
- 14:38Speaker 1: number one for the record, John Cooper was second.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Anyways, Brindemoor was asked for.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Ranson, now Coop Coop was first.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Cooper is firstarts right, Moa was second. Probs. Anyways, Rod
- 14:47Speaker 2: said about Ranson.
- 14:48Speaker 6: There's not been one guy that has left here really
- 14:51Speaker 6: unlikeing here now was stepping me going.
- 14:53Speaker 2: He did not like it.
- 14:54Speaker 6: He when he showed up, he said, there's four teams
- 14:56Speaker 6: I'll go play for.
- 14:57Speaker 5: You're not one of them.
- 14:58Speaker 6: So there's twenty eight other teams he wasn't going to
- 15:01Speaker 6: and when we The better question is should we have known.
- 15:04Speaker 5: That before we sign them? Attempted to sign them.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I appreciate that you let us know that. We probably
- 15:09Speaker 1: should have known that before we made the deal. Tuesday,
- 15:12Speaker 1: Ranston's agent Andy Scott went on the fan Hockey Show
- 15:14Speaker 1: on Sports Today called briandanmore quote, completely misinformed.
- 15:18Speaker 7: We've We've got a ton of respect for Branda moore
- 15:20Speaker 7: are both as a player and a coach, but in
- 15:21Speaker 7: this situation, he's completely misinformed.
- 15:24Speaker 2: What's happening here?
- 15:27Speaker 3: The whole thing with Ranton in all season long, it's
- 15:30Speaker 3: been so deluded, it's been so weird, the way he
- 15:34Speaker 3: left Colorado, all the issues with Tulsky and Carolina. I
- 15:38Speaker 3: think Tulsky made the biggest mistake out of anybody through
- 15:41Speaker 3: this whole, this whole debacle of a season for Miko Rannon,
- 15:45Speaker 3: and not only Miko Rannon, but the Carolina Hurricanes. I
- 15:47Speaker 3: think they do well in the playoffs. I don't think
- 15:49Speaker 3: they have a chance of winning with what they've done.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Uh for them to make a trade without you heard
- 15:54Speaker 3: Marty Nachs come out and say, I don't know why
- 15:56Speaker 3: they would trade for somebody that they don't aren't a
- 15:58Speaker 3: hundred percent she is going to sign. So I think,
- 16:01Speaker 3: you know, the whole issue with Carolina is just taking
- 16:05Speaker 3: a like that, there's taking a swing and then there's
- 16:08Speaker 3: just being absolutely foolish, and this was just foolish. I
- 16:11Speaker 3: just don't think they needed to make that trade. Marty
- 16:14Speaker 3: Natius is still a great player. They could have found
- 16:16Speaker 3: somebody else in trade, or they could have signed somebody.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I just don't know what's going on, and I think
- 16:23Speaker 3: Rod Brandenburg got frustrated with the whole situation and maybe
- 16:26Speaker 3: just spoke out of turn. But again, this we don't
- 16:30Speaker 3: there's so many unknowns with Miko Ranton and his agent
- 16:34Speaker 3: and this whole season surrounding him, Like, I don't know
- 16:36Speaker 3: what's true with this. I just know that it's been
- 16:39Speaker 3: a mess. And now he's in Dallas and Jim Neill
- 16:41Speaker 3: reaps the benefits and Jim Neil, who's another fantastic GM
- 16:44Speaker 3: and I talk about levels I didn't even mention Billy Zito,
- 16:47Speaker 3: but Jim nil is just so fantastic as a GM
- 16:50Speaker 3: and he just finds the right angles. And Logan Stankbin
- 16:54Speaker 3: is a great player. But Miko Rantonon on that team
- 16:58Speaker 3: is exactly what they need and he's just such an
- 17:01Speaker 3: high impact player. And it's just the difference between gms,
- 17:06Speaker 3: Like I think Telsky just got a little bit ahead
- 17:08Speaker 3: of his skis and Jim Nill just took advantage, and
- 17:12Speaker 3: I just it's weird though. It's just such a weird season.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And Rod Brendanmar, I think, is just so frustrated with
- 17:17Speaker 3: the situation in the past two years, the guys they've
- 17:20Speaker 3: missed out on the guys they've let go. It's just frustrating.
- 17:23Speaker 3: There's guys I know in Carolina that just kind of
- 17:26Speaker 3: it's been tough for them, like they've I got a
- 17:29Speaker 3: few texts of just guys being like, I don't know
- 17:31Speaker 3: what we're doing. And nothing against those guys and nothing
- 17:35Speaker 3: against the GM. You're they're trying to do stuff. But
- 17:38Speaker 3: that's frustrating for a team when you think you have
- 17:40Speaker 3: a team that can win the Cup and then you
- 17:41Speaker 3: lose such a big player like that, and the return
- 17:43Speaker 3: is good, but it's not great. It's not like, Okay,
- 17:47Speaker 3: we're knocking the side of the park. It's like, oh, okay, yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 3: we got a good player, and we've got a couple
- 17:51Speaker 3: of good players, but like, yeah, we're worse offt than
- 17:53Speaker 3: we were before the trade deadline.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah, the Hurricanes definitely one of the losers of the
- 17:57Speaker 1: trade deadline. However, the whole rant and drama, it's even
- 17:59Speaker 1: crazier because it extends to Leaf's nation. The Hurricanes asked,
- 18:04Speaker 1: but Mitch Marner has explored potential rams and trade. The
- 18:07Speaker 1: Leafs poorly ass Martyr, but waving his full not trade
- 18:10Speaker 1: clause expected leaves. Fans and media have not gone nuts. Marner,
- 18:13Speaker 1: by the way, is a UFA this summer. Do you
- 18:15Speaker 1: think Mitch Martin's gonna come back to the Maple Leafs.
- 18:18Speaker 4: I wouldn't if I was him.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I'm just telling you right now, Mitch Marner, if you
- 18:22Speaker 3: hear this, I'd be running for the hills, because not
- 18:25Speaker 3: only has the not only has the fan base abused.
