Dylan: Just I mean, just one favorite is the hardest.
• 2:38
  Joe: It is.
• 2:39
  Joe: It really is.
• 2:40
Joe: I think didn't think it was gonna be that hard.
• 2:44
  Joe: Yeah.
• 2:45
Joe: I mean, not that I've exhausted Back to the Future, but I wanted to talk about something else.
• 2:51
  Joe: Yeah.
• 2:51
  Joe: Yeah.
• 2:52
Dylan: I mean, we do have a good back-to-back on it.
• 2:55
  Joe: Yeah.
• 2:56
  Dylan: On the first one.
• 2:57
  Joe: Yeah.
• 2:57
Dylan: And I'm definitely going to cover the the other two later on.
• 3:02
Joe: So not to mention the cartoons and the ride and everything else.
• 3:09
  Dylan: Right.
• 3:12
  Dylan: So alright.
• 3:14
Dylan: Well, to get started here, so I went with Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest.
• 3:23
  Dylan: Nice.
• 3:24
  Dylan: Yep.
• 3:24
Dylan: So that is the second one.
• 3:26
Dylan: So it is directed by Gore Vrbinsky.
• 3:31
Dylan: So I can't tell you what else he uh he did.
• 3:34
Dylan: Probably the other movies in the franchise.
• 3:36
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 3:37
  Dylan: Mm-hmm.
• 3:37
  Dylan: Mm-hmm.
• 3:39
  Dylan: Yep.
• 3:39
Dylan: So yeah, this one is the second film in the in the Pirates franchise.
• 3:44
  Dylan: Oh, okay.
• 3:45
Joe: Which was all inspired by the ride.
• 3:49
Joe: So the so Dead Man's Chest was inspired by the ride?
• 3:56
Dylan: Or you're saying all the whole franchise was inspired by the ride.
• 3:59
  Joe: Yeah, yeah.
• 4:00
  Joe: Okay.
• 4:01
Joe: I won't sing it out, but I really want to.
• 4:04
  Dylan: Pirates Life for Me.
• 4:05
  Dylan: Yes.
• 4:08
  Dylan: Copyright, copyright, copyright.
• 4:12
  Joe: Yeah.
• 4:14
Dylan: So yeah, just I don't know.
• 4:16
Dylan: What I love about the franchise as a whole, and like specifically this one, is just like just the scale of the adventure.
• 4:27
Dylan: I mean, you're you're sailing the open waters of the world.
• 4:32
  Joe: Um of the Caribbean.
• 4:35
Joe: Or Caribbean, depending on who you are, how stuck up you are.
• 4:40
Joe: It's it it's funny though, because like w when I'm at Disneyland, I'm writing Pirates of the Caribbean.
• 4:47
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 4:48
Joe: If you're on a cruise, you're going to the Caribbean.
• 4:50
  Joe: To the Caribbean.
• 4:51
  Joe: Yes.
• 4:53
Joe: That's just how it is.
• 4:54
  Joe: Yeah.
• 4:55
Joe: Like people could be snooty if they want to be, but that's just how it is.
• 5:00
  Dylan: Right.
• 5:01
Joe: If you grew up going to any any Disney uh park at all, that's just how it goes.
• 5:10
  Joe: Like right.
• 5:12
Joe: Now, now the confusing thing would be if you're on a Disney cruise, where are you going?
• 5:17
Joe: The Caribbean or the Caribbean?
• 5:21
Dylan: A real fun thing, like, from the ride, is that the ride itself like didn't have a story the way that the movies do.
• 5:30
Dylan: Instead, like the filmmakers pulled kind of the tone and imagery and like different moments from the attraction.
• 5:38
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 5:38
Dylan: Um, it's one of the very few Disney rides that have done that with.
• 5:45
Dylan: Um so yeah, so like the ride opened in uh 1967 at Disneyland and was uh instantly famous for its immersive pirate world.
• 5:59
Dylan: Um so like instead of like a strict story, the guests would float through the scenes of the pirate skeleton caves, a pirate ship attacking a fort, a town being raided and burned, and drunken pirates celebrating their loot.
• 6:15
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 6:15
Dylan: And so the filmmakers wanted the movies to feel like you're stepping into that world.
