- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: So I was going to start to show by the way with a laundry list of topics that were not Dolphins Steelers, just to mess with one particular listener that hit up Simon this week because we were talking too much college football.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: But that's me because I like to troll individual listeners.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_03]: But now we will be heavily
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: intensive dolphin intensive in this podcast we will talk dolphin dealers throughout we will get Chris on to talk about when the dolphins have the football to start the game and in the second half we will talk about when they're on defense but first let me tell you about our store

- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, you want to talk a transfer portal and the top prospects in there?
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_03]: What about Mosala?
- 2:39[SPEAKER_03]: Where's Mosala going to play this coming season?
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: That is a hard question to answer, Liverpool hopefully.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: Supposedly, look, this is pissing off that one listener right now.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: Supposedly, there's a heavy rumor that the Chicago MLS team is preparing a big giant vault of cash.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he wants to stay in the European football because he still believes that he can play at the highest level.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I would be surprised if he went to the MLS.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we shall see.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's it, dear listener.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: You don't have to put up with any more of that.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to talk dolphin stealers here.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is the never double that I did I missed the entire the entire like the missing everybody's complaining about.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I was going to do this troll thing where I was going to list a ton of topics for the show today and all of them were going to be nothing to do with the dolphins and the Steelers, but we just did, yeah, but we did not, we did three minutes of most salotalk, okay, yeah, you know, I always know who that is, great footballer, great footballer, Egyptian great Egyptian footballer member of Liverpool, great player.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: Exciting player, fun to watch, too.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, this is the narrative ball.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: They're all on the line.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_03]: Every single one of them.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_03]: Is there a narrative that's not on the line here?
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: I guess the playoff, the playoff game narrative, right?
- 4:07[SPEAKER_03]: But the rest of them are on the line, the cold weather, the winning team, on the road, prime time.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_03]: What's the use?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: I'm an excited for this because I am because if you could put up put the bed all of these narratives You go a long way to starting to believe in some of these players and this team and this coaching staff, correct?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think we're putting to bed all of them, but you know, there is a lot on the line.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: It is important And it's a winnable game.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to be cold.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's going to be on the road, but this is not there's not necessarily Steelers on defense, you know,
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, Aaron Rogers is there.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, DK Betconford is the best week of the season.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: But they're 21st and the league against the run.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: They're allowed 200 yards, Russia.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's both or 21, 18, in fact, against Baltimore.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: They're 28 and total defense.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: They're 28 through the air.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: But they're six and the league in sacks.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's TJ, what we're going to play or is he, as you're not going to play.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's a long issue.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: He was hospitalized this week.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see what happens, but they've also still got a lot of
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to let two of our beaters through the air because he's a below average quarter back this year and if they're going to beat us then he's going to have to do it And it will be interesting to see because I suspect Martin Daniel will know that's coming as well
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Martin Daniel National TV, does he want to get all sexy and show the world that look what I'm doing people have been talking about my offerings but nobody's really been watching because nobody really cares because we're not a very good team but you know now we're starting to make a run and yeah we're going to move away from running the ball now I'm going to show you all the sexy stuff I can do for the air because we know that Steve is going to try to stop us on the ground so here I come.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows what's gonna happen?
