- 0:08Speaker 1: free wide receivers now in motion has Pumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line. He throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catch in
- 0:21Speaker 1: the end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Pumpas,
- 0:25Speaker 1: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:29Speaker 1: a place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Well,
- 0:33Speaker 1: when a Hawk Talk Preview edition Week six, the Seattle
- 0:37Speaker 1: Seahawks travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers, we're
- 0:40Speaker 1: gonna send it over to NASA Shelby with these injury updates,
- 0:43Speaker 1: thanks bump Well, we'll start with the obvious news. Starting
- 0:45Speaker 1: quarterback Russell Wilson injured his finger last Thursday night against
- 0:48Speaker 1: the Rams, hitting his finger on Aaron Donald's hand. Unfortunately,
- 0:52Speaker 1: that required surgery, and according to head coach Pete Carroll,
- 0:54Speaker 1: things went very well all things considered. Russ had a
- 0:57Speaker 1: very successful surgery and we're really happy with all of
- 1:01Speaker 1: the reports, and we don't have any timelines for you
- 1:04Speaker 1: at all right now, so that then that's all you
- 1:06Speaker 1: want to hear, But we don't have anything like that.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But he's in really good spirits and really active today
- 1:12Speaker 1: as much as he can be around us and all that,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and really happy for the results of you know, the
- 1:17Speaker 1: initial part of it. We haven't seen very main doctors
- 1:20Speaker 1: that ever say, you know, well, I didn't go that well.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But but he went to a great doc and a
- 1:26Speaker 1: great setup and all that, and it seems like he
- 1:28Speaker 1: really matched out what he could possibly get done. Another
- 1:31Speaker 1: thing to keep an eye out for is running back
- 1:32Speaker 1: Chris Carson, who was held out last week with a
- 1:34Speaker 1: neck injury. Pee Carroll hopes to get Chris Carson back tomorrow.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I think we're gonna hold him out. He went through
- 1:40Speaker 1: the walk through today. I think we're gonna hold him
- 1:41Speaker 1: out today and bring him back tomorrow and see how
- 1:43Speaker 1: he does. Lastly, and on a positive note, fourth round
- 1:46Speaker 1: pick Trey Brown looks like he's ready to compete after
- 1:48Speaker 1: returning from ir after missing the team's first five games
- 1:51Speaker 1: with a knee injury. Here was head coach Pee Carroll,
- 1:53Speaker 1: this is going to be a real week for him.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Last week was the you know, the partial week. I've
- 1:58Speaker 1: already talked to him about this is the time he
- 2:00Speaker 1: comes back to action and let's see if he can
- 2:02Speaker 1: return to the level of play. When he got hurt,
- 2:06Speaker 1: he was right at the verge of competing to be,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you know, in the play playtime, and uh we've done
- 2:12Speaker 1: a lot of positive things and unfortunately his knee acted
- 2:15Speaker 1: up and he couldn't you know, couldn't respond right then.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But uh so I'm going back to where he was,
- 2:19Speaker 1: and like I said to him today, let's let's pick
- 2:21Speaker 1: up where you left off and show us that you
- 2:22Speaker 1: got your stuff together, and let's see what that leaves
- 2:25Speaker 1: you in the competition of it. So, um, he'll be battling,
- 2:28Speaker 1: but he's he's full going, ready to go. All right,
- 2:30Speaker 1: now that we've talked about the injuries, let's get into it.
- 2:32Speaker 1: The Pittsburgh Steelers versus Seattle Seahawks. What's on tap? What's
- 2:39Speaker 1: on tap? The Seahawks are heading across the country after
- 2:44Speaker 1: suffering itself lost last Thursday to the Los Angeles Rams,
- 2:48Speaker 1: they had a long weekend, they're back at it. They're
- 2:49Speaker 1: on the practice field getting ready for these Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 2:52Speaker 1: who were two and three on this season. They opened
- 2:55Speaker 1: the season with an impressive win over the Buffalo Bills.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That's the Bill's only lost, beating them twenty three to sixteen.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Then they had then things got hard man three straight losses.
- 3:03Speaker 1: They lost twenty six to seventeen to the Las Vegas Raiders,
- 3:06Speaker 1: twenty four to ten to the Cincinnati Bengals, in twenty
- 3:08Speaker 1: seven to seventeen to the Packers. So they were reeling
- 3:11Speaker 1: three game losing streak and they went into that game
- 3:14Speaker 1: on Sunday trying to get off that nod and badly
- 3:17Speaker 1: needing a victory, and they got that done. Got to
- 3:19Speaker 1: win over the Denver Broncos twenty seven to nineteen. Ben
- 3:23Speaker 1: Roethlisberger and the offensive line has been pretty noted that
- 3:26Speaker 1: they've had struggles this year. It hasn't been a great
- 3:29Speaker 1: year for them offensively and disappointing, but they got a
- 3:32Speaker 1: huge win last week a bump. The thing that jumped
- 3:34Speaker 1: out to me last week was Naji harris Man, Alabama's
- 3:37Speaker 1: finance ran for a career best one hundred and twenty
- 3:39Speaker 1: two yards and a touchdown. He had a couple of
- 3:42Speaker 1: cramping issues in the second half and he kind of
- 3:44Speaker 1: had to sit on the sideline as Denver made a
- 3:46Speaker 1: furious comeback. Man, they were up by eighteen. Teddy Bridgewater
- 3:50Speaker 1: brings them back. I love Teddy. Two touchdown passes in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the game came to an end
- 3:55Speaker 1: on a fourth down heave with eleven seconds lap that
- 3:58Speaker 1: was intercepted in the end zone. Steelers hold on to victory.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger finished the day probably one of his better
- 4:04Speaker 1: performance of the season. When fifteen to twenty five or
- 4:07Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty three yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 1: Ben looked all right, man. You mentioned fifteen to twenty
- 4:12Speaker 1: five to fifty three, two touchdowns. Honestly, I thought Ben
- 4:16Speaker 1: was gonna have an okay season this year. But he's
- 4:18Speaker 1: starting to look old. But it always helps when you
- 4:21Speaker 1: have a run game going. Nagy Hair stepping up. Chase
- 4:24Speaker 1: Claypool had five receptions, one hundred and thirty yards and
- 4:27Speaker 1: one touchdowns. The Steelers offensive line had their best game
- 4:30Speaker 1: of the year, giving up just one sack, and Minca
- 4:33Speaker 1: Fitzpatrick led all defenders with ten tackles and one tackle
- 4:36Speaker 1: for loss. On the downside for the Steelers, wide receiver
- 4:39Speaker 1: Juju Smith Schuster went to the hospital with a shoulder injury.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Probably not gonna make it back for at least four months,
- 4:45Speaker 1: might be the rest of the year. That's unfortunate for
- 4:48Speaker 1: that young man. But thankfully they got a couple other
- 4:50Speaker 1: receivers over there that can pick up the slack. But
- 4:52Speaker 1: Juju man that has to hurt this offensive production. Yeah,
- 4:55Speaker 1: no question, jud is probably the most dynamic electric player
- 4:58Speaker 1: they have. But they're still talented offensively. And that's why
- 5:01Speaker 1: I was kind of interesting why they're struggling so much
- 5:04Speaker 1: on offense and just in general. So let's jump into
- 5:07Speaker 1: his head to head comparison now looking at this, I'll
- 5:11Speaker 1: start with defense again. It's unfortunate. I feel like I'm
- 5:16Speaker 1: banging my head against the wall. I hate to look
- 5:18Speaker 1: at these defensive numbers because I know the coaching staff
- 5:21Speaker 1: doesn't like it. I don't like looking at it. The
- 5:22Speaker 1: Seahawks ranked thirty second to last in the NFL in
- 5:25Speaker 1: total defense, giving up four hundred and fifty yards a game.
