- 0:39and A that is gonna do a couple of songs, So make some noise
- 0:42for Shaboozy. Man. Thanks for our kicking it with us and taking some
- 0:48time to hang out. iHeart Country House Party. First. CMA fes Yeah
- 0:51oh yeah, talking about taking stuff off, Well, crazy man, how's
- 0:56how's the first CMA fest going. That's been pretty great. I mean I
- 1:02heard we shut down a couple of streets on Broadway, so that was crazy
- 1:04to see, no doubt, man, Obviously I congrats and everything with a
- 1:11bar song is taken off? What did you kind of know though, like
- 1:12it was taken off and kind of take us through the process of when you
- 1:15first recorded it too, you know, when you put it out. You
- 1:19know, for like a couple of months, like a couple of weeks before
- 1:22I made the song, I was thinking about like a two thousands hip hop
- 1:26song. I wanted to flip into into an Americana song, and that one
- 1:30just kid. You know. We were just in the studio finishing up,
- 1:33finishing up the album, and uh just you know, I was like,
- 1:37Yo, what song should we do? And then that one came on and
- 1:38we were like, yeah, this is the song. So we just recorded
- 1:41it and my managers heard the song the next morning. They We're like,
- 1:45yeah, this this is this is crazy. This is the one you just
- 1:48put out the album to talk about the album that came out last week.
- 1:51Obviously you have a bunch of cool collapse on that too. Yeah, the
- 1:55album is. You know, we've been working on it for like a year
- 1:57and a half. I was able to get some of my you know,
- 2:00favorite artists on there. Noah Cyrus, who's like I'm a huge fan of
- 2:04and Big Exa Plug who I'm also a h fan of. Paul Cotin,
- 2:07who I was able to see live like a couple of years back. To
- 2:10be able to give someone like him, you know, I think he's like
- 2:13an underground kind of like there's a lot of underground X on the album,
- 2:15which is what I'm you know, is what I'm about. I love the
- 2:19underground. I love this stuff that's under the scene. And speaking of albums,
- 2:23how did the whole Beyonce think come about? You have what two songs
- 2:24on the Beyonce album? Yeah? Yeah, how did that all come about?
- 2:29That's obviously a superhistoric hell man, I mean I couldn't tell you man,
- 2:32I don't even know how something like that happens. I mean, that's
- 2:36a that's like a dream within itself. You know, I'm like, I'm
- 2:38waiting to just wake up from all of this. Honestly. You know,
- 2:42who who would you love to have do like a remix to Country out or
- 2:47Country I mean it's a it's a crazy question now because I've had you know,
- 2:53I've asked. I've asked a couple of people, you know what I
- 2:54mean. It's like I've talked to everybody I want to get on the song
- 2:58I've talked to. Maybe the timing doesn't workout or but you know, I
- 3:01can't really say say too much. That ruined the surprise. You know.
- 3:05I'm sure it's gonna happen. But I'm sure a lot of artists have also
- 3:07been hitting you up too after you know it came out and stuff. Yeah,
- 3:08man, I saw. I forgot who the interview was with, but
- 3:12you were talking about the song back that Acid by Juvenile impact on your life
- 3:17story. Oh yeah, that was crazy. I mean just being on,
- 3:21just being on hearing, you know, being watching TV music videos and listening
- 3:23to the radio. I just heard that song and I was like, man,
- 3:27it's the beat. You're not even to beat the fiddle or the violin.