- 18:29Speaker 3: You been very tough on him, been very tough on
- 18:31Speaker 3: him come playoff time, and it's not it's not been
- 18:34Speaker 3: his fault and I've been hard on him just as
- 18:36Speaker 3: much and said, hey, he's one of the guys that
- 18:37Speaker 3: haven't picked it up in the playoffs, but he has
- 18:40Speaker 3: carried this team for the most part this season. He
- 18:42Speaker 3: has been one of one of the if not the
- 18:45Speaker 3: best player. The fact that and listen, Brad Tree Living,
- 18:48Speaker 3: I tweeted the other night, in a haze of rage,
- 18:51Speaker 3: said I don't think Mitch Barter's resigning. I think Brad
- 18:54Speaker 3: Tree Living. I think the gmming has been very bad
- 18:56Speaker 3: in the NHL. People, I say, people thought you called
- 18:59Speaker 3: out Tree, Well, people thought I said Brad Tree Living
- 19:03Speaker 3: was a bad GM. I think he's done some great
- 19:05Speaker 3: moves and Kyle Duba's kind of hurt this team. But
- 19:08Speaker 3: I think that move specifically. Listen, I asked a couple
- 19:13Speaker 3: guys straight up. I said, okay, I said, if you're
- 19:15Speaker 3: gonna trade Miko Ranton in for Mitch Martin, would you
- 19:18Speaker 3: make that trade? I wouldn't make that trade. Why wouldn't
- 19:21Speaker 3: I make that trade? Because Number one, I think Mitch
- 19:23Speaker 3: Marner impacts the game a little bit more than Miko
- 19:26Speaker 3: Ranton on the defensive side of the puck. Mico Ranton
- 19:29Speaker 3: is very good offensively, he's big body, he's a great winger.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Mitch Marner plays all he plays five on five, he
- 19:36Speaker 3: plays penalty kill, and he plays power play, and he's
- 19:40Speaker 3: impactful in all three zones. You cannot give a player
- 19:42Speaker 3: like that up. Even though he's not the biggest, strongest guy,
- 19:47Speaker 3: he is a great hockey player. And the fact that
- 19:50Speaker 3: they entertained Miko Randon for Mitch Marner, whether it was
- 19:52Speaker 3: straight up or for some picks, I think is not
- 19:55Speaker 3: a good move by Brad Tree living in this in
- 19:57Speaker 3: the Toronto Maypleas organization. Yeah, it's fine to kick the
- 20:00Speaker 3: tires and see what Ranton will yield, But why would
- 20:03Speaker 3: you go to Mitch Martin and ask him to what
- 20:05Speaker 3: wave his no move? And that If that's true and
- 20:07Speaker 3: they went to Mitch Martin and said, hey, would you
- 20:09Speaker 3: wave your no move clause, I'd be out of there
- 20:12Speaker 3: July first. See you later, Mitch Marner. There will be
- 20:15Speaker 3: there will be thirty teams that would sign him and
- 20:18Speaker 3: pay him ten to twelve million dollars a year, and
- 20:21Speaker 3: I think he deserves that, maybe even more than that
- 20:23Speaker 3: with the cap going up. So for me, I'm like,
- 20:26Speaker 3: Mitch Marner, see you later, pack your bags, get out
- 20:29Speaker 3: of there, go enjoy yourself somewhere else, because you've been
- 20:31Speaker 3: stepped on way too much in this organization and you
- 20:36Speaker 3: don't deserve it. Unfortunate like maybe a little bit, but
- 20:39Speaker 3: right now it's gone too far. I think for him
- 20:41Speaker 3: as a player this season he's having they should be
- 20:44Speaker 3: re signing him and paying him what he wants, especially
- 20:46Speaker 3: with the cap going up. They're not see you later,
- 20:49Speaker 3: and they're asking him to waive his no move clause
- 20:50Speaker 3: by get in the car, turn it on, shut up
- 20:54Speaker 3: and draft.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah, he has yet to elevate company.
- 20:57Speaker 4: He had to elevate, shut up and draft.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I know you love Rihanna, but Tron's thinking like this thing.
- 21:01Speaker 1: He's yet to elevate come playoff time. But he's in
- 21:03Speaker 1: everything other than that about the other guys. If it's
- 21:04Speaker 1: to LBA come playoff time, So there's other blame.
- 21:07Speaker 4: It's a team effort.
- 21:08Speaker 1: One more thought before we get to our guy. Rosenbaum
- 21:11Speaker 1: is the biggest winner of the day. Carolina is Jack Rosslovic.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Ranson gave me a limited edition Rolex watch he need
- 21:17Speaker 1: to have imported from Finland in exchange. Rossovic switch numbers
- 21:20Speaker 1: from ninety six to ninety eight, so Ranson could keep
- 21:22Speaker 1: the number he had one throw a his an HL career.
- 21:25Speaker 2: But now Ranson's in Dallas, Rossvin can switch back ninety
- 21:28Speaker 2: six and he gets to keep the watch. Jason Lewis,
- 21:31Speaker 2: do you have a story about players giving a rolex
- 21:34Speaker 2: or something like that to wear their favorite jersey number.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I mean I just switched numbers, like like at Clydesdale
- 21:41Speaker 3: in my career, I went from sixty to five.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Nobody even paid me. I just switched.
- 21:46Speaker 3: But I that's just even more murky for the Rant
- 21:50Speaker 3: and stuff. Why are you paying people to change numbers
- 21:52Speaker 3: if you're like kind of leaving and you're telling Rod
- 21:54Speaker 3: Brenda Moore that you don't want to stay there, and
- 21:56Speaker 3: like that's where it's just like the whole thing's murky.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Like I just don't get it. I want to sit
- 22:00Speaker 3: down with Migo Rant and have a couple of beers
- 22:02Speaker 3: and ask him, Hey, yeah, the swow me hoova, hoova?
- 22:07Speaker 3: What the hell is going on right now? Give me
- 22:10Speaker 3: the low down? But I don't have his number.
- 22:14Speaker 1: Well, at the very least, Jacket's a nice little role
- 22:16Speaker 1: ex so that's good news for good for him. We're
- 22:17Speaker 1: gonna talk more about the Florida Panthers in a little bit.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I want to get your take on marsh Angle and
- 22:21Speaker 1: there Steph Jones, and of course this news involving Aaron Eckblab,
- 22:24Speaker 1: how that will impact them moving forward. Plus we still
- 22:26Speaker 1: to talk about Gene Hackman and when mascots attack or
- 22:30Speaker 1: get attacked as what happened to Sharpy. We'll get into
- 22:32Speaker 1: that a little bit later, but first, Michael Rosenbaum, who
- 22:34Speaker 1: is a terrific actor, a huge Rangers fan, is a
- 22:37Speaker 1: very popular podcast. He's got stories but actors and JK.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Simmons and athletes and all the rest of it. He's excellent.
- 22:42Speaker 1: He's coming up right after this. You're an NHL in
- 22:45Speaker 1: scripted Our next guest to celebrate, actor, musician, and podcaster
- 22:59Speaker 1: who's on screen credits include Smallville, Bringing down the House,
- 23:03Speaker 1: Sorority Boys, Pool Hall, Junkies, and all kinds of animated work.
- 23:06Speaker 2: If you've seen him in one thing, you've seen him
- 23:08Speaker 2: in lots of things. Ladies and Gentlemen, Ranger super Fin
- 23:11Speaker 2: Michael Rosenbaum.
- 23:12Speaker 5: That's me. I'm trying to get the lighting right, but
- 23:14Speaker 5: I can't quite figure it out. Thanks for the Jason
- 23:16Speaker 5: for the.
- 23:17Speaker 4: You know about that.
- 23:18Speaker 5: You see you see what I have right here?
- 23:21Speaker 4: You undergand what do you got there? Is that Hann Rahan.
- 23:24Speaker 5: It's from slapshotw you have to swear on your.
