- 1:30Speaker 5: According to Metro News meteorologist Brian Hughes, We're gonna be
- 1:33Speaker 5: in the low nineties, but it'll actually feel warmer than
- 1:35Speaker 5: that's under a mix with clouds and sun. Can see
- 1:37Speaker 5: a pop up shower thunderstorm this evening and tonight more
- 1:41Speaker 5: than the same tomorrow. Brian's is probably a better chance, though,
- 1:43Speaker 5: have seen storms tomorrow upper eighties to near nineties, showers
- 1:47Speaker 5: and storms pretty much the rest of the week, at
- 1:48Speaker 5: least the chance of it and keep it a close
- 1:50Speaker 5: eye on that for the state Baseball tournament at Huntington
- 1:53Speaker 5: and live on the LFE of Friday night timphs again

- 2:01Speaker 3: Coming up.
- 2:02Speaker 5: It's Monday, meaning we get a visit for former Charleston mayor,
- 2:06Speaker 5: House of Delegates member Sheriff, gravedigger, actor, restaurant tour, radio
- 2:11Speaker 5: talk show host, et cetera, et cetera, Danny Jones. Over
- 2:15Speaker 5: the weekend, the State Democratic Party met in Charleston and
- 2:17Speaker 5: there was a move on by Teresa Soorzeva to replace
- 2:21Speaker 5: Mike Pushkin as state party chair. That didn't happen. Pushkin's
- 2:24Speaker 5: going to remain party chair. He's going to join us

- 2:38Speaker 3: Welcome to the show. Now it's Daniel Once. How you doing,
- 2:41Speaker 3: my friend? I'm doing just fine. How are you I am?
- 2:44Speaker 3: Did you I'm doing fine?
- 2:45Speaker 5: Did you get a chance to rest a little bit
- 2:46Speaker 5: because you came off the softball tournament and of course
- 2:48Speaker 5: I know you were heavily invested in that Mountaineer game
- 2:51Speaker 5: and now you got the state baseball tournament going on.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Did you did a little bit of rest this weekend?
- 2:56Speaker 6: Uh to find rest because I did not have games
- 3:01Speaker 6: broadcast on Friday, worked my regular day on Friday, hung
- 3:05Speaker 6: out with you on midday with the sports Blitz, spent
- 3:09Speaker 6: Friday evening preparing for the Class A quarterfinals in the
- 3:13Speaker 6: state baseball tournament, called those on Saturday, and then slept
- 3:18Speaker 6: until about eleven o'clock on Sunday.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Okay, all right, so a little bit of rest, yeah, somewhere,
- 3:21Speaker 5: a little bit of rest in this day too, of
- 3:23Speaker 5: the say baseball term of Jack Cookfield and Honeingson. Will
- 3:25Speaker 5: get into that just a bit a little bit later on.
- 3:28Speaker 5: And I know you're, as you said, you're heading there
- 3:30Speaker 5: to console with the Ash, but I want to start
- 3:31Speaker 5: by talking about this Mountaineer baseball team, Daniel, heading to
- 3:34Speaker 5: their first ever college World Series. We'll get into the
- 3:37Speaker 5: storm a little bit later on, but let's talk about
- 3:39Speaker 5: that win cal Poly un side.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Oh, well, they just hit another home run, right.
- 3:43Speaker 6: I was on the air with Dave Wilson as that
- 3:46Speaker 6: game was happening, and just about every inning and a
- 3:51Speaker 6: half I would check the score and I would just
- 3:53Speaker 6: say to Dave on the air, Dave, more things are
- 3:56Speaker 6: happening in Morgantown and West Virginia dominated that series against
- 4:00Speaker 6: cal Poly, and I think the thing that a lot
- 4:03Speaker 6: of people were saying coming into that series was West
- 4:05Speaker 6: Virginia could have trouble with cal Poly because cal Poly
- 4:07Speaker 6: has great starting pitching. The two starting pitchers for cal
- 4:11Speaker 6: Poly did not combine to throw four innings in the
- 4:14Speaker 6: two games because West Virginia jumped on him early and
- 4:17Speaker 6: took care of business against both of those guys. So
- 4:20Speaker 6: it's an exciting time. You know, the entire state of
- 4:23Speaker 6: West Virginia, it seems, has embraced this team and it's
- 4:26Speaker 6: really exciting stuff. I told you on midday on Friday.
- 4:29Speaker 6: I'm not going to tell you it feels like twenty
- 4:31Speaker 6: ten when the Mountaineer basketball team went to the Final four,
- 4:34Speaker 6: but it really feels like twenty ten when the Mountaineer
- 4:37Speaker 6: basketball team went to the Final four. And baseball team's
- 4:39Speaker 6: one of the last eight left standing.
- 4:41Speaker 5: And of course, I mean, not to take away oh,
- 4:44Speaker 5: they just hit another home run, not to take away
- 4:46Speaker 5: from the game in any way, shape, form or fashion,
- 4:49Speaker 5: to quote US Senator Jim Justice, because the Mountaineers are
- 4:52Speaker 5: now heading out to Omaha first time in program history.
- 4:54Speaker 5: But that storm was something else and it made national attention,
- 4:57Speaker 5: it was on the national news, it's on ESPN.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Yeah, a terrible story with with what happened, kind of
- 5:03Speaker 6: marred things, but it seems like long term, everybody's gonna
- 5:07Speaker 6: be okay. It could have it could have been a lot,
- 5:09Speaker 6: It could have been a lot worse. So he had
- 5:12Speaker 6: a thunderstorm that that delayed the game. And something that
- 5:15Speaker 6: has become national headline in sports with this run for
- 5:18Speaker 6: WVU is the fans packing what has come to be
- 5:22Speaker 6: known Randy's Ridge down the right field line with the
- 5:25Speaker 6: hill overlooking the stadium in the parking lot of the
- 5:28Speaker 6: WVU medicine facility up there, and I mean it was
- 5:31Speaker 6: shoulder to shoulder all the way down the right field
- 5:34Speaker 6: line up there. There were people with with tents and
- 5:37Speaker 6: canopies and all kinds of things. And one of the
- 5:40Speaker 6: larger tents as this delay was going on for the
- 5:45Speaker 6: storm came loose blew down the hill and there were
- 5:50Speaker 6: seven people that were injured, five that were transported to
- 5:53Speaker 6: the hospital. Like I said, seems like everybody's gonna be okay.
