Lionel Bopage joined Green Left Radio on October 23 to discuss his new book “Roots of a Crisis: Nationalism, Class Struggle and the National Question of Sri Lanka”.
The book offers a critical examination from within the Marxist tradition of how a serious revolutionary analysis of Sri Lanka’s national question was formulated, where it succeeded, and where it failed. This includes support for Tamil liberation.
Bopage argues that socialists need to take a strong stand defending minority rights “even if it costs them votes” among majority communities.
