- 0:12- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 0:16- Here is today's prayer.
- 0:24- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:27- Rocha.
- 0:29- Today, we're gonna be talking about finding rest
- 0:32- in God. Scripture text comes from Matthew eleven
- 0:34- twenty eight and says, come to me all
- 0:36- you who are weary and burdened, and I
- 0:39- will give you rest.
- 0:41- Well, this week, we
- 0:43- talk about hurt,
- 0:46- the past,
- 0:47- regret,
- 0:49- disappointment,
- 0:52- unforgiveness,
- 0:54- and worry.
- 0:56- Now different burdens,
- 0:59- but they all have something in common.
- 1:04- They're exhausting when we carry them alone.
- 1:09- And sometimes we've been carrying something for so
- 1:12- long,
- 1:13- it has become to feel like part of
- 1:15- who we are.
- 1:18- But your burden is not your identity.
- 1:24- And putting something down can feel vulnerable. Remember
- 1:28- we talked about it's often easier to hold
- 1:31- onto things
- 1:32- because it's familiar to us.
- 1:36- So we wonder
- 1:39- what happens if I surrender this and nothing
- 1:41- changes.
- 1:43- What happens if the memory returns?
- 1:47- What happens if I start worrying again tomorrow?
- 1:52- Or not even tomorrow, in the next ten
- 1:54- minutes, if truth be told.
- 1:57- Letting go doesn't mean you'll never think about
- 1:59- it again.
- 2:01- It means you know where to take it
- 2:03- when it returns,
- 2:06- and that's the power
- 2:08- of prayer.
- 2:11- Jesus, the great intercessor, reminds us,
- 2:14- come to me.
- 2:16- Give it to me.
- 2:18- That's the invitation.
- 2:20- Not fix it yourself first because if you
- 2:22- could have fixed it, it would have been
- 2:24- fixed already.
- 2:26- Not get over it first because
- 2:28- that's not realistic
- 2:30- and not figure everything out first because we
- 2:33- often don't know where to start sometimes. We
- 2:36- just want the pain to stop.
- 2:39- It's an invitation
- 2:41- to come,
- 2:42- to bring the hurt,
- 2:44- to bring the questions,
- 2:48- the worry,
- 2:50- and the things you're still learning how to
- 2:52- release.
- 2:54- And when you find yourself carrying them again,
- 2:59- return them and lay them on the throne
- 3:01- again.
- 3:04- That being said,
- 3:05- let's take all of these burdens
- 3:08- to the Lord in prayer.
- 3:11- Heavenly Father,
- 3:14- some of us may be at an emotional
- 3:17- and spiritual point of
- 3:19- absolute
- 3:20- exhaustion.
- 3:22- So much so where we're tired of hearing
- 3:25- what has made us feel
- 3:27- so heavenly in our heart.
- 3:30- So father, today we bring you
- 3:33- our hurt,
- 3:34- regret,
- 3:35- disappointment,
- 3:36- worry, and everything else that we've been struggling
- 3:39- to release.
- 3:41- And we ask that you help us trust
- 3:42- you enough to put it down and leave
- 3:45- room for your space and not pick it
- 3:47- back up.
- 3:49- And in turn, we choose to receive the
- 3:52- rest you offer us,
- 3:54- and we will give you the honor, the
- 3:56- glory, and the praise. In Jesus' name, amen.
- 4:00- Well,
- 4:02- as this
- 4:05- series of prayers ends this week,
- 4:09- we don't wanna just stop there. We wanna
- 4:12- continue the conversation by asking what do we
- 4:15- need to do
- 4:17- or what do we need to let go
- 4:18- of?
- 4:20- What could God do in us if we
- 4:22- finally made room?
- 4:27- Remember, it's always about
- 4:29- the conversation.
- 4:31- And if these prayers are helping you,
- 4:35- share the divine five one five podcast with
- 4:38- someone who's carrying something heavy today or who
- 4:41- might just need some encouragement.
- 4:45- Your share may be their invitation
- 4:48- to begin releasing whatever it is they're struggling
- 4:51- with.
- 4:52- And if you want to continue growing in
- 4:54- a Christ centered community where prayer, scripture, encouragement,
- 4:58- and connection are part of the journey,
- 5:00- we invite you inside the inner chamber.
- 5:05- It's as easy as visiting us at divine515.com
- 5:10- forward /free,
- 5:11- and it's free to join.
- 5:14- This we don't measure progress by whether you
- 5:16- never feel the weight again.
- 5:18- Measure it by whether you've learned
- 5:21- where to take it.
- 5:23- Remember, put it in God's hands, and when
- 5:26- you're tempted to pick it back up, return
- 5:28- it to him and give it to him
- 5:30- again.