- 5:56Speaker 6: But he has some really scary moments And a huge
- 5:59Speaker 6: shout out to Joanah Nelson in Morgantown, who's one of
- 6:01Speaker 6: our reporters that was out there, was able to get
- 6:05Speaker 6: some witness accounts of what happened, and you can head
- 6:07Speaker 6: to DOUBLEV metro news dot com to read a little
- 6:09Speaker 6: bit more because it is a really harrowing story.
- 6:12Speaker 5: It is, and I mean in the video was just
- 6:14Speaker 5: I was actually not in Morgantown. I was actually watching
- 6:17Speaker 5: the game, like a lot of our listeners were on
- 6:19Speaker 5: ESPN two. And I just wonder, though, Daniel, that for
- 6:23Speaker 5: the future, what that's going to mean for Randy Ridge is,
- 6:26Speaker 5: especially with tints.
- 6:27Speaker 3: I agree, you know, I agree.
- 6:29Speaker 5: And when there's bad weather predicted, they kept and I
- 6:34Speaker 5: know everybody's got their the weather on their phone. Everybody
- 6:36Speaker 5: probably gets alerts and whatever. But on from the television broadcast,
- 6:40Speaker 5: they were showing well before it happened. I mean, this
- 6:43Speaker 5: is a massive storm that's coming in at at some point.
- 6:46Speaker 5: Maybe it might have been a good idea Hindsight's twenty twenty.
- 6:49Speaker 5: It might have been a good idea to let's fold
- 6:51Speaker 5: up these tents with this six company.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think so.
- 6:54Speaker 6: And I don't want to speak for the folks that
- 6:55Speaker 6: were there, but if this was a regular old, big
- 7:00Speaker 6: twelve regular season game on a Sunday in April. There's
- 7:06Speaker 6: probably a good chance of seventeen to one ballgame. In
- 7:08Speaker 6: the eighth inning the rains come, everybody's gonna go home.
- 7:11Speaker 6: But this was the game to clinch the super regional.
- 7:13Speaker 6: People wanted to be there. I wanted to send Country
- 7:16Speaker 6: Roads after. So I agree with you. I think you
- 7:19Speaker 6: probably need to be a little bit more aware of
- 7:21Speaker 6: the situation. As I have said about a lot of sports,
- 7:25Speaker 6: and this is not exactly the right turn of phrase,
- 7:29Speaker 6: but I want to use it. Know your personnel is
- 7:30Speaker 6: a big deal in sports, and know your situation here.
- 7:33Speaker 6: I think maybe you should have got the tents down
- 7:35Speaker 6: a little hard.
- 7:36Speaker 5: But again, it's the important thing is is that no
- 7:38Speaker 5: one was seriously injured. It sounds like everybody's gonna be right. Yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 5: And that's just I don't know about going forward. They
- 7:46Speaker 5: may take a look at the tent situation, and Brandy,
- 7:48Speaker 5: I would think it's one of the better things that's
- 7:49Speaker 5: happened in college sports in along Lonstether, you're a Mountaineer
- 7:52Speaker 5: fan or not, so I just I would hate to
- 7:54Speaker 5: see that that go away because of this incident. But
- 7:57Speaker 5: maybe you know when weather is predicted, bad weather's predict
- 8:00Speaker 5: Did you have somebody there going out? These guys no tense, right,
- 8:03Speaker 5: you know, enjoy it, but no tense right. And I
- 8:05Speaker 5: will tell you I saw video. The game was at noon.
- 8:09Speaker 6: They opened up that area at ten AM, and I
- 8:12Speaker 6: saw a video and it was like, you know the
- 8:14Speaker 6: old videos of the Alabama spring game, the people sprinting
- 8:19Speaker 6: out of the tunnels to get autographed after the Alabama
- 8:21Speaker 6: Spring Game. It was like that. I mean, people on
- 8:23Speaker 6: a dead sprint to get their spots as soon as
- 8:26Speaker 6: they open that up. So I don't think it's going
- 8:28Speaker 6: to go away as a concept, but I do think
- 8:31Speaker 6: they're going to have to restrict some things.
- 8:32Speaker 5: All right, let's get to the same baseball tournament, Day
- 8:34Speaker 5: two getting underway already over the weekend. I guess a
- 8:36Speaker 5: major upset, right.
- 8:37Speaker 6: Yes, the defending Class A state champions East Hardy beaten
- 8:41Speaker 6: by their regional rivals from Pendleton County, So we will
- 8:44Speaker 6: have a new Class A baseball champion this year. East
- 8:48Speaker 6: Hardy had swept Pendleton County in the regular season and
- 8:50Speaker 6: Pendleton County just comes down lines up, beats them eight
- 8:53Speaker 6: to four in the quarterfinals. Number seven seed came in
- 8:57Speaker 6: with a sixteen and sixteen record, but they looked like
- 9:00Speaker 6: a number one seed out there. Took care of business
- 9:03Speaker 6: and like I said, we'll have a new Class A champion.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Our semi semi finals in that bracket are gonna come
- 9:08Speaker 6: up on Thursday.
- 9:08Speaker 3: And what time does the game start?
- 9:10Speaker 5: They already started to They start at I think my
- 9:14Speaker 5: alma mater plays at noon today.
- 9:15Speaker 3: I think the loganwket yes they do. They will play
- 9:18Speaker 3: Dodgers County Okay area teams in the Charleston area.
- 9:21Speaker 6: Right, so Buffalo will be the first to take the field.
- 9:24Speaker 6: They'll be in the last game tonight, which is probably
- 9:27Speaker 6: going to be about an eight o'clock first pitch. That's
- 9:30Speaker 6: typically how that fourth game shakes out, depending on how
- 9:33Speaker 6: quickly Game three goes. But Buffalo will play Independence. They
- 9:37Speaker 6: beat Charleston Catholic to get there. In Class Triple A,
- 9:41Speaker 6: Saint Albans is the number two seed. I'm really excited
- 9:45Speaker 6: for that Class Triple A tournament, doing my preparations for that.
