Transcript
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Reclaiming Consciousness.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I'm Elise Bassine, trauma and breathwork expert, and creator of the Metamorphosis Method, the only methodology bridging the gap between spiritual healing and clinical trauma work.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: For many years, our consciousness has been hijacked by societal and cultural programming, religion, the media, and familial and ancestral trauma.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: In this podcast, you'll discover my unique perspective on trauma healing and how it is the gateway to fully reclaiming your consciousness.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: You'll hear stories and teachings that expand your mind as you discover how every relationship challenge, business block, or limiting pattern is an invitation to reclaim the parts of your consciousness you unknowingly gave away.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Get ready to go deep.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Now let's dive in.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Hi everyone.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the show.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: So I am so excited for this week's episode.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And I actually recorded this probably about two months ago at this point, but obviously needed to wait to publish it until the Bewitch series was over.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: This is a conversation I had with longtime client Dr.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Leah Taylor, who I love so much.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And she was just coming off finishing a year in the mothership.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And we talked about everything that happened for her over that year in her business and her life.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I just love the conversation and what Leah shares about, you know, just everything that unfolded for her over this time period.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And, you know, what I really love about the work in the mothership is that you're committing to this work over time.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I always say to people that in order to get the most permanent results and the most transformation, it's really important to not only commit to this work over time, but really make it part of your life.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And that doesn't mean that you need to always be doing really deep trauma work.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: That's not what I mean.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: But what it does mean is that you're looking at your life through this lens, meaning that whenever a challenge surfaces, whenever a problem surfaces, you're looking at it as an opportunity for healing.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: You're looking at it as, okay, what is my inner child trying to tell me right now?
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: What am I being invited to look at and heal and reconcile more deeply through this current situation?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: And that's what this work is really about.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: And when you commit to it for a year, you really start to embody that because you have a year of practice and support in implementing this work into your life, integrating it into a practice into your life so that you just begin to look at your life this way, and you no longer will come up against these blocks or these challenges or repeating the same patterns over and over again because you know how to navigate things as they come up.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And that is what is so profound and powerful about this work.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: So you're gonna hear Leah share just about some changes she made in her business, how her relationships transformed, how she became more deeply embodied in her work and all of the miracles that unfolded throughout the year.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And she does a great job of sharing how she utilized the inner child healing process to create a much different relationship with her inner child and create deep levels of healing so that things really started to open up for her.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: And you'll hear her share about some of the synchronicities, some of the opportunities, and some of the miracles that unfolded as she did the deeper work to heal her inner child.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Please check out Leah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: If you don't follow her, go follow her on Instagram.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: She has created her own healing modality that utilizes movement called Embodied Groove.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: And she's just an incredible healer, incredible teacher, and just incredible woman in general.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So you definitely want to follow her.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And we'll put all of her links below.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I'm really excited for you to hear this episode.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: And just a couple things.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So, in honor of this episode coming out, I am running a flash sale on joining the mothership for this week only.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: So from Thursday today until next Thursday, you will have the opportunity to join the mothership with your first month being only$111.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: So that's$444 off your first payment if you join in the next week.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm offering that just because, you know, we talk about the mothership in this episode, and I've been really sharing about the importance of the long-term commitment.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So the mothership is my 12-month membership mastermind where you have access to all of the programs I've ever created, minus the certification.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And you will be getting my support through moving through the tools in all of the programs, specifically the Metamorphosis.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: You get a group call with me every month where you can ask me anything.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: You also get a group Telegram chat, you guys, that you can reach out to me Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and get my support.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: And for the price, that is an insane thing.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: That alone is worth the value just to be able to get support in navigating things in real time in your life, to be able to ask me, how is this situation reflecting my inner child?
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: How can I navigate this situation that's coming up in my life?
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: How can I move through this block or shift this pattern?
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: Like you literally can come in and ask me every day.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: That's like one of the best things about the mothership.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: And the community is just incredible.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I love the women in that space.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm always offering special things for them, like mini masterminds and just things that I only offer to them inside the space.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: It's a ton of support.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: And then also, along with the monthly group call, you also get a monthly group breath work session that's either taught by me or one of my metamorphosis method certified breathwork practitioners.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: So it's just such a special space.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm gonna put the link below so you can see everything that's included.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: But if you are ready to commit to this work for a year because you know that that's how you get the permanent results and you're willing to commit to creating that permanent transformation in your life, then this is for you.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: And you know, if you already signed up for the metamorphosis for this round, you can apply what you paid to joining the mothership.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And then also just value-wise, if you know you want to do the metamorphosis, this makes more sense value-wise, because you get more for your money if you look at it over time.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, so that's happening from now until next Thursday.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Just reach out to me if you're interested, and I will give you the code to get the first payment at 111.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And then also the mini morphosis, which I know a lot of you have purchased.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I am hosting a live QA for everyone who's purchased the mini morphosis this year in 2025, and anyone who will purchase it in the next couple of weeks.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So the mini morphosis is my digital program where I teach you my inner child healing process to pinpoint and dissolve your core wound so that you can create permanent transformation across all areas of your life.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and the whole premise that you guys have heard me talk about is you think that your problems with money or career or relationships are different things, but it's actually only one thing.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And when you address this one thing, all areas of your life change.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And in the mini morphosis, I show you how to pinpoint what that one thing is, which is your core wound, and go through my simple five-step inner child healing process to dissolve it permanently and go from being triggered or stuck to accessing your power within minutes.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So that's what you learn in the mini morphosis.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: When you purchase it, and you can purchase it right now for$33 using the code HEAL at checkout, H-E-A-L.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And now you're going to get a live QA with me.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So you can come on this call and ask me anything about how to apply the tools, the inner child healing process to your specific situation.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: I will help you pinpoint your core wound if you're not sure about that, and help you navigate this process in a very powerful, targeted way.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: That is completely yours when you purchase the mini morphosis.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: And I will be announcing the date of that call.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: It's going to be around the end of this month or early June.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: If you've purchased the mini morphosis at any point this year, you will be getting information about that.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And then also, if you do purchase it between now and uh the end of the month, you will also be included in that call.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: So you definitely don't want to miss it.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: It's only$33, you guys.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: It's a no-brainer, and you will be set on a completely different path after this call.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: So you will be looking at your life completely differently and you will understand how to navigate things when they come up much differently.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: That is that.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna leave it there.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Please enjoy the episode with Leah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Reach out to me if you have questions about the mothership or the mini morphosis.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Also, don't forget to sign up for and download my private podcast series, The Core Wound Solution.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: We'll link that below.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: I'm sending you all so much love and I will talk to you soon.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Enjoy the episode.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to the show, everyone.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: I am so excited to have today's guest back on the show with us today.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: We have Dr.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Leah Taylor with us.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: So welcome to the show, Leah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to be back.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: So we were just talking about what we want to start with and realize that it would be great to just pick up where we left off in our last episode.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: The last time you were on the show, you had just finished a six-month private container with me.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: And then we were talking about that.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: And then after that, you came into the mothership for a year, which we're just finishing.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: And I just would love to talk about just everything that has unfolded for you since we last saw you because it's been a lot.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And I was so grateful for you sharing in the chat the other day.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: You kind of like outlined everything that happened in such a beautiful way.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: I was like, wow, this is incredible.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: So let's just start there.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: So last time we heard from you, you had left your job and then I think gotten something else that came in, and then you were moving forward with your business.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: You started making some real money.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: And then I think that's where we left off, right?
