Speaker 5: Home Show at the coddloseem and Convention Center. Our good friend,
• 2:39
Speaker 5: we just called him our good friend John, we just
• 2:41
Speaker 5: called him Copy is here with us. How are you,
• 2:43
  Speaker 5: my friend?
• 2:43
Speaker 7: I'm doing great. How are you doing that?
• 2:45
  Speaker 8: Now?
• 2:45
  Speaker 6: I'm doing fine.
• 2:45
  Speaker 9: Now.
• 2:46
Speaker 6: For the record, what is your last name?
• 2:47
  Speaker 7: Koppashinsky?
• 2:48
Speaker 5: Koppyshinski. And that's why we call him Copy. But I
• 2:51
Speaker 5: appreciate you taking time out of your schedule to be
• 2:54
Speaker 5: here with us today. It's always a great time over
• 2:57
Speaker 5: the CODDLESEEUM and Convention Center now some facts and figures
• 3:00
Speaker 5: here Friday noon to eight, Saturday ten till eight Sunday
• 3:05
Speaker 5: eleven am until five pm. And as you've done in
• 3:09
Speaker 5: the past on Friday, and this is courtesy of the
• 3:12
Speaker 5: fine folks at the Window World, free lunch to the
• 3:15
Speaker 5: first one hundred ticket holders through the door.
• 3:18
  Speaker 6: That's pretty cool.
• 3:20
  Speaker 10: That's a tradition that I hope they keep. We've sponsored
• 3:24
Speaker 10: that a couple of times. I work for Builders First
• 3:25
Speaker 10: Source and we've done a few times. This year, we're
• 3:28
Speaker 10: doing the back sponsorship. But that's a really nice gesture.
• 3:31
Speaker 10: You know, the first one hundred people get to the
• 3:33
Speaker 10: show early, get you a lunch, come in, look around.
• 3:35
Speaker 5: And so we're going to kind of, you know, cover
• 3:38
Speaker 5: some things that are going to be there.
• 3:39
  Speaker 6: I understand that there's a.
• 3:42
Speaker 5: Kid's workshop going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday that's sponsored
• 3:45
Speaker 5: by eighty four Lumber.
• 3:45
Speaker 6: Talk about that kid's workshop, Well.
• 3:47
Speaker 10: I guess from what I'm hearing, they're going to be
• 3:49
Speaker 10: doing some bird houses that sort of stuff, which is
• 3:52
Speaker 10: really neat because it gives you the opportunity to come
• 3:55
Speaker 10: to the show and bring the entire family.
• 3:57
Speaker 7: Yeah, it's making an event out of it.
• 3:58
Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's I mean, this thing it's just you know,
• 4:01
Speaker 5: you hate to use the cliche, but it is true.
• 4:03
  Speaker 9: Man.
• 4:03
Speaker 6: It just gets bigger and better every year. This is
• 4:05
Speaker 6: the fifty fifty fifth year, for the fifty fifth and
• 4:08
Speaker 6: you have not been there for all of them.
• 4:09
Speaker 10: I have not, thankfully been there for a few, though,
• 4:12
Speaker 10: right have been there for a lot of them. Those
• 4:15
Speaker 10: that have been to the show in the past, you'll
• 4:17
Speaker 10: be surprised to see we have a different layout this year.
• 4:19
  Speaker 6: Talk about that.
• 4:20
  Speaker 10: I think it's a lot it's more free flowing. Always
• 4:23
Speaker 10: in the past, not that it was a bad thing,
• 4:24
Speaker 10: but you sort of felt like you were going up
• 4:26
Speaker 10: a road down a row. Now you can cross, you know,
• 4:29
Speaker 10: across the event. You don't have to walk up and
• 4:32
Speaker 10: down aisles anymore. There's more end cap displays, which is
• 4:36
Speaker 10: good for vendors. They can show better. I think better displays.
• 4:40
Speaker 10: The more in cap space you create, the more you
• 4:42
Speaker 10: can show because you get that three side effect.
• 4:44
Speaker 6: Instead of head on.
• 4:45
Speaker 5: It's almost like three D or some absolutely. Okay, so
• 4:49
Speaker 5: let's talk about some of the prizes. There's some really
• 4:52
Speaker 5: cool prizes being given away.
• 4:53
Speaker 10: Ferguson is sponsoring an appliance giveaway this year, so you
• 4:56
Speaker 10: get your choice of a G refrigerator, range or dishwasher
• 4:59
Speaker 10: or a war a Whirlpool laundry pair. That drawing will
• 5:02
Speaker 10: be at four pm. And just attending to show. Get
• 5:04
Speaker 10: you entered four pm Sunday, Sunday, just as you start
• 5:08
Speaker 10: to and you don't have to be present to win.
• 5:10
  Speaker 10: I'm presuming right.
• 5:11
  Speaker 7: I don't think you do.
• 5:11
Speaker 5: No, Okay, all right? And so you got that going
• 5:14
Speaker 5: on and again that's courtesy of Ferguson. Ferguson, Yes, Ferguson,
• 5:18
Speaker 5: And talk about the different exhibits. What are people going
• 5:20
Speaker 5: to see when they come there?
• 5:21
Speaker 10: Copy, Well, you're going to see everything from landscaping to roofing.
• 5:24
Speaker 10: The homish furniture folks are back roofs, gutters, lawn equipment,
• 5:29
Speaker 10: solar plumbing, HVAC. We've got I know Mountain State log
• 5:34
Speaker 10: Homes is going to be there this year. I saw
• 5:35
Speaker 10: they're setting up a booth. So anything you're going to need.
• 5:39
Speaker 10: I encourage folks if you come to the show, don't
• 5:42
Speaker 10: just come to look. If you've got some ideas, job
• 5:45
Speaker 10: them down on paper. You'll have folks there can talk
• 5:47
Speaker 10: to you about it. Bring your blueprints if you're doing
• 5:49
Speaker 10: a house, and maybe you can solve some some questions
• 5:53
Speaker 10: figure out what you want to do.
• 5:54
Speaker 5: And that's and and again that's a really good idea
• 5:57
Speaker 5: because I think especially a copy around this time time
• 6:00
Speaker 5: a year, that's when people after the winter we've had,
• 6:02
Speaker 5: you know, people had a lot of time maybe to
• 6:04
Speaker 5: look out their window and take a look at that
• 6:06
Speaker 5: back deck or take a look at you know, we
• 6:08
Speaker 5: want to add at another bathroom, or we want to
• 6:10
Speaker 5: do something to the to the yard or whatever. They
• 6:13
Speaker 5: got ideas. So if you've had that little notebook and
• 6:16
Speaker 5: I know I've done it in my house, you write
• 6:17
Speaker 5: things now, so we need to have this done. We
• 6:20
Speaker 5: need to get that done. Bring that notebook with you
• 6:22
Speaker 5: and bring the blueprints too.
• 6:24
  Speaker 7: Absolutely.