- 9:48Speaker 6: As the week goes on, St Albans is twenty nine
- 9:50Speaker 6: to five. They're behind Bridgeboard, who's thirty and four. Interesting
- 9:54Speaker 6: stat that I just love to dig up this morning.
- 9:56Speaker 6: The top two teams in that Class Triple A field,
- 9:58Speaker 6: that's Bridgeport and Saint Albans. Neither of them have allowed
- 10:02Speaker 6: one hundred runs on the season, both in thirty plus games,
- 10:05Speaker 6: so you've got two great pitching teams, plus the rest
- 10:08Speaker 6: of that field is great. And then two of the
- 10:10Speaker 6: top three seeds in Class Quada, which we'll start on Wednesday,
- 10:13Speaker 6: are here in the Kanawa Valley. George Washington is the
- 10:15Speaker 6: number one overall seed, Hurricane is the number three seed.
- 10:19Speaker 6: So that's going to be an exciting tournament. The depth
- 10:21Speaker 6: in Quada this year is really strong. I'm looking forward
- 10:23Speaker 6: to Wednesday.
- 10:24Speaker 5: And again we want to remind you that all four
- 10:26Speaker 5: championship games will be a Metro News television, so if
- 10:28Speaker 5: you have a downloaded the app, make sure you do.
- 10:31Speaker 5: All the audio the games is available WV metronews dot
- 10:33Speaker 5: com and for the area teams, I think we are
- 10:35Speaker 5: providing coverage on Charleston's ESPN Radio one of six point
- 10:39Speaker 5: seven FM fourteen ninety a M and oh, WV just
- 10:44Speaker 5: hit another home run, So Daniel, I appreciate you being here.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I hope the weather cooperates.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I really do too, you.
- 10:51Speaker 5: Know, because it's kind of a fingers crossed situation with
- 10:53Speaker 5: these pop up showers, thunderstorms.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Second weeks of state tournaments, six days of state softball.
- 10:57Speaker 6: We had one really bad weather day and it made
- 11:01Speaker 6: the rest of that week a hassle.
- 11:03Speaker 3: So we'll see how it goes.
- 11:04Speaker 5: We had a texture so that I saw the brackets.
- 11:06Speaker 5: City West Virginia will play Troy on Friday. Do we
- 11:08Speaker 5: know what time and channel that will be on?
- 11:11Speaker 6: Not sure on start time yet. They need to solidify
- 11:14Speaker 6: the field, but it will be Friday, either afternoon or evening.
- 11:18Speaker 5: All right, And oh, that'll come out a little bit wrong,
- 11:21Speaker 5: Daniel WV. You just said another home run, Daniel, appreciate

- 15:49Speaker 5: about the the state meeting, but what did you make
- 15:52Speaker 5: of that? And Danny and I are going to talk
- 15:53Speaker 5: about it at length a little bit later on that exchange.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I don't know if you even get to see.
- 15:56Speaker 5: It though, where you're traveling with Kristen Welker and President
- 15:59Speaker 5: Trump one meet the prece yesterday.
- 16:02Speaker 12: I mean, for the you know, the leader of the
- 16:03Speaker 12: free world or president of the United States to act like that,
- 16:07Speaker 12: really act very childish, and if he doesn't like the questions,
- 16:11Speaker 12: he gets hostile, and if there seems to be a
- 16:14Speaker 12: pattern where it's often aimed at female reporters, so it's
- 16:18Speaker 12: not the first time he's done done something like this.
- 16:21Speaker 12: You know, sadly nobody's been shocked or surprised by it,
- 16:24Speaker 12: but we all should be. But I mean, that's not
- 16:26Speaker 12: the way that the president should be acting.
- 16:28Speaker 3: And I agree.
- 16:28Speaker 5: And my take on that is is, look, if you
- 16:30Speaker 5: know those questions are coming, maybe you don't agree to
- 16:32Speaker 5: do the interview if you're President Trump. I mean, I mean,
- 16:35Speaker 5: I'm just saying again, Danny and I'll talk about that
- 16:37Speaker 5: a little bit later. I want to talk about maybe
- 16:40Speaker 5: battle is not the right word for the chairmanship, but
- 16:42Speaker 5: there was some discussions, someone else wanted the role, and
- 16:45Speaker 5: in the end, I guess folks voted to keep you
- 16:48Speaker 5: in that position. How did the vote go? I mean,
- 16:50Speaker 5: how does it happen? Take us through the process.
- 16:53Speaker 12: Well, every four years, within thirty days of the primary,
- 16:57Speaker 12: and the vast majority of the Executive Committee members are
- 17:02Speaker 12: elected by directly by primary voters, those who represent each
- 17:07Speaker 12: state senatorial district, we have our you know, organizational meeting
- 17:12Speaker 12: and so it's it's you know, that happens every four years.
- 17:16Speaker 12: So there was definitely not a battle. It was an
- 17:19Speaker 12: election and that's what we do as stated in our
- 17:22Speaker 12: in our state code. And uh, you know, we're the
- 17:25Speaker 12: Democratic party, so everybody had an equal opportunity to speak up.
- 17:30Speaker 12: And so these things can take some time because it's
- 17:32Speaker 12: not just a chairs race. We also vote on vice chair,
- 17:36Speaker 12: second vice chair, and all the way down there's a
- 17:38Speaker 12: whole list of officers. There's a large committee members that
- 17:41Speaker 12: are elected there. Vacancies are filled at this meeting. So
- 17:45Speaker 12: if people didn't step up and run for a couple
- 17:48Speaker 12: of our state senate districts, then we fill vacancies there.
- 17:53Speaker 12: There are other appointments that are made so it's uh,
- 17:55Speaker 12: you know, it's a it takes a long time. It
- 17:57Speaker 12: was a long day Saturday.
- 18:00Speaker 3: How long did it take through it?
- 18:01Speaker 12: And now we're you know, you know back, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 12: the party is together and we're ready to take the
- 18:07Speaker 12: fight to the Republicans a fall.
