  When persecution comes, how to stand strong. You know, right now we're in a

  time of peace in some areas.

  Maybe you're not where you are, but there's always a time where government is

  kind of at peace or people are at rest or whatever.

  But that Jesus said, unfortunately, that we're going to face persecution.

  And I think it's really important to kind of strengthen you.

  It's like, I want to be the water to your roots, your plant,

  you're rooted, and I'm just watering you today. So thank you for listening.

  So I want to talk to you today about what if following Jesus actually cost you

  something? What if people don't clap when you quote scripture?

  What if they don't like your conviction? What if they talk against you?

  Well, if you're me, that already happens.

  Jesus never promised us a life where everybody's going to love us.

  He promised us eternal life, Holy Ghost, power, and victory.

  So we're going to talk about three things that a Christian can do when persecution
• 1:37
  comes, because persecution won't destroy real faith.

  So welcome to The Hacks, where we talk Bible truths, practical, real life.

  Today's topic is heavy, but it's not meant to make you afraid.
• 1:48
  It's made to make you strong and ready. Come on.

  Because the Bible says in 2 Timothy 3.12, you that live godly will suffer persecution.

  Not you might, but you're going to. Now, let me get this straight.

  Persecution is not a disease. So if you're sitting here thinking,

  oh God, I'm gonna get sick. That's not what I'm talking about.

  That's not persecution.
• 2:07
  Someone might not like you. You could get fired. You might go to jail,
• 2:10
  that kind of stuff. That's persecution.

  Godly hack number one. Y'all ready? You ready? You ready? I know you are.

  Get rooted before the pressure hits. It's time to build your faith, not when the fire comes.

  Look, the time to get insurance is not when you're sick. The time to get your
• 2:25
  house set up for in case there's a fire is not in the middle of the fire. That's too late.

  It's like with soldiers in America, we put them in boot camp before the battle.
• 2:34
  You know that, right? Like, tell me you know that. We don't say,
• 2:37
  oh crap, there's a battle. Let's start training. No, we train our soldiers before.

  Navy SEALs, I just saw, my husband likes to watch all this weird crap,
• 2:45
  but I just saw how Navy, if you're listening to me and you're a Navy SEAL,
• 2:48
  you are the bomb diggity.

  But I saw how they trained Navy SEALs. Some of the SEALs died in training,

  but it's like rigorous. It's hard.

  It's insane. Many people quit before they even finish. Then even when they finish,

  then there's more training, harder training.

  These are some tough guys, both.

  I don't know if there's any female SEALs? That'll be interesting to see.

  Probably not, because I'm telling you, let me see if there's,

  I don't think there is. Hold on, let me see.

  Are there any female Navy SEALs?

  I just don't think there are. Nope. There are no female Navy SEALs. That's right.

  Cause a chick, I don't care how tough. I don't care if you think you're a she-he.

  You ain't gonna, we're just not tough enough for that. Sorry,

  ladies, but we're not. And I'm good with it. So when they train,

  they train hard before the battle.

  They don't, they don't drop a Navy SEAL in a compromising position and go,

  oh, train while you're down there.
• 3:41
  No, they train them ahead of time. So that's what's happening to you.

  You're getting trained ahead of time.

  Jesus said that people who receive the word with joy, but have no roots.
• 3:48
  In Mark 4, 16, those are likewise sown on stony ground when they've heard the
• 3:54
  word and immediately receive it with gladness, but don't have roots.
• 3:57
  They endure for a time, but afterwards with affliction, they're offended.
• 4:02
  So the Bible says persecution comes for the word's sake. So now you know why
• 4:05
  it's coming. It's coming because of the Bible that you read. All right.

  So here's a godly hack. Get rooted now. Don't wait till your faith is challenged
• 4:12
  to decide what you believe.
• 4:14
  Don't wait until your kids are confused to teach them the Bible.
• 4:17
  Teach them the Bible now.
• 4:20
  Psalm 119 11 is the theme verse for what I'm telling you here.
• 4:23
  Your word I hide in my heart that I might not sin against you.
• 4:27
  Take the word of God and put it in your heart. And when something bad comes,
• 4:31
  you won't sin against him because it's in there already.
• 4:35
  Already. Say that word already out loud. You need to be more than a cute coffee
• 4:39
  mug that says you're blessed.
• 4:40
  You need to have the word of God, the effective, powerful, mighty word of God
• 4:44
  shooting out of your mouth.
• 4:45
  Because when persecution comes, shallow Christians, you're going to collapse.
• 4:50
  But a rooted Christian will stand.
• 4:52
  Persecution does not create weak roots. It just exposes them.
• 4:56
  So this week on Godly Hacks, it's simple.

  Get rooted in the word before pressure hits. Read it, speak it,

  memorize it, obey it, because you can't stand on a Bible that you don't know,
• 5:07
  my friend. All right, Godly Hack 2.