• 6:24
Speaker 10: I mean what's great about that is you get time
• 6:27
Speaker 10: face time with people that you can actually talk to them,
• 6:31
Speaker 10: bounce ideas off of each other. You know a lot
• 6:33
Speaker 10: of people can go online, you can make phone calls,
• 6:35
Speaker 10: but you can't beat the face, the one on one
• 6:38
  Speaker 10: interaction when you're doing a.
• 6:40
Speaker 5: Project and you're dealing with people that do this for
• 6:42
Speaker 5: a living primarily, so they're going to be experts on it.
• 6:45
Speaker 5: I mean, you know, they're not going to have to
• 6:47
Speaker 5: go look something up, you know, I mean if you
• 6:49
Speaker 5: talk to somebody that's uh, you know, let's just say
• 6:52
Speaker 5: portable buildings. These are portable buildings. This is what people
• 6:55
Speaker 5: do for a living. So they're going to be able
• 6:57
Speaker 5: to answer those questions. Looking along at your here, flooring,
• 7:00
Speaker 5: handyman services of all kinds. You mentioned the Amish furniture,
• 7:05
Speaker 5: home furnishing, cleaning services, mortgage services.
• 7:08
Speaker 6: A big part of it too.
• 7:09
Speaker 7: Talk there's several bankers there this year, which is really good.
• 7:12
Speaker 10: I know everyone's talking about interest rates and whatnot, but
• 7:15
Speaker 10: you know, talk talk to various lending institutions and see
• 7:18
Speaker 10: what plan fits best for your situation.
• 7:21
Speaker 5: Talking about the West Virginia Home Show, which is going
• 7:23
Speaker 5: to be at Kyloseema Convention Center this Friday through Sunday.
• 7:26
Speaker 5: Our friend Copy is with us the Dave Island Show
• 7:28
Speaker 5: on five Adye Line, brought to you in part by
• 7:30
Speaker 5: Bridge Valley offering custom tailored trainings is to supply skilled
• 7:34
Speaker 5: graduates and apprenticeships for your company.
• 7:35
Speaker 6: Visit Bridge Valley dot ed U. And you know when.
• 7:40
Speaker 5: We talk about I guess over the last few years.
• 7:43
Speaker 5: Copy with the advent of that you said, of the internet.
• 7:47
Speaker 5: Everything's on YouTube now. If you want to do flooring,
• 7:49
Speaker 5: you can look it up whatever. But it's probably probably
• 7:54
Speaker 5: lend itself to more and more people wanting to do
• 7:57
Speaker 5: things in their home now because they see these projects.
• 7:59
Speaker 5: You know, television to my in my home. My wife
• 8:01
Speaker 5: is big into HG TV and things like that. You
• 8:04
Speaker 5: watch these things and you're thinking, well, how hard would
• 8:07
Speaker 5: this to be to do? And you get this opportunity
• 8:10
Speaker 5: to talk to these people.
• 8:11
Speaker 7: Absolutely, you can actually touch the product the product.
• 8:14
Speaker 10: Take flooring, for example, there's several flooring displays there that
• 8:16
Speaker 10: I saw going up yesterday. Cabinetry, get get a feel for,
• 8:21
Speaker 10: you know, for what a slow closed door or a
• 8:23
Speaker 10: soft closed drawer is.
• 8:25
Speaker 7: You know, you can.
• 8:25
Speaker 10: Actually put your hands on it, touch it and fill
• 8:27
Speaker 10: it and ask the people who design those sort of
• 8:29
Speaker 10: things the questions. And it's not just home stuff. I mean,
• 8:33
Speaker 10: we've got a little bit of everything. One of the
• 8:35
Speaker 10: things I'm most excited about is the pickle guy is
• 8:37
Speaker 10: going to be back that that booth was full last year.
• 8:42
Speaker 7: I mean it was backed up.
• 8:43
  Speaker 3: Now.
• 8:43
Speaker 5: I wonder is this the same pickle folks that are
• 8:47
Speaker 5: at the hunting and fishon show, because if they are
• 8:50
Speaker 5: the same people, there's always a line.
• 8:53
Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean probably it's amazing that. I mean they
• 8:56
Speaker 10: move some, they move some cucumbers, see.
• 8:59
Speaker 6: People other pickles, man, people love their pickles.
• 9:01
  Speaker 11: Now.
• 9:01
Speaker 5: The admission price for adults is twelve dollars and seniors
• 9:07
Speaker 5: ten dollars, and those fifteen and under are admitted free.
• 9:10
Speaker 5: And again it's Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And I love
• 9:12
Speaker 5: this again, big shout out to window World. First one
• 9:14
Speaker 5: hundred people through the door Friday at noon, get free lunch.
• 9:18
Speaker 5: You know how to bring them in? Man, we try,
• 9:20
  Speaker 5: we try.
• 9:20
Speaker 10: You know, it's supposed to rain a little, so don't
• 9:22
Speaker 10: sit at home, yeah, you know, watching TV. Come out
• 9:26
Speaker 10: and see the show.
• 9:26
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 9:27
Speaker 5: I mean sometimes when you have as long as it's
• 9:29
Speaker 5: not too terribly stormy, as long as you and when
• 9:32
Speaker 5: you just have rain, it actually helps events like this
• 9:34
Speaker 5: sometimes because people this is the time of year. Most people,
• 9:37
Speaker 5: I would think at this point have probably already cut
• 9:40
Speaker 5: their lawn at least once most people have or started
• 9:43
Speaker 5: doing a little clean up outside. It's not going to
• 9:45
Speaker 5: be very conducive, I understand to doing that for most
• 9:48
Speaker 5: of the weekend, So it'd be a great opportunity to
• 9:50
  Speaker 5: come out.
• 9:50
Speaker 10: I tell you the whether we've had this winter, I'm
• 9:52
Speaker 10: sure people wanting to get out, So take the opportunity
• 9:55
  Speaker 10: come see us.
• 9:56
Speaker 5: You guys got a Facebook page? Is there something where
• 9:58
Speaker 5: people can learn more about.
• 9:59
Speaker 6: It if they want to?
• 10:00
Speaker 7: There is a home show website. Okay, the v homeshow
• 10:02
Speaker 7: dot com. I thanks.
• 10:04

Speaker 5: a kid shop at eighty four Lumber going on, plus

Speaker 5: later on. It is crossover day at the Legislature. Gonna
• 14:02
Speaker 5: spend a little time talking about some things under the dome.
• 14:05
Speaker 5: Today is an anniversary. If you'll recall, it was one
• 14:08
Speaker 5: year ago today that we had those hillacious storms that
• 14:12
Speaker 5: rolled through West Virginia. And we're not big on tornadoes
• 14:15
Speaker 5: in West Virginia, especially when you're in downtown Charleston, and
• 14:20
Speaker 5: it was a pretty scary, not only here but for
• 14:23
  Speaker 5: a lot.
• 14:23
  Speaker 6: Of West Virginia.
• 14:24
Speaker 5: We're gonna spend a little bit of time talking about
• 14:26
Speaker 5: that anniversary coming up a little bit later on the show.