- 5:28Speaker 1: They're ranked thirty one in rush defense, giving up one
- 5:30Speaker 1: hundred and forty five yards on the ground, and thirtieth
- 5:33Speaker 1: in pass defense, given up three hundred and five through
- 5:37Speaker 1: the air, thirtieth in the National Football League. On the
- 5:39Speaker 1: flip side of the the Steelers are pretty much in the
- 5:41Speaker 1: middle of the pack. They are sixteenth in total defense,
- 5:44Speaker 1: giving up three hundred and sixty one yards a game.
- 5:46Speaker 1: They're pretty good stopping the run. They're ninth in the NFL,
- 5:49Speaker 1: only giving up one hundred yards per game, and through
- 5:52Speaker 1: the air they're giving up two hundred and sixty yards
- 5:54Speaker 1: which is nineteenth in the NFL. And points per game
- 5:56Speaker 1: they're allowing twenty two points a game, which is tenth
- 5:59Speaker 1: in National Football League. So the Steelers are doing some
- 6:01Speaker 1: good things. We're gonna jump into the matchups there defensively,
- 6:03Speaker 1: but when you look at his head to head, obviously
- 6:05Speaker 1: the Steelers have a big time advantage, and we're just waiting, Bump.
- 6:09Speaker 1: We were just waiting for the Seahawks defensively to do
- 6:12Speaker 1: it we know they can do and put four quarters together.
- 6:14Speaker 1: We saw half last week or against the Rams. You know,
- 6:17Speaker 1: we saw half against the Titans. We've seen streaks in
- 6:20Speaker 1: times against the forty nine Ers, we saw pretty close
- 6:22Speaker 1: to a full game against the Colts. We're just waiting
- 6:25Speaker 1: to see it all come together and we know they
- 6:27Speaker 1: can do it. They just have to eventually do it, man,
- 6:28Speaker 1: because at this point in the year, it's time to go.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It's time to go. I'm done with advertisers. Give me
- 6:33Speaker 1: the full meal. Now, let's talk about this offense, this
- 6:36Speaker 1: new Geno Smith offense. Okay, now, these numbers don't reflects Gino,
- 6:39Speaker 1: but he is the leader now of this offensive unit.
- 6:42Speaker 1: All right. The offensive rank nineteenth in NFL. Talking about
- 6:45Speaker 1: the Seahawks averaging in three hunt to fifty one yards
- 6:47Speaker 1: per game, They're nineteenth running in the ball average in
- 6:49Speaker 1: one hundred and four yards per game. Passing the rock,
- 6:51Speaker 1: they're tied for sixteenth, averaging two hundred and forty seven
- 6:54Speaker 1: yards per game. On the other side of the Steelers
- 6:56Speaker 1: are ranked twenty seventh averaging three hundred nineteen to the yards,
- 7:00Speaker 1: thirty first against running the football, averaging seventy three point
- 7:04Speaker 1: six yards per game, and in the past they are
- 7:06Speaker 1: nineteenth averaging two hundred and forty six yards per game.
- 7:10Speaker 1: This looks like a game nasks that maybe the defense
- 7:13Speaker 1: and get right. You have Ben Roethlisberger, who's not the
- 7:15Speaker 1: bind that he used to be. He's slowing. The pocket
- 7:18Speaker 1: is not very mobile. You lose Juju Smith Schuster, but
- 7:21Speaker 1: Nagi Harris, like he said, this, had one of his
- 7:23Speaker 1: best performances as a Rockie hundred twenty two yards. They
- 7:26Speaker 1: still got a couple good receivers over there, and the
- 7:29Speaker 1: Hawks have played well back East. Okay, every week, we're
- 7:32Speaker 1: gonna find ways to make you guys believe. I just
- 7:36Speaker 1: gave you a a few stats. Right there, be league baby,
- 7:38Speaker 1: let's get it done. Know your history, No your history.
- 7:42Speaker 1: As you mentioned, the Seahawks have been very comfortable making
- 7:44Speaker 1: these cross country trips and they are much better at those,
- 7:47Speaker 1: not back when Bump played. We know who's that's well documented.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Things have changed in the current times series record against
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Steelers and the Seahawks. The Seahawks leave that all
- 7:56Speaker 1: time series ten to nine, including the postseason, with the
- 7:59Speaker 1: Seahawks winning the last two matchups. If you remember their
- 8:02Speaker 1: last meeting, that was in twenty nineteen, the Seahawks won
- 8:04Speaker 1: twenty eight to twenty six. In Week two, Russell Wilson
- 8:06Speaker 1: had a big day, thrown for three hundred yards three touchdowns.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger didn't play in the second half, left the
- 8:12Speaker 1: game with an elbow injury that ended up ending his season.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Never played another down for them that year. And then
- 8:19Speaker 1: so in that game, Pittsburgh trailed by chew in the
- 8:21Speaker 1: fourth quarter and they kind of had the momentum they're
- 8:23Speaker 1: coming back in the game. Seahawks were facing a third
- 8:25Speaker 1: and twenty Russell Wilson throws a jump ball to Hyder
- 8:27Speaker 1: Lockett passed was incomplete, but if you guys remember twenty nineteen,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you could challenge the pass interference rule. One of the
- 8:33Speaker 1: few times we have the whole league that someone want
- 8:36Speaker 1: to challenge. But Coach Carroll won that challenge and the
- 8:40Speaker 1: thirty thirty eight yard penalty was the forest. The Seahawks
- 8:43Speaker 1: scored two plays later with DK metcalf touchdown juggling in
- 8:46Speaker 1: the back of the end zone. The Steelers tried to
- 8:48Speaker 1: make an interesting later in the game, drew within two
- 8:50Speaker 1: points once again, but Chris Carson and Ice the game
- 8:52Speaker 1: with a two yard game on a fourth and one
- 8:54Speaker 1: with two minutes remaining, and those boys took some knees.
