- 2:19Believe in the Journey podcast where I am your host Trevita Harris, and tonight
- 2:23we are going to be talking about a topic of childbirth and a different way
- 2:30of women using hypno therapy to listen the pain and fear of childbirth. My
- 2:38guest tonight will be Miss Terry Tushka and we will be talking with her about
- 2:46the Hypno Birthing Foundation and how she is one of the founders and directors of
- 2:55Hypno Babies and Hypno Birthings. She loves being a childbirth educator, juelist,
- 3:01and speaker and hypno therapists. She's been doing this for over thirty years and
- 3:07she loves teaching families to trust their minds, bodies, and babies through the
- 3:10process of childbirth. Carrie is very passionate about her work as a hypno therapist.
- 3:16Sharing the power of the mind to enhance life brings her so much joy.
- 3:23But before we get into that, I want to go to God in
- 3:27prayer because you know we cannot do anything without Him. So, Dear Heavenly
- 3:31Father, thank you for bringing us together as you do each and every time
- 3:36we are in front of you. Please allow anyone listening to take what they
- 3:40need to guide them in the direction that is safe and near, and dear
- 3:46to you, keep them out of harm's way, protect them and guide them
- 3:51in the way that you see fit. In your precious and holy name,
- 3:53Jesus, we pray, Amen, and please welcome Ms Carrie to the show.
- 4:00Yeah, m hmm, I think your only mute. Uh oh,
- 4:16I gotta get you unmuted. M I don't know, it's just muted right
- 4:32now? Can you U mute yours? Because I think that's what it is.
- 4:49It should be down close to the bottom of here. We found it,
- 4:59okay, I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. Gremlin's crept
- 5:03in. It's okay, but we always end up with some form of technical
- 5:11difficult cute whenever we do this show. So without it, I don't think
- 5:15it would be as good as it is. So it still keeps everybody entertained
- 5:19and they wait patiently for everything. So again, welcome, thank you,
- 5:27thank you for having me. I really appreciate it and I just love talking
- 5:30about things that help people to have a better life. Yes, ma'am,
- 5:35now with hypno birthing, what got you started with this? Well, it
- 5:43was my own births that got me started in this. I was just minding
- 5:46my own business many years ago. I was a worked at a stock brokerage
- 5:53firm as what's called a sales assistant, and I was firstly married and a
- 5:58friend of ours from church she gave birth to her first baby, and she
- 6:03did it without drugs, and I was fascinated. She told me all about
- 6:08it and how it really hurt, and she was in a lot of pain,
- 6:12but she was glad she did it unmedicated. Well, I didn't even
- 6:15know that was a thing. I didn't know people did that. I thought
- 6:18they just went in, everybody got an epidural, and that was the thing
- 6:23you did. So it fascinated me so much. And she had done a
- 6:28particular kind of childbirth education class, so I looked that up and I became
- 6:34fascinated with what they taught, and I became an instructor for that method of
- 6:42natural childbirth and I taught classes. I was so loving it, you know,
- 6:48all into everybody should have an unmdicated birth and this is the only way
- 6:54to do it. And I also went to my student's birth as a dula,
- 7:00which is a labor assistant, and so I would be with them helping
- 7:04them through it. And I never charged as a duela at that time in
- 7:10history. I just wanted to experience this beautiful thing with my students and really
- 7:15help them. And about fifty percent of them had an unmedicated birthing. With
- 7:19this particular method, and they you know, it was very painful, but
- 7:27in my mind, I was thinking, you know, this is doable.
- 7:30At least half of them are doing this, you know, the way they
- 7:33wanted to in the first place. And so I thought I knew everything there
- 7:40was to know about having a baby until I got pregnant, and then I
- 7:47went into labor with my first and oh, my gosh, awakening. Yeah,
- 7:56her little head was turned around at the back of her head was grinding
- 8:01on the nerves in my spine. It's called back labor. Yeah, that's
- 8:07the position is posterior when they're turned around, so they're not facing your back
- 8:13as would be normal, but they're facing your front. So there's a lot
- 8:18of pressure from their head on the nerves in your spine all the way down
- 8:22and out. And it was excruciating, there's no other way to describe it.
