- 0:29launch of its Starship rocket, as revealed by company CEO Elon
- 0:33Musk. And this development comes after
- 0:35a period of intense preparation at Spacex's Texas facility,
- 0:39where the latest rocket, booster and ship was recently
- 0:42transported to the launchpad, marking a significant milestone
- 0:45for the upcoming third test flight, known as Starship
- 0:48Integrated Test Flight, or IFT 3.
- 0:52Now, recent footage from local media and Spacex's social media
- 0:55channels showcase the Starship Super Heavy rocket booster and
- 0:58its second stage position on the launchpad undergoing preliminary
- 1:02launch procedures following the assembly of the second stage
- 1:05atop the booster, the booster and the rocket were subsequently
- 1:09dismantled to facilitate work on the booster's upper segment near
- 1:13the stage separation ring, which is that innovative feature
- 1:15introduced following a prior launch mishap.
- 1:18Now the stage separation ring, a novel addition to the Starship
- 1:21design was implemented after the inaugural test flight
- 1:24encountered a critical failure during the separation of the 1st
- 1:28and 2nd stages, culminating in an in flight explosion.
- 1:32Now this incident underscored the importance of continuous
- 1:35enhancements in the raucous design to ensure the success of
- 1:38future missions. Now, despite the anticipation
- 1:41that followed the 2nd Starship test, flight updates on testing
- 1:44activities at Boca Chica Starbase have been sparse in
- 1:472024. However, it is now confirmed the
- 1:50SpaceX plan to conduct in space propellant transfer test later
- 1:54this year in addition to 1/3 and subsequent test flight.
- 1:57Now the succession of the test flight forms the core strategy
- 2:01of Starships program along SpaceX to gather valuable data
- 2:04to refine and improve its rockets for forthcoming
- 2:07missions. This iterative testing process
- 2:10is crucial for the advancement of the program.
- 2:12Now a resurgent of activity around a resurgence of activity
- 2:17around the Starship project has been noted, Elon Musk providing
- 2:20a new timeline for the third test flight.
- 2:23Initially stated for February, the flight was postponed due to
- 2:27the FA as disclosure the SpaceX had yet to submit certain
- 2:30documents from the 2nd test flight indicating a potential
- 2:33delay. Now Musk responded to an inquiry
- 2:36from rapper Easy indicated that the next test flight is
- 2:40scheduled to occur in about 3 weeks, confirming that February
- 2:43will not see the starship's third flight attempt.
- 2:46This time might suggest a launch in March, nearly a year after
- 2:49the program's first Test flight of the installation of a new
- 2:52water value system on the launchpad.
- 2:54Of course, following the initial test flight significantly
- 2:56impacted the testing schedule, resulting in only two flights in
- 3:002023. And despite this, Spacex's
- 3:03commitment to a hardware rich program remains unwavering.
- 3:07Speculation about the construction of an additional
- 3:09launch site at Spacex's Texas facilities suggests that future
- 3:13Starship launches could occur more frequently, contingent upon
- 3:16FAA approval. Now the current regulatory
- 3:18framework allows only one test per authorization, underscoring
- 3:22the FA as cautious approach to certifying the world's largest
- 3:25rocket flight. Now, Elon Musk's recent
- 3:29statement on social media platform X, where he advised
- 3:32waiting for additional tests before boarding, highlights the
- 3:35imminent nature of the third test flight.
- 3:37This interaction with EZ reflects the long standing
- 3:41rapport between the two public figures and underscores the
- 3:44broader interest in Spacex's endeavors.
- 3:47Now Starship, which is designed to transport humans and cargo to
- 3:51the Moon, Mars and beyond, comprises a super heavy first
- 3:54stage and a 165 foot tall upper stage spacecraft, both powered
- 3:58by Spacex's Raptor engines. The vehicle's design emphasizes
- 4:02full and rapid reusability, which is a cornerstone of
- 4:05Spacex's vision for the future of space exploration.
- 4:08Now to date, Starship has completed two test flights with
- 4:11the first ending and a controlled detonation due to
- 4:14multiple issues including the failure of stage separation and
- 4:17the second flight demonstrated improved performance, though it
- 4:20ultimately resulted in the destruction of both stages.
- 4:24Now, preparation for the third flight has been ongoing, with
- 4:27recent activities including the rollout and assembly of both
- 4:30Starship stages at the orbital launch mount.
- 4:32However, the FAA's ongoing investigation into the previous
- 4:36launches events leaves the timing the next license
- 4:39uncertain. Buskas hinted at future
- 4:42iterations of Starship, suggesting that the rocket will
- 4:44grow in size by 10 to 15 meters in its third version.
- 4:48This evolution reflects Spacex's ambition to continually enhance
- 4:51the rocket's capabilities. Recent progress on the Third
- 4:55Flight's readiness includes the Full Assembly Booster 10 and
- 4:58Ship 28 on a launchpad, with upcoming Rd. closures indicating
- 5:01a potential wet dress rehearsal for these components in the
- 5:04coming days. Now, this step is crucial for
- 5:07validating the rocket's readiness for flight, and the
- 5:10assembly process for Booster 10 in Ship 28 was completed within
- 5:1356 hours, and that shows that SpaceX has inability to maintain
- 5:19a rapid case in operations. There's a critical factor for
- 5:22increasing the flight cadence of Starship for future launches to
- 5:25the Moon and to Mars. Now modification to the liquid
- 5:29oxygen, the Locks Tank and Booster 10, including the
- 5:32addition of slosh baffles, demonstrates Spacex's responsive
- 5:36approach to addressing issues encountered in previous flights,
- 5:39such as the Booster 9 failure. And these wet dress rehearsals,
- 5:43both partial and full, will test the rocket and its support
- 5:47systems, including significant changes to the tank farm.
- 5:50These rehearsals are essential for ensuring the rocket systems
- 5:53function as intended for streamlining the loaded process.
- 5:58Now, despite the temporary destacking of Ship 28 from
- 6:00Booster 10 to address potential clamp issues, the rapid
- 6:04restacking indicates Spacex's efficiency in resolving
- 6:07technical challenges, and this readiness sets the stage for the
- 6:10WDR test campaign and moves the Starship program closer to its
- 6:14next major milestone. I FT3.
