Speaker 1: I will say this, We're gonna start with a positive thing.
• 0:02
Speaker 1: I think I great positive start for the piggyback. If
• 0:06
Speaker 1: they want to continue the piggyback. I think it went well.
• 0:09
Speaker 1: You just gotta know the feel of the game. You
• 0:12
Speaker 1: gotta know Castillo doesn't need to go that third in
• 0:15
Speaker 1: and you don't need to put him in the ninth.
• 0:16
Speaker 1: Regardless of what plan you have, you got to read
• 0:20
Speaker 1: the room. You gotta read the situation. You have a
• 0:22
Speaker 1: one nothing lead, you have had one hit. You got
• 0:25
Speaker 1: to protect that lead. Mooney is the safer choice, the
• 0:28
Speaker 1: better choice. Could Mooney have still blown the one nothing lead? Absolutely,
• 0:32
Speaker 1: We've seen him do it before. But I think most
• 0:34
Speaker 1: people feel better having Mooney go in and mess things
• 0:38
Speaker 1: up than seeing Castillo stay in and mess things up.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: I feel like you could probably agree with that. And
• 0:43
Speaker 1: that's what That's the gist of what I saw on
• 0:45
Speaker 1: X right. Yes, okay, So I'm just gonna go through
• 0:48
Speaker 1: the notes that I.
• 0:49
Speaker 2: Took as I was watching the game.
• 0:50
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay, Yeah, So I have Oh, we leave
• 0:54
Speaker 1: the bases loaded in the first Is that gonna come
• 0:56
Speaker 1: back to haunt us?
• 0:59
  Speaker 3: Well?
• 0:59
Speaker 2: I think it came back to haunt us.
• 1:00
Speaker 3: That definitely didn't help. Can you get a run? Yeah,
• 1:03
Speaker 3: run all run, all run.
• 1:05
Speaker 2: One more hit would be great.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: Miller goes five and two thirds innings for rare, finishes sixth.
• 1:10
Speaker 1: Then Castillo is pig piggyback plan already a success?
• 1:15
  Speaker 2: Okay?
• 1:16
Speaker 1: After Castillo goes three up, three down in the seventh,
• 1:19
Speaker 1: is piggyback the best idea ever? These are my notes
• 1:23
Speaker 1: that I'm taking as I'm watching the game. REFS Nighter
• 1:26
Speaker 1: still in in the seventh, over four could have gone
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: to can zone?
• 1:31
Speaker 2: Where's Rayley? How are lefties our kryptonite? Why do we
• 1:35
  Speaker 2: keep doing this?
• 1:37
Speaker 1: Have lefty righting matchups ever been as big of an
• 1:40
Speaker 1: issue as they are these days?
• 1:41
Speaker 2: Or are we just overthinking everything? Just play baseball, damn it?
• 1:45
  Speaker 3: Literally?
• 1:45
  Speaker 2: Yeah?
• 1:46
Speaker 1: And then the ongoing theme throughout the night was what
• 1:49
Speaker 1: is the tarps off movement? And why are we embracing it?
• 1:52
Speaker 1: They just kept showing the shirtless people in the top
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: waving their shirts.
• 1:56
Speaker 2: I was like, what is happening? I don't understand what
• 1:58
  Speaker 2: this is?
• 1:58
Speaker 1: And those were the all the could that I kind
• 2:01
Speaker 1: of took notes of throughout the game until we got.
• 2:04
Speaker 2: To the ninth and then it was chaos, chaos, chaos.
• 2:08
Speaker 2: What notes did you take throughout the game?
• 2:10
Speaker 3: I it was after the game war so but anything,
• 2:14
Speaker 3: it's a division that's keeping this team alive, which is
• 2:17
Speaker 3: kind of crazy to say. But the American League West,
• 2:20
Speaker 3: apparently not having a dominant team right now, is working
• 2:23
Speaker 3: in the mariners favor, thank goodness. And that matters because
• 2:26
Speaker 3: what the Seattle Mariners strengths are with pitching depth and
• 2:31
Speaker 3: those high end arms, are those the kind of things
• 2:34
Speaker 3: that can fuel the second half for the offense even
• 2:39
Speaker 3: if it is league average, which I don't know, are
• 2:41
Speaker 3: they league average or below? Like with this team right now,
• 2:44
Speaker 3: I'm concerned that, yeah, the division stinks, but what about
• 2:48
Speaker 3: the other teams around it? Like when you get to
• 2:50
Speaker 3: that playoffs. Yeah, it's cool that you're let's say you
• 2:53
Speaker 3: win a division with a terrible record, but you're not
• 2:56
Speaker 3: going to face probably a terrible team in the same
• 2:58
Speaker 3: and not the same, but in the conference, you're gonna
• 3:00
Speaker 3: face a better team. And my fear is that if
• 3:03
Speaker 3: this lingers and becomes we're in July and we're like, damn,
• 3:07
Speaker 3: we're still having that. The Manners are still having that
• 3:09
Speaker 3: inconsistency with offense, but the pitching is good or the
• 3:12
Speaker 3: pitching was bad. This night, the offense exploded, but they
• 3:15
Speaker 3: still lost ten to nine. There's just they don't have
• 3:18
Speaker 3: an identity still that that's a big concern. So I
• 3:21
Speaker 3: guess the big if Julio just gets smoking hot and
• 3:26
Speaker 3: the bullpen stabilizes, is that enough for this next ten games?
• 3:30
Speaker 3: Let's just say that, right, the next ten games, because
• 3:32
Speaker 3: Kyle could potentially be back. We'll see how things plan out.
• 3:35
Speaker 3: But I think that's kind of like, hey, we need
• 3:38
Speaker 3: you to be hot, Julio and hopefully everything else works out.
• 3:41
Speaker 3: And I think that's a big ask right now, especially
• 3:43
Speaker 3: with the injuries that are going on. How about the
• 3:46
Speaker 3: team just playing better.
• 3:48
Speaker 1: We just mean, we talked about yesterday consistency, right, it's
• 3:50
Speaker 1: going to be consistency.
• 3:52
Speaker 3: We talked with a win. They didn't lose that game,
• 3:55
Speaker 3: which would have sucked, but here they are now one
• 3:58
Speaker 3: to one. Obviously, just win the series and you put
• 4:01
Speaker 3: to rest some of the concerns depending on how you
• 4:04
Speaker 3: win this afternoon. But I'm just like, man, this feels
• 4:09
Speaker 3: like maybe this is a stretch. Maybe I'm asking too
• 4:11
Speaker 3: much of this team to to make a postseason run.
• 4:14
Speaker 3: Albeit I look on paper, I'm like, this is a
• 4:16
  Speaker 3: really good roster.
• 4:17
Speaker 1: I got it feels like something we should be able
• 4:19
Speaker 1: to ask this team, and especially given that we where
• 4:22
Speaker 1: we are in the American League West and how poorly
• 4:24
Speaker 1: the division is is performing. And I think that's what
• 4:27
Speaker 1: makes people even more frustrated, right we are.
• 4:29
Speaker 2: Everybody looks at it and says.
• 4:31
Speaker 1: Gosh, thank god we're in the American League West, because
• 4:33
Speaker 1: if we're in any other division, we're already out of it.