- 8:30And I was screaming my head off. And I had planned to give
- 8:35birth at a birth center, so we went to the birth center, you
- 8:39know, when I couldn't take it anymore at home, and they turned us
- 8:45away. They said, you're one centimeter dilated. Here, I am,
- 8:48I've already been in labor for an entire day and I was one centimeter dilated
- 8:54and screaming my head off, and they turned away. They said, go
- 8:58to a hook tell or motel, whatever, somewhere else and come back when
- 9:03you're you know, you think you're about four centimeters dilated. So I did.
- 9:07We my me and my entourage, and that's another thing I learned not
- 9:13to have an entourage. But we went to a motel and I was screaming
- 9:18there for hours while everybody waited, and it was it was just terrible.
- 9:24It was so emotionally dreaming and traumatic to me. And when I went back
- 9:31to the birth center they accepted me in I was four centimeters and then it
- 9:35was just a nightmare. It was just trying desperately to find anything that would
- 9:41help, and there was There's no such thing as just breathe or just relax
- 9:48when you're in that kind of excruciating pain, and that's all I had that
- 9:52those were the tools that I had. So it was bad, and it
- 9:56was bad on my husband. It was bad on my mother and my sister
- 10:00and my brother in law, all of whom were there to help me.
- 10:03Bless their hearts, me worrying about them, and you know, the stress
- 10:09that creates. You know. That is how I learned not to have a
- 10:15lot of people around. Just keep it to a minimum, folks. Yes,
- 10:22you know. So in the end, after quite a long time,
- 10:26I was just screaming. Helped me, help me, and they put me
- 10:30in a wheelchair, gave me an IV and wheelchaired me across the street screaming
- 10:35to the hospital, where I saw the most miraculous person I've ever seen in
- 10:41my life, the anesthesiologists cooking at me with a great big needle. Never
- 10:48saw anything so beautiful in my life. So I had an epidural and then
- 10:56I slept and cried for about six to seven hours. Oh wow, And
- 11:01the baby was pushed and pulled out of me because I couldn't feel anything,
- 11:05and I was traumatized. I had a beautiful princess. You know what that
- 11:11feels like. Yeah, baby in your arms, and you're so happy and
- 11:16elated, and there's a part of you that's just missing from the trauma,
- 11:22that's just been yanked away because you're not the same, not the same,
- 11:30not the same. I had. I had issues from the place in my
- 11:35spine where the epidural was placed. I had pain shooting up and down,
- 11:39my neck and back and legs everywhere for about three years from that spot,
- 11:46and I didn't know that was a thing, you know, could have that,
- 11:50but you know, I also was emotionally traumatized and I got PTSD from
- 11:54it. And it wasn't until my precious daughter, at two and a half,
- 11:58very verbal years old, said to me, Mommy, be happy.
- 12:03I want to make you happy. And I just stopped and I just cried
- 12:09and cried and cried because I wasn't able to smile. I wasn't able to
- 12:16be happy. I didn't even realize what was happening to me, but I
- 12:20was traumatized and I had PTSD. And it was the next day that I
- 12:28went to get help. I didn't want my daughter ever feeling like it's her
- 12:33job to make me happy. That woke me right up, and I went
- 12:37and got medication. I got therapy. Then I got hypnotherapy, and that
- 12:41was what did it, okay, that helped me so much. And then
- 12:46four years to the almost to the day that I had my daughter, I
- 12:50had my son and I was in a freestanding birth center with only my sister
- 12:58and my husband at the midwife, and it was only seven hours as opposed
- 13:03to a day and a half birthing, and his little head was turned round.
- 13:11He was also posterior. Oh goodness. Yeah. So I was screaming
- 13:16my head off with the pain and wondering why I did this to myself again.
- 13:20And it was during one of the really awful contractions that my husband was
- 13:28pushing on my back to try to help the pain. My sister was holding
- 13:33my hands and I was squeezing the daylights out of them out of her hands.
- 13:37And when it was over and I could hardly breathe from screaming, I
- 13:43looked up into my sister's face and she was sobbing, and she said,
- 13:50it should never have to be this hard. And that was it. The
- 13:54light bulb went on over my head and I just decided, right there in
- 13:58the of a labor that I was going to create whatever it was that was
- 14:05necessary to make sure that people who wanted a more holistic experience out of their
- 14:11birthing did not have to do this and experience this kind of pain and scream
- 14:16through birth, and their babies hear them scream through birth and be traumatized afterwards.