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: And my job left me, really.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: It ended abruptly, as happens very often when we need a little kick from the universe to switch things up.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I very quickly was brought into another position.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: And it made me question like, is this just the easy way or is this what's right?
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: In that time, I feel like the lessons were me really honoring my worth.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: That is my core wound, is that I'm not worthy of the attention, the love, the things to come to me.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: And so I went through the process of I took that job, but they weren't paying me what I wanted to be paid, which I was making$50 an hour at my old job.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: I can't do the percentage in my head right now.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna use numbers.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: And they were gonna give me$5, which that sounds great, right?
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: I'm getting a raise.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: I was happy about that.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: I had not gotten a raise from my last job the six years I was there.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: That felt good, but there were still some things that like I wasn't getting paid for all my hours because I was seeing clients.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: So it was like just for the clients.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: I went back to them.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: I asked for more money.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: I think I asked for$90 an hour.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And they said that they were not able, or maybe I asked for a hundred and they gave, they offered 90.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: And while that still sounds great, there was something inside me that was like, nope.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: So I said no and I walked away.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: And at that time, I was like, I'm gonna focus on getting private clients for coaching.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: I did focus on that and I brought in two amazing clients pretty much right away, which also made me realize that where your attention goes, energy will flow before it was like, I wanted to do this, but literally my attention was not directly focused on it.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: And once I did directly focus my attention on that and started in all of the things, creating the container that I was gonna put them in, talking about it to my list, talking about it to people that I know.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: And actually, the two women who came in at that time were people that I knew.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: And they were perfect.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: They were amazing, and I so enjoyed working with them.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: And so that happened.
- 13:41SPEAKER_01: And then about three months later, the medical director at the clinic that the second one that I had landed in got back in touch with me and he said, The patients miss you.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: I know the caliber of work you do.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: I really want to bring you back.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: Will you consider$100 an hour and we will pay you for all of your time?
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 14:06SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: And even at that point, though, I was like, is this a test?
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Is this a test from the universe?
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: Because it's like I had stepped away, I had put my focus on bringing in private clients.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: And then there's this, the thing that I had asked for initially comes back to me.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: And so I had to sit with that.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, like the clients that I was bringing in were not consistent enough.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: And I had, I think this was like six months out from having a consistent paycheck, which was putting some strain on us financially.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And I remember I got back from traveling for the summer and I was talking to my husband, and he was upset about things financially.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: In my mind, I was like, you know what, this is a smart thing to do for our family.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I need some consistent income.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: It's where I said that I wanted to be.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: And so I said yes to coming back to this clinic.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: And the amazing thing about this clinic compared to the other one is that I can take on as many clients as I want.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Before I was hired to work four days a week, nine to five when I was working in person.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: But this one, it's like I could take on five clients, I could take on 25 clients, I could take on whatever I want.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: So I have that more flexibility.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: It's all online.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: And the caliber of clients, actually, what I recognize right now, I have about 20 in my caseload.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: And it's 1111 on my clock right now.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: So the work that I'm doing with them is so fulfilling because it is everything that I want to be doing with anybody that I'm working with, which is really working with that mind-body-spirit integration.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: And I like working in healthcare.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: I like also bringing in like my way of working in healthcare, which is empowering the clients with the fact that they actually have everything that they need inside of them, and that through learning how to understand their body in a very easy way, that they can learn how to take care of themselves with ease so that everything can flow smoothly.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: So the clients are able to heal their anxiety, they're able to heal their depression, they're able to start to heal their pain in a way that is what I love to have everybody experience, knowing that they can do this themselves.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: So, and I get to do it by guiding them through different meditations where they might like use shields for themselves.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Like that's coming to my mind of something that I did with a client just last week, where I knew that she needed to deflect energy coming in from other people.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: And as I was talking to her about what I was being guided that we do, I just saw this shield and I mentioned it to her as one of the options.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: And she was like, oh my God, that's perfect.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: So I get to use my intuition as well as all of the tools that I know can be so powerful because they activate that mind-body connection and they get to that deeper level and layer to help with that healing that that needs to happen.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: And I think that so many clients that I've had that are coming from the therapy world or therapists or clinicians in some way or mental health professionals, that's one of the things that they don't like about it, is they feel like they can't do certain things, right?
