- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an unspoiled network podcast. This is spoil Me
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one piece episodes where are We at Now eight
- 0:15Speaker 1: forty two through eight forty four. This is being listed
- 0:20Speaker 1: on crunchyl as season eleven, which I hadn't noticed. The
- 0:24Speaker 1: execution begins, Lufy's allied forces are annihilated, the castle collapses,
- 0:30Speaker 1: the straw hats, great escape begins, and the Spear of
- 0:35Speaker 1: eldef onslaught the flying Big Mom. In these episodes, Big
- 0:44Speaker 1: Mom trades one type of tantrum for another, which, frankly,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I know I talk a lot about how relatable I
- 0:54Speaker 1: find her, but like never more so than this. Welcome
- 1:00Speaker 1: to spoil Me. Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Mina for commissioning this episode. Lena,
- 1:26Speaker 1: I don't know if you're out there, but thank you
- 1:29Speaker 1: very much for your commission. Appreciates you a lot. And
- 1:33Speaker 1: Florian is here in the chat. What's up, bun So? Yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 1: this is a pretty wild section. There were some parts
- 1:43Speaker 1: of it that were really really funny too, and then
- 1:45Speaker 1: there are parts of it that I was sort of like,
- 1:49Speaker 1: oh man, can we catch a break? But I never
- 1:52Speaker 1: Once again, I just want to say that, like, the
- 1:55Speaker 1: pacing so far has still felt pretty solid to me.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I never found myself bored. I was never looking at
- 2:04Speaker 1: like at my phone because I had completely tuned out.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I was just I feel like, you know, we've been
- 2:11Speaker 1: really steadily moving from one plot beat to another, and
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm sure that we're eventually going to encounter a section
- 2:20Speaker 1: that's going to be absolutely loaded with like flashback stuff
- 2:24Speaker 1: and whatnot, But at the moment, I'm still pretty engaged.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I think part of it too, is that when you
- 2:34Speaker 1: when you reach in these arcs, like there's the whole
- 2:38Speaker 1: preliminary section, whenever you come into a new arc, first
- 2:43Speaker 1: we have to encounter the problem. Our straw hats have
- 2:46Speaker 1: to run into that problem themselves, They have to witness
- 2:51Speaker 1: it happening to other people, whatever it is. They have
- 2:54Speaker 1: to figure out where that problem originates, they devise a
- 2:58Speaker 1: plan to deal with it. And then each of our
- 3:02Speaker 1: people has to clash with different people from the enemy's side.
- 3:07Speaker 1: And then lastly we have Loofy himself clashing with whoever
- 3:13Speaker 1: is the head of the group. And I think that
- 3:18Speaker 1: really when the momentum slows down tends to be when
- 3:23Speaker 1: we're down to just Loofy, he this is gonna be
- 3:27Speaker 1: This is gonna be a statement that I feel like
- 3:31Speaker 1: it seems controversial to make, but if you're part of
- 3:35Speaker 1: the fandom, you're probably going, oh no, everybody kind of
- 3:38Speaker 1: agrees with this. I don't know, maybe not, but like
- 3:41Speaker 1: I would be curious to know Loofy. While a very
- 3:49Speaker 1: fun character and while the beating heart of the straw Hats,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I am not here for him. I am not as
- 4:01Speaker 1: invested in him personally as I am in some of
- 4:06Speaker 1: the other side characters. And I just don't think that
- 4:12Speaker 1: he can really carry a whole plot by himself. And
- 4:20Speaker 1: I think that's why things tend to really like hit
- 4:23Speaker 1: the brakes when it's just him versus the baddie, because
- 4:29Speaker 1: what you get is always the same no matter who
- 4:33Speaker 1: the baddy is. Lufy is never going to change his approach.
- 4:38Speaker 1: He is always going to be the indefatigable one track,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'll beat you, You'll see, and that's it, and that's
- 4:48Speaker 1: always what he does. And like, yes, this is partially
- 4:52Speaker 1: what we like about him, you know, the fact that
- 4:54Speaker 1: he is that fucking he's that bitch every time. But
- 4:59Speaker 1: it does make so that inevitably once you hit the
- 5:03Speaker 1: part of the arc where it's just the two big,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you know, fighters up against each other. It makes it
- 5:10Speaker 1: so that the villain kind of has to carry everything
- 5:15Speaker 1: because Loofy doesn't bring a lot to the table in
- 5:19Speaker 1: that respect. With you know, there are some exceptions where
- 5:23Speaker 1: he'll do some things that are surprising, or he'll have
- 5:25Speaker 1: like a new move, but even that can only do
- 5:28Speaker 1: so much. And I think that you know that, being
- 5:36Speaker 1: who he is, combined with the fact that the show
- 5:40Speaker 1: often needs to stretch for time, they decide to stretch
- 5:46Speaker 1: that spot the Loofy fight rather than other areas, probably
- 5:53Speaker 1: because it's cheaper to stretch right here in this area
- 5:57Speaker 1: where only two voice actors are really a lot of
- 6:00Speaker 1: the time, versus stretching it out in a place where
- 6:04Speaker 1: there are there is a lot more involvement from multiple characters,
- 6:08Speaker 1: because now we have to pay a whole team of
- 6:10Speaker 1: voice actors for all of these different scenes. This is
- 6:14Speaker 1: an assumption I'm making. I really admit, like, I don't
- 6:17Speaker 1: know this, but this is what I would think based
- 6:20Speaker 1: on the way stuff like this tends to work. So
- 6:24Speaker 1: you stretch in an area that has like a has
- 6:29Speaker 1: fewer people involved, and probably in a place that you
- 6:33Speaker 1: can reuse the animation over and over again from certain spots,
- 6:41Speaker 1: because if it's Louvi versus do Flamingo, for example, I
- 6:46Speaker 1: would be very surprised if you watch closely, if they
- 6:53Speaker 1: hadn't reused animation during that fight many times over and
- 6:59Speaker 1: maybe just like put something slightly different going on in
- 7:03Speaker 1: the foreground or whatever, you know what I mean. So anyway, this, uh,
- 7:10Speaker 1: it's like, again I don't dislike Loofy, but having him
- 7:16Speaker 1: be our main guy, I it's it's a weird place
- 7:24Speaker 1: that I'm in with him, because it's like, I understand
- 7:29Speaker 1: having somebody like this be how what everything is sort
- 7:32Speaker 1: of centered around when you're beginning a story, but the
- 7:37Speaker 1: world has grown to such a degree and so many
- 7:40Speaker 1: of the characters are have had such arcs, and Loofy
- 7:49Speaker 1: feels in many ways exactly as he always has. And
- 7:57Speaker 1: I like, that's not to say he hasn't grown at all,
- 8:01Speaker 1: but a lot of the time it just doesn't feel
- 8:04Speaker 1: like there's all that much. So yeah, it's just a
- 8:09Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm seeing that Florian posted something in
- 8:13Speaker 1: the chat because now it says message deleted, So I'm
- 8:17Speaker 1: wondering Florian what happened there unless he felt he was
- 8:22Speaker 1: spoiling me or something maybe, but yeah, So anyway, all
- 8:27Speaker 1: this to say, we're still in the part of the
- 8:30Speaker 1: story where all of our friends are still involved, where
- 8:33Speaker 1: a lot of other baddies are involved, and so I
- 8:36Speaker 1: have been feeling like the pacing is quite solid, but
- 8:39Speaker 1: I recognize that we are probably approaching the part of
- 8:43Speaker 1: the story that where the pacing begins to slow, and
- 8:48Speaker 1: maybe I'm going to have a few complaints about it,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and we'll see, And it's just like hopefully the uh
- 8:58Speaker 1: setting and how a lot of things like work here
- 9:01Speaker 1: on Holcake Island will make up for some of it.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Maybe some of Big Mom's like abilities will like things
- 9:09Speaker 1: you haven't seen before. Who knows. But let's actually like
- 9:14Speaker 1: get into these episodes. Uh, the execution begins. Lufy's allied
- 9:20Speaker 1: forces are annihilated, and this is one where like we
- 9:25Speaker 1: really do see everybody doing extremely poorly, and at one
- 9:29Speaker 1: point it's just Caesar looking around being like, oh my god,
- 9:33Speaker 1: everybody on my side has gone down, Like what happened?