- 8:57Speaker 1: So it was good because that win snapped a really
- 9:00Speaker 1: long losing streak in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. So the
- 9:03Speaker 1: Seahawks are riding a winning strink against that bunch, so
- 9:05Speaker 1: hopefully they can keep that going bump. But as we
- 9:08Speaker 1: talk about every week, the NFC West is a problem
- 9:12Speaker 1: for the entire football league and they're still playing some
- 9:13Speaker 1: good football. What's the word? And the Seahawks for the
- 9:21Speaker 1: NFC West champs again, what's the word? In the West?
- 9:25Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk West West. The West is still getting
- 9:29Speaker 1: down Arizona Cardinals sitting at top of the Division five
- 9:32Speaker 1: and though Los Angeles Brands right behind him at four
- 9:34Speaker 1: and one, the Hawks in the niners bottom two, sitting
- 9:38Speaker 1: at two in three. There's another battle in the NFC West.
- 9:41Speaker 1: This weekend, the Arizona Cardinals remained the only undefeated team
- 9:44Speaker 1: in the NFL after beating the forty nine or seventeen
- 9:48Speaker 1: to old in a defensive battle. We got a chance
- 9:50Speaker 1: to look at Trey Lance for the first time. He
- 9:52Speaker 1: got his first start fifteen to twenty nine, one hundred
- 9:55Speaker 1: ninety two yards, zero touchdowns, one interceptions, but he did
- 9:59Speaker 1: leave the forty nin rushing eighty nine yards sixteen carries.
- 10:02Speaker 1: But he struggled and throwing the ball around. He looked
- 10:03Speaker 1: like a rookie at times. However, one of the biggest
- 10:06Speaker 1: players of the game was when the forty nineties went
- 10:08Speaker 1: on the thirteen play ninety three yard drive. But Trey
- 10:11Speaker 1: Lance will stop at the goal line on four in
- 10:13Speaker 1: one in the second quarter. He should went over the
- 10:16Speaker 1: top there. He tried to slide underneath. I remember watching
- 10:19Speaker 1: that game. Unlike Trey Lanz, you're a big boy, go
- 10:22Speaker 1: over the top there. And then the Cardinals went to
- 10:24Speaker 1: half of ten to zero, coming out both team straighty
- 10:27Speaker 1: touchdowns in the third quarter, making the score seventeen to seven.
- 10:30Speaker 1: The forty nineties kick a field goal with four minutes
- 10:33Speaker 1: twelve seconds remaining in the game, making the score seventeen
- 10:36Speaker 1: to zero. The Niners were unable to get a stop
- 10:39Speaker 1: as the Cardinals picked up a couple of first downs
- 10:41Speaker 1: to ice the game. And what makes things worse, Trey
- 10:45Speaker 1: Lance has a sprain name. But they're coming on a
- 10:48Speaker 1: bye week, to have a bye week here, so there's
- 10:49Speaker 1: time to get things right. I saw good and bad
- 10:52Speaker 1: with Trey lands now. So I saw a guy who
- 10:55Speaker 1: was clearly athletic, can really spend that football. But I
- 10:59Speaker 1: saw an offense I was kind of handcuffed because they
- 11:02Speaker 1: didn't want want to do too much with the rookie.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I saw a big body like I mentioned at the
- 11:07Speaker 1: goal line you go over the top, young fella. You
- 11:09Speaker 1: can't lower your shoulders and trying to run over linebackers
- 11:12Speaker 1: and safety. That's not gonna happen. This is not big
- 11:14Speaker 1: Sky football or FCS football wherever you came from. You
- 11:18Speaker 1: gotta get big and go over the top. But there's
- 11:20Speaker 1: some promise in this young man. I mean there's a
- 11:22Speaker 1: couple of throws. H I'm like, all right, I can
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of see what they're working with is I'm interested
- 11:27Speaker 1: to see how he looks now after having what a
- 11:30Speaker 1: couple of weeks essentially to get right and try to
- 11:33Speaker 1: figure some things out. Yeah, no, you mentioned it. There
- 11:35Speaker 1: was good and bad from Trey Lance. He did a
- 11:38Speaker 1: couple of things, and it was kind of the accuracy
- 11:40Speaker 1: for me. He missed a couple of throws. I think
- 11:43Speaker 1: decision making a little bit. I mean, once you're playing
- 11:45Speaker 1: every down and bolts are flying and you're out there
- 11:48Speaker 1: on the field, it gets difficult. I did notice that
- 11:51Speaker 1: they really simplified the game playing down and he's gonna
- 11:53Speaker 1: be They're gonna use him on the ground a lot
- 11:56Speaker 1: when he's in the game. They're gonna run a lot
- 11:58Speaker 1: of that stuff. I mean, he had eighty nine yards
- 12:00Speaker 1: on sixteen carry, so giving them ball that one touchdown.
- 12:03Speaker 1: If you're a forty nine Ers fan, you are six
- 12:05Speaker 1: to your stomach. You're like, oh my goodness, it's about
- 12:07Speaker 1: to get knocked out because that was a big hit
- 12:09Speaker 1: that Simmons put on him on the goal line. It
- 12:11Speaker 1: really would have changed the game, because you know, they
- 12:13Speaker 1: ended up losing seventeen to ten, but that that was
- 12:15Speaker 1: a difference in the game right there. But no Trey Lance.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I think there's something there. We can see it, but
- 12:20Speaker 1: he's a rookie. It's gonna take time, especially trying to
- 12:23Speaker 1: pick up that Shanahan offense, and Kyle is going to
- 12:25Speaker 1: do the best he can to get him up, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 1: upright and ready to go for their next matchup. And
- 12:30Speaker 1: also thing to look for is when Jimmy G's gonna
- 12:32Speaker 1: come back. Now they have some time Max with Jami's
- 12:34Speaker 1: gonna try to work back in. Trey Lances banged up
- 12:36Speaker 1: trying to work back in. So the Niners are in
- 12:39Speaker 1: a tough spot, but they're so are the Seattle Seahawks.