- 18:08Speaker 5: We on midday last week, we talked to you about
- 18:11Speaker 5: the Saturday meeting. We also talked to Teresa Tourseeva, who
- 18:14Speaker 5: wanted to be in that role and was was not chosen.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Everything good there. I mean, like you said, I don't
- 18:21Speaker 5: think you made a good point last week, Mike. I
- 18:23Speaker 5: mean I think that no matter whether it's Republican or Democrat,
- 18:25Speaker 5: I think that you that you need these kind of things,
- 18:27Speaker 5: you know, and kind of I don't want to say
- 18:29Speaker 5: shake it up, but maybe to have a little discussion
- 18:31Speaker 5: and h but every everything good now within the.
- 18:33Speaker 12: Party, Yeah, everything is great. We are said, we're ready
- 18:37Speaker 12: to work together and we have a great team. And
- 18:39Speaker 12: first I wanted to yeah, I would commend Vice Chair
- 18:43Speaker 12: tour Seva on a well fought race. It was you know,
- 18:46Speaker 12: it was very uh, it was very competitive, and it
- 18:49Speaker 12: brought up we brought up a lot of good points
- 18:51Speaker 12: on both sides, and I think it makes for whoever
- 18:54Speaker 12: is in this in this position, it makes uh, it
- 18:56Speaker 12: makes it easier for us to do our job when
- 18:58Speaker 12: we hear uh, you know, not just not just the
- 19:01Speaker 12: compliments and the praise, but also the criticisms. I think
- 19:04Speaker 12: that's important. But I would also like to give a
- 19:07Speaker 12: shout out to the new vice chair of the West
- 19:10Speaker 12: Virginia Democratic Party, and it is Pamela Tucker kleinb from
- 19:14Speaker 12: Nicholas County. She's currently the chair of the Nicholas County Democrats.
- 19:18Speaker 12: She is one of the hardest working people that we
- 19:21Speaker 12: have in West Virginia. So really happy to start working
- 19:26Speaker 12: with Pam. And also we elected our second vice chair
- 19:31Speaker 12: who is the mayor of Wellsburg, Mayor Danny Dudley, who
- 19:35Speaker 12: is a great Democratic, great mayor, great guy, and really
- 19:38Speaker 12: looking forward to working with him as well. So congratulations
- 19:41Speaker 12: to Pam and Mayor Dudley.
- 19:43Speaker 3: So now it it settled, Mike, where do you go
- 19:47Speaker 3: from here as the Democratic Party in West Virginia.
- 19:50Speaker 12: Well, I believe on your show last week I said
- 19:53Speaker 12: one thing I won't be doing is take it a
- 19:54Speaker 12: day off, and I'm sure the next on Sunday yesterday morning,
- 19:59Speaker 12: I get on the plane and come here to the
- 20:01Speaker 12: Association of State Democratic Committees to continue working for the party.
- 20:05Speaker 12: As soon as I get back, it's going to be
- 20:09Speaker 12: straight back to work and working with our candidates, because
- 20:12Speaker 12: that's what's important right now. We have a mid term
- 20:14Speaker 12: coming up in November. The people of West Virginia need
- 20:18Speaker 12: us right now because they need a state government, and
- 20:21Speaker 12: I had a federal government that works for them, and
- 20:25Speaker 12: so we'll be working with our candidates. I believe we
- 20:27Speaker 12: have a candidate training we're doing in conjunction with the
- 20:30Speaker 12: House Democratic Caucus just next weekend and making sure our
- 20:35Speaker 12: candidates have all the resources and all the training that
- 20:37Speaker 12: they need to run their best elections this fall. And
- 20:40Speaker 12: we plan on having a pretty good night in November.
- 20:45Speaker 5: This year talking again with State Democratic Party Chair and
- 20:48Speaker 5: Delegate Mike Puskin. Be sure and join me every Friday morning,
- 20:51Speaker 5: nine to six for the Adopt Me. Please put it
- 20:52Speaker 5: the week from the Canal Charleston Humaine Association brought you.
- 20:55Speaker 5: I almost have an INTERIORUS family owned proudly serve the
- 20:57Speaker 5: community for over fifty years, specializing custom blind shade, shutters, upholstery,
- 21:02Speaker 5: and beautifully crafted sown goods from homes, to hospitals, classrooms,
- 21:05Speaker 5: commercial spaces they do at all. They're located at five
- 21:07Speaker 5: sixteen D Street in South Charleston. Right now, as you said,
- 21:12Speaker 5: you have a lot more in my I think I'm
- 21:14Speaker 5: correct about this. You have a lot more candidates on
- 21:16Speaker 5: the ballot than perhaps what you've had in the in
- 21:19Speaker 5: the past. What's that message that you are going to
- 21:23Speaker 5: as a party chair and other leaders that you are
- 21:25Speaker 5: going to when you sit down with these candidate trainings,
- 21:27Speaker 5: because they'll be so many these people, Mike, you know,
- 21:29Speaker 5: probably never run for office before, They've never taken part
- 21:32Speaker 5: in candidate forums, They've never had to do a lot
- 21:34Speaker 5: of you know, radio, television, online, billboard advertising, whatever. What
- 21:39Speaker 5: goes into when you sit down with these candidates over
- 21:41Speaker 5: the next couple of months.
- 21:43Speaker 12: Well, I mean, we tend to stick to the kitchen
- 21:46Speaker 12: table issues. That's what everybody, whether they're you know, the voters,
- 21:49Speaker 12: whether they're Republican or Democrats, are independent or whatever, what
- 21:52Speaker 12: everybody is concerned about right now. Basic kitchen table issues.
- 21:57Speaker 12: How much a cost to you know, keep the air
- 21:59Speaker 12: conditioning on at their house, how much it costs to
- 22:01Speaker 12: fill up a tank of gas, Whether or not we
- 22:04Speaker 12: have enough funding for our public schools, whether or not
- 22:08Speaker 12: people have access to healthcare, things that affect the day
- 22:10Speaker 12: to day lives of West Virginians. That's what we are
- 22:13Speaker 12: laser focused on because we just field at the Republican
- 22:16Speaker 12: supermajority in West Virginia and in Congress and all the
- 22:20Speaker 12: way up to the White House. They have not been
- 22:22Speaker 12: doing their job to address the needs of the people
- 22:25Speaker 12: of West Virginia or the people of this country. So
- 22:27Speaker 12: that's what we're focused on. And we feel we have
- 22:30Speaker 12: a printing are in good argument because you know, the
- 22:33Speaker 12: evidence is all around us.
