- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: What is going on at Bill's mafia, built in Buffalo fam house, everybody doing tonight to welcome in to the triple coverage podcast.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, tonight it is double coverage.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a little bit of a few weeks with double coverage, Scott's injury and then lead deal with stuff and now it's Lance's on vacation.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll be on vacation next week.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: So it's gonna be a double coverage for the next few weeks.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: But no Lance tonight, Scott though, is here with me tonight.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: First time I've been with you, Scott, since sensor injury.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm happy to be back talking football with ya.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Before we jump in, everything though, I do just want to do one quick sponsor for us.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: Get shout out to Awake and 180 weight loss.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: As you, if you watched this for the past few months, you've known Lance has been on his Awake and 180 journey and has, I believe, finished his Awake and 180 journey to the two amount of pounds he would like to lose.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: They do a great job, everybody I've ever known has done it has loved it.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: So if you are interested, go to Awake and 180 weight loss.com.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: how you doing buddy, spend a minute.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, doing well, excited to be back.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: I got here to start doing some walking this week.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: So that's been exciting.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: Can't just get out and walk, but then you don't walk around the house a little bit, ditching the crutches when I can.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, and we're getting closer to football, which is a good thing.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's what, under eight weeks now,
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: The first game, less than two weeks still training camp at three weeks to the Hall of Fame game, six weeks to week zero.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Once we hit, you know, August 1st, I feel like it goes really fast, so getting close to having some actual football to watch.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, you you mentioned it with with it's getting closer and it's funny because like now it's the time where my fantasy shots are starting to say, hey, what are we going to start doing the draft when we're going to start getting stuff ready and find out when everybody can do that and you know we saw training camp stuff come out the bills it's a new stadium is an exciting time for bills fans, but yeah, it also sounds like you're doing better than maybe like a milk neighbors was doing in his recovery shot on a milk neighbor.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I won't be planning to share these golf ball games anytime soon, getting the slid-ins bill.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's unfortunate there, but what can you do about it?
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I'm excited to talk about this with you, excited to get close to it, as you mentioned, we're getting closer and closer, and I'm going to start it off with many air with training camp, many camp.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: Training camp.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: It is two weeks away, it's getting close, I know some people are, I know it's happy about
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: and, you know, what the blue and red game being for season ticket holders, although they might be going to be doing the sack on as well.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: So just how you feel and going into camp like is it, does it feel like you're that is the same anticipation as years past or does it feel like maybe you got to wait till it really gets going into camp for people to start getting as excited as maybe they have been in past years.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm looking forward to training camp from the second that the season ends.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the Monday after the Super Bowl is just like a damn what do I do now?
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: Type feeling for me?
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm fired up getting hurt and not leaving my bedroom for the entire month of June as also helps kind of light that fire because the world cups saved my brain being able to watch that, but it's not the same.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: So you know, having football to watch and to talk about, yeah, I'm really excited.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: don't give a shit about any of the blue and red screen engine who can go who can't go whatever like I care about the bills getting better on the field and that's all that really matters to me as long as they do practice and they get 1% better every day don't care who's there watching it so yeah I'm fired up you know this is we got one more show next week then the show after that we'll have some training camp highlights to talk about so yeah I'm real excited
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, it's weird for me, if we're training camp for me, it feels like the past two three years kind of have been exciting, but I've cared less or less over the past two or three years about training camp because like you said, it's really just about one there in the regular season, what are they going to actually do during the season?
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: We've had the same coach, it's kind of the same style, a lot of same players.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: As, you know, besides hard knocks last year, it was really like, okay, I feel like we kind of knew who everybody and, you know, the other were some cool small stories in there, but this year does feel a little different to me, and even though it does feel a little bit like not as people aren't as excited, partly I do think because of the sabers and the offseason and the excitement around them as well.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's less or more distraction from the bills, but I think once it does start people are going to be like, oh, okay, like, you know, we'll see how Joe Brady is.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how DJ More comes in.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see some of these new guys on the defense, what the defense is going to look like.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's a little bit more exciting when years pass just because of the unknowns.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I'm excited to see what news comes out.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to any of the actual days of training camp if you can even get a ticket to there.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: But either way, I'm still excited to just see the news and see what kind of who looks good and who's impressing in camp.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, two weeks, two weeks away, we'll be here before you know it.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm just going to bring this up next because I saw a John Robert ask a question about him.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about the bills did make a signing as well.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: They're very, very claimed Quentin Skinner wide receiver.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: So he asked, what do you think about the new signing Quentin Skinner?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: He has various opinions.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: Scott, you've mentioned a little bit before the show.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: What you thought about him and Andrew's kind of, you know, is this a camp body?
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: Is that really all you see him as or do you think maybe if he can make a push from the outside in?
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, he...
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's an idea.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see this guy in the team.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe on the practice squad.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was on the Jets practice squad for most of the last year called a played one game.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_01]: I remember him at Kansas.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's where he played.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: He was part of those teams with Jalen Daniels who were Kansas.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: They got
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: What forget the coach isn't a high pole right from Buffalo.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: He came and became their coach and they kind of started to turn things around and the you know Kansas was watchable So I remember him there.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big body receiver he's six five runs in the four five so he's a contested catch guy, but yeah, like he is a camp receiver I don't I don't see him making the team Maybe maybe the practice squad, but
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: I think five of the receiver spots are pretty locked up and there's that six spot.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the the shavers roll until he comes back from his injury.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Probably Trent sure field for the time being.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess in theory there is a spot open if they keep six receivers, but I don't think it's this guy like he just can't perceive her.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it's going to be even tough because, you know, there's still the, you know, the rumbling, I guess, of, hey, well, Brandon Cook still wants to come back here.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: You want to love to still play here, so if they need to go back to, if he played special teams, but we don't only have a spot for him.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: So unless, yeah, I, like, if I, even if one of those top five guys goes down, I would imagine they'll look elsewhere other than Skinner unfortunately, um,
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if he can maybe, like John saying here, maybe he couldn't stay on the team as a special team teamer.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just, well, again, how much does Joe Brady value special teams compared to, like, how much did Sean McDermott do it?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, we'll even see that when it comes up to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to,
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: fraying camp and how many on when it's final cut day what how many guys are they keeping that you're looking at and say ah that's a that's a keep for special teams is it going to be the same last year is going to be last the last year is going to be the same Franklin the how many year deal so at least one yeah so you got at least one will they be a heavy in that I feel like Sean McDermott was somebody that emphasized we need special teams guys all the good things are yeah and it's it's important as it is it's like we'll see I guess if Quentin Skinner couldn't
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they necessarily are going to question can he play special teams from it's can he do more than just that though?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: Is he able to prove that he can not just be a special team's guy because if that's all he is, there's going to be a lot of guys I think that they'll bring in to say hey you're going to be competing for that special team spot.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be tough.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if Skinner can make some noise though in camp.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Before we get to the execs list, you want to go over there.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about Dan Dawkins.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: He did come in the news a little bit as he always seems to be in the news nowadays, whether it's
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: something that you are confused about, whether he's doing a performance on some random award show, or it's because he's making, making comments about trash talking the juts and hate and players.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: This time though, he actually talked about going into this season.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about really lost 45 pounds.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: It will be the skiniest he's ever been going in the camp, I believe he said.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: And he said that there will be a huge help to him.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: So how much do you think
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: that will affect Dion and do you think he also think that he'll keep it on until the season or keep it off until the start of season.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's awesome for Dion.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's not getting any younger.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: What's he 31 now, when I started talking about this last week, this is gonna be year 10 for him.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: So it's hard to stay quick on your feet like you have to read the left tackle position.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was listed at 320.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: He said he's down 45 pounds from his heaviest.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: I want to imagine he was probably way in in north of 320 so yeah I think it's it's great he'll find when he gets into camp if he's like too light he's getting pushed around but Dion's not alignment that wins because he's just like bigger stronger than you like he wins because he's athletic and because he has
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't I would say has good technique as unique technique, um, then like the let's know job thing, whatever he does.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's really good with his hands.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: So last year, he got some holding calls because he had to reach because his feet weren't moving like he's used to.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it'll help him for sure.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: And if he gets into camp and he's getting pushed around a little, it's really easy to toss on 10, 15 pounds if you need to.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think it's good for him.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's a good way for him to, as the enters, you know, the second, the third period of his career probably to, you know, start taking a little bit better care of his body.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm curious just to see, because I mean, this was a lot of talk this offseason, even I feel like a little bit last year and even over the past month or so, people talk about like, well, hey, before free agency and before everything right at the end of the season, people were talking, hey, it's Deanna guy that they could potentially move on from, because he's got a huge cap head, he's getting older, and obviously they didn't move on from him and now I've seen a little bit over the past
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, is Dianne's last shot on the bills?