- 9:38Speaker 1: He's truly panicking, And you know, I'm gonna just talk
- 9:45Speaker 1: about like Caesar in general for a minute with these
- 9:49Speaker 1: three episodes, because I just fucking love him so much.
- 9:54Speaker 1: He sucks so bad, and like it's sort of the guys.
- 10:00Speaker 1: There is a part later he eventually gets his heart back. Uh.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Beija keeps his end of the bargain. Caesar has helped
- 10:08Speaker 1: them dumb what he said he would do, and Beija
- 10:11Speaker 1: hands him his heart, and Caesar decides now is the
- 10:16Speaker 1: time because he doesn't have anything to lose. Now where
- 10:21Speaker 1: he could just yell what an idiot everybody is? What
- 10:24Speaker 1: absolute fucking morons and they're ignoring him, and at one
- 10:29Speaker 1: point he just yells, hey, pay attention to me. And
- 10:33Speaker 1: they go on chatting. It's pretty much Nami and Beje
- 10:36Speaker 1: in conversation, and he's continuing to sort of rant in
- 10:42Speaker 1: the background with his volume slightly lower, but you know
- 10:45Speaker 1: he's there. And as they continue to talk, he just
- 10:50Speaker 1: yells at one point, will somebody please validate me? And
- 10:57Speaker 1: I really lost it. I was laughing hard at that one,
- 11:02Speaker 1: will someone please validate me? And he's so dead serious
- 11:07Speaker 1: the way he delivers that line. This is going in
- 11:10Speaker 1: my personal arsenal. I am absolutely just going to yell,
- 11:14Speaker 1: will somebody please validate me? At some point when I'm like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean, I just yeah, this is
- 11:19Speaker 1: so funny to me. Florian says, you hate him, but
- 11:24Speaker 1: you love him as a character exactly like he's just
- 11:29Speaker 1: and I love the voice actor because I think it's like,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I may be wrong about this, but I have been
- 11:35Speaker 1: thinking that it's the same voice actor as the guy
- 11:37Speaker 1: who does Brook. Maybe I'm wrong, but this whole time
- 11:40Speaker 1: I've been sort of assuming that, and you know, like
- 11:44Speaker 1: guy's just very good. He's just quite good. So anyway,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I just really like every time we see Caesar involved
- 11:54Speaker 1: in this section, I keep being tempted to assume he's
- 11:59Speaker 1: going to act in bad faith, forgetting that they literally
- 12:03Speaker 1: have his heart, and so he's really got no choice
- 12:05Speaker 1: but to go along to get along now that he
- 12:10Speaker 1: has his heart back, they're not out of the woods yet,
- 12:14Speaker 1: both literally and figuratively. So I really wonder if he's
- 12:18Speaker 1: still going to wind up betraying them after all, because
- 12:21Speaker 1: it feels like now's the time. However, I have to
- 12:27Speaker 1: assume it's going to be a sort of circumstantial thing.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I don't think he wants to betray them out of
- 12:32Speaker 1: the gate, because if he were to betray them, he
- 12:36Speaker 1: would be rescued by big Mom who expects him to
- 12:40Speaker 1: do something that he knows perfectly well he can't do,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and that is this like embiginning potion. You know. Still
- 12:51Speaker 1: I'm hoping that he'll just like have the presence of
- 12:55Speaker 1: mine to know where his bread is buttered, as they say.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But uh, you know, Caesar isn't well known for being
- 13:04Speaker 1: really present of mind, so probably that's a false hope. Florian.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm just I'm so sorry. I am so distracted by
- 13:13Speaker 1: that deleted message. What did you say? So the way
- 13:21Speaker 1: that these fights, like everybody is sort of dealing with
- 13:24Speaker 1: a separate thing, a separate enemy here, and we still
- 13:31Speaker 1: have this whole other subplot that's going on with the
- 13:35Speaker 1: Tama tep box sort of in the background of everything,
- 13:40Speaker 1: And you guys, I wasn't expecting it to be what
- 13:49Speaker 1: it is, a bomb? We find out eventually, which is uh,
- 13:57Speaker 1: I like, is this question I don't know if you
- 14:00Speaker 1: even know the answer. Was Oda planning on this being
- 14:03Speaker 1: a bomb from the beginning or did he plant the
- 14:06Speaker 1: idea and decide I'll figure out what's in the box
- 14:09Speaker 1: later as the uh, what's the word I want? As
- 14:15Speaker 1: the situation requires whatever it is I need. I'll make
- 14:20Speaker 1: that be what was in the box? Florian said, I
- 14:25Speaker 1: thought you would say something and said something different about
- 14:27Speaker 1: Lufy and yeah, it needed to go because I could
- 14:30Speaker 1: not stand behind. Oh so you were agreeing with me
- 14:36Speaker 1: as I was sort of like, you know, talking shit,
- 14:40Speaker 1: and you didn't realize that I was going to talk
- 14:41Speaker 1: shit about him, which is very that's very funny. Okay, fair,
- 14:49Speaker 1: But yeah, like I I the Tomat box and we
- 14:53Speaker 1: have a kind of a funny flashback where the King
- 14:58Speaker 1: of the Fishmen is he is oh yeah, okay, Floria
- 15:04Speaker 1: is saying, we knew it was in the box back
- 15:05Speaker 1: in Fishman Island. I didn't realize that this flashback we
- 15:09Speaker 1: had seen the whole conversation. I didn't remember that. I
- 15:13Speaker 1: thought that this flashback was giving us some new information.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I didn't remember that, like we had seen this whole thing.