- 22:35Speaker 5: He will remain in a state party chair. Dellicate Mike
- 22:38Speaker 5: Pushkin here in Kanawha County. I appreciate you and we'll
- 22:41Speaker 5: talk again. I think we'll get you on midday later
- 22:43Speaker 5: this week, so we'll talk to you then.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
- 22:45Speaker 12: All right, Ope can come into the studio and then
- 22:47Speaker 12: see a smiling face there, darling.

- 27:37Speaker 5: Actually I did see some things. It all depends on
- 27:39Speaker 5: what you're watching. I guess I did see several things. Saturday.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I'll tell you a secret. Yeah, whenever I file on
- 27:47Speaker 2: the plane, you.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Wear the veteran gear. Okay, does it get you anywhere?
- 27:54Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 27:57Speaker 2: That's it's a shirt that it's what does it say?
- 28:01Speaker 3: Us Marine Corps Vietnam veteran.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, and that's the ribbons. Yeah, so so I
- 28:08Speaker 2: always wear it when I fly on a plane.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And sometimes you forget your phone. That's another story, poor Danny.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I left my phone on the plane last night.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Yeah. That's well. Luckily you have like seven of them,
- 28:22Speaker 3: so there's that.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Well, hopefully I've been in touch through AI through everything today,
- 28:31Speaker 2: so maybe they'll find they It says it's at the airport,

- 28:38Speaker 5: In the airport in California, in the Hartsfield at in Atlanta.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yeah, at Mander Jackson Airport down.
- 28:47Speaker 3: There, all right.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Uh so, welcome back from California. Thank you you you
- 28:53Speaker 5: sent me a video and then I think you posted
- 28:55Speaker 5: on Facebook as well as your place out there.
- 28:57Speaker 3: It's uh, it's pretty cool. Had you got there?
- 29:01Speaker 1: It is.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It's very cozy. And I found myself sitting on the
- 29:06Speaker 2: chase you on the porch.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Was watching life go by, well okay, going to sleep.
- 29:14Speaker 2: At honestly, and then I wake up and the sun
- 29:18Speaker 2: has come over on my legs and my legs are
- 29:20Speaker 2: burning up.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Let me ask you.
- 29:23Speaker 5: We talked to Mike Pushkin earlier in the show, Danny,
- 29:25Speaker 5: and he will remain in the state Democratic Party chair
- 29:28Speaker 5: and they had their meeting in Charleston over the weekend,
- 29:30Speaker 5: and there was a challenge to him to somebody else
- 29:33Speaker 5: wanted to take over the chairmanship. He retained, He had
- 29:37Speaker 5: the votes, and he retained it. What if you were
- 29:41Speaker 5: to give advice on West Virginia Democrats, because again, you
- 29:44Speaker 5: were a Republican when the Republicans were in the minority,
- 29:47Speaker 5: All right.
- 29:48Speaker 3: In the way minority.
- 29:49Speaker 5: Okay, But twenty twenty six, if you were to give
- 29:52Speaker 5: advice to West Virginia Democrats that are maybe running for
- 29:57Speaker 5: office or what would what would that advice be?
- 29:59Speaker 2: Well, first thing, I don't know. Why was Mike michael challenge.
- 30:04Speaker 3: There's somebody being I think that's good. I mean, Mike
- 30:06Speaker 3: even said it, because sometimes people think they can do
- 30:09Speaker 3: it better.
- 30:10Speaker 12: I like.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I mean, I've interviewed her. I like her, but I
- 30:14Speaker 2: don't Why would you want to anyway? I would? I
- 30:19Speaker 2: would do run the way I ran for sheriff. First thing,
- 30:22Speaker 2: you got to get some money. Second thing, stay alone.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Okay, not run it. Don't run as a pack.
- 30:30Speaker 5: In other words, well, pack is not the right word
- 30:32Speaker 5: in today's political is No, I mean as a group
- 30:36Speaker 5: I should say.
- 30:37Speaker 2: You know, I remember the Democrats. They may have a
- 30:41Speaker 2: little headquartered in my old restaurant, but they had down
- 30:45Speaker 2: the street four years ago. They were down the street
- 30:49Speaker 2: on the corner, and they used to go out and
- 30:52Speaker 2: have this honking wave. And yet all these people standing
- 30:56Speaker 2: out there was signed and you couldn't distinguish one for another.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And the thing to do is stay alone, okay, and
- 31:07Speaker 2: get some real get some bruch. Sure, And of course
- 31:12Speaker 2: now they you have to use social media, and that's,
- 31:15Speaker 2: oh yeah, that's just not my thing. Somebody else is
- 31:18Speaker 2: going to have to help you with.
- 31:19Speaker 5: There's plenty of people that can do that. I would
- 31:21Speaker 5: say if nobody asked me as a registered independent, but
- 31:26Speaker 5: I would say that the first thing in West Virginia, Danny,
- 31:30Speaker 5: is somebody's running for And I've used this example. I
- 31:33Speaker 5: changed the county every time, so people think I'm not
- 31:35Speaker 5: picking on any Particularly if you're running for surveyor of
- 31:38Speaker 5: Calhoun County, right and you go to somebody's door or
- 31:42Speaker 5: candidate forum or whatever. The first thing they are going
- 31:45Speaker 5: to ask you, if you're a Democrat, they're going to say, well,
- 31:48Speaker 5: how do you feel about the National Democratic Party? They're
- 31:51Speaker 5: going to start throwing out names like AOC and they're
- 31:53Speaker 5: going to throw out names like you know, all the
- 31:55Speaker 5: you know, and they're still living on Biden and Pelosi
- 31:59Speaker 5: and all this other stuff. My if I had a
- 32:02Speaker 5: piece of advice for them, I would say, look, I
- 32:04Speaker 5: am me, I am Dave Allen. I am running for
- 32:07Speaker 5: this office. I'm not involved the national politics.