- 23:29Speaker 7: It's I didn't ask him for this, he said to Michael,
- 23:34Speaker 7: Suzanne sucks pussy, the iconic line.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Your wife's the dyke.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I know, I know she loves me and I loves me.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Well, hey, let's start. Let's start on that note. We're
- 23:52Speaker 3: going hockey. Start with the Rangers. What do you got
- 23:54Speaker 3: here with this wild season so far? Give me your
- 23:56Speaker 3: hot takes.
- 23:58Speaker 5: I was, I was.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Really worried, like everyone was who lived in New York,
- 24:02Speaker 7: and I thought I couldn't believe that. They just kept
- 24:06Speaker 7: losing and you're like, oh, they're gonna turn it around
- 24:08Speaker 7: and losing and losing and now you know what they needed.
- 24:13Speaker 5: They needed a rempy. They needed because with them, they're
- 24:22Speaker 5: they're winning percentages.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Crazy little jam.
- 24:25Speaker 5: He just adds, it feels like the other players, am
- 24:27Speaker 5: I wrong here?
- 24:28Speaker 7: The other players, the opposing team, they seem kind of
- 24:31Speaker 7: timid around him.
- 24:32Speaker 5: They want to get rid of the puck, They want
- 24:34Speaker 5: to get out of there. They don't want to be
- 24:35Speaker 5: around him.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Well, yeah, well, it's like, you know, when you have
- 24:40Speaker 3: those guys, it's just known that the especially Rempy can play.
- 24:44Speaker 3: He's improved too. He can play, he can make passes
- 24:46Speaker 3: and stuff. So but guys are just more scared to
- 24:49Speaker 3: kind of, you know, f around and find out, so
- 24:51Speaker 3: they kind of And it also I feel like he
- 24:54Speaker 3: gets the Rangers fans, those corporate Rangers fans up on
- 24:56Speaker 3: their feet and screaming for a little blood.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's just they needed something. And I
- 25:02Speaker 5: think that and JT.
- 25:04Speaker 7: Miller were like those having the Grid, having the tough
- 25:07Speaker 7: guy and having J T. Miller come back and already
- 25:11Speaker 7: like you know, score machine.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Just he's like a leader.
- 25:14Speaker 7: I feel like he's the captain you know already. So,
- 25:18Speaker 7: I mean, they're close to a playoff spot. I feel
- 25:21Speaker 7: like a couple teams above them are starting to lose
- 25:23Speaker 7: their you know, sizzle. So I'm hoping, I'm really hoping.
- 25:27Speaker 7: I'm watching them against the Caps. This will be a
- 25:29Speaker 7: real test to play against, you see, what to see
- 25:32Speaker 7: how they stand with these guys.
- 25:33Speaker 5: But I think if they get in their dangers.
- 25:35Speaker 4: Don't you know one hundred percent.
- 25:37Speaker 3: And I love that You're multitasking your foot, you're futzing
- 25:41Speaker 3: with the lighting. You're watching a Rangers game and doing
- 25:43Speaker 3: this podcast.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Well, the Rangers are not it's just pre game.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Yeah, the game starts. You probably no, I don't care.
- 25:52Speaker 5: I don't care. Look, I love hockey. I just got
- 25:55Speaker 5: to play in a charity game.
- 25:56Speaker 7: For a.
- 25:58Speaker 1: LAFT charity hockey event Crypto dot com. How incredible was that, Mike?
- 26:02Speaker 5: That was I mean, do it for a good cause.
- 26:05Speaker 5: Was just incredible.
- 26:06Speaker 7: But then you know, my line is a messy is
- 26:10Speaker 7: centering us, THEO Flurry is on my left wing, and
- 26:14Speaker 7: it was just and it was packed and I felt
- 26:17Speaker 7: when I went out there, I just said, don't fall down, man,
- 26:20Speaker 7: don't fall down and looks like an asshole in front
- 26:22Speaker 7: of all your friends, all these people who go, oh yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 7: you said you played hockey and the first shift man
- 26:31Speaker 7: THEO the mess to me one.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Time we're in and I was like, that's it, I
- 26:36Speaker 5: can go home now. I just it was it was awesome.
- 26:39Speaker 5: It was awesome.
- 26:40Speaker 4: How great?
- 26:41Speaker 3: How like you know you play with those guys and
- 26:43Speaker 3: I always I always try to tell people like, you know,
- 26:45Speaker 3: Messy and Flurry and you think like oh, yeah, they
- 26:48Speaker 3: might take it easy, and you just see them. The
- 26:50Speaker 3: compete level and the level of edge that these guys have.
- 26:54Speaker 3: It's just so incredible to see live in person they
- 26:56Speaker 3: and even play with them.
- 26:57Speaker 5: Yeah, it was. It was unbelievable. You know.
- 27:00Speaker 7: It's funny because you know, mess was like, oh, I
- 27:01Speaker 7: haven't played forever, and he gets on there just like, hey,
- 27:05Speaker 7: make sure you're in the slot, make you know, and
- 27:07Speaker 7: he's like he's he's having fun. But at the same time,
- 27:10Speaker 7: he's like, you know, I don't I don't want to
- 27:11Speaker 7: come out here and look like idiots. Let's let's go
- 27:13Speaker 7: out there and score some goals. And it was a blast.
- 27:17Speaker 7: It was, I mean, you know, to be on airing
- 27:19Speaker 7: on TV and scoring a goal as an actor, you know,
- 27:23Speaker 7: like guy who always wanted to play hockey and mvs
- 27:25Speaker 7: guys like you.
- 27:26Speaker 5: It was. It was just my moment to like just
- 27:29Speaker 5: be like all right, hey.
- 27:30Speaker 7: You know I got I got a little game, I
- 27:32Speaker 7: got a little No.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I did a little more to get in the game
- 27:35Speaker 2: like this. You gotta have more than just a little
- 27:36Speaker 2: bit of game.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Who was your favorite person to me at the event day,
- 27:39Speaker 1: DeVito Vince Vaughn.
- 27:42Speaker 5: You know, I was more star struck by Al Michaels.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Yes, do you believe in miracles?
- 27:48Speaker 7: Al Michaels was our coach and he got in the
- 27:51Speaker 7: in that room.
- 27:52Speaker 5: It was just like he was.
- 27:53Speaker 2: He was like Herb Brooks.
- 27:54Speaker 7: He was given, he was, he was channeling Herb Brooks
- 27:57Speaker 7: and he was like, get the fuck out there, and
- 28:01Speaker 7: you know, just a mean.
- 28:02Speaker 5: He was throwing f bombs and no he was, Yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 5: he was.
- 28:05Speaker 2: I got it on video.
- 28:14Speaker 5: I have it.
- 28:14Speaker 7: I'll have to look, but I have him saying that,
- 28:17Speaker 7: like I was. I was surprised the cameras are on him.