• 14:28
Speaker 5: And oddly enough, it looks like we've got some severe weather,
• 14:30
Speaker 5: at least some heavy rain that'll roll through the area.
• 14:33
Speaker 5: Probably overnight tonight through Thursday, and many areas are under
• 14:37
Speaker 5: a floodwatch in West Virginia. So with everything we've battled
• 14:39
Speaker 5: with the weather, we certainly hope that we don't have
• 14:43
Speaker 5: to go through all that again. Today is Autism Awareness
• 14:47
Speaker 5: Day and Jill Scarborough of Brighter Futures Learning Center joins
• 14:51
Speaker 5: us right now to talk about Jill.
• 14:53
Speaker 6: Welcome to the show.
• 14:54
Speaker 14: Hey, thanks for having me back.
• 14:55
  Speaker 8: Dave.
• 14:56
Speaker 5: We've talked about this in the past, as you mentioned,
• 14:58
Speaker 5: I think Taylor was on the show with me last year,
• 15:01
Speaker 5: but this schirst time that you've I think been here
• 15:03
  Speaker 5: in persons.
• 15:04
Speaker 15: So yeah, I've done a couple of call ins, but yeah,
• 15:06
Speaker 15: I'm glad to be here in real life.
• 15:07
  Speaker 14: Person.
• 15:08
Speaker 6: Well, welcome to our new digs.
• 15:09
Speaker 14: It's pretty sweet, gig it is GIU.
• 15:12
Speaker 5: Moved like George and we right moved on up. Talk
• 15:16
Speaker 5: about your story? How did you get.
• 15:17
Speaker 6: Involved with this cause with autism?
• 15:21
Speaker 15: Long story, tried to make a little bit shorter. I
• 15:25
Speaker 15: when I was in first grade in Wyoming County, Baileysville,
• 15:29
Speaker 15: which I think we've got a little bit in common with.
• 15:31
Speaker 5: My family County Logan, but all my family is from
• 15:35
  Speaker 5: Wyoming County, so.
• 15:37
Speaker 15: I basically claimed just the bottom half of the state
• 15:39
Speaker 15: as home because my dad was in law enforcement and military,
• 15:43
Speaker 15: so we just did the tour of southern West Virginia.
• 15:45
Speaker 15: So but thank god, when I was in first grade
• 15:48
Speaker 15: and at Baileysville Elementary, I had an amazing teacher, Susie Blevins,
• 15:52
Speaker 15: who recognized something was up with me that I wasn't
• 15:55
Speaker 15: learning to read the way that you would expect and realized,
• 15:59
Speaker 15: you know, I'm dyslexi and later eighty D kind of brain.
• 16:02
Speaker 15: And thank god I have amazing parents that said, what
• 16:04
Speaker 15: do we do? Because can you imagine in nineteen eighty
• 16:06
Speaker 15: in Wyoming County what resources were available?
• 16:09
Speaker 14: Yeah? Nothing, basically still still it's today.
• 16:12
  Speaker 6: Well but that's a that's a very good point.
• 16:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, because back in those and you and I are
• 16:18
Speaker 5: roughly the same age, I guess because I was in
• 16:20
Speaker 5: grade school in nineteen eighty.
• 16:22
Speaker 6: So when we just and.
• 16:25
Speaker 5: I'm going to use some very very politically incorrect terms
• 16:27
Speaker 5: here because this was time, well this was this was
• 16:30
Speaker 5: that era. They would just say, oh, he or she
• 16:33
Speaker 5: is just slow, and we'll hold him back a year.
• 16:37
Speaker 6: And it's a little bit more complicated than that.
• 16:40
Speaker 15: It is, and at that time too, learning disabilities were
• 16:44
Speaker 15: like a new a new concept, right, and I part
• 16:46
Speaker 15: of what drives me. And we'll get back to your
• 16:48
Speaker 15: question of like how Bill you land up here? But
• 16:51
Speaker 15: as I evaluate, like I've, you know, since second grade,
• 16:55
Speaker 15: known the direction, but I wanted to go. And when
• 16:58
Speaker 15: I do the analysis of like what's my drive, it's
• 17:01
Speaker 15: because I remember being called retarded. It's because I remember, yeah,
• 17:05
Speaker 15: being pulled out and go into special leg classes. And
• 17:08
Speaker 15: I remember the stress that it put on my family
• 17:11
Speaker 15: that even then, literally my mom was blamed that it
• 17:15
Speaker 15: was that it was a it was a marital issue,
• 17:19
Speaker 15: that there were problems at home, was the reason I
• 17:22
Speaker 15: was having a hard time. And so can you imagine this,
• 17:24
Speaker 15: like my mom literally had a stroke. I remember my
• 17:27
Speaker 15: grandfather being scared to death. What does this mean for her?
• 17:31
Speaker 15: And so the impact that it had on my family
• 17:33
Speaker 15: again just going I'm just dyslexic. Right, It's not a
• 17:36
Speaker 15: significant and cognitive impairment. But I think me as a
• 17:40
Speaker 15: young child going, holy crap, the fact that I'm having
• 17:44
Speaker 15: a harder time learning, just reading, I can talk, I'm
• 17:48
Speaker 15: you know, all all of those things. It's not a
• 17:49
Speaker 15: significant impairment and the hurt that it caused and fear
• 17:54
Speaker 15: that it costs for my family. Is this thing that
• 17:57
Speaker 15: set my trajectory of going that. Then fast forward, what
• 18:00
Speaker 15: my incredible family did is said, well, what do we
• 18:02
Speaker 15: do to help her?
• 18:03
Speaker 14: And we moved back to Barbersville for a summer.
• 18:07
Speaker 15: My grandparents were there and at the time there was
• 18:09
Speaker 15: a psychologist in Huntington that was doing specialized reading instruction,
• 18:14
Speaker 15: and so I was able to go to intensive reading
• 18:16
Speaker 15: instruction at least for that summer, which was enough to
• 18:21
Speaker 15: give me the skills to then be in schools. My
• 18:23
Speaker 15: parents had to advocate for me to be in special education.
• 18:26
Speaker 15: I have the letters that my parents then wrote to
• 18:28
Speaker 15: the Wyoming school board because at that time too it
• 18:31
Speaker 15: was segregation, right. They well, we have the school for
• 18:35
Speaker 15: the retarded kids, and so Jill can go there. And
• 18:39
Speaker 15: my parents were like, in fact, no, that's not what's
• 18:41
Speaker 15: going to happen. And so again what led me here
• 18:44
Speaker 15: was that, so fast forward, I was then a special
• 18:48
Speaker 15: ed major at Marshall. Again since second grade, going I
• 18:51
Speaker 15: want to work with kids with learning disabilities and have
• 18:53
Speaker 15: a true impact and change trajectory. Didn't know exactly what
• 18:57
Speaker 15: that looked like. Was a special ed major at Marshall
• 18:59
Speaker 15: self life on the wall for a family recruiting college
• 19:03
Speaker 15: students to come in home and work with their children.
• 19:07
Speaker 15: They were then flying in experts from California to teach
• 19:11
Speaker 15: the parents how to do a plot behavior analysis ABA therapy.