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I just I just finished watching Minicimes and then select be orgasmic over Miami's run game.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, about a ten-minute segment like there The toast of nerd football YouTube right now
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it has been great.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: It really has been, and they've done an outstanding job and credit has to go to McDonald's.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know we said on Monday that we temper that because where the hell's that been for years.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, we deal with dealing here and now and as it stands, it's, you know, one of the best if not the best running aim in the league.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's so creative.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: The question is can might we Daniel resist the temptation if plays get stopped early if they're not picking up big chunk yards as they have been over the last four five six weeks.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Will he reverse the type and just go back to throw the ball or will he persevere with the rug then because you know the runs are going to be there especially if to buy a channel is healthy Chris and you know it looks like it's some it's heading that way.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's a big game from for my unreal Monday and you know if they win that that there's still a you know.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: that would only probably put us up into the sort of the mid to late twenties in terms of getting into the playoffs, but you got to be in it to win it and you know, if they lose them out, but it's the end of the season.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, there's something to play for.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's something to play for, but I mean, it's, and I hate to, you know, throw water on that, but even if they go ten and seven, I believe the odds or something
- 7:32[SPEAKER_02]: Um, even if they, uh, even if they, uh, they run the table here.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so I don't see a path.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: By the way, uh, if they, if they run out, if they're, if they went out 10 and 7, I don't see a path to get into them.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think they'll be one of those teams that wins 10 games and doesn't make the playoffs.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I mean, like, you know, or how much are you selling out for the playoff run and and you know, and in reality, it's not much of a run at all, because it's just a run to end of the season and save some jobs.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that this is this is a wonderful game prides on the line.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: The cold, the cold streak is on the line, you know, and I think that that's that's something that they will play for.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think the players are playing for each other to play for their own film.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: They're a playing for, you know, a lot of pride and, you know, that that.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: that's getting them through these games against, against, well, a slate of bad opponents that we've seen.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is gonna be the highest quality win that they'll have had this year.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: So if they beat the Steelers on Monday night,
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: uh as you said Simon this is not you know this is not the old Steelers this is not a championship caliber Steelers this is not an elite team or anything like that but this would be a very high quality win for the Miami Dolphins in 2025 this would be um you know on the road and in the cold somebody else's house again stay the a team that is the top the top team in their revision at the moment.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I do agree with that because I could just hear our listeners saying, wait a minute, they'd be Buffalo.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_03]: You're supposed to be Buffalo, a division opponent at home.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_03]: That they haven't been beating them has been a problem.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's one of the narratives.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, yeah, a considerable problem, especially as we know that those intro division games are often very coin-flippy.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and we just saw it last week with the Saints beating the Buccaneers, you know, that's an intro division game and nobody thought that the Saints
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, they do how many times we beat the Patriots with Tom Brady when we had no business doing it that streak where Buffalo just kept beating us over and over again was sort of that was the unusual thing and that's the and that was the inexcusable thing frankly So yeah, this would be the high quality win of the season for sure.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_02]: So that's all that also means it's the biggest challenge of the season.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll see if T.J. Watt plays a some kind of thing happened, probably got a punctured long from an injection, and so we'll see how that goes, but I think that, you know, as further, the game plan that the Steelers are going to execute in,
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're going to try and run the stop.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they're going to think too hard about, you know, um, they're going to try to stop the run.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to stack the box.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: I know that they had a little bit of an issue, uh, allowing some yardage against the stack box against the Ravens last week.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but most of that that was pretty much just that 55 yard run.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that that broke out.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: And otherwise their stack box run defense has been good against the run all year against every
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: you know surprisingly because they don't you know they haven't been a good run defense period but they're when they put eight men in the box you know that's that's uh that's a good plan for them against the run so I think they're gonna do that against Miami Miami has been excelling against that though
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and we talked about that earlier in the week, Miami, when you when you stack the box against Miami, you put all those players toward the line of scrimmage, you know, it's a misdirection and and, you know, speed based run game and one fall step and then Devon H and is off to, you know, the race is for 40 yards and that's that's the way it goes, so it's going to be a test of whether Miami can keep that going.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_02]: You know, um, there was a time and remembering, um, I forget when it was, it was like 20, 23 or something like that when the, the stats that Jalen Wattle and Tyree kill had against man coverage were just.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: unbelievable, right?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then it all changed against the Tennessee Titans.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: And from there, they couldn't beat man coverage.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: They couldn't do a lot of production against man coverage to save their lives.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: And that lasted into the following year.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: So is this another situation like that where Miami's had a great run of getting shaking Devon H and loose for big gains against eight man, you know, boxes and, you know, just heavier, heavier defensive, run defensive fronts, but, you know, at some point, the the music is over and it just, you know, they're, they werevert or do they keep going.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's what this game is to me.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: I look forward to seeing it because, you know, they're making some of these games fun again, and that's that's nice to see because we haven't, you know, had a lot of fun to see it so it'll be it could be a good game it's prime time.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_03]: Simon, I've been watching a lot of, like, the preview shows from Pittsburgh beatwriters, and their fear seems to be kind of like what Chris is saying, that they'll stack the box, and that they'll expose their corners.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: They've had issues at corners.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_03]: They really do like Joyported Junior a lot.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_03]: They just say, he just doesn't tackle anybody on the perimeter, which is an issue.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, which is an issue.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_03]: And we know Jail Ramsey is not playing almost exclusively free safety.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_03]: So, so he's back there.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: One of their fears is that they're going to have Jail and Water match up on the outside and there's not going to be much safety help because they are going to be stacking the box.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_03]: And Miami can't hit him with a big play.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: As far as the past game, in my opinion, I don't think that that's what they should be shooting for.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think what they should be shooting for is to try to get there
- 13:38[SPEAKER_03]: there's short passing game back in order, which has been kind of missing for three weeks now.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_03]: Are you agree with Simon?