  Y'all ready? Doing good. Pray for boldness, not popularity. When the early church
• 5:14
  was threatened, they didn't say, hey, God, make everybody like us.
• 5:18
  Hey, God, make it easy. Hey, God, give me lots of followers.
• 5:21
  No, they said, Lord, don't make it comfortable. They didn't pray, God, remove the critic.
• 5:25
  They prayed this in Acts 4.18.
• 5:28
  They called on them and commanded them not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus,
• 5:32
  but, here's that word again, but, but Peter and John answered and said,
• 5:35
  whether it's right in the sight of God to listen to you more than God,
• 5:40
  you judge, but we cannot help but speak the things that we've seen and heard. Come on. I love that.
• 5:45
  They basically said, you can't tell us what to do. It's pretty much what they
• 5:49
  said. You can't tell me what to do. I do what God says to do.
• 5:54
  So then after they were threatened, they went back and they said,
• 5:57
  Lord, in Acts 4.29, Lord, give us, behold their threatenings and grant to your
• 6:03
  servants with all boldness that we would speak the word.
• 6:05
  And when they prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled.
• 6:09
  They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
• 6:14
  Notice what happens. They were threatened, but they prayed. They were filled
• 6:17
  and then they spoke with boldness.
• 6:19
  So not threatened and offended and silent, not threatened and angry,
• 6:23
  incarnal. Sometimes I do that.
• 6:25
  But not scared and threatened in hiding, but threatened, pray, filled, bold.
• 6:32
  If you get threatened, you pray, you get filled, and you get bold. All right?
• 6:36
  The early church did not ask God for comfort. They asked God for courage.
• 6:40
  So when persecution came, they weren't looking for popularity.
• 6:44
  So you have to pray, Lord, fill me with the Holy Ghost. Lord, make me courageous.
• 6:49
  Lord, help me to speak truth with love. Lord, help me to obey you more than and I fear them.
• 6:54
  Understand that's what you pray. All right.

  Well we are clipping along here today godly hacks three stand firm without becoming hateful,

  ah this is where we have to be careful persecution doesn't give us permission

  to become hateful opposition doesn't give us permission to be bitter being hated

  doesn't give me permission to hate back jesus said in john 15 if the world hates you

  know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world,
• 7:28
  they would love their own.
• 7:29
  Remember the word that I said, a servant is not greater than his master.
• 7:33
  Jesus also said in Matthew 5, this I say, love your enemies,
• 7:37
  bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you.
• 7:40
  You know why Jesus said that? So some people say, well, that's for your enemies. No, it's not.
• 7:44
  The reason that Jesus said, love your enemies and bless them is because you're
• 7:49
  made in the image of God, which is love.
• 7:51
  And if you start getting bitter and hate and stuff, your body starts falling
• 7:55
  up, You get diseases and sicknesses, and ain't nobody got time for that.

  So, excuse me while I slurp my water. If you're watching on YouTube, you can see that.

  But we got to stay healthy, amen, and not full of bitterness, anger, and resentment.

  We tell the truth, but we don't become cruel. We refuse to bow,

  but we don't lose our love of God.

  If you look at Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the story of Daniel 3.17,
• 8:19
  they said, if it be so, our God that we serve is able to deliver us.
• 8:23
  But if not, let it be known to you, O king, we're not going to serve your gods. They were respectful.
• 8:31
  But they were also unmovable. They didn't say, you're a scumbag.
• 8:33
  They don't do what I do. You're a scumbag.
• 8:35
  We don't know. They didn't do any of that. They weren't hateful.
• 8:38
  They weren't hysterical. They just were not bowing.
• 8:40
  They said, God is able, but even if he doesn't, I'm not going to serve your God. This is backbone.

  This is faith. This is what not only the church in America needs,
• 8:49
  but the church in your country, whatever country you're from, you need this.
• 8:52
  We can love people deeply and still refuse to bow to them.
• 8:57
  When persecution comes, don't allow the enemy to make you bitter.

  Don't let the culture make you compromise. Don't let pressure.
• 9:05
  Stand firm. Walk in love. Tell the truth. Keep your spirit right.

  So here are the three godly hacks when persecution comes. Number one,
• 9:14
  get rooted before the pressure hits.
• 9:18
  Number two, pray for boldness, not popularity.
• 9:22
  Number three, stand firm without becoming hateful. Because Christian,
• 9:27
  you were not born for easy times. You were born for this generation.
• 9:30
  Amen. You were born to carry the name of Jesus. And the Bible says in Matthew
• 9:34
  5, Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
• 9:40
  Blessed are you when men revile and persecute you.
• 9:43
  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad. Great is your reward in heaven.
• 9:48
  Come on, if you have any kind of persecution that you're dealing with,
• 9:51
  like any kind whatsoever, the Bible says that you are blessed. Isn't that good news?

  You're blessed in the city, blessed in the field, blessed coming in and coming
• 10:00
  out. God still works through His people. We do not fear lions.
• 10:04
  God shuts the mouth of the lions. We do not fear threats.
• 10:08
  God fills His church with boldness.
• 10:11
  Persecution might be coming, but so is power. And pressure might increase, but so is the anointing.
• 10:17
  And even if it gets darker, the church will become brighter.
• 10:21
  Jesus is still on the throne and he is still Lord.
• 10:24
