- 2:37that episode, I kind of like the content I'm seeing. I'm gonna go

- 2:44to help out, even if you don't want to join the Patreon is to
- 2:49share the episode you like or the episodes you like. Speaking of episodes,
- 2:54so I've been on a rampage because there are a lot of people people who
- 3:00want more content, and I said, more content is coming and it is
- 3:02here. So in not last week, but before that, I did a
- 3:09top five albums of all time, Top five MC's of all time, and
- 3:16top five beats of all time. Obviously it's all subjective, it's my opinion.
- 3:24Most of it has to do with how I feel about these beats.
- 3:29Obviously, there there's so many beats, classic hip hop beats, from microphone
- 3:35fiend to you know what I'm saying, just so, just so many.
- 3:38I love the Benjamins beat. But I explain why I chose the five I
- 3:46did when it came to beats, when it came to album, when it
- 3:47came to came to mcs. So again, sure it's my personal list,
- 3:54but also I feel like it's a list where I can explain why these five
- 4:00of each category should be in your top five or at least in the top
- 4:04ten, or why generally it would be, you know, in a list,
- 4:11so you can check out that. But also if you're like, yeah,
- 4:14it's cool, you know, the old school's cool, But what's good,
- 4:16what's new? I did my annual Best of twenty twenty four so far,
- 4:25and it's a single episode. Typically I just use these weekly episodes to
- 4:29do that, but I decided, like, you know what, why don't
- 4:31I just go ahead and knock this out the proper way and just make it
- 4:38more or less a bonus episode. So I went over about a good nineteen
- 4:42projects, some albums, some EPs that I think are the best of twenty
- 4:47twenty four so far. If I had to pick my top five, they're
- 4:53in that list, and you could definitely tell which ones I'm highest on to
- 5:00the ones that I think are just dope. And I'm gonna just tell y'all
- 5:03now, man, this Dog Pound I've been there. I'm playing it like
- 5:09every day. And that doesn't mean there's not other dope stuff out or I
- 5:13don't listen to things but or other music. It's just that it's just been
- 5:19perfect for my mood at the moment. And those are the types of things
- 5:24that weigh in to my top five of the year at the end of the
- 5:28year. So we'll see, because word on the street is Doctor Dray and
- 5:32Snoop dropping next month in July, so who Knowlse, you know, it
- 5:40might be all death Row West coast all in my top five, so we'll
- 5:43see big shout out t hip Hop DX dot com at double XL dot com
- 5:49and brosing for heads in a couple of places where I get these stories from
- 5:54let's get ready to the business styles P had is now laid out the plans
- 6:02for his final album. If you don't know, stoles p is planning to
- 6:10retire from hip hop and instead of doing like just one solo joint in saying
- 6:16this my last album, he has a plan to roll out three projects.
- 6:21Now, I'm not gonna hold y'all. I could have sworn he said the
- 6:25same thing last year, and we got a project and I thought it was
- 6:30cool, but I thought it was one of the three, and then we
- 6:33didn't get anything else. Now is this story again? So maybe I got
- 6:38it wrong, but I was in plus the reception not saying people were saying
- 6:42it was whack, just a lot of there wasn't really a lot of conversation
- 6:46around it. I kind of in a lot of ways, I kind of
- 6:49felt like, damn, am I the only one that heard it? You
- 6:51know? And this was the album last year. So apparently it's a three
- 6:58part plan for his final solo so this is what he said. This is
- 7:03what he posted on Instagram. Last solo album will be a three part series
- 7:09broken up Ghost of the Past, ghost of the present, Ghost of the
- 7:15future. And then at the end he put Memoirs of a Gangster and a
- 7:19Gentleman. Now, I don't know because that's four so I guess the three
- 7:25parts. Maybe he's gonna do like an EP rollout for all three and then
- 7:30the final album is Memoirs of whatever, And he says this, I believe
- 7:36I have run myself down a tad bid over the past few years, being
- 7:42a super hard work in m SEE and a health advocate for one. For
- 7:47one, I'm not really that great at multitasking. It's actually my drive that
- 7:53keeps me going, and that slack falls back on my family, business partners
- 7:59and co workers. I thought about it harder and came to the conclusion that
- 8:03I need to walk away from my solo career period. I think I gave
- 8:07y'all enough. So for those who are wondering, he's really just talking about
- 8:16his solo career. So that means you'll still get stoles p on a Los
- 8:22album because if I'm not mistaken. This signed to Rock Nation and then release
- 8:28maybe two albums. I think so far on that label, one or two.