• 19:15
Speaker 15: And so it was a mom recruiting college student to like, hey,
• 19:17
Speaker 15: come help my kid. And so that was my hook
• 19:20
Speaker 15: to then what is a plot behavior analysis? And that
• 19:23
Speaker 15: then became the direction of this is the thing that
• 19:26
Speaker 15: can be most impactful.
• 19:27
  Speaker 6: I'm talking to.
• 19:28
Speaker 5: Jill Scarborough again, So how does this all Jill relate
• 19:33
Speaker 5: to I mean, as I mentioned, today is autism Awareness date.
• 19:36
Speaker 5: And there are some distinct I think differences though between
• 19:40
Speaker 5: what you went through as a child and what is
• 19:44
Speaker 5: the classic diagnosis of autism. But there are there are similarities,
• 19:48
Speaker 5: differences and similarities at the center.
• 19:49
  Speaker 14: Both exactly right.
• 19:51
Speaker 15: That that's when we talk about like neurodiversity, right, which
• 19:53
Speaker 15: is a fancy word for being like, oh shocker, we're
• 19:55
  Speaker 15: all wired different.
• 19:57
Speaker 14: Newsflash, the SA sin right.
• 20:00
Speaker 15: And so when we're talking about me, I'm on, you know,
• 20:03
Speaker 15: I'm a dyslexic eighty D flavor. That means that my
• 20:05
Speaker 15: brain's wired in a certain way. That makes some things easier,
• 20:08
Speaker 15: something something's harder, but I need specialized intervention to help
• 20:11
  Speaker 15: me achieve.
• 20:13
  Speaker 11: Right.
• 20:13
Speaker 15: So for autism, it does a spectrum disorder there, you know,
• 20:18
Speaker 15: talk about you know, how do you diagnose it? It's
• 20:19
Speaker 15: three different levels and so to just put it in
• 20:22
Speaker 15: Layman's terms, right, level one is need some support, right,
• 20:27
Speaker 15: it is your funk, is your person that you may
• 20:30
Speaker 15: not really you may be like they're a little quirky,
• 20:33
Speaker 15: they're a little different, which let's count the people and
• 20:36
Speaker 15: we know that would classify under that.
• 20:39
Speaker 6: Honey, I've been in radio for thirty seven years.
• 20:41
  Speaker 14: I mean I'm not looking at a grave, but I'm
• 20:43
  Speaker 14: looking at you.
• 20:46
Speaker 15: Right of going like, yeah, social skills are a little
• 20:48
Speaker 15: bit different, like we have.
• 20:50
Speaker 6: Our non existence non existence or that.
• 20:52
Speaker 15: Right, we prefer to be in booths by ourselves.
• 20:55
Speaker 14: Oh no, just jokes that you got right.
• 21:00
Speaker 15: So level one is, yeah, some struggle with some social impairments.
• 21:05
Speaker 15: You know that that's the main area that maybe you
• 21:07
Speaker 15: need some supports in that area. Level two is you
• 21:11
Speaker 15: need more supports, and level three is you need significant supports.
• 21:14
Speaker 15: And so again it is every color and shade. It's
• 21:17
Speaker 15: why It's a spectrum, right, variations between what the needs
• 21:22
Speaker 15: are and how things might present. So, but what's common
• 21:27
Speaker 15: to my experience is lack of resources, parents being blamed,
• 21:33
Speaker 15: and support not being had. And don't discount me, right,
• 21:38
Speaker 15: don't call me retarded, don't other me because I have differences.
• 21:45
Speaker 15: And how about we look to go what are the
• 21:47
Speaker 15: things that I need to support me so that I
• 21:49
Speaker 15: can achieve to the degree that I am capable. That's
• 21:53
Speaker 15: those are the similarities I think for all humans. It's
• 21:56
Speaker 15: just autism is a specific flavor.
• 22:00
Speaker 5: We're talking to Jill Scarborough A Dave Allen showing five
• 22:02
Speaker 5: any line broad to you in part by Morgan to Morgan,
• 22:04
Speaker 5: America's largest injury law firm, if you're injured, visit for
• 22:07
Speaker 5: the people dot com.
• 22:08
  Speaker 6: I think that and again I'm a I'm a gen
• 22:12
  Speaker 6: X kid.
• 22:13
Speaker 5: You know, I remember people being segmented in grade school,
• 22:19
Speaker 5: in elementary school. You know that you had the room
• 22:22
Speaker 5: at the end of the hall, and even in some
• 22:24
Speaker 5: cases we had in my county, we actually had a.
• 22:29
Speaker 6: As you said, completely separate.
• 22:33
Speaker 5: When this was this was actually the school at the
• 22:36
Speaker 5: time where I grew up was an old segregated black
• 22:39
Speaker 5: high school that they had that they had closed when
• 22:42
Speaker 5: when segregation came to an end in the nineteen fifties,
• 22:44
Speaker 5: and they kept the building there and they had done
• 22:46
Speaker 5: very little, they had done very little to it since
• 22:50
Speaker 5: that time when it was opened up in I guess
• 22:52
Speaker 5: the sixties or seventies or whatever. Yeah, well that's another
• 22:55
Speaker 5: story for another time. But I think a lot of us,
• 22:59
Speaker 5: you know, what we've learned over the years is that
• 23:05
Speaker 5: it's not always black and white.
• 23:07
Speaker 6: No, what I was just talking about.
• 23:09
Speaker 5: Right, it's never black and white, it's uh, and that's
• 23:11
Speaker 5: there's and that there's variations of things and people and uh.
• 23:15
Speaker 5: And that leads me to talk about your business. Brighter
• 23:17
Speaker 5: Futures talk about that a little bit.
• 23:19
Speaker 15: So there's a couple of things. So Bright Futures Learning
• 23:21
Speaker 15: Services we are one of the few ABA providers in
• 23:25
Speaker 15: the state which go when we're in Putnam County. So
• 23:28
Speaker 15: let me talk real kind of quickly ish about what
• 23:32
  Speaker 15: a BA is.
• 23:33
  Speaker 14: That it is.
• 23:35
Speaker 15: Behavior science used to help whatever problem we want to
• 23:40
Speaker 15: pay attention to, to help the world be a better place.
• 23:42
Speaker 15: Is the overall broad thing that Bright Futures we specifically,
• 23:47
Speaker 15: you know, specialize in autism. That when what we know
• 23:50
Speaker 15: from an evidence base, if we are able to intervene early.
• 23:54
Speaker 15: So if we get kids three and younger and do
• 23:58
Speaker 15: intensive intervention and we're trained really well to do what
• 24:01
Speaker 15: we're doing, half the kids make so much progress that
• 24:04
Speaker 15: they're able to transition into schools without needing additional supports
• 24:08
Speaker 15: or very few additional supports. And the other half of kids,
• 24:11
Speaker 15: again autism a spectrum disorder. And so some kids, yes,
• 24:15
Speaker 15: absolutely will need lifelong care. They are significantly disabled and
• 24:19
Speaker 15: will need you know, services for their lifetime. But that
• 24:22
Speaker 15: group of kids makes significant progress and you know, have
• 24:26
Speaker 15: a overall high quality of life. They can communicate, they
• 24:28
Speaker 15: can you know, function at a you know, more independent level,
• 24:32
Speaker 15: that sort of thing. But in the state, in West Virginia,
• 24:36
Speaker 15: less than four percent of kids have access to what
• 24:38
Speaker 15: doctors say, here's your best shot.
