- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie, and it's time right now for
- 0:03Speaker 1: us to go to God in prayer, and as always
- 0:06Speaker 1: I invite you to join along with me in prayer.
- 0:09Speaker 1: And this morning, I want to talk about something that
- 0:12Speaker 1: you know, we don't like to talk about in the church,
- 0:14Speaker 1: we don't like to acknowledge in the church, and that
- 0:18Speaker 1: of course, is church hurt and spiritual trauma, because it's real.
- 0:23Speaker 1: People are hurt in the church, because the church has
- 0:27Speaker 1: people in it, people with real problems, real issues, people
- 0:31Speaker 1: that are in the process of being healed themselves. And
- 0:35Speaker 1: y'all know hurt people, hurt people. Heavenly Father, in the
- 0:38Speaker 1: name of Jesus Christ, we come before you carrying wounds
- 0:43Speaker 1: that are hard to explain because they were inflicted in
- 0:46Speaker 1: places that were supposed to be safe, places where we
- 0:51Speaker 1: learned your name, places where we lifted our hands, places
- 0:55Speaker 1: where we trusted leaders, we trusted community, we trusted love,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and yet we were hurt. Lord, you saw it all.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You saw words that cut deeper because they came from
- 1:08Speaker 1: the pulpit. You saw betrayal that felt heavier because it
- 1:13Speaker 1: came wrapped in scripture. You saw the manipulation, the judgment,
- 1:18Speaker 1: the rejection, the silence you saw, the prayers that went unanswered,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and the tears that fell in church pews and parking lots.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And today, God, we bring that pain to you. Father,
- 1:31Speaker 1: Heal the wolves left in sacred places. Heal the disappointments
- 1:36Speaker 1: that made us question people all together. Heal the confusion
- 1:41Speaker 1: that made us question even ourselves. And most of all,
- 1:45Speaker 1: heal the pain that made us question you. Remind us
- 1:51Speaker 1: that human failure is not your character. Remind us that
- 1:55Speaker 1: spiritual abuse is not your heart. Remind us that contry, shame,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and fear are not fruits of your spirit. Where trust
- 2:05Speaker 1: has been shattered, began rebuilding gently, where faith has grown fragile,
- 2:10Speaker 1: Breathe life again. Where we have pulled away to protect ourselves.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Show us how to guard our hearts without closing our heart. Lord,
- 2:19Speaker 1: Release us from bitterities, Release us from replaying that pain
- 2:25Speaker 1: that hurt, that trauma over and over again. Release us
- 2:29Speaker 1: from carrying offenses that are too heavy for us. God,
- 2:33Speaker 1: we don't want pain to become our identity. We don't
- 2:36Speaker 1: want trauma to silence our worship. We don't want disappointment
- 2:40Speaker 1: to steal our identity, and destiny separate our experience. God,
- 2:45Speaker 1: from your truth, help us to see you clearly, not
- 2:49Speaker 1: through the lens of hurt, but through the lens of grace.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Surround us God with safe people. Sin Wise counselors place
- 2:59Speaker 1: come a should leaders in our path. Restore a healthy
- 3:03Speaker 1: community in your timing. And for those who caused horme, God,
- 3:09Speaker 1: replace them in your hands. You are just, You are righteous.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You are the defender of the wounded. And today we
- 3:18Speaker 1: choose healing. Today we choose freedom. Today we choose to
- 3:21Speaker 1: believe that you are still good even if people were not.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Thank you for being the shepherd who does not wound
- 3:28Speaker 1: the sheep. Thank you for binding up the broken hearted.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Thank you for restoring souls. Heal us, Lord, deeply, completely
- 3:37Speaker 1: and gently in Jesus' name. Amen, Amen, and Amen.