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, look, if I'm the stealers and I, you know, they've got two really athletic pieces, move pieces on the back end.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: One of them, we just talked about in, in Ramsey.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_00]: The other is Peyton Wilson, the linebacker who's outstanding in coverage as fast.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't surprise me if one of those two ended up with the kind of the deal that they were almost spying, covering A-chan out of the backfield.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was actually, if it was Ramsey because what you want, you know, if you are, if you're on my way down, you want guys, you know, especially if they're going to pay so and you want guys going against a car on the back end, against car dug up, against your real peppers.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you want that.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: you know, wild or fine in those places in the zone.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: If they're going to man up on the outside, you know, I fancy my chances against, you know, Jones Pierre and Brandon Eccles and maybe a Sunday, Samuel, if he plays.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: And Port has been okay, but he's grabby, there's penalties there, he can get beaten.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the dolphins have as much chance of being so, not as much chance.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have a decent chance of being successful through the air.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just winning those individual one-by-ones, but, you know, I want to come out and see them run the boat.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a tough group out front, you know, Benton and Yaya Black and Camhay would.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: Those guys direct harm and if you please.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's a decent group and obviously we know the devastating playoff the edge especially if what's what's healthy.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: But there's going to be chances for this for this dolphin scene that really is, you know, it's just whether or not they can line them up and make them and whether or not two has got it in his bag to be able to actually deliver in this in this really big moment because if he can, if he can play complimentary football through the air, then I think the dolphins can win this game, especially if he can's healthy.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: But if two can come to the party and play well to really well,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: and not turn the ball over and convert in big situations when he needs to.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think the dolphins have got to have a chance.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think that, so one of the keys there is, you mentioned it with Tua is, you know, the Steelers are a team.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: I believe that they have, they have the most,
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: Blitz is, the third most blitz is in the league this year.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: So they're a high blitz team, right?
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: Or at least next to end stats, that's what they'd say.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_02]: So we've seen a lot of this year, especially, you know, we've been talking about the diminishment of to a tongue of a lower, you know, when there's,
- 16:26[SPEAKER_02]: When we joke around, like, what does he look like when somebody steps into the pocket?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that when somebody invades the pocket, it'll just a little bit.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_02]: He just, you know, turtles, and just goes straight to the ground.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's that, but that's a real thing, and that's been happening all year.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_02]: So, there have been times in the past when two is absolutely deadly against the blitz.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_02]: This year, it's a lot, because that just gives them a free place to go with the ball, usually.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's been a lot this year that that's been mixed, that's not the case.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: So with the Steelers, I mean, blitzing, they're going to be all the more encouraged blitz in order to stop the run, I think, because they don't, they don't, one of the problems with the run defenses.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: They don't get enough like stuff behind the line of scrimmage to cause a real failure of the offense, the run offense.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so they're going to probably going to be encouraged to blitz some, you know, keeping everybody up on the line of scrimmage.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: What is to do against it?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: Does he hang in there tough against it?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, tougher than maybe he can afford to be with the, uh, the concussion history that he has.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, the last week he started to get hit.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty hard, I thought, against the jets.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: The jets were not holding back.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: They were not a forting any kind of respect to them.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: And that was something that I noticed in several people that I was talking with during the game, kind of noticed that.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a situation where he is starting to try to get a little tougher?