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And that's one of the reasons why they want to do their own thing.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: So to me, that's a huge piece.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: But like the other thing I just wanted to bring forward is I'd love to talk about your perspective and just the greater question around when you have your own business or you want to have your own business also having a job.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: And I feel like there's so much like black and white thinking around that, or that's not the goal, or or it has to look a certain way.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: And I really don't think it does.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: I think that number one, first and foremost, you have to feel supported and not stressed out financially.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: And to me, that's the most important thing because I don't know how you like build and grow a business when you're like completely stressed out financially.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And then also, especially for someone like you who's you're also getting to do the work that you want to do.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: It's not like you're doing something that you hate, which would be a much different thing.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: So it doesn't feel drainy for you.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: So even though I think this was something that maybe you didn't necessarily think was exactly what you wanted, it's like because of all of the work that you've done, it's like turned out to be exactly the perfect thing right now.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: And for me, it was just about shifting my perspective on it.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: That was a huge thing because before I felt like I had this job that I didn't want.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: And I had given myself a five-year plan for the original clinic that I was at, which, like I said, I got kicked out like right before six years, actually.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: Instead of feeling like, oh, I have this job and I want to be working by my for myself instead.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: The way that I look at it now is I'm getting referrals from physicians.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And it's like, yeah, I have a W-2 because that's just the way that I had to be structured because I was still an associate at the time.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: But I want to continue with that.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: One of my outreaches for clients are to hit up integrative clinics in the area because when I can speak to other clinicians, they understand what I do.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: It's easy, you know, and I can be like, these are my credentials, this is what I've been doing.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: I can help your clients.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: And they're like, oh, amazing.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: I have somebody qualified that I can refer to that can hold my clients in a way that I can't hold them.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: So that's how I see it now.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: It's like, I'm just getting referrals from people that know the caliber of my work and know that I can help support their clients in a way that they can't.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: So that was one thing is like that shift of perspective.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: And then also, this is gonna come back to kind of something that you mentioned in the beginning, which is to see this as a way to support Embodied Groove, which is really my work that I am bringing into the world, like my legacy that I am gonna be leaving.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: And for so long, I felt I need to do this coaching thing because I can make some good money doing that.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: And it will support me being able to continue to develop Embodied Groove, which at that time wasn't really at a place where, like I was still building it to have people understand the value of it because it is something that's very different.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: And once I got, it's like, whatever, as long as I'm doing the work that I love and I'm not compromising myself in that, which if people have to do that, then okay, let's do it.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: Let's have the money coming in, like you said, so that we're not in survival mode and we can continue to show up as creative in our own work, but I'm able to do the work that I love, receiving money in that way.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: And I have the time and the availability to be able to devote to continuing to develop and cultivate embodied groove.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: And I think in a second, I want you to explain what embodied groove is.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: I know you did on the last episode, but just so people know.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: But I think that was one of the biggest like aha's, probably of the whole year working together was like, wait a second, why are we trying to like make this harder than it is?
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Because like embodied groove is your thing.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: So let's just focus on that.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: And it's not even to say like you shouldn't be doing other things like the private coaching or whatever it is, but it was just like putting Embodied groove like over to the side.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: I can focus on this when I do this other thing.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: But why are we doing that?
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: Because this is really what you're meant to be doing.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: And I think once you, and we'll talk about this a lot more, but it was just so cool to watch.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Like once you really allowed yourself to say, this is the most important thing to me, like the things that started happening were like insane.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: And that's like just so important, I think, for people to understand.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: So maybe we can just start also by you explaining what is embodied groove for people who don't know what it is.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: So I mentioned my core topic of being mind, body, spirit integration.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: And because just in my own life, I had the first experience that really blew me open and allowed me to understand what that meant in an embodied way.
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: And that was on the dance floor at a concert, which happened to be Rusted Root at the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach in like 1999.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: And that experience, because prior to that, I had felt such a disconnect between my mind and my body.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: And I was aware of that disconnect.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: I'm grateful for my intuition of allowing me to be conscious of these things and know where I need to go, but I don't always know how I'm gonna get there.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: That show just the percussive beats and bringing me into my body, I was able to not have any thoughts in my mind, which was at that time like never ever happened.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: I am a very heady person and I tend towards anxiety if left to my own devices and not knowing how to how to heal that in myself.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: Plus, it was my first spiritual experience too.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: So it was like all of them came together and I was just like, oh my God, what was that?
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I have to experience that again.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: I need to figure out what is going on here.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: And so that led me to my master's degree in somatic psychology and then my mind-body medicine PhD.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: And in my PhD as a clinician, it's like, okay, I've always been focused on healing and wholeness, whereas like medical focuses on disease and what is wrong, whether that's psychology or modern medicine, it's all based on what is wrong.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, no, let's look at what is going well, what is right.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: So for me, me feeling like my highest self connected to my most authentic self and feeling the most aligned, mind, body, spirit, happened at shows.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: So I was like, okay, there has to be something going on here.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: I am not the only person who is experiencing this, right?
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: There's thousands and millions of people who go to concerts over and over and over again for a reason.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: It makes us feel a certain way, right?
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: So there's so much going on in that experience.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: We do have the ability to lose our mind.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Like we're not thinking about our stress.
- 25:07SPEAKER_01: Maybe it might pop up, but then like it goes away because we're focused on what's happening.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: We're experiencing these elevated emotions, which are so important for our health and well-being.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: We're feeling connected to the people around us in a way that is like even unconscious because we don't know what they do, but yet we still feel connected to them because we're sharing this highly emotional experience, which puts us in connection even more.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: It also helps to increase our empathy towards people, our compassion towards people, which is so important.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, there's this thing that's happening that's happened since the beginning of time, right?
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: We've all been gathering together to sing together, to dance together, to make music together, to heal together, to elevate together.
