- 0:00Mine. As we show I playing a band called Luca Brazi. We are
- 0:03kicking off our tour with our best mates in Spanish love songs in a few
- 0:07weeks. I'm here to chat about how excited I am about it. You
- 0:11heard it from Thanks for joining us today, mister, I love it.
- 0:15I'm pumped. So as you mentioned, wrote Luca Brassi, you will surely
- 0:20commence the World Don't Owe You Anything album for starting in camera on May to
- 0:24fifteenth. They're going through Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast
- 0:28and Sydney before finishing a Newcastle on Made the twenty fifth. Like, it's
- 0:31a pretty extensive run of shows, bro, Yeah, man's so nicely.
- 0:35I was going to play places that don't get got to as much as they
- 0:39should, so it's nice to go back to those towns. You know,
- 0:42we come from Tazzy quite often. Back in the day, those you know
- 0:46Tazzy didn't get all these tours, so it's nice to go and play those
- 0:49sort of places too. Hey, col it's probably a bit bigger run of
- 0:52shows than what you'd normally do. Bro. So is there anything anything especially
- 0:56you're going to be doing so mentally and physically prepare or you're just going to
- 0:58be sicking. Lots of peers. I'm going to try to sink less piss,
- 1:02so bloody don't try and enable me. Chris, I been the singer,
- 1:07been the singer. My goal is kick your battles these days. I've
- 1:11got to be smart about it, and it's easy to say and hard to
- 1:15do. I'll back you until you get your brids, but anyway, but
- 1:19I love it, mate, I love it. Nah, just trying to
- 1:23learn their songs again. You know, it's been a license we've got to
- 1:26ur. So you do your gig fitness a bit. So we're the Cobbs
- 1:30the first few shows and then really get stuck in the record nice as the
- 1:34name suggests, you're at on the back of last year's album, The World
- 1:37Don't Owe You Anything. So how was the reception of that one? That
- 1:41it was awesome? It was so nice to put out a record and to
- 1:45get that sort of response back from it. You know, we had about
- 1:47our first record a few years. You know, things kind of had changed
- 1:52a bit in the band. You know, everyone gets bloody older, unfortunately,
- 1:55but you know, we kind of realign the way we wanted to do
- 1:57stuff. We made the record at home, we recorded ourselves, did it
- 2:01the way we wanted to do it. We wanted to kind of play,
- 2:06you know, some more. I mean we're not never been a heavy band,
- 2:08but to get back into some more sort of punk sort of roots it
- 2:10is nice too, yeah, col And that was your sixth studio album,
- 2:15Mate, So where do you rate it amongst the others? Like if you
- 2:17got a list of favorites to least favorites, so I reckon, I'd put
- 2:23it probably number I have to say, it's got to be number two,
- 2:28Yeah, right, two out of six? What's beeding it? I think?
- 2:34I think there's a place in my heart for our third record called if
- 2:38This is All We're going to be, because that's the one where we started
- 2:40to see things kick off, you know, the first time went overseas,
- 2:45the first time hearing a lot of those songs in the radio, and to
- 2:47watch that many people come to our shows, so that there's a real lot
- 2:50of cent mental value attached to that album for sure. Now, speaking of
- 2:53all the albums in the catalog, Mate, like how do you reckon?
- 2:58The band sound has changed your groin from your debut Extended Family in twenty and
- 3:01eleven to the world. Man. So like when we started this band,
- 3:06we didn't even mean to be a band. We had no idea what the
- 3:07hell we're doing. None of us now to write songs. We still don't,
- 3:09obviously, but like we we just try to write ten songs for extended
- 3:14family enough to put out a record, And it was all just like ripping
- 3:15off every band we loved as kids, all those pipe bands. And then
- 3:21we put out another record, which is kind of like feeling our way a
- 3:23bit further. And I think just from then it's been like refining what we're
- 3:27actually trying to do and knowing enough about songwriting to actually figure that out rather
- 3:30than just bashing out ten songs to get together. All right? So I
- 3:34would you say, as a band made like you've actually found using your identity
- 3:37it or are you still experimenting and searching. I think we're getting closer.