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: hang in there against the blitz make a play stuff like that.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_02]: And if that is the case does he put himself at harms in harms way or at risk, those will be the kind of things to keep an eye on because, you know, a game like this in prime time with the hard field and the cold weather.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if he's trying to be tough, remember that that Steelers game that he just was, it might have been make it if it's Patrick, they he did the same thing that he can cost himself against the Mar-Hamlin, but he tried to run over Devon Bush.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it was Devon Bush.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: And it was he had just got back and he just kind of, you know, did that thing.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: If if he's tired of playing the way that he's been playing and getting criticized for it, and he starts playing that way.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: You could, he could, I mean, you could see that, see that happen.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: And that could go, that could go really well until he's carted off the field.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so that is something that I'm gonna keep an eye on in this game is science that he's getting really anxious about the style of play that he's been putting on this year.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's been keeping him safe, but also resulting and I'm looking like a shell up in the former self.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and the in the jet came and we're going to go to break right now in the jet came he started off super hot it was 7 for 7 84 yards in the touchdown and if you notice he had he had a wall or for a big one on a little bow route and it got tipped and it came off target a bit.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: And right after that point, he just lost all rhythm.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_03]: So he has to stay in some type of rhythm.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I think that the short passing game is gonna be extremely important in this game because it's just been absent for three weeks and I know one of these games but it hasn't existed like where is it?
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: Because that's how you can stay on schedule and make them pay.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_03]: Make them make tackles in the cold weather, in the flat.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, we're gonna talk about the Steelers attack and how the dolphins stop it after these words.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: And we're back.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_03]: All right Simon.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_03]: There are many ways to skin a cat and the stevers have decided the way we're going to skin the running the ball cat is that we're just going to throw it to Warren and gain a lot of the backfield pretty much and as a substitute for the run game that's going to be key tackling tackling tackling you would agree dolphins tackle in this game they won.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think it's down to more than just tackling, um, I think you look like you say 29th ranked ground game in the league, 89.2 yards, okay, then have 34 yards against Baltimore.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, shutting that down, forcing our rogers to throw, um,
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: and getting pressure off the edge, you know, Aaron is not the core about the, he was a green bay in terms of his pocket maneuverability, and I think that, you know, that's going to be a huge thing for Arthur Smith and that offense in terms of how they, how they protect Rogers and how they try and work.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I saw their game in Dublin against a team.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: not dissimilar to us in terms of some of the things that we do on defense with with a lot of those kind of you know the the the looks and the coverages and the sim pressures that the the Vikings runs that there's some similarities there
- 21:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think what they did was that they really tried to hammer home that run game and they did it in a very, very particular way, which was that they, you know, used on our Washington almost, I mean, I think they played more 14 personnel than anybody I've ever seen at any point, I even said to Aaron Rodgers in the press conference afterwards and he laughed and said, you know, I've ever played.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_00]: that much in my life.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they obviously bring in, make some Spencer Anderson, who's the left guard, as essentially does what Daniel Brandt's killed does.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: But against the Vikings, he played pretty much every snap.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: And they had seven, eight linemen on the life.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_00]: You count, you know, the £303, as he admitted himself the other day, tight end on El Washington.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: And they've sort of moved away from that because they've tried to, you know, the ground game hasn't been working, game well has struggled a bit.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's been some injuries, Caleb Johnson really hasn't worked out, particularly well, and they've been trying to obviously force feed DK Metcalf.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: They've brought in Adam Thielim, but Roman Wilson's been a bit of a disappointment, scoring minutes, been a bit of a disappointment, Calvin Austin's had some fun balls and been injured.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: and they haven't been able to get Johnny Smith going at all.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it'll be really interesting to see how they try and attack Miami and where they try and attack Miami because obviously as we all know the dolphins have got much more stout through the middle and praise should go to that interior defensive line and especially those three rookies who have begun to play well.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Jordan Brooks is playing at a pro ball plus level.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: So it will be interesting.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: And the back end has played, you know, and we talked about it.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we rightly talked about it.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it was pretty poor or very poor early in the season.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that was the, you know, the cornerback situation, the secondary situation, but to be fair to them.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think I've done a really good job.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Anthony, we was done an outstanding coaching job with that group, especially with that secondary.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: So it will be tougher for Pittsburgh to try and move the ball.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: But you don't want them to be able to get that run going going.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to see Spencer Anderson and Danelle Washington aligning up in those big jumbo formations and just trying to run it down our throats because I'm not sure that, you know, as well as that interior defensive line of playing guys, I'm just not sure that we're necessarily ready for
- 23:50[SPEAKER_00]: for that really, really powerful aggressive run game that pits both good to bring to the pie, if they river it back to what they try to do successfully when they beat the Vikings in doubling Chris.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and by the way, don't know Washington is in the concussion protocol, but he's probably about limited, yeah, limited in practice today.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I think the expectation is that he's going to play, but yeah, and the expectation I think is that EK is going to play I thought there was some question about that earlier,
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: But so I think that it's going to be looking at you guys to me because I think that Miami has started to, you know, remember, the run defense early in the year was ridiculous, right?