- 14:22Yes, and so it took me a couple of years, but I
- 14:30realized hypnosis was a thing for childbirth by watching a show on TV that were
- 14:35that obstrician actually helped his patients use hypnosis for childbirth. I was like,
- 14:41that's it. And then I went and got trained at a regular hypno birthing
- 14:48organization, and I was so excited, and I started teaching my classes and
- 14:54going to those births, and my students weren't looking any different the students had
- 15:01before with this other natural childbirth method. And I didn't know what I was
- 15:03doing wrong, but it was not working how I had pictured it to work.
- 15:09So I just said, I gotta find what I gotta find something else.
- 15:15There's something missing. Yeah, So I went and studied hypnosis itself.
- 15:20Then I studied hypnotherapy. Then I became a hypnotherapist, and then I found
- 15:26out there was something called hypno anesthesia. And this is a real thing.
- 15:31I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but it's a real thing
- 15:35where people who have to have surgeries of different kinds, whether it's dental or
- 15:39medical surgery, they can't have radical medical anesthesia because they are allergic to it.
- 15:52So they worked with a hypnotherapist ahead of time for several months, and
- 15:56those sessions that they do actually retrain their inner mind. She would perceived that
- 16:04the surgeon's knife, the scalpel feels like a little tingling sensation or maybe a
- 16:11pushing or pulling or stretching sensation, and that's how they're able to get through
- 16:17the surgery and recovery without anesthetics. And once I found out that was a
- 16:22thing, I just was like, well, that's it. Where can I
- 16:26find this? Right? So I found a program called Gerald Kline's Painless Childbirth
- 16:33Program and I got trained in that. And after I did, the man
- 16:40who created it, Jerry, who was no longer with us but was an
- 16:44amazing master hypnotist, I asked him if it'd be okay if I took these
- 16:49techniques that he had created that were designed for hypnotherapists to use one on one
- 16:56in their office with a patient, if I can put them into a child
- 17:00birth education program, and he said, I cannot wait to see what you
- 17:04create. Yes, And that was twenty two years ago, and I created
- 17:11a complete childbirth education program because I learned from the other hypno birthing program that
- 17:15you have to have your childbirth education at the same place as you get your
- 17:21birth hypnosis or you're learning two different philosophies. Okay, that childbirth hurts and
- 17:29it's just gonna hurt and you need to make friends with it and do the
- 17:32best you can to avoid unnecessary pain. And the other one is childbirth can
- 17:37be so much easier, very much easier, if you use your inner mind
- 17:44and your belief systems. And that's completely different. So there's nothing wrong with
- 17:51other childbirth programs, nothing at all. And I learned so much from the
- 17:55childbirth programs that I did learn and teach, not what I was looking for.
- 18:02I was looking for the big cahuna. Yeah, so that my students
- 18:10could have the hypno anesthesia that they could have this these techniques that really really
- 18:15help you to create hypno anesthesia throughout your entire birthing body. And that's what
- 18:21I did in Hypno Babies and it's been amazing. Yeah. At what point
- 18:30should a woman go through our start the process of before actual delivery? How
- 18:38soon should they start? Well, we do suggest that our students start between
- 18:44twenty eight and thirty weeks of pregnancy. Okay, course itself is six weeks
- 18:48long, and when you are finished actually learning the course and reading all of
- 18:53the material, because remember it's a complete childbirth education course, so you're learning
- 19:00all the really amazing things about how to create your own birthing with nutrition and
- 19:06exercise, staying healthy and low risk, all the stages of birthing, the
- 19:11physical comfort techniques, all of those things, even new mom and baby care
- 19:15and postpartum, so you learn all of that along with all of the hypnosis
- 19:21and why you're doing certain hypnosis at certain times, and how it builds upon
- 19:26itself as you go along in the course. So after you've done all of
- 19:32that, the reading and the practice, then there is what's called a maintenance
- 19:36period, and it is whenever you finish the six week course until your baby
- 19:41is born, and you'll be listening to one main hypnosis track a day and
- 19:45your affirmations track, which is amazing because with the hypnosis, you're being retrained
- 19:52from the inside and with the affirmations you're being retrained from the outside, and
- 19:56they work together in sync. So actuations are basically it's a track that you
- 20:03can listen to anytime, driving, cooking, playing with the other kids,
- 20:07whatever, and it's one line affirmations that help to keep your conscious mind,
- 20:14you know, very very focused on your goal and that is really really important.