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: Do they look to move on after him?
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, do they draft even during draft?
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, do they draft a guy in hopes that maybe he can become a replacement for Dianne in the next year or two?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: So this is, I think, a huge year for him.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Not just for the bills, for his career in general, because if he continues to have some holding penalties and continues to look like he maybe is losing a step
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: One, it's not just, oh, is his time with the bills done.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's how much longer does he have in the NFL and how much longer can he play as a starter, and that those conversations will start up.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I think for Deon, it's a huge, huge year for him, especially if he wants to continue here, because I think if he has a brutal year, if he has even a year where it's middle of the pack, and he's still getting some holding penalties, there's gonna be some conversations at the end of the season of, hey,
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: We move on from him.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: So I do like that he is taking proactive and saying, hey, I'm getting older.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I got to start doing stuff and doing things and maybe are different that I've done during my career.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what you see the good, the good, the great players do, right?
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: You see those guys adjust as they get older, as they, you know, they said, hey, we got to use my brain and instead of maybe more my youth and my athleticism, I got to start being smarter.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I like it for Dian.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Um, before we get into the QB room and the running back room, you want to go over these exact executive lists that have come out and have been a hot topic.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know which ones if you guys did go over any last week.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll let you talk about which ones you want to talk about.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: So every year on this time, you know, the dead period of the NFL, the SPN does the executive and scouts list where, you know, NFL execs make, make their top 10s for each position group.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: I put a little bit more stock into this than I do, you know, all the other lists just because these are NFL people it's not journalists it's not it's not whatever it's people who make they're living evaluating player talent and.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: was interesting.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: Only two bills made the top 10.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Allen, I'm sure everybody saw was number one.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well deserved at the quarterback position.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: James Cook was number seven at the running back spot.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue rushing champ should be higher, but there's just so many good running backs in the league right now.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of all interchangeable.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, nobody else made the list, Deon, who we just talked about was honorable mention.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in the top 10 for I think last few years, wasn't this year.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Dalton can Kate honorable mention for top 10 tight ends, but for him it was more of a healthy thing rather than
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: you know, a productivity thing, which I think is totally fair.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sean McGovern and the others receiving votes category for interior alignment.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: They do centers and guards together, so a lot more spots there, competition, expensive round, also others receiving votes, and then the only bill on defense to get any votes anywhere was at all over and the others receiving votes category.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: for for a team that definitely has Super Bowl aspirations and you know, is this a Super Bowl ready roster?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: It certainly doesn't sound like it's a Super Bowl ready defense.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: So shows the wide Josh Allen kind of how good he is in being number one that he carries a from bleaks perspective and otherwise average roster to to such heights.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: But what do you think like anybody you think should have been on there?
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anybody think got snubbed?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: They just, you know, fond to talk about when there's
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't think anybody got majorly snubbed.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that like I saw people in Twitter So you know this guy should've been there and it's funny because you see every team saying that about somebody on their people Oh, how was this guy not on here?