- 12:42Speaker 1: You know, that victory by the Cardinals, now the Seahawks
- 12:45Speaker 1: are three games behind the division lead. The Seahawks will
- 12:49Speaker 1: play their next divisional game against those Cardinals on Sunday,
- 12:51Speaker 1: November twenty first, hopefully that game will be was starting
- 12:56Speaker 1: quarterback Russell Wilson. Yeah, the Seahawks, Let's be frank, they
- 13:00Speaker 1: got some work to do. I'm not one to write
- 13:03Speaker 1: them off of the division right now this early in
- 13:05Speaker 1: the season. With that being said, though, there's not a
- 13:08Speaker 1: lot of room for air. You got three games. I
- 13:10Speaker 1: know everyone downstairs and in this facility is concerned about Sunday,
- 13:15Speaker 1: but just big picture thinking, you have a huge three
- 13:17Speaker 1: week span here, we don't. Russell Wilson is hoping to
- 13:20Speaker 1: target that Green Bay game to make his return. Now,
- 13:24Speaker 1: if you can go three and oh and you go
- 13:25Speaker 1: to the bye week five and three, I think you're
- 13:27Speaker 1: just fine because listen to Cardinals, They're not gonna go
- 13:29Speaker 1: seventeen and now, they're not gonna go sixteen and one.
- 13:31Speaker 1: They're not even gonna go fifteen and two. Okay, So
- 13:34Speaker 1: and you got two games against them, so you can
- 13:36Speaker 1: get back in this division. But to get there, it
- 13:38Speaker 1: starts this weekend against the Pittsburgh Seelers. Let's get in
- 13:41Speaker 1: those matchups. Man up is this whole man up? On
- 13:52Speaker 1: Hawk Talk we started we always do with quarterback. We're
- 13:55Speaker 1: gonna take a look at Ben Roethlisberger versus Seahawks defense. Now,
- 14:00Speaker 1: Ben is a really interesting player this year and just
- 14:03Speaker 1: in general. He's had so much success in the National
- 14:05Speaker 1: Football League. He has been a staple in the Pittsburgh
- 14:08Speaker 1: Steelers organization. He's done a lot of great things. He's
- 14:10Speaker 1: brought them to a super Bowl in twenty twenty one.
- 14:13Speaker 1: He's one hundred and twenty four for one hundred and
- 14:15Speaker 1: ninety five with one two hundred and eighty six yards,
- 14:18Speaker 1: six touchdowns, four interceptions, and has been sacked eleven times. Now,
- 14:22Speaker 1: if you're a Seattle fan, you think eleven times over
- 14:24Speaker 1: five weeks, that's not that bad. That's you know, We're
- 14:27Speaker 1: used to seeing higher sack numbers here. But he was
- 14:30Speaker 1: only sacked thirteen times in the fifteen games he played
- 14:33Speaker 1: last year. So obviously something is not going in their
- 14:37Speaker 1: favor up front. I know a lot of the national
- 14:39Speaker 1: narratives that they're not playing well upfront. Protections have been
- 14:42Speaker 1: an issue, and Ben isn't playing as good as he
- 14:44Speaker 1: has in the past, completing sixty three percent of his passes,
- 14:47Speaker 1: six carries for nine yards on the season. So that
- 14:51Speaker 1: tells you the mobility, right. Yeah. So the thing about
- 14:55Speaker 1: me bump that I'm curious about. So last year he
- 14:58Speaker 1: led the Stealers tough with twelve and four rec They
- 15:00Speaker 1: opened the year eleven and oh there's guns blaze and
- 15:03Speaker 1: everything was going good. They end up winning a division title,
- 15:05Speaker 1: even though they slipped down the stretch. And there's been
- 15:08Speaker 1: a lot of whispers starting last year about Ben Roethlisberger.
- 15:11Speaker 1: How much does he have less than the tank? What
- 15:13Speaker 1: you know, there's I know there's contract disputes. He ended
- 15:16Speaker 1: up taking less money going in this season, but the
- 15:19Speaker 1: whispers have gotten louder. There's been some poor play last year.
- 15:23Speaker 1: He still did have thirty three touchdowns and ten interceptions,
- 15:25Speaker 1: but it's been a struggle. What first of all, I
- 15:29Speaker 1: guess number one, what have you seen from him specifically?
- 15:31Speaker 1: And do you think this will be the last year
- 15:34Speaker 1: that Ben sits up for the Steelers? What they hollering now?
- 15:37Speaker 1: I ain't know? Whispers? No more people are hollering about
- 15:40Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger. And I think this is is last season.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I really do. And all right, I mentioned I was
- 15:46Speaker 1: one of the guys who thought that Ben was gonna
- 15:48Speaker 1: be Okay, thirty three touchdowns last year, ten interceptions. You'll
- 15:51Speaker 1: take that from any starter any year, honestly. But something
- 15:55Speaker 1: has changed this year, and it's crazy what an offseason
- 15:58Speaker 1: will do. Mike Thomas has done a great job of
- 16:00Speaker 1: standing by him, letting people know this is our quarterback.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna ride with him as long as he wants
- 16:05Speaker 1: to play. But you just look at his play like
- 16:07Speaker 1: he can't throw the ball down and feel like he
- 16:09Speaker 1: used to. He was never really mobile, but he was
- 16:11Speaker 1: mobile enough right to get outside the pocket. He's a big,
- 16:14Speaker 1: strong dude. He doesn't even look strong anymore. And it
- 16:17Speaker 1: hurts when I talk about guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Juwbers,
- 16:21Speaker 1: because these are the guys we grew up on, right,
- 16:23Speaker 1: these are the guys that we love seeing play. So
- 16:25Speaker 1: it hurts for me to see him play the way
- 16:28Speaker 1: he is right now. But I think it's done, man,
- 16:31Speaker 1: And what what's next is where do you go from here?
- 16:36Speaker 1: You don't go Kyle Rudolph, You don't go Dwayne Haskins.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Dwayne Haskin might be a band aid for a year
- 16:40Speaker 1: or whatnot, but I don't think they're gonna be bad
- 16:43Speaker 1: enough to have a high draft pick to get into
- 16:44Speaker 1: the quarterback either. So that's why this team is in
- 16:48Speaker 1: a tough place. Yeah, no, that's hard. I mean that's
- 16:50Speaker 1: the other thing too. When people were asking, you know,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I think it was after they're they're lost to Green
- 16:54Speaker 1: Bass there. They've lost three in a one and three
- 16:56Speaker 1: in the year, and I think Tom Olins asked about
- 16:58Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger and he's like, are you kidding me? Of course,
- 17:00Speaker 1: Ben's our quarterback. And it's kind of one of those
- 17:02Speaker 1: things where it's like, I'm, you know, without saying it,
- 17:05Speaker 1: what else you want us to do? I really think
- 17:08Speaker 1: one of the other quarterbacks is a better chance to win.
- 17:10Speaker 1: That's not true if Ben is not playing the level
- 17:12Speaker 1: that he's been capable that he was playing out earlier
- 17:15Speaker 1: in his career, even a couple of years ago. So
- 17:17Speaker 1: that's that's obvious. But I mean he's their best option.