- 20:19Okay, Yeah, I really believe that that is important. So it's
- 20:25basically mind, body and everything intertwined together to keep you visually relaxed and not
- 20:32overly stimulated to focus more on the fear, because I think childbirth is a
- 20:37scary thing altogether, and most people don't understand that it's very It's really life
- 20:44or death honestly, because you're going your body's going through so much at one
- 20:48time that you don't really know what's going to happen from moment to moment,
- 20:53because childbirth can take a turn for the worst in any given moment. But
- 20:59I think being able to walk yourself through before you get to that end stage,
- 21:07to still come in with a relaxed state of mind, and to have
- 21:11a good support system that helps you from start to finish when you start this
- 21:15makes it that transition and that date really easy to deal with. Yeah,
- 21:22and we do have a wonderful fear clearing hypnosis track that allows you to listen
- 21:29at any time, whether it's you know, when you've just gone to or
- 21:33about to go to an obstetrical appointment, or you know, somebody says something
- 21:40scary to you, like you know, boy, let me tell you all
- 21:42about my horrible birth. Can those fears, and we do teach you also
- 21:49to stay in what's called a mental bubble of peace that you create so that
- 21:56when people start telling you those you can just go inside the bubble of peace
- 22:04and everything that's negative bounces off of it. But you're also taught things to
- 22:08protect yourself and your baby, like very nicely putting your hand up when they
- 22:15start and say, oops, you know, we can't talk about that right
- 22:18now, because that's not going to be me. You know, I'm planning
- 22:22a different kind of birthings. So if you would, instead of telling me
- 22:27what you were gonna say, tell me the most beautiful, joyful thing that
- 22:33happened to you when you had your baby. Now the person needs to think
- 22:38back and think of what that moment is. And it starts. They start
- 22:45filling with endorphins and you know, these wonderful hormones that make us happy and
- 22:52allow us to bond with our children and do other things. But they are
- 22:57thinking about this and then there's saying it. It could be the moment I
- 23:03found out it was a boy, or or you know, the moment I
- 23:08held my baby first in my arms, or the second I looked at this
- 23:11child and realized it had a dimple just like my husband. That most joyful
- 23:19moment was they are thinking it, feeling it, producing these hormones, and
- 23:26then they're feeling much much better than if they would have told you their whole,
- 23:30negative, awful birth story. And so are you, and you're talking
- 23:36yourself and your baby, and something really good has come out of this.
- 23:41Yeah, that doesn't mean that birth stories don't need to be heard. They
- 23:45just don't need to be heard by people who are pregnant. Yes, and
- 23:52you know about to give birth. They need encouragement, and so we teach
- 23:57it. We teach so many things each You know, how to create your
- 24:02own birth plan, which we call birth preferences. That was one question.
- 24:07Actually, so what are the benefits, the risks, and the alternatives of
- 24:12all the common interventions. Other people call them interventions, but we call them
- 24:18choices. And the reason we call them choices is because the number one thing
- 24:22you're going to learn in Hypnobabi's Class number three is that you are one hundred
- 24:30percent in control of every choice and decision made during your pregnancy, your birthing,
- 24:36your postpartum, and with your baby's care. Okay, therefore, research
- 24:42everything ahead of time, decide what it is that you want. Know that
- 24:47you're going to be flexible if anything happens during the actual birthing, of course
- 24:51you are. But then make a plan and know that you are making educated
- 24:56decisions about all these things. So you're learning the benefits, the risks,
- 25:00and the alternatives of all of these interventions, like having an IV. Not
- 25:06everybody needs an IV pitocin, which can really rock your boat. Yes,
- 25:11you know other things that can go wrong that cause a domino effect in childbirth,
- 25:18and you can end up with a cesarean just by virtue of the fact
- 25:21that you maybe agreed to a procedure or treatment that you didn't need. So
- 25:27how to look at it ahead of time through the lens of evidence based information
- 25:37that you need to then go and decide what would be right for you.