• 6:21
Dylan: So yeah, the the producer Jerry Bruck Bruckheimer?
• 6:26
Dylan: Yep, Jerry Bruckheimer and the director Gore Verbinski leaned into the dark humor and chaotic pirate energy that the ride had.
• 6:36
Dylan: So, like one of the most memorable moments of the ride is when the guests pass skeleton pirates guarding the treasure.
• 6:44
Dylan: So then that the filmmakers turn that visual idea into the curse of the Aztec gold in Curse of the Black Pearl.
• 6:52
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
• 6:53
Dylan: So in the film, the pirates become undead skeletons in moonlight and they guard the cursed treasure, and the cur curse prevents them from feeling anything.
• 7:02
Dylan: So then that concept came directly from the skeletons in the attraction.
• 7:07
Dylan: Um like several specific moments from the ride were also created in the movies as nods to the fans of the ride.
• 7:15
Dylan: So, like the dog with the jaw key appears in Curse of the Black Pearl, uh, the drunken pirates with the the treasure inspired the chaotic pirate culture in Tortuga.
• 7:27
Dylan: So then the attraction features the famous song Yoho, A Pirate's Life for Me, which was written for the ride, and was written by Disney Legends George Bruins and Xavier Antonicho.
• 7:42
Dylan: And so the song appears briefly in the first film, When the Pirates Are in Jail.
• 7:49
Dylan: So then after the movies became such a success, they kind of retrofitted the rides to have um the characters of uh Jack Sparrow, Captain Jack Sparrow.
• 8:03
Joe: Yeah, yeah, I remember when they added that in in uh Anaheim.
• 8:09
Dylan: Yeah, oh man, I that would be such a controversial like moment to do that too.
• 8:16
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 8:17
Dylan: Just with I don't know, I feel like Disney right now, like people are so like diehard about the rides and stuff, and yeah, just preserving the core of the ride, and then for you to add stuff in essentially, you know, I IP fying the ride.
• 8:41
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 8:42
  Dylan: So um, but yeah.
• 8:46
Dylan: The another little fun fact for you is Disney World did not open with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
• 8:54
Dylan: Oh, they were not planning on putting that ride into the park.
• 8:59
Dylan: Um, they were Disney World was wanting to lean more into the um what would you say, like Western?
• 9:09
Dylan: So like they ha were wanting to flesh out like more of the the Western like uh movies, I guess, because uh Disney Walt Disney, you know, loved westerns like that.
• 9:25
Dylan: And so they were wanting rides more themed around that, and so then everybody who was going to Disney World was asking where the pirate ride was and upset that there wasn't one, so it was quickly changed to having having that ride.
• 9:48
  Dylan: So interesting.
• 9:50
Dylan: Sorry, long side tangent there.
• 9:52
Dylan: Yeah I love the ride.
• 9:55
Dylan: Movies are great too, right?
• 9:57
Dylan: So just back to the movie though, like they do such a good job of like blending the comedy and the action and the fantasy of it all.
• 10:09
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 10:09
Dylan: Um Johnny Depp's iconic performance, you know, he just can't have those movies without that.
• 10:17
Joe: Which again, going back to him having been a possibility for the Matrix, like it just Yeah, I just don't see that.
• 10:27
Dylan: Yeah, like I just like all I can picture is Jack Sparrow in the Matrix.
• 10:32
  Dylan: Yeah, right.
• 10:33
  Joe: Yeah, yeah.
• 10:34
Joe: That just having Jack Sparrow in the Matrix would just not be yeah.
• 10:40
Dylan: I mean, I what you know, it makes you wonder if he was in The Matrix, if that would change it, you know, yeah, his roles down the road.
• 10:47
  Dylan: Uh-huh.
• 10:48
Dylan: I mean, because Jack Sparrow is just one of the most iconic characters in modern cinema.
• 10:53
Joe: He embodied and the cool thing too was his one of his inspirations um was Keith Richards from Rolling Stones.
• 11:02
Joe: And then later on, in uh I forget which one, he ends up Keith Richards ends up being in like his dad or something in in Bootstrap Bill.
• 11:12
  Joe: Yeah, exactly.