- 17:20Speaker 1: And here's the thing. While you know, I said whispers,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you said people are hollower, and now people are yelling.
- 17:27Speaker 1: While that's true, he can't take this man lightly. Man,
- 17:30Speaker 1: you can't, especially with how the Seahawks have performed defensively,
- 17:34Speaker 1: at least statistically. He can still throw the ball. Still,
- 17:36Speaker 1: he'll still if there were places to be made, he
- 17:38Speaker 1: will take them. So this is But with that being said,
- 17:41Speaker 1: this is a huge game for the Seahawks and it's
- 17:43Speaker 1: a lot of potential for them to really bounce back.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You know, I mentioned earlier. You know, they're not doing
- 17:49Speaker 1: well in the defensive categories. Through five games, the Seahawks
- 17:51Speaker 1: are in the same position as they were in twenty twenty,
- 17:53Speaker 1: actually a tiny bit worse, meaning throw on a historic pace,
- 17:57Speaker 1: giving up the most yards in NFL history, that kind
- 17:59Speaker 1: of thing. We obviously know what happened to the end
- 18:01Speaker 1: of last year the last eight games. They turned around
- 18:03Speaker 1: and they became one of the best defenses in the
- 18:05Speaker 1: National Football League and fix all that stuff, and I
- 18:09Speaker 1: have faith that the Seahawks can get there. They just
- 18:12Speaker 1: have to. It has to start somewhere, right, you know,
- 18:15Speaker 1: Paul Moore us always talking about breaking the season up
- 18:17Speaker 1: into quarters. The seventeen game kind of messed all that up.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But the same kind of thought process last year. The
- 18:23Speaker 1: Seahawks are horrific in the first quarter, second quarter, there
- 18:26Speaker 1: is improvement, but they weren't right there. Third and fourth,
- 18:29Speaker 1: as Pete Carroll preachers can't win the game the first quarter.
- 18:31Speaker 1: They finished really strong and they started to get things corrected.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Now they have a huge opportunity to do that this week.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You know, Ben, They're struggling to protect Ben Roethlisberger. He's
- 18:38Speaker 1: not getting the ball down field as much, so they
- 18:41Speaker 1: need to find a way to get after him number one. Defensively,
- 18:45Speaker 1: straight up, they need to pressure Ben Roethlisberger. The man
- 18:48Speaker 1: will be a statue. He is not running anywhere. He's
- 18:52Speaker 1: easier to bring down. The used to be because he
- 18:54Speaker 1: is a big guy. So he wasn't easy due to
- 18:56Speaker 1: sack just because of his stature. But he's not that
- 18:58Speaker 1: same guy anymore. So you're gonna need to get pressure
- 19:00Speaker 1: upfront and then in the back end. You know, it's
- 19:03Speaker 1: been it's been a thing. It's the middle of the field, bump,
- 19:06Speaker 1: it's the middle of the field. And we'll talk about
- 19:07Speaker 1: this a little bit more in some of the matches.
- 19:08Speaker 1: But the Seahawks need to execute better in that phase
- 19:12Speaker 1: of the game. But like I said, they have a
- 19:13Speaker 1: huge opportunity to get after an aging QB in a
- 19:16Speaker 1: struggling offense. Improvement needs to happen on all phases of
- 19:20Speaker 1: the game and on defense should be a number one priority.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Get after Ben. That's their quarterback. You know who our
- 19:26Speaker 1: quarterback is, Genos man Gino no geo ge No, you're
- 19:31Speaker 1: the twelves. Last Thursday, let's go. G Twells got behind him.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Man Twells were chatting his name, and they kind of
- 19:37Speaker 1: did it at the wrong time because you're on offense.
- 19:39Speaker 1: You want it, you want to be quiet there. But
- 19:40Speaker 1: I appreciate their excitement. They're like, look, man, we're gonna
- 19:43Speaker 1: get behind our dude. What did Gino do? That goes
- 19:45Speaker 1: on at ten play ninety eight yard drive and with
- 19:47Speaker 1: a touchdown too. DK metcalf against the Rams last Thursday. Now,
- 19:52Speaker 1: the last time someone not named Russell Wilson started a
- 19:55Speaker 1: game at QB for the Seahawks was January first, twenty twelve,
- 20:00Speaker 1: rest in piece to VARs Jackson, who played that whole
- 20:02Speaker 1: season on a torn peck. Man So Gino man Gino
- 20:07Speaker 1: spent he hasn't He hasn't been a regular start in
- 20:09Speaker 1: the NFL since twenty four. Team spent four years with
- 20:12Speaker 1: the Jets, one year with the Giants, one year with
- 20:14Speaker 1: the Charges before joining the Seahawks in twenty twenty season.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Last Thursday, like I mentioned he threw his first start
- 20:20Speaker 1: sounds since Week twelve or twenty seventeen. His career stats
- 20:23Speaker 1: five hundred and thirty seven for nine hundred twenty eight
- 20:26Speaker 1: six thousand, three hundred forty six yards, thirty touchdowns, thirty
- 20:29Speaker 1: seven interceptions, one hundred and fifty two carries, six hundred
- 20:32Speaker 1: and eighty two yards and seven touchdowns. Now, I don't
- 20:36Speaker 1: need Gino to be perfect. I don't need him to
- 20:41Speaker 1: throw for three hundred and fifty yards and four touchdowns. No,
- 20:44Speaker 1: and you can't expect that from Geno. Gino's a pro.
- 20:46Speaker 1: He's been in this league, He's been in some battles.
- 20:48Speaker 1: He's gonna be okay. I was just talking to my
- 20:50Speaker 1: boys the other day. I go, man, what we need
- 20:52Speaker 1: from Gino? One hundred and fifty two hundred and one
- 20:55Speaker 1: or two touchdowns, nothing too crazy. Hopefully thirty two is healthy,
- 20:58Speaker 1: ready to go. You hand the full ball all off.
- 21:00Speaker 1: But if there's every time for a defense to help
- 21:02Speaker 1: this offense out, it has to be this week because
- 21:04Speaker 1: you have Geno coming in as a backup. Now, he's
- 21:07Speaker 1: a backup for a reason, but he's still a good backup.