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: I was just guy not on here There's a lot of great players in the fall.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's the especially when you ask guys There'll be people all over the board.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean even saw the players won coming out which I think
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: People even are starting to lose faith and that one more than any other ones saying we're more direct and coming in that 69 on the top 100 is crazy to me.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: But nonetheless, I just think there's a lot of opinions in the NFL, especially based on how people look at talent.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: Some people look at it based on just their team and say, well, if I'm looking at my team, my scheme, what we run, this is my top 10.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe some of them said, well, no, based on just talent alone, this is my top 10.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's a lot of guys that could very easily be in this top 10 list next year.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: I just think because of some of the reasons, even you said, they're either on the outside looking in or being overlooked still Christian Benford, I think is one.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: He had a little bit of a down here last year.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a little bit of it on your last year, but I just think a lot of stuff, he's also, he's also the type of corner that's he's not necessarily a flashy corner.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's not necessarily a corner that, you know, you're going to be see making eight interceptions on a year.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: He is a quiet, keep a good corner back to usually don't.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so like he's a quiet corner bed keeps himself he's not on social media is not all like he's keeps himself he does his business So I don't think that for corner especially you start to see a lot of guys look at okay takeaways you see guys look at oh who is always getting into with other people like
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: corner is a weird one.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_00]: So he's one that I think could very easily be next year.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: I get why maybe he's not on a certain list.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: I do think he's round that 10 range.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's necessarily some guy that's like, oh, he had to be on that list.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Cole Bishop, another guy I think can be on that list next year.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think he had a great season last year.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: I just think for a lot of guys, it might be, well, he needs to do show it for one more year before we can put him in top 10.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can be though if he has another great year.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: At Oliver, and he's told he was an honorable mention, I think he easily is the one guy that I look at on this team that isn't for sure in a top 10, so he, I think, will be on one next year.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think if he stays healthy, I think he'll tell he this past year he's top 10, so I think he's won for sure will be on, and then Dion, I'm not mad that he's not top 10, I could see him being top 10, I get honorable mention, so I really don't think, I mean, even
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: At least it's tough because it's just interior align if it was just centers then yeah you don't I'd bet a hundred percent he'd be in that top 10 so it's just it's tough to kind of look at this they are the bills are getting snob the other this and that.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of change.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of questions.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a lot of guys injured that are our top guys the past year, like at Oliver, even Colby ship battle injuries is rookie year.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's still young, Benford's battle injuries.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: So it's been a weird thing for a lot of these players that I think, even concave, concave, I think we'll be in that top ten as well.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: He's the last one that I'll say.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll be in the top ten next year if you can say healthy because I think as you kind of saw in the honorable mentions, they said, hey, when he's on the field, this offense clicks and he helps us offense immensely, but that's the problem.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: The only two that I think should Benford, I think, should have gotten something in the conversation because he is a damn good corner.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: Bishop, yeah, he's only done it for a year.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: If he has another year next year, like he did this year, I think for sure, will be in that conversation.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: And there's only three centers in the top 10 of the interior linemen, a lot of guards.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: So if it was just the center, one is probably top five, not even top 10, but
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at all over the other one you mentioned, he was playing, maybe the best football of his career in the start of the season before he got hurt.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: So he shows what kind of a force he is when he's out there.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, got to stay healthy.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's got it.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, take those lists with the grain assault, but something to talk about when there's nothing to talk about.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, um, they're always fun.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: So even if the, you know, that's one thing.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you're looking at these lists and they're really making them add they're for fun.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Make your own, you know, make your own put it out there.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: See what people think people are going to be mad at you.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: So that's no matter who puts these list out, somebody's going to be mad.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: Um, all right, before we don't get into talk about the keybie, learn a bit of a group.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to give quick shout out to our sponsors sponsors.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: The first one, a big tree in
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: As you all know, we partner with big tree and every tailgate, every game day will be out there, Scott and Lance are usually out there a little bit earlier than me, which is funny because I do live right next door.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, if you come out and join us this year, it's always a lot of fun that really may is in there.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: And even tonight, if you're still having eaten dinner night at 720, it would be a little bit of a late dinner, maybe you worked late today.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you're still looking for dinner, I believe it is their wing night tonight, so go on in and go get some wings from big tree and they got some great wings there.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: shout out to big tree in our next one up is wing nuts buffalo as you guys know we've done plenty of interviews with players there they're just amazing hospitality both locations are just such a fun spot even if you don't like wings even if you don't like wing nuts wings they sell great fruit out around the cross their menu great atmosphere some really really go check them out
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: if you haven't yet.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_00]: Next up, we got 71 slicks barbershop.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_00]: If you would like, you can get a haircut here, scan the QR code for the cut app.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: It will help you schedule it and get set where I know Lance goes and get all his great haircuts at seven slicks barbershop.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_00]: And then as we mentioned earlier, a week and one, 80, if you'd like to get in contact, and you saw he seen Lance's journey, and you've seen him be able to just have fun with it.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to awaken one, 80, weight loss at that
- 21:13[SPEAKER_00]: All right Scott, QB running back talk.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's a controversial running back room and quarterback room this year, so there's gonna be a lot that we got to type into now.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's, I mean, it's gonna be fun.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to talk quarterback, especially.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I know we got some stuff here.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how much we can get to each one.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: Might even go off on a little tangent.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: So if you guys have questions also about quarterback or about running back or about Josh Allen or James Cook whoever put them in the comments, we'll throw them up there and answer as many as we can.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: So Scott, you want to take a wake quarterback or would you like to run in back?
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it doesn't matter to me, whichever one you don't feel like doing.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, that I was kind of excited to talk quarterback a little bit.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll take it.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, even though, you know, it's something like why would you be excited to talk quarterback?
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: We know who our quarterback is.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's Josh Allen.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we do.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_00]: We know what's going to be.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: We know who the back up's going to be.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be Kyle Allen and we know who the emergency third quarter practice squad quarterback is going to be in that's going to be Blue Shelley.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm Michelle.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: I still go to the state.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: So no, for now.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: So he's done the show.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Blue Shell, Blue Shelley.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, whichever one.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: First though, let's talk about just how much maybe Josh Allen can take his game to another level, maybe now with an offensive mind.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_00]: First time as career was head coach is offensive minded in Joe Brady, so new coach, maybe a new pressure, maybe a little bit less pressure because of it because you don't have trauma dermat there and it's not hanging over your head of like, ah, now you're going into your 10 without winning one.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you think about that dynamic of new coach?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: Is it more pressure to less pressure or kind of different pressure?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's definitely more pressure if nothing else, maybe some of that pressure has shifted.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's no question Joe Brady's under an immense amount of pressure.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: You take over a team that's like right on the doorstep of the Super Bowl with a historically great quarterback that just couldn't get it done and now you're the guy.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: At the end of the day, Joe Brady is not going to be the reason the bill is win the Super Bowl.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Allen will be and the players on the field.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Brady can do everything you can do to put them in the right positions, can make life easy for them and all that good stuff.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, the players and the ones who have to make the plays and it's kind of like, look, Josh, you're the guy, you're the best quarterback in the NFL, voter
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: Something wasn't working.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Clearly, they kept losing in the playoffs and not only did they lose in the playoffs.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: They lost in historic heartbreak fashion every single time.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have other guests, the Bengals, but there was heartbreaking circumstances leading up to it.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like not one playoff loss was just a normal playoff loss.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like every single one.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: probably should have been won by the bills and it wasn't.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: And now, like I just said, if they win the Super Bowl, it's because of the players on the field.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you're losing those games,
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: probably kind of also because of the players on the field.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Something had the change, and it's obviously not going to be Josh Allen.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be the coach.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: And the coach is gone, and I think that probably needed to happen.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Something needed to change, and like I said, is not going to be Josh Allen so that that's all you can really do.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: So now it's like, all right, man.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the coach who've gotten us there, who broke in the drought, and all of those things 10 years ago, is now gone.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: We hired your guy who you wanted to promote,
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then you hired full time because you liked him.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive was really good on paper, but a lot of times if you're watching the games it was I guess underwhelming could be a good word for it and now he's the head coach and everybody that they wanted to fire him last October November now he's the guy call on the shots so.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think there's more pressure on Josh Allen this year than ever.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's in year not.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: He turned 30.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's a dad now.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: And not that that really matters for pressure on the field, but just overall life pressure.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: That, you know, you and I can't imagine because we're not that.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think there's a lot of pressure on Josh Allen.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is a maker break year for him because if it's kind of more of the same old stuff when it gets down to the playoffs, all right.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a new coach like at some point, you know, you got to be the one to make the
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I, I, I, I struggle to say it's more pressure, but I do think that it's, it's, it's accurate to say that because I think, but I do think it's a different type of pressure this year.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's not that, hey, you gotta go get a Super Bowl.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_00]: It is.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can't let this hit the fan and you need to actually like lead this team.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: You need to be the one that is going to lead this team.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to look like maybe a Josh that hasn't you haven't even seen three, two, three years.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_00]: Even though I know we talked before the show, we want to be P2 years ago.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I still think to a lot of bills fans, it's been a little different the past two years, especially with how the offense is looked and how it's kind of look difficult at times.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: And if it looks difficult this year,
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Man, the pressure is going to heat up fast because who knows what this defense is going to look like and if this defense is struggles early and the offense still looks like, oh, I don't know if this is the receiving core, you know, we got this we got we drafted somebody we'd trade it for DJ more or we still have the same running back room you still have the same pretty much online and tax so if they start out slow, yeah, it's going to be a hey Josh what's going on here man like.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: you're now, you know, you're not getting younger.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Is this, is this a sign that maybe we're starting to go towards the downturn?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be conversations that we might start seeing if the offense continues to look.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: hard at times this year.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to question Joe Brady more.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's as even though yes, more pressure is the right word, I think it's more pressure in a different way.