- 15:19Speaker 1: But uh, the response of the king hit me as
- 15:25Speaker 1: quite funny this time in him just being like, oh
- 15:28Speaker 1: it's a bomb. Huh, Well maybe it just doesn't work anymore,
- 15:36Speaker 1: so what's for lunch? And we just like move on
- 15:40Speaker 1: and bruh that king is you love him, But dude,
- 15:47Speaker 1: how are you in charge? Florian says most people forgot
- 15:52Speaker 1: at this point, but is fun on a rewatch. Yeah.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I feel like if you know it's a bomb, that
- 15:58Speaker 1: scene where it falls off the side of a cliff
- 16:00Speaker 1: might give you a small heart attack because like you
- 16:04Speaker 1: would probably assume that's what's going to set it off,
- 16:07Speaker 1: you know. But yeah, this like everybody is getting their
- 16:17Speaker 1: asses handed to them and it turns out that this
- 16:23Speaker 1: bomb existing. It's like the dau six mackinna I guess
- 16:32Speaker 1: where all of our friends are definitely outmatched and if
- 16:37Speaker 1: it hadn't been for this thing, they would have been
- 16:39Speaker 1: crushed to a pulp. And I like this just because
- 16:45Speaker 1: if everybody had been able to defeat all of the minions,
- 16:51Speaker 1: it wouldn't have rung quite true. Our people are badasses,
- 16:58Speaker 1: don't get me wrong, but like Big Mom and her
- 17:00Speaker 1: folks are at the top of the food chain out
- 17:03Speaker 1: here and no offense to our guys, but they are
- 17:08Speaker 1: not really quite yet at that level. If I if
- 17:13Speaker 1: I am supposed to be intimidated by Big Mom's forces,
- 17:18Speaker 1: I can't be if they're defeated, like on our first try,
- 17:23Speaker 1: that easily. So having there be something that causes so
- 17:28Speaker 1: much chaos that it kind of like wipes the board
- 17:32Speaker 1: clean and we start from scratch. Is really the only
- 17:35Speaker 1: way to handle this kind of confrontation without it being
- 17:39Speaker 1: a complete bloodbath, which we know Oda He's never gonna
- 17:44Speaker 1: kill almost anybody, so that's unlikely. Florian said, Oda doesn't
- 17:52Speaker 1: do this a lot, so he gets them now. And
- 17:54Speaker 1: then in my book, yeah, it's fine, Like I really
- 17:58Speaker 1: this is I don't have any problem with it. I
- 18:00Speaker 1: actually thought it was kind of a clever move, and
- 18:05Speaker 1: it's it's so what what winds up happening is that
- 18:12Speaker 1: the bomb goes off and the entire chateau is leveled,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and we get this long sequence of all of the
- 18:20Speaker 1: different towers of the chateau falling and crashing down. And
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm not going to surprise any of you
- 18:32Speaker 1: by saying I loved this sequence. It's not like I
- 18:38Speaker 1: love seeing the chateauget knocked down, because even though it
- 18:41Speaker 1: is big Mom's chateau and I should probably be delighting
- 18:45Speaker 1: in its destruction, I can't. I can't really because it's
- 18:50Speaker 1: so cool. I hate to see this. But on the
- 18:53Speaker 1: other hand, I will admit that like actually getting to
- 18:58Speaker 1: see all of the individu jewel towers and the way
- 19:01Speaker 1: that they are designed. They're so pretty. Like we get
- 19:06Speaker 1: one that has it's topped with a cupcake, we get
- 19:09Speaker 1: one that's topped with what looks to be like a
- 19:11Speaker 1: kind of cream tart with strawberries on it. There's a
- 19:16Speaker 1: few towers that look like they're topped with like China
- 19:19Speaker 1: teacups in saucers. It's just really pretty. Everything is falling down,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh no, but the views that we
- 19:29Speaker 1: had gotten before didn't really showcase how pretty everything was
- 19:35Speaker 1: as much as getting to see them falling down does.
- 19:38Speaker 1: So a part of me was like, oh, I hate
- 19:40Speaker 1: to see this, but it is also just kind of
- 19:42Speaker 1: cool to see in general, and I just like this
- 19:47Speaker 1: aesthetic is not going to get old to me. It's
- 19:48Speaker 1: the sort of thing where I know in the end,
- 19:51Speaker 1: Big Mom is going to have to be defeated, but
- 19:53Speaker 1: there is something in me going, can we just keep
- 19:56Speaker 1: this place looking like this? Though? Like, can we have
- 20:00Speaker 1: somebody else in charge but keep this place this awesome
- 20:03Speaker 1: like food and dessert theme? Because I really hate to
- 20:08Speaker 1: let go of this. I'm sure there is somebody like
- 20:14Speaker 1: in the vicinity who is somewhat saying who can make
- 20:18Speaker 1: that happen, so as everything is falling down, it's really
- 20:23Speaker 1: beginning to look like her entire family is going to
- 20:26Speaker 1: be crushed under the weight of this falling building. And
- 20:31Speaker 1: then we get Strusol jumping into the mix, and he
- 20:37Speaker 1: is the chef, this little guy, and he begins to
- 20:41Speaker 1: sort of like weirdly harness one of the big central
- 20:46Speaker 1: points of the building as it's falling, and I'm watching
- 20:50Speaker 1: this kind of going, wait a minute, what is it
- 20:53Speaker 1: that he's doing. Like, obviously he's turning out to be
- 20:58Speaker 1: more cape that I was expecting, But I didn't get
- 21:04Speaker 1: what I don't think we knew what his power was.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Yet maybe we did and I'd just forgotten. Either way,
- 21:11Speaker 1: I was sort of like, exactly what is happening here?
- 21:14Speaker 1: And we finally find out that he has turned the
- 21:19Speaker 1: whole building into a cake and made it soft so
- 21:24Speaker 1: that when they get hit by it, it just it's
- 21:26Speaker 1: just cream and breaks apart and it's not blocks of
- 21:32Speaker 1: stone and whatnot. And unfortunately, and this was so disappointing
- 21:38Speaker 1: to me. Unfortunately, Big Mom she takes a bite after
- 21:43Speaker 1: it's like hit her and goes and like spits it out,
- 21:50Speaker 1: and she says, I always forget that Strussil's ability like
- 21:57Speaker 1: to turn every to turn things into sweets works really well.
- 22:02Speaker 1: But the stuff that he makes with his power does
- 22:06Speaker 1: not taste very good. That is such a bummer. Why not?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Why can't it just taste good? Really, the answer is
- 22:17Speaker 1: it can't taste good because Big Mom's temper tantrum wouldn't
- 22:23Speaker 1: happen then, or it wouldn't really make as much sense.
- 22:26Speaker 1: But what we get here is her like tasting the
- 22:30Speaker 1: shitty cake that he made, and then it puts her
- 22:35Speaker 1: in mind of the incredible wedding cake and how it
- 22:40Speaker 1: was like so much work and all of the top
- 22:44Speaker 1: quality ingredients that had to be collected to make it happen.
- 22:49Speaker 1: And this sends her completely spiraling again, and she gets
- 22:54Speaker 1: that red eyed, craving face on, and you know, I'm
- 23:02Speaker 1: watching this and I'm seeing her face transform, and I'm
- 23:05Speaker 1: just like, ah, really, now you're doing this now? Which
- 23:11Speaker 1: if there isn't like there, there have been some times
- 23:16Speaker 1: where I've been sort of like, are these fits really
- 23:20Speaker 1: totally out of Big Mom's control or does she have
- 23:24Speaker 1: some control that she could exercise And she doesn't because
- 23:27Speaker 1: she doesn't have to because she's more powerful than anybody
- 23:31Speaker 1: she's ever met. I think this probably is really out
- 23:38Speaker 1: of her control, because otherwise now I think she would
- 23:43Speaker 1: agree is a very inconvenient time for this to strike,
- 23:47Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. It just seems to me
- 23:49Speaker 1: that the Big Mom that we just saw before this
- 23:56Speaker 1: overtakes her was fixated on tracking Loofy and his friends
- 24:01Speaker 1: down and fucking handling some shit, and now she's being
- 24:05Speaker 1: distracted by this cake craving. And I can't imagine that
- 24:08Speaker 1: she's happy about this either, you know, I just assume
- 24:13Speaker 1: she really would like to be able to focus and
- 24:16Speaker 1: she simply can't help this, which that doesn't excuse her exactly.