- 28:19Speaker 7: I'm like, well, they're not going to air this, but
- 28:20Speaker 7: this is. And Danny DeVito and Al Michaels sat right
- 28:24Speaker 7: in front of my uh where I was sitting in
- 28:26Speaker 7: the locker room, and I just shot the ship with
- 28:29Speaker 7: them for like forty five minutes.
- 28:31Speaker 5: They were just awesome.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Me and Danny DeVito were stretching. He showed me the
- 28:36Speaker 7: right way to stretch. I'm like, come on, you stretch.
- 28:41Speaker 2: All those Jersey commercials.
- 28:43Speaker 7: But everybody was cool. I mean, Will Ferrell's hilarious. Vince
- 28:46Speaker 7: Vaughn was as nice as can be. He's always I
- 28:49Speaker 7: met him twenty years ago and he comes up to
- 28:51Speaker 7: me like he's like, dude, you how you been? Man?
- 28:53Speaker 5: What's going on?
- 28:53Speaker 7: I remember just like it seems like the bigger the celebrity,
- 28:58Speaker 7: the nicer they are, you know a lot.
- 29:01Speaker 5: I wouldn't say everybody, Adrian, you know.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Hey, hey, listen he Timothy Shalloman got robbed anyway.
- 29:11Speaker 4: On a different note.
- 29:12Speaker 3: On that, but you you also played in those You
- 29:15Speaker 3: played in those Jerry Bruckheimer tournaments years back, and that's
- 29:19Speaker 3: that was a different vibe than that. Obviously that for
- 29:22Speaker 3: the fires in LA that was just such an amazing cause.
- 29:24Speaker 3: But talk a little bit about those, because I got
- 29:27Speaker 3: invited like three times, and I heard it was like
- 29:29Speaker 3: the most fun tournament in Vegas in the summer. But
- 29:33Speaker 3: talk about those Jerry Bruckheimer Hockey tournaments now.
- 29:36Speaker 7: Without getting myself or anybody else in trouble. It was
- 29:41Speaker 7: just an escape. It was like everybody got there and
- 29:46Speaker 7: it wasn't about who you were or what you do.
- 29:49Speaker 7: It was about enjoying each other and having the best
- 29:53Speaker 7: weekend ever. And when I say that, we had some
- 29:56Speaker 7: of the most extraordinary dinners. They'd have a barbecue just
- 29:58Speaker 7: for all the guys and you know, the bus takes
- 30:02Speaker 7: you to the rink, and they had guys or trained
- 30:05Speaker 7: the official trainers from each like different teams.
- 30:08Speaker 5: This guy Ray from the Blues, and there was I mean,
- 30:14Speaker 5: I wish I could say some of the things I
- 30:16Speaker 5: saw and did, but it was it was just an
- 30:19Speaker 5: unbelievable time.
- 30:20Speaker 7: We did it for twenty years and sometimes Jerry would go, Hey,
- 30:23Speaker 7: you want to MC the Saturday night dinner.
- 30:26Speaker 5: I go, can I fly in your jet with you
- 30:28Speaker 5: to Vegas? He's like, yeah, yeah, sure, So.
- 30:32Speaker 7: Flying with Jerry to Vegas and it was it was
- 30:36Speaker 7: just like what am I doing here?
- 30:37Speaker 5: It was a little you know, I wasn't supposed to
- 30:40Speaker 5: mount to shit. Man.
- 30:41Speaker 7: I grew up in southern Indiana. If you said Michael Rosenbaum,
- 30:46Speaker 7: besides Jue, I don't know if they would wreck if
- 30:52Speaker 7: they would remember me, other than obviously some of the
- 30:55Speaker 7: work that I've done. But you know, I didn't think
- 30:59Speaker 7: I was going to mount to much either, and something
- 31:01Speaker 7: happened along the way.
- 31:03Speaker 5: But it's it's pretty You got to pitch yourself. I
- 31:06Speaker 5: try to do that a lot now.
- 31:08Speaker 7: I don't think you know, Jason, probably when you were
- 31:11Speaker 7: in the NHL, you're probably, you know, in the beginning,
- 31:16Speaker 7: you're all exciting everything, but then you kind of forget. Now,
- 31:18Speaker 7: I'm there for business. I'm there to play, there to
- 31:21Speaker 7: hit them, there to score on on my team. But
- 31:23Speaker 7: it's hard to step back, take a step out, you know,
- 31:25Speaker 7: outside of everything, and go, look, a you've accomplished man,
- 31:28Speaker 7: Look what you actually did. Look at the chances of
- 31:31Speaker 7: it actually happening.
- 31:33Speaker 5: And so I try to do that.
- 31:34Speaker 7: I try to be in the moment more and appreciate
- 31:38Speaker 7: those things like the you know, skating with Messia and
- 31:41Speaker 7: doing these fun things. I try to just I think
- 31:44Speaker 7: that's always been my mo o is making everybody laugh,
- 31:49Speaker 7: trying to have a good time, let's not take ourselves
- 31:52Speaker 7: too seriously. And so but I think it's important. And
- 31:56Speaker 7: I didn't do that for a long time. I thought
- 31:58Speaker 7: I got to prove myself. I got to prove myself.
- 32:00Speaker 7: And then there comes a point where you're like, you don't.
- 32:02Speaker 7: You don't want to have to do this for us
- 32:03Speaker 7: of your life. You just prove it to yourself and
- 32:06Speaker 7: then that's enough. So not to get philosophical.
- 32:09Speaker 2: On you boys, No, you even more than proving it
- 32:11Speaker 2: in the game.
- 32:12Speaker 1: And I think, what's impressive, Mike is your versatility and
- 32:15Speaker 1: great John voicing so many things for DC animated projects.
- 32:18Speaker 1: You know, when I was a broadcaster, I feared as
- 32:20Speaker 1: a sidehuse. I tried to do some voice work, and
- 32:22Speaker 1: it is incredibly difficult because you just think, oh, if
- 32:24Speaker 1: having got a deep voice or some baritone, it's all good,
- 32:26Speaker 1: like no, no, the key and you can can speak
- 32:28Speaker 1: to this with voice work is the variety of what
- 32:30Speaker 1: you can do. Can you do twelve different accents, twelve
- 32:33Speaker 1: different voices, and once you're doing the accident, can you
- 32:35Speaker 1: find you in a little bit, can you give us
- 32:36Speaker 1: a little bit more of this new once and taking
- 32:38Speaker 1: direction as an actor would It's one of those jobs
- 32:40Speaker 1: that to me sounds awesome, and I'm sure it is,
- 32:43Speaker 1: but it's a lot harder the people realize it's.
- 32:46Speaker 7: It's harder, I think, to get a gig, a good
- 32:50Speaker 7: voiceover gig, than it.
- 32:52Speaker 5: Is an acting job.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 7: Wow, it's so small industry because they're given like most
- 32:57Speaker 7: of its big celebrities, big names that already have billions
- 32:59Speaker 7: of dollars, which I don't understand.
- 33:01Speaker 5: When there's guys that don't have a lot of money.