• 24:41
Speaker 14: So and we've got.
• 24:42
Speaker 15: About ten thousand kids on the autism spectrum in West
• 24:46
Speaker 15: Virginia and our best math last year was only around
• 24:50
Speaker 15: four hundred kids in the state had access to that.
• 24:52
Speaker 5: And you mentioned where you're located in Putnam County, Putnam County,
• 24:56
Speaker 5: Knawa County. These counties are on a whole different level
• 25:00
Speaker 5: as far as service is like your is being offered
• 25:02
Speaker 5: than say McDowell County, right, And I'm just using that.
• 25:04
Speaker 14: As oh yeah, no, fact, there's nothing.
• 25:06
Speaker 15: There's nothing there like the southern part of the state,
• 25:08
Speaker 15: there's there's functionally nothing. There is an ABA center in
• 25:12
Speaker 15: Beckley that I've got some friends from Wyoming County that
• 25:14
Speaker 15: they did a story a couple of weeks ago about yeah,
• 25:18
Speaker 15: and from Baileysville driving you know, to Beckley.
• 25:20
Speaker 14: At least there's something in Beckley. But the hub of
• 25:24
Speaker 14: we are in in the.
• 25:25
Speaker 15: Knaw Valley, the place where there is the most services.
• 25:28
Speaker 15: There's a handful of us in between Charleston and Huntington,
• 25:31
Speaker 15: but we all have it's not even weight list, it's
• 25:34
Speaker 15: you pray you get the golden ticket and your kid
• 25:36
Speaker 15: gets end list and so going. We're in the most
• 25:38
Speaker 15: populated area of the state within the valley, but still
• 25:43
Speaker 15: our weight lists are never ending. And so it's one
• 25:47
Speaker 15: of the things that I'm excited about. And fast forward
• 25:50
Speaker 15: a little bit because Bright Futures has the never ending
• 25:53
Speaker 15: wait list. And in response to a tragedy of a
• 25:58
Speaker 15: mom who kept calling and calling for help for her
• 26:00
Speaker 15: two kids on the spectrum and didn't get it got
• 26:04
Speaker 15: at her breaking point and shot herself and both of
• 26:08
Speaker 15: her two children. And the story of that, and the
• 26:12
Speaker 15: response from our families was mostly that could be me,
• 26:17
Speaker 15: I get it right, and so from right futures. We
• 26:20
Speaker 15: then said what can we do for outreach? And we
• 26:22
Speaker 15: started then our nonprofit Community Autism Resources and Education Systems
• 26:26
Speaker 15: CARES to then go, Okay, what do we do to
• 26:28
Speaker 15: create a lifeline literally for families to connect them so
• 26:32
Speaker 15: they're not so isolated, while we then work towards what
• 26:36
Speaker 15: are the bigger systems.
• 26:37
Speaker 14: Level changes that need to happen.
• 26:39
Speaker 15: In order for families and kids to get the services
• 26:41
  Speaker 15: that they need.
• 26:42
Speaker 5: And I would imagine, much like Jill, with a lot
• 26:45
Speaker 5: of other diagnosises or whatever there are, you think you're
• 26:49
Speaker 5: the only one as a parent.
• 26:51
Speaker 6: You think I am the only parent that is going
• 26:54
  Speaker 6: through this.
• 26:55
Speaker 5: You, as a young lady in Wyoming County, probably thought
• 26:57
Speaker 5: I'm the only one that's like this. And sometimes when
• 27:00
Speaker 5: you get people around, other people, another mom, another dad,
• 27:04
Speaker 5: another young Jill saying hey, I've gone through that, I'm
• 27:09
Speaker 5: dealing with the same thing that you are. It can
• 27:10
Speaker 5: be it can be very very helpful.
• 27:12
Speaker 15: It is it's peer to peer family to family. You
• 27:15
Speaker 15: only know what if you're walking the walk, and so
• 27:17
Speaker 15: to be able to get families together in a place
• 27:20
Speaker 15: that is you know, judgment free, like, hey, it's okay
• 27:22
Speaker 15: if your kid has a melt down, you're gonna be
• 27:24
Speaker 15: met with support and like, I get it, my kid
• 27:26
Speaker 15: does that too, rather than the side eye and judgment
• 27:28
Speaker 15: that you typically get. If you're in the grocery store
• 27:30
Speaker 15: and somebody sees your kid flatling on the floor, you get, well,
• 27:35
Speaker 15: I just what to spank them? Right?
• 27:37
  Speaker 14: People don't understand.
• 27:39
  Speaker 5: So yeah, there's probably a there's probably a very I mean,
• 27:43
Speaker 5: obviously there's a very big difference between a two year
• 27:46
Speaker 5: old being a two year old.
• 27:47
Speaker 6: You know, at what age do.
• 27:50
Speaker 5: Parents should should parents that are around their kids look
• 27:54
Speaker 5: at it and say, well, maybe something's not quite right here,
• 27:57
Speaker 5: and what are the signs?
• 27:59
Speaker 15: So as here's my best advice is, mom's trust your
• 28:02
Speaker 15: guts full stop. If Mama, your spidy senses are going,
• 28:07
Speaker 15: something's a little bit different. I don't know what it is,
• 28:10
Speaker 15: but something's telling me I need to I need to
• 28:13
Speaker 15: ask questions, right, And so it's with really trained, you know,
• 28:18
Speaker 15: trained folks, the indicators that are there as early as
• 28:21
Speaker 15: six months, sometimes a year, definitely there by a year,
• 28:25
Speaker 15: and when they become really pronounced is typically at two
• 28:28
Speaker 15: years when kids aren't talking. But the indicators that for parents,
• 28:31
Speaker 15: what can you look at and be like, hmm, that's different?
• 28:35
Speaker 14: Is one eye contact? Is you know, are your.
• 28:39
Speaker 15: Kids and your babies looking at you in the face
• 28:43
  Speaker 15: and enjoying peekaboo?
• 28:44
Speaker 14: And are they like engaging like oh, I'm looking at.
• 28:47
Speaker 15: Your face, you're looking at mine, and we're reading and
• 28:48
Speaker 15: responding to each other. Or is your child more just
• 28:52
Speaker 15: focusing on toys and small items? Right, So if you
• 28:55
Speaker 15: put a toy in front of them, do they engage
• 28:59
Speaker 15: with the toy and then look at you to be like, hey,
• 29:01
Speaker 15: do you see that, that's cool? Check this out with me.
• 29:03
Speaker 15: It's called social referencing. Or do they mostly just really
• 29:07
Speaker 15: look intently at that thing and don't want you to
• 29:10
Speaker 15: engage with them. So that's one of the early signs.