- 27:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the same as the past few years, right?
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm excited to see how he attacks it and especially how Joe Brady handles the pressure to with Josh Allen some coaches might.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: panic and put pressure more pressure on Josh than maybe needs to to Joe Brady takes him off of him and say, hey, we got this.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: He seems like he at least vocally is going to be that way of like, hey, this is much my my fall.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_00]: This is much my my duty as you guys on the field or it's not more.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: But the end of the day it just depends on if there are those struggles, what's it going to sound like, what's it going to be like after the games, what are they going to say, Joe, how is it going to work when it's just struggling for two weeks.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see how he handles the pressure.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll be fine.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Josh and that's been his whole is pressure.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you come in as a.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: Wyoming quarterback that a lot of people thought were overdrafted and you come in, you start sooner than you needed to, which is already pressure enough.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: You start week two of your career when you were told, you might not even start this year.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: We were in week two.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's had pressure on him before, and big moments, and he's come through a lot.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes we, as we know, has not, but you know, that's been football and it's the game of life.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: This question that we hear if I can speak, excuse me, I just had like a stroke.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: The question you have here is one that's really interesting to me because it's solely focused again on Josh.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: And you heard me talk before the show about, man, I really just, I've decided a lot even during the show.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's been something about the offense past years that, yes, I know they lean on their own game, but even though it's, but it looks hard passing the ball.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like Josh isn't comfortable.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: And you've seen it a little bit in the numbers.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: There's been a little less passing yards, a lot less passing touchdowns than in years past this past year, rushing has stayed the same.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you want to see from Josh Allen at the end of the year, you look back and say, well, that was a successful season for Josh Allen.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe even exceeds what you're expecting this year from him.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so what success looks like for Josh Allen this year, I think to me is a Super Bowl, getting or at least getting to a Super Bowl, get out of the AFC.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: And to me, we're kind of past the point of stats and accolades.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about this the other day, someone put in our group chat about how Josh has half a touchdown more in all the games he's played than any other quarterback.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not used to score half a touchdown, but he does half a touchdown more than anybody else.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: And his stats, he has more touchdowns.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: He has the most touchdowns in the NFL since 2016, I saw today.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: He was a sophomore at Wyoming in 2016.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: So like you can go on and on and on.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: He has an MVP, the second team all pros.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: Never been first team all pro.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess that could be an Accolade.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't done before.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: But like he's done them all.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm almost to the point where it's like, they don't matter anymore.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like you have to get farther, as a team, you have to get over that hump that is there because we're getting to the spot where like it,
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: like we talked about like he's not getting any younger either and talked about with Dionne, like he's 30 now.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: He plays a style of football than who knows how long that's super sustainable.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he's really smart and he sees the game really well and he can make all the throws and you have him with his body and his brain will help him when he can no longer make all of the throws, but like he's coming off a broken foot, you know, he had a surgery, so
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: his days of being able to run away from defense players probably are numbered.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of like win another MVP awesome, you know, throw for a career high and touchdowns or yards, which who knows if he will because he used James Cook so much.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like it almost doesn't matter.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like he has all the stats.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's statistically better than other quarterbacks.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: He passes the eye test better than other quarterbacks.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: But he doesn't have the Super Bowl and he hasn't gotten there yet.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost kind of getting to the point where I don't know if anything else really matters.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: So I think success for me is going farther than they've gone before, which is at least getting out of the AFC and Sandra brings up a good point.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: We got to win the division first.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's another good point of it.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't win the division last year.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's not Josh Allen's fault at all.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think they will win the division this year.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: But team accolades, I think, are going to matter more than the visual ones.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because he's kind of done all those.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's tough for me to say what would I would guess what success is because I mean super well, yes, one thing is we've both obviously these success of all successes.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you go and go and NFL is to do that.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: I do want to see and I feel like it's been about four or five games for the past three years that it has looked hard and I want to see less of those games each year.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see maybe one or two.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see Josh Allen with this new
- 32:08[SPEAKER_00]: and with DJ Moore coming in, look like how he did when he had Stefan digs throwing the football.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna see that confidence in throwing the football and not just look like, because there's been a lot of times over the past two years, but sometimes it feels like, because nobody's getting open, he's forcing something, he's panicking in the pocket or not seeing somebody because he's so quick to get out of the pocket, whatever it is, I just feel like something's been off there.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: So for me,
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Success, I'm not sure if it comes in a number or a trophy or anything for Josh this year.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think for him.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: It is that next step in new coach.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to see a slow start.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to see a drop off.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see these weapons him be able to say, Hey, we got these weapons now that we're not slowing down.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to do it.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_00]: We're not the passing games.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not going to be a reason that we lose a game.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: that can't be that.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's been too many games in the past two or three years that we've looked at and said the passing game is the reason that we lost or the reason we struggled to win this game.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I want to see this year as Josh Allen and the offense not.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: look like they're stuck in the mud against a middle-of-the-road defense or a middle-of-the-road team that they should crush or they should beat handily or be able to put points up on the board easily for so that's I guess for me the success and I don't even know if there's really I guess a way that you can measure that there's not it's just more I guess feel for for how you've been watching and what you've been watching
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's tough for me to say what I guess exact success looks like if I had to say number wise I'd love to see him get back to 4,000 passing yards I think he will get back to 4,000 passing yards this year just due to all the changes I think the defense might have a few weeks where they got to get going so he'll have to be forced to throw it.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_00]: Less games where you know he throws of all 10 times against whoever and James Cook just runs all day I think there'll be less games like that.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: So but if they're win by a lot those that's fine It's fine with me.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's completely fine.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'll say that I just think there'll be less of those because of all the changes I think you'll see Josh forced to throw and Them kind of forced their way back especially also because the beginning of the year man is a tough by first five games All schedules pretty tough