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: Miami's run defense.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_02]: It was just terrible.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that Miami has really, you know, those gears turn slow, but they when they do turn, they, you know, they tend to slam into place.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that run defense for Miami is been doing well and will continue to do well.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: what they're they're probably do are there it's going to ask to me and that's D. K. Matt Kaffem John O'Smith.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, they look like like Chris froze there.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: He did.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, Chris, Chris froze a bit.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'll move on here until we get him back.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_03]: And then we're going to do predictions as we're winding down the show.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_03]: Miami is kind of a middle of the field open style defense.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_03]: They really, really, really pay attention to the flats.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I really think that's important.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: Kenneth Gainwell has been a guy who has come up with pretty big plays the last four weeks for the Steelers.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: Anytime that they've needed something on third and short, they throw to their backs a lot.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_03]: And Aaron Rogers for, I think it was a six week time period, did not throw an air pass and air yard pass of over 30 yards.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_03]: He threw four of them against the Ravens.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: So it looks like maybe that is back into,
- 26:11[SPEAKER_03]: the game plan.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_03]: So, yeah, I said that if they tackle, they win, I think it's also important.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: Stay in your 2 deep shell, right, Simon?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: Don't give them any confidence whatsoever that they're going to throw the ball down the field.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_03]: Because that's something that the Ravens, I think was a mistake last week.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: They showed a little lack of respect for the deep passing game and they didn't
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: on the past as well.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_03]: You would agree with that, right, Simon?
- 26:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm a two-deep shell, all game.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: But also, stay disciplined, especially, I would imagine, Aaron will try and get some of those young defensive line with jump off sides at different points and try success that he's had, you know, such a huge basis with a free play.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: you know by trying to get into jump and doing those things so they're going to need to be savvy the dolphins they're going to need to play you know sensible intelligent football if they're going to win they're playing against an extremely wildy veteran and they've got some you know some big players and offence you know you don't want to get John O'Smith move in you want to make sure that frimouth is accounted for.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to get Donald Washington rumbling down a field towards you at 311 pounds and after make a business decision on that front, the return game you don't want to give Calvin Austin chances, you don't want to leave game-welling space in the flat as a receiver because he'll hurt you.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously they've got a Hall of Fame quarterback, you know, one of the great courtbacks of all time.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, he may be older, but he can still sling it as he showed last week, you know.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: They couldn't have walked some of those deep balls down the side, and I handed them to D.K.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: Mark Carfanybetter.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, we mustn't underestimate this team, but given the situations, the weather, the road, all of those things that usually go against the dolphins, I do think there's a chance, as I said earlier.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, doing exactly what they've done on defense, rallying to the ball, trying to punch the ball out, trying to win the takeaway battle, the interceptions have started to come.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: Those sorts of things are going to be absolutely critical, because the will also be chances to make plays on defense.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: to turn the ball over and get the offense back the ball, and then to be able to run it down, Hitchburg's throat, and it may come down to a battle of special teams, who's got the best kicker and Chris Boswell has been fantastic for 11 seasons, he's having another great year, but Riley Paterson's also having a great year.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you can make the argument, if you look at the financials, you
- 28:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's Jason Sanders ever kicked for the Miami Dolphins again, you know, Pat's since been absolutely outstanding.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, we shall see, but I think there will be opportunities for weaves defense to get the ball back and to put Miami soft vents in a touchdown positive position.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, what time?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, something.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, something Chris.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was just going to finish my thought like about DK is the one thing about about this matchup is he's facing guys or, you know, we're facing him with guys who haven't really played against against DK much before.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, Russell Douglas did play against, you know, Seattle and against him.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: but he mostly was on other players like Tyler Walker and Jack Jones has never played him.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be interesting because when Jack Jones, in particular, has some problems, I think it can be against, you know, a bigger physical guy like DK Metcalf.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that they'd