• 29:15
Speaker 15: And then vocalizations and communication. Does your child naturally follow
• 29:20
Speaker 15: your point or do they point out things to request things?
• 29:23
Speaker 15: If they don't do that, that's definitely an early indicator
• 29:26
Speaker 15: that you one hundred percent should ask your doctor like, hey,
• 29:30
Speaker 15: I'm seeing some indicators here and don't don't be afraid
• 29:33
Speaker 15: to push because here is the majority of families even
• 29:36
Speaker 15: after they get a diagnosis late until like three or four.
• 29:39
Speaker 15: But mom knew something was up at twelve months. That
• 29:43
Speaker 15: what doctors typically will tell moms is let's wait and see.
• 29:48
  Speaker 14: He's a boy.
• 29:49
Speaker 15: He boys generally developed more slowly than girls do. And again,
• 29:55
Speaker 15: just take a feme.
• 29:56
Speaker 6: That doesn't change in adulthood, right, I mean, I'm not saying.
• 30:01
Speaker 15: Sorry, yeah, but it is like parents, don't be a
• 30:04
Speaker 15: praid to press. You will never regret being proactive and
• 30:08
Speaker 15: being like, wow, I'm glad early I was like something's up,
• 30:11
Speaker 15: because again, if you let's stay fast forward you do
• 30:13
Speaker 15: get a diagnosis, then you're stuck at the naverating wait lists.
• 30:17
Speaker 15: So be like, as soon as your spidy senses are
• 30:20
Speaker 15: like something's going on, talk to your doctor and push
• 30:22
Speaker 15: for Hey, let's just do an assessment and let's find out.
• 30:25
Speaker 15: You'll never regret that, but you could absolutely regret going
• 30:28
Speaker 15: I knew, but I ignored ignored it.
• 30:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, but Dave Alan showing five eighty Live is brought
• 30:33

• 30:45
  Speaker 9: Let me.
• 30:45
Speaker 5: We're starting to run out of time here and I
• 30:47
Speaker 5: got a few texts I want to get to text
• 30:48
Speaker 5: for you. People will see what questions and comments whatever
• 30:51
Speaker 5: talk about our public schools, how good or bad of
• 30:54
Speaker 5: a job, or just doing the best that they can do.
• 30:57
Speaker 5: Our public schools in West Virginia do with this God love.
• 31:00
Speaker 14: And they're trying to survive.
• 31:02
  Speaker 9: Right.
• 31:03
Speaker 15: And I come from a teacher in my family. You're
• 31:06
Speaker 15: either some sort of educator or law enforcement or military.
• 31:08
  Speaker 13: Right.
• 31:08
Speaker 15: So when I talk about this that I got zero
• 31:11
Speaker 15: beef with teachers, I got nothing but love for good teachers.
• 31:14
Speaker 14: I got beef with bad teachers that abuse children. That
• 31:17
  Speaker 14: which happens.
• 31:20
Speaker 15: But it is no secret that West Virginia schools are,
• 31:22
Speaker 15: you know, for typically developing children. We're ranked last in
• 31:26
Speaker 15: the state and are struggling to keep teachers and or
• 31:30
Speaker 15: struggling with behavior challenges. So imagine the struggle that our
• 31:33
Speaker 15: special education system and our kids with the most significant needs.
• 31:37
Speaker 15: Imagine the struggle that they're facing. And bottom line is
• 31:40
Speaker 15: there are not enough resources. It's there's not enough programs
• 31:44
Speaker 15: like Bright Futures that really is designed to help. And
• 31:49
Speaker 15: so that's part of what we're working on. It Cares
• 31:55
Speaker 15: is some things to change that. And now it Cares
• 31:59
Speaker 15: has been you know, we've done a good jobs for
• 32:00
Speaker 15: the last seven years of being that lifeline for families
• 32:04
Speaker 15: and now we're working towards a big project for a
• 32:07
Speaker 15: systems level change. And it all comes back to, well,
• 32:09
Speaker 15: we have to train people how to do this.
• 32:12
Speaker 6: Let me read a couple of texts here.
• 32:14
Speaker 5: If we let you go Texas, Dave, you need to
• 32:16
Speaker 5: have Jill on every week to discuss this reality that
• 32:20
Speaker 5: thousands of kids and their families face around the state
• 32:22
Speaker 5: every day. And it's not just an educational issue, but
• 32:24
  Speaker 5: a healthcare issue.
• 32:26
  Speaker 6: My daughter was.
• 32:26
Speaker 5: Told at eight that she just needed to be on
• 32:29
Speaker 5: a diabetic diet and that would fix her. Thank god
• 32:31
Speaker 5: she found help out of state, because she wouldn't have
• 32:33
Speaker 5: blossomed into the young woman she is today. We need
• 32:36
Speaker 5: much better health care and educational opportunities for these kids
• 32:39
Speaker 5: because there will be more coming, says a texture text.
• 32:43
Speaker 5: A question what your figure about four percent? They said
• 32:46
Speaker 5: less than four percent? Question mark followed by exclamation points
• 32:49
Speaker 5: explain that four percent again.
• 32:50
Speaker 15: So it's the four percent of children on the spectrum,
• 32:54
Speaker 15: so age eighteen and below, that have access to applied
• 32:58
Speaker 15: behavior analysis. And the way we define that was, you know,
• 33:02
Speaker 15: are they seen in some and we're looking at medical model,
• 33:06
Speaker 15: not education because to the previous person's point, there are
• 33:08
Speaker 15: two separate things. There's education and there's healthcare, and so
• 33:11
Speaker 15: our model is a medical model. That we said how
• 33:14
Speaker 15: many we basically there's only you know, about one hundred
• 33:17
Speaker 15: behavior analysts in the state's board certified Behavior analysts. That's
• 33:20
Speaker 15: the person that it's appropriately credential to do avia therapy.
• 33:24
Speaker 15: So we called each other and really, how many kids
• 33:26
Speaker 15: you got on your caseload? And so the rough math
• 33:29
Speaker 15: was around eight hundred or sorry, around four hundred out
• 33:32
Speaker 15: of approximately low estimates ten thousand kids in the state
• 33:35
  Speaker 15: on the spectrum.
• 33:36
Speaker 14: So that's where that number comes from.
• 33:38
Speaker 6: Final text says, Jill's one of the best guests you've ever.
• 33:40
Speaker 14: Had on Who's that I'm going to send them a paycheck.
• 33:44
Speaker 5: Thanks mom, Jill, I appreciate you being here. Give us
• 33:47
Speaker 5: your contact information for your facility or for anything you've
• 33:51
  Speaker 5: your time.