- 25:41Those decisions belong to you. So this is all very very important information that
- 25:45hypnobabies teaches. We do not tell people what to choose. We do not
- 25:52care what decisions you make during your birthing, as far as you know that
- 25:57they're yours. You know, we respect and honor the fact that people choose
- 26:03what they need. They always choose what they and their babies need, and
- 26:07it's always the right decision, right. People who say I don't want to
- 26:15give birth, I want to have a Cisian, that's your choice. Oh
- 26:18girl, you know, do your thing. Yeah, as long as you
- 26:26are educated on what that means. Yeah, it is major surgery. So
- 26:30it's important that people who make that decision understand that. That's all. Yeah.
- 26:37I think this is really really a good thing. I wish I had
- 26:41known about this, like I said, when I was seventeen and giving birth,
- 26:48because it was not an option. It was well, at least,
- 26:52it wasn't anything that was put in place to where I could have done that.
- 26:56However, my daughter did decide that she wanted to come a little early
- 27:00anyway, but not having another option, it was okay, well you're gonna
- 27:07get an epidural. That was the only option I was really offered. It
- 27:11wasn't do you want to be natural? Because I was seventeen, and so
- 27:18the doctors all agreed, oh, well, she this is her first baby.
- 27:22We don't want to have to deal with a lot of pain, her
- 27:26screaming this, that and the other. But they actually over medicated me with
- 27:32the epidural because after yeah, I went into labor around three o'clock that afternoon
- 27:40in July, and I could not feel my I gave birth to her at
- 27:47ten thirty four. Now at ten thirty four, you know, the epidural
- 27:52should not last after that, probably a good thirty minutes after delivery as usual
- 28:00about how long it should last. After that, I still could not feel
- 28:03my legs at one o'clock in the morning, and I had to have assistance
- 28:07to have someone help me to the bathroom because my legs still felt like jello
- 28:12because they had given me so much. Like I'm only four to eight and
- 28:17at that time I think I weighed probably one hundred and three pounds, so
- 28:22they didn't have the right measurements for medicating me. So and I'm like,
- 28:27Okay, it should not have taken this long for this stuff to wear off.
- 28:32So now I have to still have someone help me to the bathroom.
- 28:36This should not be this long. So I feel like if I had known
- 28:40something about this, it probably would not have been so hard for me.
- 28:45But I had been around people who had told me really bad stories about their
- 28:49labor and how long they were in labor, and you know, having to
- 28:55end up having an emergency C section and things of that nature. Who are
- 29:00older women as well with their birth stories and so it was nothing that was
- 29:07pleasant about the idea of going into giving birth. And then the doctors were
- 29:12not listening when I was telling them that I was feeling pressure and everything until
- 29:18it was time for me to push. Now, they gave me instructures on
- 29:22how to push, but when it came down to actually doing it, I
- 29:26was already crowning by the time they came in. So it was like,
- 29:30you guys just didn't listen. I've been telling you for an hour that this
- 29:33is what I'm feeling. Oh no, you're fine, there's no problems.
- 29:37You know, this is your first baby. You're gonna be in labor for
- 29:40hours. You may not even deliver until tomorrow. Well, I feel like
- 29:42I got to go to the bathroom, so obviously something's happening. Can someone
- 29:47check? No one checked, And when they did decide to check, she
- 29:51was crowned. So it's one push and that was it. That's kind of
- 29:56good. Yeah, that's a blessing. So I didn't do a lot of
- 30:00pushing, not not the not listening to your part, you know, they
- 30:07you know, It drives me crazy when they don't listen to birthing people right,
- 30:11even the birth partner. It's not okay. And they think they know
- 30:18everything because they've seen so many babies get born, but who knows who knew
- 30:22that baby was coming the one that's pushing them out because they feel it right,
- 30:29So they should really listen more. And the more you listen, the
- 30:36more you will hear and see. Yes. Yes, Now I got one
- 30:42more question. Do you feel like that this helps women to reduce their anxiety
- 30:51and fear after taking these classes? Because I know a lot of them may
- 30:56come in with really high emotions and anxiety over everything. So once they go
- 31:02through the course, have you saw where they have a tremendous I guess you
- 31:08could say a tremendous relaxation of what to expect because it's not so heightened anymore.