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: And let's look at this for what we're experiencing.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: So I say all of this for embodied groove because I really looked at all of that to say, okay, how can I develop this modality that is bringing it in in a conscious way?
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: So with embodied groove, it does include music, it does include movement, it also includes intention because what I have learned, and I just heard this the other day, I was listening about sound healing.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: And it's like the most important part of sound healing is the intention that you're putting into it.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: So it's very important to me to have us realize that we have the ability to get intentional and then also allow people to have the experience in their body of feeling safe in their body, of feeling ease in their body, of feeling grounded while they are experiencing these elevated emotions, because that's something that doesn't actually happen for a lot of people.
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: We get to those elevated emotions and we go up and out.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: We don't feel safe enough in our body to be able to hold them.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: And then also doing it with other people, we have that connection piece.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: And because of my experience in mind-body medicine, I love to bring in like affirmations or ways to involve the mind.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: How do we visualize what we want to experience while we're feeling that emotion in our body, while we're moving it through our body, while we're locking that experience in?
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Because if we want to shift our state of being, we cannot just think about it, right?
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: We can't just wish it to be different or hope it will be different or write every day, I am happy, I am happy, I am happy.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: No, we actually have to freaking experience the fact that we're happy.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: And as we do that in a way that our body feels safe to be able to receive it, then that will eventually become our way of being.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: So that's how we shift our emotional baseline.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: That's how we utilize the process of neuroplasticity in our brains to create new ways of thinking.
- 27:58SPEAKER_01: And I always love to say when you can unlock freedom on the dance floor, you can unlock freedom in your life.
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: I love how you figured out this is what's occurring to me right now.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: It's like you figured out how to like harness this energy, right?
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And use it in a really intentional way.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: I know this.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: This is what changed my life as a teenager, going to punk rock shows and finally feeling like I was a part of something.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Finally feeling like I belong somewhere or there was some deeper meaning to my life.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And I think that a lot of people have that feeling also.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: But what happens is you attribute it to the show and you don't realize that it's actually coming from you.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what you've been able to do is create that shift where it's like, no, no, this is actually you, and you can get into this state and use this power that you have to create a transformation in your life.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: That just goes along with the fact that I am so passionate about empowering people to understand that everything they need actually lives inside of them.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: But we aren't given any instruction manual for ourselves when we are born.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: And so we just do the best that we can.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: And unfortunately, we have been set up to believe that what we need is out here.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: But that's not actually true.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Once we understand, yes, we may need some recalibration from people.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: We we need to learn from people, but everything we need is right in here.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: Our body knows how to heal itself.
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: Our body knows when it is in a state of balance, we'll go towards growth.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: That's how we're designed.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: So I do think that it is extremely important for people to understand that we don't have to rely on anything outside of ourselves.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: For live music, as an example, it gives us that experience to realize what is possible.
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: We realize it is possible to experience that level of joy, that level of bliss, that level of pleasure, that level of connection, that we can feel connected to that spiritual experience of that sense of oneness that can happen when we're at a show, that sense of belonging, right?
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: So that gives us the experience to realize that it is possible.
- 30:20SPEAKER_01: And then once we know it is possible, it is about okay, how do I take that and cultivate it in my everyday life, which is what I'm very passionate about.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: So that's embodied groove.
- 30:36SPEAKER_00: And it's really interesting because I feel like for me too, over the past, I don't know, year or so, I feel like the idea of dance and movement has come up for me in so many ways too, of like how important that is in the healing process and just about getting in your body.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: There are certain ways that you learn, like when I started learning Kalari, the ancient Indian martial art that I've been doing, because it's very much like a dance.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: And there were these certain things that would be like so hard for me.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: And not only were they so hard, but I would also feel like embarrassed that I couldn't do it.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: And then underneath of that, what I was aware of is like shame.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, why am I feeling shame?
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: This is really hard.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Like I just learned this.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: But what I realized is it was actually like forcing me to access places in my body that I was holding shame, that like I wasn't allowing myself to fully be embodied in those areas because there was shame there.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: And that for me was a really big aha.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: Cause I was like, oh, if I wasn't doing this practice, I wouldn't have accessed this.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: So it's really accessing it on a on just such a different level that you wouldn't be able to otherwise.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Cause like, even like, for example, with my work and accessing shame, we're accessing it on an energetic level, on an intellectual level.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: We probably will access it in the body, but I don't think you can access it in the same way that you would be able to with movement.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: It's just different.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: I I think it's so important.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: I don't think there's any other way into this certain thing, other than I don't know how to describe it, but there was like for me, it didn't seem like there was any other way into that way that I was holding shame in my body other than movement and other than this particular thing that I was learning and having to kind of like go towards.
- 32:36SPEAKER_00: So I think from that regard too, it's really important.
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: And I think it's like a really powerful pathway for people to understand what's in there that they don't know about.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: So, all that to say, I think that there was probably this point for you, and I'd like to talk about this from like just like a personal growth or trauma perspective too.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: That process of just really allowing yourself to fully be like, this is what I'm doing, and this is my thing, and this is what I'm placing all of like my value on was the turning point for you.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: And what do you think were some of maybe the like traumas or past things you had to get over in order to get to that point?
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: And then what happened after that?
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: Okay, you might have to remind me of some of those questions.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: I will.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: I definitely flipped back and forth, and you can probably remember this because I remember coming to a call and being like, this is it, Elise, it's embodied groove.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: This is what I need to focus on.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: And I think it might have been, it wasn't that long ago, like maybe four months ago or something.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: And then I started doing things with relationship coaching, which I do see embodied groove as the relationship because it is all about creating a relationship with ourselves, right?