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: the they finally after struggling for a good series of games this year they finally got a taste of that connection last week between you know between Aaron Rogers and DK Metcalf got a good contested catch in there for early for the first time in like eight games you know something like that
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that that's going to be something that I'm really going to be watching for because if our corners, if anything can happen to our corners and they're vulnerable, they've been playing very well, probably above their station.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be to me with big physical strong guys like him.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: And so so that's the thing is the two things going back to Jonathan Smith against our underneath coverage would because that has been a problem throughout the year.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: But then also DK Matt Kaff on those big plays because of his physicality and size.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure that our corners now is getting, you know, the issue you're talking about, you know, you keep two shelves, two guys back into shell.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's not, that's not Anthony, we were style.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_02]: As much as as you would think like, you know, he in terms of just alignment spacing, you know, he will play some cover two, but in terms of pre snap spacing and stuff like that, that's that's not been a style that much.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_02]: So this year, so you know, do they, do they change it?
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't bet on that, you know, especially not in this weather.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's going to be, that's going to be an interesting thing to just, we see who comes out on top.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_03]: It's time to pick this game and I'll go first.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_03]: I was watching a, um, like I said, I've been watching a lot of the, the Pittsburgh Steelers beat guys.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_03]: And I was here in one guy on like, what am I, is this guy talking about us?
- 31:41[SPEAKER_03]: Or, or is he talking about, what is he talking about?
- 31:43[SPEAKER_03]: And he was talking about,
- 31:45[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, this is one of those spots against a team we should beat at home on prime time.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is where we lose and he was talking about the Steelers.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's a joke on us.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and he was like, yeah, and he was like, the most Steelers thing ever is that we're going to lose to to the Dolphins and then beat the crap out of the lion's next week.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, really, this is the way they think, well, this is the way I think.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_03]: is a giant narrative.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's more of a, you're losing the better teams narrative.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_03]: They're own four in games in 30 degrees or colder weather in the McDaniel era.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: Two games against the bills, they play good in both games against the bills, had lead in the fourth quarter of both games against the bills.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_03]: One in the playoff game with
- 32:34[SPEAKER_03]: with a scholar Thompson, they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023, an awful weather.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: They lost to the Packers in 2024 in very, very cold weather as well.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_03]: The Steelers are none of those teams.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_03]: None of those teams.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_03]: All those teams are much better than the Steelers.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_03]: So I look at this as a no excuse game for the Miami Dolphins.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_03]: So I do have them winning.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_03]: I have them running the ball well.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_03]: I have
- 33:03[SPEAKER_03]: and they hold on like 22 19 Miami.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: Sammy.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: I've got, I mean, I'm kind of regret this.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: Miami 24 pits, both 20.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_02]: Chris, I don't think that that's, I don't think that that's gonna play out.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think that this is, this game is gonna be a wake up call.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_02]: For Miami, I think that this is gonna go down as something like a 30 to 10 destruction of the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Call me if I'm wrong, that's fine.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I think that this is not gonna play out as well as we would hope.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's on video now and on audio.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't think you can hide from Chris, if it goes, hopefully we need to.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_03]: Or pose.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_03]: All right, and we're going to end it right there.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_03]: We will not have a show on Monday, obviously, because we'll be watching the game.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_03]: But we will have a show on Tuesday, where we will react to this.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_03]: And next week's going to be kind of interesting, because we get to talk a little college football again to for that one listener to enjoy.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: Next Thursday, but we will be back with you on Tuesday, armed with the results of this game, and we will recap before you.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: But, till then.