- 3:30I think it was a violent or a fiddle. It's like it just
- 3:34shows you the power of of a violin or a fiddle instrument, you know
- 3:36what I mean? What, uh, what's coming up the next couple of
- 3:38months for you? Uh? Tour. Definitely go on tour. I'm gonna
- 3:45go on tour. I want to see everybody there. You know, it's
- 3:47gonna be really fun. I mean, man, that song is is you
- 3:51know, I played the song at the bar song in Charlotte and there's thousands
- 3:55of people, you know, I mean thousands of people going crazy and yeah,
- 3:58North Carolina come on to raise up. Yeah, but yeah, tour,
- 4:03all that stuff, deluxe, you know, more collaborations if you could,
- 4:10uh, if you could, uh, Let's say you're stranded on island,
- 4:12right, you have one playlist you can listen to. What are like
- 4:14the top you only with five songs, We're like the top five song probably
- 4:18Hank Williams Junior family tradition. Uh juvenile bet that Kwan Tim said I got
- 4:30is that it all? Has he hit you up? By the way,
- 4:31or have you got Yeah? He hit me He hit me up when he
- 4:34heard the demo like a day after I made this, like two three days
- 4:38after I made the song. I think that's probably when I knew maybe this
- 4:42was gonna do something with j Kwan. Hits me up because you got to
- 4:45get the clear you got to get the song cleared. You know, you
- 4:47interpolated it. So I think one of my publishers or somebody sent it to
- 4:50his publisher and he DMed me directly. It was like, Yo, you
- 4:54got one. I was like, all right, So that doesn't happen too
- 4:58often, definitely. Now, are you guys ready for Shaboozi to do a
- 5:00couple of songs? Yeah? All right, Well I'm hop out of the
- 5:03way. Give it up for Shaboozy here. It's such a good interview.
- 5:08Man, it's such a good dude too. Later that afternoon, special guests
- 5:11Riley Green crash the stage. My name is Wayne d With iHeart country and
- 5:15local. Hey, where's my Nashville locals at? So you know? Dang
- 5:20well, you can hear us weekday afternoons on the Big ninety A. Right,
- 5:25So I'm talking about We appreciate y'all listening. It means a lot.
- 5:28And if you are not from Nashville, thanks for coming to hang out with
- 5:30Nashville's number one country station. We love y'all for the support. Now,
- 5:34one real quick thing before I say the thing that you're really excited for.
- 5:38Okay, so the second thing is important to you, The first thing is
- 5:41important to me. So take care of me and then I'll take care of
- 5:45y'all. Don't read into that. Don't read into that. Uh hey,
- 5:49sc scan the QR code because we are giving away tickets to see Riley tonight
- 5:55at a special show over at the sand Amphitheater. So sket I appreciate that.
- 6:00So scan the QR coach. We can get you set for that show
- 6:03because we're gonna drop for it as Riley leaves the stage. Okay, so
- 6:08now let's do the part that you care about. But do me a favor.
- 6:11He's done a couple of shows throughout CMA Fest already, but I promised
- 6:15him a minute ago this would be the loudest and he's like and he goes
- 6:17like this, I don't know about that, man, So do me a
- 6:21favorite. Nashville and visitors get loud for Riley Green. I don't want to
- 6:46take it, honeste ally sad too. How y'all doing? They're rowdy?
- 6:59Man? All right, with all due respects, shut up. We got
- 7:04to talk because he wants to sing for y'all too. So let me ask.
- 7:09First of all, there are a lot of guys and a lot of
- 7:12girls here. But there's a rumor that I thought the ladies, you were
- 7:15more excited for this show today. Hey, and to be fair, we've
- 7:23we flipped a coin upstairs to see who was gonna do the interview shirtless.
- 7:28I lost. I'm just kidding, I d I don't know. These guys
- 7:31are pretty excited right here. So before we let Riley before, man,
- 7:36I want to touch base CMA Fest For a fan, they're mapping out as
- 7:42soon as their favorite artist announces, or as soon as they plan their trip
- 7:46or they plan their drive into Nashville. How early are you planning CMA Fest?
- 7:49Are your team planning it? Oh? I don't plan anything? Is
- 7:54they put me in the car and I show up and follow the noise?
- 7:57And man, this is lads just making a lot of noise earlier or so.