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: On a deeper level and also the world around us on a deeper level, because everything is about relationships.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: So that's another core understanding that I that I get and I embody and I bring into my work, but it put the focus on another place.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: I teetered back and forth on that.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: And honestly, I don't know why I have been so scared.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: It's it's almost like the first time that I realized that I was gonna focus my dissertation on the experience of of live music, which has then led me to the creation of Embodied Groove, I cried.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: Like there was just such a deep knowing that that was what I needed to do, but also a fear of what is gonna happen if I do this.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: I don't have words for exactly what that is.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: I know that sorry to interrupt, but I think it's also like when it's like that thing that is so the deepest part of your being and it feels so vulnerable because it feels like you're bearing your like heart and soul to the world, that's scary because if somebody tells you that that's wrong or somebody criticizes it, it's like life shattering almost.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: And I think that to me, that's part of it.
- 35:13SPEAKER_00: Cause I know when I've had those moments, it's just, oh my God, this is so hard because this is like from the deepest depths of my being.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: So to me, that's part of it.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's all of it.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, I totally agree with you.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: I would say the same thing, definitely part of it.
- 35:31SPEAKER_01: And I don't know if it's all of it.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: When you're saying that, I have to mention this because it just keeps coming up.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: My son, who is 14, maybe three weeks ago, very seriously came to me and asked me not to focus on embodied groove.
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: And it was really interesting.
- 35:55SPEAKER_01: Like he was taking on these like fears.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: And I don't know.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: And like I wondered if my husband had said something to him, like in a more like financial way, but he swears he didn't.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: I don't know if he's picking up on my unexpressed fears, or I have no idea why that happened.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: But he was like, mom, like, focus on your coaching, like, focus on this other thing that you're you're building.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Like, you're so smart.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: This is really good.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Essentially, what he was telling me with Embodied Groove is that I'm gonna be old soon and nobody wants to learn dance from an old woman.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: Wait, I just have to say, because you know how I love the parent-child relationship and like the mirror.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: I'm like obsessed with this.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: So I do feel like our kids literally say to us our worst fears.
- 36:46SPEAKER_00: They do.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: I remember like at one point, I was getting ready to invest a certain amount of money and I was like scared about it.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: And Levi literally comes up to me and he said something about that amount of money.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: Like he was, do you even have this much money?
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: Like he said something that was totally out of left field, but it was the exact amount of money that I was like contemplating over.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: And it was literally like he was reading my worst fear and saying it back to me.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: And he does that with Matt all the time too.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: They don't know they're doing it, but I think they literally will just the worst thing you could ever think of, like your worst shadow, they just will be like, say it to you.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: It just happens.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: I don't know why it happens, but I feel like they're so connected to our psyche and our subconscious that they just like illuminate things for us.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: And you know, I think that's true.
- 37:39SPEAKER_01: Cause like I love to wear sexy outfits while I'm teaching a body group, and there will come a point where I'm gonna have to shift.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: Like the out, you know, I see myself I mean, like, yes and no.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: Like, I feel like you just do things that are, I feel like there's this idea of, oh, at some point you just have to become like an old woman with like gray hair, like knitting or something, but I don't think that's true at all.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: And I feel like you just evolve, but I think it's more like your worst fear thing.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: What I will say about that is that to showcase growth here is that it didn't trigger me, it didn't pull me in.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: And instead, I was like, okay, honey, thanks for your concern.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm not gonna debate with him.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna be like, I'm just thanked him for his concern.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: And I knew inside of myself that whatever, I'm not buying into this, which was such a sign of progress and of growth because oh my god, yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_01: I feel like a lot of decisions have been fear-based.
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: And no, I'm not giving into that.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: I know what I'm here to do, and that's what I'm gonna follow.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Cause I feel like so much of the beginning of this path ends up being like anytime someone says something to you, you're like, oh my God, does that mean I'm doing the wrong thing?
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: Or because we have doubt, anytime someone doesn't approve or doesn't ask a question or whatever, we can take it as they don't think we should do this or we're wrong or something.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: And I feel like that did show you like you're unshakable in this now.
- 39:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which was really amazing.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: And even I've started a weekly class in the Bay Area, which I started last Friday.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: And and the reason that I had not started it before was fear-based.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: Part of it was fear because if I start it and nobody shows up, then I'm a failure.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:44SPEAKER_01: So if I don't start it, then nobody will know if I'm a failure or not.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:49SPEAKER_01: And then also the other part of it was I was really tied to having live musicians because that is my preferred delivery of Embodied Groove is with live musicians.
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: But still, I feel like that fear was like keeping me narrowly minded in it has to be this way.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: And if it's not this way, then it can't happen.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: And being able to pay musicians when I don't have an established class is challenging and I don't have the kind of funds.
- 40:17SPEAKER_01: I am still working on looking at grants for having that happen and also focusing on specific populations because I do want to do some research on the effectiveness of embodied groove.
- 40:29SPEAKER_01: So that's still in the works.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: But I'm just like, it is so time for me to bring this to the people on a regular basis.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: And with everything that's going on in the world, it's like we need movement and community and healing and elevation, however, we can get it.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: And like you were mentioning your martial arts practice.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: It's like, I think we all will gravitate towards the different ways.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: The importance is that we are connecting with something that allows us to move in a way that we can get down deeper because our body does store trauma.
- 41:06SPEAKER_01: It does store stress.
- 41:08SPEAKER_01: And the beautiful thing about movement is we don't even have to process it on a cognitive level to be able to release it.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Like we might have an insight that might come up and it's, oh my gosh, that was connected to that.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: But it's not like we have to retell our story to get there.
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: It's just like we just have to be able to tap into our bodies to be able to use its guidance because it will always tell us what it needs to heal.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: So that I feel like the the live class, I think, is one of the fruits of you just being like, okay, this is this is what I do and this is what I'm doing.
- 41:44SPEAKER_00: But there's also been so many other things that have happened.