• 4:35
Speaker 1: I mean not really, but essentially it feels that way,
• 4:38
Speaker 1: right And so you look at this crappy division and think,
• 4:41
Speaker 1: how are we not at least winning a crappy division.
• 4:44
Speaker 1: If we can't do that, you know, if we can't
• 4:46
Speaker 1: be on top of a crappy division right now, we
• 4:48
  Speaker 1: are host And.
• 4:49
Speaker 2: I get that frustration.
• 4:51
Speaker 1: I got the frustration last night with people angry that
• 4:55
Speaker 1: Luis Castile went in in the ninth and he did
• 4:57
Speaker 1: well in the two innings pitch the.
• 4:59
Speaker 2: Piggyback, I thought, was great.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: You had Ferrer come in as a bridge, which we
• 5:02
Speaker 1: knew was going to happen, that it was most likely
• 5:04
Speaker 1: not going to go straight from Miller to Castillo and
• 5:07
Speaker 1: I thought the whole thing up until that point was
• 5:09
Speaker 1: a success, and then unfortunately we were left with what
• 5:13
Speaker 1: I knew was going to be an issue. You've got Castillo,
• 5:16
Speaker 1: who did his job, yeah, and the Mariners thinking.
• 5:20
Speaker 2: We could get a little bit more out of him.
• 5:22
Speaker 1: We had planned for him to go three at three
• 5:25
Speaker 1: innings at least, so why not have him go in
• 5:28
Speaker 1: the ninth? Well, the ninth is an entirely different situation.
• 5:32
Speaker 1: He's not used to something like that, and they stuck
• 5:35
Speaker 1: to their plan. I put out on Twitter, anyone, I
• 5:37
Speaker 1: can't believe people are surprised by this. I'm not defending it.
• 5:41
Speaker 1: I don't think it was the right move. But if
• 5:43
Speaker 1: you're watching this team at all this year and you're
• 5:45
Speaker 1: surprised that they're sticking to a plan that they created,
• 5:49
Speaker 1: then you're not paying very close attention, because.
• 5:51
Speaker 2: That is how they operate.
• 5:53
Speaker 1: They have a plan, They do not deviate from their
• 5:56
Speaker 1: plans very often. Nine times out of ten, that plan
• 5:59
Speaker 1: is the way that they're going and that's it. And
• 6:01
Speaker 1: it's frustrating. We've all been frustrated watching already all this season.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: So what would why why would we think that they
• 6:09
Speaker 1: would go into that last night and then all of
• 6:11
Speaker 1: a sudden deviate from their plan and kind of base
• 6:16
Speaker 1: things on a feel for the game.
• 6:17
Speaker 2: They haven't done it yet, why would we think they'd start.
• 6:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a big question. Their record probably under sells
• 6:24
Speaker 3: and then accurately reflects them at the same time. And
• 6:26
Speaker 3: then I read Daniel Kramer's piece last night where Miller
• 6:29
Speaker 3: comment it's kind of revealing. He states, we very easily
• 6:33
Speaker 3: could be a five to ten games up right now.
• 6:36
Speaker 3: And no, he's not wrong. Seattle has probably played better
• 6:39
Speaker 3: than that twenty three twenty seven stretches showing, but a
• 6:42
Speaker 3: lot of their losses seem to be one or two
• 6:46
Speaker 3: plays away, or a mistake here and there. But the
• 6:49
Speaker 3: good teams, I think they find that they find that
• 6:52
Speaker 3: consistency and they avoid these droughts and the capitol the
• 6:59
Speaker 3: capitalize when their opponents crack. The Mariners are not doing
• 7:03
  Speaker 3: that right now.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: And we are the ones cracking and other people are capitalizing.
• 7:06
Speaker 3: Literally, So maybe it's unlucky. I know, the injuries bug
• 7:11
Speaker 3: is that's just unlucky. You can't do anything about that.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: Teams are going to go through that.
• 7:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, but we can't even really blame anything on that,
• 7:18
Speaker 1: right considering we have now healthy.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: And with Brennan Donovan healthy, we still work.
• 7:22
Speaker 3: With That was gonna be my next point. It's like, well,
• 7:24
Speaker 3: christ you state that, but then they didn't do much
• 7:26
Speaker 3: when they were playing. Yeah, yeah, that's true as well.
• 7:29
Speaker 3: But I was banking on them being better as the
• 7:31
Speaker 3: season progressed. But now there's a stretch where you're not
• 7:34
Speaker 3: gonna even have them. You don't even get to see
• 7:36
Speaker 3: that growth. You're just like, oh, well, when they go
• 7:38
Speaker 3: to Tacoma smacking some homers, Okay, they feel good, they're
• 7:41
Speaker 3: getting on base. Bring them back in and hopefully the
• 7:44
Speaker 3: Mariners are not in a rut still, Hopefully they're closer
• 7:46
Speaker 3: to five hundred instead of being so far below it
• 7:49
Speaker 3: right now. And my concern is that the inconsistent inconsistencies
• 7:55
Speaker 3: continue and we're having a darker conversation come late June
• 8:01
Speaker 3: and we're like, Jesus, Jess Louise, this is not what
• 8:03
Speaker 3: we expected from this team, considering where they were last season,
• 8:09
Speaker 3: how improved some of the players are on this roster,
• 8:12
Speaker 3: what they're doing, and that that would just really stink.
• 8:15
Speaker 3: So I'm hoping that things can turn around, but I'm
• 8:18
Speaker 3: imagine the text line is like, kid, don't be so
• 8:20
Speaker 3: full of it. It's a rap and I don't want to.
• 8:22
Speaker 2: Oh, there's a lot of people that have already given it,
• 8:24
Speaker 2: and I'm sure of it.
• 8:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's because the frustration, which is totally valid, is
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: just increasing.
• 8:29
Speaker 3: We saw that last year when they were struggling.
• 8:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna happen.
• 8:33
Speaker 1: I mean that is this team, This team, more than
• 8:36
Speaker 1: any other team, has such an ability to pull anger
• 8:40
  Speaker 1: and frustration.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: Out of its fan base.
• 8:42
Speaker 1: And it's because, you know, fifty years of just wanting
• 8:45
Speaker 1: this team to succeed, and we get it so few
• 8:48
Speaker 1: and far between that it's like all of this angst,
• 8:51
Speaker 1: all of this energy that we are pouring into trying
• 8:54
Speaker 1: to will this team to be good, and you know,
• 8:56
Speaker 1: and then what do we get. We get games like
• 8:58
Speaker 1: last night where we get one hit, one run, and
• 9:01
Speaker 1: then so many people angry that Castilla went in in
• 9:04
Speaker 1: the ninth and put runners on and then Mooney had
• 9:07
Speaker 1: to come in in a difficult situation and obviously that
• 9:09
Speaker 1: didn't work out. That's not on Mooney. It's also not
• 9:12
Speaker 1: on Castile. It's if you have more than one run,
• 9:16
Speaker 1: one hit, you should be winning that game. Yeah, your
• 9:20
Speaker 1: pitching staff gave up four hits and two runs.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: That is enough. They did their job.
• 9:24
Speaker 3: Me and you can go out there and maybe get
• 9:26
  Speaker 3: a butt. Right.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: There is literally no team in Major League Baseball that
• 9:30
Speaker 1: starts their season and thinks, Okay, we've got to look
• 9:32
Speaker 1: at our goals for this season.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna make my goal.