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: It is a toll.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the whole schedule is tough, but I mean, those first right games, especially you know how important it is to not start out slow So I guess for me, it's just if I had to put a number of be like 4,000 past years I want to see them get back there.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see them keep the interceptions around 10 and Yeah, we'll see, but You make another one thing.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: I want to touch on the home we go on and you know like the starting slow and games where all fence looks hard and
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's another reason I think they felt like they had to move on from Sean McDermott because if you don't lay a complete egg against a JV football team in the dolphins last year, maybe you win the division and you don't have to go to Denver in the playoffs and lose that way.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, the year before that, if you don't lay a complete egg back to back weeks against the Ravens and the Texans and what you yourselves looked like a JV football team for six
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you don't have to go to Kansas City in January and lose there in a true coin cost game that if that game is in Buffalo, they probably win it like in 2021 where they, you know, they lost in Casey the 13 seconds.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: They were seven and six at one point and maybe if you're not dropping that game to the Colts were Jonathan Taylor ran for 700 yards against us and every year they have one or maybe you don't go to Kansas City and lose 13 seconds because that games in both like every year there's a couple games that you're just like that and that year they lost to Jacksonville six to three nine to three some six nothing something crazy that was in 2021 too.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: So every year there's a couple of games where I don't know what it was.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: but they just aren't the bills and they lose those.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, oh, whatever, it's one game, but that one game has mattered because they've had to go on the road every year in the playoffs.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's equally a reason for moving on from Sean McDermott because those are inexcusable and bringing in Joe Brady in the more pressure, we can't have that anymore and the guy who was responsible for that is gone.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: So another thing, does you mention this low-star, it's just, you know, maybe think of that.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's because I'm weird after officially after all.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_00]: I just said about, you know, starting out starting slow.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much maybe, and this is, well, I'm not actually probably jot this down a lot.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about a different show with Lance, especially of like how much does really matter of getting that one seed and getting the home field for the bills.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of teams have never had it and we've never been to the Super Bowl and we've lost to the team that's had the one seed four times.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_00]: But then we were also ahead games we've had years where we played the bangles at home.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't matter.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like one year the one time.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: But we've had to go all of our other playoff losses have been on the road.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_01]: So clearly you think it's more because you're on a road or because they have to play that extra game tomato potato like if you have that if you don't lose those games, you have like you get the buy and all that happens.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: But like it's I think it's you know it's the same argument.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: If those things don't happen and you don't have to play extra games you don't have to go on there would be it like we lost one play off game at home in this last iteration of bills football
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: we've lost every year on the road in a close game, where we were arguably the better team.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that would be one that, especially, I think, once it starts kind of getting towards middle of this season, I think it's going to be a good topic for us to talk about with Lance and everything and kind of dive into that.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: Especially nine months, we have more answers of how they start and how the division looks, how the Patriots look.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: who else looks hot on the AFC and all that.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think I got about Josh Allen, the QB room.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry you guys, if anybody was really excited to talk Kyle Allen or Shane Bushell today, it's not, we don't really have any questions about them.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'll allow him to switch to the number one requirement and think about quarterback and he's good friends with Josh Allen, same thing with Shane Bushell.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's simple that, but my last thing for quarterback DJ more I mentioned how that's the number of reasons I cannot see Josh Allen have the passing game looking stagnant or I'm just looking like they're struggling it's because he's coming in they brought Skylar Bellon, but DJ more is the big one right how how much
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: will he really help this game?
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: How much pressure will he help take off, Josh?
- 38:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so old shoulders.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: Will it be the same effect?
- 38:37[SPEAKER_00]: Does maybe Stefan digs had or do you think it's maybe not as much, but still enough to to get this passing game going?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it'll necessarily have the same effect as the font digs, because that took Josh Allen from a quarterback boy to a quarterback man.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: People were having conversations about Josh Allen after year one and two of like, is he the guy can he do this and then bang top five quarterback in the NFL almost overnight.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then is that all of the font digs absolutely not, but you can't say he didn't help, but where I think DJ Moore is going to help a lot, he's going to take a lot of pressure off the other receivers.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like not having a true number one receiver.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: curtain more ways than you'd think because the number one corner is now on, you know, not of that caliber wide receiver and the number two corner is on not that caliber wide receiver and they're able to put more guys in the box because they can cover one on one on the outside and that makes it harder for James Cook and Shakira and Concade and they're not getting the matchups that they want.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think DJ Moore is just going to make
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: going to draw a number one corner attention, and he's going to win some of those battles, and then, you know, Guy like Sandra mentioned's key on.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was, you know, better than he's working out with Stevie Johnson, like he's going to get better matchup.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Shakir is going to have the life easier.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: All of her is going to have life easier.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, getting a Guy like DJ Moore, who's a who can win down the field, just, you know, me versus you when I can win, is it's going to help
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, maybe not the number one top 10 NFL live receiver that that people wanted, but those guys don't grow on trees and they rarely become available.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: So DJ Moore was what they got and he's going to help a ton because he's an awesome football player.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you've seen it with a lot of, I mean, a couple of big quarterbacks of the past few years, even without having to hot that number one, when they're not on a field, it's been a struggle sometimes.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: Pack up my homes, right?
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: When was she rice?
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's not on football field.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a struggle since I recill left.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a lot of questions about the wide receiver room in separate rooms.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they want to use them for both.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_00]: They have, they have, but since Tyre kills life, it's been a strong like Travis Kelsey started to decline.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the number one option that's kind of, you know, not been the same.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: So you've seen it with quarterbacks in the league of like you got to get those to that help.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: I will say as well, I do think we'll also help the run game too.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_00]: It will help games cook because of the fact that they'll be looking and say, hey.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: We can't just sell out against the Ron and play man to man and just hope that work good because DJ more than will be the guy that will make you pay.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I heard this point, I believe it was WGR that was talking about when Carmichael and Joe Brady were in New Orleans.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't really have a number one guy until Michael Thomas got there.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_00]: But before that, it was at Marquis Colston.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was, you still had Kamera on the back field.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_00]: You had some solid weapons around, and it was, yeah.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: You had Colston who was kind of to me, maybe a DJ more ask player in style and maybe star level of, well, he's very good.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: but is he that guy.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know yet.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: But what does he do?