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: So what's coming to my mind right now is my little kind of connection that I was being led to establish with Embodied Groove, like the end of the year, beginning of this year, because I always have lots of ideas, more ideas than I can ever actually execute at one time.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: And so it became clear that I needed to have, first of all, cultivate a regular relationship with the energy of Embodied Groove, because I do truly feel like it is its own energy.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: It's just coming through me.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: I am just the vessel for it.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And I gotta check my ego and take off like my thinking that I have to make it happen in a certain way.
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: And it's okay, let me open up to the energy and see how it wants to move through and what it wants to do.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: So, with that, when I did that, I had a couple of things that I was like, all right, let me find out where the energy is.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: And the first one was with the VIP ladies' retreats.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: That one was like, yes, this is what we want to do.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: I was like, I think I need to run another retreat.
- 42:51SPEAKER_01: I threw up a post on Facebook and a group with, I don't know, 19,000 people or something who are my people.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: And that retreat was sold out before tickets even went on sale.
- 43:04SPEAKER_00: I know that was incredible.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: And that was really cool because you were like, okay, I'm just asking it what it wants.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: This is what it said.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: And then immediately it happened.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: It was so fast.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: We looked at the sales page, and then it was like, oh, wait, it's sold out already.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: I don't even need a sales page.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: I never even announced it to my larger community because it's sold.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: I only had three spots.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: So it is a very intimate retreat, but it sold out just from really that post that I threw up.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: And then, like, I had a small waiting list of people that from the retreat that I ran last summer that wanted to know about more.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: And I raised my prices by like a thousand dollars from the retreat that I ran last summer, which I was not sure how that was gonna go, but apparently it worked.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was obviously supposed to happen, and I think it's just So unique.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: I love this whole idea.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: I'm not surprised, but I just love how when you like really opened up to what it was just supposed to be and what it wanted to be.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Like, cause I feel like I kind of want to talk about this a little bit for just like the greater conversation.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Cause I feel like sometimes in business we think things are supposed to look a certain way, or we think it's supposed to unfold a certain way.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: And then like maybe because that's how it was for somebody else, or that's just what we think the trajectory should be.
- 44:39SPEAKER_00: And then it's almost like we like push and force, and it just cuts off the energy and it doesn't really happen.
- 44:48SPEAKER_00: And I know for me, anytime I try to make something happen, it either didn't happen at all or it was fine, but it wasn't like magical, you know?
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: And when you really just allow yourself to like stop trying to like make something become what you think it should be and just let it be what it wants to be, it just easily flows so well.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: And what's coming to me also is about the intention behind it.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Because I think for a lot of things that I had done in the past, it was almost like this proving kind of energy.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Also, I'm really good at, I mean, I've gone far in my education, so I'm really good at learning and applying.
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: And so there definitely, I've noticed there definitely is such a balance.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: We have so much information coming at us all the time.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: And then it's so important for us to have mentors and guides and teachers, but also the importance of being able to have time to check in with our own internal guidance, whether that's our intuition or the energy of the thing that we're bringing in.
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: And that is, I will even say in my own case, that's like easily the first to go.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: No, for sure.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: I've had that happen too, where it's like I wanted to do something one way.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: And then I like got advice about, oh, you should do it this way.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: And I did.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: But then like looking back, it's, and it's not to say it wasn't good advice.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: It just might not have been what was right for me at that time.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: But because of like fear or because we naturally can just sometimes want to refer to somebody that we think has more knowledge or whatever, and that feels safer.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: And then you just kind of like let go of your own knowing and try to like do something in the way that this is the way it's gonna like work best or whatever.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: And it takes a lot of nuance too, because I feel like there are times where it is nice to get information from somebody else and a perspective that like maybe stuff you didn't think of or ways you can do things that you wouldn't have thought of otherwise that are helpful.
- 47:03SPEAKER_00: But sometimes it's like you have to listen to your intuition because that's just how it was meant to happen.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: And there are no really like rules to that.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: Like in the example of the retreat, the key pieces were hearing that I needed to run the retreat and also that I needed to put up that post.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: If I hadn't put up that post at the time that I did, because in this group, it's like I've had posts that get no engagement.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: And then this one, it was like, I don't know, close to a hundred likes and like 60 comments or something.
- 47:39SPEAKER_01: I got so many people that were interested.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: And it was from that post that I sold those three.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Wow, those three spots.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: And if I hadn't been open to hearing that, then I wouldn't have done it.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Or if I had heard it, and I'm like, oh, I'll do that later.
- 47:53SPEAKER_01: Like it was the timing, it was the hearing that, and it was the knowing that it was time to run the retreat.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: And then I had you to help with the with the sales page, which now I have moving forward, which is so important too.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:06SPEAKER_00: And I was just thinking too, like, if you would have gone off of what happened in the past and been like, oh, every time I post in there, nothing happens, then it wouldn't have happened either.
- 48:17SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it was like so much of just letting go of anything else and just doing what you were guided to do.
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: And I think that is such a huge part of running a business, sadly.
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: Like there are things that are important to know, right?
- 48:32SPEAKER_00: But there is no formula.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: And I think you have to be able to integrate information and then ultimately listen to your intuition and just what is come so naturally to you.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: And I think that was one of the things I was thinking about too.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: Cause I remember, remember, like at one point when we were about to have a call, I was like, Leah, I have something to tell you.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: I was like, I have something to tell you.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: Cause I just saw it so clearly that embodied groove is your business, unless you focus everything around that.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: Because it was like it just got to this point where it just felt so right and so natural to let that be the thing in whatever way it wanted to express itself.
- 49:18SPEAKER_00: And then just allowing that, like allowing yourself to do the thing that feels the most right.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: And I think that we fight that sometimes.
- 49:28SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 49:29SPEAKER_01: I have spent a lot of time barring the door because I was afraid of, or part of me was afraid of what would happen had I just let that energy flow through.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: And then what would you say, like just from like a healing perspective or like a trauma perspective, what would you say you had to shift in order to really allow that to be the case?