• 9:35
Speaker 1: You know what, Let's just have our pitching staff only
• 9:37
Speaker 1: give up four hits and two runs every game and
• 9:39
Speaker 1: we'll be good. No, no, nobody ever thinks that that's all.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: That's what they should expect from a pitching staff on
• 9:45
Speaker 1: a game and game out basis. But every single Major
• 9:49
Speaker 1: League Baseball team looks at their goals for the season
• 9:52
Speaker 1: and says, we got to make sure we get more
• 9:54
Speaker 1: than one hit every damn game. Yeah, and that is
• 9:58
Speaker 1: the fact. I mean, the off is struggling. It is
• 10:01
Speaker 1: frustrating to watch. Yes, there were multiple reasons we lost
• 10:04
Speaker 1: that game. We can question till we are blue in
• 10:07
Speaker 1: the face about why Luis Castillo went in to start
• 10:09
Speaker 1: the ninth and Andres Munnos didn't. We can absolutely do that.
• 10:12
Speaker 1: It is a valid thing to wonder. It is just
• 10:17
Speaker 1: not something we should be surprised by. But the one
• 10:20
Speaker 1: thing you said, you know, you've brought up consistency. The
• 10:23
Speaker 1: one thing that we are consistent at is not being
• 10:26
Speaker 1: consistent at the plate.
• 10:27
Speaker 3: That's bad. It reminds me of the control of the zone,
• 10:31
Speaker 3: the resilience, the upbeatness of this team, and I'm not
• 10:34
Speaker 3: seeing that right now. And I wonder, at some point
• 10:37
Speaker 3: do and these repeated tough losses by a run or
• 10:43
Speaker 3: two runs, whatever the case may be, is the clubhouse
• 10:46
Speaker 3: starting to be in disbelief that, man, this lead pitch,
• 10:49
Speaker 3: lead pitching is is going wasted because offensively, we're not
• 10:53
Speaker 3: doing our part. How long does that that and how
• 10:57
Speaker 3: long does that rub on or does it wear off?
• 11:00
Speaker 3: At what point do they are they just like, man,
• 11:02
Speaker 3: we're exhausted. We are letting these guys down by not
• 11:05
Speaker 3: doing our part, because it's a team thing at the
• 11:07
Speaker 3: end of the day, and you can only ask so
• 11:10
Speaker 3: much of your pictures.
• 11:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, Felix Hernandez is like, hold my beer, like you know,
• 11:14
Speaker 1: this is this is the one again, the one consistent
• 11:18
Speaker 1: thing that the Mariners have is their lack of consistency
• 11:22
Speaker 1: at the plate. And it's not just this season. This
• 11:24
Speaker 1: is an ongoing thing. We are offense continually struggles. I
• 11:28
Speaker 1: mean to the point where we have had articles written
• 11:30
Speaker 1: about is it the ballpark is I mean all sorts
• 11:33
Speaker 1: of things with people trying to figure out why this
• 11:36
Speaker 1: team struggles so much at the plate. So none of
• 11:38
Speaker 1: that should be surprising, but all of it needs to
• 11:41
Speaker 1: be focused on because that is what we need to
• 11:42
Speaker 1: fix and everything else. Again, you have more than one
• 11:46
Speaker 1: hit when one run in that game, and I you're
• 11:48
Speaker 1: winning that game last night. You are going to win
• 11:50
Speaker 1: that game, and it's just frustrating that we ended up
• 11:56
Speaker 1: losing it in such a you know, just gut punching
• 12:00
Speaker 1: way and where it almost you know, for so many
• 12:03
Speaker 1: people kind of fell on the pitching staff, which it
• 12:05
Speaker 1: never should have because they did their damn job.
• 12:07
Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't want to put too much on Munos,
• 12:09
Speaker 3: oh my goodness, can you?
• 12:10
Speaker 1: And nothing not on Castillo either. He did what he
• 12:12
Speaker 1: was supposed to do. He went out when he was
• 12:14
Speaker 1: supposed to go out. Did they leave him out too long? Yes?
• 12:16
Speaker 3: Yeah, I know a lot of people use the pie
• 12:18
Speaker 3: chart like the pitchers get a very small percentage. Yeah.
• 12:22
Speaker 3: The larger issue is Seattle scored one run on one hit. Yeah,
• 12:28
Speaker 3: that is the problem, and it has been a unfortunately
• 12:32
Speaker 3: problem we've seen before. It's not as if this just
• 12:35
Speaker 3: happened for the first time all season, because the record
• 12:38
Speaker 3: wouldn't be what it is. They would be really good
• 12:40
Speaker 3: and they're like, just tough loss it, they'll bounce back.
• 12:43
Speaker 3: But yet again we're talking about issues that have been
• 12:46
Speaker 3: coming up with this roster. First seems like forever, regarding
• 12:51
Speaker 3: this specific issue of strikeouts not being on bays, just
• 12:54
Speaker 3: wasted opportunities, and you mentioned the basis being loaded and
• 12:59
  Speaker 3: coming out with.
• 12:59
Speaker 2: Nothing nothing, and that is not the first time that's happened.
• 13:02
Speaker 3: And that's pretty bad. At some point, can someone bunt
• 13:05
  Speaker 3: I don't know, get a run. I know that's not
• 13:07
Speaker 3: the philosophy of this roster and the team, but stop
• 13:12
Speaker 3: trying to do it one way and maybe just I
• 13:14
Speaker 3: don't know, go outside the box.
• 13:17
Speaker 1: Wouldn't that be a novel idea. We are so focused
• 13:19
Speaker 1: in this little box and you know a lot of
• 13:22
Speaker 1: people were like, well, we had a one nothing lead
• 13:24
Speaker 1: going into the ninth We should have been able to
• 13:26
Speaker 1: win the game. The problem here is that you leave
• 13:28
Speaker 1: no room for error, Zal and this is the Mariners.
• 13:31
Speaker 1: You need to leave a little room for error, and
• 13:33
Speaker 1: that's unfair to your pitching staff to leave them no
• 13:35
Speaker 1: room for one mistake.
• 13:37
Speaker 2: And I looked it up.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: So since nineteen fourteen, sixty four games have been won
• 13:43
Speaker 1: by a one nothing lead with one hit.
• 13:45
Speaker 2: Sixty four games in over one hundred years.
• 13:47
  Speaker 3: That's crazy.
• 13:48
Speaker 2: The Mariners have won two of them.
• 13:50
Speaker 3: That's not a great stat to say, yeah, just be perfect. Yeah,
• 13:54
Speaker 3: one zero wins, that's fine.
• 13:56
Speaker 1: How would you ever expect that? And how could you
• 13:57
Speaker 1: put any of that loss on the pitching staff?
• 13:59
  Speaker 2: And I don't. I don't think it's only on the offense.
• 14:04
Speaker 1: That's not what I'm saying, But so many people are
• 14:05
Speaker 1: putting it only on the decision to put Castillo out
• 14:08
  Speaker 1: in the ninth.