- 41:58[SPEAKER_00]: He opens stuff up for everybody else where you saw that same offense where defenses didn't know they said we can't just zone in on one guy because everybody then even though we we've zone in on Colston's going to leave other guys open on one on one.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's DJ more in this offense.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's that guy that will
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: be able to open it up.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: They won't be out maybe even in James Cook in the past game where he gave us in the past game.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be so focused on, okay, we gotta make sure all the receivers are set.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: maybe dump off to the running back will be a little more open because linebackers who corners are dropping a little more focused on their receivers.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_00]: So, yes, it'll make everybody's job easier.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's huge to have.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know some people still are skeptical about D. J. more.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think yes, he will not be Stefan digs of when he was Stefan digs was here.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_00]: He won't be maybe what AJ Brown is or anything like that, even though I saw questions about AJ Brown,
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Top 10 receiver in the league.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now maybe Josh Allen helps turn it into a top 10 receiver.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: this year.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's going to be interesting to see kind of how he helps everybody else out.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: And who benefits the most?
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Kian?
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Shakir?
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Dalton concade?
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there's so many guys now that you can say, ah, they're going to benefit.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: Joey, Joey says where's the third person?
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: Lance is unfortunately not here this week.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: He is on a little trip.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately, it won't be triple coverage for the next few weeks, Joey.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, I'll be back though next time.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I do a kind of a career with Joey.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's a one B. Yeah, like that, but that I think is good enough for this offense.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's perfectly fine for this offense.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's good for Josh Allen.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you have enough talent elsewhere on the offense.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you don't necessarily need that one A.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_00]: So, um, but that's all I got for QB room running back room.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_00]: You want to take that over?
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely so running back from kind of more of the same with the QB room with the same three running backs running it back for the third year in a row, you know, kind of the if it ain't broke don't fix it model obviously have their horse 20 25 rushing champ in James Cook who is back on his shiny new contract kicking in next year.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: Ty Johnson, who's kind of the Swiss Army knife, third downback, kept them all out of the backfield, can block and also run the ball when you didn't do.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: And Ray Davis, who was probably where we'll spend the most time talking of third year in the league.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: He showed some signs.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, first team all pro last year is a returner.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's made some big plays and stepped in in a couple spots where he had to play big snaps for James Cook.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: when he got James Cook, it's tough for anybody else to really get their carries.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: And he's been, I wouldn't say super vocal this offseason with, you know, saying he wants the ball more, but you know, he's made a couple of comments and it's no secret.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like Gray Davis wants the ball more.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you can't say that he hasn't done things to show that he deserves it.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome that they have these three guys back here.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're all solid football players and they all do different things well And they complement each other really well, which is which is great, but I want to as well get right into it with the big dog James Cook Like I said rushing title last year
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: double digit touchdowns past two years in a row, maybe even the third one I should have pulled up his stats.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, he's a stud, but what are ways you're looking to see more from him this season?
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's tough to say a lot of areas where he can improve because he's just that good, but you know, where do you want to see him?
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: Use more, what do you want to see different improve from James Cook this year?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see the fumbles come down.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's the number one thing.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I still not super worried though that it's going to be like a yearly thing for him.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't think that it will be a major issue this year.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that now villagers have no fumbles.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'll have you, you know, you, you, you're a number one guy.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's bound to happen here and there.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's the NFL.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: These are professional players on the other side that can make plays.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: So it will happen.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see it clean up a little bit.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, before the way I talk against about my realistic expectation for him, I do want to say it is funny that Third year in a row it's the same running back room.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like in the NFL nowadays running back some recycled so much that It's kind of rare to see that All three of them and I like all three of them even though I think Ty Johnson might be kind of getting a little older He might not be the guy that he once was his first year here But you know, Ray Davis.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited about but James Cook
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see as the fumbling come down so that's the first thing I want to see him fix and the other thing that I want to see Joe Brady do is I want to see him getting involved more in the passing game and not just screens.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to see screens with them.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see out the flat.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see, you know,
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: I, the one reason even over this offseason that I was really intrigued about like a Mike McDaniel is because of that.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: I liked seeing how he gets in, gets them involved in the passing game and I just would like to really see.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_00]: that aspect of his game take another step and him really insert himself not only as oh I'm really one of the best runners in this league running the football I want to see him come out and say no I'm one of the best all around backs in this league because when you think about those top tier backs when you think of Christian McCaffee when you think of B. Jean Robinson, Jamir Gibbs
- 47:30[SPEAKER_00]: They're great at running football, but what really sets them apart is when they get involved in the passing game.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: B. John Robinson can take any ball that is thrown to him out of the backfield to the house.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: Premier Gibbs, we've seen him do it.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, more calfry, it seems like the past two or three years.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's still solid at running the ball, but the thing that makes him elite is that aspect of he's going to get eight to ten cutters a game.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't want to see James Cook get eight to ten cutters a game.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: That worry me if he's getting that.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I would like to see two to four times a game really get them involved and just you know keep them in that that keep them as an option passing game are often so that that's my my expectations for them is just to really
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the fumble's thing is huge because we thought that that problem was kind of solved.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, his first year as the main running back, he fumbled three times in 2023.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, oh, is that going to be an issue?
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then 2024, one fumble.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, cool, problem solved.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then last year's six, and a huge fumble in the playoff game.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, fumble done his first career character in that Thursday night game.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh boy, like is this going to be a thing in the last year's sixth?
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: and the fumble against the Broncos when they were walking down the field to go up 14 nothing and honestly probably put that game away.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to say that in the first quarter of a football game but they marched right down the field and scored.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: They were marching right down the field again and then bang fumble game flip and it's like our shit like.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: or better than this team, but we're playing with our food basically.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: And that was the theme of the whole game.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_01]: They're hitting up all over five times, and they still came down to that close.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other thing with James Cook was, oh, how do you pay your running back who only plays 50% of the snaps?
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, can he get that many carries and wills body hold up?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it will.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: He had 80 more carries last year than he'd ever had before in one the rushing title, and he didn't slow down one bit.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree with you.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to see him in the passing game, and it feels like we can say in it like a broken record over the last few off seasons, because
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: He'll show signs in the the 2024 chiefs game in the regular season.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: He runs that he runs a seam route from the slot receiver spot and he catches the touchdown.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: It looks so smooth.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a wide receiver out there, but then, you know, he had the drops dropped a couple touchdowns in 2024.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: don't really remember a ton of drops from him last season, but I don't know if they threw it to him as much because he was carrying the ball so often that when, you know, was maybe a throw to running back situation, that's kind of a tie Johnson's for.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I would also like to see him get more involved in the passing game.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to see him a little bit better as a blocker.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's something that I think he's been working on because that was why, you know, 2024, AFC championship game against the chiefs, hey, why isn't James Cook on the field?