- 8:35So the solo career I give and I ain't gonna hold y'all. Stous
- 8:39P has put out mad music, Like if you're if you were like a
- 8:45quasi Locks fan, or you're this is pre versus because we know some of
- 8:50y'all wasn't fans and now you act like you've been Locks fans forever. Pre
- 8:56versus. A lot of people really only would check for Jadakiss when he dropped
- 9:03something, and that start to dwindle, and some people the heads would check
- 9:07for styles P because he was putting in a lot of work, and then
- 9:11people forget to check for chic solos and he drop a lot of albums.
- 9:16If I had to look at Styles's career thus far as a soloist, I
- 9:24think it's really solid. Like I think it's really solid. I think it's
- 9:28better than some people who haven't heard all his music, from the mixtapes to
- 9:33the albums, to the collaborative EPs like with him and Dave East, the
- 9:37album he had with him and Havoc. Like stoles P has been putting in
- 9:43a lot of work outside of the group, The Lox so maybe maybe we
- 9:52do a tearless we do a ranking of styles P solo albums, because he's
- 9:58got a ton of them, and he's got some dope mixtapes. And honestly,
- 10:03again, I think there's a lot of people who have no idea and
- 10:09they figure, you know, because some people do stuff like, oh well,
- 10:13I ain't really hear nothing, so it's probably not that good. Yo.
- 10:16Dog. Is way too much music out and there's so much good music
- 10:20getting ignored because you're waiting for a wave of people to talk about an album.
- 10:26Sometimes you just gotta go dig it and find it. And somebody like
- 10:31styles P, you shouldn't have to dig. You know his pedigree, and
- 10:33trust me, if you knew the locks and you like them for all three
- 10:39artists. Kiss is a little debatable. You should go and check out their
- 10:45catalog because it's mostly heat and I only say Kiss is debatable because when it
- 10:48comes to his albums, for the most part, you're not getting what you
- 10:54think you're gonna get. Like you're getting one or two or three of the
- 10:58Jada Kiss. You know, you know the Jay Kiss you still have Versus
- 11:01and then the other ones. He's more tapping in with new talent from different
- 11:09regions, so you know you make money that way. You go today town,
- 11:13you get ladies and gentlemen. J juice man. He does songs with
- 11:16these cats. Stoles P just give you bars, give you to sing,
- 11:20gangs to stuff that you know from the locks, but he also gives you
- 11:22consciousness. He's been putting in a lot of work. Even this rollout is
- 11:26a lot. So well see, I'm gonna obviously put my head to those,
- 11:31but if you want to see stoles Pe ranking, I'll definitely be down
- 11:35to do it because I've heard them all. So unless there's something I haven't
- 11:41heard, I literally heard all of his albums because I'm probably a bigger fan
- 11:46of him as a soloist than I am of Jadakiss and She. So they
- 11:52have it. What do you think about stoles P? Leave your comments in
- 11:56a comment section below. Benny, what you're called? Lloyd Banks one of
- 12:01the top MC's ever And it was in a video I think it was like
- 12:07an interview or maybe just him being live or whatever, and he said,
- 12:13like that's just a dude you can't mess around with when it comes to bars,
- 12:16Like if you're gonna be on the same song or he just feels like
- 12:22he's just that crazy when it comes to I don't use the word catchy,
- 12:28but I guess like clever rhyme schemes and stuff like that. And I'll just
- 12:35say this to Benny the Butcher. You preaching to the choir, okay,
- 12:39because I remember a time before Lloyd Banks dropped basically his trilogy of albums since
- 12:48I think like twenty twenty, where he was like officially back back to most
- 12:54people because it was albums and they had just packed with it. Even if
- 13:00you don't even go back and listen to anything else he's done, and you
- 13:05just listen to those three albums, you'll hear exactly what Benny the Butcher is
- 13:09talking about. But what I wanted to say is, prior to that,
- 13:15he was still dropping like mixtapes. The Halloween Havoc mixtape series is crazy.