- 31:15It's more of an at ease, filling in to be prepared and ready
- 31:21without oh my god, I don't know what's gonna happen. I don't know
- 31:26this. That and the third so, do you feel like they're a little
- 31:29bit more comfortable? Yes, As soon as our students start hypno babies.
- 31:37Because of the nature of the different tracks that we have, they automatically start
- 31:45to relax and calm down and realize that pregnancy and childbirth are perfectly normal.
- 31:51And all the suggestions, which are mental directives inside of these tracks, they
- 31:56all basically are have the same message, which is that this is going to
- 32:04be much easier, much more comfortable. Even your pregnancy is going to be
- 32:08better, your postpartum is going to be better. Of course, there are
- 32:12different things on different tracks. There's twenty one of them that they all work
- 32:17and compound each other one after the other with different cues and techniques and hypnosis
- 32:23anchors and things like that, but the message remains. You know, how
- 32:30much calmer they are, how much more relaxed they are about it, and
- 32:36of course the affirmations as well on the fear clearing track, and we have
- 32:40a track called Visualize your Birth, where you know, deeper into the course
- 32:46you are able to create, and we don't tell you what to create.
- 32:52We just guide you through the different stages of your birthing and then you create
- 32:55emotionally and mentally the birthing that you want. And this is just a birthing
- 33:01rehearsal in your mind that creates a blueprint for your conscious and subconscious minds to
- 33:09follow, so you're able to create that birthing yourself, you know, on
- 33:15an emotional and mental level, and that really really helps people to be ready
- 33:22along with all of the other things that we have in hypno Babies, you
- 33:25know, and we have a track that most people never ever hear, and
- 33:30it's called the Change of Plants, and it is only for if you get
- 33:35into your birthing and something is different than your original birth plan, then you
- 33:42can still listen to this track and still stay deeply in hypnosis and work with
- 33:46whatever that changes. Maybe we didn't want an IV, but we're getting one
- 33:52because it's medically necessary, so we work with it. We flow right with
- 33:58the change, you know, so the veins don't go flat and the blood
- 34:01pressure doesn't spike, or the temperature doesn't spike and things like that, and
- 34:06we can just roll on through the rest of the earthing still using hypnosis,
- 34:10still calm, still relaxed, whatever happens. So there are many different things
- 34:16to hypno Babies that we put in to really help people with the things that
- 34:22can come up. One of them is that the birth partners get their own
- 34:25hypnosis track. Yes, That is amazing because then they're able to write from
- 34:35whenever we start hypno Babies in pregnancy, you know, hear these messages and
- 34:39have a Q a hypnotic Q to become relaxed and calm at any time about
- 34:45pregnancy and childbirth and how it's all very natural and normal, it's going to
- 34:51go well, and that you're going to be really confident as a birth partner
- 34:54and be calm and relaxed at the time, and you'll be able to help
- 34:59really well and all of those things. So we've thought of just about everything,
- 35:06Okay, because yeah, that was my other question. Does the partner
- 35:09get some hypno therapy as well to be able to be supportive, because if
- 35:16it's only just for the mom, I feel like the partner is not going
- 35:22to be just as supportive because they don't actually understand what's going on and are
- 35:27the techniques to help. Well, here's something about the birth partners we do.