- 21:10Speaker 1: We saw that last week. The guy knows the offense,
- 21:12Speaker 1: He's comfortable. He cain't shook out there, Oh, no question
- 21:15Speaker 1: about it. It was We talked about it on the
- 21:17Speaker 1: podcast after the game. It's unbelievable the resiliency showed and
- 21:21Speaker 1: just the poise to come into the game, backed up
- 21:23Speaker 1: on your two yard line with a game of time,
- 21:25Speaker 1: needing to drive the whole way to score touchdown, and
- 21:27Speaker 1: and he does it. He just looks smooth, calm, collected,
- 21:30Speaker 1: took what the defense gave him, stepped up in the pocket,
- 21:32Speaker 1: rolled out to his right. Was flawless, and he loved
- 21:34Speaker 1: what we saw there. And they're going against you know,
- 21:36Speaker 1: a Steelers defense, as we mentioned earlier's kind of middle
- 21:38Speaker 1: of the pack. They're sixteenth in total defense, nineteenth thinks
- 21:41Speaker 1: a pass nine thing gets a runs pretty good tenth
- 21:44Speaker 1: in points per game. But if they do have a
- 21:47Speaker 1: couple of big name guys bump and that is t J.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Watt and Minka Fitzpatrick. First of all, t J. Watt
- 21:52Speaker 1: has emerged as one of the best players in the
- 21:54Speaker 1: National Football League, doesn't matter offense, defense, pef scenes, whatever.
- 21:57Speaker 1: He's a three time Pro Bowl over the last three years,
- 22:00Speaker 1: two times first team All Pro in twenty nineteen and
- 22:02Speaker 1: twenty twenty. Had a career high in sacks in twenty
- 22:05Speaker 1: twenty with fifteen, and so far this year he picked
- 22:08Speaker 1: up right where he left off. Five sacks, fourteen tackles,
- 22:11Speaker 1: ten QB hits. You need to know where this man's
- 22:13Speaker 1: line up at all time because he will absolutely wreck
- 22:16Speaker 1: a game faster than anyone in this league. Yeah, that
- 22:19Speaker 1: last name means something, right, that last thing want me
- 22:23Speaker 1: and some now, Minca Fitzpatrick. Something about those dang Bama boys, man,
- 22:26Speaker 1: you line them up anywhere in this league, They're gonna
- 22:29Speaker 1: make plays. In four years, he has two hundred and
- 22:31Speaker 1: sixty six tackles. Talk about Menca Fitzpatrick. He has eleven interceptions,
- 22:35Speaker 1: four touchdowns, three force fumbles, three fumble recoveries, five tackles
- 22:39Speaker 1: for loss. Twenty twenty one. So far, he's leading the
- 22:41Speaker 1: team with thirty eight tackles and one tackle for loss.
- 22:44Speaker 1: You have to know where this man is. If you
- 22:46Speaker 1: check out my weekly film session, I broke down Minca
- 22:49Speaker 1: Fitzpatrick and it was a simple play, nast. He's in
- 22:52Speaker 1: a soft zone. He's lined up over the tight end
- 22:55Speaker 1: like most strong safeties do. The Titan just runs like
- 22:58Speaker 1: a sixty eight yard route and he just lies downhill
- 23:00Speaker 1: makes his tackle. Now, to most people, you're like, oh yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's supposed to do that downhill, make it a tackle.
- 23:04Speaker 1: It's open field, that Titan's bigger than him, and it
- 23:07Speaker 1: was just a play recognition, like he knows exactly what
- 23:10Speaker 1: he's looking at. He's a savvy football player, no question
- 23:12Speaker 1: about it. And he doesn't have any interceptions or any
- 23:14Speaker 1: takeaways so far this year, but over in four years
- 23:17Speaker 1: he's taking the football away. That's a lot of interceptions
- 23:19Speaker 1: for a strong safety type player. So he's another guy
- 23:22Speaker 1: that you know, kind of makes the secondary go. He's
- 23:24Speaker 1: a leader back there, and they're gonna Gino Smith's gonna
- 23:27Speaker 1: need to know where he is at all times. Those
- 23:29Speaker 1: two guys are the ones that you don't want to have.
- 23:31Speaker 1: If we're hearing their names all day long, it's gonna
- 23:33Speaker 1: be a rough day for Gino Smith in that offense.
- 23:35Speaker 1: As we mentioned, we need to get thirty two the ball.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Thirty two I'm assuming, you know, assuming he gets back
- 23:39Speaker 1: and is playing, you know, he needs probably get twenty carries.
- 23:42Speaker 1: You need Alex Collins to me and I change up
- 23:44Speaker 1: the running game without question. You know it's been talked
- 23:47Speaker 1: about all through this year, right, the Sehawks need to
- 23:49Speaker 1: be able to run the ball when they need to.
- 23:51Speaker 1: That's why you run the ball. So when you need
- 23:52Speaker 1: to win a game, you need to take some time
- 23:54Speaker 1: off the clock. You need to give your defense rest.
- 23:55Speaker 1: You need to be able to run the damn ball. Right, Yep.
- 23:57Speaker 1: If there's any a week, if there's ever been a
- 23:59Speaker 1: week ever, yeah, it's this week right now. I would
- 24:02Speaker 1: love to see Chris Carson im twenty carries over one
- 24:04Speaker 1: hundred yards. It's so unbelievable me that he has not
- 24:08Speaker 1: gone over ae hundred yards in twenty nineteen. Yeah, that's insane.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I mean, we know he was injured for most of
- 24:13Speaker 1: year last year and we were throwing the ball a
- 24:15Speaker 1: lot more as an offense. But Chris Carson is so talented.
- 24:18Speaker 1: He's in such good shape. I'm hoping that neck is
- 24:20Speaker 1: all right. I'm hoping he can show some of that burst.
- 24:22Speaker 1: We've seen it. We saw it in half in against
- 24:24Speaker 1: the Colts, we saw it for a half against the Vikings,
- 24:27Speaker 1: so it's there. So hopefully the boys can help out
- 24:30Speaker 1: running the football. Now. Talk about another running back bump,
- 24:33Speaker 1: Naji Harris man against I wrote down, I wrote, Naji
- 24:37Speaker 1: Harris versus Steels Fronds seven. I think i'man to say
- 24:39Speaker 1: Nagy Harris versus the Seahawks front seven. This rookie man
- 24:43Speaker 1: he got seventy eight carries three hundred and seven yards,
- 24:45Speaker 1: two touchdowns, twenty eight receptions one hundred ninety eight yards
- 24:48Speaker 1: and one touchdown, come off his best game as a
- 24:51Speaker 1: pro against Broncos. Like I mentioned, twenty two carries one
- 24:54Speaker 1: hundred and twenty two yards. And right now, they're not
- 24:56Speaker 1: good at running to football, so last week was the
- 24:58Speaker 1: first time they'd really show them they can actually do that.
- 25:00Speaker 1: They're only averaging seventy three yards per game, which is
- 25:03Speaker 1: pretty low ranking in the NFL. That's actually thirty first.