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: I think I went through the metamorphosis twice.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: And then just all the other programs that were included in the mothership, like working with identifying my core wound, which was that I was not worthy, that I was unlovable, that things were given to others instead of me, that there was a limited amount and becoming conscious of that, and then being able to notice when it's coming up and realize that this is just this core belief that is not actually true.
- 50:31SPEAKER_01: And doing the inner child healing, being able to really let my inner child know that it's okay, that I'm right here with her, that she is safe, that she is loved, that everything is gonna work out.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: That has been tremendous to be able to increase my trust in myself and in the universe so that I can know that even if it looks like it's not working, or if something doesn't work one time doesn't mean that that there's anything wrong with me.
- 51:02SPEAKER_01: I think that that was a big thing.
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: It was very personal.
- 51:05SPEAKER_01: And so I've just tried over and over and over again to take the personal piece out and realize that you just have to try things a million different times and see what works, and maybe once it'll work and once it won't, and you just keep going because of that conviction that this is what I'm here to do in the world.
- 51:24SPEAKER_01: And that conviction has gotten a lot louder as well.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: And it's helpful for me too to listen to people that have that same purpose and conviction, because that helps me really be able to continue to activate that inside myself as opposed to getting caught up in all the fear and the noise of the other side.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: Well, I think what you said about there being something wrong with me is like a huge thing because when something goes wrong, or wrong, quote unquote, like where it's doesn't go the way you thought it should go, the immediate thing is to think, oh, there must be something wrong with me.
- 52:00SPEAKER_00: And to take it totally personal, that's not really obviously in those moments, I would say addressing your inner child is really important.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: But then also from a business perspective, it's if I was working for like an agency or something and we did a marketing campaign and it didn't work, we would literally just go back and be like, okay, what can we tweak or what can we change or what did we learn about this?
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: And what are we gonna do moving forward?
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: There would literally be no like attachment to your worthiness or you being good enough or whatever it is.
- 52:36SPEAKER_00: So I think that piece is so important when you're able to be like, okay, this part is my inner child, right?
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna address that.
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: And then everything else can be addressed from a business perspective because the inner child isn't running the show and trying to run a business, thinking that everything means that there's something wrong with her.
- 52:55SPEAKER_01: Yes, exactly.
- 52:57SPEAKER_00: So I think that being able to do that then allows you to run a business with so much more like just level-headedness or like clarity and confidence.
- 53:10SPEAKER_00: So what would you say?
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: Because I know there was a lot of things that unfolded, like the retreat, and now you're doing the regular live class.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: And I know there were a few other things, but just overall in the last year, what would you say were like the biggest things that you created?
- 53:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there was a point last year where things that I had started putting in motion like five years prior, even seven years prior, like came to came to fruition, like creating the Festival in program at Joshua Tree Music Festival, which is an opportunity to really dive festival goers into a deeper experience of what is possible, both at the festival itself, but then also taking it out into their everyday lives.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: And I love I sent you the picture of one of the participants meeting the mayor of Philadelphia, which was like my favorite feedback that I got from him.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: He was like, I'm now treating every day as a festival day and open to the magic that I can create and can experience.
- 54:09SPEAKER_01: And part of that was he was at this event and the mayor of Philadelphia happened to be standing close by.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: And he said that normally he would have not had the confidence to go up or just like not done what he ended up doing, which was going up and introducing himself.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: And he has a business in Philadelphia.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: I think he was probably promoting or doing some kind of networking for that.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: But that to me, it made me cry, brought tears to my eyes, like just the depth of that.
- 54:39SPEAKER_01: So that happened.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: And I only had two people that signed up, which was not my ideal.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: That's not where I want it to go.
- 54:45SPEAKER_01: And there's some things that I need to figure out, like how to continue to do that sustainably.
- 54:50SPEAKER_01: But that had been something that I had wanted to do for seven years.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: And it happened.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: And then I just talked to the producer of Joshua Tree on Friday, and he's so excited about bringing me back and like really wants to figure out how to make this be sustainable for me.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: And so that's one of the things that I'm like, that I have to be careful at because I'm really good at making connections with people and people like really want to support me.
- 55:18SPEAKER_01: And so I just need to know where to put my energy.
- 55:21SPEAKER_01: And and sometimes I know I'm gonna have to say no to some things, which is difficult for me when people are like, Yeah, let's do this.
- 55:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, Yeah, that sounds great.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: But then I have to be like, oh, wait, okay.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like how does this logistically fit into my life and energetically and all of that?
- 55:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: That's a good problem to have though.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: It is, it is, yes.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that was one of the things, and then just other like I ended up opening for my favorite band, and we created this portal into the dark star universe.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: It was like right after Phil Esh had passed, and it that was amazing.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: And and the guitarist for that band was like, that was my favorite set that I've ever played.
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: And and I know it's just like bringing that intentionality and focusing people because music and movement they activate that level of depth.
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: But like when we can consciously say, this is what we're here to do, this is how we're setting it up, and let's see what happens.
- 56:21SPEAKER_01: So it's interesting.
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: I've really been connecting recently with Dr.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: Joe Dispenza, which I have just never really paid much attention to.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: And it's blowing my mind.
- 56:31SPEAKER_01: Like I'm listening to the you are the placebo right now, and I'm like, oh my God, this is everything that I teach people.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: I'm not doing workshops where I'm helping people heal MS or anything, but I'm like helping people heal chronic pain and anxiety and depression using the exact techniques that he's talking about.
- 56:48SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this is everything that I learned in my PhD for mind body medicine.
- 56:52SPEAKER_01: And I've been really inspired because he was leading a workshop in Basel, Germany, maybe somewhere in Europe.
- 57:00SPEAKER_01: And there were like 8,000 people there.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: And they were like, they had on their light up wrist things, which concerts will do sometimes where like the lights go down, but then there's lights on the wrists and they can activate them through some kind of technology.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: And I was like, that is what I want to do.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: That is the scale of what I want to do.