• 11:13
Joe: So it's just like it's cool that the the inspiration for that character got to be in the movie, yeah.
• 11:24
Joe: So Johnny Depp just, you know, and and um Orlando Bloom and Kira Knightley were you know just like I think Kira Knightley had done um what is it uh the Beckham movie, you know?
• 11:40
  Joe: Beckham movie, yeah.
• 11:41
  Joe: Bend it like Beckham.
• 11:42
Joe: She was in a it was a soccer movie.
• 11:44
  Joe: Oh, okay.
• 11:44
Joe: And uh it somehow became it was like you know, a movie from England, but yeah, Beckham was so popular all over the place that you know she did Bend It Like Beckham and it became a popular movie over here for some reason.
• 12:00
  Joe: Funny soccer fans.
• 12:02
Joe: But uh she had done that and then gotten to these movies and or she actually she was in um which episode was it?
• 12:09
Joe: She was in the later episodes of Star Wars.
• 12:12
  Joe: Oh really?
• 12:12
Joe: And she doubled, she doubled um oh what is her name?
• 12:19
  Joe: Uh Queen Queen Amadala.
• 12:22
  Joe: Um right, Padme.
• 12:25
  Joe: Okay.
• 12:26
Joe: So Kira Knightley um plays a character named Sabe or something like that, and she's a body double for Padme in the movie.
• 12:38
  Dylan: That's really interesting.
• 12:39
Joe: Yeah, so she's like she she pretends she's Padme, and then and then Padme comes out of and goes, Oh, I'm here, you know, or something like that.
• 12:50
Joe: So she was in that Benham like Beckham, and then this is really where you know the first movie was really where like Orlando Bloom and her like really got to you know get some big roles and yeah, because she steps into the role of Elizabeth Swan.
• 13:06
Joe: And then in the second, they're already established, so it's like continuing the adventure and right.
• 13:12
Dylan: I mean, because in the first one she's noblewoman turned pirate leader, yeah.
• 13:18
Dylan: And then, or I don't know if she was the leader for the first one, but turned pirate, and then in this one she just grows like the the boldness and like independent.
• 13:34
Dylan: Yeah, and then you have Wilp Turner played by Orlando Bloom, who is blacksmith turned pirate essentially, and then in the second one is really good because he is kind of caught between like the loyalty and duty on on the ship.
• 13:56
Dylan: Um and then you have Davey Jones played by Bill Nightie.
• 14:07
Dylan: And like that has to be just one of the best CGI villains that we have.
• 14:13
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 14:14
Dylan: For yeah, the definitely and it's kind of interesting too, like how even the CGI CGI we have today just does not hold up to even that because this movie came out in 2006.
• 14:34
Dylan: Okay, and like even the CGI that they have now just doesn't even hold a candle to that.
• 14:41
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 14:41
Dylan: And I feel like that kind of boils down to the studios are just trying to push stuff through instead of taking time with it.
• 14:52
Dylan: So, but I mean he did he did such a good job like playing Davey Jones and embodying that character.
• 15:04
Dylan: But yeah, so like the first time I saw the movie, I was seven.
• 15:09
Dylan: Watched it when it came out.
• 15:11
  Dylan: Wow.
• 15:12
Dylan: And um it just like kind of instantly became a favorite of mine just with the the storytelling and kind of the the grimy nature of it all.
• 15:29
Joe: Yeah, that's one thing that I don't know, just the production value of the whole movie is that you see you look at it like a B movie, and you look at a movie like this where they really spend the time to grime things up.
• 15:47
  Joe: Right.
• 15:48
Joe: You know, it's like the biggest seller.
• 15:50
Joe: Um like I I uh cosplayed a pirate at one point, yeah, and I looked up how to how to like you know make your clothes look dirty and stuff, and I remember I I did um I put my white shirt in coffee and then drained it out and then made it really like you know, still stay still smells like coffee.
• 16:12
Joe: Oh but uh you know I was wondering what that smell was, yeah.
• 16:18
Joe: Um, but it it just goes to show like stuff like that really sells it.
• 16:23
Dylan: Yeah, it's just yeah, it makes and like just for the rewatchability of it too, like the layers of work that got put into it, every time you watch it, it's you know even more rewarding than the last.