- 8:01So when it comes to CMA Fest, how many years is this deep
- 8:05for you? I signed a deal in twenty eighteen, so I guess I've
- 8:11I've been coming here since then. Is this the busiest CMA Fest you've had
- 8:16yet? By far? Yeah? It's it's crazy. So tonight you have
- 8:22a special show that you're a part of over at the sand Amphitheater. Outside
- 8:26of something like that, because that's Tracy Lawrence's Show and Friends tonight. What
- 8:30are moments that you get to be a fan or maybe interact with other artists
- 8:33that you normally don't get to Well, a lot of people probably don't know,
- 8:37you know. I mean, we don't get to hang out with our
- 8:39buddies that do country music because we're all on the road together. So it's
- 8:41nice to be able to all be in the same town for a week,
- 8:45you know, and we're passing each other and getting to have a drink every
- 8:48once in a while. So it's a cool deal to be a part of
- 8:50it. Then you get to get to be a fan and play for a
- 8:54lot of fans. I got to say, you have written and put out
- 8:58so many amazing songs over the years, but I want to touch on one
- 9:03that probably connected one of your biggest ones, that connected early for you.
- 9:07Anybody have a grandpa that is like their number one guy? When you take
- 9:15a connection with somebody in your life, right and the story is about them
- 9:18not being with you anymore, how tough is that? Not only to tell
- 9:22the story, but how important is it that that he gets to live on
- 9:26through that song forever. Now, Well, that's the biggest thing for me.
- 9:28Is that both of my grendaddies are part of the song that's become a
- 9:31really huge song. Me thanks so much to y'all and however for making that
- 9:35song what it is. But it's it's it is a song always. Grandpa
- 9:39has never died and it's going to be around forever. When when it comes
- 9:43to the writing and recording, we just got some new music not long ago.
- 9:48But how far you look? How far are you looking ahead? And
- 9:50we're always writing and uh you know, constantly playing new songs. It shows
- 9:56to see what stands out and what fans seem to like. So we'll definitely
- 10:03be putting some more music out this year. When it comes to the music
- 10:07we've already heard now, believe it or not, y'all might love every single
- 10:11song he's ever put out, but I guarantee there's one that you're like,
- 10:15I'm glad y'all like it. But if I didn't have to sing it again,
- 10:18that'd be awesome. Is there one of those? I mean, I
- 10:20haven't got tired of anything yet. I mean, when you go play a
- 10:24song and a show and fans sing it back to you, sometimes scream it
- 10:28back to you, you never get tired of that song. So so we
- 10:33know some of y'all are from Nashville. But on the count of three,
- 10:37yell out your city one, two three, I heard Alabama somewhere. Yeah.
- 10:46And to whoever yelled Alabama a little Tennessee education, that's a state,
- 10:50not a city. Uh. As you're putting together a tour, I heard
- 10:56Ohio again, a state. When you're put together a tour, what are
- 11:01some cities that you're like, hey, y'all, like, let's make sure
- 11:03we hit bam bam bam, well everywhere all of the you know, SEC
- 11:09schools in the Southeast. To love to go play at the colleges and especially
- 11:13during football season, Uh, Tuscaloosa, Auburn. Uh. I always like
- 11:20to go up to the Midwest where where the weather's nice in the summertime.
- 11:22We have big outdoor festivals. Everybody shows up because it's not snowing. Uh.
- 11:26And we did four weeks on the West coast and that was a lot
- 11:28of fun. So yeah, Hey to my friends in Minnesota booking Riley in
- 11:33January, he's busy, uh hunting the season, man, I can't.