- 33:03Speaker 5: That could probably kill it. But you know, I must,
- 33:07Speaker 5: like it was two years. The last two years, I
- 33:10Speaker 5: was like.
- 33:10Speaker 7: God, I haven't booked a freaking voiceover kick, And then I.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Booked this big.
- 33:17Speaker 7: Audio series ten episodes, and I booked this video game
- 33:20Speaker 7: that I can't really talk about, but like this awesome
- 33:22Speaker 7: video and it just hit and it's once you get it,
- 33:26Speaker 7: then you can go have fun. But it's like, you know,
- 33:29Speaker 7: it's it's tough, it's competitive, but.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Boys, it fun.
- 33:33Speaker 7: It's better than putting on makeup at five thirty am
- 33:35Speaker 7: and waiting around for fourteen f an hours for them
- 33:38Speaker 7: to you know, do you know eight hours on one scene.
- 33:42Speaker 7: And it's not that I don't love acting, but you
- 33:45Speaker 7: know it's not as glamorous as everybody thinks.
- 33:47Speaker 2: It's not at your point.
- 33:49Speaker 1: The voice acting, I think I think I went one
- 33:51Speaker 1: for one hundred on audition.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So one I got was quiz Nos.
- 33:54Speaker 1: I finally got a voice commercial that was crazy right,
- 33:58Speaker 1: So I'll tell you how I kept reading it like this,
- 34:00Speaker 1: quiz Nos a cut above, great taste at low price, and.
- 34:03Speaker 2: They go a little less.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Okay, quiz Nose, I'll cut of less quick, put your
- 34:08Speaker 1: hands in your pockets, like very casual like your high
- 34:10Speaker 1: school slack, right okay? And I betu you sound like
- 34:12Speaker 1: this quiz Nos a cut above, great taste at low prices.
- 34:16Speaker 2: They go, that's what we're looking for. That's it. That's
- 34:19Speaker 2: gonna run for six months.
- 34:20Speaker 4: I don't think you knew how to do a little
- 34:22Speaker 4: less that even possible.
- 34:23Speaker 7: And then they give it to like Christopher Walking instead
- 34:27Speaker 7: of you. There's nose nobody knows like quiz Nos.
- 34:35Speaker 5: Eat it for a good sale.
- 34:39Speaker 2: You know it's here, we have the meats.
- 34:46Speaker 5: Give the guy another five million for saying that.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I mean I every time my wife does it. I
- 34:52Speaker 3: literally hear her in the closet just doing these weird voices.
- 34:56Speaker 3: These kids, Boy, what the hell is going on there?
- 34:59Speaker 3: You gotta book one of these voiceover gigs. They're gold
- 35:03Speaker 3: gold Jerry.
- 35:03Speaker 5: It's funny because I do a lot of accents and stuff.
- 35:07Speaker 7: But I did this English accent for this audition like
- 35:12Speaker 7: two weeks ago.
- 35:13Speaker 5: And I go, I don't know I did the English accent.
- 35:15Speaker 7: She goes, yeah, I don't, not even a smiley face
- 35:21Speaker 7: after this ship just yeah, don't.
- 35:24Speaker 5: I guess I was doing it too, Like hey, Mike
- 35:28Speaker 5: and I fuck.
- 35:30Speaker 4: A little too cocky. For it.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Whatever it was, it was garbage.
- 35:34Speaker 7: She she She told me of my agent, Pam, she
- 35:37Speaker 7: was like, yeah, just stick to the English American accent.
- 35:42Speaker 3: I mean, Mike, what's not garbage? Great segue, by the way,
- 35:46Speaker 3: is your podcast inside of you talk a little bit
- 35:49Speaker 3: about that ride you've been on, and like what's one
- 35:52Speaker 3: of your favorite moments and highlights from that show? Because
- 35:55Speaker 3: you do some incredible interviews on there.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Thanks. You know.
- 35:59Speaker 7: It started out as something where my producer was like,
- 36:02Speaker 7: you want to do a podcast? Now, He's like, you
- 36:05Speaker 7: can make some money to go okay, And then I
- 36:11Speaker 7: realized doing it. I was like, I'm not really making
- 36:13Speaker 7: money and no one's listening. But some way, somehow, I
- 36:17Speaker 7: stuck it out and I found my voice, which means
- 36:22Speaker 7: if you are talking about what you want to talk about,
- 36:25Speaker 7: if you want to talk really, if you're talking about
- 36:27Speaker 7: you know, if you're trying to appease a group of people,
- 36:30Speaker 7: and that never works. It's like writing a script because
- 36:33Speaker 7: you think people are going to like it instead of
- 36:35Speaker 7: you really liking it and being passionate about it. But
- 36:37Speaker 7: I started opening up about my you know, dysfunction as
- 36:40Speaker 7: a child and mental health and just I don't know.
- 36:45Speaker 7: I think there's a way about me I have that
- 36:47Speaker 7: that is just disarming. So I start talking self deprecation
- 36:51Speaker 7: and that, you know, in response, gets people to open up.
- 36:55Speaker 5: And you know, you talk.
- 36:56Speaker 7: About I had KENU Reeves on last year, and you
- 36:58Speaker 7: know JK. Simmons and Keith Sutherland and Carrie Anne Moss
- 37:02Speaker 7: and Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Back and all these great people.
- 37:05Speaker 7: But the one that sticks out was this guy Alan
- 37:07Speaker 7: Richson who.
- 37:08Speaker 5: Was Jack Reacher.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:11Speaker 7: Yeah, And he started talking about bipolar and how you
- 37:17Speaker 7: know he suffered from it. And he then talks about
- 37:23Speaker 7: almost like you know, trying to kill himself, trying to
- 37:27Speaker 7: take his own life.
- 37:28Speaker 5: And I thought, I was like, wow, this is getting deep.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Holy shit. You know, I was there, but I was
- 37:34Speaker 5: just listening.
- 37:34Speaker 7: It was just and then he started saying, well I
- 37:37Speaker 7: actually tried, and I go, well, how far did you get?
- 37:40Speaker 5: He goes, well, I had the rope around my neck
- 37:44Speaker 5: and I let it go.
- 37:46Speaker 7: But thankfully they say this, and I'm telling you, believe it.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Your life flashes. Everything in your life.
- 37:54Speaker 7: Flashes by you at the speed of lif just boom
- 37:56Speaker 7: boom boom every moment. And he goes I was strong
- 37:58Speaker 7: enough and I grabbed the rope and I pulled myself off,
- 38:03Speaker 7: and he obviously he made it. But I remember being
- 38:07Speaker 7: in tears and going, how low do you have to get?
- 38:10Speaker 7: Like what, you're successful, you're this, and that all that
- 38:16Speaker 7: doesn't really mean anything. I mean, people get to you know,
- 38:18Speaker 7: people don't understand that everyone's wired differently and different things
- 38:24Speaker 7: affect them, and so it really put things into perspective like, wow,
- 38:29Speaker 7: this guy is good looking and has money and the career,
- 38:32Speaker 7: and you know he gets this low and what causes that?