• 34:11
Speaker 15: Is this being Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. Our big
• 34:14
Speaker 15: event is Neon Night over at the ballpark. We're doing
• 34:18
Speaker 15: some cool stuff with the dirty Birds over there, and
• 34:20
Speaker 15: so that is just our community celebration for Autism Acceptance
• 34:24
Speaker 15: Month April eighteenth. Then we got a five K here
• 34:26
Speaker 15: in Charleston on the nineteenth that a mom and a
• 34:31
Speaker 15: young woman on the spectrum initiated that and said we
• 34:33
Speaker 15: want to do something in our community, so initiated a
• 34:36
Speaker 15: five K. And then our big one is June seventh,
• 34:40
Speaker 15: which we need to talk about later is CARES Sensory
• 34:43
Speaker 15: Circus that we turn Valley Park into a whole sensory
• 34:46
Speaker 15: experience and so that's a super cool one. So we
• 34:48
Speaker 15: got lots of things coming up and services that CARES
• 34:52
Speaker 15: can help create those lifelines.
• 34:53
Speaker 14: We have lots of programming and we want to.
• 34:55
Speaker 5: Help all right, Jill Bell, leave it there. I appreciate
• 34:57
Speaker 5: you being here, We'll have you on to talk about
• 35:00
Speaker 5: those events. I think it's really great. But you're working
• 35:01
Speaker 5: with the folks over with the over the Dirty Birds too,
• 35:03
Speaker 5: and they're a sponsor of the show, so we'll try
• 35:06
Speaker 5: to have you on to talk about that in your
• 35:07
Speaker 5: big event coming up in June of Valley Park as well.

Speaker 5: It was one year ago today that we had a
• 40:10
Speaker 5: weather event in the state that quite frankly, we haven't
• 40:13
Speaker 5: seen a lot of an outbreak of tornadoes throughout the state.
• 40:17
Speaker 6: We certainly had some damage.
• 40:18
Speaker 5: Here and as I said earlier, in all of all
• 40:21
Speaker 5: places downtown Charleston. And I've told the story before about
• 40:25
Speaker 5: being in the upstairs office of Rob Reel from our
• 40:29
Speaker 5: sister station ninety six to one KWS, doing what radio
• 40:31
Speaker 5: guys do when we're not on the air, goofing off
• 40:33
Speaker 5: and telling off colored jokes. And we knew that there
• 40:37
Speaker 5: was a possibility of severe weather, but I mean, let's
• 40:40
Speaker 5: face it, it's West Virginia, and that we do have
• 40:42
Speaker 5: our share of flooding, but normally that's about as much
• 40:45
Speaker 5: as as we have. Well that wasn't the case that
• 40:49
Speaker 5: particular day. And Rob and I were up in his
• 40:52
Speaker 5: office just talking and carrying on like we do and
• 40:55
Speaker 5: kind of keeping an eye on the sky. And then Rob,
• 40:57
Speaker 5: who was from Indiana, looked at me seriously. If you
• 41:01
Speaker 5: know Rob real, he's never serious about anything. He looked
• 41:03
Speaker 5: at me and said, we need to get to the basement.
• 41:06
Speaker 5: And Rob is from Indiana, flat Landia, as my friend
• 41:09
Speaker 5: Kathy who lives in Indiana calls it. And when Rob
• 41:13
Speaker 5: said it's time to get to the basement, you get
• 41:15
Speaker 5: yourself to the basement. Of course, it wasn't nearly as
• 41:18
Speaker 5: bad here as what it was elsewhere. Chris Lawrence is
• 41:21
Speaker 5: a story posted this morning wv metronews dot com about
• 41:24
Speaker 5: the community of La Vista in Fayette County where even
• 41:28
Speaker 5: to this day, they're trying to recover. The day itself
• 41:32
Speaker 5: was a record day in the Mountain state with tornadoes
• 41:35
Speaker 5: and microburst, several confirmed touchdowns, including that community of La
• 41:39
Speaker 5: Vista in Fayette County that was an e F two.
• 41:42
Speaker 5: It knocked out several homes and a gas station in
• 41:45
Speaker 5: that community, which is on Route sixty there between Hiko
• 41:50
Speaker 5: and Lookouts. Chris went back and talked to one of
• 41:53
Speaker 5: the victims, and he has her story and the recovery
• 41:56
Speaker 5: efforts of where they are now one year later, and
• 41:59
Speaker 5: you can check that out at w metro news dot com.
• 42:02
Speaker 5: And I understand that we're actually going to bring Chris

Speaker 5: it is crossover day at the Legislature and one bill
• 44:52
Speaker 5: that caught my attention yesterday was HB thirty one fifty four,
• 44:56
Speaker 5: and it was a bill that would let lie retailers advertise.
• 45:02
Speaker 5: Now we're not talking about places that sell powerball tickets.
• 45:05
Speaker 6: Or any things like that.
• 45:05
Speaker 5: We're talking about places that offer what's known as limited
• 45:10
Speaker 5: video lottery. You know your quote unquote machine places, and
• 45:13
Speaker 5: you know them. They all have names like Charlie's or
• 45:16
Speaker 5: Bill's or Lola's kind of nondescript, but a lot of
• 45:20
Speaker 5: people may not have known exactly if you don't play
• 45:23
Speaker 5: what it is that they do. I'm not a player myself,
• 45:27
Speaker 5: but this lot or this bill that was out there
• 45:29
Speaker 5: would have allowed them to advertise, and that got shut down.
• 45:34
Speaker 5: And to be honest, just me, I don't understand why.
• 45:41
Speaker 5: I mean, we're talking about legal businesses here, and I
• 45:46
Speaker 5: am not sure why legal businesses of any kind cannot advertise.
• 45:52
Speaker 5: And if you think about places like casinos like a
• 45:55
Speaker 5: Mardi Gras here, maybe the one up in Wheeling, they're
• 45:57
Speaker 5: allowed to advertise as well, they'd be allowed to advertise,
• 46:01
Speaker 5: no hate toward them at all, but these so called
• 46:05
Speaker 5: video lottery places cannot, and I mean, in my eyes,
• 46:10
Speaker 5: it's just not fair. Delegate Jim Butler, Republican for Mason County,
• 46:17
Speaker 5: was one of the ones who spoke out against it,
• 46:18
Speaker 5: and I know Jim very well, considered Jim to be
• 46:20
Speaker 5: a friend, nothing personal, but he was paraphrasing here saying
• 46:25
Speaker 5: that the discussion here was about two different kinds of businesses.
• 46:27
Speaker 5: He argued that places like Marty Grass bring in out
• 46:31
Speaker 5: of state residents who are very often wealthy, and the
• 46:36
Speaker 5: limited lottery places were in hard working state citizens.
• 46:39
Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, I don't know about that completely.