• 14:09
Speaker 3: Imagine being a picture on that roster and knowing that,
• 14:11
  Speaker 3: damn if I don't play perfect, there's a chance we
• 14:14
Speaker 3: don't walk out of here with a dub. And I
• 14:16
Speaker 3: got an L on my record. Not that it's about
• 14:17
Speaker 3: that picture, but you get my point. I think the
• 14:19
Speaker 3: frustration starts to build up. And granted, no player is
• 14:22
Speaker 3: gonna ever come out unless you're just a one of
• 14:25
Speaker 3: those guys that you know you you're fed up and
• 14:27
  Speaker 3: you're gonna voice. I mean, I can't. I couldn't blame
• 14:29
Speaker 3: someone if they're a picture and they voiced it, I'd
• 14:31
Speaker 3: probably say, don't go to the media for it, keep
• 14:33
Speaker 3: it in house. But that's another thing, another day for
• 14:36
Speaker 3: a discussion. But yeah, I just imagine being one of
• 14:39
Speaker 3: those pictures out there and you're thinking, damn, it's too
• 14:42
Speaker 3: nothing in the ninth, Well, what happens if I give
• 14:46
Speaker 3: up a run here? Is the offense gonna be able
• 14:47
Speaker 3: to do anything? Or are we just it's screwed? That's
• 14:51
Speaker 3: a or even just one zero as it was last night.
• 14:54
Speaker 1: Right, you'd think, like, even giving up two runs in
• 14:57
Speaker 1: the ninth and being down to one, we still have
• 15:00
Speaker 1: a chance to win that game if the offense could
• 15:02
  Speaker 1: do anything.
• 15:03
Speaker 2: But they already looked defeated when they.
• 15:05
Speaker 1: Stepped up to the plate, and so you're watching just
• 15:08
Speaker 1: kind of feudal attempts at bats and it was like, well, yeah.
• 15:12
Speaker 2: You guys have already lost the game in your mind.
• 15:15
Speaker 2: I don't know, the whole thing so frustrating.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: I fully understand why anybody has a bad taste in
• 15:19
Speaker 1: their mouth after that game. It was gross on a
• 15:22
Speaker 1: lot of levels, and I just, you know, a lot
• 15:26
Speaker 1: of people got mad when I put out on Twitter.
• 15:28
Speaker 1: Nobody should be surprised that Castillo went out in the night. Again,
• 15:32
Speaker 1: I am not defending the decision to put Castillo out
• 15:35
Speaker 1: in the ninth I'm saying, if you've watched this team
• 15:37
Speaker 1: and the fact that they always have a plan, you
• 15:40
Speaker 1: should not be surprised that they stuck to the plan.
• 15:43
  Speaker 2: That's it.
• 15:44
Speaker 1: Nobody should have been surprised by that. Everybody is more
• 15:47
Speaker 1: than welcome to be angry, frustrated, irritated, pissed off, whatever,
• 15:53
Speaker 1: by all means, you know, be frustrated with this team
• 15:55
Speaker 1: right now. I sure am, and I love this team
• 15:59
Speaker 1: and I want this team to do well. But it's
• 16:01
Speaker 1: like every single day we find a new way to
• 16:04
Speaker 1: shoot ourselves in the foot, and a lot of times
• 16:06
Speaker 1: it comes from the offense. Unfortunately, Yeah, it really does.
• 16:11
  Speaker 3: It's bad. It's not a not a not fun to
• 16:14
Speaker 3: be a Mariners fan at this point of the season.
• 16:16
Speaker 3: But there's a lot to look up to, including today.
• 16:19
Speaker 3: So if they can just handle business this afternoon, the
• 16:25
Speaker 3: conversation will be a lot different. Tomorrow. It'll be oh
• 16:27
Speaker 3: my gosh, they're back. It'll be that's one win, all right,
• 16:30
Speaker 3: onto the next and you I love this Mike McDonald
• 16:33
Speaker 3: frays of stacking it. It works well. So if they
• 16:35
Speaker 3: can stack some consistency within that offensive lineup. Yeah, and
• 16:40
Speaker 3: maybe it's not just on the players. Maybe it's a
• 16:43
Speaker 3: structural issue and how they're the lineup is I'm not sure.
• 16:46
  Speaker 3: I don't have the answer.
• 16:47
Speaker 2: So when you're leading off with the rob Refsnader, we've
• 16:48
  Speaker 2: got other issues.
• 16:50
Speaker 3: That is a fair point there.
• 16:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just I mean again, we're so focused on
• 16:54
Speaker 1: this lefty on if a lefty's pitching, and who's going
• 16:57
Speaker 1: to I mean, they're not performing either way. So just
• 17:00
Speaker 1: put your best damn line up out there and see
• 17:01
Speaker 1: what happens. Because the people that you're putting in to
• 17:03
Speaker 1: attack lefties aren't attacking lefties.
• 17:05
Speaker 2: And our lineup looked pretty bad lesson.
• 17:07
Speaker 3: Yep, So what more can we add? Oh we have
• 17:10
Speaker 3: Dan Wilson audio will play for you, I believe.
• 17:12
  Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we'll do that. I was I was
• 17:14
Speaker 1: gonna try to do it here, but we just had
• 17:15
Speaker 1: too much. We had to get off our chest. So
• 17:16
Speaker 1: I think we'll do that at forty five because we've
• 17:19
Speaker 1: got Anders coming in next to talk World Cup. I
• 17:21
Speaker 1: know which feels so weird because I'm like, I could
• 17:23
Speaker 1: just talk about this Mariner's frustration, the entire understand.
• 17:25
Speaker 3: We're sorry, we're gonna ditch you to continue discussion on
• 17:29
Speaker 3: the Mariners and you complaining four one? What are your
• 17:33
Speaker 3: thoughts on the Mariners?
• 17:34
  Speaker 4: Go?
• 17:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, actually we do want your thoughts at four nine,
• 17:36
Speaker 1: four or five one though at eleven thirty.
• 17:39
Speaker 2: That's all right, let it out. It's a therapy line.
• 17:41
Speaker 3: It's gonna be pretty nasty today, and that's okay.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: Yep, it's a therapy line. What you say, say what
• 17:47
Speaker 1: you gotta say, it is okay, all right. We're gonna
• 17:49
Speaker 1: be back with Andrews. I'm sure we'll still squeak in
• 17:51
Speaker 1: a little Mariner's talk with him and Sounder or not
• 17:54
Speaker 1: Sounder Stock and World Cup talk that's coming up.
• 17:56
Speaker 2: Sports Radio ninety three three kJ r FM.
• 17:59
Speaker 4: Now back to Great Bell and Christopher Kidd on your
• 18:02
Speaker 4: home for the Huskies Cracket and the twelfth Man. Sports
• 18:05
Speaker 4: Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.
• 18:26
Speaker 1: I feel like I needed to have a deep breath.
• 18:28
Speaker 1: Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ r FM. It's
• 18:31
Speaker 1: Ashley Ryan, Christopher Kidd in for Greg Bell. We were
• 18:34
Speaker 1: going to potentially talk World Cup with Anders, but let's
• 18:37
Speaker 1: be honest, I think everybody is too fired up about Mariners,
• 18:40
Speaker 1: and rightfully so, so we're gonna hold off on Anders
• 18:44
Speaker 1: and World Cup talk.
• 18:45
Speaker 2: We are gonna we want to give that it's due.