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: I want to have like thousands and thousands of people coming together with intentional live music and movement, like really helping people understand what is possible and then helping them to teach, like breaking it down how they can actually bring it out into their everyday life.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: And I think that's been one of the biggest things is like making all of those connections and the creation of gradually getting to the point where that is a thing, like what we've talked about with fish.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: I don't think you mentioned the retreats or at fish shows, but we both were like, and I think I said this, and you were like, Yeah, that's what I've been visualizing, at least.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: But I was like, you should be like a thing on the checkout page where it's like, okay, I want to add embodied groove.
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: And you're like, yeah, at least I've already thought of that.
- 58:09SPEAKER_00: But yeah, no, I think that all signs are pointing to this is where it's going, even with the retreat, the last retreat and this retreat happening, and then you have a few more coming up, and it's it's gradually like expanding into the vision that you have for it.
- 58:27SPEAKER_00: And I think it's so important to just be in that journey.
- 58:32SPEAKER_00: Cause I think sometimes we can be like, oh, it hasn't happened yet or whatever, but it's happening.
- 58:37SPEAKER_00: All signs are pointing that this is the direction we're going.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: It's just about being on the journey and allowing it to unfold because, like you said about intention, like you know what the intention is, and you've already seen the way that it has already unfolded.
- 58:53SPEAKER_00: So I think it's it's just a matter of time.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: Agreed.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: And the other piece that I'll just mention with that, that I think has been important and it it ties to just my philosophy in how I teach people and how I see the world is to not put everything outside.
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: And I think that was a shift that needed to happen where it was like I wanted to bring it to these festivals, I wanted to collaborate with these bands, and I wanted to do these things, and that puts everything outside of me.
- 59:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's me that's making the connections and that's talking to the people, but then it's okay, how can I do this on my own, which is why that class was so important to me.
- 59:31SPEAKER_01: It's I can show up every week and I can do this.
- 59:35SPEAKER_01: And so I've been really careful to catch myself.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: Am I putting my agency outside of myself where somebody else has to say yes, or where I feel like, oh, if I could just partner with this person, then it'll get me to where I want to be because they have this many people that listen to them.
- 59:51SPEAKER_01: That's great, but I also need to be walking my own path myself.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: And too, what I'm really like, the music industry is just, especially the artists that I love, they're struggling to get by themselves.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_01: So, like for me to be like, let's put this other thing in that they love and see the value of, but like, where's the money in it right now?
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: This is my thing.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: I now have connections with the artists that I can bring to my thing.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: And I'm just gonna continue walking my path.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: And if other opportunities from out here come in, amazing.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: And they will, as I continue to walk my path and cultivate the community and to cultivate the energy around what I'm doing, then they're gonna be like, oh wow, what's going on over there?
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Instead of me like going out to them, they're gonna be coming to me and being like, hey, come over here.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_01: We want some of that too.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_00: I think that's so important because I think that that can be something that some people can get stuck in in the beginning, is like, oh, if I just have this like connection or this thing happens, but usually that's not even true either.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's it's so much more about what you're doing and how you're living it and embodying it is what makes it happen.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_00: So I think, yeah, the class I think was a really perfect representation of you doing that and being like, this is this is my thing, this is what I do, and I'm gonna be the leader of this and take it where it needs to go.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was just it was an incredible thing to watch.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_00: And I was just so excited to see all of the ways that this came together and culminated this year.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: As we wrap up, is there anything else you'd like to share just about your experience this year in the mothership or any other results or shifts that you've noticed?
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I will say that I loved my experience in the mothership.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: I I loved just knowing that I had a full year to learn and be and connect.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: There's some amazing people that end up joining.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_01: So I love the connections with others.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_01: I love knowing that you are gonna be my guide for a whole year.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_01: And just like the, yeah, the safety of dropping into that was was really huge.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: And I think that that's something to be said about making a year commitment.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_01: And so much has changed.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: Just like my energy has changed, my confidence has changed, even the money that I'm making from my job, which I'm not seeing as a job, has changed, and that's been amazing.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and just like really coming home to what's important, and as we've been talking about, and walking that out in the world and knowing that I am doing different things, and that's cool.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_01: I'm a manifestor in human design.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_01: I think that's been another thing of me just like owning the fact that I do have ideas that are just different and out of the box, and and having the confidence is so important to be able to walk that out.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_01: And really seriously, the the biggest thing was was identifying and healing that core wound that I had.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: If that hadn't happened, I'd still be spinning my wheels.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_00: No, it is, it's so true.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: And I agree with you.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_00: I think the confidence piece is huge, and I see that in you so much.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_00: If I'm just reflecting on a year ago, like if I had to say like one difference, it would be your confidence.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like you're really like just so embodied, I keep saying that, in what you're doing.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_00: And like, I don't know, it's palpable.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'm just really excited for you.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to see where you go with everything.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_00: And would you be able to share with people where they can find you and if there's anything out that you have going on right now?
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: So you can find me at drleataylor.com and you can also find me at drleahor on Instagram.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty active there.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: I would say what I'd love to offer your community is my free resource.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: It's a stress less joy more toolkit because really that is foundational.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: If we can do anything to reduce anything, the stress is so important and to activate that sense of joy.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_01: It does include a 15-minute embodied groove practice.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_01: So you'll get a little taste of embodied groove.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: And it also includes the only stress management strategy you will ever need.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: It's so simple.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_01: And I break it down in about 15 minutes.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: So that's more of a little bit more of a cognitive thing and something that you can continue to use over and over again.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: And then there's the the movement practice too, which will help you to release that stress in a fun and joyful way.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm glad people can experience embodied groove since we've talked about it so much.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: So thank you so much for sharing everything.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for being here.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_00: This was amazing.