• 16:39
Dylan: Yeah, because you just get more out of it.
• 16:43
Joe: Yeah, the um even the prosthetics and like how the the one guy has the fake eyeball and everything, you know, it's just that kind of stuff you throw in there, and the actors, you know, that particular actor that I'm thinking of um was on the Office BBC version.
• 17:02
Joe: So he was like, yeah, yeah.
• 17:07
Dylan: But uh yeah, and just the the way they play off of each other and yeah, you know, yeah, just along the lines of like the rewatchability of it, like you have all of the action sequences, just the humor pretty much built into it, especially with Johnny Depp like just riffing as much as he did.
• 17:32
Dylan: Um you have all of the mythology around the flying Dutchman, yeah, and all kind of the the built-in lore of it.
• 17:42
Dylan: Uh the kind of the what is it called?
• 17:48
Dylan: The the the climax of kind of the big kraken fight scene at the end, yeah, and you the cliffhanger ending of it of Jack Sparrow, you know, going into the mouth of the Kraken.
• 18:00
  Dylan: Yeah the Kraken.
• 18:04
  Dylan: Alright, Joe.
• 18:05
  Dylan: So what's your pick?
• 18:07
  Joe: Hmm.
• 18:08
Joe: Well, after long contemplation and paralysis from analysis, um Batman is one of my favorite characters, yeah.
• 18:22
Joe: Uh, whether in movie form, animated form, uh TV, live action, and so um as you know, I love the Snyder stuff.
• 18:36
Joe: Yeah, I'm hoping it comes back.
• 18:38
Joe: Um, but I think one of the kind of like one of the epic movies for Batman is The Dark Knight.
• 18:48
  Dylan: Oh yeah, yeah.
• 18:52
Joe: It it just has all of the the beats of a comic book movie.
• 19:00
  Joe: Yeah.
• 19:01
  Joe: It has the realism.
• 19:03
Joe: Christopher Nolan is just really good at storytelling.
• 19:08
  Joe: Oh, yeah.
• 19:09
Joe: Um and Hans Zimmer is an amazing composer.
• 19:14
  Joe: Absolutely.
• 19:15
Joe: And yeah, I mean, just sitting through hearing a live orchestra play Hans Zimmer stuff.
• 19:21
Joe: That's funny because Hans Zimmer did Pirates of the Caribbean as well.
• 19:25
Joe: Oh, yeah, there you go.
• 19:29
Joe: Um I knew we would connect us somehow.
• 19:34
Joe: But yeah, um my theory, and I haven't drawn it out yet.
• 19:43
Dylan: Okay, but you've heard it here first.
• 19:47
Joe: Being a Bond James Bond fan and watching anything from Connery to um others, okay, um, I really feel like the Dark Knight, you know, whether it's Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, this whole series, yeah, it are Bond films.
• 20:09
  Dylan: Okay.
• 20:10
Joe: So because you have like like um, I think Q is the person who comes with the inventions, and then you have M who like helps, you know, Bond.
• 20:21
Joe: And there's all these characters like Lucius Fox is the is the guy who comes up with the gadgets and and all of that.
• 20:29
Joe: And then you have Alfred who helps him with other things, and helps him, you know, even going back to the Batman Begins, he's he gets uh, you know, he's in one of his first battles, and Alfred comes and picks him up, you know.
• 20:45
Joe: And so, you know, and then you know, in Dark Knight, there's even more, you know, helps him out out of the you know, wreckage or whatever.
• 20:53
Joe: And so there's just these these little things where it's like, you know, James Bond, you know, when he goes and and does his secret agent thing, he has a suit on, and you know, he always always wearing a suit, but like there's a particular, like he's like I would I can't remember what film it is, but Bond's running, and he just has a full-on suit, like a full-on, you know, not a tux, but like, and sometimes he'll wear a tux.
• 21:22
Joe: But I feel like you have Bruce Wayne and you have Batman, and when Batman is is in his suit, that's when he becomes James Bond, you know.
• 21:36
Joe: So yeah, and so there's just a lot of uh a lot of tie ins to that where you look at those two characters and they're very similar, and the way they play it, too, is very grounded.
• 21:49
Joe: Um with the Joker, um, the the theory is that he was a ex military, um With post uh traumatic stress, yeah, you know.