• 18:47
Speaker 1: We want to make sure we are fully focused on
• 18:49
Speaker 1: World Cup fever, which is going to be coming a
• 18:52
Speaker 1: real soon or less than a month away from that.
• 18:53
Speaker 1: So we will catch up with with Anders on the
• 18:56
Speaker 1: morning show probably next week and figure out how the
• 19:00
  Speaker 1: FEVA is growing.
• 19:02
Speaker 3: See he did there, the fever fever.
• 19:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, And so instead we're gonna talk about Mariners. I know,
• 19:10
Speaker 1: get ready, get ready, But you know a lot of
• 19:12
Speaker 1: people are on the text line saying, hey, what about
• 19:14
Speaker 1: Dan Wilson and coming out to the mound his second
• 19:17
Speaker 1: attempted mound visit, which was a big problem. We just
• 19:20
Speaker 1: had a lot that we had to talk about in
• 19:22
Speaker 1: that first segment, so we saved our Dan Wilson audio
• 19:24
Speaker 1: for later, and now we have some time here that
• 19:27
Speaker 1: we can play that and then discuss the Dan Wilson
• 19:30
Speaker 1: aspect of all of this.
• 19:31
Speaker 2: So let's hear from the skipper first.
• 19:33
Speaker 5: It's up going to lose.
• 19:34
Speaker 6: Late tonight, but the way the guy's pitch tonight. You know,
• 19:36
Speaker 6: got the one run early. I thought we did a
• 19:38
Speaker 6: good job putting a lot of pitches on k early,
• 19:41
Speaker 6: but then he was able to kind of settle in
• 19:42
Speaker 6: and it was a little bit tougher as the game
• 19:44
Speaker 6: went on. Just not able to get too much going
• 19:47
Speaker 6: on after that first inning there. But you know, Bryce
• 19:50
Speaker 6: was throwing the ball extremely well. You know, Fred did
• 19:53
Speaker 6: a really nice job getting us out of it, and
• 19:55
Speaker 6: then you know, Rock continued to throw the ball well,
• 19:59
Speaker 6: just weren't able to hold on to it in the end,
• 20:00
Speaker 6: and tough one to lose considerations to start with.
• 20:05
  Speaker 3: Any just.
• 20:10
Speaker 6: We talked about before you know the game started that
• 20:13
Speaker 6: different scenarios exist in the piggyback situation.
• 20:15
Speaker 5: And Rocket gotten in there a little bit later.
• 20:17
Speaker 6: So we felt really comfortable with Rock out there, especially
• 20:20
Speaker 6: the way he was throwing the ball, and it just
• 20:22
Speaker 6: didn't go away there in the ninth. Yeah, I mean
• 20:25
Speaker 6: started win a game on yeh thinks twice now in
• 20:28
Speaker 6: the last game or last three games, you guys have
• 20:30
Speaker 6: gotten one hit in a game.
• 20:31
Speaker 5: I mean, where are you seeing right now?
• 20:35
Speaker 6: Yeah, Like I said, early, I thought the bats were good.
• 20:38
Speaker 6: We were putting long at bats, we were seeing pitches.
• 20:41
Speaker 6: I think he was kind of spraying the ball quite
• 20:43
Speaker 6: a bit earlier. He found a little bit better command
• 20:45
Speaker 6: later on, and he can be difficult when he's when
• 20:48
Speaker 6: he's able to command the ball. He pitched well against
• 20:50
Speaker 6: us in Chicago, and we just weren't able to add on.
• 20:52
Speaker 6: We weren't able to get traffic and get the ball going,
• 20:55
Speaker 6: and it's frustrating for sure.
• 20:56
Speaker 5: We got to come back tomorrow and and win the series.
• 21:00
Speaker 3: I think was the biggest takeaway from the taking next
• 21:02
Speaker 3: situation because with Bryce, you know, that's a situation, even with.
• 21:05
Speaker 6: Berd Comedy coming up, that would probably keep.
• 21:08
Speaker 3: Him in the game with the one hit, the one walking,
• 21:10
Speaker 3: with the less than the invitations in that.
• 21:11
  Speaker 5: Situation, Yeah, it's a different scenario. It's a different situation.
• 21:15
Speaker 6: Bryce had thrown the ball extremely well and had it
• 21:18
Speaker 6: not been for no hits, I think, you know, would
• 21:19
Speaker 6: have been a different guy out there to start the inning.
• 21:21
Speaker 5: But think in that situation with with it.
• 21:23
Speaker 6: Being the one run game, we felt like we could
• 21:25
Speaker 6: get get you know, left on left there and get
• 21:27
Speaker 6: out of the inning and then hand the ball of
• 21:29
Speaker 6: the rock. And I thought freer came in and did
• 21:31
Speaker 6: a nice job based on how Bryce was throwing, what
• 21:35
Speaker 6: you saw from Louise later in the game, how inclined
• 21:38
Speaker 6: you think right now would you be to go back
• 21:40
Speaker 6: to this to get next turn to the invitation?
• 21:43
Speaker 5: The way both guys handled it, I thought they handled
• 21:45
Speaker 5: it extremely well. I give the rock a lot of credit.
• 21:47
Speaker 6: He had to be kind of flexible down there, giving
• 21:49
Speaker 6: Bryce a situation and no hitter, And then thought he
• 21:52
Speaker 6: did a really nice job of being flexible coming in there,
• 21:56
Speaker 6: and thought he was throwing the ball extremely well. So
• 21:58
Speaker 6: I thought both guys handled it very very well, extremely well.
• 22:01
Speaker 6: And we'll continue to reflect on it and talk about
• 22:03
Speaker 6: it the you know next time around.
• 22:05
Speaker 5: Yeah, what is this is a typicult like do you're
• 22:07
Speaker 5: not getting done before?
• 22:08
  Speaker 1: You know?
• 22:09
Speaker 6: Does does your thought process change the next time around?
• 22:12
Speaker 6: Like you know, maybe if it isn't clean inning, do
• 22:14
Speaker 6: you go to communions or do you change anything?
• 22:16
Speaker 5: Because you have one time to evalue it, you go.
• 22:21
Speaker 6: Back, we'll all look at it, we'll all talk about
• 22:23
Speaker 6: it and see where we might have done things differently
• 22:25
Speaker 6: or make our adjustments from there.
• 22:27
Speaker 5: You know, again, this is a this is a game of.
• 22:29
Speaker 6: Adjustments and and and we'll have to make ours as
• 22:32
Speaker 6: as we go forward and and do this the next time.
• 22:35
Speaker 5: Yeah, what was the explanation.
• 22:36
Speaker 6: You're trying to bring the pitch and changes and you're
• 22:38
Speaker 6: not allowed to go back out, and that's on me.
• 22:40
Speaker 5: I thought we could still go out and make the change.
• 22:41
Speaker 6: And thankfully Rock got the got the out, got the
• 22:43
Speaker 6: punch out, and we were able to make the change.
• 22:45
Speaker 5: But once once the pitching coach goes out, he has
• 22:46
Speaker 5: to see you earlater. How tough is it?
• 22:49
Speaker 2: Maybe in particular, you know you need it's a little
• 22:51
Speaker 2: bit extra time to get warm.