- 24:21Speaker 1: It kind of does, I guess, but like it does
- 24:23Speaker 1: make me feel a little bad for her in this
- 24:25Speaker 1: really weird way, And it's how I've been feeling like
- 24:30Speaker 1: it's it's a weird thing with Big Mom because a
- 24:33Speaker 1: part of you does understand that a lot of this
- 24:39Speaker 1: is out of her control, and you can pity her
- 24:43Speaker 1: for that, but it doesn't change the way that she
- 24:48Speaker 1: behaves when she is out of these states, the way
- 24:53Speaker 1: that she comports herself when she is in control. She's
- 24:57Speaker 1: still this like monstrous personal So you know ooh Demian
- 25:05Speaker 1: is in the chat Hi Demian. It was necessary, But
- 25:08Speaker 1: mostly I feel sorry for Big Mom's army of cooks
- 25:10Speaker 1: in her tax space because you just know she'll have
- 25:13Speaker 1: them rebuild it. Considering how many islands burn to make
- 25:16Speaker 1: the wedding cake, the rebuilding will probably be brutal. Yeah,
- 25:20Speaker 1: it's the ransacking of all those islands for the ingredients
- 25:24Speaker 1: has really stuck with me. And we eventually get this
- 25:29Speaker 1: revelation later from putting that there are extra ingredients that
- 25:33Speaker 1: were set aside, so they aren't going to have to
- 25:36Speaker 1: send out rating parties or anything. But it is still
- 25:41Speaker 1: just like, you know, the devastation wreaked his substantial. Florian
- 25:48Speaker 1: says he has the food food fruit. I think things
- 25:51Speaker 1: he cuts turn into any food he wants. Oh, any food. Okay.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I thought he could only turn things into like sweets,
- 25:59Speaker 1: but okay, so he can make them turn into any food. Hmm,
- 26:03Speaker 1: all right, that's convenient. That's a I mean, even if
- 26:08Speaker 1: things don't taste very good, like, it's a very practical
- 26:11Speaker 1: helpful skill to have. So this whole lake, uh, this
- 26:22Speaker 1: whole tantrum that she's having, it's interesting because it buys
- 26:28Speaker 1: the straw hats a little bit more time as well,
- 26:32Speaker 1: since her family are the people who were closest to
- 26:35Speaker 1: her when she goes into this state, they are the
- 26:39Speaker 1: ones that are bearing the brunt of it initially, and
- 26:43Speaker 1: we get what's the name of the dude that's got
- 26:46Speaker 1: the tongue the licked tongue thing going on. He decides
- 26:51Speaker 1: that what he's gonna do is lie and tell her
- 26:55Speaker 1: that they do have a cake that's made of all
- 26:59Speaker 1: the bets ingredients just waiting for her, and his siblings
- 27:04Speaker 1: are going, Dude, if you lie, she will find out
- 27:09Speaker 1: and she will lose her shit on you. But he
- 27:13Speaker 1: seems to be like, well, we'll figure that out later.
- 27:16Speaker 1: What we need to do right now is just mitigate
- 27:19Speaker 1: this lady completely going off the rails, which, like, I
- 27:24Speaker 1: get why you would do this, but as somebody who
- 27:27Speaker 1: always feels like the truth will come to light, I
- 27:32Speaker 1: don't think that I would take this risk. And even
- 27:36Speaker 1: afterward it seems like he kind of feels that maybe
- 27:38Speaker 1: he shouldn't have, but he didn't know what else to
- 27:41Speaker 1: do in the moment, and Paraspero says, Florian, Okay, thank you.
- 27:48Speaker 1: He uh. This is this is when putting swoops in
- 27:55Speaker 1: and tells everybody that there are supplies and that you
- 28:01Speaker 1: guys may not know this, but the cake was a
- 28:03Speaker 1: chocolate chiffon cake, and if you don't remember, chocolate is
- 28:09Speaker 1: my arena and we can remake this cake. We do
- 28:14Speaker 1: have other supplies that have been set aside. And I
- 28:21Speaker 1: was humiliated by Sanji and she is going to go
- 28:27Speaker 1: rereak revenge for me, and the least I can do
- 28:31Speaker 1: if she's going to do this is make her a cake.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Oh my god, you guys, is she telling you the truth?
- 28:41Speaker 1: I just don't think so. I think she has proven
- 28:46Speaker 1: to be a really good actress, you know, like we
- 28:49Speaker 1: have seen how incredibly convincing she was over the course
- 28:55Speaker 1: of several, like several dozen episodes at this point, So
- 29:05Speaker 1: if she is lying, I wouldn't be able to tell
- 29:08Speaker 1: in the context of the show. There here's here is
- 29:14Speaker 1: something that like and you'll know what I mean, guys,
- 29:18Speaker 1: that can be sort of tricky to navigate. And it
- 29:20Speaker 1: is when somebody in a show is meant to be
- 29:27Speaker 1: a really good liar versus when somebody is simply not
- 29:35Speaker 1: that great an actor in reality. And this tends to
- 29:39Speaker 1: be more of a thing when you're dealing with like
- 29:41Speaker 1: live action. But what I mean by this is the
- 29:47Speaker 1: voice actress who is doing putting. She is a very
- 29:53Speaker 1: good voice actress and is very convincing as both versions
- 29:59Speaker 1: of pudding. And so when Putting is like, you know,
- 30:05Speaker 1: speaking quote truthfully, I am startled by, like, oh my god,
- 30:10Speaker 1: I was so taken in. She really had me fooled.
- 30:14Speaker 1: But there are times where you will have like a
- 30:17Speaker 1: character that's meant to be a good liar, but you
- 30:21Speaker 1: can see through it because they're not. The actor isn't
- 30:24Speaker 1: quite up for it, or isn't quite convincing, and so
- 30:28Speaker 1: later it'll be sort of revealed like a big ha ha,
- 30:32Speaker 1: but you knew because they weren't that good, and so
- 30:38Speaker 1: it's hard to tell, like was it in the in
- 30:42Speaker 1: the text itself? Was I supposed to have been putting
- 30:45Speaker 1: this together the way that I did? Or was this
- 30:48Speaker 1: actually meant to be a big twist? You know? And
- 30:53Speaker 1: where I'm sitting right now is like she has been
- 30:57Speaker 1: so consistently convincing that I can't trust my own eyes
- 31:03Speaker 1: when it comes to her, because in this scene she
- 31:07Speaker 1: seems genuinely really pissed. But what she describes is that
- 31:11Speaker 1: Sanji humiliated me, and then we get the flashback to
- 31:14Speaker 1: him saying, who, like, why were you hiding such a
- 31:18Speaker 1: beautiful eye or something like that, And it doesn't to
- 31:25Speaker 1: me seem as if that is humiliation. But the thing
- 31:32Speaker 1: about when you've got your feelings in it, and when
- 31:37Speaker 1: you have been subjected to a lot of like bullying
- 31:40Speaker 1: and harassment about something, the thing about it is that
- 31:45Speaker 1: you can get extremely sensitive to any mention of the
- 31:49Speaker 1: thing and will interpret stuff as being like upsetting even
- 31:57Speaker 1: if it wasn't intended that way, because you have your
- 31:59Speaker 1: own baggage around it, you know. So I see that
- 32:05Speaker 1: moment and I'm just like, he didn't humiliate you, what
- 32:09Speaker 1: are you talking about? And that instantly has me going, Okay,
- 32:13Speaker 1: she's full of shit, and I have to remind myself, like,
- 32:16Speaker 1: it doesn't make sense to me. But she might still
- 32:20Speaker 1: be being honest about this, because we don't always respond
- 32:24Speaker 1: rationally to things regarding something that we have trauma around.