- 32:10Speaker 2: I handled that in the general when I was running
- 32:14Speaker 2: for sheriff. I was thirty three years old that summer,
- 32:20Speaker 2: and I had every Democrat intend any Republican houses. Governor
- 32:24Speaker 2: Rohrer told me, if you don't have the Republicans, forget
- 32:27Speaker 2: about it. So I want to. I got their names.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I went to their homes and I said, if you
- 32:33Speaker 2: haven't found a candidate to teck the vote for sheriff,
- 32:39Speaker 2: I'd like for you to consider voting for me. And
- 32:41Speaker 2: I'm running against the coach Edwards down there, and he's
- 32:45Speaker 2: a good man, but I'm a good man too, like that,
- 32:47Speaker 2: and they would smile. And I had one lady ask me,
- 32:53Speaker 2: she's a Democrat, said well, what about President Reagan. I said,
- 32:57Speaker 2: I'm not running for president. I'm running for sheriff.
- 33:02Speaker 5: I mean, it is my belief and I based this
- 33:05Speaker 5: on nothing more than antidotal evidence.
- 33:07Speaker 3: I believe that.
- 33:09Speaker 5: The only way that a well one of the only
- 33:12Speaker 5: ways that a Democrat is going to get elected. And
- 33:15Speaker 5: maybe I don't use my example as a surveyor of
- 33:17Speaker 5: Calhoun County, let's use a bigger is that you're going
- 33:20Speaker 5: to have to make a statement against the National Democratic Party. Now,
- 33:24Speaker 5: no real or imagine, real or imagine I'm not saying,
- 33:27Speaker 5: but I'm just saying, you're pretty much gonna have to
- 33:30Speaker 5: do that, because that's what in West Virginia. In West Virginia,
- 33:33Speaker 5: that's still a big thing. And even though his popularity
- 33:37Speaker 5: is plumbering elsewhere else everywhere else, Donald Trump is still
- 33:41Speaker 5: incredibly popular in West Virginia.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Two people who I can verify did not but Republican
- 33:47Speaker 2: on their brochure. One was named More and the other
- 33:53Speaker 2: was named Jones. Okay, I never put a Republican on there. Okay,
- 33:57Speaker 2: I just I'm running for sheriff. I'm better looking in
- 34:01Speaker 2: that guy.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Of course, of course you said that.
- 34:04Speaker 5: But you know what's interesting to me is sometimes when
- 34:06Speaker 5: I do these candidate interviews with somebody, you know, prior
- 34:09Speaker 5: to an election, and maybe if it's somebody that is
- 34:12Speaker 5: not as well known, and maybe in the first two
- 34:15Speaker 5: or three questions, if I haven't yet brought it up. Okay,
- 34:19Speaker 5: this is Danny Jones. He's a Republican running and maybe
- 34:22Speaker 5: if I haven't gotten to it yet, or maybe it
- 34:24Speaker 5: doesn't matter, maybe it's a Ward of Education seat or
- 34:26Speaker 5: a judge seat, whatever, somebody Invariably Danny will text the
- 34:30Speaker 5: show and we'll say is this guy, is this gal?
- 34:32Speaker 5: Is this Is this a Republican or a Democrat?
- 34:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but even if it's a nonpartisan rates they want
- 34:37Speaker 3: they want to know are you a Republican or are
- 34:39Speaker 3: you Democrat?
- 34:39Speaker 2: But David, that's the show. That's I mean not when
- 34:46Speaker 2: you go out and hit the doors. Now everybody listens
- 34:52Speaker 2: to this show.
- 34:53Speaker 3: What not?
- 34:54Speaker 2: Everybody is engaged in politics.
- 34:57Speaker 3: That's true. That's a very good point.
- 34:58Speaker 2: You have a very nice, glossy picture of you on
- 35:01Speaker 2: the front cover, and then inside. If you have a family,
- 35:05Speaker 2: which I didn't, you can put them in and you
- 35:09Speaker 2: put bullet points about yourself. Don't mention you're a Democrat.
- 35:14Speaker 2: What for what difference does it make you're running for
- 35:18Speaker 2: the House of Delegate or say Senate. If you haven't
- 35:22Speaker 2: found a candidate to vote for. I'd like for you
- 35:24Speaker 2: to consider voting for me.
- 35:26Speaker 5: And please, this is just as me as a voter.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Please stop promising things you can't do anything about. I mean,
- 35:32Speaker 5: the things I love about all politicians are I'll make
- 35:35Speaker 5: our streets safer. Okay again, you're running for surveyor of
- 35:38Speaker 5: Calhoun County. How safe are you going to make the streets?
- 35:41Speaker 3: You know? And I'm for.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Lower taxes, and if everybody's for lower taxes, everybody is.
- 35:49Speaker 2: I'm for more efficient government and like, if you know,
- 35:57Speaker 2: you've got to follow your passions with me. Teachers ought
- 36:00Speaker 2: to be paid more.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Let's meet what zero disagreement here?
- 36:05Speaker 2: I've gotten I've gotten soft in my old age about unions,
- 36:11Speaker 2: teachers in the UMW, I'm all in what's left of it.
- 36:15Speaker 3: The UMW really well, yeah, what changed?
- 36:19Speaker 2: I don't know. And the communication workers, I just think
- 36:23Speaker 2: they're real people and that doesn't mean they ought to
- 36:27Speaker 2: be able to take over. There are some people that've
- 36:30Speaker 2: overstepped their bounds. The leader of the Ford strike, remember him,
- 36:36Speaker 2: he's way over his skis. He's having them pay stuff
- 36:40Speaker 2: they can afford, and they have to compete internationally. But
- 36:45Speaker 2: with the umw and the teachers. You get that fifty
- 36:50Speaker 2: five strong. I might have a sign to my end.
- 36:53Speaker 5: Talking to Danny Jones sixty away from TENVI Dave Island
- 36:55Speaker 5: Show on five any Line brought to part by the
- 36:57Speaker 5: All New Generations for the hurricane Visit Generations Ford dot com. Danny,
- 37:01Speaker 5: I texted you yesterday after I watched the debacle. Uh
- 37:05Speaker 5: that was a Trump interview with Kristen Welker and Meet
- 37:07Speaker 5: the Prince yesterday.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Your take?
- 37:11Speaker 2: Why are they doing that? I mean, why would first thing?