• 22:52
Speaker 5: But when did you start to think of, okay, maybe
• 22:55
Speaker 5: we'll have to do this.
• 22:56
Speaker 3: How quickly is that conversation happened?
• 22:58
Speaker 5: I think he was up and was ready to go.
• 23:01
Speaker 6: I think we you know, we knew that if there
• 23:03
Speaker 6: was some traffic and you know, we had a chance
• 23:05
Speaker 6: to close it out, that that's where we would probably go.
• 23:08
Speaker 5: So he was ready to go.
• 23:10
  Speaker 2: I think, okay.
• 23:11
Speaker 1: There's a lot of interesting things from there. First off,
• 23:13
Speaker 1: Ryan Divisio's question that was the Mariner's manager Dan Wilson
• 23:17
Speaker 1: post game last night. Ryan Divisio's question of Okay, so
• 23:20
Speaker 1: this was your first time with this piggyback situation, how
• 23:24
Speaker 1: do you evaluate this moving forward? Do you go back
• 23:26
Speaker 1: and think, like, Okay, you know, maybe in this situation,
• 23:29
Speaker 1: next time we let Mooney start an inning rather than
• 23:31
Speaker 1: coming in with runners on.
• 23:33
  Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's what we're all wondering, are
• 23:35
  Speaker 2: you know?
• 23:36
Speaker 1: Because I don't think that anybody could look at the
• 23:38
Speaker 1: piggyback situation last night and think that was a failure.
• 23:41
Speaker 2: You gave up four hits and two runs.
• 23:44
Speaker 1: If I think most Mariners fans would say, if we
• 23:47
Speaker 1: get even with this team four hits and two runs,
• 23:50
Speaker 1: we should win the game.
• 23:52
Speaker 2: Most of the time we should. And so I think
• 23:56
  Speaker 2: I liked it.
• 23:57
Speaker 1: I was happy with the piggyback situation. I think it
• 24:00
Speaker 1: it went off with really well, especially with Bryce Miller
• 24:03
Speaker 1: going even longer than expected. I do think that kind
• 24:05
Speaker 1: of threw things off, that he went longer than expected,
• 24:08
Speaker 1: and so again, learning experience, I completely understand that there
• 24:11
Speaker 1: is no excuse though for in the ninth or in
• 24:17
Speaker 1: was it the ninth inning? Yeah, in the ninth inning,
• 24:18
Speaker 1: when Woody goes out to the mound to talk to
• 24:21
Speaker 1: Castillo and try to buy some time for Mooney to
• 24:25
Speaker 1: get more warmed up because Mooney was not ready to
• 24:28
Speaker 1: start the ninth. He was still in a sweatshirt standing
• 24:30
Speaker 1: there with his hands in his pockets, so he was
• 24:32
Speaker 1: definitely not ready to start the ninth and so I
• 24:36
Speaker 1: think they screwed up there because he should have at
• 24:38
Speaker 1: least been throwing and ready to go the second one.
• 24:40
Speaker 2: I think I think he should have been.
• 24:42
Speaker 1: If you're gonna put Castillo in, he should have been
• 24:44
Speaker 1: pulled the second we got somebody on base, and then
• 24:46
Speaker 1: you're not putting Mooney at such a disadvantage with two
• 24:49
Speaker 1: runners on and a problem, and especially the double steal.
• 24:52
Speaker 1: So I think you go out. If you're woody, you
• 24:55
Speaker 1: buy time. But then you have to know in that
• 24:57
Speaker 1: meeting we're pulling him now or we're not. We're just
• 25:00
Speaker 1: gonna have a little long conversation before we pull him,
• 25:02
Speaker 1: and they didn't. They had the conversation, then they went
• 25:05
Speaker 1: back into the dugout and then they were like, no, no, no,
• 25:07
Speaker 1: actually we want to pull him.
• 25:08
  Speaker 2: I don't know how. You don't know that you can't
• 25:09
  Speaker 2: do that.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: And even Dan Wilson explaining it after like, yeah, you know,
• 25:14
Speaker 1: we can't do back to back mound visits and that's
• 25:16
Speaker 1: on me. Well, yeah, it is on you because you
• 25:18
Speaker 1: should have absolutely known that and kind of trying to
• 25:22
Speaker 1: go back out made us look terrible and like we
• 25:24
Speaker 1: had no idea what we were doing.
• 25:26
Speaker 2: Which apparently we had no idea what we were.
• 25:28
Speaker 3: Doing, and that's true. So where to go from here.
• 25:34
Speaker 1: That's the great question. I think you can take positives
• 25:36
Speaker 1: away for sure. As I said, piggyback, it works. Yes,
• 25:39
Speaker 1: it was a success, and so I think, you know,
• 25:41
Speaker 1: you've got to do some tweaking.
• 25:43
Speaker 2: You've got to have a different plan. You've got to know.
• 25:45
Speaker 1: Okay, if we get those two great innings out of
• 25:48
Speaker 1: Castillo and we're heading into the ninth with a small lead,
• 25:51
Speaker 1: we cannot put Mooney at a disadvantage going into that game.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: It's got to be start the inning with Mooney. Because
• 25:57
Speaker 1: Castillo is not a closer. He does not come in
• 26:00
Speaker 1: in those high leverage you know situations. Granted yesterday with
• 26:04
Speaker 1: a one run lead, all of it was high leverage,
• 26:05
Speaker 1: but he does not come in to close. That is
• 26:07
Speaker 1: a different type of game to manage for a picture,
• 26:10
Speaker 1: and he doesn't have any experience with that. So you're
• 26:13
Speaker 1: already putting him at a disadvantage to go into the
• 26:16
Speaker 1: game in the ninth You got to just leave it,
• 26:18
Speaker 1: leave it with Mooney and trust that Mooney's gonna get
• 26:20
Speaker 1: it done. If Mooney doesn't get it done, okay, well
• 26:22
Speaker 1: you tried, and blown saves happen. We've seen that a lot,
• 26:26
Speaker 1: so I think that would be the one thing you
• 26:29
Speaker 1: would change. I'm trying to think of what else aside
• 26:33
Speaker 1: from just asking them to get more hits.
• 26:35
Speaker 3: I think that's honestly, to be honest, that's probably the
• 26:38
Speaker 3: biggest one. Yeah, I don't want to put too much
• 26:41
Speaker 3: on the pitching. Yeah, we talked about being success. Dan
• 26:46
Speaker 3: Wilson can learn a thing or two. He mentioned his mistakes,
• 26:50
Speaker 3: so well, that's another issue there. But I think honestly
• 26:53
Speaker 3: we that we the managers have to get on base
• 26:56
  Speaker 3: and be productive.
• 26:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, that is It's simple baseball, right, I want I
• 27:02
  Speaker 2: don't hard game.
• 27:02
Speaker 3: But I don't want to make it sound so obvious.
• 27:05
Speaker 3: But I don't know what else I could add.
• 27:07
Speaker 2: But yeah, we don't need to overcomplicate it.
• 27:09
  Speaker 3: That's it.
• 27:10
Speaker 1: Get on base and score runs.