- 38:37Speaker 7: But that opened my eyes. That was a good one.
- 38:40Speaker 5: Bob Odenkirk.
- 38:41Speaker 7: You know, we talked about Farley because he wrote the
- 38:44Speaker 7: Van down by the River with Farley, and that interview
- 38:48Speaker 7: was great.
- 38:49Speaker 5: Because everybody was like, hey, that.
- 38:51Speaker 7: Was a really good interview, wasn't it. Wasn't it really great?
- 38:54Speaker 7: He's like, yeah, but you could tell you were a
- 38:55Speaker 7: fan of his.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Who was it? Yeah? That's fine.
- 39:00Speaker 5: I mean, no, you're fan of Bob Oden. He was.
- 39:07Speaker 7: He was awesome, and uh, you know, I get a
- 39:10Speaker 7: little star struck. I get a little you know, like
- 39:12Speaker 7: Kean Reeves was in there, and first thing he says,
- 39:14Speaker 7: he looks at my, uh my Dracula poster signed by
- 39:18Speaker 7: Gary Old.
- 39:19Speaker 5: He goes, hey, I was in that, and I go, yeah,
- 39:23Speaker 5: you were.
- 39:25Speaker 7: I swear to god, I didn't realize that it was
- 39:27Speaker 7: going to be right across from you.
- 39:28Speaker 5: It's always been there.
- 39:29Speaker 7: And he goes, yeah, I remember bringing Francis Ford Coppola
- 39:34Speaker 7: back of Mushrooms.
- 39:36Speaker 2: That's a great impression.
- 39:38Speaker 5: I go, great start. He goes thank you.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Michael, oh with him.
- 39:43Speaker 5: And when they say he's the nicest guy in.
- 39:45Speaker 2: The he's the nicest guy in Hollywood.
- 39:47Speaker 7: I played a transvestite in this movie Sweet November, and
- 39:51Speaker 7: every day I would go I'd be dressed up to
- 39:53Speaker 7: the tea and I'd.
- 39:53Speaker 5: Be like, hi, Ken too, good morning. I call him
- 39:56Speaker 5: Ken two?
- 39:58Speaker 2: Hello, how are you today?
- 40:02Speaker 1: We could do this all night. Michael Roseba, The podcast
- 40:05Speaker 1: is inside of you, dude. This is amazing best of
- 40:06Speaker 1: Lucture Rangers. Can't think enough for the great stories and
- 40:09Speaker 1: uh great impressions as well.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Appreciate you anytime you want me on let me know.
- 40:13Speaker 5: Now I know Jason's here.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Come on, tal I've been I've been lining up to
- 40:17Speaker 3: I want to come onto your pod too, and inside
- 40:20Speaker 3: of you I want to give you their your lowest
- 40:22Speaker 3: ratings ever. Come on, Count Reeves, Bob O and Kirk
- 40:26Speaker 3: Jason and mrs Hey.
- 40:28Speaker 5: I'll get inside of you anytime. Wait, jeez, that's the podcasts.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Inside of you. Yeah.
- 40:35Speaker 3: No, I love, I love the mental health aspect of it.
- 40:37Speaker 3: I mean yeah, anytime you need a hockey guy.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Thanks once again to Michael rosebud j D. Listen, you
- 40:49Speaker 2: hiped him up. He was awesome. That guy's unbelieved. What
- 40:51Speaker 2: great storyteller.
- 40:52Speaker 3: His counter Reeves impression so good. Beg on, hang on, hang.
- 40:58Speaker 2: On, good stories from voice acting. Of course he's a
- 41:00Speaker 2: big Rangers fan.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Let's get to more hockey. Big news for the Panthers,
- 41:04Speaker 1: well with the trades in the second. But first off
- 41:05Speaker 1: the news coming down on Monday. Defenseman Aaron k Blatz
- 41:08Speaker 1: has spent in twenty games for violating the terms the
- 41:11Speaker 1: NHL slash NHLP Performance Enhancing Substances Program, and a statement,
- 41:15Speaker 1: k bled said he was shocked by the results of
- 41:17Speaker 1: the failed drug test and made a mistake by taking
- 41:19Speaker 1: something to help you recover from recent injuries without first
- 41:22Speaker 1: checking with proper medical and team personnel.
- 41:24Speaker 2: The suspension will keep eck Bled out of the first
- 41:26Speaker 2: two games the playoffs.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Speaking of Florida, they get Brad Marsham for the Boston Bruins,
- 41:31Speaker 1: noted agitator, thirty six years of age. Him and Boston
- 41:33Speaker 1: could not agree to terms on a potential multi year
- 41:35Speaker 1: deal after this year as he's appending UFA. They also
- 41:38Speaker 1: get Seth Jones, who's the guy who's talented, hasn't seemed
- 41:41Speaker 1: to be in a system that has worked for at
- 41:42Speaker 1: least a few seasons, was much malign in Chicago, made
- 41:45Speaker 1: very clear he wanted to get out of there. They
- 41:46Speaker 1: also get VTAK vantage check there, so they bolster their
- 41:49Speaker 1: goaltending as well.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Florida moves overall. JD.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Do you think that an inkling the ex Blad news
- 41:54Speaker 1: was coming down and thus made the Seth Jones move
- 41:57Speaker 1: or he's not connected.
- 41:59Speaker 3: I've talked to a few people that said the timing
- 42:03Speaker 3: of the Seth Jones trade coincides with the airnec Blad suspension,
- 42:09Speaker 3: so I don't know if they knew something.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Here's the thing.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I think they needed to get a top four defenseman,
- 42:16Speaker 3: and when they found out that Seth Jones was available,
- 42:19Speaker 3: I think they moved mounts to get him. People saying
- 42:21Speaker 3: that Seth Jones is washed or wasn't good are idiots
- 42:25Speaker 3: because he's such a great defenseman. I just think he's
- 42:28Speaker 3: been in a bad system and he was frustrated. He's
- 42:30Speaker 3: with the bat a team that just wasn't competing for
- 42:32Speaker 3: a playoff, and he kind of just let bad habits
- 42:35Speaker 3: crept in. He has been electric factory for this Florida
- 42:39Speaker 3: Panthers team and then it just it's a testament to
- 42:42Speaker 3: Billy Zito. He hears that Brad Marshan is available, he
- 42:45Speaker 3: goes and gets him. And that's also Don Sweeney having
- 42:48Speaker 3: maybe one of the worst years as a GM of
- 42:51Speaker 3: all time with the from the swim and contract to now.