- 37:17Speaker 2: Trump keeps advancing that lie. And I guess he thinks
- 37:21Speaker 2: if he says it long enough, people little people will
- 37:28Speaker 2: the election. He didn't get beat, he got trumped. He
- 37:33Speaker 2: lost seven million votes in that election. He lost every
- 37:39Speaker 2: sling state.
- 37:40Speaker 5: But if he were with you right now, here's the
- 37:42Speaker 5: way you be Danny, and I'll be Trump what President Trump?
- 37:46Speaker 5: What would be and said right now is no, it's
- 37:47Speaker 5: not true.
- 37:48Speaker 3: It's not true. No, that's not that's not what happened.
- 37:50Speaker 3: That's not what happened.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Okay, Well see, but I wouldn't if I was If
- 37:55Speaker 2: I was you, I wouldn't interview Donald Trump unless it's
- 38:00Speaker 2: about local stuff. We appreciate what you're doing, you know,
- 38:04Speaker 2: getting cold back in business something like that. But but
- 38:11Speaker 2: you know, yeah, I mean he there is one shining
- 38:18Speaker 2: star in that administration and his name is Marco Rubia,
- 38:24Speaker 2: and he is really impressive.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Right And if he if he, if he was, if
- 38:29Speaker 3: he was so impressive, why why did he not do
- 38:31Speaker 3: better when he ran for president? I mean he was
- 38:33Speaker 3: in the top echelon, But I mean why did his
- 38:38Speaker 3: what did he not do?
- 38:39Speaker 2: Nobody was going to beat Trump? Yeah, just like nobody
- 38:42Speaker 2: was going to beat Trump this past year. You know,
- 38:45Speaker 2: in twenty twenty four, he just you know, they had
- 38:50Speaker 2: Doug Bergen at George Stephanopolis had Doug Bergen on, you know,
- 38:56Speaker 2: talk about his campaign. Every question was about Trump. He
- 39:00Speaker 2: never said, well tell us what you'd do if you
- 39:02Speaker 2: were president. Never no questions like that. It was all
- 39:05Speaker 2: about Trump, every single question. It was really insulting.
- 39:11Speaker 5: Going back to that interview yesterday. And I didn't be
- 39:13Speaker 5: honest with you. I did not intentionally. If I'm home
- 39:17Speaker 5: on Sundays, generally speaking, I'll check out the news shows.
- 39:19Speaker 5: But I didn't know the president was going to be on.
- 39:22Speaker 5: It just happened to be on me. And I saw
- 39:24Speaker 5: the set down interview, and I don't I think I
- 39:26Speaker 5: was reading or something while I had the TV going,
- 39:28Speaker 5: and all of a sudden, I was like, what am
- 39:29Speaker 5: I wanting?
- 39:30Speaker 3: This is like a Jerry Springer episode. I mean it was.
- 39:34Speaker 2: And she said she wants She said, they talked and
- 39:37Speaker 2: they're going to interview again. Why why?
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah? Why?
- 39:40Speaker 5: And of course there were the technical issues because they
- 39:43Speaker 5: were in a barn in Wisconsin with a metal roof,
- 39:45Speaker 5: and they kept having audio issues and so on and
- 39:48Speaker 5: so forth. But I mean some of the quotes that
- 39:52Speaker 5: the that the President put out there, this was a
- 39:56Speaker 5: direct quote, You're either crooked or you're stupid. Your elections
- 40:01Speaker 5: are crooked. Meet the press is crooked, and so is
- 40:03Speaker 5: ABC and CBS and C and ED. All right, let's
- 40:06Speaker 5: call it quits because I've had enough. Thank you, darling,
- 40:09Speaker 5: have a good time.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Thank you darling. Yeah, thank you darling.
- 40:16Speaker 3: That's the way. That's the way the interview ended.
- 40:18Speaker 5: And she was trying to, you know, to say, look,
- 40:20Speaker 5: I came here, came all the way to Wisconsin for
- 40:23Speaker 5: this interview, and I mean basically he came across and
- 40:27Speaker 5: I know I'm going to get accused of Trump derangement
- 40:29Speaker 5: syndrome or whatever. I am going to say this, he
- 40:32Speaker 5: came across in that interview as completely unhinged.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Is he is unhinged? I mean, he let me tell
- 40:40Speaker 2: you what's gonna happen. Do you know that the balance
- 40:44Speaker 2: and the Senate in the United States Senate hangs on
- 40:48Speaker 2: the back of a liberal Republican Susan Colton. And that's
- 40:56Speaker 2: why all you maga folks out there, you'd better be
- 40:59Speaker 2: pulling for her, because if she doesn't win that that
- 41:02Speaker 2: her seatback in Maine. She's a really good person and
- 41:06Speaker 2: she isn't going to seatback. The Democrats will probably take
- 41:10Speaker 2: the House. That means Schumer is uh gonna be the leader,
- 41:14Speaker 2: and that means he will pick all the all the
- 41:16Speaker 2: chairman of all the committees to side all the agendas.
- 41:20Speaker 2: So you better be you better be pulling for Susan.
- 41:24Speaker 5: Does Trump get involved and a lot of elections come
- 41:26Speaker 5: fall to raise his money, but I mean as far
- 41:29Speaker 5: as getting as involved if we as we seen him
- 41:32Speaker 5: in the past, because I mean his.
- 41:34Speaker 2: He got he got involved in Spencer Pratts and the
- 41:37Speaker 2: money and his numbers plummeted, we.
- 41:40Speaker 5: I think sometimes I mean, and again you can make
- 41:43Speaker 5: numbers say whatever you want to make numbers say. But
- 41:45Speaker 5: the truth is, no matter what polling you look out
- 41:49Speaker 5: outside certain areas, including West Virginia, and President Trump is
- 41:52Speaker 5: very unpopular, very unpopular, and mainly it's because of the economy.
- 41:57Speaker 5: And it doesn't matter whether it's right or wrong. People
- 41:59Speaker 5: blame that. I heard this analogy yesterday. Midterm elections are
- 42:03Speaker 5: report card of the guy in office. It doesn't matter
- 42:06Speaker 5: whether it's a Republican, Democrat, whatever, It's a report card
- 42:09Speaker 5: on where we are and nobody we're I mean, he
- 42:13Speaker 5: ran on, we're not going to get us involved in
- 42:15Speaker 5: any new wars.