- 25:06Speaker 1: So that being said, though, they kind of got into
- 25:09Speaker 1: a groove and he kind of was just sparked to
- 25:10Speaker 1: this offense last week. Bum yeah, Naji man again, another
- 25:14Speaker 1: Bama boy doing it, Sam, And you see the potential
- 25:17Speaker 1: in Naji hairs like you see it, you know it
- 25:19Speaker 1: just sometimes it takes a few weeks to get guys going,
- 25:22Speaker 1: and I think that's what we're seeing so far so
- 25:24Speaker 1: this year through five games that like you mentioned, they
- 25:27Speaker 1: just aren't getting it done. Um, I think how they're
- 25:30Speaker 1: gonna use Naji or how I would do it at
- 25:32Speaker 1: our of them one, you gotta do what we want
- 25:35Speaker 1: the Hawks do was give him the ball early, early, early, early,
- 25:38Speaker 1: get downhill and really tested to see all defensive line.
- 25:41Speaker 1: I really expect him to do that, especially with an
- 25:43Speaker 1: aging quarterback and Ben Roethlisberger, and then that should open
- 25:46Speaker 1: things up. I'm giving you guys still just scouting report.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I don't do that. You guys just turn the ball
- 25:51Speaker 1: over and don't get Nagi going make us look good.
- 25:56Speaker 1: But yeah, that's that's what you do. Now. Naji Haris,
- 25:58Speaker 1: like I said, come off his best game to see
- 25:59Speaker 1: if he can back it up. All right? Another matchup
- 26:01Speaker 1: Chase Claypool and Deontay Johnson verse Sidney Jones in d
- 26:04Speaker 1: J Reid. Chase Claypool man honestly one of my favorite
- 26:08Speaker 1: personalities in the NFL. Too man. He's all over TikTok
- 26:11Speaker 1: and Instagram, making funny memes and all that stuff. This
- 26:14Speaker 1: guy's twenty receptions during the forty one yards one touchdown. Now.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Claypool was the Steeler's second leading receiver in twenty twenty
- 26:21Speaker 1: with sixty two receptions, eight hundred and seventy three yards
- 26:24Speaker 1: and nine touchdowns. Deontay Johnson in twenty twenty one twenty
- 26:28Speaker 1: five receptions, three hundred and five yards, three touchdowns. Johnson
- 26:31Speaker 1: left the Steelers in receiving in twenty twenty with eighty
- 26:34Speaker 1: eight receptions nine hundred twenty three yards with seven touchdowns. Now,
- 26:39Speaker 1: typically they have a three headed monster with this receiving corps,
- 26:41Speaker 1: but like we mentioned, Juju spend Shooter will not play,
- 26:44Speaker 1: most likely out for the whole season with a dis
- 26:46Speaker 1: okay to shoulder. They needed some surgery. Now, Juju had
- 26:51Speaker 1: excuse me with his whole career so far had three
- 26:53Speaker 1: hundred twenty three yards receptions, three eight hundred and fifty
- 26:57Speaker 1: five yards and twenty six touchdowns in sixty three games played.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Were five years and it was huge on third down.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Never wish a man to be hurt. But because Juju
- 27:06Speaker 1: was hurt like takes some pressure off of his defense
- 27:08Speaker 1: and takes away a big third down threat for Ben Roethlisberger,
- 27:12Speaker 1: No question about it. Man. I mean listening to Mike
- 27:14Speaker 1: tom Head coach Mcammon for the Steelers talk about missing
- 27:17Speaker 1: Smith Schuster and then he said, of course there's nothing
- 27:19Speaker 1: you can replace a guy like that, a talent like
- 27:21Speaker 1: that that really helped his ball club over the last
- 27:24Speaker 1: five years become a fan favorite down there. But he
- 27:26Speaker 1: said it's going to give an opportunity for other guys
- 27:28Speaker 1: to show up. He mentioned Claypool, he mentioned Johnson. There's
- 27:31Speaker 1: other guys that are gonna step up, and they have playmakers,
- 27:33Speaker 1: so there's without question they're gonna be there now as
- 27:37Speaker 1: a secondary, the Seahawks were still gonna have their handsful
- 27:39Speaker 1: of those guys that just mentioned. And I'm still waiting
- 27:42Speaker 1: for DJ Reid or Sidney Jones get the first takeaway
- 27:44Speaker 1: of the season right. I went in bold hot take
- 27:47Speaker 1: whatever day it was last time on the preview podcast
- 27:49Speaker 1: saying I really thought that they were going to get one.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I was wrong, but I still have that faith. I
- 27:55Speaker 1: feel like it's coming right. DJ Reid has done that
- 27:58Speaker 1: in twenty twenty, showed he can take the ball right.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Sidney Jones, when healthy, he has been a good football
- 28:03Speaker 1: player in this league. You dub standout shout you dub
- 28:06Speaker 1: would have been a first round pick of Edian Bloud
- 28:08Speaker 1: his achilles. So they have playmaking ability and Sidney Jones
- 28:11Speaker 1: has been in an adjustment process. I guess right, because
- 28:15Speaker 1: he wasn't here to start, He wasn't through camp, he
- 28:17Speaker 1: didn't do all the mini camp stuff. He hasn't been
- 28:18Speaker 1: in this system forever. And the crazy thing bump, listen
- 28:21Speaker 1: to this man starting camp this year, the Seahawks had
- 28:25Speaker 1: ten cornerbacks. Now they only have three remaining on the
- 28:29Speaker 1: roster here in Week six, DJ Reid, Gavin Heslop and
- 28:34Speaker 1: the Trey Brown, who the Seahawks drafted as a rookie. Now,
- 28:37Speaker 1: with that being said, that means that we are bidding
- 28:40Speaker 1: farewell the Trey Flowers. I know we've got a lot
- 28:42Speaker 1: of heat out here, but Trey Flowers is an absolute
- 28:45Speaker 1: stand up dude, one of the best players and people
- 28:48Speaker 1: you will ever work with. And I've had the pleasure
- 28:51Speaker 1: of talking to Trey and he's helped us out with
- 28:54Speaker 1: tons of interviews over the years since he's been here.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Has been nothing but class, always done what he was
- 28:58Speaker 1: asked to do, played some really good football at times
- 29:00Speaker 1: for the Seahawks. So a lot of love for Trey Flowers.
- 29:04Speaker 1: He was event meant a lot to this organization. So
- 29:06Speaker 1: good luck to wherever he ends up. Tough, tough deal, there.