- 32:31Speaker 1: It's just, you know, it would be great if we did,
- 32:33Speaker 1: if we were all rational all the time, but it
- 32:36Speaker 1: doesn't work that way, and it might just be that
- 32:38Speaker 1: she genuinely really doesn't know how to react to what
- 32:42Speaker 1: Soanji said, And so now she's defaulting to what she
- 32:47Speaker 1: always has in the past, which is to go on
- 32:49Speaker 1: the offensive and to you know, like attack him before
- 32:54Speaker 1: he can make her feel terrible. Florian says, putting is
- 33:00Speaker 1: great as a character had the same thoughts you have
- 33:03Speaker 1: at this point. Love it. Demian says, I think the
- 33:06Speaker 1: trick is she hasn't yet made up her mind whether
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's a lie or not. She's a delightful little psychopath.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I like that idea, actually, Demian, that she's like saying
- 33:14Speaker 1: this all to them and she hasn't herself like settled
- 33:18Speaker 1: on exactly how she's feeling about the whole thing, because
- 33:21Speaker 1: that is sort of what can happen, you know. And
- 33:26Speaker 1: also there's like the other factor is you can feel
- 33:31Speaker 1: something like a way about things at one moment and
- 33:33Speaker 1: then later change how you're feeling, and you could take
- 33:38Speaker 1: offense at something, and then once you've had time to
- 33:41Speaker 1: think about it, be like, actually, I don't think they
- 33:43Speaker 1: meant it like that. Or you can take something at
- 33:45Speaker 1: face value and not be offended, and then later you
- 33:48Speaker 1: think it over and you're like, wait, I think they
- 33:51Speaker 1: meant to insult me, and I just didn't pick up
- 33:53Speaker 1: on it until now, so you know, there's all kinds
- 33:57Speaker 1: of things spinning there. I am choosing at this point
- 34:05Speaker 1: to believe that putting means to double cross Mom, that
- 34:12Speaker 1: she is offering to help, and that she is going
- 34:15Speaker 1: to make this cake, that she's going to appear on
- 34:18Speaker 1: every level to be trying to help, and then at
- 34:22Speaker 1: the last moment, she's gonna do something I don't know,
- 34:26Speaker 1: poison the cake. Maybe, Like that's the only thing at
- 34:31Speaker 1: this point that I think would even work, because this
- 34:34Speaker 1: is something that we haven't really like talked over, guys.
- 34:37Speaker 1: But the one time that Big Mom was supposed to
- 34:41Speaker 1: be vulnerable to attack was when she saw the portrait
- 34:49Speaker 1: of her mother destroyed. She was supposed to not have
- 34:56Speaker 1: the vulnerability or the invulnerability that she normally had, and
- 35:03Speaker 1: maybe she didn't. It's hard to know, because we fired
- 35:06Speaker 1: missiles at her and they exploded before they even got
- 35:09Speaker 1: to her. So like, it's certainly possible that if they
- 35:12Speaker 1: had hit they would have damaged her, But I would
- 35:16Speaker 1: argue the fact that they exploded before even reaching her
- 35:20Speaker 1: indicates that she's not as vulnerable as we had thought
- 35:24Speaker 1: at this moment. So now the question is what could
- 35:30Speaker 1: possibly hurt her, and poison is the obvious answer, in
- 35:36Speaker 1: that it is something she would have to eat. I
- 35:39Speaker 1: don't think anything from the outside in is going to work.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I think Big Mom has to be killed from the
- 35:48Speaker 1: inside out. She is so into food that putting something
- 35:53Speaker 1: in her food is probably the only way. I say this,
- 35:58Speaker 1: like because of the sort of rules that I'm following
- 36:03Speaker 1: mentally in storytelling terms. However, even as confident as I
- 36:11Speaker 1: feel in saying this, I add the caveat of I
- 36:17Speaker 1: do not know what kind of poison or how much
- 36:21Speaker 1: would be effective, because this lady is such a freak,
- 36:27Speaker 1: Like there is no other word for it. Big Mom's
- 36:30Speaker 1: a freak. She like this is all the stuff that
- 36:34Speaker 1: I have assumed about her came from eating a devil fruit.
- 36:41Speaker 1: We wind up finding out from the flashbacks this is
- 36:44Speaker 1: just how she was born. And then the other powers
- 36:48Speaker 1: thing are those are from the devil fruit, but a
- 36:50Speaker 1: lot of other aspects, like her incredible strength and these
- 36:54Speaker 1: fugue states, and her appetite and her in vulnerable ability.
- 37:01Speaker 1: It's all just how she is from birth. And if
- 37:07Speaker 1: that is so, I am going to also assume she's
- 37:13Speaker 1: going to be more resistant to poison than the average person.
- 37:20Speaker 1: It may not be so that might not be true,
- 37:23Speaker 1: but I just feel like I've got to operate on
- 37:27Speaker 1: some level of like adding extra margins for her, because
- 37:33Speaker 1: it just seems like they exist everywhere else, you know.
- 37:38Speaker 1: So if we were to poison her, how much would
- 37:42Speaker 1: we have to give her? And would she be able
- 37:47Speaker 1: to tell? That's the other question is if you're dealing
- 37:50Speaker 1: with somebody who is a real foodie and you load
- 37:56Speaker 1: something up with a poison that's like, you know, the
- 38:00Speaker 1: flavor becomes noticeable the more you put in. She might
- 38:04Speaker 1: stop and spit it out and be like, what's wrong
- 38:06Speaker 1: with this? This is something that's always occurred to me
- 38:09Speaker 1: with there are multiple episodes of different true crimes where
- 38:15Speaker 1: someone was poisoned with sleeping pills ground up into their coffee,
- 38:21Speaker 1: or there's one where this uh woman loaded up rat
- 38:29Speaker 1: poison in her husband's like protein shake, and I always
- 38:35Speaker 1: am like, did you not taste that? That's got to
- 38:38Speaker 1: be really bitter and you must, like, you know, And
- 38:43Speaker 1: at times they do and they stop drinking it and
- 38:46Speaker 1: they wind up with like some damage, but they don't
- 38:48Speaker 1: wind up dead, which is what had been intended. So
- 38:53Speaker 1: I just like, I don't know the way that this
- 38:56Speaker 1: would work, and I have to assume I can't be
- 39:00Speaker 1: the first person to have thought of this, right, somebody
- 39:03Speaker 1: has to have attempted to poison her up until now.
- 39:06Speaker 1: There's got to be a person out there that's done that.
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's too obvious her weakness is food. Do something with that,
- 39:13Speaker 1: and I feel like everybody would see that as the
- 39:17Speaker 1: approach to take. So if so, how did that go?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Exactly what happened? What weren't wrong? Because it clearly didn't work.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Did they get caught? You know what happened? Did she
- 39:29Speaker 1: simply get sick and they assumed like it was due
- 39:32Speaker 1: to something else? And the people who had hoped she
- 39:34Speaker 1: would die just sort of like sailed off, going, shit,
- 39:38Speaker 1: it didn't work, you know, Like I'm I want to know,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I want to know. I'm sorry guys that. Like, I'm
- 39:46Speaker 1: talking here about lots of hypothetical things, and I haven't
- 39:50Speaker 1: talked as much about the individual like fights in these
- 39:54Speaker 1: three episodes, but honestly, I feel like the fights are
- 39:58Speaker 1: the least interesting thing, and you know, they pretty much
- 40:04Speaker 1: like go the way you expect because everybody gets their
- 40:06Speaker 1: ass handed to them in the end. What we eventually
- 40:09Speaker 1: have happened is everybody piles into Beajet's belly to escape
- 40:17Speaker 1: because Caesar manages to like get all of them to Beje,
- 40:23Speaker 1: and Beje runs out toward the the edge of the
- 40:28Speaker 1: island near the Seducing woods and kicks them all out.
- 40:32Speaker 1: It was very funny. He's just like, this is far enough,
- 40:35Speaker 1: get out, and they all just come flying out of
- 40:37Speaker 1: his gut, and Chopper does like a cartwheel. Chopper just
- 40:43Speaker 1: looks weirdly excited and happy as he's coming out. And
- 40:50Speaker 1: this is the point. They're like standing around talking about
- 40:53Speaker 1: what they're gonna do next, and Beje is saying, you
- 40:57Speaker 1: guys are gonna have to if you want to stay
- 40:59Speaker 1: here and face up on her, you're gonna have to
- 41:01Speaker 1: do it alone because I'm out of here. And he
- 41:05Speaker 1: turns himself into a tank and he puts a sign
- 41:10Speaker 1: in the ground that says the straw hats all went
- 41:13Speaker 1: that way, and they are like, oh, come on, man,
- 41:20Speaker 1: But I was sort of like, well then you just
- 41:22Speaker 1: don't go that way, guys. Why did Like he's sort
- 41:27Speaker 1: of making a joke about how he can never do
- 41:30Speaker 1: like a good deed and that he finds it disgusting.