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's been our best player today in two-minute drill.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, can't really block and tie Johnson can.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, see you more on that and just kind of,
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: you hit it, right on the head, you know, become more of a complete running back, like some of those other guys you mentioned, you know, work on the fumbles and do the dirty work.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_01]: The stuff that maybe isn't as fun, scoring touchdowns, but, you know, it's what the top guys do.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, and James Cook is a stud and happy that he's here for four more seasons.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: And at this point, it's just, you know, working on those little things.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: I do think as well, I think he, like he said, he shun signs of being able to be receiving back.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: He has, like, one of the biggest moments of last year, I know it was the first game of the season, but one of the, I, I'll never forget it.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: I believe it was the Ravens game for nothing.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: Correct me from wrong.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: when they're making the comeback he had a huge catch and run that double scored but didn't but still like it he can make those play so i just i really would love to see it so we'll see though if he if they do involve him more i feel like if you're dreams cook you should be saying at least in those big spots i need to be on that photo
- 51:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, agree with you.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, there's no question what we're going to get from James Cook.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: Next season, he's going to be a stud.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move along to the next guy in the packing order.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: And that's Ray Davis.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: He wants more touches.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's deserved them.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen what he can do in the return game.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: He was in all pro last season at one point.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: It was in December.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was like when did Ray Davis become Devon Hester.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: So like every time they kicked the tune, we were getting it at the 40 at least.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a playmaker.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: What are some ways we can maybe get him involved and do you see him having a bigger role in this offense with a lot of mouths to feed in the backfield and be talked about wanting to pass the ball more because there's DJ more.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: Where does he kind of fit it?
- 52:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny because last year Ray Davis going into last year was like, okay, is he going to be on the team after this year, like, is he a guy that we're going to really use because all you said it wasn't you don't really see many flashes before this past year and then the return game and then.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's towards the end of the year has some runs where like, whoa, like, he's that fast.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, he's, he can do that, like, where, where's this band?
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, he did.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: Where's it, Ben?
- 52:46[SPEAKER_00]: I would though, like, to see him more involved.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: I, I've been somebody who's always been, like I said, I've been back and forth on.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't really known, but I'm excited, I think that he can, I think now he is officially taken over that number two spot.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like going in the last year was, it was that conversation of like, is it still Ty Johnson as that number two?
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: Is it going to be Ray Davis?
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think he needs to get more touches.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to see him.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's tough because we don't know what type of even running back he necessarily is.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like, yeah, we do
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's not really a power guy.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: He's not really like a speedster, but he's shown signs that he can make it happen and they open field obviously with kick returning and in the passing game.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think for him, I actually would like to see him in the screen game a little bit because of the fact that you know, I feel like kick returning, you gotta read your box.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_00]: And you gotta read him fast, a lot of moving parts.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of how screens are.
- 53:46[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of moving parts, guys coming in, trying to make plays.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I'd like to see him maybe in the screen game and then I would like to see him in between tackles more I think if he when he hits a hole you saw a few times last year when he hits a whole man he hits it hard and he is going to burst through that hole and so I'd like to see him in between the tackles a little bit I really would maybe him be that number two when James Cook needs to break.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_00]: get him the ball a little bit, I do think yes, Joey, he will return kicks.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think unless somehow he comes out and looks terrible, but I mean, he was an all-pro returner last year.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think he got to have him.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_00]: The big question I will say, I guess, maybe is pot returning.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's a pot returner necessarily, maybe this year they do try it out there a little bit, but I'd like to see him continue as kick returner.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think, yes, Joey, that he should stay as kick returner and I'd like to see in between tackles a little bit more
- 54:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he, he made some plays in the passing game as Rick here.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: He had that in the Tyler Bass 61 yard fieldville game against the Dolphins.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: He had like a 75 yard pass that, you know, he took to the house.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_01]: That was like a two yard pass.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: He just made the point.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then in the judge game, he had that catch down field on the Monday night game when James Cook was out.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_01]: He made a great catch.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, he can do it all.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: But he had his, his usage, like basically cut in half, I see.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_01]: Carries went from 113 as a rookie to 58 last year.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: Caches went from 17 to 10 and his yardage and both ways basically got cut in half as well.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, he's kind of found that role as kick returner.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_01]: So like it's no question he's going to be on the team.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like they're not looking for, you know, somebody else.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like he has his spot carved out at least.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: But like he's a playmaker.
- 55:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I think they would be who of the bills to find ways to get him the ball more.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I could see I don't know if 300 plus carries is realistic for James Cook again this season.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_01]: So you know, maybe 25 of those can go right day if it's his way.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I would like to see him get more involved because he's a playmaker.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like it's oh, he showed Flash is no, in the NFL he he makes plays.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I mentioned I mentioned the same's a little bit of go and he car my goal and just
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: that how the way maybe even Sean Payne's trees likes to play.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of two running backs that you've seen over the years in New Orleans.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: You saw Mark England and Camaro.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: You saw it, Jamal Williams and Camaro.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: in Denver when Carmichael was there, it's really been two running backs a lot of the time that they like to utilize.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_00]: Now, do I think they'll utilize it, you know, as much as Denver did last year, you know, maybe even how much they did with, with Jamal Williams and, and, uh, and marking or mainly in New Orleans.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't think that who have that type of role as the number
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think that he'll be a heavy part in his offense or important part in his offense and in a lot of crucial moments.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: All I remember about Jamal Williams and New Orleans was the he scored the James Winston fake knee touchdown.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: And the last game of the season because Jamal Williams hadn't scored any touchdowns yet that year.
- 56:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, I know it feels like.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_00]: It feels weird because it's like, uh, it's always been Camaro is, you know, that the utilization running back will be the passing game will be a little bit in running game, but.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: than that second back is that power going to go in the goal line.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to be that guy.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know if James Cook or Ray Davis, either of them are really, are they really goal line guys?
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think James Cook or anything.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_00]: Even if anything though, I think James Cook would be the goal line guy.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he has no problem.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like he doesn't really, like he can score from the one yard line.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_01]: That was all.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't hate if Ray Davis and Ty Johnson took over like that role of the passing game running back
- 57:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah, you mentioned him, you know, Tajans and there, do you think his role changes at all?
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he'd third down back, a little bit last last year with James Cook just becoming the player that he is, we know he can catch the ball out of the back field, we know he can block, he returns kicks as well, he's back there with Ray, so see anything different for him this season, you know, maybe a little less as he gets older, Ray Davis takes some more stuff away,
- 58:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be the same Ty Johnson we've seen for the last few seasons.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: He knows his role.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's, you know, third running back.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: It makes plays one as numbers call.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't necessarily think his role will change, but I think you touch on it.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_00]: It will be less.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_00]: And it will continue to get less.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think you could see maybe it be a raid Davis type of cut and cut in his touches this year.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: It, but it just depends on raid Davis as well.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_00]: Like if raid Davis struggles, then now it might even go up for Ty Johnson.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't anticipate that though.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: I do think Ray Davis will come in and solidify himself as that number two this year and be a guy that says wants more touches.