• 46:44
Speaker 5: To be honest with you, I guess my problem with
• 46:47
  Speaker 5: and again, I don't I'm not a gambler. I don't
• 46:49
Speaker 5: play the machines. I don't understand how the government can
• 46:53
Speaker 5: look at a legal business in West Virginia and tell
• 46:56
Speaker 5: them they can't advertise. It's not unprecedented though. I mean
• 47:00
Speaker 5: for years in West Virginia you weren't even allowed to
• 47:02
Speaker 5: advertise alcohol prices. Even in your newspaper. You couldn't say,
• 47:06
Speaker 5: or on the radio. You couldn't say from your local
• 47:09
Speaker 5: convenience store that they've got blood light six packs price
• 47:11
Speaker 5: at X amount of dollars. I mean, to me, it's
• 47:15
Speaker 5: really kind of silly. And Delegate Buck Jennings out of
• 47:19
Speaker 5: Preston County also spoke out against them, but not all
• 47:22
Speaker 5: Republicans were against it, though, And big props to Delegate
• 47:26
Speaker 5: Marty Gearhart, Republican from the southern part of the state,
• 47:30
Speaker 5: who called places like these the little guys and said
• 47:34
Speaker 5: they should have the same rights as the big casinos.
• 47:40
  Speaker 2: And I.
• 47:42
  Speaker 6: Agree with that.
• 47:43
Speaker 5: I am just not a fan of government telling legal
• 47:49
Speaker 5: businesses that they can or cannot advertise. And aren't Republicans
• 47:57
Speaker 5: supposed to be the party of smaller government?
• 48:00
Speaker 6: Isn't that what we want?
• 48:02
Speaker 5: And it seems like that, especially this session, and I've
• 48:07
Speaker 5: talked about it before that they've kind of gotten away
• 48:09
Speaker 5: from that. And again, I'm I'm a free market guy,
• 48:15
Speaker 5: and I think if it's a legal business, you should
• 48:18
Speaker 5: be able to advertise it. But that's just me, Tex
• 48:23
Speaker 5: says Dave Florida Rob here. Any kind of gambling is
• 48:26
  Speaker 5: a tax on the stupid. Say's a text. That's that
• 48:29
Speaker 5: Textra's opinion. Uh, Dave, this is the day I freeze
• 48:32
Speaker 5: my stocks and will not be buying cars or appliance
• 48:34
Speaker 5: to save your money going to need it.
• 48:36
Speaker 6: It's a sad day in America.
• 48:38
  Speaker 7: Okay.
• 48:39
Speaker 6: Uh let me see.
• 48:44
Speaker 5: Delegate Vernon Chris should hang his head in shame for
• 48:47
Speaker 5: introducing the lottery advertising bill. It's very harmful to poor people.
• 48:50
Speaker 5: Well that's a little poor shaming there. I mean that
• 48:52
Speaker 5: you know that you think that people aren't smart enough
• 48:55
Speaker 5: to make their own decisions. Tex says on this crossover day,
• 48:59
Speaker 5: I'd like to think the legislature thank you for the
• 49:01
Speaker 5: increase in insurance cost and due to no race. Thanks
• 49:03
Speaker 5: for the wage decrease. I guess I understand with all
• 49:06
Speaker 5: the other important business that was taking care of this session.
• 49:10
Speaker 5: Let's go live to the Capitol now and speak to
• 49:12
Speaker 5: mister Wilson and mister Meadows or one or the other.
• 49:15
Speaker 6: Good morning, gentlemen, Good morning, Good morning Dave. I got
• 49:19
Speaker 6: both of you today. Man, how cool is that I'm
• 49:21
Speaker 6: not up running my jaws and talking so I actually
• 49:23
Speaker 6: sat down today. You're so shy, TJ. I know, I
• 49:26
Speaker 6: got a problem with that I'm working on.
• 49:28
Speaker 5: By the way, to the texture that asked me if
• 49:30
Speaker 5: I was wearing the Kid Rock outfit that he had
• 49:32
Speaker 5: on at the White House when he was there with
• 49:34
Speaker 5: President Trump of the day, I joked about it on
• 49:36
Speaker 5: social media and said that I told Amanda that I
• 49:39
Speaker 5: was going to be wearing the outfit today.
• 49:41
Speaker 6: Sorry, I do not have the Kid Rock outfit on today.
• 49:46
Speaker 8: Trying to picture that.
• 49:48
  Speaker 6: It's not a pretty site. It's not a pretty site.
• 49:52
Speaker 6: Did you hear my rant there? TJ?
• 49:54
Speaker 5: I know you're a free market kind of guy about
• 49:56
Speaker 5: that particular lottery bill.
• 49:57
Speaker 6: What do you think? Well, I mean, do you guys
• 49:58
Speaker 6: agree or disagree? Where were you?
• 50:01
Speaker 20: So? Here's where I'm at on it. If one can advertise,
• 50:04
Speaker 20: the other ought to be able to advertise. It's as
• 50:06
Speaker 20: simple as that. Otherwise I think we're picking winners and losers.
• 50:10
Speaker 20: That may be a simplistic view, but I don't see
• 50:12
Speaker 20: the difference between the advertising draft kings and advertising.
• 50:14
  Speaker 8: Limited video lottery.
• 50:15
Speaker 6: That's mean will similar about you? Or do you want
• 50:18
Speaker 6: to give it a pen? You don't have to give
• 50:19
  Speaker 6: it a penny.
• 50:19
Speaker 8: I've ban it all if it's fun.
• 50:22
  Speaker 6: But that's consistent, it's gone. I mean it's consistent.
• 50:25
Speaker 8: How is how does gambling benefits society?
• 50:29
  Speaker 11: How?
• 50:30
Speaker 8: How does that profession benefit society?
• 50:32
Speaker 5: So you're going to be the one the arbitr of
• 50:34
Speaker 5: what benefits society in the legal to the arbitrar.
• 50:37
Speaker 8: But I'm asking you what is the positive impact of money?
• 50:40
  Speaker 9: And for money?
• 50:41
Speaker 21: Money, money, money, money and money is the root of
• 50:44
Speaker 21: what uh from the love of money is the root
• 50:46
Speaker 21: of what we get it right?
• 50:47
Speaker 6: The love the love of money is the root of
• 50:49
  Speaker 6: all happiness.
• 50:51
Speaker 9: You look it up.
• 50:51
Speaker 6: The love of money but not money, the love of
• 50:55
Speaker 6: money but not money.
• 50:56
  Speaker 8: It's because it's a way to generate revenue. It doesn't
• 50:59
Speaker 8: make it the best way. I mean you could legalize everything.
• 51:02
Speaker 8: Well you could, if you can generate revenue off of it,
• 51:05
Speaker 8: doesn't make it the right thing to do.
• 51:08
Speaker 21: There's a table right here that says if you have
• 51:10
Speaker 21: a gambling problem, call It's right in front of us.
• 51:13
Speaker 8: And now we're going to advertise the world. Hey, come here, yep.
• 51:17
Speaker 8: One probably won't get wroth, but I'm not.
• 51:19
Speaker 20: Hearing you say that if DraftKings can do it, the
• 51:21
Speaker 20: others ought to be able to do it.
• 51:22
Speaker 6: You said you'd ban it all.
• 51:23
  Speaker 8: I think that's consistent. I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I wouldn't
• 51:27
Speaker 8: open the door anymore.
• 51:28
Speaker 5: All right, all right, guys, what are you guys going
• 51:31
Speaker 5: to talk about today? Other than arguing with me? Uh?
• 51:34
Speaker 21: Well, you know that's so much fun. But h House