- 41:33Speaker 1: But I was like, well, he's put this sign here
- 41:36Speaker 1: and you're still standing here. You could just choose to
- 41:38Speaker 1: go a different direction. It's fine exactly. Florien's like, I
- 41:45Speaker 1: mean they could turn the sign exactly. I don't know
- 41:47Speaker 1: if maybe it's supposed to be that, like his ability
- 41:50Speaker 1: makes it that it's immovable, but I don't see why
- 41:54Speaker 1: that should be. So yeah, move the sign, and if
- 41:57Speaker 1: it is immovable, you can just go a different direction.
- 42:00Speaker 1: And the sign says. Meanwhile, his wife and Veto are
- 42:05Speaker 1: still inside him and they are looking out the little
- 42:09Speaker 1: window seeing that he is like ditching the straw hats,
- 42:13Speaker 1: and they're pissed because they wanted to actually get to
- 42:16Speaker 1: say goodbye, and he just says, complain later we ate
- 42:21Speaker 1: in the clear, things may get rough. He knows what's up, honestly.
- 42:28Speaker 1: So back at the town, they decide to split forces.
- 42:37Speaker 1: One is going to go after Beget and the other
- 42:41Speaker 1: is going to go after the straw hats. And as
- 42:47Speaker 1: they are figuring this out, Big Mom is continuing to
- 42:51Speaker 1: rampage and talking just about my cake, where's my cake?
- 42:57Speaker 1: And Smoothie is saying like, don't worry, we're going to
- 43:01Speaker 1: handle this. It's going to be taken care of. They
- 43:04Speaker 1: won't get away because she isn't really understanding yet the
- 43:07Speaker 1: situation that is upon her. That big mom is in
- 43:11Speaker 1: this like New state, and she picks up, Uh, what's
- 43:17Speaker 1: his name? The guy who's made of cream and opera
- 43:24Speaker 1: is his name, right, Florian Oprah Opera. Yeah, it's Opera,
- 43:30Speaker 1: I think because of opera cake. Uh, because like everybody's
- 43:35Speaker 1: named after food, and if you didn't know a lot
- 43:38Speaker 1: about food and you heard the name opera, you'd be like,
- 43:40Speaker 1: what that doesn't have anything to do? But it does.
- 43:43Speaker 1: That is a type of cake. And Smoothie like he's
- 43:48Speaker 1: trying to get help from her, and Smoothie is like,
- 43:52Speaker 1: excuse me, sir, you were the one who lied to
- 43:55Speaker 1: all of us that you like killed Loofy and Nam,
- 44:01Speaker 1: and now look what's fucking happened because you've fed us
- 44:04Speaker 1: a bunch of bullshit. So no, I will not help you.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You're on your own. And we eventually have Mama coming
- 44:13Speaker 1: across him and picking him up and just literally chucking
- 44:18Speaker 1: him like two miles and he's probably still alive. But
- 44:23Speaker 1: like that was definitely that was serious. There are three
- 44:30Speaker 1: there's a moment here, guys, I'm trying to, uh, we
- 44:35Speaker 1: go back to the German Kingdom. They don't know what's
- 44:39Speaker 1: going on. Judge is down, and I'm assuming Judge is
- 44:42Speaker 1: actually dead, but he may not be. I feel like
- 44:46Speaker 1: assuming he's dead is just stupid of me, because nobody dies.
- 44:51Speaker 1: But I don't know. And one of the soldiers is
- 44:59Speaker 1: looking out this like watch tower, basically onto this huge
- 45:05Speaker 1: crowd that's coming toward them, and he's like, this looks
- 45:08Speaker 1: really bad. Why are the big pirates here? The big
- 45:12Speaker 1: mom pirates here? And there are three dudes. I do
- 45:18Speaker 1: not recognize these guys, y'all, so help a girl out.
- 45:23Speaker 1: They look like they look like weebles a little bit.
- 45:30Speaker 1: They're very They're very big in terms of like their
- 45:35Speaker 1: comparative size to the other people around them, so they
- 45:40Speaker 1: look like giants, but they're not really proportional, like we
- 45:45Speaker 1: have seen giants that look in all respects like they
- 45:50Speaker 1: are proportional to a regular person, except they are just humongous.
- 45:56Speaker 1: These guys. Their heads are half their entire height, their
- 46:02Speaker 1: bodies are teeny tiny. And the one dude on the left,
- 46:10Speaker 1: I like, I don't even know how to go about
- 46:12Speaker 1: describing these I absolutely fucking love this trio, and weirdly
- 46:22Speaker 1: I want to know more about them. So we've got
- 46:24Speaker 1: our guy on the left who only his eyes are
- 46:28Speaker 1: showing and I can't tell if it's supposed to be
- 46:30Speaker 1: that he's like his head is wrapped in bandages or what,
- 46:33Speaker 1: but only his eyes are showing from his face, and
- 46:36Speaker 1: his hair is this huge shock of wavy orange that
- 46:41Speaker 1: sticks up in the air like flames fluttering kind of
- 46:45Speaker 1: and he is wearing what looks to be a kind
- 46:49Speaker 1: of like smock that's just got the uh buttons across
- 46:56Speaker 1: the front like a captain's jacket, but it doesn't. It
- 46:59Speaker 1: looks like if you took a snuggie and you just
- 47:02Speaker 1: drew the buttons on the front. And he is the
- 47:09Speaker 1: way that the neckline of this comes up, and the
- 47:12Speaker 1: way that the most of his face is covered, it's
- 47:16Speaker 1: reminding me of that character from Fat Albert who's got
- 47:20Speaker 1: the hat like pulled down and the turtleneck pulled up
- 47:25Speaker 1: or whatever. You know what I'm talking about. He's got
- 47:28Speaker 1: that kind of vibe to him. Then we have this
- 47:31Speaker 1: dude all the way to the right, and he has
- 47:34Speaker 1: a like ruffled seventies tuxedo type of shirt and a
- 47:41Speaker 1: long mustache that like falls down to his breastbone a
- 47:47Speaker 1: little like it's unclear if it's just sort of a
- 47:50Speaker 1: tuft of white hair or if that's part of a mohawk.
- 47:54Speaker 1: But then the pissed their resistance is a dude in
- 47:57Speaker 1: the center. This dude has hair question mark that looks
- 48:04Speaker 1: like a captain's hat, like a tricorn hat almost or yeah.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And there is a happy face, a yellow happy face
- 48:16Speaker 1: with a mustache that matches his smack in the center
- 48:23Speaker 1: of his head, of his hair, of his hat, unclear
- 48:27Speaker 1: to me which it is. This dude has sunglasses that
- 48:32Speaker 1: to me really strongly resemble the type of goggles that
- 48:36Speaker 1: you wear at a tanning salon. And he is, you know,
- 48:40Speaker 1: has a captain's jacket with epaulets. That's the most normal
- 48:43Speaker 1: thing about him, I think, And is gripping a pipe
- 48:48Speaker 1: between his teeth, and like the thing about this guy
- 48:58Speaker 1: stands out his voice in the dub. I don't know
- 49:04Speaker 1: what he sounds like in the original, but he has
- 49:08Speaker 1: a line, we shall crush the German Kingdom beneath our
- 49:12Speaker 1: mighty boots. I don't know what I expected actually, but
- 49:19Speaker 1: the way he delivers this line, we shall the rush
- 49:24Speaker 1: there wa Kingdom moneath our mighty boots, it's like, I
- 49:29Speaker 1: don't It's almost like a game show kind of voice.