- 13:20I think in a lot of ways, I feel like it better than the
- 13:24last three albums, and I didn't necessarily dislike. I think the only thing
- 13:28with Lloyd Bank's besides the bars and trust me, you could be nice,
- 13:35but that's not the only thing that counts is he can be monotone, which
- 13:43is fine, but he doesn't always convey emotion right. He can talk about
- 13:52something serious, right, Like these last three albums there was a lot of
- 13:56you know, serious subject matter for him. But I couldn't tell the difference
- 14:01between a dude who's rapping like about that and a dude who's rapping about the
- 14:07streets. And he sounded his emotion. His inflections do not change. And
- 14:13some people like that, and and I don't mind it as much, but
- 14:18I think if the bars are like okay on a certain record and the beat
- 14:24isn't that great, then him being monotone is way more noticeable. And sometimes
- 14:33it's hard to shake that as a listener because you're like, yo, you
- 14:37board on board, you know you soundboets on now on board. So I
- 14:43said all that to say, baby, Butcher's right. Regardless, I used
- 14:46to feel like him and Fabulous had the they kind of approached their verses in
- 14:54the same ways as far as how they would write as opposed to what they
- 15:00right about, but how they put their bars together, and the difference is
- 15:05fabulous. Even though he can somewhat sometimes be a little monotone, he does
- 15:11have different inflections and he just does different types of records, so the beats
- 15:18sometimes can always sound really bright. You know when I say bright, you
- 15:22know, like the energy is up not fast, but you know you have
- 15:28a slow beat that's kind of like raises your blood pressure a little bit,
- 15:33and then the bar is on there and you're like, oh yeah, I
- 15:37like this joint. What I think I want from Lloyd Banks after getting the
- 15:41trilogy of albums, because I think he fulfilled the bar thing for everybody who
- 15:46just want that. What I really want from him now is to collaborate with
- 15:54somebody that I don't know where they compliment each other lyrically, Like I don't
- 16:03I wouldn't want to Benny the Butcher and Lloyd Banks project because I already know
- 16:08what that's gonna sound like, and them two together is not gonna it's not
- 16:15gonna sound any different than if you ask me then listening to Conway and Bennie
- 16:18together. I think what made Lloyd Banks dope was that fifty was different from
- 16:26him, and Yay Yale was different from them, you know, Young Buck
- 16:30was different, like everybody was different, you know what I'm saying. How
- 16:34they approached it, no matter if they were talking about the same things.
- 16:37So I think in a lot of ways, having that would what, I
- 16:42don't know, kind of like extend his lyrical life at this point because do
- 16:48I want another album? Sure, of course, you know, but at
- 16:52the same time, I like the energy more so on the Halloween Havoc series.
- 16:59Then I did the trilogy of albums that he put out, which I
- 17:03think, really, I'm only man on the last album. The first two
- 17:08were I think. The last one I was kind of like, well,
- 17:12it feels like more of the same, whereas the Halloween Have It joy and
- 17:17I think Halloween Have It Three is my favorite. Halloween Have It Four just
- 17:22felt like, Yeah, this is the this is the Loyd Banks, this
- 17:25is the production, this is the energy I want to hear on his project.
- 17:29So well, see, I think he's energized by all of this attention
- 17:34and putting it work in this way, and you know, one of the
- 17:40best ever. I think you can make a case for him being top fifty
- 17:45maybe, but we would have to make that list and see who's on it
- 17:48and who's not on it. But it'd be difficult to leave him out,
- 17:53I tell you that much. And it don't mean he's fifty either. You
- 17:57know. The dude is nice. So they have it end. Lastly,
- 18:07so Common and Pete Rock have been ramping up for the release of their collaborative
- 18:15album. They've been hitting interview circuit, you know. They and been on
- 18:19math Hofer podcasts and been on drink camps. I think I watched about thirty
- 18:26forty five minutes to Drink Champs and then I was like, it's like,
- 18:30it's like two more hours ago. I can't do it. And it wasn't
- 18:34that I wasn't interested. It was just like, I don't know if I'm
- 18:38if I got enough within the time I watched to keep watching. So I'll
- 18:44just look for clips as they pop up from various interviews from these individuals.