- 35:34If you do have a birth partner, and you don't have to have
- 35:37one, because hypno Baby's just designed so that you could do it completely by
- 35:40yourself and it would be perfect. However, for those who do have a
- 35:45birth partner, we give them jobs we want them to read the materials as
- 35:50well. We want them to listen to their track, and we want them
- 35:52to know what these techniques and cues are. And there's a whole section in
- 36:00one of our workbooks just for the birth partners to understand the program better,
- 36:05to understand their role and pregnancy better, to understand their role and the birthing
- 36:08better, with all kinds of Q words and freezes and what we call birth
- 36:15prompts to help you with should you you'd want to hear their voice during your
- 36:20birthing, you know, helping you along. You know, maybe touching your
- 36:23shoulder or your forehead. Those are hypno baby's cues. If not, you
- 36:28can do it all on your own with nobody else helping. But we do
- 36:31give them a lot to do to help. Well. That's good to know
- 36:37because I think having somebody there that knows what you've gone through from start to
- 36:44finish with this process helps along the way because if you don't have it and
- 36:49then doing it by yourself, and then there's that moment of uncertainty, and
- 36:54if you're doing it by yourself, it you know, you know how to
- 37:00walk yourself through a moment of anxiety because you've taken these courses and you've listened
- 37:06to everything that is necessary. But if you have a partner, when they
- 37:10know that you are getting in that anxious state, they know what techniques to
- 37:15say or what phrases and what things to use to get you back in that
- 37:19calm and relaxed state. So I think that works hand in hand together as
- 37:22well. But it's a very interesting go ahead. Can I just explain to
- 37:30people what hypnosis is? Yes, please do, because most people think that
- 37:36hypnosis is what they see on the stage where the hypnotists plucks somebody out of
- 37:40the audience and then makes them quack like a dug or makes them seem like
- 37:45Elvis or whatever. Yes, that's not it. Entertainment. It's a lot
- 37:52of fun that is not hypnosis. Hypnosis is a very focused form of concentration
- 37:59where the body relaxes, then the mind relaxes and is able to accept these
- 38:06mental suggestions, these directives to the inner mind in a much easier way to
- 38:13affect the kind of change that we would like. And the important thing for
- 38:16everybody to understand out there is that we are in states of hypnosis many times
- 38:22a day, every day, all the time. So when you are reading
- 38:29anything, you know, whether it's a book, a magazine, the newspaper,
- 38:34a tablet, whatever it is, your eyes go back and forth and
- 38:37you enter an alpha state of hypnosis. Whenever you're going to sleep and waking
- 38:42up, whenever you're on a screen of any kind, and if it could
- 38:45be a phone screen, a tablet, a laptop, a television, a
- 38:49movie screen, you are in a state of hypnosis very quickly. And anybody
- 38:52who's ever tried to disturb a gamer knows that they don't even hear you.
- 39:00Oh, they're so focused. They're in a state of hypnosis. And anytime
- 39:05we've been driving for a little while and we're thinking with our conscious minds about
- 39:10what's going to happen when we get to wherever we're going, or what just
- 39:14happened, or adding something to our grocery list in our mind, and all
- 39:17of a sudden, we're sitting at a traffic light, or we're sitting at
- 39:21our destination and we can't figure out what happened in the last couple minutes.
- 39:24We have no conscious memory of it. We were in a state of hypnosis.
- 39:29So these hypnosis is very very normal state. You are in a state
- 39:34of hypnosis all the time. So with the exception of people under the age
- 39:38of two who can't sit still in focus, and people who are maybe on
- 39:45drugs or alcohol or mental states that cause them to be on drugs or alcohol
- 39:50or be unfocused, everyone can become hypnotized. The question is will they Because
- 39:58they are a hypnosis many times a day, every day, So the question
- 40:02is not can they, it's will they just allow it? Well, they
- 40:07just relax into it and allow themselves to enter hypnosis and have this positive benefit.
- 40:15So and there's nothing airy, faery or weird about it. All.
- 40:20Hypnosis is self hypnosis. That's important for people to understand. No one can
- 40:24ever make you do anything. You enter hypnosis, you accept the suggestions in
- 40:30hypnosis, you stay in hypnosis, you emerge from hypnosis completely on your own,
- 40:36and whenever you would like to, and if you would like to,
- 40:37and if you would not like to, you don't, So you're always in
- 40:44control. So those are important things for people to understand about hypnosis because of
- 40:47the misconceptions out there that you're not in control when you're in hypnosis, you
- 40:52totally are. And you're in hypnosis many many, many, many, many
- 40:55many times a day, so Okay, one other question. Do you think
- 41:00that women should talk to their obg y n first before starting a program like
- 41:06this? No, I mean there's absolutely no reason to do that. The
- 41:15obstetrician has nothing to do with your birthing choices. First of all, whether
- 41:21they were to say anything about it is it doesn't make any difference, you
- 41:27know, like it or not like it suggested or not suggest it. You
- 41:30know, maybe they've seen things in the past. I know there are some
- 41:35doctors who've told me that that hypno birthing thing doesn't work when it's not our
- 41:39program they're talking about, right, They just don't understand the differences. So
- 41:45as soon as I do an in service for them and explain to them that
- 41:50this is the big kahuna, then they understand. So it's completely unnecessary to
- 41:57talk to the doctors or nurses or anybody ahead of time. The way that
- 42:02a woman chooses to give birth is not anyone else's business anyway. Sure,
- 42:08you can stand on your head if you like. True. Very most people
- 42:15don't realize that you can choose all the birthing positions while you're in the active
- 42:22birthing time and you're moving around and maybe you're leaning over a counter, or
- 42:27sitting on a birth ball, or even sitting on a toilet, you know,
- 42:30to help your body just relax down. The same with pushing. You
- 42:36can do any of those things. Nobody has to give you permission. Nobody
- 42:38can allow you or keep you from doing anything that you would like to do.