- 58:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll prove that he should get a little bit more touches.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so I don't think necessarily will change.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think those roles will still understand that this is what I got to do.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_00]: I got to make plays when my numbers call.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_00]: I got to help on the passing game.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that that's his role.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I'll be the same this year, so no, I don't really think we'll change necessarily as much as we'll lessen.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, he has brought up in the comments.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll mention, Frank Ward Jr.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: Still there.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_01]: Gonna be the practice squad back unless someone poaches him, but kind of feels like if they wanted to, they would have by now.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: Guy, he's kind of been here, keeping the camaraderie same room.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, he's back as well.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_01]: And in the last thing, we got it in the comments from John.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about it a little bit last week.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: Regigillium is moved on.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_01]: He signed with the Patriots.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_01]: He really do hate to see it for a bunch of reasons, but Ben Van Summren is here who was with the Eagles last year got hurt on the opening kickoff of the NFL season like not just of you know
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: The team, the opening kick off of the NFL season, blows out his knee, he's out for the season, and then they picked up Jackson Acre, a UDFA out of Wisconsin, and Wisconsin, if there anything, they're full back and running back you.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, the key was being used there.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that they keep a full back, and if they do, which one of those guys, do you think you'd give the leg up to?
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_00]: I do think they keep one.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think you've seen it's it's even though Reggie necessarily, you know, you might not see him on the field of ton and you didn't know, wasn't involved in having to make plays a ton.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_00]: He still was an important part of the soft ends when it came to the touchbushers and
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_00]: and being able to block and everything like that.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, I do think they keep one even though or I know this office isn't our least office, isn't we floated the idea out there?
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what if they just kind of say, hey, Jackson Haas, do you want this to be your part of your job now, too?
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's silly.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_01]: They will thank you for the job that wants.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's the thing with that.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like you kind of probably want the full back and Jackson Hall's on the field same time.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so it did.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's an option.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I do think they will keep him as between the two.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: Even my prediction is as good as the coin toss.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's I have not a clue about brilliant either of these guys too much.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think it will be just whoever is better training camp really and.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like I said, I'm not exactly a.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_00]: I don't necessarily watch film on fullbacks.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the one thing I will say that I lack in.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_00]: I know that there are, I will say part of the fullback club I do love fullbacks.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_00]: Keep fullbacks.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_01]: Really hot.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: Keep them great.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I don't necessarily watch college or non-topped to your fullback highlights as much as I do top to your fullback.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_00]: So that I will say I'm lack in there.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even top to your fullbacks.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, even though he's still, he's still inside.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Ricardo was want even though he's towards the down.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he did.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:49[SPEAKER_00]: He did sign with him.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_00]: Um, even though he's kind of numb more towards the end of his career as well.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's getting towards the end there.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, huge check, but he's also another guy that's getting towards towards the downturn of his career.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_00]: Gilliam was up there as well for a little while.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um,
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, how many teams even have fullbacks nowadays?
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like there's only a handful.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's only what probably 10.
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're coming back.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: They don't just always start because the run games started to come back, right?
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: They were kind of the curve a little bit on that that they said we're going to make sure we're running the ball.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, fullbacks are slowly making a comeback.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'd love to see it.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_00]: but not fully there yet.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to keep a fullback.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: You have no reason to think that they won't, because it's Joe Brady's offense.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_01]: And we've seen three years of Joe Brady's offense and each one of those years, they've had a fullback.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_01]: And fullbacks can usually play all six special teams as well.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you need them to, and that's huge,
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I don't really think there's much merit to the idea of Jackson Hall is just kind of being like an H-back hybrid.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, because a lot of times when the full backs on the field, you also want Jackson Hall's on the field for his blocking ability.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I just don't think that would make a ton of sense unless they're really strapped for space, but then.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_01]: who becomes a blocking tight end, is that knocks?
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do they just not go full?
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think that change is a lot of things.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_01]: I had to pick one right now.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think it'd be van Summerin, just he has NFL experience, as long as his knee is good.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_01]: Platella's aren't as easy to come back from as ACLs, they're not as common of an injury.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_01]: They're not, they're not fun.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of a few I haven't done, so knock on what I never find out.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if I had to pick, I'd say the guy with experience, but yeah, whoever has a better camp will get the job, neither ones coming in as any kind of incumbent or anything like that.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so, you know, make fullbacks great again, like you said, you got anything else on anything else, or you know, you've got a little over and now or get to get the people out of here and you know, you've got to get up really at one end for the British open, excuse me, the open
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, that's won't be for me exactly, but, uh, T-shirt, um, yeah, I got nothing else really.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they're running back room quarterback room.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_00]: There's only so much really, I guess you can say, I am more excited though this year to see both rooms now that it is fully Jill Brady's team to see kind of if any of that changes for how Josh plays and how they're running back through utilized and, you know,
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: See if the offense how much different the offense looks in terms of how they still gonna be the driving force Obviously Josh Allen will still be the driving force of this offense, but will it be the bad the maker break of this offense?
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_00]: Will it be just to these two rooms need to be the guys again for this offense to work?
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_00]: So Interest to see if maybe Joe Brady can help him take pressure off of both rooms
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_01]: We got a stud quarterback.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: We got a stud running back to good spots at the, and we'll keep making our way through the position groups next week, and we got training camp in two weeks.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we more excited things to talk about.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, and again, shout out to our sponsors, big tree in, if you haven't gotten dinner yet, still go get some wings to their wing night, so they do have discounted wings tonight wing nuts.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you want wings on the tomorrow and you got big train big tree today, you can get wing nuts tomorrow.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_00]: You can do both.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_00]: So you can always go there if you just look for a good time.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then everyone's like barbershop if you look for a haircut go there if you're you guys see Lance every time he's on the show Yeah, he's always looking fresh with his hair cut there.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_00]: So if you want a great haircut go to seven one.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like barbershop And then wake one 80 you've also seen Lance on his way.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's a wake one 80 weight loss journey He's lobbed it.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's at a great time with it easy simple Not not something that is a burden.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_00]: So if you if you
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_00]: are looking to lose weight, go add to a weight-con-weight-eating weight loss down.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_01]: It sounds like you want to look like Lance.
- 1:05:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_00]: You want to look like Lance, just go to all four of those places.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_01]: Be your haircut at 7-1 slicks, eat chicken wings at these places, but not too many.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, that's going to do it for us though.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I unfortunately about the next two weeks.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: Well, next week is still up in the air.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_00]: It might be doing it from the airport if I am of a able to, but we shall see.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, but either way, if not, I'll be back in two weeks.
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_00]: Scott will be here though next week with Lance.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: And, uh, yeah, uh, everybody I hope you guys have a great night and, uh, go bills.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_00]: Go bills?