• 27:14
  Speaker 3: I don't maybe I don't make it. Might be it
• 27:17
Speaker 3: feels as if it is. It's just because of how
• 27:19
Speaker 3: this team has been playing this season. So, yeah, can
• 27:22
Speaker 3: you guys get some hits? Not home runs. Home runs
• 27:25
Speaker 3: are cool and all, but get on base when the
• 27:28
Speaker 3: bays are loaded. Bring one run in? Yeah, one, just one.
• 27:33
Speaker 1: I'm curious to see and people can chime in on
• 27:36
Speaker 1: the Tacoma Doadge text line four nine four or five one.
• 27:38
Speaker 1: I'm curious to see if you have how your feelings
• 27:42
Speaker 1: about this team have changed from the start of the
• 27:43
  Speaker 1: season until now.
• 27:45
Speaker 2: I mean, because you know, we know the lineup we had.
• 27:48
Speaker 1: Obviously we've got some injuries, but we know the players
• 27:50
Speaker 1: that we've got, right, we know what team we are
• 27:52
Speaker 1: dealing with. Were you confident at the beginning of the
• 27:55
Speaker 1: season that this is the team that's going to go
• 27:56
Speaker 1: to the playoffs and make a run towards the World Series?
• 27:59
Speaker 1: And if you were, have you lost that confidence? Do
• 28:02
Speaker 1: you still maintain that confidence? Were you not confident at
• 28:04
Speaker 1: all to begin with and nothing's changed? I would like
• 28:07
Speaker 1: to know that, because I definitely came into the season
• 28:09
Speaker 1: pretty confident that we were going to make a strong
• 28:11
Speaker 1: run in the playoffs again. And while I wouldn't say
• 28:15
Speaker 1: that confidence is gone, it's definitely taking a hit and
• 28:20
Speaker 1: I asked Chuck the other day, like, is this just
• 28:23
Speaker 1: because of kind of being in this in the present
• 28:27
Speaker 1: moment that I feel like this is more like one
• 28:30
Speaker 1: of the more frustrated years I've had, one of the
• 28:33
Speaker 1: you know, I don't recall being this frustrated, And he said, no,
• 28:37
Speaker 1: I think we were this frustrated.
• 28:38
Speaker 2: I think it was similar last year.
• 28:40
Speaker 1: But it always works itself out, and so I think,
• 28:42
Speaker 1: like it's like a PTSD thing, right, we just try
• 28:45
Speaker 1: to forget that part that traumatized us from the season
• 28:50
Speaker 1: before because it works out in a positive way and
• 28:53
Speaker 1: the only ones we remember are the ones that didn't
• 28:56
Speaker 1: end up positively, and then those are the ones we
• 28:58
Speaker 1: hang on to. So I can't remember in this moment
• 29:01
Speaker 1: last year when we had a slow start. I don't
• 29:03
Speaker 1: remember being this frustrated. I feel like this is worse
• 29:07
Speaker 1: than I've had it before because I think, again, we
• 29:10
Speaker 1: had such high expectations coming off last year.
• 29:14
Speaker 3: Well, let's try to be hopeful positive and hey, Mariners,
• 29:18
Speaker 3: just get a win today and we will act as
• 29:21
Speaker 3: if what we witnessed last night took place, But we're
• 29:25
Speaker 3: not going to bring it up because you guys won,
• 29:27
Speaker 3: and if you continue winning all is right.
• 29:29
Speaker 2: Again, we are going to do to yourselves lose.
• 29:32
Speaker 3: Again this afternoon. I don't know what to expect tomorrow.
• 29:36
Speaker 3: As a matter of fact, maybe we'll pull for Nest.
• 29:38
Speaker 3: Just not even talk about the Mariners for the first segment.
• 29:40
  Speaker 4: I don't know.
• 29:41
Speaker 3: Just get to a more We just avoid the discussion,
• 29:43
Speaker 3: and I don't think too many people will be upset.
• 29:45
Speaker 3: You can make up some Seahawk talk. There's always something there.
• 29:48
Speaker 3: Some find stuff to do. That might be the best
• 29:51
Speaker 3: case of course of action. Just avoid the discussion.
• 29:54
Speaker 1: Well, hopefully it doesn't come to that, but I do
• 29:56
Speaker 1: think it is funny because we will do that to ourselves.
• 29:58
Speaker 1: If they win again, then we're gonna focus on the
• 30:00
Speaker 1: things they want and we are going to ride this
• 30:01
Speaker 1: roller coaster until we see some consistency. And uh yeah,
• 30:05
Speaker 1: I just want let's just string some well I'm not
• 30:07
Speaker 1: even gonna say string some wins together.
• 30:09
Speaker 2: Just get one and then get one the time, one
• 30:12
Speaker 2: at a time. All right.
• 30:13
Speaker 1: Well, because we were able to talk Marriners there, we
• 30:16
Speaker 1: do have to have a little bit of an NBA
• 30:18
Speaker 1: conversation because I'm pretty impressed with these NBA playoffs right now.
• 30:21
Speaker 1: But there's some things changing in the league, and we
• 30:24
Speaker 1: are going to talk about that.
• 30:24
  Speaker 2: Coming up next.
• 30:25
Speaker 1: It's Sports Radio ninety three three KJRFM.
• 30:41
Speaker 2: Sports Radio ninety three to.
• 30:42
Speaker 1: Three KJRFM, Ashley Ryan, Christopher kid in for Greg Bell.
• 30:47
Speaker 1: And if you've been watching the NBA playoffs, which I
• 30:49
Speaker 1: am not, I don't consider myself an NBA fan right now,
• 30:52
Speaker 1: at least not until we get the Sonics back. I
• 30:54
Speaker 1: feel burned by the NBA. I have a hard time
• 30:56
Speaker 1: watching regular season games. I do usually take a peek
• 31:00
Speaker 1: at playoff games, but the first two games in the
• 31:03
Speaker 1: Conference finals have been more than exciting. Double ot Spurs
• 31:07
Speaker 1: win in Game one in the West and an overtime
• 31:10
Speaker 1: Nicks win yesterday after being down twenty two. I mean,
• 31:13
Speaker 1: that was those both great games to watch, and as
• 31:17
Speaker 1: the person it's kind of, you know, the fringe NBA
• 31:20
  Speaker 1: fan just.
• 31:20
Speaker 2: Watching the excitement. I thought, man, this is really cool.
• 31:24
Speaker 1: You sent me a text the other day though, that
• 31:25
Speaker 1: said that you think the NBA playoffs kind of feel
• 31:27
Speaker 1: different right now and maybe that we're heading into a
• 31:30
Speaker 1: new era of the NBA. You think that's like a
• 31:32
Speaker 1: positive Are you saying like it feel different in a
• 31:34
  Speaker 1: positive way?
• 31:35
Speaker 2: Just in a weird way. Is it negative? What do
• 31:37
  Speaker 2: you think?
• 31:38
Speaker 3: I think it's a positive. Right. These playoffs may prove
• 31:40
Speaker 3: that the NBA is better or healthier than what you
• 31:48
Speaker 3: see in the regular season because it's transitioning from the
• 31:53
Speaker 3: old players Lebron, Curry and Katie. They're not in the
• 31:57
Speaker 3: they're not in the deep run like they like they
• 31:59
Speaker 3: have been over the past decade. And now you're seeing
• 32:02
Speaker 3: this new generation of talent. Whether it's SGA, he feels
• 32:06
Speaker 3: as if he might be the next face of this league.