• 22:03
Joe: And so, you know, he's that's why he can pick up a um what is it called, a grenade launcher like nothing and use artillery like nothing because he's used to it and he knows it.
• 22:15
Joe: Oh and then he can get a small army together because he's such a strong leader, even though he's faces painted and whatever else, he knows how to to lead people that way.
• 22:28
Joe: So there's this, you know.
• 22:29
Joe: So then you have like with the whole Bond theory, there's always like a villain with kind of a you know, you have your grandiose plan, right?
• 22:42
Joe: You have everything that's um kind of sur circuit circulating that plan and how it's being brought out, and there's um kind of in the whole like James Bond lore, there's a main villain, um, and he's a recurring character named uh Blofeld.
• 23:06
Joe: Okay, and so all through like the the Sean Connery ones, and then even in the most recent ones, uh Christopher Waltz played him, but um the the same thing is kind of with Razel Ghoul.
• 23:21
Joe: It's like the Razel Ghoul um, you know, he starts off training Batman and then um gets him going, and then in the um is it at the end he comes back, and then there's still an air about him in the second one, but in the third one, um his his uh daughter comes back and then avenges his death and all this stuff, but it's still that that anchoring of of the main villain.
• 23:51
  Joe: So I don't know.
• 23:53
Joe: I that's my theory, but it really feels like when you look at the two and you compare even the most recent recent, like Daniel Craig, uh James Bonds, they're really similar.
• 24:07
Joe: But uh but yeah, other than that, um there's such good like actors in there.
• 24:18
  Joe: Um Heath Ledger.
• 24:19
  Joe: Yeah, Heath Ledger.
• 24:21
Joe: I mean, that was everybody, you know, that performance was just amazing.
• 24:26
Joe: Yeah, and I mean I've seen him in in all kinds of other stuff.
• 24:30
Joe: And I mean, this this was yeah, this was a performance of you know, a lifetime.
• 24:38
Joe: It just um one of my favorite scenes in there is when he walks in and he's like, you know, you know, the television's, you know, uh what does he say?
• 24:51
Joe: Um something about the television, and you know, he'll find you, and you know, he'll go anywhere, you know, and and uh and then um like one of my other favorite characters in there, the actor Michael J.
• 25:09
Joe: White, he's a martial artist, and um he I just like it's just a small part, but he's just like ready to kill him.
• 25:18
Joe: He's like, Let's kill the clown, you know, yeah.
• 25:21
Joe: Yeah, and then he just goes, like, you know, he pulls out the grenade thing, um, he you know, he opens up his jacket and you know he has a grenade.
• 25:31
  Joe: He's rigged to blow.
• 25:32
  Joe: Yeah, rig to blow.
• 25:33
Joe: And then he's like um he makes the pencil disappear.
• 25:38
  Joe: Right, yeah.
• 25:39
Joe: He's like let you know, I forget how he says it, but let's let's see this disappear.
• 25:44
Joe: And then it just you want to see a magic trick.
• 25:47
Joe: Yeah, you want to see a magic trick?
• 25:50
Dylan: Um it's so slick, like it just everybody and then something that I felt like they could have played up more in that though, is the uh what's it called?
• 26:04
  Dylan: Uh two-phase?
• 26:06
  Dylan: Uh-huh.
• 26:06
  Dylan: Is that a two-face?
• 26:08
Dylan: I felt like they could have done more with that.
• 26:12
Dylan: I felt like they showed a lot more of the like Harvey Dent side of that versus the yeah.
• 26:24
Joe: Yeah, I can see that.
• 26:27
Joe: Um that that was an amazing thing too, is that compared to previous iterations of Two Face, this was just more of a real take and a practical, like, this is how it happened.
• 26:42
  Joe: Yeah, right.
• 26:43
Joe: You know, like in the comic books, uh, you know how there's that scene where they're doing the trial, and the guy pulls the gun out and shoots at him, and it doesn't work, and then he takes them out.
• 26:58
Joe: So in the comic book, um the guy sneaks in some acid and throws it on his face.
• 27:05
  Dylan: Really?
• 27:06
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 27:07
Joe: And so then that's how he becomes scarred and becomes too faced.