- 3:42Man. You find phases you put out a song or something, think we're
- 3:46trying to do something that you know reached too far for something wasn't there.
- 3:50But I feel like we're kind of getting back to what we want to do
- 3:52now for sure. Do you find it like as as you put more albums
- 3:55out and you get more popular, I guess that you sort of lose focus
- 3:59to that a little bit where you want to go musically, and you sort
- 4:00of start Yeah, definitely, man, you see that in the bands all
- 4:03the time. But I feel like, you know, we just we're back
- 4:08to kind of just wanting to put out music that we like to do.
- 4:12We were trying really hard for a while there to find exactly what worked for
- 4:15us better. But I feel like we've kind of been through that phase and
- 4:18come outside. Yeah. How every press release I've ever read about you guys
- 4:23always refers to you as a bunch of mates, Like how important is that
- 4:27being in your success? Like just the fact that you can all get on
- 4:30and not kill each other. Fucking mate, that's that's that's the only reason
- 4:33is to get to this band, because getting the hangout still means a lot
- 4:36to us. You know, I went to kindergarten with part who plays you
- 4:40tie in the band fucking thirty one years ago. So we're pretty good.
- 4:46You know, we're on tour and someone's tired, you just let that person
- 4:48alone for the day, and no one takes it fucking too personally because we
- 4:51know each other well enough to go. Look fuck off, mate, I
- 4:54fucking break right. Yeah, that's that's it, man, Like, we
- 4:59just we know each other well enough. That's just how it goes. But
- 5:03I think the best thing is we're still just excited to see each other at
- 5:05the airport. You know, that's just it's the chance to hang out.
- 5:08It's a buddy awesome just as excited to wave goodbye when you get aimed too,
- 5:12though I'll be sometimes yes, starts off very positive and nah mate,
- 5:17like I said, like we know well enough to go. Just give me
- 5:20a fucking break right now, or I'm going to wind dug as much as
- 5:23possible. People out there who might not have seen you guys before, Like
- 5:29what can fans expect from your live shows? Like he's a pretty pretty full
- 5:31on and I know you get into it. Ah, that's the thing man,
- 5:35Like I said, it was just so excited to be on tour,
- 5:38so like as soon as you without that first thing on stage, it's like,
- 5:41fuck, I'm happy to be here. And I feel like we're a
- 5:43time in our lives where the way the music industry is too, Like we're
- 5:46gratefully able to play shows at all. It's a privilege you'll be able to
- 5:47get on stage and the fucking smile that gets to my face and I walk
- 5:50on that stage, mate, so genuinely excited older men now that are in
- 5:58sweat and sweat and swear and have a few beers and just have a good
- 6:01time. Mate. It's all I ever wanted to do. Now. You
- 6:04mentioned before, but you bringing with the La outfit Spanish love songs, so
- 6:08tell us be more about them, mate. We have been makes those guys
- 6:13for a while, just through the Internet, the magic fucking Instagram. Always
- 6:16love their music, just chatting on them off. They put out a record
- 6:19a few months ago called No Joy, which we loved and it just timed
- 6:23really well with getting him on this tour. We're pretty similar in what we
- 6:27want to do with the Ethos as a band sonically thematically, they write off
- 6:30some music. We're pretty excited that spend this much time with them. Cool?
- 6:33And what's next for Luca Brassey after this run of shows? Mate?
- 6:36You got plans for anything else? Are you going to take a bit of
- 6:39time? Mate? We started We've started writing songs again. Somehow every time
- 6:43it gets this point, how the fuck are we back here again? It
- 6:46just happened. Someone to put a riff up in the band chat and I
- 6:49think, fuck not again. And here we go again, mate, like
- 6:55it begins, just keep going. We just somehow keep doing it. Man.
- 6:58If people are dumb enough to listen, then I'm done. I thout
- 7:00some words. Fantastic bro, very grateful mate, Thank you,