- 29:10Speaker 1: But with that being said, so you know, I brought
- 29:12Speaker 1: that up because I'm kind of transition back into the
- 29:14Speaker 1: adjustment period, right, So I think Sidney Jones is fine
- 29:17Speaker 1: taking that step. And we have guys in there, bless
- 29:19Speaker 1: Austin who we acquire John Reeds. Some of those guys
- 29:21Speaker 1: are gonna push, try to get in the game. But
- 29:23Speaker 1: it's time bump for this back seven. And that's everybody,
- 29:27Speaker 1: not just the corners, not to save these the linebackers.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Everybody to figure out a way to take away the
- 29:31Speaker 1: middle of the field, right, take away some of this
- 29:34Speaker 1: underneath stuff. Keep destroying the deeps and I gosh, I
- 29:38Speaker 1: know it's there, and they've got to put the puzzle
- 29:40Speaker 1: pieces there. It's a second quarter of the season. I
- 29:42Speaker 1: really want to see this back seven come together and
- 29:47Speaker 1: just make some place. Quandrie Diggs are taking them ball away,
- 29:49Speaker 1: have that spread out to the rest of the team.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Jamal Adams, get some sacks that you're handing the ball,
- 29:53Speaker 1: just lodge a football force fumble because you can live
- 29:56Speaker 1: with some of the stuff you're giving up over the
- 29:57Speaker 1: middle if you're taking them ball away, if you're making
- 29:59Speaker 1: big plays. So one or the other has to happen.
- 30:02Speaker 1: They need to figure out how to eliminate the middle
- 30:04Speaker 1: of the field, which is kind of been hurting the team,
- 30:05Speaker 1: or figure out a way to take the ball away.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And once they do one of those things, I'm telling you, man,
- 30:10Speaker 1: things are gonna take off for this defense. They're gonna
- 30:13Speaker 1: take off, take the ball away, takeaways. Good things happen
- 30:16Speaker 1: when you do that. Now, let's figure out how they're
- 30:19Speaker 1: gonna do that and talk about the path to victory.
- 30:24Speaker 1: At the forty five waits for the staff, Michael Vickson
- 30:28Speaker 1: puts it down. That kick is away, and that kick
- 30:30Speaker 1: is good. It's good. It's a path to victory. On
- 30:36Speaker 1: Hawk Talk, we've been talking about it, man, just where
- 30:39Speaker 1: we're just saying starts on defense. Man, the Seahawks can't
- 30:42Speaker 1: give up these huge numbers we've seen so far this season.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Every player on defense need to step up. Do their
- 30:47Speaker 1: job on each is given play, get lined up, execute
- 30:50Speaker 1: your assignment, get to the football. This defensive unit and
- 30:53Speaker 1: is so talented. There's way too many impressive players, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 1: all pro type, Pro Bowl talent on this fans with
- 31:01Speaker 1: our coaching staff is unbelievably talented as well. They have
- 31:05Speaker 1: the personnel and the people that do it. It's just
- 31:07Speaker 1: a matter of executing that on Sunday. They gotta get
- 31:10Speaker 1: after Big Bim Man. We know he is not a
- 31:12Speaker 1: mobile quarterback. Gotta get after him, man. And I feel
- 31:15Speaker 1: bad talking about Big Ben like that because I like
- 31:17Speaker 1: to do. But ma'am, get him on his butt, sit
- 31:19Speaker 1: him down. He will sack thirteen times all of last year.
- 31:23Speaker 1: He's been sacked eleven times this year. That means that
- 31:25Speaker 1: something's not right in the past. Protection. Make that guy
- 31:30Speaker 1: have to move, make him after step up Darryl Taylor
- 31:33Speaker 1: and he like one or two out of you this week. Baby,
- 31:35Speaker 1: let's go absolutely. I would love to see Darrell Taylor
- 31:37Speaker 1: the first time he mentioned him. He's got four sacks
- 31:39Speaker 1: in the year. He's about middle of the pack. I
- 31:41Speaker 1: think the leader in the NFL has seven sweets right there.
- 31:43Speaker 1: It's a consistent pass rush. Would love to see him
- 31:45Speaker 1: getting after him. Man. Gino Smith Man making his first
- 31:48Speaker 1: starts in twenty seventeen. This game can't turn into a shootout.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And I'm not saying I don't think Gino smith can
- 31:54Speaker 1: put up big numbers, because I know he's capable of
- 31:56Speaker 1: that without question, especially with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Chris Carson,
- 31:59Speaker 1: Gerald Everts coming back. We know he can do those things,
- 32:02Speaker 1: but that's not the recipe for the Seahawks to win.
- 32:05Speaker 1: You know, he's he's there's faith in Geno Smith. He's
- 32:08Speaker 1: been in Chane Waldron system since day once, since he's
- 32:10Speaker 1: been here. But this needs to be a game where
- 32:14Speaker 1: the Seahawks sustained drives. This needs to be game where
- 32:16Speaker 1: you play field position when you need to. This needs
- 32:18Speaker 1: to be a game where you don't turn the ball over.
- 32:20Speaker 1: This needs to be a game where you when you
- 32:22Speaker 1: get in the third quarter, you don't go punt punt punt.
- 32:24Speaker 1: You possess the football. You go on long drives. And
- 32:26Speaker 1: that'll help with Chris Carson running the football. But this
- 32:30Speaker 1: can't be a shooted. I think if I think, if
- 32:31Speaker 1: the Seahawks keep the Steelers under under twenty five points,
- 32:36Speaker 1: they're absolutely gonna win this football game. I'm wiching, I'm wiching. Also,
- 32:39Speaker 1: how do you help Gino not get into a shoot
- 32:41Speaker 1: all you kind of mentioned it. Man, run the football,
- 32:44Speaker 1: give it to Ris Carson, give him twenty yards, then
- 32:46Speaker 1: give him some Alice Collins, I mean Alice Salins did
- 32:48Speaker 1: a good job last week. But I think we see
- 32:51Speaker 1: that he's best with Chris Carson right because they're running
- 32:55Speaker 1: styles are so different. Chris Carson's downhill, Alice Collins is
- 32:58Speaker 1: gonna make you miss and to be better on third downs.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Can't have zero points in the third quarter, which has
- 33:03Speaker 1: happened in every game except versus San Francisco. Get back
- 33:08Speaker 1: to three and three, all right, These guys have an
- 33:10Speaker 1: opportunity here heading into the bye week. You get a win,
- 33:13Speaker 1: you get guys healthy. You got two weeks to prepare
- 33:17Speaker 1: for the next opponent. Thinks that simple man. Let's get
- 33:20Speaker 1: it done. We told you how we're gonna get it done.
- 33:22Speaker 1: How the Seahawks that, for that matter, are gonna get
- 33:24Speaker 1: it done. Get back to three and three this week. Reminder,
- 33:26Speaker 1: you can hear us everywhere Seahawks dot Com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify,