- 11:37Hey. Collaborations are red red hot in country music. You just had a
- 11:41massive one with Luke Combs. Do you have pressure? Do you have y'all
- 11:46like that song? Obviously? Uh? Do you have pressure to connect with
- 11:50somebody? Are you like? Hey man, when it's when it's right,
- 11:52it'll be right. Uh. Well, it was a good opportunity because I
- 11:54was out with Luke doing stadiums last year on tour. But it's uh,
- 11:58it's really just buddies that kind of dig each other's music. And I just
- 12:03texted Luke said you want to be a part of this song and worked out
- 12:05really well for me. He did, I'll tell you one name, and
- 12:09she actually just opened a spot around the corner. I think a Riley Green
- 12:13and Landy Wilson's track would be unreal. I'm not forecasting the future. He
- 12:18did not tell me to say that. I don't even know if they even
- 12:22know each other, but I'm putting it out into the universe. Who would
- 12:24love that song? Before you hear it? Now, I'm gonna challenge you
- 12:31because obviously this is a great part of being Riley Green, But what are
- 12:35some of the hardest parts day in and day out for you? Well,
- 12:39I always say this is a really cool way to make a living, so
- 12:41I can't complain too much. I did construction work for the majority of my
- 12:43life and now I'm playing country songs for a living. But I definitely I
- 12:48definitely missing being at home. You know. It's a kind of grueling being
- 12:52on the road a couple hundred days of a year. So it's nice to
- 12:54have something like this in town and my family's able to come up. My
- 12:56folks are over here, so hey, hey, one time for Riley Green's
- 13:01family that's hanging out with us. So CMA Fest raps Sunday night Nissan Stadium.
- 13:11Everybody heads out of town or goes back to work on Monday. Boo,
- 13:16listen, it's fine, you got How are you gonna pay for CMA
- 13:20Fest next year if you don't go back to work? Uh? What are
- 13:22you looking forward to the rest of the year. We're gonna be playing fairs
- 13:26and festivals all over the country and uh, like I said, it's gonna
- 13:30be put out some new music. So just excited about going to some cities
- 13:31I haven't been in and playing bigger venues and doing this a lot more.
- 13:37What about downtime, You're a guy who works. I want to sleep.
- 13:41That's yeah, I'm gonna sleep until hunting season. September. First, I'll
- 13:43get back up and chase them around a little bit. There we go.
- 13:48What's so you're a big hunting guy, you shared on Instagram. What's your
- 13:50what's your favorite hunts? What's been your favorite hunting story? Uh, I'm
- 13:56I get excited at whatever season it is. But definitely some great duck hunts
- 14:00where I'm able to take buddies and family and go sit in the blind and
- 14:03cut up and cook breakfast. And some of the best hunts I've had we
- 14:07didn't kill much. There are questions that artists get asked all the time,
- 14:11like, oh, who's the best golfer when you go out with other artists?
- 14:15Or who's the messiest that you hang out with? I want to know,
- 14:18if you've hunted with another country artist, who's the worst? What an
- 14:24awful question? H don't don't don't record this and don't take whoever it is.
- 14:30I haven't taken anybody that you know that wasn't good. I would say
- 14:35that there might be some people that aren't as quiet as others. You know,
- 14:39Hey, Luke Brian likes to talk. I don't know if he could
- 14:39be real quiet, but but he's you know, he's a big hunter too,
- 14:45so, but you're not above being like, hey, shut up,
- 14:48hey, shut up. Yeah, what's your favorite thing to hunt? Whatever
- 14:52season it is, season no matter, season, no matter. Hey,
- 14:56So here's the deal. I've had fun chatting. Oh my god, yeah,
- 15:03put those in. Let's get the band up here. Rate of Rock
- 15:05before before before we perform. What songs do y'all want to hear? Okay,
- 15:15okay, he's like all of them. Hey, he's even got merched.
- 15:18I thought he was just yelling to be obnoxious. My man's God and
- 15:20the hat. Oh yeah that is. I'm happy for him. All right,
- 15:24y'all, Rate of Rock. I'm gonna shove my mouth and let this
- 15:26man rock this place. It's time to be louder than you've been since you
- 15:33got to town, Nashville. Give it up for Riley Green. I held
- 15:37country house party taken over downtown Nashville once again. That's day three, Day
- 15:41four even more guests lined up. Make sure you click subscribe so you don't
- 15:43miss out.