• 32:09
Speaker 3: You got Anthony Edwards who just lost to SGA obviously,
• 32:13
Speaker 3: but he's becoming this this personality that everyone kind of
• 32:18
Speaker 3: likes and enjoys. And he's also killer in the playoffs.
• 32:21
Speaker 3: He's really good, but they gotta be by a better team. Fair.
• 32:24
Speaker 3: And then Jalen Brunson, who makes the New York Knicks.
• 32:26
Speaker 3: I would say, mut's watch TV, Like, if you're watching
• 32:28
Speaker 3: the next game, you're like, oh, I want to watch
• 32:30
Speaker 3: Jaalen Brunson and see what he's gonna do. Yeah, and
• 32:32
Speaker 3: you saw a little bit of that last night when
• 32:33
Speaker 3: he dropped. Yeah, he just had an amazing game. Yet
• 32:36
Speaker 3: so and then last but not least, obviously Victor women Yama,
• 32:40
Speaker 3: who might already be the most unique, fascinating young player
• 32:45
Speaker 3: since maybe Lebron. Just you know, a guy that's seven
• 32:48
Speaker 3: foot four can do everything. Not to mention, he plays
• 32:52
Speaker 3: a lot of defense. He blocks shots you don't even
• 32:54
Speaker 3: and you go to the paint. You're looking around like, yeah,
• 32:57
Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to dribble this out because he is
• 32:59
Speaker 3: in there. So we're looking at it. I just named
• 33:01
Speaker 3: you what four players that are taking the helm. They're
• 33:08
Speaker 3: showcasing a new era of basketball, and the old guys
• 33:12
Speaker 3: they matter. But Steph Curry is he's still popular. Lebron
• 33:16
Speaker 3: He's still is Lebron, and then KD He's always in
• 33:20
Speaker 3: the conversation, so that's discourse. But I think the key
• 33:23
Speaker 3: difference is the NBA is not looking around like damn,
• 33:27
Speaker 3: we need one superstar. I just na that are all
• 33:30
Speaker 3: in the playoff. Well three not mentioned Anthey Edwards because
• 33:33
Speaker 3: he's out, but there are three that are in the
• 33:34
Speaker 3: playoffs right now that are showing up each and every
• 33:36
Speaker 3: night and playing basketball at a high level. So I
• 33:39
Speaker 3: think that's a really good sign for the league moving forward.
• 33:42
Speaker 3: Because the questions were were after Steph Curry and Lebron.
• 33:46
Speaker 3: What's next for the league?
• 33:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it felt like they were searching
• 33:49
  Speaker 2: for a super.
• 33:50
Speaker 3: Sear Yeah, and now I think you're getting it on
• 33:52
Speaker 3: the big stage, and Eastern Conference and Western Conference are
• 33:55
Speaker 3: seeing Okay, there are some guys that can carry the
• 34:00
Speaker 3: mantle of the next generation of hoops for the next
• 34:03
Speaker 3: ten to twelve years. And who knows, there might be
• 34:05
Speaker 3: another kid that pops in in the next few seasons.
• 34:08
Speaker 3: But right now, those four guys I think are the
• 34:12
Speaker 3: new Like, ooh, this is a superstar stardom right here.
• 34:15
Speaker 3: These guys are expected to win now, A, B, and C,
• 34:19
Speaker 3: you name it, and I think it's only gonna get better.
• 34:23
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 34:23
Speaker 1: It's interesting because I've seen a lot of people that'll text, oh, well,
• 34:27
Speaker 1: NBA is broken. Nobody watches the NBA anymore, And I
• 34:29
Speaker 1: think that's a lot of people here that are still
• 34:32
  Speaker 1: about the NBA.
• 34:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, ratings are up, so that's not factual. True. Yeah,
• 34:36
Speaker 3: you might not watch it. That's fine, that no one's
• 34:39
Speaker 3: gonna I can't be mad at people that don't want
• 34:41
Speaker 3: to watch that's fine.
• 34:43
Speaker 1: But if you are watching it, you are realizing. Yeah,
• 34:45
Speaker 1: everything you said, it is exciting. These young players are
• 34:47
Speaker 1: really fun. I watched Starting five on I think Netflix.
• 34:50
Speaker 3: It was oh yeah, that was interesting.
• 34:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's the you know, finding out more
• 34:54
Speaker 1: about SGA. I don't know how you can like that guy.
• 34:56
  Speaker 1: I mean, he's awesome.
• 34:57
Speaker 2: Anthony Edwards was in it. I mean I started.
• 35:00
Speaker 1: You know, it helped me so that when I watch
• 35:02
Speaker 1: I have these guys to cheer for, because now I
• 35:04
Speaker 1: kind of know a little bit more, which is helpful
• 35:06
Speaker 1: if you're a fringe fan like I am right now.
• 35:08
Speaker 1: And so really fun to watch that. And the playoffs
• 35:11
Speaker 1: so far have been for the most part exciting. I
• 35:14
Speaker 1: mean obviously Okay See playing you know, blowout games for theirs,
• 35:17
Speaker 1: but I think these finals in the Western and Eastern
• 35:20
Speaker 1: Conference are just going to be fantastic and I'm looking
• 35:22
Speaker 1: forward to another great game tonight.
• 35:24
Speaker 3: Between what I mentioned that the Tea Wolves lost to
• 35:31
Speaker 3: Okay see, but they lost to if I'm not mistaken,
• 35:33
Speaker 3: the Spurs, I think it was. But nonetheless, you got
• 35:38
Speaker 3: to see Anthony Evers taking on Victor wimbin Yama and
• 35:41
Speaker 3: Victor he did what he needed to do, yes, And
• 35:44
Speaker 3: that was a fun series, and now you're you're getting okay,
• 35:48
Speaker 3: see and the Spurs, and it's I think it's going
• 35:51
Speaker 3: probably six seven games. I hope it goes seven, But.
• 35:54
Speaker 2: Wouldn't we would be so lucky. That would be fun,
• 35:56
Speaker 2: That would be really fun.
• 35:58
Speaker 3: I know a lot of Sonic fans are like, please, okay,
• 36:00
Speaker 3: see lose, But regardless who wins, you're gonna get good basketball.
• 36:04
Speaker 3: You saw that in Game one. You're gonna see that tonight.
• 36:07
Speaker 3: And hopefully the Nicks show up in the first three
• 36:10
Speaker 3: quarters and don't show up. Oh yeah, we got seven
• 36:12
Speaker 3: minutes left. Let's make a big run here. Hopefully they
• 36:14
Speaker 3: can play better basketball through the whole entire forty eight minutes.
• 36:18
Speaker 3: But overall, it's been a fun postseason.
• 36:20
  Speaker 2: Yeah it has.
• 36:20
Speaker 1: I've been enjoying it so far, and hopefully we'll see
• 36:23
Speaker 1: a lot more fun games. Just we're gonna take a
• 36:26
Speaker 1: little break from Mariner's talk and just a reminder that
• 36:28
Speaker 1: the NFL is never.
• 36:30
Speaker 2: Far away from our minds.
• 36:32
Speaker 1: We're gonna talk some NFL with a special guest coming up.
• 36:35
Speaker 1: It's Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM.