- 49:34Speaker 1: It's really something. And I don't know where this guy
- 49:38Speaker 1: came from. I don't know what his deal is, but
- 49:42Speaker 1: I do kind of want to see more of him.
- 49:45Speaker 1: And also these other two his sidekicks or his brothers
- 49:48Speaker 1: or whatever. I just think this is this is weird grouping.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I don't know what's happening here. So anyway, we jump
- 49:58Speaker 1: over to h the like Loofy he has gotten onto uh.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I think he's riding Chopper away and he's going in
- 50:10Speaker 1: a separate direction as the rest of the straw Hats,
- 50:13Speaker 1: and Caesar is just hanging back watching them. And at
- 50:18Speaker 1: first I thought he was going to be like really
- 50:20Speaker 1: disappointed that nobody wanted to team up with him or
- 50:24Speaker 1: asked him to come with them, But then he says, actually,
- 50:28Speaker 1: never mind, I am going to do such amazing things
- 50:32Speaker 1: now that I'm finally free. But that winds up blowing
- 50:39Speaker 1: up in his face a little bit because he ends
- 50:42Speaker 1: up encountering Brulay and I am just really really loving Brulay.
- 50:53Speaker 1: She's such a little weirdo, Like she has these cool powers,
- 51:00Speaker 1: but they can be like taken from her in a
- 51:03Speaker 1: certain way really easily, which sucks, but they are still
- 51:07Speaker 1: quite strong. On another level, she's so upfront about the
- 51:13Speaker 1: way that she got like suborned, is that the word
- 51:17Speaker 1: I want? Into doing this with the rest of her family.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I thought that she was going to really try and
- 51:22Speaker 1: pretend that she had nothing to do with any of it, that,
- 51:26Speaker 1: you know, but she's very open at being like, they
- 51:31Speaker 1: made me do this, and they made me do that,
- 51:34Speaker 1: which was just not the approach that I was expecting
- 51:36Speaker 1: of her. And then when she imitates Caesar, she is
- 51:43Speaker 1: just like she says to him something about how all
- 51:48Speaker 1: of the resentments that have built up this whole time
- 51:52Speaker 1: because he was the one that was like in charge
- 51:55Speaker 1: of handling her and her abilities to make sure that
- 51:59Speaker 1: everybody was going to be able to like get out again. So,
- 52:06Speaker 1: and her voice is pretty fun, and there is just
- 52:10Speaker 1: something there's something about her that I find like weirdly endearing.
- 52:17Speaker 1: I think it's just that she is so what you
- 52:20Speaker 1: see is what you get, and there is almost to
- 52:23Speaker 1: her a level of like like she wants to be
- 52:31Speaker 1: better at her job than she is, and that she
- 52:36Speaker 1: really just kind of feels like I just fucked up
- 52:40Speaker 1: and it's very embarrassing, and I hate it in a
- 52:43Speaker 1: way that I relate to. You know, nobody wants to
- 52:45Speaker 1: be made a fool of. But it's not like it
- 52:48Speaker 1: doesn't feel so much with her like it's her ego.
- 52:52Speaker 1: It's more that I had to endure humiliation at your
- 52:58Speaker 1: hands and it's sucked, you know. It's not she's not
- 53:02Speaker 1: trying to like redeem her reputation in front of other people.
- 53:08Speaker 1: The way that she is coming at him here is
- 53:11Speaker 1: very personal. So anyway, I just, uh, I wasn't expecting
- 53:16Speaker 1: her to have her moment in this way, and I
- 53:21Speaker 1: have to admit there was a part of me that
- 53:23Speaker 1: was almost like, hey, good for you, girl, Yeah, get
- 53:26Speaker 1: some get some back. You know. I think I also
- 53:29Speaker 1: feel this way, probably because it Caesar, and like he
- 53:32Speaker 1: is just so annoying that I am never going to
- 53:35Speaker 1: be mad that somebody threw an obstacle in his way.
- 53:41Speaker 1: So we also have the uh bro who is now
- 53:47Speaker 1: a chicken with a teacup hat, the guy who used
- 53:50Speaker 1: to be in an egg. He is like finding out
- 53:54Speaker 1: everything that's been going on. He had been in the
- 53:57Speaker 1: inside the building, and I don't know, like why it's
- 54:04Speaker 1: taken so long for him to rejoin everybody else. But
- 54:08Speaker 1: evidently that bomb that Pedro set off did not do
- 54:12Speaker 1: the job. So he is getting caught up here, and honestly,
- 54:16Speaker 1: I was pretty excited to see him too, because this
- 54:19Speaker 1: guy is also really strange and the just the whole
- 54:26Speaker 1: chicken aesthetic. It's something I don't know, man, But yeah,
- 54:33Speaker 1: so the family is like figuring out exactly what it
- 54:36Speaker 1: is they're gonna do now, and we have what is
- 54:40Speaker 1: his names at Kategori. He's the one that seems to
- 54:43Speaker 1: be kind of at this point the brains of the operation.
- 54:47Speaker 1: I cannot determine how smart slash capable he actually is.
- 54:57Speaker 1: He seems like intimidating, but then every now and then
- 55:01Speaker 1: he'll like do something that I'm sort of like, man,
- 55:04Speaker 1: I don't know, maybe you ain't shit actually, but yeah,
- 55:07Speaker 1: they're they're informing the Chicken man. And this is when
- 55:13Speaker 1: Smoothie comes running and she's like she's in another one
- 55:17Speaker 1: of her tantrums. You guys have got to go. So
- 55:20Speaker 1: the next episode is basically her rampaging and the dude
- 55:29Speaker 1: that Florine literally just told me his name Parispero. Oh.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Brooke goes with Chopper to get the submarine. Thank you, Florian.
- 55:42Speaker 1: This guy distracting her and telling her actually, we have
- 55:46Speaker 1: a cake, don't worry about it. She says to him like,
- 55:50Speaker 1: if you're lying to me, I'm going to rip your
- 55:52Speaker 1: entire life force away, and she leaves him there for
- 55:55Speaker 1: the moment and he's just like, well, what am I
- 55:58Speaker 1: going to do? Then putting shows up and it's basically
- 56:03Speaker 1: fear not and uh. Then we have big Mom who
- 56:08Speaker 1: reaches up and grabs zeus the cloud and hops onto
- 56:15Speaker 1: it and rides it away, and y'all, this is rad
- 56:24Speaker 1: as hell. This is sort of giving a little bit
- 56:28Speaker 1: of like stragan Nona vibes. Stragan Nona is like the
- 56:34Speaker 1: Christmas witch in Italy that is popularly supposed to be
- 56:39Speaker 1: the one who delivers presence if you're not doing Saint Nicholas,
- 56:44Speaker 1: or maybe if also on top of Saint Nicholas, but yeah,
- 56:51Speaker 1: the uh, or you could do like what's the other
- 56:56Speaker 1: lady's name? I keep wanted to say bony legs, but
- 56:58Speaker 1: you know, she rides around and like cauldron whatever. This
- 57:03Speaker 1: The idea of being able to ride on top of
- 57:07Speaker 1: this cloud never once entered my mind. I did not
- 57:11Speaker 1: think that this was a thing that's possible. And the
- 57:16Speaker 1: fact that she can basically fly, it's just another thing
- 57:21Speaker 1: that I'm like, this pitch is too powerful. Holy shit
- 57:26Speaker 1: enough already she keeps pulling out new things she can do.