- 42:44You're the birthing berth and you're the patient. You have hired these people
- 42:47and you get to give birth any way you would like. I agree.
- 42:53I agree with that can give our viewers the information of how they can get
- 43:00in touch with you and how they can get the information about starting the course.
- 43:08Alrighty, well, we have a website at hypnobabies dot com and it
- 43:13has a lot of different information on it about our course. You know what
- 43:17hypnosis is, what hypnobabies is. Where to find a class if you would
- 43:22like to attend a live class with a Hypnobaby's instructor in your area, or
- 43:29become a hypnodula and that is a traditionally trained doula who we then teach a
- 43:36specialty course too so that they can birth assist people who are doing hypnosis for
- 43:42childbirth much better. But if you want to do any of our self study
- 43:46courses. Then you go to Hypnobabies dash store dot com and our self study
- 43:52courses are on there. One is a hard copy course where you get all
- 43:58the materials and you can have them in your hands and flip through the workbooks
- 44:01and highlight everything and all of that. And then one of them is an
- 44:07online course and people are doing it all over the world, of course.
- 44:12And the third one is a bundle, so it's our online course, our
- 44:16natural laid back breastfeeding course, and are preparing for your hospital stay and recovery
- 44:22course, all of which are really great for first time parents. And when
- 44:27you go there, make sure that if you're going to get anything, that
- 44:31you use the discount code Belave twenty for twenty percent off, and that will
- 44:42be good right after we finish this live event, and it will be good
- 44:47for anything on the website except for our hard copy home study and our gift
- 44:52certificates. And we also have lots and lots of other individual hypnosis tracks,
- 45:00so if you want to eliminate nausea or insomnia, or fear of needles,
- 45:07or fear of childbirth or on whose stress and anxiety I mean, we have
- 45:15all kinds of individual tracks and sets for v back moms and twin moms and
- 45:21just many many different things so peruse around all right, Well, I thank
- 45:27you so much for being with us tonight and giving us the background and giving
- 45:32us the information about hypno babies, because it is another alternative for childbirth,
- 45:38and I think most women who don't want to have to deal with traditional anesthetics
- 45:46or anything like that, they can find a more holistic way of delivering babies
- 45:52without the fear of a traumatic experience, because that traumatic experience definitely can lead
- 46:00to a PST PSTD moment of uncertainty and not want to ever have another baby
- 46:07after that because it's so traumatic. So I think this is definitely a good
- 46:13thing that women know that there's something else out there where they don't have to
- 46:19listen to what mama went through or what their sister went through, that they
- 46:23can have a most pleasant birthing experience. So I thank you and I definitely
- 46:30will have you back again so that we can go a little bit more in
- 46:34depth with this this course. So yes, ma'am, do you have anything
- 46:43that you would like to say to the guests before we leave? I think
- 46:50in life as in being pregnant, the way you look at things. If
- 46:58it changes, then the things you look at change. So it's just a
- 47:02matter of being open, having an open mind and heart as you're going through
- 47:09life. And if you're pregnant, you know, just being open to something
- 47:14different and knowing there's a different way something that can create a more joyful birthing.
- 47:21And if it's hypno babies, that's great. But always know that you
- 47:25know, you count you matter, you know, and make sure people listen
- 47:30to you and nurture you. Yes, well, as I always say before
- 47:36we go, remember to stay out of God's business. The only thing he
- 47:39needs you to do is be obedient to what he's called you to do.
- 47:43So again, thank you guys for tuning in tonight. And you know where
- 47:46to find us where the Crew podcast, so find us on Facebook. We
- 47:52love you and until next time, we'll see you. Good night, Queen.
- 48:09It wasn't the sweet, sweet sweet name I've known. It wasn't the
- 48:22sweet, sweet sweet ste I know