• 27:11
  Joe: Yeah.
• 27:12
  Joe: Yeah.
• 27:12
Joe: And they show it in the other version.
• 27:15
Joe: Um, I can't remember if it's Batman Forever.
• 27:19
Joe: The one with uh The Riddler.
• 27:24
  Dylan: Okay.
• 27:26
  Joe: Directed by Joe Schumacher.
• 27:29
Joe: Um, but uh yeah, uh Tommy Lee Jones plays um two-faced in that one, and it's it's just more campy, you know, it's just way more campy.
• 27:39
Joe: And so this is like they establish him as the uh, you know, the the kind of the hero, you know, and especially setting him up like you know, I'm Batman, and everybody's like, what?
• 27:54
Joe: You know, like he could have been, right?
• 27:57
Joe: You know, he easily could have been, and and people would have would have bought it, but um, yeah, so it I don't know, I feel like yeah, they could have probably could have done more and it got kind of weak at the end, but for the most part, like especially with with Heath Ledger just manipulating everything, and you know, or the Joker manipulating everything, and yeah, um just so yeah.
• 28:28
Dylan: Um that's such a fun, like underlying tone throughout the whole thing, too, is just how the Joker manipulates everything and kind of shows him to be more of the kind of mastermind behind it all, yeah, and not just goofy antics.
• 28:51
  Dylan: Yeah, right.
• 28:53
Joe: Yeah, because there's definitely just you know, movie studios want to sell toys, right?
• 29:01
Joe: And so then they go the campy route, and then it just becomes this like, oh, you just you could have had right, you know, and there's times where like Warner Brothers has done that where they want to follow Marvel and they want to do you know, toys and they want to do all this other stuff.
• 29:18
Joe: It's like just stay true to what you do and what these writers are doing, and and it'll you know, like these it'll sort itself out, yeah.
• 29:27
Joe: I mean, he was awarded an Oscar um after he had passed, yeah.
• 29:32
Joe: You know, like people loved it so much that it was just like and he would have come back in the third one, yeah.
• 29:38
  Joe: Yeah.
• 29:39
Dylan: Did they have to with the third one?
• 29:42
Dylan: Did they have to pivot on it because he passed?
• 29:45
Joe: Yeah, gotcha, yeah, because it was gonna be like a rogues gallery of villains, yeah, yeah.
• 29:51
Joe: And you know, Bane was one of them, but then you know, Scarecrow's there, and uh then Catwoman comes out and in that one in the Dark Knight Rises, okay, and then it would have been Joker being part of that, and you know, just causing more chaos and things.
• 30:07
  Joe: So just yeah.
• 30:10
Joe: Like one of the one of the scenes I like is when he um he's blowing up the hospital and he's walking away and the thing's not working, and he starts hitting it, and then it's just boom.
• 30:25
Joe: It just the feeling of how it was it was uh filmed and everything, and the you can almost feel or see in the picture the like the amount of destruction happening and like the you know right, yeah.
• 30:43
Joe: So like, you know, just the shaking and and all that of it and just realism.
• 30:49
  Joe: Right.
• 30:50
Dylan: Um well and stop me if you know this, but for that scene specifically, like it wasn't even supposed to happen that way.
• 30:58
  Joe: Uh-huh.
• 30:59
Dylan: He just knew how many explosions there were supposed to be, yeah.
• 31:03
Dylan: And like, you know, counted them, and he was like, wait a minute, like this isn't going off.
• 31:11
Dylan: And so he started like hitting it, hitting it, messing with it, even though it's not the actual detonator for it.
• 31:19
  Dylan: Uh-huh.
• 31:19
Dylan: But then, like, you know, he pauses and is like hitting it, messing with it, and then kaboo, and it keeps you know exploding.
• 31:27
Dylan: Like, that's just how it yeah, how it folded out.
• 31:30
Joe: And and because of the way it was rigged and everything, they had one shot at it.
• 31:34
Joe: So he just had to improvise and act like this is part of it, you know.
• 31:39
Joe: He did such a good job.
• 31:40
  Joe: Yeah.
• 31:41
Joe: I love the the interaction where he's like, I don't want to kill you.
• 31:47
Joe: What would I do without you?