- 42:56Speaker 3: But it's Billy Zito just reaped the rewards of that
- 42:58Speaker 3: and he just made moves and listen, I'll touch quickly
- 43:02Speaker 3: on the air neck blad stuff I take. Make him
- 43:04Speaker 3: at his word. I think he might not have known
- 43:06Speaker 3: he got an injury, and he was probably trying to
- 43:08Speaker 3: speed up the process and took something that wasn't maybe tainted,
- 43:12Speaker 3: or he was just trying to kind of cut some corners. Again,
- 43:15Speaker 3: I don't think it would be anything. Again, hockey's so
- 43:19Speaker 3: hard to performance enhanced because it doesn't matter if you
- 43:22Speaker 3: take something that to help you with healing, it's not
- 43:24Speaker 3: gonna make your game better. You still gotta have good hands,
- 43:26Speaker 3: you gotta be able to it's just too tough. So
- 43:29Speaker 3: it's I take him at his word. I think he
- 43:33Speaker 3: didn't realize it and maybe screwed up. And listen, he's
- 43:36Speaker 3: got to pay the piper. So twenty games plus two,
- 43:39Speaker 3: it's gonna be two games in the playoffs. He's the
- 43:42Speaker 3: punishment fits the crime, and I'm sure he'll come back,
- 43:45Speaker 3: and he seemed like he repented pretty hard, and it
- 43:49Speaker 3: is what it is. But listen, Florida makes moves and
- 43:52Speaker 3: they're completely fine in his absence, and they'll be good
- 43:56Speaker 3: down the stretch and once Kachuck comes back and Ekbyed
- 44:00Speaker 3: comes back. This is a team that's contending for the
- 44:02Speaker 3: Stanley Cup. And this is the reason. This is a
- 44:04Speaker 3: great franchise, great organization that has top the bottom, built
- 44:08Speaker 3: to win, and they just make the right moves at
- 44:10Speaker 3: the right time. And Brad Marshan is a product of
- 44:13Speaker 3: that and he is I mean him, Kit Chuck and
- 44:16Speaker 3: Sam Bennett in the same lineup on the same team,
- 44:19Speaker 3: Judas Priest. That's gonna stink to play against.
- 44:23Speaker 2: And it's amazing to think about. That's how good that
- 44:24Speaker 2: division is.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Toronto, Florida and Tampa Bay, and one of those teams
- 44:28Speaker 1: will be out in the first round. I mean, conversely,
- 44:29Speaker 1: I think of the Central Winnipeg and Dallas and Colorado.
- 44:34Speaker 1: One of those three teams will be out in the
- 44:35Speaker 1: first round. I mean, I just cannot wait till go ahead.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Colorado's playing Dallas in the first round.
- 44:40Speaker 3: I called it. I think it's gonna be that way,
- 44:42Speaker 3: and that is gonna suck when that happens. Ye, honestly,
- 44:45Speaker 3: it sucks.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Because either of those teams are good.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Between the Stanley Capitols, we're gonna get deprived of which
- 44:49Speaker 1: is part of what makes the first round so much fun.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Oiler's kings as well. By they could be happening again Nipers, Yeah, exactly,
- 44:55Speaker 1: they've been beaten up. More hockey the second we'll do
- 44:58Speaker 1: a little centiphile in sixty. What an awful ending for
- 45:00Speaker 1: Gene Hackman's life. Ninety four years of age and suddenly
- 45:04Speaker 1: he dies and his wife as well, and the dog,
- 45:07Speaker 1: and like, what the hell just happened. The report that's
- 45:09Speaker 1: come out now is this Gene Hackman was suffering from Alzheimer's.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Apparently the wife died first, and then he didn't know
- 45:16Speaker 1: what was going on and was looking after him.
- 45:18Speaker 2: He dies.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I'm not sure how one of his dogs died and
- 45:21Speaker 1: two of the dogs live me. One of the dogs
- 45:22Speaker 1: ate the pills. The wife was taking whatever, but crazy story.
- 45:26Speaker 1: The wife in Nilis Jean dies from Alzheimer's ninety four
- 45:28Speaker 1: years of age. An untimely end, but an actor you
- 45:31Speaker 1: can appreciate.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Think about this. He doesn't achieve fame until his mid thirties.
- 45:34Speaker 2: At Bonnie and Clyde.
- 45:35Speaker 1: He wins in a Camy Ward for playing Popeye Doyle
- 45:37Speaker 1: in The French Connection, a great anti hero that billy
- 45:39Speaker 1: freaking film in nineteen seventy one. Goes on to a
- 45:42Speaker 1: successful career and was not jd a conventional leading man.
- 45:45Speaker 2: I read some of these reviews.
- 45:46Speaker 1: People are like had to face like a beer mug
- 45:48Speaker 1: like he was probably that great avant garde movies in
- 45:50Speaker 1: the seventies, but he was not exactly. Warren Beatty loved
- 45:53Speaker 1: him and unforgiven playing the sadistic sheriff Bill Daggan. There
- 45:56Speaker 1: was a stretches early nineties Gene happen was in everything.
- 45:59Speaker 4: He was in the firm.
- 46:01Speaker 1: He's in No way Out. He's in Crimson Died, I
- 46:04Speaker 1: Love in the Royal ten and bombs. I think it's
- 46:06Speaker 1: history some way from West Ander. City's brilliant in that movie.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Play with old Rascal.
- 46:09Speaker 1: But I think you watched Runaway Jury on the plane
- 46:12Speaker 1: him and Dust't hop and old friends, roommates together, and
- 46:16Speaker 1: Bob Bender just wanted to give us a shot out
- 46:17Speaker 1: because people often talk about Pacino and Denero and heat
- 46:20Speaker 1: Well happened to hop and two great actors again old friends,
- 46:23Speaker 1: and they shot the movie.
- 46:24Speaker 2: He didn't realize then have a scene of them together.
- 46:25Speaker 1: So they shot the scene in the bathroom, which is
- 46:27Speaker 1: a great scene between the two of them.
- 46:28Speaker 2: But Gina Hacklin rip.
- 46:32Speaker 3: That scene in the bathroom, and Dustin Hoffin is just
- 46:35Speaker 3: so good and so powerful when he locks the door,
- 46:37Speaker 3: slams it.
- 46:39Speaker 2: The way Hackman delivers any I just don't give a shit.
- 46:42Speaker 3: And he and then as he's leaving he chirps his
- 46:44Speaker 3: suit and then as he's leaving he laughs and goes,
- 46:46Speaker 3: I don't give a shit. Throws I think he throws
- 46:50Speaker 3: the handtow he throws a napkin and the garbage turns
- 46:53Speaker 3: around as he's opening there, he just goes that suit
- 46:57Speaker 3: and I'm just it's so good and you know, like
- 47:00Speaker 3: they probably giggled five times when they did that scene
- 47:03Speaker 3: because he's just shitting on his suit. I mean, that's
- 47:06Speaker 3: such a good movie and just so many twists and turns,
- 47:09Speaker 3: and you know, again, I loved jur number two, and
- 47:13Speaker 3: I like things around the justice system and join the
- 47:15Speaker 3: flaws and the justice system and the way you can
- 47:17Speaker 3: kind of work things around and how these corporations and
- 47:20Speaker 3: companies will take advantage. And he's just the perfect actor
- 47:24Speaker 3: for that role. And it was great and yeah, rap
- 47:26Speaker 3: exactly right happened.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Definitely a great actors and we can certainly appreciate his
- 47:30Speaker 1: movies as they live on.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Back to the hockey, we go a couple more for you.