- 18:51But this is coming from hip hop DX dot com and says coming and Pete
- 18:55Rock announced album release date, drop new single Dreaming and I Ain't Gonna hold
- 19:03y'all. The first the first single called wise Up that sample the Bridges over
- 19:10by mc shann. I was like, I didn't even know I wanted this,
- 19:15Like this is this is hip hop? You know what I'm saying?
- 19:19This is hip hop the beat, the way that Pete made the beat,
- 19:25COmON doing what he does. People pretending like yo he getting back to like
- 19:30I heard the later albums. He's still rhyming the same way. He just
- 19:33got Pete Rock on the beats. That's the difference. So to me,
- 19:37Coment never really fell off. He just didn't make the music that you like.
- 19:42But now you're getting that. And COmON talked I will say this.
- 19:48Com And talked in interviews about what inspired him, and he said during the
- 19:53lockdown, you know, he had a lot of time to reflect and he
- 19:57was just listening to nineties hip hop like crazy, like that's all he was
- 20:03listening to. He was just going through albums listen to it, and that
- 20:08energy just fueled him. And he comes from that time, you know what
- 20:12I'm saying. And you know he thought to link with pe Rock and here
- 20:18we are. So the album set to be released on July twelfth on streaming
- 20:26plat streaming platforms, but also they'll be CD, vinyl, an cassette available.
- 20:34The album is called The Auditorium Volume one, which is interesting because that
- 20:40means they probably did enough records for a volume two and maybe a volume three,
- 20:47so we'll see. But the latest song, Dreaming is let me say
- 20:56this, the common is dope on it as usual, but I gotta say
- 21:00this. I tweeted it or whatever. But what Pete Rock did with that
- 21:07beat, with that sample, I'm just like, I don't know if Pete
- 21:15Rock made them joints new or he been sitting on him. But what I
- 21:19do know is Na's a Premier. You have something to shoot for now.
- 21:27I know Na's gonna be in the pocket. But Premier, we're gonna,
- 21:33We're gonna. I like what you did on the dog Pound joint. But
- 21:36let's be real, it's the sound we're used to hearing from Premier, to
- 21:41be honest, But what Pete Rock is doing with these beats with Common I
- 21:49have I don't know if I've even really paid that much attention to what Common's
- 21:53saying because I'm like, yo, this beat is crazy. So shout out
- 22:00to Pete Rock for sure. Obviously shout out to Common also, But this
- 22:06album is based off of the two songs I heard, even though I believe
- 22:12there was a third record that they started with that I don't believe is on
- 22:19the album. I did have an idea of the amount of songs on there.
- 22:30I saw the put it this way. The back cover is available for
- 22:34you to look at the number of songs and who's on there. It ain't
- 22:38loaded with a bunch of features from hip hop artists at all. I think
- 22:42Blao is on there, and maybe two other people I know Pasta News is
- 22:48on there, Ayla Soul or pos or whatever I call them there, So
- 22:53I think I think I like that idea of let's not let's not do what
- 23:02people do now, because having a bunch of features is fine with me personally,
- 23:08but doing that as a way to market the album, Like, yo,
- 23:15look at all these features, you know what I'm saying, And maybe
- 23:18that's the reason why people aren't going too crazy about it. And it's really
- 23:22making you focus on Pete Rock and Common and what they did together, and
- 23:27it's sounded dope so far. I cannot see this not being in my top
- 23:36five of the year. If the beats are going to be like this,
- 23:40there's one feature I wouldn't mind if they did it, Like, let's just
- 23:45get Common and Nons one more time on a track. You know they did
- 23:49a They had a dope track on the Dream of Believer album. I believe
- 23:56Ghetto Dreams that was what it was called. That song was crazy comment and
- 24:00now it's killed it and I'm like, can we get another one? Of
- 24:03those you know. But if this is volume one, volume two will probably
- 24:08have a couple of joints, so we'll see. Man, what's your excitement
- 24:14level? Or comment? And Pete Rock, have you heard Wise Up and
- 24:18Dreaming? You should because if you're a hip hop head, this is like
- 24:25Christmas for you. To be honest, leave your comments in a comment section
- 24:29below. I answer, I read, I like you look at everything that's
- 24:33in the comments section on your cantube trying to get the five hundred subscribers.