• 31:49
  Joe: Yeah.
• 31:51
Joe: Go back ripping off mob dealers?
• 31:54
  Joe: No, no, no.
• 31:56
  Joe: You complete me.
• 31:58
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 31:59
Dylan: I mean, it definitely just shows how it's just the for lack of a better term, just the sheer obsession with the other.
• 32:12
Dylan: You know, it's just two sides of the same coin.
• 32:15
  unknown: Yeah.
• 32:15
Dylan: And it's just so good.
• 32:17
  Joe: Yeah.
• 32:18
Joe: I think the cool thing about all of it too is that you know, a lot of comic book movies are scared to have too many characters, you know.
• 32:28
  Joe: Really?
• 32:29
Joe: And and like, you know, like they like it took 10 years for or however long it did for the Avengers to assemble, you know.
• 32:37
  Joe: Oh, right.
• 32:38
Joe: Because they don't want to just throw them all in one thing.
• 32:40
  Joe: Right.
• 32:41
Joe: And um, in this movie, like there's a there's a lot of Batman characters in there, you know, and just um there's hints at different characters or Easter eggs of different characters, you know.
• 33:00
  Joe: Yeah.
• 33:00
Joe: Um, so in that in that storyline of the accountant helping, you know, like looking through the records and everything, yeah.
• 33:12
Joe: The guy's name is Mr.
• 33:13
  Joe: Reese.
• 33:15
Joe: And oh if you say it fast enough.
• 33:19
  Joe: Yeah.
• 33:20
Joe: So he's supposed to be kind of a riddler type, you know.
• 33:25
Joe: And uh just my it's one of my favorite delivery lines because um, you know, Lucius is just like, so you're telling me you think your boss is a guy who dresses up at night to uh beat up Vincilantes, and you want to blackmail him?
• 33:45
  Joe: Good luck.
• 33:49
Joe: Yes, yeah, yeah, just classic lines in there, yeah, just right, yeah.
• 33:55
Dylan: So um what was the first one?
• 33:58
Dylan: Batman begins, and then this one is Dark Knight, The Dark Knight, and then it is The Dark Knight Rises, and that's like the three with that kind of series, right?
• 34:09
  Joe: Yeah, that trilogy.
• 34:11
Dylan: So why did why did it stop?
• 34:13
Dylan: Like, is that just all that they were wanting to do?
• 34:16
Joe: Or yeah, I think with with the writer and with Christopher Nolan, um they they just wanted to do the series and they want they had it in mind of how they wanted to begin it, and how they wanted to end it, and just kind of leave it be.
• 34:32
Joe: Um but of course, yeah, the Dark Knight Rises would have been different with Ledger, Heath Ledger, and and everything, but um and then what's the most recent one?
• 34:47
  Joe: Um of Batman movies?
• 34:50
  Dylan: Yeah.
• 34:51
Joe: Um, I mean, technically, are you talking of the Nolan series or just I guess general?
• 34:59
  Joe: Yeah.
• 34:59
Joe: I would say the most recent is the um Robert Pattenton Batman one.
• 35:07
Dylan: And are they trying to were they trying to like reboot it with that or no?
• 35:14
Joe: Um they were they're almost gonna from what I heard, they were almost gonna put Joker and that Batman together, but they didn't.
• 35:23
Joe: Um but that is a whole like the patent Battenson stuff um uh was all like its own independent stories.
• 35:37
Joe: And I know there was supposed to be a connection with um the Batgirl that that got cancelled.
• 35:43
  Dylan: Oh, okay.
• 35:44
Joe: Uh, because the same commissioner Gordon was the dad of that batgirl, yeah.
• 35:50
  Joe: Yeah.
• 35:50
Joe: And that's another thing about Dark Knight too, is that you hear, you know, they show Barbara, you know, yeah.
• 35:57
Joe: And like and they talk about they mention characters in there without overdoing it.
• 36:03
Joe: Um, and so you like you see Barbara and you're like, oh, she's gonna be Batgirl someday.
• 36:09
  Joe: Yeah.
• 36:11
Joe: So it's just these little Easter eggs of if you know the Batverse.
• 36:17
Dylan: Well, that is all the time we have for today.