- 57:31Speaker 1: And I don't even mean this in like a oh
- 57:33Speaker 1: she's ope the way she's written kind of way. It
- 57:38Speaker 1: just serves to make her actually really intimidating as a villain,
- 57:42Speaker 1: you know. So meanwhile, our other friends, we've got Loofy Carrot,
- 57:51Speaker 1: Nami Pedro, and Jim May on top of the tree
- 57:57Speaker 1: with the mustache, the guy who got cut half and
- 58:00Speaker 1: now he's like all stitched up. It turns out Nami
- 58:04Speaker 1: still has half of Big Mom's Viver card and she
- 58:08Speaker 1: is using it to intimidate this tree and get him
- 58:12Speaker 1: to cut a path straight through the seducing woods to
- 58:15Speaker 1: the sunny. Now. I know I have said it before,
- 58:20Speaker 1: but I am going to say it again. I don't
- 58:24Speaker 1: buy this particular plot point, the fact the idea that like,
- 58:30Speaker 1: she has this Viver card and it would make these
- 58:33Speaker 1: creatures do whatever she said it's just really just doesn't
- 58:37Speaker 1: work for me. And especially here we've got big mom
- 58:42Speaker 1: like following them, and the king Baum is like fleeing
- 58:47Speaker 1: from her with this expression of terror on his face.
- 58:51Speaker 1: If the viver card that houses part of her soul
- 58:56Speaker 1: is meant to be enough to drive you to do
- 58:59Speaker 1: certain things, the actual woman being here should definitely be
- 59:05Speaker 1: enough to get you to stop dead in your tracks
- 59:08Speaker 1: and hand over all the straw hats to her. Do
- 59:11Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying? Like, it just doesn't. It
- 59:14Speaker 1: just doesn't really I get what he's going for here,
- 59:19Speaker 1: but in practice, when you think about it at all,
- 59:22Speaker 1: it just really kind of falls apart. And it feels
- 59:26Speaker 1: like he just needed something that was going to give
- 59:31Speaker 1: Nami a kind of power and it was the best
- 59:34Speaker 1: he could come up with. And I don't know, I
- 59:37Speaker 1: can't help but think that he probably could have come
- 59:40Speaker 1: up with something better than this. It's just not doesn't
- 59:44Speaker 1: hang together fully, But what can you do? So let's see,
- 59:53Speaker 1: I'm trying to see the part where, yeah, so the
- 59:56Speaker 1: attack on German Kingdom is still happening, and they're trying
- 59:59Speaker 1: to sees all of this technology, and you see like
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: a bunch of dudes just dead in the fucking hallway,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: the what's the word the say, the staircase. They're completely
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: they have demolished. It seems all of German Kingdom's defending forces,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: which I have to say, is like pretty embarrassing. These
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: soldiers are meant to be pretty tough customers and they're
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: meant to be valuable enough that our people here are
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: coming to take the clones away. I don't know if
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: it's supposed to be that the guys they're fighting here
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: aren't clone soldiers, that they're just like regular dudes or what,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: but it just seemed like they can't be that great
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: if you guys just laid them out this easily. They can't.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: They must not be that valuable. They don't seem like
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: they stood up too much, you know, to the pressure.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: But regardless, we have the like opening of this lab
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: where it's literally just like dudes in jars. It's kind
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: of funny. There's like hundreds of them, and we have
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: the one guy that's going in like looking around and
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: he's saying, all right, this is it. We finally got it.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: And then the other dude with the mohawk goes into
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: the throne room and He tells his men to tear
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: everything to pieces because there is this throne with no
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: king in it, which he thinks is pathetic. So let's
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: like make a point, make an example. And then all
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: of us sudden here comes Double six. They are hiding
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: and just waiting to attack each of these guys. Now
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I am willing to accept this, but I do want
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: to point out that we saw a lot of dudes
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: who had been apparently killed, and I guess either these
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: guys were like making their way over here or they
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: were just sitting and watching these guys get murdered, which
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: probably it could be that second one, since they evidently
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: don't really like feel emotion about things. But it is
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: pretty satisfying because they're so insufferably like smug and shitty.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I don't like to see them up against soany but
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: seeing them up against big moms guys very very satisfying.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: And yeah, these like boots that they wear, it's all
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: very specific and wild looking. It's very much like kind
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: of Marvel superhero energy, like they're the X Men, you know.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: And I really this is not a criticism. I don't
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: dislike it. It just feels like tonally quite different from
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: a lot of the show in that respect, because they're
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: just such a specific thing. And you know, we see
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: each of these dudes individually go down, and then we
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: go back to Lufy and he is on top of
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: King Baum watching as Big Mom gets closer and closer
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: and closer, and he is like, oh, you want to fight,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: and he's got him like he's ready to go, as
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: he always is. You know, you present him with the
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: opportunity to fight. It doesn't matter in the slightest what
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: the odds are of him winning or losing. It's irrelevant
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: to him. He'll fight, that's it. And she's yelling where's
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: my wedding Cake? And I love Lufi just being like,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I don't know, why are you asking me? Why would
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I know that? Which I did think was really funny.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: He's just taking this just fully, is like, that's why
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: she's here. She just wants cake, like almost offended that
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I thought I thought you wanted to fight me. It's
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: just about cake? Is that really all? So? Anyway? This, uh,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: it ends with her like shooting this beam at them.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: It's a weird thing because she lifts her blade and
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I thought that King Bomb was gonna get cut in
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: half again. But the blade isn't what. It doesn't come
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: in contact with them. It's not like with Zoro, you know.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: It's like the blade is a magic wand that directs
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: force rather than it being what doing the cutting itself.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: So we have her with her like swirly eyes and
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: she says, the spear of el Bath shall pierce you,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: and Loofy is like, wait, elbaf what and she starts laughing.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: She's got that like fucking drool. Her hat is because
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: it's attached to her stord. Now she's wearing this like
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: blue kerchief with yellow polka dots that she had on
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: under it apparently. And this force just slams into king
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: bomb and you see like the trees surrounding them and
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: stuff literally get vaporized, like it was an atomic bomb
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: that just went off. And she is like standing above
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: them looking down as this and she just starts laughing
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: and her lips turn up, and the subtitle says chuckles,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: and then it's to be continued. So, uh, yeah, that
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: was pretty fun. The only thing that gets in the
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: way for me a lot of the time. And I've
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: said this before, and there really just isn't a good
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: solution because of the way that Oda wants to tell
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: this story. But she can make this big attack, and
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: it can look really intimidating because all these trees vaporized,
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: but our people are unhurt. They're thrown a good ways,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: but they aren't hurt by it. Lufy is literally standing
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: there looking up at her. So it's hard to take
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: seriously that this strike is something that I need to
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: be worried about, because it very obviously isn't something I
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: need to be worried about. It didn't really do anything
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: to anybody. Now it may be that next episode and
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I find out I'm really really wrong about that, you know.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: But even like, other than maybe king Bomb being affected,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: it just seems as if it does the equivalent of
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: a strong gust of wind blowing everybody over. So, you know,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I feel like Big Mom is more threatening herself than
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: her weapon. I don't need the weapon. It's fine. Demian says, Yeah,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I always thought this was a real weak sauce plot
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: point with the beaver card. BM is right there, Yeah,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: exactly exactly. So anyway, but I'm still having fun and
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: I am looking forward to seeing what all happens here,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: because like our crew has split up a little bit,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: and even though Lufy is likely going to be like
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: involved in something one on one with her, we're still
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: going to have other things happening. Hopefully that we'll keep
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: that from getting too bogged down. Maybe we'll see all right, guys, well,
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: I will see you next week. Thank you so much
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: those of you who are listening, I hope you're enjoying
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: the coverage. Thank you again to everybody here in the
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: chat for actually coming, and thank you to Lena for
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: commissioning the episode. Until next time to the Loom motherfuckers.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: That was an Unspoiled Network Podcast two