- 42:16Speaker 3: We're involved.
- 42:17Speaker 5: Okay, but now I will say, no one in the
- 42:20Speaker 5: right mind thinks that Arrange should have a nuclear capability.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I get that, Okay.
- 42:24Speaker 2: He's just the wrong seller. He's the wrong salesman. And
- 42:30Speaker 2: they said, wasn't are you going to open up the
- 42:32Speaker 2: Australier horror movies?
- 42:33Speaker 3: He can't.
- 42:35Speaker 2: How can he that they're going to charge tolls? They've
- 42:40Speaker 2: got the place of mind. No, he's doing the only
- 42:44Speaker 2: thing he can do. He's got it blocked. Now. Pretty
- 42:48Speaker 2: soon China is going to say we need oil. And
- 42:54Speaker 2: if President Trump really want to do some damage to
- 42:58Speaker 2: a run. He blew up their oil fields. But then
- 43:01Speaker 2: what are you going to do to China? They get
- 43:04Speaker 2: a percentage I've heard up to forty percent from Iran,
- 43:09Speaker 2: and you don't want to bring them into it. This
- 43:12Speaker 2: is not their fight. I mean, we got a lot
- 43:14Speaker 2: we don't like about China, but this isn't We don't
- 43:16Speaker 2: want to get them involved. But he's right about the
- 43:22Speaker 2: nuclear weapon. But David, there's one more thing that nobody
- 43:28Speaker 2: talks about. Rubio talked about it once is the Intercontinental
- 43:33Speaker 2: Ballistic Missile System and that you can do inside of
- 43:36Speaker 2: a building, and they're building them and they could target
- 43:41Speaker 2: New York City and that's what worries me. Now we
- 43:45Speaker 2: can see where the we could bomb that again that
- 43:49Speaker 2: they've got that, you know, that stuff three hundred feet underground,
- 43:54Speaker 2: we get hit it again. I mean, I'm more concerned
- 43:58Speaker 2: about the ICBMs.

- 46:38Speaker 5: your show more than Pushkin is you, Dave, says a Texter.
- 46:43Speaker 2: He said, what they're.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Saying that I have Pushkinambie air a lot, well good.
- 46:47Speaker 5: He's a Democrat state chairman, Texays for better or worse.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Having a D or R helps one know the philosophy
- 46:54Speaker 5: of the person.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Well, then you can ask.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Okay or even conservative or liberal if not a party.
- 47:00Speaker 2: But when your sheriff, when you're running for sheriff for
- 47:02Speaker 2: Kennall County, you don't need a philosophy. Our problem was
- 47:06Speaker 2: that tax office was in a disarray, and that's what
- 47:09Speaker 2: I ran on. I never carried a gun and never
- 47:12Speaker 2: wore a uniform. I was just pretty man.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Stuck on that.
- 47:17Speaker 5: Today Texas has really messed up. A lot of people
- 47:19Speaker 5: say I don't pay attention to politics. They seemed to
- 47:22Speaker 5: not understand that politics affects every single aspect of their life.
- 47:25Speaker 5: So keeping people ignorantive issues, erasing and retelling history, and
- 47:29Speaker 5: unaware of crimes like billions of taxpayer dollars stolen fraud
- 47:33Speaker 5: on BS is the only way Democrats can win anything anymore.
- 47:39Speaker 2: That's not true. Look, I was around, I was there
- 47:44Speaker 2: when Democrats couldn't do anything but when and I won
- 47:49Speaker 2: because I ran alone.
- 47:53Speaker 5: A text you and Danny demand the Democrats is in
- 47:55Speaker 5: themselves for the National Party, whatever that means. Yet you
- 47:58Speaker 5: don't hold Republicans accountable for Trump pathetic show consistency and
- 48:02Speaker 5: make sure every Republican you bring on the show answer
- 48:04Speaker 5: for Trump destroying the economy, starting wars and viol behavior.
- 48:07Speaker 3: They're not going to do that because Trump is incredibly popular.
- 48:10Speaker 2: In West Virginia, there's two Republicans. Well, I don't like you.
- 48:13Speaker 3: I know there's two republic.
- 48:15Speaker 2: There's two Republican parties up there, and one is the speaker,
- 48:20Speaker 2: Roger Hanshaw, and the others Tokubo. Though those are my people,
- 48:26Speaker 2: those are the people I want run the show.
- 48:28Speaker 5: Texas what evidence is there that Iran said they'll nuke
- 48:31Speaker 5: the US or any country?
- 48:33Speaker 3: Where's the receipts?
- 48:36Speaker 5: I don't understand what evidence is there that Iran said
- 48:39Speaker 5: they will nuke the US.
- 48:41Speaker 2: They don't have to say it. We never told Japan
- 48:44Speaker 2: we were gonna nuke them.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Tex says Biden brought down in brought down inflation, gas
- 48:51Speaker 5: prices down, food prices down, and open a country that
- 48:54Speaker 5: Trump shut down and save ten million jobs.
- 48:56Speaker 3: What's Trump done lately? Nothing?
- 48:58Speaker 2: No, No, that's a little unfair because Trump went through
- 49:02Speaker 2: and then Biden went through the uh COVID and inflation
- 49:08Speaker 2: got up to nine percent under Biden. I'm not holding
- 49:11Speaker 2: either are responsible for that. My own personal view.
- 49:15Speaker 5: Texas Day just wanted to let people know our federal
- 49:17Speaker 5: taxes are going to upgrade power plants. So does this
- 49:20Speaker 5: mean the power companies will drop the six dollars a
- 49:22Speaker 5: month we pay on our bill for upgrading or is.
- 49:25Speaker 3: This going to be double dipping? Tex says, I'm an independent.
- 49:28Speaker 3: I vote as a middle class worker, and everything I
- 49:31Speaker 3: have today is because of unions and Democrats. Fact check Well, okay, okay.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Tex says, with the way Trump constantly is smeared and sold,
- 49:45Speaker 5: it an attacked by members of these media allies. He
- 49:48Speaker 5: still makes time to talk to them. Biden gave a