- 47:34Speaker 1: First off Sunday, not only alex ooveatchin The Great Chase
- 47:37Speaker 1: Career Gold eighty six, but also your boy.
- 47:39Speaker 2: Brent Burns fortieth birthday. Burns is killing a teammates mark
- 47:42Speaker 2: the occasional by wearing fake beers the rake. I got
- 47:45Speaker 2: to hear your favorite Brent Burns story, Well, we had the.
- 47:50Speaker 3: One of him getting bit by the cheetah. Yes, But
- 47:54Speaker 3: one of my favorite ones actually at Brent Burns was, well,
- 47:58Speaker 3: there's two of them. Is one he had that I'll
- 48:00Speaker 3: give you a quick one was he always had that backpack,
- 48:03Speaker 3: that army backpack stuff. And he used to have like
- 48:05Speaker 3: toys on the plane, like one of the Hanson brothers
- 48:07Speaker 3: and you're like, what, he's playing some weird Pokemon game.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Put the foil on.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it was wild.
- 48:12Speaker 3: But my favorite Brent Burns story is of his dad
- 48:16Speaker 3: and his dad on the father's trip. He comes in
- 48:20Speaker 3: and his dad's just an awesome guy, fantastic human being,
- 48:23Speaker 3: so funny and so quirky like Brent, and you're trying
- 48:27Speaker 3: to wonder, like you're like, you know, does the apple
- 48:29Speaker 3: fall far from the tree?
- 48:30Speaker 4: My god?
- 48:31Speaker 3: Is that apple close to the tree? If not part
- 48:33Speaker 3: of it? Because we kind of come in and all
- 48:36Speaker 3: the dads are in the rink and all of a sudden,
- 48:40Speaker 3: where you know, we had practice, we finished practice and
- 48:43Speaker 3: I'm walking in San Jose through the meal room and
- 48:45Speaker 3: the meal room is like right below the gym, and
- 48:48Speaker 3: as I walk through the mirror, I'm here this like
- 48:50Speaker 3: heavy metal music going on, and I'm like what's going
- 48:52Speaker 3: on up there? And I'm like, there's all the dads
- 48:55Speaker 3: are downstairs. So I kind of look upstairs and there's
- 48:57Speaker 3: somebody on the bike. So I walk upstairs and there's
- 48:59Speaker 3: Brent Burns's dad in jeans, no shirt on, with drumsticks,
- 49:04Speaker 3: riding the bike as hard as you can ride the bike,
- 49:08Speaker 3: leaking sweat, and he's going and he's playing the drums. Yeah,
- 49:12Speaker 3: he's playing the air drums, playing the air drums, and
- 49:14Speaker 3: I'm like, and we're all kind of standing there and
- 49:16Speaker 3: I'm looking at the trainer and Mike pretends at the time,
- 49:18Speaker 3: and he's like he's kind of like shrugging his shoulders,
- 49:20Speaker 3: and I'm just like, man, good for him, Like, fuck,
- 49:23Speaker 3: he's jack too, you know. And so we're I'm watching
- 49:26Speaker 3: him play the air drums and heavy metal going on,
- 49:29Speaker 3: and he finishes and kind of walks over to where
- 49:33Speaker 3: the waters are and everything, and we're standing there by
- 49:35Speaker 3: the trainer's room and I'm like, how is that bike ride?
- 49:38Speaker 4: You know, mister Burns?
- 49:39Speaker 3: And he goes, you know what, he goes started off
- 49:42Speaker 3: as like a five piece drum kit and he goes.
- 49:45Speaker 3: By the end, I was hitting like a twelve fifteen
- 49:47Speaker 3: piece drum kit and he goes I was just rocking
- 49:49Speaker 3: out and I was like, this guy, you are Brett
- 49:51Speaker 3: Burns to a tea and you were just an awesome guy.
- 49:54Speaker 4: It's so funny.
- 49:55Speaker 3: And I was like, this is unbelievable walking up and
- 49:57Speaker 3: seeing one of the dads on the team just playing
- 50:00Speaker 3: air drums with actual guitars, not guitar but drums stick
- 50:05Speaker 3: with heavy metal in Jean's pissing sweat. So that's my
- 50:09Speaker 3: best Brent Burns story, which is his dad and shout
- 50:12Speaker 3: out to him, who's just He's just a great guy
- 50:14Speaker 3: and it was so fun meeting him. And I mean,
- 50:16Speaker 3: it's a reason. It's a little bit of a small
- 50:18Speaker 3: people keyhole lens into how crazy and kooky and amazing
- 50:24Speaker 3: Brent Burns is.
- 50:25Speaker 2: I love that, mister Burns.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Excellent And the last one for you The Hockey World
- 50:28Speaker 1: stun Wednesday again more Sharkstock hero spectator of Salem Say Sharks.
- 50:33Speaker 2: He engaged in some sort of angry confrontation with the team's.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Mascot, Sharky, after claiming the mascot pushed him out of
- 50:38Speaker 1: his chair. The encounter got so heated that the usher
- 50:41Speaker 1: had to intervene again. You are a former Shark, you
- 50:44Speaker 1: work for the Sharks, you're calling radio games here. I mean,
- 50:47Speaker 1: have you ever seen anything like this when getting an
- 50:49Speaker 1: alter case?
- 50:50Speaker 2: Was Sharky?
- 50:52Speaker 4: That fan should be real careful because Sharky would have
- 50:55Speaker 4: beat the shit out of him. Tough guy, no cap
- 50:59Speaker 4: Oh what has smoked him?
- 51:01Speaker 3: And anytime you see a guy go like this and
- 51:03Speaker 3: go hey and turn away and walk away, would I
- 51:06Speaker 3: kicked shit out of him? So I don't know how
- 51:08Speaker 3: many beers that guy had, but be wary of a mascot. Man,
- 51:11Speaker 3: you never know what's what's under what's under the hood,
- 51:14Speaker 3: so to speak.
- 51:15Speaker 4: You never know, uh you know it.
- 51:19Speaker 3: I just honestly, I would be careful. Don't test the mascot.
- 51:22Speaker 3: You don't know the pain they have behind those those
- 51:25Speaker 3: beady little fabric guys.
- 51:26Speaker 1: So you get a new loan you're trying to take
- 51:28Speaker 1: on a mascot like that, that's a soul searching moment.
- 51:32Speaker 3: Like even if you punch him straight up, you're not
- 51:35Speaker 3: hurting him. He's got protection and then he's swinging on you.
- 51:38Speaker 4: So I would Yeah, it's a new low.
- 51:41Speaker 3: That guy needs to go and check his four oh
- 51:43Speaker 3: one k or do something, buy some more bitcoin flow.
