- 1:34- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 1:38- Here is today's prayer.
- 1:45- Hello, and welcome to divine five one five
- 1:48- daily prayers with Valerie Rocha.
- 1:51- Today's
- 1:52- prayer topic is
- 1:54- how
- 1:55- to love
- 1:56- difficult people.
- 1:58- Scripture text comes from Luke six twenty seven
- 2:01- and says, love your enemies to go to
- 2:03- those who hate you.
- 2:05- Now I wanna start off this conversation by
- 2:09- saying loving people who love us is easy.
- 2:14- Loving those who disappoint, criticize, or misunderstand
- 2:17- us
- 2:18- requires God's grace and is a whole another
- 2:21- story.
- 2:23- And what's interesting
- 2:25- about this,
- 2:26- scriptural text here
- 2:29- is that Jesus is the master psychologist here.
- 2:33- And,
- 2:35- there's a lot of things that are are
- 2:36- being addressed here. Right? It's maybe it's forgiveness
- 2:39- and any other number of things that,
- 2:42- at that time, the disciples were were dealing
- 2:44- with.
- 2:45- And,
- 2:47- he he's addressing, you know,
- 2:50- no. We're not doing an eye for an
- 2:52- eye, and and we're we're we're we're not
- 2:54- doing any of that. If someone attacks you,
- 2:56- you attack them back. No. No. No. It's
- 2:59- love covers a multitude
- 3:01- of of of of sins. Right? It covers
- 3:03- a multitude of wrongdoings. Now that doesn't mean
- 3:05- that
- 3:06- you allow someone to just cause,
- 3:09- bodily harm. Right? It's it's always good to
- 3:11- have boundaries
- 3:13- and,
- 3:14- to protect yourself in in that,
- 3:17- way.
- 3:17- But let's face it.
- 3:19- Everybody doesn't have the love of God.
- 3:22- And,
- 3:24- they're, you know, because of personality conflicts or
- 3:27- what have you, they may not get along
- 3:30- with you.
- 3:31- And it can be,
- 3:33- very, very difficult.
- 3:35- But I always look at those, situations and
- 3:39- I've had to face them many, many times
- 3:41- as an opportunity
- 3:42- for God
- 3:43- to shine the light on my heart. Right?
- 3:46- Because what's really happening is,
- 3:49- the person that's getting to you
- 3:51- is is
- 3:53- being used
- 3:54- as a litmus test to see what's in
- 3:57- your heart. Right?
- 3:59- If the person is bothering you,
- 4:01- why are they bothering
- 4:03- you? Is it because of something
- 4:05- they're doing,
- 4:06- you're doing, or not doing.
- 4:09- And so regardless of where you fall on
- 4:12- that scale,
- 4:13- prayer is always going to be
- 4:16- the answer. Right? And let's be honest, left
- 4:19- to ourselves, we will naturally protect our hearts.
- 4:22- Right? That's that's a human thing. Right?
- 4:26- But through Christ, we can learn to respond
- 4:28- with wisdom, compassion, and love. And so,
- 4:32- as we are maturing
- 4:33- in God and as we are,
- 4:36- becoming more like him,
- 4:39- those are important things to remember that not
- 4:42- everyone that we meet is is going to
- 4:44- be pleasant. Right? But
- 4:47- remember that there might have been a time
- 4:49- when we were not always pleasant. And so
- 4:52- the love of God
- 4:53- came and captured and saved us. And
- 4:57- if we are going to be disciples or
- 4:59- followers of of Jesus
- 5:01- and and and our heavenly father,
- 5:03- we need to mirror those characteristics.
- 5:06- Doesn't mean that it's easy,
- 5:09- but it's doable.
- 5:10- Why? Because the greater
- 5:12- force, the greater power
- 5:14- is in you.
- 5:16- The holy spirit will even guide you. He
- 5:18- brings things back to your remembrance
- 5:21- And God tells us, hide the word in
- 5:24- your heart so that you won't sin against
- 5:27- him.
- 5:29- Tools for everyday
- 5:31- living. So work the tools, and they will
- 5:34- work for you.
- 5:35- Not an easy task, but definitely
- 5:39- achievable.
- 5:41- That being said,
- 5:43- let's go to the throne.
- 5:46- Dear lord,
- 5:48- help us love
- 5:49- people the way you love them.
- 5:54- Give us patience when relationships become difficult and
- 5:58- wisdom when emotions
- 6:00- run high.
- 6:02- Protect our heart from bitterness and help
- 6:05- us extend grace without compromising
- 6:08- truth.
- 6:09- Fill us with your spirit so that our
- 6:12- responses reflect your character.
- 6:16- Thank you for loving us even when we
- 6:19- fall short.
- 6:22- And we will bless you, Jesus.
- 6:25- Amen.
- 6:28- Remember,
- 6:30- grace has the power to transform relationships.
- 6:35- And
- 6:36- the that task is just
- 6:39- one prayer away.
- 6:41- If today's prayer encouraged you, share it with
- 6:44- someone who may need this to
- 6:47- empower them.
- 6:49- And as always
- 6:51- keep meeting God at the throne, because prayer
- 6:53- isn't something that we do is how we
- 6:56- walk with God on a daily basis.
